Taylor Swift donated $4 million to new country music education center in Nashville

Here are some new photos of Taylor Swift in Santa Monica yesterday. I’m not going to go on and on about Swifty’s Bolt-On Watch, but I will just say that there are still mixed opinions about whether or not she got ‘em done, and I still think she did. These aren’t the best photos to really check out her bust, but I see a busty swell in that button-down shirt, and I think that swell is relatively new. Also: I love Swifty’s hair here, and the red lips are fantastic. Some girls can just pull off red lips, and surprisingly enough, Swifty is one of them (I am not).

In other Swifty news, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is about to open a “Taylor Swift: Speak Now” exhibit. Swifty has given (lent?) “costumes, instruments, props and set pieces” from her Speak Now tour to the museum, which will be open throughout the CMA Music Festival in Nashville. Swifty is historic, it seems. It’s also possible that this is a bit of tit-for-tat, so to speak. Swifty donated $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum a few weeks ago – she targeted the money to help fund “a new 7,500-square-foot education center at the museum.” It was the largest monetary donation by any artist in the history of the Country Music Hall of Fame, and they’re naming the education center after her too – the Taylor Swift Education Center! And now she’s let them borrow all of her costumes and set pieces too.

Say what you will about Swifty’s personal life – which I suspect is not half as vanilla as she would have us believe – but she is a really good girl. She has consistently put her money where her mouth is, and she consistently donates to education causes and children’s charities. Well done, Swifty. Go ahead with your (alleged) bolt-ons.

I like it when celebs donate, adopt and volunteer. Respect!

Educate about country music? Why does that even need $4M?

    • Julie says:

to bribe people to listen to it.

The Country Music Hall of Fame is one of my favourite museums in the USA. One of the reasons is its architecture: the exterior of the building pays homage to many of the things that are important to the roots of the music: there’s an old fashioned radio tower, a scroll of musical notes to the “anthem” of the Opry, the windows look like a keyboard, and the whole building is shaped like a treble clef. I realize as I write this, that it sounds awful, but it really is incredible, as are the exhibits inside: a silver dollar-encrusted Caddy: come on! Anyway, $4 million won’t go too far if they wish to create an extension that maintains the integrity of the building.

And since I am a fan of “real” country music, rather than shout-outs to beer, trucks and girls in cut-offs, anything that helps people re-discover the dobro and the autoharp and the poetry of the older lyrics is fine with me. So thank you Ms Swift!

    • Ramona Q says:

Ya, I don’t get what this $4 million is for exactly, either. She’s classy, though, which is refreshing. And I’m so glad she’s getting young girls to play the guitar!

    • grace says:

Arts education is as good a cause as any imo. Her donation will help provide classrooms and equipment for children’s music and painting classes and the space will also be used for senior citizens and teenagers.

    • Seagulls says:

It’s to build an education center. Whether that means construction costs at the front or funding to pay staff after it’s built, how do you not see how four million will be quickly spent?

I’m going to repress the cynic inside me that’s bitching how a lot of celebrities only do this for PR and instead say ‘Well done Swifty!’
Today, you do not irritate me.
    Much.
But please girl, eat a brownie or two!

  4. ShanKat says:

Fab use of red lipstick *and* of money. Well done, Swifty.

  5. JuliaDomna says:

So sick of this red lipstick thingy paired with stupid clothes. But good on her for donating, though I’d be hard-pressed to figure out what else people would do if they were blessed with wealth. I mean, I’m hurting and I still donate….

  6. gg says:

    Gorgeous!

  7. daz says:

i’m too tired to go on about this, lets just wait for the next time she’s in a bikini then we’ll all know

  8. Jaime says:

Bless her! She’s such a beautiful doll. It’s possible she just started the pill, and her boobs swelled up. I went from a 34B to a 34C-D in about two weeks. I was like, WHAT???? It happens.

  9. why? says:

And Taylor did it without turning it into a huge “Look at me” festival, like jumping on twitter and writing over 20 tweets patting herself on the back for being so king and generous like one particular country artist does everytime she associates with charity.

I like how Taylor donated the money that she earned, instead of just asking her fans or another organization for it. There is one particular country artist who asks for donations from her fans or other organizations and then will turn around and take back to back expensive vacations to Cabo, Aspen, and Hawaii.

    • NinaS says:

Exactly! Leann Rimes presents a wheelchair and acts like she made the donation which she did NOT. I don’t see Taylor patting herself on the back and this is so refreshing. She seems like such a genuinely nice person and gorgeous too, without even trying.

  10. marie says:

    good for her..

  11. Launicaangelina says:

If I had the money, I’d buy boobies too. They’d be for me and no one else. Good for her. They don’t look gaudy or painful (i.e. Tracy Anderson).

Also, kudos for the donation! Personally, I’m not a fan of country music (especially the new stuff) but there’s a deep, rich history with the genre. I try not to judge others on their taste of music because we all like what we like for whatever reason.

  12. SMH says:

Taylor Swift seems like such a good decent human being. She does a lot of charity work and donates time and money without blasting it out for all to see. She doesn’t make headlines for drinking or drug binges (I’m looking at you Lohan), or acting like a diva. She has a craptastic love track record, but it gives her inspiration for her songs. I like some of her music, although her live performances can be a little rough.

And I think she rocks that red. I usually like how she does her make up.

So either her parents really cared about her and raised her right and helped her navigate fame while staying grounded. Or she’s got us all fleeced. I’m pretty sure it’s the first option.

  13. QQ says:

I For one I’m Glad that the National Nightmare of The Angel Curls with Straight Bangs IS OVAH!! May be never see it again

  14. cupidtyrox says:

    Good form her.
I suspect she really IS a good girl. I’ve seen her acting..(shudder)

  15. EmilyM. says:

Good for her. But that sweater…bad. Very bad.

  16. Happy21 says:

Love the red lipstick on her.

As far as the bolt ons go, I’m going to err on the side of caution only because there are some pretty amazing bras out there. A friend has one that make her go from a B to a D just like that. And if she did get them done, she kept them a good size and you know that we will never see them flashed in our faces.

Her donations and charity work are an inspiration and with any luck she will inspire some of these greedy celebs to give away some of the atrocious amounts they are earning.

  17. Faye says:

Good for her! I’m pretty “meh” about her and her music, but I think that this is pretty great.

  18. UniqJaz says:

I love her outfit, and hair.

  19. skuddles says:

Her heart is obviously in the right place.

  20. NinaS says:

And lo and behold, no cheesing for the Paps. She obviously doesn’t call them for a “candid” shot.

  21. Franny says:

I’m so jealous of people who can wear bright lipstick! I am not one of them, but I wish I could. Plus I love the bottom half of that outfit. Dang it Swifty, top trying to win me over!

  22. Sean says:

While this is incredibly nice, there a few problems with this.

First, the big one. If people learn about music, they are going to stop buying tickets to her shows. She is almost completely without talent. Tone deaf, and almost always out of key. Her songs are like something the fat girl in the slow class would write in her notebook, once she got off her cell phone.

Second,4 million? She is going to need that money. She isn’t going to have a long, big career. Her fans will outgrow her fairly quickly. She will still have work. After all, amusement parks, state fairs, and third rate cruise ships still need entertainment.

The thing is, I don’t actually dislike her. She is without talent, but seems nice enough. IN fact, a family friend did some work for her. She said that Swift was much nicer to people she didn’t have to be nice to than expected. It is just that someone decided to make her a star. Someone is making a lot of money off her.

  23. Kosmos says:

She got a great voice. She’s also a wonderful role model for young women because she’s somewhat wholesome looking and doesn’t seem to go for the slutty look. I like her for being herself. We should support more women life Taylor Swift. She got a lot of talent compared to say, JLo or even Rihanna, who are marginal.

  24. FreeSpiritedGirl says:

Oh I so love Taylor Swift! You go girl! <3
That red lipstick really suits her. I now wish she was Bella in Twilight. Kristen is bleh.
P.s. I love her style. She looks amazing in these pics. I am gonna look for those pants. They look great. 😀

  25. joe says:

Biggest talent in mainstream music an an allaround lovely girl.

  26. Ravensdaughter says:

Nice work! Music education is so underfunded-I hope that Taylor keeps up with this project.

  27. sup says:

she looks so pretty here! keep it up!
