Seth McFarlane & Charlize Theron aren’t dating because ‘she is not his type’?!

Yesterday, many of us were slightly disturbed to see photos of Charlize Theron and Seth McFarlane out for dinner on Monday night in LA. Most casual observers tended to note that Charlize did not look happy – at ALL – to be seen with Seth, and that Seth looked pretty happy to be seen with Charlize. My thought was that while Charlize might come across as shame-dating Seth, she probably doesn’t give a crap what we think because… you know, she’s Charlize. But as it turns out (hahahahaha), we were ALL wrong. As it turns out, Seth is playing it like CHARLIZE THERON is not HIS type.

Charlize Theron and Seth MacFarlane’s dinner date Sunday night sparked all kinds of relationship rumors.

The Family Guy mastermind and Oscar winner (trying to hide her face) were snapped leaving Matsuhisa, a sushi restaurant, together in Beverly Hills. But, a source tells E! News the twosome “def aren’t dating.”

And just why not? According to a source, “She is not his type.” (Um…) Charlize is, however, the lead in Seth’s next movie, A Million Ways to Die.

“They are just friends,” adds the source, noting that “Charlize is single.”

As you’ll recall, Seth and his Game of Thrones girlfriend Emilia Clarke split amicably last month.

Hey now, no worries. Springtime is the best for single people.

[From E! News]

The “source” has Stewie’s voice, I promise. But seriously, in what world is Charlize Theron NOT Seth’s type? Seth dates really attractive women – he just broke up with the Khaleesi, Emilia Clarke (who is gorgeous). He also spent some time with Ryan Phillippe’s baby-mama Alexis Knapp (who is gorgeous). I think he also banged Ashley Greene at some point too, as well as assorted Playboy models and random “aspiring actresses”. His type seems to be really pretty, leggy brunettes with great bodies, but he doesn’t date that type exclusively. And I think most men (except for maybe Michael Fassbender) will make an exception for Charlize, right? How in the world is Seth successfully playing this as “we’re not dating because I’m not really into HER”???

If she’s not his type, she should be thankful. Vile, misogynistic, bigoted creep. Oh, I’m sorry, that’s just his “sense of humor” and if I don’t like it or him, I just “don’t get it.”

Ahem. Strong feelings about him, obviously. In any case, Charlize can do better.

    • ichsi says:

      +1

      McFarlane is a major douche!

I chuckled at the Fassbender thing. Girl was carrying a torch there, wasn’t she? She likes them Irish and and handsome (see Townsend) and Seth is neither. So who is not who’s type here, huh?

      • valleymiss says:

Is Seth’s background not Irish? I mean, he’s a McFarlane. If he’s not Irish, he’s Scottish. He doesn’t have an accent, though…

      • Mairead says:

McFarlane is more a Scottish surname. And given that that particular emigrant ship likely sailed decades ago, I’d be more surprised if he did have any non-American accent.

    • Jenny says:

I’m sorry, I don’t want to get cussed out here, but I missed out on why people hate this guy so much. I don’t really know anything he’s done besides Ted and the Oscars and I didn’t find either to be that funny, but for the most part I didn’t find them that offensive either. I’m not being snarky; I am actually curious as to what is wrong with this guy.

      • Jag says:

Watch some episodes of Family Guy and American Dad and you’ll see why. Also some of his interviews as well. He’s not a nice person, imo.

      • Eve says:

        @ Jenny:

From Seth MacFarlane’s profile in The New Yorker:

“On dating D-list starlets like Christa Campbell, Eliza Dushku, Kate Todd and Amanda Bynes: “It’s exhausting dating several people at once. It gets tiresome, because people think they have you prematurely figured out. . . .I’m not somebody who has to go home and talk about theoretical physics at the end of a day when I’ve already been wringing my brain dry. I don’t necessarily look for an intellectual equal. I’d rather have somebody whose company excites me. That’s what my father had. My father and my mother were not–they were not intellectual equals by any means.”

        And:

“MacFarlane attributes the crude ethnic humor in his shows to his predominantly Jewish writing staff: “We are presenting the Archie Bunker point of view and making fun of the stereotypes–not making fun of the groups. But if I’m really being honest, then maybe there’s a part of me that’s stuck in high school and we’re laughing because we’re not supposed to. I don’t know the psychology. At the core, I know none of us gives a shit. Some people say that stereotypes exist for a reason. I’m in no way qualified to make that determination. But I’m sitting in a room with a writing staff that is in large part Jewish, and those are the guys pitching the jokes.”

There’s also this interesting anedocte (about him getting spray-on tans):

“During Family Guy‘s seventh season, a young woman began showing up at the office. Without explanation, she would wheel a large piece of equipment into a lavatory just off the writers’ room and wait there for MacFarlane, who would excuse himself and disappear into the bathroom. Several former staff members told me that although everyone could hear the whooshing sound of a spray-tan machine, no one dared make a joke about it when MacFarlane emerged, bronzed and burnished.”

Now, there’s nothing wrong with getting spray-on tans, but it’s very telling that no one was supposed to crack a joke at that, even though he and FG’s writing staff make fun of people’s appearance and age all the bloody time on his show(s). He can dish it out, but he can’t take it.

      • Jenny says:

Thank you Eve; starting to get the picture. This guy is definitely a douche!

      • videli says:

Did he just call his mom stupid? Also: yeah, always, blame it on the Jews, Seth!

      • andrea says:

Hi Eve, I never really read up on him before, but with these quotes, I’ve got a new perspective on the humor in his shows. I used to think it was quite clever because it was satirical, but now I realize that is actually how HE thinks.

      • Eve says:

        @ Videli:

Nah…he didn’t call her stupid, he just implied she was not as smart as his father, but she probably balanced that out with being an “exciting company” (by the way, his mother died in 2010).

        @ Andrea:

I’d post the entire New Yorker article if I could. Unfortunately, it’s only available for subscribers.

      • videli says:

Eve, yes, I got that he did not call his mom that way, I was being silly hyperbolic. As for my own mom, if I were to compare my parents like Seth did, she’d probably chase me around with a broom and a pair of pruning shears. She sure makes an exciting company!

      • Eve says:

        @ Videli:

I got that (you’re being hyperbolic). I was actually being sarcastic in my reply — in a way, I think he DID call her stupid (he basically compared her to the bimbos he usually dates, since he clearly states he wants the same his “father had”). He’s vile.

      • Faye says:

@Jenny – I would never curse someone out for having a different opinion than me! I just have issues with some McFarlane fans who respond to every negative comment about him with “Oh, you just don’t ‘get’ his sense of humor.”

He is incredibly misogynistic — besides the “boob song” at the Oscars, he’s talked about how he only wants a woman for looks (I think someone posted excerpts here). Some of the jokes on his show are very racist, as well, IMO.

He’s also very, very anti-Semitic. Nearly every episode of his show has these over the top “jokes” about Jews running the media, finance, the world, etc. — all stuff neo-Nazis just love. His movie “Ted” was chock full of little gems like that. He’s made jokes about pretending to support Israel to get in with all “the Jews who run Hollywood.” When he was gunning for an Emmy nomination, he sent a “for your consideration” card that said, and I quote verbatim, “Come on, all you bloated, privileged Brentwood Jews! Let me into your club!”

For me, the worst thing he said was during some kind of Family Guy behind the scenes special. One of the cast members, Alex Borstein, is Jewish, and she said something about not wanting to sing the Austrian national anthem because her grandparents were killed by Austrian Nazis. His response: “You should be grateful for the Holocaust killing so many Jews, because now you don’t have a lot of competition. I mean, how many female Jewish comediennes are there, right?”

And so on and so forth. I admit that I’m Jewish and the granddaughter of an Auschwitz survivor, so maybe I’m a little sensitive. But honestly, I can take a few jokes about my heritage made in good humor. His idea of humor is to repeat a constant barrage of comments that are made to this day by neo-Nazis and other hate groups, just with a laugh track at the end of them. I don’t think he’d get away with it if he were doing that to any other minority group, and I can’t understand his popularity, frankly.

        Rant over :).

      • Cameron says:

Well based on the names of women mentioned. It’s obvious he likes 20 something year olds. Isn’t Charlize pushing 40?

      • Mairead says:

All of the above and his default jokes are rape jokes. Which aren’t even remotely funny,

American Dad was pretty good for a while there, but it’s disappearing up the abyss of his arse and playing catch-up with Family Guy.

    • mom2two says:

Those quotes attributed to him just make me like him less than I already do. He is a douche and Charlize can do (and deserves) better. So does Emilia Clarke, I don’t know who dumped who between her and Seth but I am glad she is not with him anymore.

    • Jane says:

Faye, I agree with you 1000%. He has zero respect for women, is blatantly anti semitic and extremely opportunistic. I also think Charlize is not his type because she’s missing a serious piece of equipment between her legs.

    • Jane says:

Faye, I completely understand, appreciate and agree with your your sentiments. I was very touched by your emails. If you’d like to chat, please write me at njk303@aol.com. We share a great deal in common besides religion.

  2. Liv says:

    Hahaha!

What an idiot. And what a rude way to shut down the rumors.

  3. Joanna says:

She seems like a smart, independent woman to me. Some men prefer women who aren’t as smart because they’re easier to control and manipulate, imo. He might want someone who’s not famous so he can be the big cheese.

    • pinkerton says:

If she was dumb enough to be seen in public with this vile sexist creature she is not smart at all so personally I think this romance is a real possibility.

    • Kath says:

I’ve lost respect for George Clooney for this reason. While I like that he’s upfront about not wanting to marry or have kids, it’s the fact he dates women 20-odd years younger who don’t compete with him in terms of intelligence or career that I find offputting.

  4. marie says:

haha yeah, because he turned her down. riiigghht..

  5. GossipG says:

    CHARLIZE< DONT DO IT!!!nooooooooo

  6. Jennykins says:

I hate to say it but I think he means that she’s older and has a baby. It’s not that she’s not hot enough. To be honest she prob scares h too, look at the girls he’s dated, now look at Charlize? She’s accomplished, well spoken, down to earth and caring. Plus she’s perfect hot and a bad bad bitch. His little ween prob scuttled in fear back into his body before he even though about touching her.

    • MonicaQ says:

It’s for sure the baby. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen dudes–“She’s so smart and funny and *damn* she’s fine but…she’s got a 2 year old! I can’t deal with that!”

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Agreed. She is so out of his league, she probably kind of intimidates him.

Anyway, since she is starring in his upcoming film, who is to say this wasn’t a business dinner? Having paps around certainly creates an early buzz for it.

      • Jennykins says:

Exactly! I can see her doing business with him, dude has a niche and can be funny, but she’s in a completely different place socially. This is at least what I tell myself because I love her ever so much lol

  7. Arock says:

First of all….riiiigggghhhht. You’re out of her league. *snort*
Second- has he had work done? He has that same “plate face” look Bruce Jenner has.

  8. Nicole says:

She’s a beautiful woman. His type is exceptionally pretty, somewhat naive girls. There is a difference.

  9. Oops says:

And why not? For example I know she’s not my brother’s type, he’s more into women like Monica Belluci, Sofia Vergara….
Or perhaps she’s not hys type because she doesn’t want him :p

  10. serena says:

    What a douche.

  11. Mirna says:

    His “type” has a penis.

  12. susan says:

I call it bs, they’re totally dating, and he’s charlize’s type though, weird and not very attractive, dark haired men.

    • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

I agree susan. And he’s saying stuff in the press like “she’s not my type” because it cracks her up.

  13. Emily says:

If I were a celebrity, I’d be pegged as such a ‘whore’. I’ve got loads of male friends I hang out with… Imagine the headlines! You can’t do anything with someone of the opposite sex (and often the same sex) without people saying you’re screwing

  14. gee says:

    He likes them young.

  15. LAK says:

Based on your description of the sorts of girls (emphasise, girls), of course she isn’t his type. She’s an accomplished alpha, and she’s a woman (emphasise, woman). Some men don’t like that, no matter how beautiful the woman is. They’d rather be the alpha (real or imaginary) and date girls (emphasise, girls) who don’t challenge them.

  16. Maria says:

she is too old and too intelligent and too independent for him. so yeah she is not his type.

  17. Talie says:

    She’s probably too tall.

  18. momoftwo says:

Am I the only one who thinks he was totally joking?

It’s funny because she is this tall gorgeous successful amazing woman….who’s type wouldn’t she be.

    • Chris says:

Agreed. I think he said it jokingly. They are friends and he is being facetious.

    • HappyMom says:

I completely agree with you! He had to have been kidding. She’s gorgeous and talented.

  19. Harpreet says:

Hmmm, she is friends with Seth and Chelsea Handler, what is that saying… your friends are are a reflection of who you are?

  20. Bijlee says:

It’s because his royal douchelord realizes how dumb he actually sounds when talking to her. As much as I dislike Charlize I don’t think she likes putting up with pretentious, egomaniacs likes this guy. I mean her type is attractive, handsome, down to earth, intelligent men as evidenced by the way she flirted so openly with Jon Hamm on the graham norton show, fassbender, and her relationship with Townsend.

Macfarlane is just a money grubbing whore. He makes formulaic lowest common denominator crap and DOES NOT own it. He acts as if his work is providing scathing satirical commentary on the state of the world, when it’s just a mindless cartoon rip off of the Simpsons based in shock value. I don’t need to turn my brain on to watch it and I doubt I takes much brain power beyond frat boy douche to write it. He tried to make fun of the south park guys, but his joke was so distasteful, not even the writers or any of his staff laughed at it! His work is not brilliant in any way shape or form. Nor is he.

He’s humorless about himself. He can’t take a joke. The guy gets spray tans delivered to his office and no one in his staff DARES to ever mention that he got one. He keeps his people waiting for hours and hours for him at table reads. He has no respect for their time apparently. Then he says this intellectual equals crap. Oh AND Seth has mad respect for the other liberal jerk Bill Mahr. Nuff said. Two pretentious dimwits who think they are far more clever than they truly are.

Now I feel bad. Ive said so many mean things, the least i can do is say something nice. I can’t hate Seth completely though, he has redeemable qualities has far as the political parties and groups he supports. He worked as a writer on Johnny bravo and cow and chicken. Two cartoons I loved as a kid. I also liked his sock puppets flight skit at the oscars. If he thought of that himself…well it was funny. but I still find the man to be an idiot.

  21. hnothistory says:

I was thinking it was a joke too….

  22. lady mary. says:

misogynist , bird eyed , ugly ferret ,what else can u expect from the mouth of a man who wrote “we saw ur boobs”,why didnt Charlize just smack him with her handbag ,when paps were photographing them

  23. magpie says:

I think he likes his women much younger and less accomplished.

  24. Diva says:

Is it actually shocking she might not be his type? Just cause she’s pretty doesn’t make her everybody type. It makes sense seems she wouldn’t be his type. Seth seems like he would date younger, more impressionable women (much like the Brian character)

  25. mkyarwood says:

She could be not his type because she’s too much to handle. Or she has never been into dudes. I mean, her relationship with Stu would have been a good cover.

  26. Kristine says:

American Dad was alright. Ted wasn’t funny. The oscars weren’t funny. My friends and I share dirtier senses of humor than this douche. Honestly, I don’t find him appealing and feel like he has lucked out being remotely famous let alone good enough to even eat dinner with these beautiful women. In short, he’s a troll imo.

  27. energydrink says:

Wow people…why is everybody laughing at this and taking it as such an obvious evident thing that OMG OMG CHARLIZE IS A GODDESS, how DARE he say SHE is out of HIS league, etc etc etc.

    NOT everybody’s type is a Charlize look-a-like.

Yes, she is blond, tall, leggy with light, delicate facial features which many might find attractive(mostly in the western world mind you).

However, she doesn’t really have hips/butt/big breasts/waist and has broad shoulders, bigger feet, bone structure, etc.

While MOST wouldn’t kick her out of bed for a night(it would really be a small percentage they would kick out anyhow so this doesn’t mean a lot)it doesn’t mean anything. Many men love brunettes, curvy women with amazing WHR and big butts, freckled women, redheads, chubby women, different ethnicities, etc which obviously you can’t fit all at once. YOU might consider someone a goddess but that is your opinion, not a fact, even if many people might share it.

Secondly, looks aren’t everything.. far from it. Haven’t you met many beautiful people who weren’t “your type” simply because they wanted different things in life than you, and you couldn’t relate to each other? There was no connection?

She is definitely not “out of his league”. He is very rich and successful as well, and if they aren’t dating there is a more valid reason.

    • Mira says:

Thanks for saying this, energydrink. I don’t understand why Charlize cannot be McFarlane’s type. Yes, she’s beautiful and comes across as a smart, independent, non-nonsense type of gal. That’s not necessarily everyone’s type though. People are treating this news as blasphemous. How on earth can douche McFarlance say Goddess Charlize is not his type? If anything he’s not her type. Come on, there’s more to what people like than just physical beauty and even if they go for physical beauty alone, the idea of what everyone considers beautiful is very subjective.

    • Lovie says:

      Thank you, thank you!!

  28. Sweet Dee says:

Obviously she’s not his type. Seth is the kind of guy who doesn’t want a strong woman. This has less to do with looks and more to do with his pride.

    His lady must:
    1. Be beautiful, young.
    2. Be less accomplished than he.
    3. Be less intelligent than he (can get away with more this way).
    4. Make less money than he.
    5. Be less famous than he.
    6. Be submissive or at least passive, never assertive.

    Ugh. Textbook douchewad.

  29. lucy2 says:

Glad it was just a business/friends thing. She can do much better, IMO.

  30. I Choose Me says:

I’m pretty neutral about Seth Mac Farlane. Love his voice but think his face is too boyish to be really good-looking and just based on what’s reported, his personality is a huge turn-off. But I find it interesting that so many find it hard to believe that Charlize is not his type. I believe it but maybe because I don’t have the same perception of Charlize that others do.

Is she beautiful? hell yeah. A fine actress? Yep again. Well spoken and seemingly intelligent? mostly. But she also strikes me as both pretentious and needy. I’ve been checking out a few interviews with her on Youtube and she always has to be the center of attention and make it about hers. She’s an aggressive flirt (which can be a turn-off for some guys) and she can sometimes be totally bitchy and lacking in tact. All this to say that Charlize is not the bees knees that some have her to be.

    • Me says:

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. The fact that people can’t see her flaws is incredible to me. She is not everyone’s type just because she is blonde and tall. That is NOT everyone’s type. Are tall blondes the only ones who can be everyone’s type? And if she’s everyone’s type then why hasn’t she had a steady man in ages? There is something off-putting about the ‘Goddess’ Charlize. As for McFarlane, he’s an unattractive ass and shouldn’t be anyone’s type.

    • Camille (TheOriginal) says:

Yes! To all of the above. And I find her a bit hit or miss in the acting department in all honesty.

  31. mimi says:

He’s joking obviously. Just like that guy from modern family made a joke out of the Charlize Theron rumors. It’s funny because let’s face it Charlize Theron is out of every guy’s league. I told yall this was just a business dinner for their movie. Charlize dates in more private places.

  32. moon says:

Fassbender was with Nicole Beharie at the time, and while he’s a notorious flirt, he seems like to sort to be decent and faithful while IN a relationship – so he couldn’t exactly ditch Nicole just because Charlize was hitting on him, it doesn’t look good. And he looks like he’s got too much pride and ideals to indulge in cheating. Wonder if he regrets it now though…

    • Lovie says:

I agree with almost everything you’re saying but maybe she just wasn’t in to her-taken or single. Why is that so hard to believe?

  33. NEENAZEE says:

    Oh puh-leeze… she’s everyone’s type, including mine.

But I don’t think it’s implausible that they’re just working together and friendly. Two smart, funny, successful people enjoying each other’s company.

  34. Nessa says:

If she is not his type, why does he look overjoyed to be photographed with her? He has this smug look on his face… That douchebag smile so everyone knows they are f*cking. She looks mortified (as she should!). But she is not his type. We are supposed to believe that.

  35. Grace says:

Of course she’s not his type. She doesn’t think he’s the most important thing on the planet like he does. She has a real life.

  36. Greenie says:

Of course she’s not his type. His “type” is men.

  37. scarlett says:

She is a beautiful woman no question but it’s not plausible to assume that she is every man’s type. One thing I noticed is she sometimes has a very masculine air about her and not just because of the short hair. She is very tall and kind of broad shouldered. That said, Seth has such a douchy air about him. I find the fact that he generally dates 20-something unknowns suspect. I don’t find him attractive in any way, shape or form and I don’t just mean physically.

  38. MisJes says:

Everyone here seems to get worked up instantly the second Seth Mcfarlane opens his mouth, but his statement that Charlize isn’t his type was just a joke. Relax.

In any case, it is quite possible that she really isn’t his type, simple. And there isn’t anything wrong with that. Some people have mentioned it’s because she is older with a child, and I tend to agree with that theory. If I dare to say so, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that either.

  39. chria says:

personally i love family guy and american dad. ted was also funny. imo everyone gets their turn with his jokes…race, religion, politics…all of it is included and he always takes a stab at everyone at some point. i love it because at some point we should all just learn to laugh at ourselves instead of being so sensitive. also a lot of men prefer dumb hot women…is it shallow? yes which is why he is single and likely will never marry, but at least he is honest about what he likes. he doesnt sugarcoat it and pretend to be something he’s not. so charlize is probably not his type bc she’s too smart for him and he’s not having that

  40. imp says:

Crazy thought but maybe she REALLY isn’t his type :O Seth is HILARIOUS and has a right to not be into someone. Perhaps it’s her style or personality and they just don’t click. I don’t understand why it’s being said it was definitely Seth who put that out. Especially when she is the one looking sour in the pics. I love them both, and I’m sure it’s more professional. Perhaps they fucked once, got it out of their systems and decided not to date. Also Charlize looks way different than Emilia or those others girls. Le sigh

  41. STOPGOOP says:

    Duh. He’s gay.

  42. anti-icon says:

Some of you need to get a sense of humor. Do you KNOW what jokes are?

  43. Meadowlark says:

I have it on good authority that Seth is indeed gay. Go ahead and don’t believe me, but I have a friend in LA who got invited to an Oscar Nom screening party this year; Seth was there, and my friend was introduced to Seth and his boyfriend. He’s apparently openly gay within the industry, but not publicly. Do with that info. what you will.

  44. Sara says:

lol, that’s because his type has to be 10-15 years younger insecure fame whores. Charlize probably makes his balls shrink. Some guys can’t deal with beautiful and successful.
