Sister Wives reveal weights, all of them are over 200 lbs except for pregnant one

sisterwivesback11
At the start of this week’s “Sister Wives,” which I just got around to watching last night, the four wives visit a gym and get weighed before their session with a personal trainer. It’s a daunting task for them, with all of them except for the newest, youngest and the only currently pregnant wife weighing over 200 pounds. Meri explains to the camera that she’s a size 14, and she steps on the scale to show that she’s 213 pounds. Janelle is the largest at 271 pounds, and she calls her weight her “Achilles heel.” Christine is 222 pounds, saying that she weighed more when she got married but that she’s not happy with her current weight. Robyn is a few months pregnant and she’s also the smallest at 158 pounds. Some of the other women say they don’t want Robyn’s body type, though, and insist that they don’t see her as a threat to their relationship with Kody just because she’s smaller than they are. I believe them, honestly. She’s a threat because she’s the new one and because she is an obtuse doofus like Kody, not because she’s not overweight.

Christine: People that would look at my body and people that would look at Robyn’s body would probably think that I would love to have her body shape, but I don’t want to be too skinny.

Meri: I know that Kody likes my curves. [laughs]

Robyn: Kody told me in a very nice way, at one point that he actually likes curvy girls and I’m not a curvy girl. So it’s not really like I’ve got some sort of upper hand with this whole situation. He likes curvy girls.

I felt bad for Janelle because there was footage of the trainer telling her that her BMI was 44 and that she needed “this the most.” Her face was all red and she looked embarrassed, later explaining that of course she knew that and that it was an “extremely horrible day” because she got lectured like that. I like her the most and she’s very logical and pragmatic. I don’t fault her for turning to food for comfort, a lot of people do that. She’s a good person and she probably deals with stress by eating. She did say that she’s going to do the workout the trainer gave her and was “encouraged that this will actually work.” I do fault Robyn for being an insensitive bitch about it.

That was so douchey what Robyn said about how she didn’t have the upper hand just because she’s skinny. It was very similar to what she’s said in the past about how she saw Kody loving the other women and knew she had a chance with him. It’s worth revisiting this quote from Robyn from last season.

One of the biggest things that attracted me to Kody is his love for his wives. The fact that he saw value in each one of these girls, for different reasons, for who they were, for their strengths and their weaknesses, was like, I just drooled… I love to know that he’s loving his other wives because that means he’ll love me too.”

So she’s basically saying she’s better than them, isn’t she? Only that doesn’t give her an advantage with Kody, but it does.

The wives may strive to hide any competition they may feel with each other, but Kody doesn’t bother hiding his jealousy when it comes to his wives. He narrated about their personal trainer “Bill’s a professional, so I fully expect that he’ll behave as a professional when he has this interaction with my wives. And I trust my wives so it’s not really a worry for me.” So it’s fine for him to have four wives but none of them better step out on him.

I would be mortified. How much more personal information do we need about them?? What has happened to privacy? Obviously at least one of them was uncomfortable doing this.

    Talk about selling your soul.

  2. cy fort says:

    no fat chicks please.

  3. the original bellaluna says:

I think it was un-necessarily cruel to reveal weights and BMI’s on TV. TLC, you’ve lost it. Truly lost it.

  4. hairball says:

What are they zoo animals now to be weighed for the public??

How about we have the dumb *ss husband go to a Mensa meeting to have his IQ publicly displayed with a plan on how to improve his 4 brain cells.

Why are these women allowing themselves to be treated this way?

  5. Quest says:

Why was this even relevant? They are all loonies

  6. i.want.shoes says:

A size 14 at 213 lbs? It must be in the same stretchy fabric that Kirstie Alley wears.

  7. Monie says:

Ok so now “fat” is called “curvy”. Whatever helps folks sleep at night. Curvy used to mean Marilyn Monroe…Jessica Rabbit. Now it means Queen Latifah. I guess “svelte” is the next moniker attached to chubbylumpkins. These new adjectives can make folks think that being that unhealthy is sexy. Sure Cody might like a little extra cushion for the pushin but it’s not all about his fantasies. I hope the ladies, espcially the 44 BMI one gets healthier for HER.

    • Hailey says:

Marilyn WAS curvy, she was also what would be considered plus size. Jessica Rabbit was a CARTOON! Come one. Youve got to be kidding.

    • Hailey says:

Marilyn was curvy, she was also what would be considered plus size. Jessica Rabbit was a CARTOON! Come one. Youve got to be kidding. You should verify facts before speaking

  8. Samigirl says:

That is so incredibly brave. I would NEVER reveal my weight for the world to see. A handful of people know mine, and it would be even less if I didn’t have to go to the doctor so damn much. However, the trainer is correct about Janelle. She does need that the most. A 44 BMI is obese. Even dropping 50 pounds would be wonderful.

@i.want.shoes.-It’s actually possible, especially if she doesn’t have big hips (I’ve never watched-so I don’t know her body shape). I’ve got a friend that is shorter and heavier than I am, and she wears a smaller size than I do, and it’s only bc she has no hips or tush, so she wears her pants below her tummy, and she’s a size so and so when she does that. It’s all in how your body is shaped and where your fat decides to plop itself. Mine likes my belly. I wear black, and you’d never tell how much I weigh.

  9. mary jane says:

This episode was about trying to keep an audience. There’s really not much happening otherwise.

I felt the trainer was completely clueless putting them through exercises that required too much focus.

At their weights 20-30 mins. simple, uncomplicated cardio. at target heart rate would have been perfect. And why aren’t they all out walking every day? They don’t have jobs. Built in babysitters.

  10. Franny says:

obese does NOT equal curvy. curvy = 2 curves, not 13.

  11. logan says:

Also I ask, at 213 lbs. a size 14? I wore a size 14 when I weighed 167. Now down to size 10, but gee what did I do wrong?

  12. JaneWonderfalls says:

Some men like bigger size women! He doesn’t look that fit to me either, I’m sure the husband can afford to shed a few pounds himself.

  13. atorontogal says:

I blindly type this because I’ve poured bleach in my eyes for having read it in the first place. How the hell did one woman let this man touch/marry her let alone four???? He must be spiking their oatmeal!

  14. madpoe says:

I was a size 14 at 168 lbs myself, but on a 5’8 frame. 213? is this misses or womens size?

  15. BW says:

Wedding bands on men are a complete turnon for a lot of women. My husband said most of the women he came in contact with during the day (not actually touching, just passed in the hall every day sort of thing) started making eye contact and smiling at him and saying hello AFTER he started wearing his wedding ring.

  16. grace says:

You know, I really felt bad for them. I married my husband 10 years ago at a size 9. A year later, had a hysterectomy, gained a ton of weight, then had a heart attack and had to quit smoking and again, gained more weight. I am in a size 22 now, and not only feel bad for myself, but also feel bad for my husband. He married a little cutie and now is married to me. I give these woman applause for being able to be happy with themselves. And I give him credit for loving them no matter how heavy they are!

  17. just a patsy says:

I don’t like Robyn either and I don’t think she fits in with the family. The other three wives have been with Kody for nearly the same amount of time. They’ve all had their children and raised them together. Robyn had another marriage, other children. Now she comes in and demands quite a bit of attention/affection. The wives all seem more tense with Robyn around.

  18. Lisa says:

I am 6″0 tall and @ 212…I am a size 12/14…so Meri could be telling the truth (don’t know her height)…

  19. ladybert62 says:

Houston, we have a problem! I do not weigh over 200 pounds and I wear a size larger than 14 – there is something wrong here.

  20. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Wow. Just when I thought this show couldn’t get MORE patriarchal, they have the women weigh in and start a weight loss program while Kody sits on his sloppy looking ass? I’d like to know how much he weighs. I think that mullet accounts for at least 5 lbs

Also, i detest Robyn. I happen to think she’s passive-aggressive and that the other ladies arent happy with her place in the family. Meri seems to be taking it the worst, and she is noticeably heavier. No matter how much the first three wives weigh, they’ll all still be too good for Kody.

  21. Sue says:

Rolling eyes, shaking head, can’t even imagine living in this situation…….

  22. gee says:

My good friend is a 200+ and a 14. She is top heavy.. and I guess dense. I wouldn’t have believed she was so heavy if I didn’t know her so well, but she is, hand to God, a 14. Go figure.

  23. Amber says:

I understand a little of the culture these women come from and I think the quote from Robyn is being misinterpreted. These women derive almost all of their worth from their husband and their children. How their husband feels about them is the beginning and end of their own expectations for fulfillment and happiness (no matter how progressive this particular polygamist family may seem). So when evaluating a husband – especially if you yourself are a divorcee with two kids – valuing how he treats his current wives is just good sense because it predicts how he’ll treat you. I doubt it has anything to do with ranking herself against his current wives to determine how she’ll fair in the relationship. These women’s earthly AND spiritual lives depend on how their HUSBAND feels about them, after all. You just cannot judge their behavior and opinions by normal standards and expect it bear any resemblance to what we all think is acceptable.

  24. blc says:

I was going to comment on this article but @MorticiansDoItDeader basically took all the words out of my mouth. I totally agree. Especially with the last line: No matter how much the first three wives weigh, they’ll all still be too good for Kody.

  25. Mari says:

@ladybert62- Body shape and where you carry your weight has a lot to do with it. Some carry more weight in their legs than their mid section or upper body, and vice versa. My sister and I have completley different body types. She’s about 5″ shorter than me and weighs about 15 lbs less but has a bigger jean size than me. She’s what she calls “hippy”. It’s all about being healthy, regardless of dress size.

  26. Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

If these ladies are revealling their sizes why not have Kody reveal the size in inches of his dong.

  27. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@Amber, I understand where you’re coming from. However, Robyn was NOT a Mormon or a polygamist before she began dating Kody. I think her pursuit of Kody was more about opportunism than spirituality. I think she liked the idea of 3 built in babysitters, a tv camera crew and notoriety. She also seems to be competitive and likes the idea of competing to be Kody’s favorite/”trophy wife” (Meri or Christine’s words).

@blc, glad to see someone else finds this as atrocious as me.

  28. Lady D says:

“No matter how much the first three wives weigh, they’ll all still be too good for Kody.”
Gotta agree with MorticiansDoItDeader (morning by the way) Too good for that goat.

  29. dovesgate says:

As of this morning I weigh 218.8 and I have size 14 pants and shirts that fit me. Of course, they came from Lane Bryant so they are cut specifically to be roomy but they are still 14’s!
I’m about an 18/20 in bottoms and L-2XL in shirts in regular stores.

Oh, and this is down from 233 – at which weight I was first put into 14’s in shirts/dress pants by Lane Bryant and 16’s in their jeans. I can’t wait until these clothes are baggy on me – that will mean I can fit comfortably into regular clothes again instead of plus.

  30. LittleFATMe says:

I know I have mentioned this before, but a year ago I was 255 with a BMI of 43.2 – it’s strange because I had this personal blinder system, every time I saw a picture of myself I was shocked, like I forgot I was that big. When I see women who weigh the same as I did it still makes me think, “NO, I wasn’t THAT big.” I was, it’s mind blowing!

  31. ROM says:

Wow people really play fast and loose with the word “curvy”.
Those women are fat; curvy is an entirely different look.

  32. Feisty says:

@MorticiansDoItBetter – Robyn was raised polygamist, and she and her first husband would have brought in sister wives “if the relationship had been stable enough.” I think her first husband is related to one of the major FLDS families??

@Amber – I agree, I don’t think she was saying that as a competitive bitch, just that past behavior is a good indicator of future behavior.

  33. Franny says:

keep it up dovesgate! getting down to a healthy size and to where you feel comfortable will be worth it in the end. promise 🙂

  34. Faye says:

I’m with you there dovesgate. I have some medical issues and gained serious weight and I’m doing my best to work it off. Some of my Lane Bryant jeans are getting baggy and soon I’ll be able go to regular shops for pants. My boobs make it hard to get tops in some places though, but, I guess I shouldn’t complain about that.

Yay for getting down to a healthy weight!

  35. Victoria says:

You know how to up the rating on this creepy show?! Listen up TLC or whatever STUPID network this is. Have the first three wives LEAVE KODY! I love it! id watch for sure!

  36. sharylmj says:

I’m glad for whatever reason that these women are looking at their health. They are all overweight, except for Robin. They should also encourage some of (or most of) their daughters to excercise and eat right as well. They are overweight because of the way they had to feed their family in the past with the budget that they had. I hope they keep it up!! I guess if this show helps them with that.. then GOOD. I wouldn’t want to put my personal info out there for EVERYONE to see.. very brave.
    P.S. Christine hates Robin

  37. Dibba says:

Ew. Whole thing grosses me out on so many levels I can’t even comment or think about this.

  38. mamakowalska says:

RUN!!!!! FAR AWAY FROM THE IDOT MAN!!!! RUN!!!!!! QUICKLY!!!!!!!!!

  39. Leticia says:

soon they will all weigh over 200 pounds.

  40. Heine says:

Seems to me he ‘likes’ bigger women because they tend to be insecure. All of them are insecure about their weight and glad that Kody will have them as they are. It’s horrible, in my opinion, that he basically has these women under his thumb because they are insecure about themselves.

And yea, they are definitely playing fast and loose with the term ‘curvy’. Curvy means hourglass shaped, not fat.

  41. Sadie says:

I’m a size 8 at 5’7” and 190 pounds. Jeez, she can be over 200 and size 14.

  42. Jaime says:

@Monie – Being thin doesn’t make you heathy, just as being overweight doesn’t necessarily make you unhealthy. I am in healthcare and I know people who run 5 miles a day who die of blockage/build up to their heart with insanely high blood pressure and cholesterol and I know heavier people who are on no medications but probably couldn’t fit into a size 14. You are horrible.

I think it is brave of these women to go on national TV, have their weight revealed and compares to the other wives. They are clearly doing this for them and their children to live a better life, shame on you all who are calling them names and saying horrible things.

  43. Elena says:

Robyn is not at all saying that she is better than them. That’s a seriously weird reading of her comment, and I mean no offence because I’m a fan of neither wife.
    Nor of Kody.:)
I believe and this is, of course, only my opinion, that her thoughts were about how he had a big heart and if he could love the others, he’d be able to love her. She said it plain and simple.
And about the weight comment- Kody loves curves, she’s not curvy, so she doesn’t have an upper hand. I read nothing mean here.
I also see no evil and hear no evil.:)

  44. blonde on the dock says:

They are fat and insecure! That isn’t horrible or calling them names. It’s truth.

  45. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@feisty, I stand corrected. The only thing I could recall about Robyn’s past was that her marriage was monogamous. I still stand by my assessment that Robyn is more opportunist than spiritualist. The “kiss” while they were courting (which the other wives say is a big no no, and never happened with Janelle or Christine), The big wedding (when all of the other ladies didn’t have one) and honeymoon, the pregnancy etc. This woman is all about one-ups-man-ship. She is not a “team player” (which is expected in this type of relationship).

    *waves @lady D…afternoon love*

  46. the original bellaluna says:

hairball – I was thinking more his penis size, but IQ (or lack thereof) works too! 😉

  47. V says:

    lol @ ‘obtuse doofus’

  48. Dee says:

The first three wives seem to get along very well. They should collectively dump Kody and move on. Based on my limited viewing Kody and Robyn are made for each other. One dumber than the other.

Janelle is my favorite. She seems so capable and level-headed. Why is she there???

  49. sharylmj says:

Janelle is there to have the sister wives help raise her kids while she has a career and makes money.. which makes her have a certain “edge” over the other wives. She alone has that bond with Kody. They are trying to make it seem like all the wives are getting involved with the business / money side of things, but I bet that’s not really the truth. They will NEVER dump Kody.. for some reason they all truly love him.. gross..

  50. Belle Epoch says:

#16 grace – most large people have a painful story, and people who are not large need to refrain from judging because they don’t have all the facts. I’m sure your hubby loves you whatever size you are. Youth fades. Love is about what’s in your heart and in your brain.

If I were one of these women I’d be eating cookies all day to try to forget the godawful situation I’ve gotten myself and my children into.

  51. Monie says:

@ Jaime: No name calling huh? Ok.

    Sincerely, Horrible.

  52. Bodhi says:

Actually, Mary Jane, I think at least one or 2 of them have jobs outside the home.

I would be MORTIFIED if I had to public acknowledge my weight. I have been struggling ever since my son was born, I know that it takes time to gain it & it will take time to lose it, but still! UGH! I also feel bad for my husband, I was a cute little thing when we met & now he is stuck with a chubbo, blech

  53. dahlia1947 says:

“why not have Kody reveal the size of his dong?” Good one!

  54. sharylmj says:

Kody keeps talking about their new family business in Real Estate, is he smoking crack?? I’m pretty sure the Real Estate market in Vegas is horrible right now.. They must be doing that just to get out of the house because their new family business is the show, right? Do they make enough to support themselves?

  55. Feebee says:

I’d bust my fat gut laughing if Janelle lost 100 pounds and ran off with her personal trainer.

  56. Jaime says:

@Monie Chubbylumpkins? That is name calling at its finest. Horrible is the way you are acting. Chubbylumpkins is a noun. Horrible is an adjective. 😀

  57. Scarlet Vixen says:

@Bodhi: Don’t be so hard on yourself! Your baby is less than a year old, right? It took you 10months to gain the weight–give yourself at least that long to take it off. Also, are you breastfeeding? It helps you lose weight quicker, but your body also holds onto the last 10lbs or so as a reserve just in case you get sick, etc. Once you stop BFing and you and your soon-to-be toddler are eating healthy food together you’ll drop the rest before you know it! And, I’m sure you’re SO much harder on yourself than your hubby. I’m absolutely wretched to myself about my body–HATE my horrible strechmarked tummy! But our guys don’t notice all that stuff like we do (guys aren’t really detail oriented). They think we’re beautiful and sexy, even when we don’t. We’re the mothers of their children and have sex with them–that’s good enough for them. 🙂

What I want to know is why the women all had their weight announced to the world and Kody didn’t? Why is his flabby gut exempt?

  58. ZenB!tch says:

I didn’t think you could be a 14 at less than 200lbs and I’m short. I’d like to see them standing up. I want to see how the 14 looks compared to Kirstie.

  59. gg says:

It’s high time they addressed the shape of this family. They ALL need to be put on exercise (why don’t they walk together?) and healthier eating. Their teenaged daughters are almost their same size – things need serious adjustment. I hope that the only reason they named their weights is to show later on how much they have lost, instead of ratings. I’d love to see them get healthier physically and then, you never know, they might stop being insecure enough to strike out on their own in a normal relationship with a decent man who is devoted only to them. I wish that for these ladies.

  60. Alicia says:

I’ve been watching this show since the very first episode. HBO’s “Big Love” is what got me curious about polygamy. Before “Big Love” and “Sister Wives”, I always thought polygamists were weirdos who lived on compounds and married underage girls. I know better now. I now know that there are “modern” polygamists, like the Brown family, who are completely normal people like me, they just happen to be in a polygamous marriage instead of a monogamous one. I don’t feel any ill feelings towards the Browns or other polygamist families like them. I DO have ill feelings towards the ones who are awful people that marry underage girls, commit welfare fraud, etc.

I live in Las Vegas and I was so excited when I heard the Browns moved here because I had the hope I’d get to see some of them while out and about one day. Well, last week I finally did. I was at a gas station filling up my car and who pulls up in the pump in front of me? Christine!! I didn’t approach her (although I really wanted to, just to say hi and that I’m a huge fan of their show and that I think her family is so incredibly nice). My husband was with me at the time and when I got in the car I was like “Do you know who that is!?!?” He recognized her because he watches the show with me sometimes. It was so cool for me because I’ve never seen someone from TV in person before.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my story. And for those of you who don’t approve of their lifestyle, I just have to say that it really doesn’t affect you at all. They’re not hurting anyone and they seem to have a happier, more well adjusted family than most monogamous households. Save your hate for the polygamists who commit crimes and leave the ones like the Browns alone. Even though I don’t know any of them personally, I think it’s pretty safe to assume they’re the type of people who’d give you the shirt off their back if you needed it, so be nice.

  61. zola fresh says:

I think these ladies are all beautiful in their own way, and Robyn isn’t fooling anyone with her fake, dense, and witchey poo face. She is flaunting the fact that she is the newest piece not to mention the skinniest that scab loves to be the center of attention….so phony. I just want to see Christine smack her one good time, postnatal of course.

  62. truthful says:

TLC is HORRID for this episode, all about the ratings, smdh

  63. Jayna says:

Curvy isn’t in the doctor’s Patient history chart. Morbidly obese is the term used with those weights and fat index.

  64. Hootie Hoo says:

That isn’t curvy. That is fat.

I wonder what their height is as well. Meri could fit into a 14 if she is 5’8 or taller.
Janelle…wow. Felt so bad for her. I hope she makes a change for herself and gets fit and ditches the black eyeliner!

Again, I Cannot stand Robyn. She announces to all the ladies how she lost 15 pounds because she simply had no appetite after the move. Way to go rub it in, lady.

With the exception of Robyn who deserves Kody, the other 3 ladies should get healthy, grab some self-esteem, get a job and move the hell out of there.

  65. Hootie Hoo says:

Has anyone noticed that since Robyn has come on the scene all the other females have gotten heavier? Meri never use to be that heavy nor some of the younger female teens. Just a observation.

  66. ManicPixieDreamGirl says:

These women are breeders. They don’t work. They just sit around on their fat asses all day eating twinkies, waiting for their husband to come home and pay them some attention. So, I’m not really surprised they are 200 plus lbs. That’s why he brought it someone thinner, hotter, and younger! As soon as she’s as worn out and used up like the other two he’ll bring in someone else. What kind of woman would put up with this kind of fuckery?

  67. CooCoo Catchoo says:

To @Grace, @Bodhi – and my other sisterfriends who are beating themselves up over their weight: I want you to know that you’re kind, giving, wonderful, loving, thoughtful people of tremendous value. You’re making a home for your husbands, your children – you probably do more for others than you do for yourselves. You’re chief cook, bottlewasher, nursemade, nurturer in your homes. Bodhi, you are a momma – that is an amazing thing in itself! You are the glue that holds your families together. I hate that society places such a emphasis on weight and looks – we are such amazing creatures, we rule the planet and being a size 8 or having a nice set of boobs isn’t all that important at the end of the day. I see these guys who are so into looks, and most of them are not 10s, either – look at Kody for Pete’s sake! Please treat yourself with love, kindness and acceptance, chicas – you are wonderful and amazing and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!

  68. Annie_Grey says:

Meri doesn’t look that big. She carries it well.

They should’ve fuzzed their weights out. That’s just degrading.

  69. Tina21 says:

Men do like curves. However when did curves equal a round shape? Sorry to be blunt, curvy is a certain shape, and its just doesn’t apply to overweight or obese women. You can be overweight and curvy. You can be skinny and curvy. We can call people skinny, boyish, or anorexic and its ok. However, we can never call people obese, fat, or overweight. Instead we label them “curvy.”

  70. Bodhi says:

@ManicPixieDreamGirl – Again, at least one or two of them work outside the home. The ones who don’t take care of the house(s) & all those kids, which is a full-time job in & of itself.

And thank you for the kind words Scarlet Vixen & CooCoo Catchoo. 🙂

  71. A~ says:

    @ManicPixieDreamGirl
Way to disregard every inch of their humanity.

  72. TrollyDolly says:

    @Alicia, (60)

Your post is excellent as was Amber’s (23)
It interests me why educated and modern women would choose such a setup. However I don’t disapprove of Polyamorous relationships in principle, I just dislike when women buy into a bullshit religious reason for it.

  73. Francesca says:

He always looks like he is acting; not a bit sincere. I am sure he is a creep. Their whole thing is disgusting, primarily b/c of him.

  74. gg says:

I dont get all the vitriol for Robin. She’s just a harmless little dumbbunny drinkin the kool-ade. I don’t think she’s phony at all, she’s dumb for real.

  75. Vicki says:

I don’t understand all the hate pouring from many of you….. I like this family, I think they are real and have a lot of love for one another. I would never choose to live a polygamist lifestyle, but to each their own. Robin seems sincere and I think she wants the best for everyone- I have never seen her as controlling or conniving. As far as Kody goes, I like the man, I think he is a good husband and father- so much better than many women/children have these days. I can’t imagine living my life in public like they do and have to have the vultures picking apart every move they make. I wish them all the best.

Get the fat slob of a husband on the scale. If you’re going for the humiliation factor, include everyone. He looks like a total creep.

UGH! Their so disgusting! Not only in their polygamy but also in their weight!
