Angus T. Jones tells people to stop watching ‘filth’ like ‘Two & a Half Men’

I live in a pretty conservative, evangelical-heavy area. I’m well-versed in many of the super-conservative Christian arguments for or against almost everything. I call those people “Churchies” (it’s actually a Simpsons reference) – and I call them that without derision or contempt. For the most part, they are decent, hard-working people and I’m happy that they are my neighbors and my Christian yogurt providers (no joke!), although I do go out of my way to avoid substantive conversations with the Churchies. Mostly because conversations tend to come around to “So, which church do you go to?” Me: “Um, none. I’m not a church-goer.” Them: “Oh. Okay… um….” Yeah. Anyway, this story just reminded me of my neighbors.

It seems that Angus T. Jones, best known as that child-actor-turned-young-adult-actor on Two and A Half Men, is a Churchie. After experimenting with drugs and alcohol and fast cars in his youth, the 19-year-old has found God. He’s also found is inner judgy bitch, and his foot has found his mouth. In a “video testimonial” (the Churchies love that), Angus tells people to stop watching Two and a Half Men because it’s “filth” that will rot your brain. Sure, I agree with him, but no one is paying me $350,000 an episode, so… why not just quit the (literally) Godforsaken show?

Those are some fighting words, Angus T. Jones! In a shocking new video testimonial for Forerunner Chronicles posted to YouTube, Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer’s 19-year-old Two and a Half Men costar — better known as Jake Harper to fans — rips his CBS series and urges viewers not to tune in.

“If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men,” the actor said during his religious testimonial, in which he opened up about his upbringing. “I’m on Two and a Half Men, and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth.”

“People say it’s just entertainment. Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, especially with what you watch on television… it’s bad news,” ranted Jones, who has appeared on the CBS series since its 2003 debut. “Jake from Two and a Half Men means nothing.”

Jones also suggests that Satan is somehow involved with “Two and a Half Men.”

He continues, “If I am doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be contributing to the enemy’s plan … You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t. I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the bible says and being on that television show.”

Recently romancing Miley Cyrus’ character Missi during her October guest arc, Jones argued that his character was hidden behind a computer until her appearances and not used to his full potential.

“My character does Skype calls. He only does one scene Skype calls and that’s one reason it was awesome having Miley [Cyrus] on the show, because they actually brought my character out of the computer and into the actual set again,” Jones told E! News. “It’s easy but it’s boring.”

[From TMZ and Us Weekly]

I mean… if that’s what he really believes now then God speed and God bless. My problem is that it seems unprofessional, but considering this was a show that began as a vehicle for Charlie Sheen, I think the bar has been set pretty low. It’s actually weird to me that Angus managed to survive intact for years and years while Charlie Sheen was on set, and then as soon as Ashton Kutcher got there, suddenly Angus is super-Christian and he thinks the show is crap? I don’t know. The show IS crap, so how mad can we really be at Angus? I guess I would just appreciate this a little bit more if Angus hadn’t cashed all of those crazy paychecks, you know?

UPDATE: TMZ says that Angus hasn’t informed producers that he wants to leave the show, nor have producers talked about forcing him out. So it looks like – for now – the kid gets to bad-mouth his show AND get paid.

Why do people insist on biting the hand that feeds them?
FFS, my hamster has more brains than this guy.

  2. Sisi says:

on one hand I agree that that show is crap.

but on the other hand it seems sketchy.
on tmz live (okay, not the best source I know) they talked about the man sitting next to Angus and that he’s really really out there with his religious opinions.

  3. cr says:

If this is what he really believes, then great. But then he should also quit the show. Just to be consistent.

    • Esmom says:

Yes. Although I watched part of the video and I don’t know if I’m convinced that he really believes what he’s saying, he seemed kinda hesitant and lost, not exactly emphatic in his opinion. Maybe he felt pressured by the guy sitting next to him? It felt off.

    • emmie_a says:

I agree. Fine, hate the show and trash it but then leave the. Don’t keep doing it for a paycheck if it’s against everything you believe in.

And about his beliefs, while I think it’s great that he has found religion and he has strong convictions, I think he’s being brainwashed. Something about this whole thing seems incredibly suspicious, including the guy at his side in the video, who is a real freak (based on his other videos).

      • Minty says:

If he’s susceptible to being brainwashed, I wonder when the Scientologists will try for him — if they haven’t tried already.

    • Annie2 says:

I will bet this”church” doesn’t want him to quit- they plan on taking all his money. I think this kid is being brainwashed by a cult type church . He will soon be broke. Pretty smart of them to wait to prey on him after he is a legal adult – otherwise his parents could protect his money

  4. gee says:

    Kirk Cameron 2.0?

    • Dhavynia says:

OMG I was thinking the same thing! Maybe he got recruited by the Hollywood savior Cameron

      • thebutlerdidit says:

Cameron is an evangelical born again Christian, Jones is practicing 7 Day Adventist. Totally different belief system. As for why he hasn’t quit, I was under the assumption from reading one of the insider H’wood sites, It was because he’d have to break his contract and pay out millions to do so. His net with is aprox $300 mil, so he can easily afford it, but obviously hasn’t chosen to, nor been asked to, by CBS and Chuck Lorrie.

      • Trillion says:

Evangelicals and SDA’s have similarities and differences. I wouldn’t say they’re “totally different”. Both believe literal biblical interpretation. Both are very focused on the “second coming” and both are big on missionary messages – you know, “bringing in the sheaves”, and “harvesting souls” and that kind of stuff. Oh, and they both think their particular brand of protestantism is “The Truth” (but then again, maybe all religions think that).

  5. Happyhat says:

Well, he’s right about something. Television is never JUST television, and entertainment is never JUST entertainment.

But yeah, I’m sure there’s a bible quote somewhere about what he should do if he feels that way (as in, well, get the hell out of there).

On the other hand, he may be contractually obliged to stay there for a while longer. We could get all preachy ourselves and say that he should cash all his cheques from the show to charity or something, if he feels the show is evil. But then again, perhaps his money is now somehow tainted with the devil, and he doesn’t want to send that evil out to an unsuspecting charity or something.

He sounds quite level-headed in his beliefs though, at least from what he’s said. It must be difficult to come to that point and realise you’re sitting right in the middle of a den of sin. He’d be a lot better off reading all those positive peaceful chapters of the bible that so many ‘Churchies’ forget so often. You know, the ‘turn the other cheek’ and ‘love thy brother’ bits.

  6. Maritza says:

His dorky face says it all. I doubt very much he’ll have a career after Two and a Half Men ends.

    • Jen says:

Maritza: Why bring the way he looks into this? It has nothing whatsoever to do with how the guy looks.

      • Amy says:

I don’t know why we bring celebrities’ looks up, but we do. Always.

And I agree with Maritza. He needs to pack up and move to that magical place where former(ly cute) child stars go to grow up and live a normal life.

      • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

A career as an actor has EVERYTHING to do with looks. It’s pretty much based on looks. You can be the best actor in the world but if you don’t have the “right” look for a part you’re not going to get the job.

  7. Incredulous says:

Eh, it makes a nice change from all the other child actors who seem determined to drink and drug their way to the hospital emergency room. It’s the same kind of douchey behaviour, but gone the other direction.

    • Riana says:

He reminds me of those people who have a really bad life and when they choose faith they let it absolutely consume them at first. Like they go overboard and then with time manage to reel it in a bit.

      • Thiajoka says:

Or, in my case, finally realize that the only reason I had come to believe in any of that was because I was severely emotionally unstable at the time and didn’t feel I could stand on my own and so needed something bigger than myself to believe in. Then I kept noticing that good people (not me, others) who believed were getting the short shift in life and began likening this “God is testing them.” notion to a woman excusing a man who beats her by saying, “He really loves me, he’s so sorry that he treats me this way.”

  8. Kimbob says:

You see, the problem w/these “churchies,” is that’s what they like to do…..talk out both sides of their mouth. They see absolutely no harm in being hippocrites @ all…..go to work, acting in a “filthy” TV series, collect THAT CHECK (oh praise God…halleleuah!), then they go to church & bite & maul the hand that feeds them.

I know he’s just a kid, but for the love of all things good, the executives need to CAN HIS ASS IMMEDIATELY! Sorry, Angus needs to tell his story WALKING! Can’t have it both ways, you little judgmental prick.

The regrettable thing about all this is that I actually agree w/what Angus is saying, but the snot-nosed kid doesn’t hold any water w/me, saying such while collecting his checks & laughing all the way to the bank. He needs to be taught a lesson.

    • CooCooCatchoo says:

Agree with you, Kimbob. This kid makes $350k per EPISODE – I wanna smack him just for that alone lol!

  9. oh dear says:

how old is this kid? maybe hes just now awakening to the hollywood bullsh*t. maybe hes begging to be fired or waiting for his latest contract to run out? i dont know, not into this show or the people in it.

but yeah, it would be less hypocritical if he quit the show or donated all the money he earned on that filthy show to some charity. im sure poor/hungry people dont care where the money that feeds them comes from. if hes still on this show in a year hes no better than what he accuses the whole industry of.

    • Angelina says:

Why should he have to donate his salary money? Do you give away your salary or most of it away to the needy/less fortunate? I doubt it.
So many celebs have trashed their movies,tv shows that made them famous after many years like this guy did. Nothing unheard of.

  10. Seagulls says:

What cowardice. I get that there are contracts, but, boy, he better not be keeping any of the devil’s money for his own enrichment. Basically, I call bull.

  11. Ms Kay says:

Bloody hell this is beyond a “Never bite the hand that feeds you” it’s a proper gnawing case!!!

So he means he’s been working for the enemy? Boy is Lucifer going to be happy to get all that money back then! Oh let me guess he’s still under contract though because you know that’s what God wants him to do… Cashing a $350K check and like Pontius Pilate wash your hands off sin eh..

Hey Angus God has left a message for you, he says a Tom Cruise wants to send you a brochure for a Cult show called “Two Halves Men”

  12. stellalovejoydiver says:

Jones also suggests that Satan is somehow involved with “Two and a Half Men.”

He continues, “If I am doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be contributing to the enemy’s plan … You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t. I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the bible says and being on that television show.”

Just stop doing the show, don´t renew your contract. I don´t care what kind of religion someone believes in, but I don´t like conservative religious people because of their backwards views on abortion, birth control etc. and that they feel they are on a mission to save the souls of the disbelievers.
He started as a child star, so I guess his parents got him the gig in the first place, I think it´s fair he gets 350.000 $ per episode, esp compared to Asshat, since he spent his whole childhood and puberty on that show.
I also heard he wanted to quit Two and a half men because he wanted to go to college, what happened to those plans?
And I feel like a pedo admitting this, but I have a weird crush on him and I´m 22.

  13. julia says:

I don’t know about this. When he says that the show is filth and he asks people to stop watching it(around 7:50) he is smiling the whole time as if this is all a big joke and he can’t keep a straight face. Maybe this is a big joke, maybe he is trying to pull a Charlie Sheen (wants to get fired and hopes for his own show) or he is serious about all this. I don’t know what would be the worst scenario. They also posted some videos of the guy next to Angus and his believes. And it seems like this guy is nuts. So, now he has found a huge cash cow, that was/is easy to manipulate?
I think the show isn’t Angus’ biggest problem right now.

    • dreageon says:

Maybe he is pulling a stunt like Joquien Phoeinx?
      So sad.
I thought this kid would be fine and not end up like other child stars.
Whatever he has joined(seems like a cult thing)he should get out of it.

    • Esmom says:

The smile seemed more nervous to me than truly joke-y. It made me feel sorry for him, like he’s somehow being preyed upon or manipulated.

  14. Lucy2 says:

Someone in one moment he’s complaining the show was horrible and filthy, and in another he’s complaining he doesn’t get enough screen time? Hmm.
If you truly believe something is bad, walk away from it. Don’t complain about it and continue to cash your checks.

    • LeslieM says:

I didn’t get that part either. The show is horrible. It’s not allowed in my house. The fact that it has been number 1 is a large part of what is wrong with America today.

      • Esmom says:

Agreed. It is such a piece of crap and I have never understood its popularity. I’ve never been able to watch it more for than a minute or two, it’s just so horrible in every respect.

  15. haha says:

poor guy is having a meltdown.i shall pray for him 😉 he shure is going to miss the $350.000 a show.

  16. Micki says:

I’d love to see this Zealot donating his money from the show to church projects and start missionary career traveling the world.
But I guess he didn’t mean his money is filthy…

  17. Riana says:

He explains why he doesn’t quit.

He’s still under contract and has considered it but essentially he doesn’t want to simply vanish and, I’m assuming, screw a lot of people over. He said he believes God has a purpose for him working this final year and after that time he’s hoping to move on.

I don’t know how I feel about his comments, he seems new to the religion/faith/spirituality thing so I can understand he feels a certain amount of passion that might be expressed in a seemingly negative way.

Good luck to the kid, its not easy and at the very least he’s cleaning his life up.

    • littlemissnaughty says:

Uh … he doesn’t want to screw people over? What does he think he’s doing here then? It’s one thing to grind you teeth, get your contract over with, and talk about your opinions after a while. But to put a product out there and bad-mouth the whole thing?
He’s spoiled and unprofessional. Not every person on that set makes millions, people rely on their jobs to pay the bills. How Christian is it to potentially endanger their jobs? He could have easily quit when Sheen was kicked off or before this season started. Pay a fine for breach of contract if you have to, it’s not like he’s short on cash.
I’m really hoping he’s pulling a Joaquin Phoenix here btw.

      • Riana says:

        What’s a Joaquin Phoenix?

He’s not putting the product out though, he’s an employee and regardless of his paycheck he seems to hate his work. He may even be angling to get himself fired and much like Kaiser, I don’t think anyone can really say there’s any attempt to label the show quality and make it better than it is. It’s filth but it makes money.

It’s not the most mature route, but several people twice his age have done it before. He seems over-passionate and I wouldn’t have made the comment, but clearly somethings going on with the kid that he wants the show to end or be done with it himself.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Joaquin Phoenix and his “performance art” bit for that wretched mockumentary? He had us all fooled that he had gone off the rails and really wanted to become a rapper. I was thinking maybe Angus is doing something similar, trying to amuse himself by fooling us. But that’s just my wishful thinking I guess.

The quality of the show really isn’t the issue, I think we all agree that it was never anything but crazy and ridiculous. I love how nobody watches it btw, they wouldn’t be in their 10th season if that were true. I did watch a few seasons and as long as you’re old enough and can read between the lines, it’s not the worst thing on TV by far.

Anyway, I’ll say this again, in my opinion he’s being an immature brat and if he wants out (which is his prerogative), there are other ways. I don’t really care if people twice his age have done this, that’s not an argument for excusing a 19-year-old’s idiocy.
And the product was meant as an analogy but it works here too, actually. He’s one of the faces of the show and has a responsibility. If they won’t let him give his input and help with quality, QUIT! This is not the way to go after making obscene amounts of money. He’s sh*tting on every writer and producer of that show. They made him rich. With crap quality? Maybe but I don’t see him declining a paycheck. You can’t have it both ways without looking like a brat.

That’s my opinion but I know many people are going the “Good for him.” route. I don’t think this kind of behavior should be encouraged but as soon as religion comes into play, it seems to excuse everything. “Better than going the LiLo child star route!” Eh. Sure. Sh*t vs. diarrhea in terms of professionalism.

  18. jwoolman says:

I haven’t seen full new episodes for a couple of years at least, but the kid is actually right …:) The slant of the show is rather sleazy, although still funny. He was just a little kid when it started, it’s not so hard to believe that now as a teenager he is reassessing the impact of it all and his responsibility for promoting such things and feels trapped even though well paid. I don’t think he’s much of an actor, although he fit the show, and he’s more likely to find something else to do in life. At his age and considering he was below the age for making real contracts for most of the show – I’d cut him some slack on the “unprofessional” label for dealing with his angst this way. He probably is conflicted about it and might just want to be written out of the show. He saw Charlie Sheen mess up and get pushed out, after all. And the writers don’t know what to do with him since he hit puberty anyway. Just send his character off to college.

So now after trouble with one and a half of the men, are they going to rename it Last Man Standing?

  19. Marianne says:

Maybe be wants to leave, but can’t because of a contract.

  20. the original bellaluna says:

How am I supposed to stop watching something I’ve never watched?

And he’s not “contractually obliged,” unless you count the new one-year contract he just recently signed that’s probably not even in effect yet.

    Epiphany much?

  21. lem says:

I think it’s hypocritical of him to denounce the show but continue to be a part of it (regardless of his reasons for continuing– if he thought it was that terrible of a sin, he wouldn’t be involved in it at all) but my concern is the friggin’ church that he’s involved with. Frontrunner’s is f*cking weird as shit. I’m concerned about his involvement with them more than I’m concerned about his opinion on 2.5 men.

  22. Jayna says:

How sad to try to destroy a show and hurt all the people, actors, cameramen, on and on that he’s worked with for ten years and take away their livelihood and telling everyone to stop watching it. Real Christian of you. Just leave. I do think he’s mad they’ve reduced his screen time to being off in the military.

    • anneesezz says:

      Well said.

    • Lee says:

He believes the show is destroying millions of lives. He is concerned about that. Is he not entitled to his opinion regarding a show that he himself has been on for years? Is he wrong to be concerned for the impact on the viewers of his admittedly valueless show?

      • cr says:

No one is saying he isn’t entitled to his opinion. But if he says this: “If I am doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be contributing to the enemy’s plan … You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t. I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the bible says and being on that television show.”

and he’s still on the show then maybe he needs to be more consistent in his practice of his beliefs.

  23. Regila says:

Maybe Two and a Half Men has problems in set. First Charlie Sheen and now this kid. Something is going on. Why would he randomly start to trash a show hes been on for almost 10 years? Ashton adds nothing and its quite sad they needed that washed-up Hannah Monanta chick to boost ratings. The show is going down badly.

For those saying he should give his money to charity. Angus T Jones donate plenty of time and money to charity work in case you guys didn’t know. He has earned his money either way.

  24. NerdMomma says:

Rest easy, Angus, I have never watched your show.

I think working with Charlie Sheen then Ashton Kutcher would turn anyone to God. He’s seen the effects of drugs and alcohol and maybe Ashton has been talking his ear off about HIS religion… the logical conclusion would be to do the opposite of what all the douchebags around him are doing. He is probably trying to find his identity, and hopefully he finds something good.

  25. judyjudy says:

    I can’t ….I just can’t…it’s too early…

  26. BamaGuy1024 says:

This boy obviously is deeply unhappy with his life and working on the show because he is throwing away millions of dollars and his career by doing this. One has to hope he has thought this through and that this is what he wants to do.

  27. Talie says:

It’s sad to me that he doesn’t see that if he wasn’t famous or the highest paid child star on TV…these people would not give a damn about his “testimony” or personally helping him “find a path to God”.

  28. ZigZagZoey says:

    WOW, how stupid!
Sorry, but I cannot stand people that are so badly brainwashed from their “religion”….
Like so many others have already said ~ QUIT.

Start your own 2 and a Half Brain Cells Church, I’m sure you’d find plenty of can’t think for themselves idiots that would fall for it….
Oh and there’s always Scientology! Oh wait, they don’t mind their actors starring in filth, they just can’t be gay….
As far as having a contract ~ Well ~ GASP! ~ We wouldn’t want him wasting his money on filthy lawyers now would we? If he is SO conflicted doing the show, he would quit no matter what it cost him. So, he does this to try and get fired so he can keep all the money….That’s such great religious behavior….I’ll do anything for Jesus, except break my contract….

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

YES to all of this, ZigZagZoey!
      *waves* 🙂

    • julia says:

“brainwashed from their religion” – exactly. It’s not like he found religion, he found RELIGION! The show has ties to Satan? Really?
He seems a bit over the top with what he is saying. If he would say “I wanna quit, because the show started with the main character being a raging alcoholic with deep issues who never really wanted to change and for whom women were just disposable objects and that is a HUGE disgrace for my beliefs” I would get it. I would approve. But to me it seems he is rather brainwahed than a real Christian. Oh and if he said any of this stuff in the video I tend to apologize – I haven’t watched it, because I was afraid I would roll my eyes to hard.

  29. TheOriginalKitten says:

This kid is such an idiot. First of all, I couldn’t get through 5 minutes of his crappy show. Second of all, as everyone above has already said, if he thinks the show sucks so hard and is so morally reprehensible, then he should give his millions back and go volunteer is a soup kitchen. I am so sick of these arrogant rich celebs and their phony-ass struggles with morality.

Just be happy you get paid millions to play pretend for a living, kid.

    • I'm going to Guam! says:

      Why are you so angry?
What is it with people and Christianity that pisses them off so much? And I’ve only noticed this with Christianity, I never see you get so angry with Judaism or Islam.

      • Sweet Dee says:

She actually didn’t mention Christianity in her post, but I thought I’d clear something up for you.

Muslims and Jews combined make up less than 10% of the American populus, while Evangelicals make up 20% and other Christians make up another 35-40%, depending on whether you count Mormons or not. Jewish people do NOT proselytize as a rule (you have to work very hard to convert), and Muslims do so to a much smaller degree than Christians. It’s a numbers game, you see? I don’t hear from anyone but Christians about how right they are or how great their religion is. Always trying to convert, to convince, and now always whining about some war on Christians. It has occurred to a few that maybe the rest of us are just sick of hearing about it, and not buying it, but most are wailing on about being victims. That’s what the other side sees.

        Since you asked.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Nothing to say because Sweet Dee said it all for me-perfectly and succinctly. Thanks, girl 🙂

Guam-I NEVER mentioned Christianity. Why did you bring it up??? Also, you are the LAST person who should be accusing anyone of being “angry” around here. Why don’t you go have a melt-down on one of the Halle Berry threads, you know, like usual…

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

Seriously, what is it with you and anger? Work out your issues. Can you even reply to someone without making an insult? Get that chip off your shoulder already.
And what Halle Berry thread? I haven’t been in one for ages and my only fault was seeing both sides of the story, unlike someone else who acted like a crazy lunatic.

“Sweet Dee” I know she didn’t mention Christianity in her post, it was a general statement towards most people commenting on this thread. I shouldn’t have made my reply to her, that was in fact a mistake, but I stand by what I said about the anger towards anyone who has a different opinion than you, oh, and that “number thing”, what a cop out.

      • Sweet Dee says:

Yeah no problem 🙂 She had it coming anyway…I saw Guam’s post and was like, “oh for sh*t’s sake it’s pretty obvious…I’ll just fill her in real quick.” She still doesn’t get it. I got your back girl.

@Guam–learn how statistics work then come back. In fact, learn how OTHER religions work before comparing them to yours where there is no comparison. Nobody else here on thread 29 is angry except for you, and maybe if you did a little more reading (including reflecting on said reading), and a little less spouting, you could figure out why.

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

“My religion”? It’s not very smart to make assumptions about someone…you know how that saying goes.
Again, numbers have nothing to do with it. The crazy hatred Christianity receives is quite insane seeing as many things Christianity teaches, Islam and Judaism teaches as well.
Islam for example, is very homophobic and Judaism is very sexist, yet, we almost never hear anything about that coming from the PC brigade, hmm, I wonder why.
Yeah, no one is angry here, especially not you, right 😉

      • Thiajoka says:

        Thank you, Sweet Dee.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Guam-who is this “someone else” you speak about? I have NEVER even commented on a Halle Berry post before. BUT I do read the comments and I remember your posts because they made you look…unstable. That’s the nicest way I can put it, really…

“Islam for example, is very homophobic and Judaism is very sexist, yet, we almost never hear anything about that coming from the PC brigade, hmm, I wonder why.
Yeah, no one is angry here, especially not you, right ”

Yes the best way of showing that your religion is superior is by insulting other religions. Way to go! Clearly, your religion is inclusive and accepting of all others, unless they don’t believe EXACTLY like you do right? And always put a smiley face at the end of your angry rants, Guam, because passive-agressive is what you do best. If people don’t agree with you, then you’re being “persecuted based on your religion”. If they don’t see eye-to-eye with you about the Halle Berry situation, then “everyone is racist”, right?

Guam can’t help herself, Sweet Dee, anger and lashing out is her only real defense around here. The hypocrisy runs deep with this one.

      • Sweet Dee says:

        @Thiajoka–welcome 🙂

@OKitten–You’re right, and I should probably stop, but she’s making it too easy. So, one last one:

@Guam–seriously, I don’t pick up any rage in anyone’s posts here but yours. Also, it’s obvious you are a Christian, because non-Christians don’t defend them with such fervor and anger, trying to call out other religions who are far less noisy about their practices. I’ve also never heard of anyone BUT a Christian refer to a made up entity called PC Brigade (capitalize the B, even if you’re being facetious–that’s a proper noun). So, I consider it an observation; you aren’t fooling anyone here.

Do you know what else is sexist and homophobic? Christianity. It’s right there in the manual, you should read it some time. It’s a good read for fantasy, full of guts and gore and demons, oh and this douche with superpowers who’s a giant hypocrite even though he literally knows everything–really good stuff.

Oh, before you say you don’t practice that stuff (or your “friends” who are Christians don’t, since you’re not one, right?), remember that not every Jewish person or Muslim practices everything in their scriptures, either.

      • Trillion says:

The particular “brand” of christianity this kid professes is probably one of the worst offenders of proselytizing too. Seventh Day Adventists think they are the ONLY TRUE BELIEVERS, the “remnant church of the Book of Revelations” because they are the only christian religion that keeps the 4th commandment. They believe that until every single person on Earth has had the opportunity to convert, Jesus will not return. It’s just as crazy as Scientology, just older.

      • Izzy says:

Guam, you need to learn more about Judaism before you open your big mouth. I’m Jewish, except I’m NOT Orthodox or Hasidic. Those two branches of Judaism ARE sexist, which is why my parents raised me as a Reform Jew, despite both of them growing up in Orthodox households. Oh, and by the way, MY temple has a female rabbi. So sexist, I know.

While you’re at it, read up on your own religious beliefs. I believe it was Jesus of Nazareth who said “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Your ridiculous blanket statements and assumptions don’t seem so loving, do they?

    • gg says:

She must mean me. I’M AGREH! GRRRRR! lol

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

Sweet Dee, you must have missed the part where I specifically said that Christianity, Islam and Judaism have a lot in common with being both sexist and homophobic.
I don’t know if it’s your reading difficulties, or wishful thinking? But I am not Christian, and I’m not even from a Christian country. I don’t even know that many Christians.
I can see all sides here unlike you, unfortunately.

      • Sweet Dee says:

@gg–she mixed up the cat pictures! Agro rant forgiven 😉

@Guam–Is THIS the statement you’re referring to: “The crazy hatred Christianity receives is quite insane seeing as many things Christianity teaches, Islam and Judaism teaches as well.” ? No, I got that. What I was trying to tell you is that there are more Christians and they are louder about it (here, in America), so the backlash they receive is proportional. GAH woman you are having a hard time with this, aren’t you?

      • gg says:

Not me, Guam. Really, end this, kay? You’re coming off really badly with this constant terriering of yours.

        Chill, girl.

  30. anneesezz says:

I always thought this show was awful. I may have thought he was sincere had he not just signed a new contract. This cult will probably wind up taking all his money. Is anyone watching out for him? He’s 19 now and should know better than to post a video like that. Career suicide.

  31. Lake mom says:

Come on, he’s a kid. He thinks he’s doing the right thing. I have to applaud him for having the courage of his convictions to speak up. How is this any different than some celebrity sounding off against saving the environment while driving a hummer or the importance of being a vegan because they oppose animal cruelty while wearing $6,000 leather shoes or carrying a $15,000 pigskin purse. I think it’s the fact he mentions God that has everyone so offended. There are worse things the kid could be involved in.
And for the record, the show IS crap. You don’t have to be a religious person to see that.

  32. kay says:

In one of the Sookie books, a fairy and an elf are discussing Two and a Half Men.

They discuss how useless the “half” is on the show, and says the elf “at home, we’d eat him”.

I laughed my ass off, because 2 characters in a book nailed it- he is useless on that show.

  33. Jackson says:

Young Angus T needs to acquaint himself with another good book – the dictionary. Look up “hypocrite.” You feel the show you work on is filth and has ties to Satan, then get the eff out of there. Instead you keep cashing your $350k per episode check, not to mention all that money you’re going to get from syndication. I get that he’s young. I get that he’s in the flush of recently finding religion or this church in particular, but he’s coming across as just another pained Hollywood-type who just cannot stomach the work they do but yet, somehow, manage to still cash their fat paycheck.

  34. KC says:

Can someone please get me an “easy but boring” job that pays $350K a ‘shift’? I’ll take it. I won’t complain.

    Geez.

  35. logan says:

Is Two & a Half Men filth? Yes. Should Angus quit, yes if that is what his conscience tells him to do. Now the problem…..why is he still there and accepting a pay check? If he is indeed still getting paid to act in filth…..then just when does his Christianity kick in? At the age of 19 he knows the difference between right and wrong. True Christians walk the talk, not just talk. To keep doing what you know (and video) is wrong is …sinning. Doesn’t add up.

  36. Shy says:

When I read briefly article on Radar and turned on video – for a second I thought that this was some Scientology audition video 🙂 I even paused and returned to article to see if it really was.

That boy is brainwashed so hard. He is too young to be crazy obsessed with Bible like that. I felt sorry for him. It’d like he joined some cult like in those articles or TV shows. I wonder how long is it going on? I remember when I saw few episodes of show last years after Ashton joined and everyone wanted to see – I payed attention on “kid”. I wondered why he is sleepwalking through all his lines. He was acting like on autopilot, like a robot. I remember I was wondering why he shows such lazy acting.

I guess we know why now. Because he hates show. Well, after all those statements I expect him to give all those money he gets from show to charity, to poor. He is so true Christian after all… He can’t save those dirty money to himself after all those things he said.

ut something tells me he won’t. Everybody loves money. That makes him brainwashed hypocrite. It’s sad to look at him. They should fire him and bring some new, younger kid cousin to the show. So that it would still be called “2 and a half men”.

That was very unprofessional from him. You don’t like? Quit. But don’t take 350 000 every second week and then whine how you hate it. Or give all those money to poor people if you present youself as that saint.

    • jwoolman says:

No, he’s acted like that since he was a little guy. That was definitely how the character was written from the get-go. Maybe he’s also like that himself, since often kids’ roles are written to closely match the kid since most kids aren’t able to stretch very far. But he’s doing the role as intended.

  37. & says:

Eh, he’s a 19 year old kid exploring his evangelical self. Hopefully it’s just a phase, and not a second coming of Kirk Cameron. He’s trashing his job, something millions of people do all the time, but most try to keep their bosses from hearing about it.

  38. junegorilla says:

That show is crap. Whether you are a holy roller or simply someone who expects to be entertained at a higher level than fart jokes and some crinkly old creep mashing on young girls. THey should have just had Charlie/Ashton paying the gals in cash and coke at the end of each epiisode for realism.

  39. KellyinSeattle says:

Okay, I’ll wave the red flag here…play the devil’s advocate No pun intended…seems when one is a conservative/Christian, it’s not okay to cash the paycheck, but those more liberal can speak out and say anything they want, and cash their paychecks…Hollywood applauds anti Christianity , liberal attitudes and beliefs…What happened to freedom of speech/religion? Yes, I get that he’s still on the show, but doubt he will stay much longer. He’s a little creepy, but at that age, many of us (or I was) not sure where I was at. Maybe he has a contract.I just see a shift in this country; where “Christian” is a bad name; Christianity is not about religion, it’s about personal relationships w/ God, and not hate. I know I’m going to get bashed for this, but so be it…People will tell me Christianity is hate and the cause of all wars; but this isn’t true .Go Kirk Cameron; takes a lot to stand up for what one believes, esp. when it’s not popular; but if a liberal/non-Churchie stands up, they are applauded. Yes, I know there are liberal Churchies, too; conservativeChurchie are the bad words here. Maybe it’s because I live in such a liberal area…Go ahead, hit me…

    • LHWest2008 says:

Absolutely! Had he announced that he was beginning to have problems doing the show because he had converted to Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, or Wicca – any religion other than Christianity – I doubt there would be as much outrage. It’s “cool” and politically correct to make fun of and bash Christians and Christianity. I applaud this boy for standing up and saying what he feels publicly, especially knowing that he lives in a very liberal environment that is often hostile to those who aren’t ashamed to say they are Christian and who actually *gasp* seem proud and happy to be Christian.

      • Vera says:

No matter what the religion, or even if reglion wasn’t involved in his decision, the kid is still a hypocrit. If he feels so strongly that what he is doing is so wrong, then he should leave the show and let the lawyers deal with the contractual issues. I think the show is dreadful, but if it survived the departure of Charlie Sheen, it will survive without him.

    • RTR_Girl says:

      I totally agree, Kelly.

  40. Eleonor says:

I am over these “stars” constantly blaming about how awful, how bad their work is.
In my early 20’s I was working my ass off at McDonalds, to pay my university taxes. I had other “not amazing” jobs, but I never ever badmouthed any of them: because they were paying my bills, because I still have friends there, because a ton of people do shitty jobs for living and don’t complain. Especially with this economy. So not only is unprofessional, but it is unrespectful. And being 20 is not a good excuse.

    • Thiajoka says:

I bet you wish you could make $350,000 a week, too. He really doesn’t have a sense of the reality of life, does he?

      • Eleonor says:

350.000$ is even more than my parents house worth.
I’d love to see these superpaid stars working in a call center for a couple of months. That could give them a lot of new and interesting perspective on what “real life” is.

    • Miss M says:

      @Eleonor: this 10,000 times! 🙂

I remember I was having an extra job to help pay my expenses during my Master’s and one of my colleagues in the lab asked how could i do it and find enthusiasm. I said, it pays my bills, so I will do the best that can at this job.

  41. Sweet Dee says:

    What a cute little hypocrite.

  42. Nymeria says:

I don’t call such people “Churchies,” I call them “nutjobs.”

  43. Madriani's Girl says:

He can bite the hand because he’s financially set for life. And I can tell you that Christians DO dislike that show because all it is is a guy sleeping around and a lot of sexual innuendo. When he refers to “the enemy” he is referring to the devil. Using that term is how Christians refer to the devil because calling it by its name only gives it power.

  44. Izzy says:

Taking a page from Warlock Sheen’s Book of Moves, I see…

  45. HotPockets says:

I don’t like the expression, “don’t bite the hand that feeds you,” because people have the right to question their jobs, employers, and significant others. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt because he is only 19 years old and trying to figure things out, as he should.

Maybe he realizes now that the show isn’t for him and he doesn’t want to be associated with it because of it’s moral character, but honestly, a lot of programming on television is crap. The effects the media has on your psyche should be questioned more, not just Two and a Half men. They call it television programming for a reason, key word, programming because that is the intent of it.

If he feels this strongly though, then he should leave once his contract has expired or he looks like a hypocrite.

  46. sfsadsa says:

Well, to quote what sweet dee said,”Muslims and Jews combined make up less than 10% of the American populus, while Evangelicals make up 20% and other Christians make up another 35-40%, depending on whether you count Mormons or not. That’s what the other side sees.”

You’ve never heard a muslim go on about how right his religion is? No? Because I was raised muslim and I can tell you that all the muslims I knew believe their religion is the way, everyone should come to their point of view. Have you ever read the quran? Do you even know what is says about christians, gays, the jews? Death for them.

You won’t be assured of salvation unless you commit jihad, otherwise, you better hope your good deeds outway your bad deeds when you move on. Islam is barely mocked, unlike christianity, possibly the reason being everytime a comedian or cartoonist does that, muslims call for their head.

Now, you can draw a picture of Jesus fornicating in a pile of dog crap, and call it art. Yes, christians get angry, but they won’t threaten or kill you over it. Muslims had a bounty out on a cartoonist who drew mohammad. With reactions that extreme, people are more comfortable mocking a religion that won’t try and kill them, like christianity or judaism.

    • Thiajoka says:

That is not true. No one doubts there are fanatical Muslims, obviously, but to suggest that all Muslims believe as they do is painting with a broad brush and the tenets of that faith are no more intended to violence than are the tenets of Christianity. However, there are fanatics and then there are hypocrites–this kid definitely seems to be coming down on the side of hypocrisy although that might be due to his age more than intent.

But absolutely not–most faiths, at their core, do not promote violence.

      • sfsadsa says:

As I said, I was raised muslim. I can tell you for a fact that the quran absolutely does promote a violence against those who will not convert. Like some verses to go along with that?

      • Katija says:

As a Jew, I would like to say, thank you for rebuking a philosophy that encourages you to kill me. It takes a strong character to walk away from what you were raised in. Good for you, gal.

    • I'm going to Guam! says:

Don’t even try to reason with them, they think they know more than people who actually live and work with Muslims and they’re so PC that they are even afraid to confront their own hypocrisy.
I work with young Muslim girls daily, I volunteer at a center for underprivileged children/girls.
I don’t know how many times the fathers of these girls have forbidden them to take part in an activity.
They can’t go swimming, they can’t do this, can’t do that, but we try to work around it so they will feel inclusive despite being the victims, yes, VICTIMS, of “their” religion.
If you are going to berate Christianity, you better talk about religions just like Christianity, that practice a lot of the same things.

I am not “PC”. I live this daily and work with these girls daily. I have confronted the fathers of these girls only to be told to mind my own business.
Judaism is no better, it’s incredibly sexist as well.
Again, you can’t reason with these faux feminists and their PC BS. They talk the talk, but they don’t walk the walk.

      • Katija says:

        “Judaism is no better”

I agree with you, to a point. When I was living in Israel, I couldn’t EFFING STOMACH the Orthodox. I still can’t. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Don’t condemn the hijab if you’re not going to also condemn the wig!!! My God.

HOWEVER – and here is the “to a point” – Reform Judaism exists, and is hella progressive. In my temple, we had a male Rabbi, but everyone else in administration was female. We also had gay commitment ceremonies. UNFORTUNATELY, “Reform Islam” isn’t a thing. Yes, there are Muslims – I am friends with several – who drink booze and live normal lives, but they don’t have an organized group to promote progressiveness. That’s a shame.

Do you work for the AHA foundation? I donate to them regularly.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Guam-You keep saying you’re not “PC”. What does that mean exactly? Based on your statements, you’re inferring that the RIGHT thing to do is to insult ALL religions, not just yours?? So only the “politically correct” people insult Christianity? Huh??????

I don’t insult ANYBODY’s religion, period. So no, your religion is NOT superior to other religions nor is my LACK of religion. But I do get a chuckle out of religious people like you crying about how everyone condemns their faith but not others which are, according to you, “much much worse”. Again, all you succeed in doing is showing how divisive religion can be when yielded as a sword to insult and berate others that believe differently than you. It’s just sad, really…

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

        Wow.
What is it with you and your anger with me? Have I done something bad to you personally? Have I offended you before?
I am not Christian, I am not religious so I don’t understand why you are making assumptions about me?
Who am I berating? Who am I insulting? What on earth are you talking about?

Please, if you are going to reply, make sense and I don’t say that in a mean way, just I don’t understand what you are talking about and it’s frustrating because you keep getting angry with me for some reason and I want to clear that up because I don’t want you to be angry, especially not when the anger is coming from a place of, what I suspect is, misunderstanding.

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

@Katija. I should have been more specific, I am specifically talking about orthodox jews which there are in my country and I have lived among them so what I have seen and experienced in talking with them has taught me a great deal of the double standards when it comes to female/males.
I don’t work for AHA, I work for another organization that is in my country in Europe and the main focus is young girls from ages 9 to 11 who live in a segregated part of the city. They are from all sorts of countries and religious backgrounds but mainly Muslim girls since they are the majority here. We are trying to integrate them but it’s hard because there is all this tension between the young girls, it’s really sad, some of the romani girls have quit going because of the fighting with the Iranian girls. Right now we are just trying to make this a safe space for them and try to make them realize whatever is happening out there, *here* is safe. It’s all about them having fun and just being kids.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Guam, you’re basically just trolling now. Just stop-you exhaust me.

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

I don’t even know how to reply to you now. Trolling??
Is that the word you use when you run out of argument?
Anyway, I’ve wished you well in the other comment further up because I do not want to continue with this childish back and forth thing.
You have some strange anger with me because I dare defend this kid and dare to look at ALL sides and not jump on the “let’s hate Christianity” bandwagon.
For some reason this makes you angry, I can’t do anything about that so I, again, wish you well. Take care.

      • Trillion says:

Wow, Guam. You’re kinda off the rails here, which I notice this tends to happen with you when this subject comes up. Grab the reins. Deep breaths.

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

What do you mean Trillion? And who are you btw?
“When this subject comes up”? Has it before? Can you explain what you mean? Thanks

      • Trillion says:

Who am I? A poster here. Weird question. And what do I mean? I mean that when other stories on Christianity come up here on CB, I’ve noticed you’re responses are very defensive. Your welcome.

    • Sweet Dee says:

Oh goodness. I didn’t even see that I had the honor of being quoted into a different thread! It’s my lucky day, no?

I would like to just to note that I did not make any judgments on Islam or Judaism in my remark, I only stated that the people doing most of the yelling and proselytizing in this country are Christians. To disagree with that is to fail at understanding simple statistics because Christians outnumber every other denomination in this country. These are facts. Nobody asked for my opinion, but since you’ve done an excellent job of skewing it for me, let me correct you.

As someone who has read every religious text I could find, I despise religion. I dislike every single religion on the planet and my idea of Utopia is a world with no religion. I think Islam is easily the most violent and backwards, while Christianity is the least consistent (and loudest where I live, here, in Colorado, in the United States of America). Almost every religion is sexist…name the one I found that’s not and I’ll buy you a beer (or if you’re in CO, a bag heh).

I also think that when having these discussions, it is necessary to stay on topic, which is why (up there on ol’ thread 29) I responded to Guam’s questions in reference to her own comparisons, and made an effort not to praise any religion. Each religion fails a basic consistency test, and each religion is ugly, corrupt, and marred by the inability to admit fault within its texts.

That said, I do believe many religious people are good–it’s not the people I find despicable but the brainwashing they subscribe to and the ability it gives them to shrug off atrocious commandments within these texts and “take the bad with the good.” Through it all, most people are actually good and moral in SPITE of their religions, not due to them.

    • jwoolman says:

You know only one little subset of the world’s Muslims. There are many, many different flavors of Islam throughout the world, and they don’t all believe or act as you’ve described. We see the same diversity in other groups, for example, all the different flavors of Christian. There are many different interpretations of the respective sacred books and traditions.

      • I'm going to Guam! says:

I don’t think anyone is disagreeing with you jwoolman.
However, some of us actually live it and know what goes on because we see the effects and consequences of it everyday.
However “little” it may be to you, we still see what it does and I see what it does personally to young girls.

  47. Katija says:

What is up this kid’s butt? Seriously. I don’t watch the show, but from the re-runs I’ve caught, it’s just a harmless buddy sitcom. It’s not like he’s on “American Horror Story” or “True Blood.” Don’t get me wrong, I’m a religious viewer (no pun intended) of both of those shows, but they are hyper-sexual and violent. I mean, then *maybe* I could get the Christian outrage, but the kid is on a harmless little network sitcom. Chill the eff out, Kirk 2.0. What a lousy effing career path to emulate.

  48. Cleveland Girl says:

This kid is literally a horrible actor. Any kid could have had that part. They should fire his ass, and I am sure the show will not suffer from it.

  49. Kricket says:

Cool, you made you views known. The show is filthy and evil. So when are you going to give back all the money it’s earned you over the years, because it’s tainted as well, right?

Also, if the show is basically the root of all evil and you want off of it so bad, why then do you complain bitterly about your characters lack of air/studio time? It’s really bad so being on less should make you happy, right?

No word has come out about you wanting to leave the show. Have you even asked or still enjoying the fat paycheck?

Scientology must be really bummed since this story broke. Prime puppet material and he’s not with them, what a wasted opp. What a prat.

  50. Relli says:

Kirk Cameron we have found you a disciple!

  51. erika says:

    what a selfish prick…

angus, I have an idea for you, QUIT the show if your aesthetic morals are that high! oh! i know, ashamed at the bloody money you make (MILLIONS) of off such filth? then dedicate your entire salary to a needy organization…come on..

STAND BY YOUR WORD….don’t sneer at me you billionaire prick for having such low morals to watch such ‘filth’ when you’re sitting on your fat ass gobbling up $100 bills to wipe your ass with while the rest of America STRUGGLES.

ps- I stopped watching your show years ago not for the filth factor, but for the talentless prick factor involved and now i’m not just talking Sheen….

  52. Caitlin says:

I’m from Oklahoma, one of the reddest, Christian-est states in the Union, and honestly I bet you that the vast majority of people I know would agree with this kid wholeheartedly. I used to attend one of the more progressive churches in OKC, and even there this hoo-ha about “the enemy” came up all the time. I agree he’s being a jerk, a hypocrite, and a little overly zealous, but many of these comments make it sound as though he’s wayyyy out on the fringe with his beliefs. Let me tell you – he’s not. He’s newly-converted and passionate and excited, but it certainly does seem as though his fervor has clouded his ability to think logically and self-reflexively. But, honestly, that’s the case with most Christians.

  53. ezra says:

That preacher is a manipulative bastard and I hope this young idiot wakes up and gets the hell away from his clutches.
Bet Angus has donated a lot of his earnings from this “unholy” show to the preacher man whom I bet has no qualms having his pockets filled by this “filthy” money. I too have a brother who was taken in by these fundamentalist cult bastards and believe me they can do such a number on a troubled vulnerable mind & they can destroy entire families. RUN ANGUS RUN!!!
