‘Mirror, Mirror’ has a hairy new trailer: why was Lily Collins cast as Snow White?

Back in November of last year, we got our first look at the OTHER Snow White movie, the one NOT starring Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron. This one is called Mirror, Mirror, and Julia Roberts is the Evil Queen and Lily Collins (daughter of Phil) is Snow White. The first trailer was just awful – Julia is cackling away, seeming to aim for… camp, I think. Armie Hammer as the prince was the only highlight, just because he already looks like a cartoon prince.

But the film falls on the unsteady shoulders of Lily Collins, and dear God, I feel bad for this girl. She might be a fine actress – sure. But she was utterly miscast as Snow White. She’s an attractive girl, but Snow White is supposed to be beautiful, and considering how many references there are to Snow White versus the Queen’s comparative beauties, you’d think they would have gone with someone less… hairy? There’s just a grooming problem. And she looks so young, it’s kind of gross to see her with Armie Hammer.

Anyway, there’s a new international trailer, and if possible, it’s even worse than the first one. The first (domestic) trailer was more Julia Roberts-centric, and in this one, we’re seeing more of Snow White and the dwarves. It’s just… awful. Why was this poor girl cast as Snow White?!?!?

    Those eyebrows… O_O

    • scylla says:

What’s wrong with them? Are they not generic enough for you?

    • KateinNZ says:

Right on scylla… the trailer is forgettable and the acting may be questionable, but I think it is silly to pick on Lily’s appearance. She definitely has a more classic beauty and it’s nice to see a face with distinctive characteristics rather than the cookie cutter clones we’re so used to.

      • Stephanie2585 says:

totally agree with both of the above!!
i think she’s actually beautiful and thicker eyebrows can be really lovely on a woman–they totally “work” with her look! (also, i love, love, LOVE her Audrey Hepburn-esque bangs…want!)
if she had them tweezed/waxed down she’d disappear in the crowd that is Hollywood’s starlets..
I kinda want to see this movie…

    • laura says:

Lily is lovely. She has a beautiful complexion and her face is classic.

I’m more concerned about the casting of Julia Roberts – I can’t stand her. And on the other movie, there’s no way I buy Kristen Stewart as Snow White. She’s sullen and not the least bit attractive, nevermind beautiful.

  2. Camille says:

Hairy or not she is way better than lifeless Kriesten Steward. BTW who cares about Snow White it’s all about the villian.

    • Quest says:

ITA she still makes a far better Snow White than K-Stew. The movie is catered for kids so I don’t the hair thing will be an issue

    • bluhare says:

Agreed. She looks like Snow White to me. Stewart doesn’t.

  3. Gine says:

That swan hat. I just can’t.

It’s too bad this looks so terrible, because I think a well-done campy fairytale movie could be really great.

  4. neelyo says:

I’m sure it helps that she’s Phil Collins’ daughter. The influence of nepotism in Hollywood can’t be underrated.

    • Minty says:

Yep. Nepotism is never out of fashion in Hollyweird.

    • Asli says:

I also think she got the part right in the heels of that Abduction-mess and dating Taylor Lautner. They probably think that Twilight fans will want automatically like/see this movie because of the link.

      • Minty says:

Oh, I agree. Crazy Twitards will watch any movie featuring Pattinson, Stewart, and Lautner. I don’t doubt Collins+Lautner was another showmance. They “dated” long enough to promote Abduction, which tanked in the U.S. Remember when Lautner and Taylor Swift were linked for about 3 months to generate extra publicity for that crapfest movie Valentine’s Day? Hah. Sorry publicists, many of us aren’t fooled by that BS.

  5. Nilber says:

Maybe I have officially lost it but I want to see this one more than Kristen Stewarts version. It maybe because that my small son wants to see this one and it is not a cartoon. It looks campy and funny to me.

    • oh dear says:

i agree. it does seem to be aimed at children, the humor is very simple but kinda cute.

    • Reece says:

I don’t think so. It’s a matter of taste. I like camp so I’m looking forward to this one more too. It looks like it’s meant to be campy not accidentally campy.
Plus although the other one looks good I still say it looks like they invaded WETA workshop. Kinda turns me off.

    • RocketMerry says:

Exactly. Call me childish (some people do), but I actually like this trailer. It makes me want to see the movie.
Then again, I live two steps from the movie-theatre, I’m always there, and I’ll probably see the other Snow White film too. For Charlize, mostly.

  6. Kerfuffles says:

    Frida Kahlo is….SNOW WHITE!

Ahem–jokes aside, this looks dreadful. Agreed that Armie Hammer looks downright creepy hitting on underage Lily Collins. WTH were they thinking?!

Meanwhile, I think the Snow White movie with Kristen Stewart & Charlize Theron looks awesome. I didn’t think KS would work physically as Snow White, but from the trailer, she looks great in the role. She’s really grown into her looks lately. I may change my mind once I see/hear her actually ACT the part. But so far, so good. And Charlize is clearly going to kick ass as the queen.

  7. John Thing says:

    It looks AWFUL!

  8. Linn says:

I think it looks pretty fun! I might go see it with my younger sisters. And for the record, I think Lily Collins is WAY more beautiful than KStew.

  9. GoodCapon says:

Another Snow White film?! How many versions can you make from ONE fairy tale? They’re really running out of ideas now.

Why not try The Six Swans? Or The Twelve Dancing Princesses? The Goose Girl perhaps? There are lots of really good fairy tales out there but they only focus on the popular ones…

    • Bleuladi says:

I agree. I admire that she is comfortable in herself and her brows. Kristen seems to uncomfortable with well everything. Looks like a good mother/daughter movie.

    • Delta Juliet says:

The 12 Dancing Princesses! I would love to see that!

  10. Kristen says:

Oh dear. If you’re going to do Snow White, you have to do it differently than Disney. Or why bother?

Agreed that KS couldn’t act her way out of a paper bag, but the other one still looks loads better than this.

  11. Adrien says:

She’s cast as Snow because she’s got an invisible touch. She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart. It’s something mysterious and now its seems, I’m falling, falling for her.

    • Lenore says:

But Adrien, you won’t ever, no you’ll never get to know her, or be the cause of anything she does.

(One day I will have my revenge on my parents for raising me listening to godDAMN Genesis.)

      • irishserra says:

Awww… I’m only a little embarrassed to say that I still pull out my Genesis and Phil Collins on occasion and listen. I LOVE Phil Collins. My parents listened to them all the time, as well, when I was growing up (And I’ll be you’re all still younger than me). :oD

      • fabgrrl says:

Ug. I assume that when you say “Genesis” you mean the era when they let Phil Collins sing. Take a listen to some REAL Genesis, as in, Peter Gabriel singing, and Phil Collins on drums (where he belongs).

      • ol cranky says:

@fabgrrl – Gabriel era Genesis was great but I have to say that I still think Trick was probably their best/most solid studio album

  12. Monkey Jim says:

All involved in this nonsense should be hanging their heads in shame, esp YOU Julia! And as for the KStew version, I know I’ll be alone in this, but I think & hope she’ll be great. She’s be playing a dull, lifeless character for too long in Twishite that anyone would be hard pressed to make endearing. You can’t polish a turd

  13. SCREEEE says:

Put it back in your pants, Adrien.

This looks SO bad. I wonder whether Julia felt embarrassed when she saw the Huntsman trailer? Do you think she ever second-guesses her own career choices? This seems like a good place to start.

  14. sarah says:

Damn haters. It doesn’t look that bad and I think she makes a pretty decent Snow White.

    • saylor says:

lol agree. All these people criticizing it for looking just cheesy, I’m pretty sure that’s what the creators were aiming for. I think it looks cute and good for little kids. What’s so wrong with that?

  15. foozy says:

yup, those eyebrows are way too hairy, the swan hat just kills me but all in all it looks like a fun movie to watch. julia roberts looks awful in it though…

  16. foozy says:

looking forward to see KS play the roll of snow white. now, she’s a knockout!

  17. Tillie says:

I really don’t get why you are so mean about her. Okay, she has big eye brows.. But I think she looks nice and natural. I am not blown away by this trailer either, but I think kids will like it and it’s not thàt bad.

  18. Jules says:

It looks awful, but she didn’t bother me….why the Collins hate?

    • podzol says:

Yeah, I don’t get either (maybe it’s a punishment for starring in 2 absolute stinkers – Abduction and this one — and for pretending a showmance with Tay-Tay who can’t act his way out of a paper bag). I actually like bushy, natural brows, way more than chola pencil-drawn ones. It’s a bit petty to focus on that as an object of complaint, so am glad of all the comments in favour of the poor girl on the matter here.

The trailer does indicate that it’s going to be one hot mess, not even worthy of an ABC Lifetime special movie! Yes, G-rated. But still, don’t people want to achieve goodness nowadays? What happened to caring about delivering a quality product? Sigh.

  19. Mi says:

I think that this movie looks like it’s going to be so much fun, I’m definately going to see it! And Lily Collins eyebrows, well I don’t think that they actually look that bad and they kinda suit her.

  20. Larissa says:

I think that even tho they are based on the same story they are completely different movies, Mirror Mirror has obviously more of a comic touch, whereas the other one is more of the dramatic kind. Honestly, who cares if they make thousands of versions? Go see whatever you want!
As for the browns, last time I checked eyebrowns are not pubic hair, let the girl keep hers! Whats so wrong about being REAL?????

    • Lairen says:

Amen Larissa! It really hits a nerve with me when we’re all judging her for her brows. Good for her if she wants to stay more natural!

  21. Riana says:

For goodness sake that girl looks perfectly lovely. I don’t believe there is some invisible waiting in the wings ethereal amazing beauty this movie should have gone to. Everyone has a different taste for beauty, the supposed ‘beauties’ your hot dongs included sometimes get a ho-hum from me. And lay off her eyebrows, that part just reeks of high school judging.

As for the film…it’s a G rated family flick, of course it’s going to be silly camp, why are we persecuting it for something it never was or intended to be?

    • bluhare says:

      Totally agree.

    • scylla says:

I totally agree. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think she is pretty. The total fake look of most of Hollywood is much more annoying.

The jokes seem a little bit dated to me but the movie might be fun esp. for kids. The love-puppy thing is a rip-off from 10th kingdom.

And I also think KStew looks nice enough for Snow White (and in my estimation Twilight is super-bad).

  22. Rose says:

Wow Kaiser, calm down with the eyebrows!

  23. Lenore says:

I think she looks great, honestly. Variety is the spice of life and her brows suit her face. I’m delighted they left them alone and didn’t come smacking a pair of tweezers at her.

Besides, she kind of reminds me of Jennifer Connelly in Labyrinth, and that CANNOT be a bad thing, ever.

I still won’t see it though, because, well…Julia Roberts. I can’t bear the woman anymore.

  24. Jackie says:

what a bad casting decision. her brows are truly awful….for snow white.

  25. D says:

Well, I personally find it terrifying when all girls and women don’t conform to my idea of how they should look.

The possibility of even ONE actress with thick brows existing in Hollywood fills me with horror. Doesn’t she understand that it is undesirable for an actress to have a genuinely unique or distinctive look – we want cookie-cutter pseudo-uniqueness!

And think about it – what if other young girls who are also naturally hairy see an actress who looks like them portraying a famously beautiful character and start thinking they’re okay the way they are?

Quite frankly, I think this Lily Collins is dangerous – part of being a proper woman is being a conformist, fighting your biology tooth & nail, and undergoing frequent, high-maintenance beauty rituals that have no health benefits.

I say we shame & mock her until she understands that. Otherwise, those brows will be terrorizing multiplex audiences for years to come.

    • madie says:

      This is awesome.

    • I Choose Me says:

I’d ask you to marry me but I assume you’re already taken.

That was sarcasm at it’s finest.

    • LAK says:

LOL….,but seriously, there is an actress in bollywood who specialises in ‘peasant’ roles who purposely has a unibrow because of it.

I thought it was an oversight, but it is deliberate, and she’s a superstar.

    • Lairen says:

You said it ten times better than I ever could!

    • Kara Ann says:

      D,

You are brilliant! Your personal bias brought to tears (tears, damn you) to my eyes! All women, girls, any and all that have vaginas (or even want to) truly should be exposed to your subversive subservience to the new-old way of defining ourselves.

      Thank you sister, preach on!

    • Meadowlark says:

      Messiah… you have enlightened us!

    • carrie says:

      LOL great sarcasm

  26. reddmasters says:

Say something good….I LOVE it that the guys from Pit Boss are in this movie!

  27. lucy2 says:

I just saw the theater trailer for this and it looks so bad! Julia especially.
She does look REALLY young and it does come off creepy with the prince, even if they really are close in age.
I didn’t know she was Phil’s daughter, but that makes sense now that a newcomer got this huge role.
Prettier than Charlize’s evil Queen? No way. Prettier than Julia’s? Sure.

  28. LindyLou says:

Frau Unibrow….sorry can’t get past those giant things!

  29. alma says:

I went to go see a special screening of this movie a couple months ago. I went in very skeptical, but I LOVED it!!! All the weirdness in the casting and clothing comes together very well! The acting is wonderful and the storyline is great. Once it comes out I can’t wait to take my daughters to see it!

  30. Talie says:

Thick eyebrows are back in style.

  31. mummy says:

What are you talking about … this is absolutely lovely and magical. Snow White is a sweet looking as she should be. This is well played by all and beautifully edited. I think you’re just jealous that your idol Jolie didn’t get the wicked step mom part. Honestly, try to be a little less bias people!!!!

    • Kimlee says:

( I think you’re just jealous that your idol Jolie didn’t get the wicked step mom part.)

      What are you talking about?

I’m guessing your talking about Kaiser but what does her not likeing the movie have to do with Jolie she was not up for the roll so I’m not get why you brought her up.

Jolie is going to be in another motive playing Maleficent in the Disney movie Sleeping Beauty.

  32. Kimlee says:

cute its guards towards kids and I think kids will like it and want to see it.

  33. bellyache says:

How is she even remotely “attractive” when she’s so much more !?! I happen to think she’s heartbreakingly gorgeous, and was a stunner in The Blind Side.

  34. hillbilly in the corner says:

Someone who is actually not a cookie cutter hollywood version of a barbie doll…..so she has heavy brows and a puggy nose she still a very attractive girl and has her own look and doesn’t look like most of the other starlets out their with their puffed up lips , fake cheekbones and boobies out to here on a stick-thin frame…
And really the movie is Snow White, how serious can you make a “fairy tale” I can’t wait to see it. and Julia Roberts as the Queen will be a riot.. and I just plain want to look at Armie Hammer….Hell I married the 1960’s version of him and raised on that looks like him…..love thos sweet boy faced men….LOL

  35. Dibba says:

Saw her recently in “Abducted” with that Taylor Lautner guy. My daughter wanted to see it. She wasn’t very good at acting and made him look good, which is to say, she was bad. Also, the eyebrows got on my nerves, it was all I saw after a while.

  36. Nia says:

Let her keep her brows. It is better than those witch arches many women wear (myself, included). I wish I never tweezed mine so thin. Mom was right, they don’t grow back after awhile. I think she looks beautiful.

  37. Darlene says:

What’s with the hate? I think she’s stunning. I don’t see a unibrow, I just see thick, natural eyebrows. I think it’s GORGEOUS. She has her own face and it’s lovely. She’s fresh and different and doesn’t look as though she spent 15 hours in a salon to achieve her “natural” look.

Beautiful, beautiful, a thousand times beautiful.

    • MJ says:

I agree! I think she looks beautiful and interesting, much more striking than the usual fairy tale princess crap. I am all for snarking on celebs, but this article is just meaner than usual. Maybe I’ll pile on if she clips a baby in her Maserati, but until then, I think she looks and seems lovely.

  38. Nan209 says:

The eye brows are a bit overwhelming but other than that I think she looks darling…like a young princess right before she meets, marries prince charming and then has a sack full of children who turn her into an evil queen. Me, bitter? No!

  39. Haribo says:

WOW. This article is beyond bitchy!

    • novaraen says:

      Agreed!

    • LurkyLoo says:

“Isn’t this site called celebitchy?”, as I see people point out in these threads quite a bit.

I’ve been reading this site for ages and it seems there is a complex system of what or who is ok to snark on, and what/who is not. Those brows (or “browns” as someone called them upthread) are the first thing my eyes go to and truly overwhelm her face. I am sure I am not in the minority on that either. Kaiser noted the obvious. Give her a break. If it were someone you all hate on regularly it would be ok to rip the brows apart, so somehow this chick gets special treatment? Why?

And, like many others, I also find nepotism distasteful and questionable. There are multitudes of far more beautiful girls in the world who can’t get a break in Hollywood because they weren’t born connected.

This girl would not be my first choice as Snow White. Any girl with such overwhelming brows would not be my first choice. I appreciate unique looks, but they are always going to be subjective, and a gossip site with ‘bitchy’ in its name seems an appropriate place to share such opinions without reprisal.

  40. Suzy (from Ontario, Canada) says:

I think it looks cute and fun. They aren’t taking themselves seriously and I like that. She doesn’t strike me as overly hairy. It’s nice to see a fresh face instead of them recycling whoever is popular whether they fit the role or not.

  41. k says:

I would rather see natural eyebrows than over-plucked ones. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

People couldn’t get enough of Brooke Shields’s look back in the 80s. I think Lily is quite beautiful. Whether there is also nepotism or poor filmmaking involved, I don’t know, btu that is certainly fair game for a critique.

    • bitca says:

Exactly. Also, look at stills of Snow White in the old Disney feature: not a bad match, & sort of sweet. She is lovely in most pix–tho I could do w/o the Aguilera-Red lipstick in the pic with the Dwarves!

  42. DogBoy says:

Me? I’m kinda digging Ginnifer Goodwin’s Snow White character in Once Upon A Time….

  43. emma says:

I think this trailer is better because we finally see how beautiful everything looks. The acting and storytelling was better in the first trailer but I didn’t think the costumes looked great. Everything looks gorgeous here. I would watch this movie for the beauty alone.

  44. annaloo. says:

You know something, Audrey Hepburn had HUGE eyebrows too.. They were shaped, but they were large. I applaud this young lady for keeping what was a natural feature of her face, but do somewhat agree that the makeup artists should have done something to make it look less unibrow.

She is lovely lovely though, and I don’t think she was miscast. I agree with K, with her being an actress, she is fair game to discuss her appearance.. but it is a pity that with her first shot out into the public awareness…. all we can talk about is the state of her eyebrows, not her actual talent.

  45. TheOriginalVictoria says:

She is cute. But this is a role-so lets stop with the hater comments-where physical appearance will be judged since Snow White is supposed to the most beautiful girl ever!

Lily is not fugly. She’s average. There ain’t nothing wrong with that. I think I’m average in looks and didn’t have a problem with feeling beautiful or attracting the opposite, and in some cases the same sex. It is what it is.

Kristin, as much as I loathe her personality that she projects, is beautifulish. I can see her in her Guinivere warrior knock off role a lot more than I can Lily.

However, if I’m supposed to believe that anyone would find Kirstin better looking than Charlize, then that’s where I say that movie fails. Charlize is like one of the top five most most beautiful women in Hollyhell. Now, Lily compared to Julia might seem a better suited comparison. I used to love Julia before she did that Woody film and she did that BS with Moder’s ex. Her beauty has faded in my eyes.

    • MerryHappy says:

I actually disagree…. I think kristen stewart is so plain if not blatantly unattractive. Very oatmeal nilla waffers wonderbread boring and average physically and also kind of dirty looking…. Like she never showers. She also seems like she’ll smoke american spirit cigarettes all day and throw back pbr…. She’s just kind of gross and unattractive to me. Lilly on the other hands seems innocent and wide eyed, sweet, and lovely.

      • TheOriginalVictoria says:

Well that’s why I said Kristen was beautifulish. Look to be honest, I find them both plain.

But if I’m going to a movie and they are toting beauty and giving people complexes (that’s a joke!) I don’t want to see average, I want to see beauty to the max. I know it’s subjective but some people are just universal in appeal. If only CZJ wasn’t 42ish. LOL.

  46. mamaT says:

oh i love this one – this is the one i will be taking my little girls to. in the theater! I rarely go to the movies myself. the only time i’ll pay the money is to take my kids and THIS i will go see.

If i ever see the other one, it will be on HBO or netflix a year or two after its been in the theaters.

  47. Linney says:

If you’re going to rag on any Snow White movie, why not the KStew one? She’s hardly beautiful next to Charlize Theron and is about as vibrant as a dead fish onscreen. I’d take eyebrows and a modicum of talent over that any day.

  48. Ent says:

They’re not that bad. They look a lot better than the pencil-thin eyebrows some women have.

And I have thick brows too so yeah, now I feel really comfortable about how I look.

  49. Mrs. Darcy says:

She looks like a young Jennifer Connelly, so what if her eyebrows are big, she is very pretty, much more than po faced Kristen Stewart imo. I think the movie looks cute, obv. going for family friendly but maybe a bit of Princess Bride thrown in. I’d rather see this than K.Stew failing to emote in what looks like a dark Twilighty pile of crap.

  50. rtms says:

I think this version will do much better than the other. The Kstew on is in the middle of the blockbuster season and is riding on Kstew alone with some minor help from Helmsworth and Theron. I just don’t see it doing so well. Mirror Mirror looks fun and whimsical, in the same vein as Alice in Wonderland. The only problem is they don’t have Johnny Depp.

  51. Mosty says:

    Meh! I’ll watch Kstew’s one! 🙂

  52. Mackie says:

I think she’s gorgeous. I have no idea what it is about her but I want her to marry me

  53. Heather M (Heather) says:

OMG the EYEBROWS!! I can’t get past them. She would be quite cute if they’d just tame those two monsters sitting on her face. Are they going for Brooke Shields circa 1980? If so, they are failing miserably b/c Brooke Shields’ brows enhanced her beauty, whereas here… No words.

  54. Chickie Baby says:

Well, Lily’s eyebrows and Julia’s big mouth are a perfect team. Eww..
I’ll stick with the Charlize Theron version–she will outshine K-Stew with no effort at all (plus, she’s actually got acting range, which Julia does not).

  55. Reece says:

It’s the brows! I can’t get past the brows! They don’t add to her features they take away from them. This is one time I would ask that the digital gurus in SFXland would tweeze those brows. Just a little!

  56. Sarah says:

Think I’ll definitely be sticking to The Huntsman, this looks beyond terrible.

    • Rhiley says:

I totally agree. I think Charlize Theron is going to be so good in The Huntsman. I cannot wait to see her performance. I am not too excited about K Stew, but this movie looks really irriating and not funny.

  57. Cara says:

I find Lily Collins kind of interesting. She had a bit part in the Blind Side and then roles in Abduction and some vampire crap. I remember reading several reviews for both of the latter films and her acting got slammed. Personally, I don’t even find her very pretty. I’ve seen better looking girls at my local coffee shop. I suspect she got so far in Hollywood because of nepotism. Her father is of course Phil Collins and I think her mother is also connected behind the scenes. However, people keep defending her and saying she is a better Snow White than Kristen Stewart blah blah blah even though Stewart isn’t playing a traditional Snow White at all. I seriously wonder if any of these people have seen Lily act. I’ve seen some of Stewart’s movies outside of Twilight…she’s pretty decent and she gets good reviews. Also, she may not be as attractive as Charlize but (what under 25 starlet with a big name (Mia W, Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively) is besides maybe Jennifer Lawrence. When I see Kristen Stewart, I see a very pretty girl. When I see Lily Collins, I see an incredibly awkward looking 15 year old. It is just really interesting to me to see how people have such different opinions on the matter.

  58. Petunia says:

My question is not why this girl was cast as Snow White. Sure, she has hairy eyebrows but I think they work, for the most part.

My question is why was Kristen Stewart cast as Snow White in the other film? There is no way on or off Earth that she could be considered the fairest of them all.

  59. Alexa says:

Snow White is supposed to have skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony. People with hair black as ebony usually have black eyebrows. I like them – they set off her face and make her look distinct.

The plucked look is so boring and makes every young woman look somewhat the same.

  60. Julie says:

What a miserable post. She’s lovely.

  61. replica says:

She’s absolutely beautiful. You guys have Cosmo sensibilities and a shallow vocabulary for beauty.

    • Cara says:

Eh…I find people who are not “cosmo” or the traditional type of beautiful attractive. I think Javier Bardem, Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, Tilda Swinton, Mia W, etc are attractive people. I don’t think Lily is even the slightest bit attractive. Different strokes for different folks is all.

  62. My Darling Pinkett says:

Wow, I really don’t understand all the dislike you have for this girl. I don’t see anything wrong with her eyebrows. They’re natural, unlike most of the plucked-to-death brows most celebs have. And I think she’s far more suitable as Snow White than Kristen Stewart. If there is any casting choice you should be questioning, it’s Kristen.

I think Lily at least has likability and warmth going for her, and she’s pretty. They also didn’t cast some gorgeous actress to play opposite her, making it seem unrealistic that the Queen would find her to be a threat. So it works. She also seems more suited to comedy.

I think the movie looks cute and watchable, and it’s so different from the other one that it’s barely worth comparing them. But I for one don’t appreciate a Snow White film attempting to be the next Lord of the Rings. I’d go with the light-hearted one first.

  63. Trek Girl says:

I love Lily Collins’ bold, dark eyebrows and hair. It gives her a very youthful and innocent appearance, which is perfect for Snow White, and it shows off the paleness of her skin, which I think is the point of the styling.
I do think that her eyebrows could have been neatened up a little, but that too could be intentional as it adds to her youthful appearance – I like it. I don’t know that I will see this movie (I really don’t like Julia Roberts), but I think it would be worth seeing just for the costumes, hair, and makeup. You never know, it could be a good, fun movie.

    • Trek Girl says:

Ok, I take back what I said about Lily Collins’ eyebrows possibly needing to be neater; they are perfect and don’t need to be changed at all.
I also take back what I said about Julia Roberts. I still don’t like her very much, but she looks like she’s going to be a riot in this movie.

Oh my gosh, I can’t wait to see it!

  64. Sasha says:

I think she has a charming, lovely face. A very cute Snow White. Kristen’s Snow White is going to be much darker I think, which makes her more suited to the role. To be honest they both look like very watchable films.. I want to see both!

    • Trek Girl says:

Yes, these movies, while both are about Snow White, aren’t the same and aren’t meant to be the same, so I think people should stop comparing them so much; it’s apples and oranges, basically.

I haven’t seen the trailer for the Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron’s Snow White movie, but it does look interesting, and if Kristen can emote more than she has in the past than it could be really good.

  65. Eric says:

Not only is this girl average looking, but she can’t act worth a damn.
Don’t they have any young talented actresses who look like young Liz Taylor?
Chloë Moretz would have been a better choice here. And Julia Roberts should retire like yesterday, her acting here is atrocious.

  66. deva says:

I think she is so pretty. Very much like Audrey Hepburn. I am digging the eyebrows.

  67. novaraen says:

She’s prettier than Kristen Stewart. It’s just that her eyebrows dominate her face. Groom them and I think she would be very lovely.

  68. danielle says:

I think Lily Collins is VERY beautiful – also I think her eyebrows need thinned. She does look WAY too young for Arnie Hamor.

  69. kimberly says:

Where the fuck did they find the most NON FAIREST actresses of them all!

I love how a nobody got the role, but what the fuck is up with the way she is saying her script?

Ya. So will not take my niece and nephew for this one!

It looks REALLY REALLY REALLY bad!!

    Bad casting
Bad idea for a motion picture. Would have like an original movie!!!!!!!!! An original story idea!!!!!!
    Bad Disney Bad!

I understand what they were trying to go for, but no. Sorry. There is no way I’m wasting 50bucks on the “theater experience” for this piece of shit movie!

  70. mamaT says:

i wonder what the comments would have been if celebitchy was around when princess bride was being made?

  71. AngelMay says:

She was cast because Snow White cant be prettier than Julia Roberts!

  72. sm255 says:

Okay, who’s the one who revived Frida Kahlo for this role? (trying so hard to be polite and not make a unibrow joke).

  73. Jenne Frisby says:

I think Lily Collins is really pretty. I even like her eyebrows; mine are too wispy. And I agree with the above commenter that she has a classic beauty– in some of the shots with her bangs down I’d even say she was reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn.

  74. CARLA says:

lol all you jealous hags who say Kristen is ugly, give me a break, you might not like her acting, but she is gorgeous, stop hating so much, ohh ans SWATH looks much better than this crap

  75. I think I have this image of Snow White from Disney, and Lily interpretation of the character chafes against that ideal. Kristen Stewart is a joke, aesthetically and as an actor. I am willing to give Lily a chance, though.

  76. MayaMae says:

She looks adorable with the bangs. The picture is blah but she looks very pretty in the trailer. Armie Hammer is only 25, he just looks much older.

I think the movie looks cute and I DESPISE Julia Roberts.

  77. elisa says:

I’ve already seen this in a screening. My friends and I (all twenty-somethings) actually really liked it (except for the very end, but that can be changed and I think most people hated it so maybe all our combined surveys will change it). It was pretty fun and campy, and Lily did fine, acting-wise. Julia was an over-the-top villain, but that suited the tone of the movie. I would recommend it, especially for a fun movie with the family.

  78. Maya says:

Whenever I wonder why an actress was cast, I automatically think ‘casting couch’.
    It still exists.

    • Minty says:

Yes, it has always existed. But if you’re not particularly talented AND one or both of your parents are famous, then you can avoid the casting couch because of your family connections.

  79. Pizzazz says:

Both are not nearly attractive enough for their respective roles as fairest in the land. Especially Roberts. I couldn’t believe it when I heard she was playing the evil queen. She could pull it off when she turns into the hag, though.

  80. ocean says:

Ewww she is so close to having unibrow in the picture with the yellow cloak.

Does anyone watch the tv show Once upon a time? Ginnifer Goodwin portrays the best snow white and she is absolutely beautiful.

  81. Jeannie says:

Are they sure the girl is really Phil Collins daughter? She looks with the pout and the big bottom lip more like Daniel Craig’s and Rachel Weisz’ long lost daughter.

  82. LittleDeadGrrl says:

I don’t mind her brows. I think she is very beautiful, that doesn’t bother me, but the whole movie looks really dull and campy in a very boring way. Maybe a better cast could have pulled it off and I find out a bit strange and creepy that both Julia Roberts who looks 40 and Collins who looks about 15 are going for the same boy.

Sorry, Kristen Stewart’s Snow is winning if only because I do love Charlize Theron.

  83. Lilly says:

I don’t understand why we need either Snow White movie! Really — can Hollywood ever come up with an original idea these days. But I think Lily Cole is an extraordinarily pretty girl, even if
the eyebrows are a bit think. She has the sweet, fresh, innocent prettiness of a Snow White.

  84. mummy says:

By the way, has anyone seen the original Disney Snow White. They are obviously trying to emulate the character in real life and the eyebrows and curve in the mouth are all part of that. Also, did anyone see Harry Potter and his eyebrows? It’s an artistic touch that no one has said a world about. The girls always get the flax and can do nothing right. If you don’t like it blame the makeup artist but why pick on this very pretty young woman.

  85. Jen says:

Thick, shapely eyebrows used to be the standard for beauty. I think Lily is gorgeous beyond words, and the unplucked eyebrows make her look young and fresh-faced. I think a gossip blog who prides itself on being more intelligent and thoughtful that the others should know better than to rag on a girl for something like how hairy her eyebrows are. Seriously, petty and cruel. Get over it.

  86. carrie says:

i want to see the 2 versions:this one looks so campy and more kid-oriented

  87. NM6804 says:

One of my fav actresses (Jennifer Connelly) is also a thick brows girl: love her, love her acting and love the fact that she stands out and doesn’t compromise to generic features in the hopes of getting more roles/recognition. Collings gets no hate from me on that, I find her face lovely and unique.
That said, the trailer still looks super shite to me. Still prefer the Theron/Stewart film also because the plot seems more like my cup of tea.

  88. Amanda says:

Pretty girl, but her eyebrows could use some serious attention.

  89. sam says:

I think she is beautiful, if a little unusual looking by typical Hollywood standards (not botoxed to hell, and plastic).

It looks like a goofy kids movie.

  90. Camille (The original) says:

Yikes. It looks awful and so budget looking.

  91. Ranga says:

She doesn’t look hairy to me. I really like her brows.

  92. Brina says:

Still better than Kristen Stewart that’s for sure.

  93. Rachel says:

I think the movie looks like it could be fun, especially with kids. Armie Hammer DOES look like a cartoon prince, LOL! (He’s cute, but it’s true.)

I think Lily Collins is lovely, but her brows need *just a tad* more thinning. Just a teeny bit, so her face looks more balanced rather than the brows being the first thing you see. I do like the natural brow look.

I am American, but I found Snow White and the Prince’s American accents rather jarring. Maybe because the fairy-tale clothes and the casual, modern accent seem odd together? Wondering if anyone else had the same thought.

  94. Kristin says:

Kaiser must love the pencil thin drawn on eyebrow look. All my life I have had thick black eyebrows, and always made fun of like the bitches on this this site! Good to see someone can make it in HW without looking like everyone else.
