Jean Dujardin arrives in LA ahead of his Oscar presenting duties: would you hit it?

Everyone is arriving in Los Angeles for Oscar weekend! Anybody who is anybody is coming to LA to schmooze and network and party and get drunk, and that includes last year’s Oscar winners too. These are photos of Jean Dujardin, last year’s Best Actor Oscar winner for The Artist, arriving at LAX last night. Doesn’t he look handsome? I remember last year someone referred to him as “the French George Clooney.” That fits. George has issues, of course, but George is always a handsome devil, and Jean is too.

It’s customary for the previous year’s Oscar winner to present the gender-opposite version of their award. Meaning that Jean is going to present Best Actress this year… possibly to French actress Emmanuelle Riva? Or maybe to Jennifer Lawrence or Jessica Chastain or even Naomi Watts or Quvenzhané Wallis. I would love it if Jean had to try to pronounce “Quvenzhané Wallis.” This also means that Meryl Streep will be at the Oscars to present Best Actor – maybe to Daniel Day-Lewis? Maybe to Hugh Jackman?

Anyway, I don’t have any real purpose to posting these photos, only they got me excited for all of the big names who will be on the Oscar red carpet. I imagine Jean will have so much more fun this time around without the unyielding pressure of an Oscar campaign… although, to be fair, his Oscar campaign last year was amazing and he performed beautifully. And yes, I would HIT IT. I know his handsomeness kind of veers into smarminess, but Jean is looking really hot.

And here are some photos of Dujardin at the taping of the French TV show “Vivement Dimanche” in Paris earlier this week. God, he’s such a handsome devil.

Didn’t know who he was, but yes. Being French also helps his argument significantly.

    • Amelia says:

In which case, I hope you’re watching Spiral or Mr Selfridge – Gregory Fitoussi will invade his way into your life before you can say ‘Ooh la la!’

      • T.Fanty says:

I haven’t seen Mr. Selfridge, but I hear it’s a lot of fun. And I definitely will it offers an dong alternative to Piven.

    • j.eyre says:

@T.Fan – sorry to take you off topic here but I did not know where else I should meet up with you. I am in the middle of re-writes on the Macbeth piece and this series takes my editor twice as long to edit. Most of the time is spent on the phone with me saying “but that reference is so funny” and her saying “yes, but although you don’t believe me, there are people who have not read this book.” and then me proclaiming “I don’t want to associate with people like that” and slamming the phone down…

However, since I am so flattered by your request, here is the very first in the series. The subject will not surprise you:

    • T.Fanty says:

      Hooray! Thank you!

And I love your editing process! That is exactly how I would be – and who hasn’t read Macbeth?!?!

I’m actually in the process of putting together an abstract about The Hollow Crown. Which should be fun, but any attempts at pulling articles on it leads me almost immediately to tumblr.

ETA: Just read it! Am contemplating changing my CB moniker to Crazy Bitch in the Attic. And there’s no way St.Johnn would have allowed himself to expire in such an opulent place as the Taj Mahal. That would have been TOTALLY self-indulgent.

Will the Macbeth translation involve a crazy bitch on the battlements (then off them)? I do hope so.

I’m rummaging around on your site now, and thoroughly enjoying the reading! Thanks for sharing.

One more thing (ETAA) – have you ever read the Eliza Heywood novella, Fantomina? I think you would LOVE it.

      • j.eyre says:

Ah *blush* – thanks. I shall watch all the Hollow Crown this week in solidarity. Is this for school or just fun? Is there a Hollow Crown tumblr? Is it bad? There are some Tumblr fashion sites that are wonderful. Are the fan ones just nuts?

I have not read that novella but shall add it to the list. I am enjoying Fingersmith.

Have a lovely night. An extra kiss to the Fantlings from me.

  2. Sandy says:

So he coloured his hair for last year’s award? Nice 😛

  3. marie says:

see I don’t think French George Clooney, cause I’d sleep with Jean but not Clooney..

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Me too. I do get a bit of “smarmy French dude” from him but somehow sexy as well.
I also like him so much more with salt and pepper hair and the beard.

      I would definitely hit it.

PS-how tall is he? I can’t tell if he’s short or if it’s just the camera angle.

      • Amelia says:

A quick google says he’s 182cm which is roughly 5 foot 11 and a half.
No short guys need apply, Kitten? 🙂

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I’m generally opposed to short, Amelia. I could do 5’11” but I prefer over 6′.
I guess I can make an exception for Jean 😉

      • GiGi says:

I was just going to ask about his height, too… I could totally do smarmy French for a bit.

    • loveisthecoal says:

Agreed, I’d definitely hit it with Jean…Clooney not so much. I like his smile! I’m aware it makes me a weirdo but I actually prefer slightly imperfect teeth. SLIGHTLY…graveyard mouth is another story.

    • j.eyre says:

Well, if I am being honest, I would sleep with just about anybody so yes to him and Clooney – but I would want to sleep with Jean more.

I get a Gene Kelly vibe from him. It’s the eyes and the grace of his movements.

  4. Scarlet Vixen says:

He looks like a French Dermot Mulroney. The salt & pepper hair is nice-he can definitely pull it off.

  5. brin says:

    Damn, he’s looking tres fine!

  6. allons-y alonso says:

George Clooney wishes he was as cool as Jean Dujardin. I absolutely loved The Artist. Definitely in my Top 5 list

  7. fabgrrl says:

I don’t know about “smarmy”, but maybe his handsomeness veers into dirtiness. In a good way. Like, he’d be a perfect gentleman in public, while whispering lewd things to you the whole time. And he’d be a dirty, dirty boy in the sack.

  8. judith grimes says:

Who? was my 1st reaction, too…he’s hot for an older dude. Clooney- ewww- no way.

  9. chloe says:

I like the salt and pepper look, he’s very handsome and doable.

  10. mel says:

He looks even better! I’m glad he did not suffer of any backlash

  11. cheerfulg says:

Oui! Jean could be my pretend boyfriend any day of the week or month or year or…

  12. Deb says:

I loves me some French men. Vive l’amour

  13. grabbyhands says:

Over and over again. I’d hit it like the fist of an angry god.

  14. fan says:

I think the screen will be set on fire when Dujardin and Clooney will appear together in The Monuments Men. Talk about hotness! LOL

  15. Jen says:

I like the gray. He’s good-looking enough, I guess, but he’s French, so no thanks. Blech.

Also, just FINALLY realized who Justin Theroux always reminds me of in those pics where he shiny and too-smiley, and it’s Dujardin last year at the Oscars! Man, that is a relief to figure that out.

  16. Bijlee says:

    Nope.

  17. LadyAnne says:

And he is so so so funny, which makes him hotter in my book.

  18. Jen says:

George Clooney is charming and handsome, but has absolutely ZERO sex-appeal. For me, anyway.

You know how they always say he’s this generation’s Dean Martin? Yeah, no. I just watched an episode of Dean’s old variety show where he sang & danced with Juliet Prowse, and the way he looked at her damn near melted my TV, it was so hot. THAT guy was handsome and charming and SEXY.

  19. BW says:

I love his forehead wrinkles and his eye crinkles. Very sexy. Men with no lines look like women.

  20. Spaz says:

I would hit it. HARD. TRÈS BEAU!

  21. dref22 says:

I’d hit it many, many times. He looks older than his real age though.

    • Christina says:

Agreed. I was quite surprised to discover he’s only in his early 40s. And it’s not the grey hair – I thought the same last year, when he had his hair dyed black.

  22. Oops says:

Ah que non, I can’t understand how you can find him sexy, hot…. I hate his smile… perhaps because I’m french I can’t see his appeal but jamais même si on me paie

  23. kingkayski says:

Oh mon dieu!!Je veux frapper si difficile!

  24. lili says:

In France he has made a lot of comic films. He is a nice guy (in interwiews at least), but I have always find him rather average as an actor. He lives with the same woman for many years. She is an actor too.

    • lili says:

      “She is an actor too”
      Sorry, an actress (lol) !

    • Bijlee says:

…I’m starting to rethink my answer with all the he’s such a nice funny guy comments. I like me some nice, funny, relatively handsome men.

    • Frances says:

+ 1, in France, actually, he is considered as an average actor, with a good comical temper. He certainly seems sympathetic, for the moment, because he just had very hard words, because of negative internet reactions upon a bad tv show he was in.

  25. Kaligula says:

Duh. No brainier: Yes!!! You know he would be fantastic in bed….

  26. Diana says:

    Yes! he’s delicious.

  27. elceibeno08 says:

Oh my god yes!!! The man is hot in a non try-hard way. He looks very natural and sexy. The gray hair and beard suit him to a T. All man with gray hair should just let it be cause is very becoming.

  28. rei says:

The OSS 117 films are brilliant and funny!

  29. Yumm says:

Like a house on fire, I would! And Clooney too! Cause I’m all about Kentucky boys….

  30. MG says:

For some reason French dudes don’t do it for me. But I’ll give Jean the chance to change my mind.

  31. Christina says:

    The French George Clooney?

Please. George dreams about being anywhere near as sexy as Jean Du Jardin.

  32. LadyC says:

    In a word… Oui!

  33. Tig says:

    Would I hit it? Oui x 2!!

  34. Claudia says:

Rawr. I am loving this beard trend, both in him and Clooney.

  35. bluhare says:

I’ll hoe Jean’s garden any day of the week. In spades. 🙂

  36. Anon says:

Hollywood is so funny. One guy grows a certain kind of beard, and they all have to have that kind of beard. One woman dyes her hair blond with half an inch of roots showing and they all have to have that look. It gets so you can’t even tell them apart.

Where is someone with some individuality?

  37. valleymiss says:

Totally, totally would. I was SO glad he beat Smarmy Clooney last year. I just wish we saw a lot more of Jean in the states. He definitely did NOT capitalize on his win.

    • ??? says:

Yes, Dujardin is tres beau, and ugh, Clooney isn’t even in the same league as this guy, imo.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Jean wanted or had planned on capitalizing on his win in Hollywood.

I remember reading a newspaper article last year in which he (and Berenice Bejo, for that matter) didn’t get all the hoopla over the Oscars and the concept of “celebrity” in Hollywood.

Again, I could be way off, but he seems pretty content with his career in France.

  38. Maritza says:

Oh yeah, he’s handsome. He reminds me of Oliver Martinez when he did the movie “Unfaithful”.

  39. Seagulls says:

Kind of has the lollipop thing going on in these pictures.

Love his odd little eye teeth!

  40. Chickie Baby says:

Uh..YEAH, I would hit it. He’s quite the dreamboat!

  41. Nev says:

    YUMMERS!!!

  42. EscapedConvent says:

Mmmmmm. That is a fine-lookin’ man. I’d hit it until he got a restraining order.

I love what he’s wearing at the airport. For some reason, men wearing grey & black together look extra-hot. Sounds silly, but look at those first 3 pics! Even the grey in his beard looks good, & usually that detracts for me.

Please wrap him up gently, in gauze, & send.

  43. Mara says:

He is really charming and a very good actor .

  44. Perplexed says:

Oui, oui, oui je le frapperais, plusieurs plusieurs fois. LOL

I just read that Kristen Stewart will also present.
Better check my supply of Zantac.

But getting back to Jean, he is a riot in OSS117, especially in the outtakes:

  45. HappyJoyJoy says:

    Why yes; Yes I would.

  46. phaksi says:

I just watched The Artist today so yes 🙂

  47. Beatriz says:

Do you even have to ask? Yes in a heartbeat ;)!

  48. Kelly says:

    IN A NEW YORK MINUTE.

I saw someone make the comparison of Jean to Gene Kelly. I never tire of that comparison since these are my two favorites. I’d be perfectly happy with either…..or both.

The beard and touch of grey suit him perfectly.

  49. Twez says:

My ovaries are exploding with delight.

  50. bluhare says:

This thread is hysterical. I dont’ think I’ve seen so much agreement on a man’s hotness in ages! I might actually watch the awards on Sunday. I forgot he’d be presenting.

(And I agree with you all.)

  51. gg says:

    He is deelish.

  52. Elizadolittle says:

Oui, monsieur!!! Any time any place.
(I have never been gaga over an actor/celeb before, but he’s something.)

  53. aquarius74 says:

Jean Dujardin is totally hot… and I’m not saying this because I’m french.

Younger boys look like dolls, you know ?

That’s why Dujardin and Clooney are so popular. And maybe that’s why nobody cares about Fassbender looking older because it makes him so more interesting.
