This has been a sucky day and this just pushed me over the edge, LOL

  2. Amelia says:

    Oh FFS. Seriously?
This is the worst joke ever.
Is every casting agent in Hollywood smoking the wacky stuff?
I watched the 25th anniversary DVD of Les Mis last night, and if Annie gets that Oscar, I’m going to be mighty p*ssed. Oy.

  3. KellyinSeattle says:

Why would they make another Sound of Music? Leave it alone….
I saw a show where all the “kids” from the show were older now, and they all say Julie Andrews was AWESOME! She’s a legend.

    • sugarskulls says:

Gack – I bet they are doing a remake now because the royalty rights have expired and they don’t have to pay anyone to use the material anymore. I am related to Howard Lindsey, who along with Russel Crouse wrote the original play. My family inherited some of the royalty rights and let me tell you, those royalties were not insignificant and we only had a share – so yeah, I kinda expected this (but not Carrie Underwood!) when it entered the public domain.

      • Esmom says:

Wow, that’s so cool. And so sad that anyone would want to remake it. People will do anything to make a buck.

      • CC says:

Yea and it;s becoming more and more commonplace, or the endless superman remakes just to retain that specific rights.

And until the public as a whole, boycots garbage like that and makes it economically unviable, they’ll keep churningout the remakes. Holywood has little more that cookiecutter writers, out of grad school but without a single original idea. They know all the theory though! (being sarcastic but whatever, schooling doesn’t equal talent or ideas)

      +1

  4. Skipper says:

I clicked on the pink link and read the comments. I regret that decision.

    • DeltaJuliet says:

No sh-t. Put out a mgazine cover saying “PINK TOPLESS! BARES ALL!” and men will be clamoring to buy it. A pic of her breastfeeding (and you can’t even see anything AT ALL) and people get all up at arms. WTF man

  5. Anaya says:

    Never tamper with classics.

  6. BooBooLaRue says:

    All of the above. WTF?

Ugh. So many kinds of wrong.

  10. technicolordaisies says:

i love Lee Pace. (I miss Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls.) He’s beautiful, he sings, he’s tall as hell. Please, make him happen! And talk about him anytime!

    What the f*ck Hollywood?

    GAG

  13. Newtsgal says:

While I might throw alittle side-eye at the idea of Carrie in the Sound of Music. I have to say, I was really stunned when a friend sent me the Youtube video of her singing “How great thou art” That little girl has a set of lungs on her that don’t quit. I had never heard anyone sing that song so beautifully. Don’t believe me check it out….http://youtu.be/pLLMzr3PFgk

    • Relli says:

I listened to the clip MK had posted on dlisted of her singing, she is good but i will also check out that clip. AND she has been doing all these things to make me like her support of gay marriage and interviews on NPR that make her sound smart. Then lainey writes an intersting article which is neither positive nor negative… Now i am kind of excited to see Country Bitch do her thing.

  14. Abby says:

THAT’S where I’ve seen Lee Pace before. Pushing Daisies!

    that is all.

  15. Christy says:

    Go Pink!

  16. Samigirl says:

    1. OH HELLLLLLL NO.

    2. God, I love P!nk. The comments on that thread are disturbing though. Stop breastfeeding at 6 months? Guess I’m disgusting to her. 7 months EBF and still going strong (even though she’s got 7 f*cking teeth)!

edit: commented for the first time on that post. Am about to get into an internet fight with someone, LOL. Breastfeeding warrior over here!

    • Screw Stewrat 99 says:

I don’t understand all of the fuss about Pink. What do those people think women did before there were bottles?

If you’re in public, covered and being discreet, wth is the prob? It’s natural and healthy. It’s not like her boobs are out and about and in your face.

People need to get off their high horse and look the other way if it bothers them so much to see a baby under a blanket. Tell them bitches off!!

      • Samigirl says:

Exactly. I’ve never seen a woman plop her breasts out and just sit there with her ladies all in everyones face. I’ve always nursed discreetly in public. I’ve even had friends tell me they couldn’t even TELL I was nursing. Same with that picture of pink. She just looks like she’s snuggling Willow.

    • Agnes says:

Yay for breastfeeding! AND doing it in public. I would have no problem with women doing it w/o covers either – if it bothers someone, why the hell are they staring? Kudos to you Sami for 7 months and going! (I’ve been at it for 3 months so far.)

      • judyjudy says:

I nursed both of mine until they were three (gasp!) We stopped nursing in public at 2, only because we didn’t need to when we were on-the-go. No one ever said a negative thing about it to me. I’m sure I got some side eye but I really don’t care. My children are smart, healthy, and well adjusted. It always baffles me how out of sorts people get about it.

      • Samigirl says:

@Agnes You go girl! I honestly think the first three months are the hardest!

@judyjudy that is impressive! I want to go at least 2 years, but I’m going to let her self wean. If anyone else has an issue with it, that’s their problem.

    • Fatkid says:

@Samigirl, I had no intention of clicking on the Pink link until I read your comment about getting into a ‘comment fight’. I went to read that interaction, you go girl! I don’t have children of my own, but I’m smart enough to understand people should feed their child when the child is hungry, not when it suits their schedule. For what it’s worth, I thought you handled that with a lot of tact.

      • Samigirl says:

You’re kind, but I was kind of rude, lol! I feel bad for her? She has no idea what she’s talking about. My daughter wouldn’t take a bottle until she was 3 months. It’s not as easy as just staying at home or giving them a bottle if you’re out. As I stated, it’s quite easy for her to judge as she has no children, and has never been in that kind of situation!

    • Lucky Charm says:

Seriously, if we can eat dinner at the dinner table, why would it be any different for a baby? The whole purpose for breasts, anyway, is to feed a child, that’s what nature intended.

I find people who don’t chew with their mouth closed, or talk with a mouth full of food to be far more disgusting or disturbing than a nursing baby!

I don’t know enough about Carrie to say if she’d be a good Maria or not, so I’m withholding comment.

I miss Pushing Daisies! That was a fun, quirky show.

      • Newyorking says:

Totally agree. People with bad table manners are much much more disgusting than a mother feeding her baby. I read comments on that site and was disgusted, most of the comments were from non-mothers, go figure. One of my friends breastfeeds her baby, when the baby is hungry she feeds him. We went hiking yesterday and she had to feed him, she sat in the cold and did so. What is the harm in that? Its not like mothers enjoy it, it is a necessity. People who are insensitive about it are disgusting and need to shut the f up.

  17. Sisi says:

Does CArrie realise that Maria doesn’t wear tacky lacy spackle crap from Erdem or Marchesa?

  18. Joyce says:

No no no no. I’m not against country music but her sound doesn’t go with the part. Unless, they’ll rename it “The Country Sound of Music”.

  19. Jenna says:

I loved Lee Pace in ‘Pushing Daisies’!!! Oh how I miss the Pie Maker! That was such a good show.

And I have no problem with what Pink did. You can’t see anything and she looks discreet and covered enough. What about teeth though? That’s has to hurt a bit…right?

    • Samigirl says:

If the latch is correct, the teeth don’t play a factor in nursing. However, my daughter LIKES to bite, and I get bit 2-3 times a day. And it hurts. Like little razors cutting my nipples off!

      • Jenna says:

Oy! *covers nips* Honestly, if I have children in the FAR distant future and can breastfeed, that’s one of my biggest fears! Getting a nip bitten into.

      • Samigirl says:

Lol!!! Keep in mind, most 7 mo olds don’t ha e 7 teeth :-P. my girlfriend’s 15 month old doesnt even have 7 teeth. It hurts but I still enjoy nursing.

  20. Kelly says:

Think she will do a great job. Don’t get the anger.

  21. lucy2 says:

Carrie has a great voice, but I don’t see her being a good actress at all. More importantly, why the need for a remake?

Lee Pace was really good in Lincoln, and I loved Pushing Daisies too. What a charming show that was.

    • Agnes says:

Everything is getting freaking remade. Seriously, people have no new ideas or something. Watch the original, save the production etc costs, and give me the money you were going to spend to make crap to pay off my student loans, people! Haha.

  22. Agnes says:

Good to see that Anna Farris’ baby is doing well! We have a 3 month-old named Jack as well. 🙂 (He was, thankfully, born only 2 weeks early and didn’t need to be in NICU.)

  23. Jess says:

MAKEUP!! Does she chisel it off? She’s not ugly, why the need to hide behind so many layers?

  24. holly hobby says:

So is she going to sing it with a twang? Will the story be relocated in the South?

Who’s playing the Captain? Taylor Hicks from American Idol? Reuban Studdard?

I bet Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer are rolling their eyes!

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

  25. Adrien says:

She’s my favorite American Idol (next to Kelly) and she’s also the prettiest but she no Maria VOnn Trapp.

    • Jag says:

Why didn’t they pick Kelly? Your comment reminded me she exists, and she has a MUCH better voice – without the country twang – than Carrie does. Maybe because she’s not wanting to get into acting, perhaps? hmmm

  26. PoliteTeaSipper says:

I really don’t want an okie twang mixed in to my sound of music. Thanks but no thanks.

  27. TheOneAndOnly says:

Agree Agnes but isn’t this really a big hollywood FU to the public; essentially they are saying we’re out of ideas, we’ll remake everything, and we’ll still make money off the public.

  28. B says:

    She’s so beautifully fake….

Like a barbie doll come to life.

  29. Tuxedo Cat says:

I would like to see Katharine McPhee in this role….

  30. Lemonade says:

i mean, if it were a country music revamped version of it i wouldnt have an issue. but then, carrie is no actress and there are dozens of broadway stars who would do a better job

  31. Sunnyjyl says:

I tried to watch/listen. She just doesn’t have the chops to pull it off. 🙁

  32. TG says:

The Sound of Music is one of my all time favorite movies. It was the very first movie we ever owned when I was a kid. We actually had a beta (does anyone remember those?) and we watched it over and over and memorized every line and song. Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer were the best and no one could do it better so why even try. Who the heck does Carrie Underwood think she is. To this day I still sing those tunes to myself and now to my little daughter. Of course I don’t sound anything like Julie Andrews or the Reverend Mother but, I try!

  33. crtb says:

I hate hate hate remakesb ut I don’t get all of the hate. Carrie has a beautiful voice and will do a great job in TSOM.

  34. Newyorking says:

What is with all these remakes? SOM is a classic, it is always a bad idea to remake a classic. As for Carrie, I always found her voice too screechy and don’t like her singing.
