Princess Choupette Lagerfeld gets another mag spread: overexposed & try-hard?

OMG. Karl Lagerfeld allowed Choupette, his darling kitty, to pose for yet another magazine photo shoot, and he gave ANOTHER interview about his fluffy little princess. This is Choupette’s second magazine spread in a week! A few days ago, I covered Choupette’s extensive photo shoot with I-D Mag, and now here she is in Harper’s Bazaar. Choupette is such a famewhore. She’s so try-hard. Except that it’s working! I love hearing about Choupette. I can’t believe how jealous I am of this cat. Anyway, you can read Karl’s full interview with Bazaar here – and it’s definitely worth a read. It’s ALL-CHOUPETTE. Here are some highlights:

KRISTINA O’NEILL: I’m sorry to hear that Choupette was sick last night.
KARL LAGERFELD: Yes, but she is better. She had eaten something she wasn’t supposed to eat. They had changed her food because she’s grown-up now, and the food was not right yet. So I had the doctor come in the middle of the night.

KO: I’m glad she has 24-hour medical attention.
KL: The doctor had never seen a cat with so many people taking care of her. You know, she has two maids, and the driver takes care of her too.

KO: Are you sure she doesn’t have an attitude?
KL: She has an attitude like a princess.

KO: Does she meow a lot, or is she a purrer?
KL: No, no, no—everything is done with the eyes. She knows exactly what she wants.

KO: Tell me about her eating habits.
KL: She goes in the kitchen and sits in front of the food. She doesn’t like to eat on the floor, so I have to put the food on the table. Her dishes are by Goyard. She has one for water, one for her little croquette, and one for her pâté. You have to serve everything, and she makes a choice.

KO: Does she have a favorite person besides you?
KL: I hope not! But, yes, the two maids, especially one called Françoise. They spend hours together and do her beauty jobs, her hair, and all those things, and they have moments of tenderness with her. They have to write in the book exactly what they’re doing. Because there’s a diary, I know everything.

KO: Does she get brushed a lot?
KL: Yes, she has to. You know, she has long white hair. Two times a day.

KO: Has she ever used Klorane hair powder like you?
KL: No, never. That’s not necessary. Anyway, everything with a spray she hates. Room spray or even perfume—she hates it!

KO: She doesn’t like Chanel No. 5?
KL: No, no, no. She likes the smell of juicy food.

KO: So what does she play with?
KL: She likes strange toys, toys that aren’t supposed to be toys. She plays with pieces of wood, pieces of paper, shopping bags. She loves shopping bags.

KO: Are they all Chanel?
KL: No, her favorite one is a huge Colette shopping bag that’s under the kitchen table. She spends hours in there and brings all her toys in there. And when I’m in bed, sometimes she comes and brings all her toys in my bed.

KO: She must have met a lot of people in the fashion industry by now.
KL: Yes, everybody wants her, but I say no! She’s really a stunning beauty. Her eyes are blue, blue, blue, blue, blue. And also her movement is so beautiful.

KO: Does she scratch? Does she have claws?
KL: Yes, the doctor does her manicure. She hates when we do it ourselves. The only time she makes a scandal is then.

KO: How much time a day does she spend sleeping?
KL: Quite a lot. I don’t know; I’m not there all the time. But when I’m working, she sits next to me. And when I want to write letters, she sits on the papers because she doesn’t want me to write letters.

KO: Do you wish you’d gotten a cat sooner?
KL: No, I never thought I would like cats.

KO: Because you’re a dog person?
KL: I love dogs, but dogs, you have to be in the country with dogs. I cannot walk a dog on the street. Cats take better care of themselves; they like to be alone. Cats are better in the house.

KO: Would you ever think about getting a second cat?
KL: No, no, no, no, no. She’s the one.

[From Harper’s Bazaar]

Aw, you know what this is? Karl Lagerfeld has never had a cat before. He is a first-time cat person, and he’s discovering the joy of cat-ownership. Except “ownership” isn’t the right word. Choupette isn’t owned by Karl. She is his life partner, his roommate, his little fluffy friend and confidante. Choupette is the daughter Karl never had. FOR REAL.

she looks a little puffy and tired, must be the crack, she needs a stay at the clinic or soon she will be found walking around champs elysee trolling for toms, same old story

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

Non, Non I say! Choupette is the picture of good breeding and the product of the “right kind” of upbringing! Karl would not permit anything less!

I’m most certain Kathy Lee would agree. (Smug judgmental bitch.)

    • RocketMerry says:

Sure, she does look puffy, but I’m guessing salty food and poor digestion. I can’t even begin to entertain the idea that gorgeous Chopette could have the same kind of vices of the likes of Lohans!

Please, let this be untrue! * cries out loud “leave Choupette alone”, like any good Choup-hard should do when confronted with the reality that their beloved idol has terrible flaws *

  2. Joanna says:

famewhore! she slept her way to the top! can’t stand this beyotch! lol

    • Chatcat says:

Joanna…well stated. We all know that it wasn’t the crypt keeper cattin’ around. Keep the cat ditch the corpse!

    • Eleonor says:

I’m with you. And I think she is a fake beauty, she is wearing fur extensions!!!

      • I’m also with you. I’m so tired of that ugly white haired man and his white cat I can’t stand it. Why doesn’t somebody go in the deep files and find pictures of him when he was FAT. He’s got so many rude comments to make about other people, it would be fun to see his fat pictures.

  3. Bad Irene says:

that cat has a better quality of life than I do, Yo Karl your pussay be fancy!

    • Blake says:

“Yo Karl your pussay be fancy!”

^ THIS! I am literally laughing out loud right now. Hilarious.

  4. gee says:

It’s actually very sweet. Everyone should have a pet they are absolutely in love with!

  5. kate says:

I love Choupette! to be fair, If I had the money and clout that Karl has, I’d have my two kitties in every magazine too, they’re so awesome. Welcome to the crazy cat lady club Mr Lagerfeld!

  6. Talie says:

Can you imagine if he ever had adopted a child…lord have mercy!

    • Ennie says:

Hard to imagine, since the poor baby had to have like a guarantee stamp that s/he will grow to be beautiful(and slim).
A cat is good for him hehe.

      • Eleonor says:

        I don’t know.
I have a friend who works in fashion industry, in Milan. One day we were talking about fashion, and desingers (I love some juicy fashion gossip) and about Bear Karl being an heartless frozen bitch, it was after he stated something like “minks are dangerous, fur is good”, and he told me Karl Lagerfeld is much more warm than people think. My friend told me Karl Lagerfeld has a sister, and she has a son with special needs. My friend discovered this in a fashion week (don’t know if Paris, or NY) because Kaiser Karl brought his sister and her son with him; and he was very nice to the kid: he talked a lot to him, and he paid a lot of attention to have him involved in what was happening.
After this I like to think to Kaiser Karl as an old queen with a heart (somewhere).

      • Ennie says:

He has a heart(as proven by his love for his cute kitty), but I think that if he had a human child instead of a cat child, he would have to swallow all the kunty things he has said of others, (like of Pippa, Adele). He is funny, tho.
In his own words, talking about Carine Roitfeld’s children:
“Yes, no one can say that you don’t take care of them. You’re also lucky because they are very beautiful. It would have been difficult to have an ugly daughter.
If I were a woman, I would love to have lots of kids. But for men, I don’t believe in it.”

, now tha would be funny.

  7. ChimChim says:

LOVE the cat ears on him in the first pic!

  8. Aussie girl says:

Soon Karl will be wearing a scunchy in his hair with a jumper that reads ” I love me kitty”. I joke!! I’m happy that something has touch is stone cold hart. Choupette makes my cat Kevin seem so street.

  9. Trillian says:

I love cats. What with all the stupid cracked out actresses, I’d much rather see moe magazine spreads of cats. MY cat is even cuter, maybe I could pimp her out?

  10. Lizzie K says:

    Reminds me irresistibly of Blofeld.

  11. TheOriginalKitten says:

I always say that people who proclaim to not be “cat people” are either people who have never owned a cat or people who had one bad childhood experience with a wily kitty (scratch, bite or just general meanness).

An ex of mine always said he wasn’t a cat person (we dated before I had my kitty Z). When we broke up he met a new girl (who was a HUGE cat person) and they adopted two kittens. He is now a cat fanatic. Ultimately, everyone is powerless when it comes to the allure of a sweet kitty!

    • Eve says:

I always say that people who proclaim to not be “cat people” are either people who have never owned a cat or people who had one bad childhood experience with a wily kitty (scratch, bite or just general meanness).

Or they’ve been taught to hate cats (not to mention there’s a lot of misogyny going on with all the “cat hating” — men aren’t supposed to like cats or they’ll have their masculinity questioned, isn’t it?).

I spent my entire childhood listening to crap from people: “Cats aren’t to be trusted”, “Cats will give you asthma”, “Cats do not love you, they love the food/place”, “Cats aren’t loyal” and so on…

Yet I’ve never seen any of these things happening — I’ve never had asthma, never felt “unloved” or “betrayed”, never felt anything other than love and gratitude from the cats I’ve rescued/adopted through my entire life.

So…I’m naturally suspicious of those who say they hate cats. They never give a good reason for that — also, why on earth would anyone hate an innocent, irrational animal?

P.S.: Yes, I have been bitten and scratched. Those were bites and scratches of love, I say 🙂 .

P.P.S.: Remember when you questioned my love for Jesse Eisenberg? One of the reasons I love him is that he’s a HUGE cat person. He has adopted and fostered many kittens — and shamelessly talks about it during his interviews.

      • Eleonor says:

“I’m naturally suspicious of those who say they hate cats”. 🙂
I have a purse with written something like “don’t trust who doesn’t like cats”.

      • Eve says:

        🙂

I’d love to have any of these:

        http://catversushuman.spreadshirt.com/

By the way, that website (Cat versus Human) is awesome.

      • Oi says:

lets not forget the original dude cat lover, Jim Davis (The one who created the Garfield comics)! The second most popular comic strip in history would never have been created if not for a farm boy and his love of cats!

      • sup says:

i agree with eve. cats are loving, intelligent and honest. and they don’t pretend to love you even for the sake of shelter. if a cat truly dislikes their owner, it will leave. cats have been widely misunderstood and it’s time that it stops.

      • NYC_girl says:

Eve – love Jesse after seeing him in Zombieland! A little hotter for Woody now though. : )

    • IzzyB says:

My Dad never had pets (army brat) and claimed not to be a cat person.

My mum waited until he went away and bought our first cat. Within two weeks she was his little Princess Sooki-Wookie-Pie and she needed a friend.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        @ Eve:

“The more movies I do the more guilty I feel and the more cats I feel I need to alleviate the guilt I feel from doing the movies”

Oh man…I kinda love him now 🙂
All you had to say was that JE was a cat-lover and I would have understood! 😉

I SO 100% agree with everything you said, Eve. Not to get into a dog vs cat battle (I love dogs too, I love ALL animals) but there seems to be this prevailing opinion that dogs are friendlier than cats. So unture. I know so many dogs that ADORE/WORSHIP their owner but act like they don’t see anyone else. Now cats, cats will worship/adore ANYONE who pets or feeds them. They are friendlier than dogs in that regard I think. So my little Z might be a bit of a kitty wh*re but so what??

And I also COMPLETELY agree with you about the double-standard with guys owning cats! My bro has a kitty named Meatwad (yeah I know & she’s a girl kitty!:( ) and he loves that cat more than anything. He always says the woman he marries has to love the cat as much as he does. To cat-loving men out there: do not be ashamed! Many of us love a man that can appreciate the independence and occasional surliness of a cat.

Also: CATS ARE MAD AWESOME! Seriously, they rule.
        Just look at lil Bub!

        http://www.buzzfeed.com/summeranne/meet-lil-bub-natures-happy-accident-who-is

        @ Izzy-that is a great story! 🙂

      • Mrs. O says:

@izzyb I am laughing aloud right now at your dad becoming mushy over the cat. The harder you talk, the harder you fall (when it comes to kitties).

    • skuddles says:

Yes, that is so true! After I had been dating my (now) husband for about 8 months he told me one day that he was very serious about our relationship but didn’t know if he could marry me because I had two cats. Seriously. I was upset of course, and I told him how sad that made me… and that I’d miss him very much. We were married 6 months later 😉

Sadly those two kitties have since passed away but we have two amazing new kitties. Both rescues. One is a gorgeous little calico girl, as sweet, smart and funny as they come. She was feral when we captured her, now she is one of the most loving kitties I’ve ever known. Hubby is NUTS about her – dotes on her constantly, cuddles her, kisses her, you name it. She totally has him wrapped around her dainty little paw. Amazing.

  12. choppersann says:

    ” dishes are by Goyard”
This annoys the shit of me! I’m sure this cat realizes its eating out of $900 bowls…what a waste

    • MST says:

I agree. I love cats, but imagine how many people $900 could feed. But it’s his money so he can do what he wants with it.

  13. choppersann says:

    ” dishes are by Goyard”
This annoys the sh&t of me! I’m sure this cat realizes its eating out of $900 bowls…what a waste

  14. choppersann says:

    ” dishes are by Goyard”
This annoys the sh&t outta me! I’m sure this cat realizes its eating out of $900 bowls…what a waste

  15. Nymeria says:

In that first pic, Choupette looks like a powerless innocent clutched in the paws of a madman.

    • MST says:

That cat looks like it would rather be at home doing things all cats love: sleeping, eating, grooming, looking out windows at birds, and coughing up — what’s “hairballs” in French?

      • IzzyB says:

Don’t forget pooping in the house plant while your back is turned!

        *Side eye to my cat*

      • Nymeria says:

@ MST & IzzyB – Thanks for making me laugh. 🙂 I’ve no doubt that Choupette would prefer to be chasing fleas in her private garden, or delicately licking the last bit of pâté from her Goyard dish, or christening Karl’s house plants with her special offerings. Anything but a photo shoot – how taxing! Bring on l’herbe à chat!

  16. patata says:

can’t blame her for being a SEXY BEAST

  17. jc126 says:

She is beautiful! He should adopt a new buddy for her.

  18. RHONYC says:

i love that when we have our cat’s claws buffered, he just whine’s a lil’, but Chopette causes a ‘scandal’.

    hilarious. 😆

  19. Jenna says:

I have to say a huge thank you to you Kaiser – tonight is my husband’s night to take his mom out (every other week, Chinese restaurant just the 2 of them, Walmart, and a couple of the huge membership clubs like Sam’s. It’s a night off for his dad, and he gets a chance to see just… squarely on/off the beam she is.) and this is JUST the thing I need to send him to show her. The woman is insane for cats (to be fair, I have 4 – but 2 are by accident and while I love pets of all kind… she is a special case) and I’m always on the hunt for topics and photos for him to have in the moments where things get rough and he needs a distraction. Choupette is worth her weight in gold in my family! (To make her nuttiness for cats clear, and just why this story is a wonder for him to have, the FIRST time she met my parents – and I was moving across state to be with her son, we were already at the pretty clear “Yup. This is the face I’m going to see when I wake up at 85” stage – she brought a giant basket of kitty treats & toys for my dad’s cat… and proceeded to crawl on her hands and feet UNDER my parents bed MEWING at poor Mr Tibbs trying to get him to come to her. For over 2 hours. And before anyone gets concerned…. my husband is adopted.)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU – you have made a sometimes difficult night, and one that often last until well past 1am (she sleeps days before and after and just power shops when out with him) much easier. And she will be honestly and truly delighted to hear all about it… which means during dinner she won’t call OUR house and make me put each and every cat on so she can ‘talk’ with her ‘grandkitties’ over dinner.

I’m getting rather tired of having to meow in different ‘voices’ on the phone. Thanks for the night off.

    • Lukie says:

      Omg omg omg!
I just laughed so loud, my furry monkey aka Chloe furry diva kitty bitch, just stopped smacking my nose and jetted out the room!

      • Jenna says:

Always happy to give someone a giggle. The only truly difficult moment dealing with her cat “thing” came when one of her older cats got sick while my husband was out of town (thus putting me on the front line) and died while at the vet’s. I had no clue that they expected you to bring a box (my inlaws had taken him in earlier for testing, gone home, and when we got the call later he passed I just took her straight in without stopping for a carrier or anything. We get to the clinic, she falls apart, they bring the poor old lad out wrapped in a towel and just HAND the body to me. No box. Nothing. Suddenly, a kitten runs by (it’s a vet office that always has cats & kittens running free that are up for adoption) and next thing I know, she forgets about her dead cat and is on the floor cooing and babytalking to a kitten hiding under the cages while I stand there, dead cat draped over my hands with my mil crawling about talking to other cats.

In that stunning moment, dead cat in my arms, mildly insane mil meowing on the floor, with the knowledge that I was going to have to drive home with the cat in my lap while driving (she wouldn’t touch him and it was apparently callous and cruel to suggest laying him on the back seat… or in the trunk) I had the knowledge strike home firmly, that somehow…. life just was never going to be really “normal” for me.

It’s been a definite um… learning curve…??… to handling familial situations since marrying my guy. But on the up side – I get a lot of free drinks in exchange for telling completely true stories to people, and one day it will all be worked into one novel or another as I attempt to become an author. So I suppose it’s all just experience.

  20. Choupette says:

*cheer* A model that hasn’t been photo shopped, told she needs to lose weight, and actually eats! Kudos.

  21. Lurkeelee says:

Awe, I luv all these Choupette stories your site features. I actually always liked Kunty Karl and all the funny, bitchy things he has said. Now I know for sure he cannot be a bad person to love a cat this much. Choupette be a cutie and lives the good life!

  22. Sabrine says:

Awwww….it can never be overblown if there’s a kitty involved. Bring on Choupette anytime.

  23. sup says:

choupette is too cute for words

  24. sapphire says:

I have it from an impecable source that Choupette has wisker extention and cheek implants!

Aww, Karl’s going to have a secret tee shirt with Choupette’s picture on it-silkscreened by Hermes.

    • Masque says:

Oh thank god! I thought I was the only one who saw that. I swear her ears have been lifted, too.

What do you want to bet she’s had a tail implant to make it fluffier???

Next on E! CHeaping up with Choupette!

      • sapphire says:

Yes, you can see the tiny tufts-sure sign of enhancement. The tail, hmmm.

E! is too louche for Choupette, Ce Soir at least!

God, I love Karl, his kitty and this thread…

I think it’s cute that he gushes over her, he can’t be ALL bad if he adores her so!

  26. Sandra says:

Be careful Choupette, if you have too much exposure you will become “commercial”!

  27. Reece says:

Another little blonde blue eyed Famewhore! Although I agree with her on the Chanel No. 5. That crap makes me nauseous.

  28. skuddles says:

Well it’s obvious she’s had a ton of work done. Bloody fameho. Next thing you know she’ll have her own reality show. The Real Housepussy’s of Beverly Hills?

Does anyone else get the feeling that Karl will end up marrying his kitty cat?
