These are some new photos of Eva Mendes getting (you guessed it) Starbucks yesterday in LA. So it appears that Eva and Ryan Gosling are back from their wonderful and exciting Canadian tour, where Ryan brought his girlfriend to his mom’s college graduation, thus signifying to the world that Eva is THE ONE. Did you just have a rage-stroke? I don’t really know if Ryan thinks Eva is “The One” but they do seem to be surprisingly solid for a celebrity couple. Especially considering that just a few months ago, it seemed like Ryan was looking for a way out. But Eva got him back! How does she do it? An insane body, for sure. But she’s also plying him with unlimited Starbucks.
Can you just spend a minute talking about these photos? I realize that it might have been steamy and humid yesterday in LA (was it?) – but it feels like the paparazzo smeared Vaseline on the lens so that Eva could be photographed like an old-fashioned romantic heroine. I wonder if this was a mistake, a minor glitch by the photographer… or whether Eva is setting these candid photo-ops up, and she likes to be photographed a certain way? She definitely wants people to know she’s buying coffee for Ryan – even the photo agency notes that she was picking stuff up for her boyfriend. Is Eva the official coffee-getter of the relationship? Because I never see Ryan at Starbucks. At some point, shouldn’t they invest in a quality coffee maker? Perhaps a French press?
Anyway, they’ve lasted longer than I had predicted, so I’m not going to make any more calls about their future. They’ve been doing this for eight or nine months so far – it will be a year in September/October, I think. What’s next? A breakup? Or a baby? All of the caffeine isn’t good for babies.

Yeah, what’s the story with this movie? I heard a rumour it was screened to get into Cannes, but was rejected. I also heard it didn’t screen because it wasn’t ready. I really hope it comes out soon, because I am sick of this showmance being pushed down my throat. I will determine they are more than PR only if they last past the premiere of the movie. I will also entertain the notion if they start actually looking like they are in love with each other.

People are going to lose their effing minds when I say this, but Ryan Gosling is becoming a marker for me for movies to avoid. The only thing I have liked him in is that one with Kirsten Dunst, where he played a sullen psycho, which suits his style. Sullen is pretty much it with Ryan.
His gangster flick was on preview before Prometheus. Hilariously dreadful! It was like someone threw a Bugsy Malone-themed birthday party for Gosling and they all put on a high school production of the Untouchables/LA Confidential.
It didn’t screen because it wasn’t ready is my understanding. I’m not suprised considering it was shooting up until the end of last year. I wouldn’t write it off though… I have faith in the director Derek Cianfrance who was behind Blue Valentine which happens to be one of my favorite films in the last decade or so. If you avoid Gosling films but enjoyed the wobbly “All Good Things”… then, we have a big problem. I’m not the biggest Gosling fan but the man can act and he chooses his films wisely for the most part. “Half Nelson”, “Lars and the Real Girl”, “Blue Valentine”, “Drive”, “Ides of March” are all fantastic films so I don’t see how any of them would even be considered bad films let alone ones to avoid unless you just really really hate Gosling for no good reason. As for “The Place Beyond the Pines”, I’m stoked to see Gosling and Rose Byrne… Mendes and Bradley Cooper not so much. I’m hoping Mendes has been reduced to cameo and judging by the story outline, I don’t think she has a pivotal part.
I think Ryan Gosling’s reign is finally over and we’ve completed the transition into Year of the Fassbender.
Fassbender is a very good actor but his last movie Prometheus is disappointing, but I think the next are promising (twelve years a slave….). I also think Ryan Gosling is no longer the indie actor people like ; wonder who is the new hipster actor ?
Well Ally, that’s interesting because Ryan didn’t make much promotion for the movie with Kristen Dunst, he said the only good thing about the film was her. My favorite film of ryan is the first one “the believer”, and it’s true that his recent choices are not that good last year Crazy Stupid Love and even the Ides of march.

I think you can tell when an actor is driven by artistic reasons or by fame and fortune reasons. But then I do think Gosling is involved in all these staging photo ops with Mendes. He had 3 movies out last year non of them made big money at the box office. Someone is pushing him to become an A-lister and believes the best way to do this is staging a showmance and he is going along with it. Maybe even the breaking up a fight in NY was staged, wouldn’t surprise me. Unless Mendes I dont really get a mean vibe from him. He seems to be a bit delusional and likes to stay in character all the time even when the movies have wrapped. He keeps things from his movies like Bianca the sex doll, the bike from Pines or his car from Drive, which explains him being artistically inclined but also that he likes to live in a fantasy rather than reality.

Either he’s with her because he likes her, or because he has a contract he must honor until the movie comes out. I speak from person experience that I can say she’s an utter b*tch, so I hope it’s contractual on Ryan’s part.
I am pretty sure there is some contract and a timeline involved. They may have hooked up for real at some point and maybe now they are just trying to be friends as best as possible, because they have to promote this movie at some point and it’s best to not be at odds. If there was real love involved in this why not admit and acknowledge it, especially when so many people don’t like Mendes because of her bad stories. I mean if I would be in love with someone I would definitely show up and show my love to support that person. Gosling/Mendes photo ops look very staged and not naturally/lovely at all.
