I am not impressed with Ricky Martin. It is easy to gain popularity dissing the President during a concert. See what it did for the Dixie Chicks? They may have won 5 grammies but their core audience dissed them off. Ricky took a cheap shot. Not what I call a class act.

  2. MaiGirl says:

Clearly, the Martin family has impressive DNA.

Good for Ricky. I don’t care if it was a cheap shot or not; it certainly isn’t like Bush is above taking cheap shots at opponents.

Unrelated question for fellow straight girls: If you find out a man whom you find attractive is gay, are you still attracted to him? I tend to still think that they are objectively attractive, but all personal attraction dies immediately. I am far from homophobic, but simply knowing that the feeling isn’t mutual usually ends it.

Not that I’m saying Ricky Marting is probably gay or anything, because I would never say something like that. Never. Ever.

  3. Lulu says:

Funny how Ricky Martin performed for Bush’s inaguration party in 2001.
However, I guess we are all entitled to change our mind everty once in a while….

  4. suki says:

I hope to God a lot more people than Ricky Martin have changed their minds. What a disater Bush has been for our country. There’s nothing wrong with saying it either.

  5. Toubrouk says:

Looks like it’s fashionable to bash Bush these last few months. Kinda make it look like a “Madonna on a cross” moment.

  6. KIM says:

oh my- I would love to be in the middle of that hottie sandwich- that has to be the one time I have seen a Speedo on a man and thought it was attractive. 🙂

  7. Jamie says:

Yeah, Ricky Martin is the one who needs to be flipping off the “American” President. That’s what is wrong with this country. We get all these new immigrants over here who have NO respect for our government or officials, but they sure want to live here. They leave their dictators to come over here and tell Americans what is wrong with their country and what they need to do to fix it. By golly, I bet he doesn’t want to leave and go back to live in his own country…bet he couldn’t get away with that in Cuba or wherever he is from. Absolutely sickening!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. DogRunner says:

Good point Jamie. His action reminds me of a spoiled brat (mind you I don’t care WHICH president he is flipping off). But he has the balls to come to this country make a shit load of money and desicrate our presidency.

I don’t agree with the actions of Bush either. But I don’t act like a juvenile and flip him off.

  9. WTF says:

Ricky is Puertorican for your information and he already had money before coming to this country. He’s been a child star for years people! Well known in the group Menudos. He’s recognized in countries like Spain, Venezuela, Paraguai, Colombia, Brazil, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Italy, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico and I can go on. We are all immigrants in this damn country. The indians were the ones who owned the land untill the white man came and started taking over shit like always claiming shit that’s not theirs. White people complain about blacks but they were the ones that brought them here as slaves and abused them. Puerto Rico is beautiful in every way. That’s why you white folks come over and suck the life out of it. We have the right to voice our opinions when we want to. There are so many immigrants, as you want to call them, that are fighting and dying for a country that give two fucks about them. My husband is one of them. I have two little ones and am always scared that I might not see him again. I wish you people would stop making this into something that it’s not. Bush is not a good president and that has nothing to do with having respect for this country. He has no respect by having us fight a war that’s all for greed and his father. I’m sure if Bush was in Puerto Rico doing the same thing Ricky would have flipped him off again.

  10. Ginny says:

I have issues with Bush and everything, but it seems like most people are taking the whole thing too far. The office of the President should still be respected, whether the man himself is or not. People seem to have forgotten that. It fashionable to be ridiculous about protesting him, it seems, and I think in the end they’re doing themselves harm by being so rude, unprofessional and outspoken about it. You can make yourself heard without being stupid about it. Plus, when the whole protest looses it’s honesty with people trying to win fans or follow the crowd, the seriousness of the actual issues against Bush is lost.

  11. DD says:

Well I don’t give two hoots about Bush – he’s as much of an idiot as our prime minister John Howard (who we all call Little Johnnie) – but Ricky Martin is still sooooooooo hot and I could sit and watch the clip for “She Bangs” all day!

  12. missy says:

you americans who trash everybody, who talks the truth about bush are retareded.he’s starting do get the oil money, but no one cares i hope some of u people truly be in a war, were children get raped and women, there are no rules when its war.its load of crap that people in irak dont get effected by the war there.
you kill your own sons in war.

  13. UrbanDK says:

Ricky is hot … speedos are good … Bush is bad

  14. Bex says:

Yummy though he may be.. speedos are still very, very bad.

  15. Michelle says:

Well said WTF. I agree with everything you said. And yes, Ricky was famous and had money before he went to the US but people think that if North Americans don’t know an artist then he’s a nobody, whatever! And Jamie just stick to what you know. You have no idea how things are done in Puerto Rico and I’m pretty sure that if he wanted to flip off the governor he could and people would probably agree with his sentiments. As for this incident, I was at his concert and I saw the gesture and I think that he just expressed what everyone is thinking so I say good for you Ricky! And DAMN is he hot.

  16. julie says:

Don’t forget that Ricky Martin has brought a LOT of money into the country. He’ll be in a ridiculous tax bracket and employ a LOT of American people so the “we’re doing immigrants a favour by letting them live here and they should be thankful” point is lame. He’s doing America a favour by paying his taxes and buying ridiculously expensive clothes, homes, etc.

  17. Chibarosa says:

Um…Puerto Rico has been a US commonwealth since 1911, so they are US citizens, not immigrants. They pay taxes, but cannot vote. He has every right to flip off the president if he wants, as do the rest of us who disagree with his condescending misguided policies.

I agree with Ricky, and in fact I flipped off Bush in 2004 when his motorcade passed by on the way to a campaign rally.

  18. vdantev says:

He’s still a big soft limp-wristed skirt-wearing pussy though. Too little too late.

  19. Jamie says:

My point is simply this: if you don’t like the way things are run and you have the crapload of money Mr. Martin has…leave…nobody is forcing you to stay in a place that you have the freewill and means to leave.
Bush is not going to be elected again for another term…he’s did his time as President. However, he is still our current President and deserves the respect of the office he was elected to.
And, Julie, just because he pays taxes does not make him a good US citizen. As a true, devoted citizen, if Ricky has an issue with the President’s choices/decisions, he needs to stop acting childish and DO something intelligent about it. It’s no wonder the youth in our country have no respect for authority, look at how the people in a “role model” position in this country behave. This man is looked up to by many young Americans I’m sure. Have you spent a little time with any young people in our country? Many of them have NO respect for anyone in an authoritative position. For children who have no role models at home, they look elsewhere. This man is an example of what they learn from. So, what is he teaching them? If you don’t like something someone does, flip them off, cuss them out, yell at them, tell them what all they are doing wrong, and DON’T show them any respect.
Sorry Julie, I guess I’m old fashioned…I prefer a peaceful and more intelligent means for handling issues…such as demonstrations or petitions…but that is just me.

  20. Izzy says:

Why do you place such importance on the Presidency and the President? You act like he should be praised on your hands and knees! The american people vote him in, he works for you, not the other way around. You are his boss. I just don’t get this absurd loyalty to someone who clearly screwed up.
In Canada, where I’m from, we can say whatever we want about our Prime Minister and there is no backlash, no death threats, we actually do have freedom of speech. Alot of our politicans and Prime Ministers go on fake news/comedy shows and act silly and it makes them human. Americans have forgotten that the President is HUMAN, not some golden idol. You have to get over this bowing down to the President and being afraid to exercise your freedom of speech. It’s something that is extremely important to a free democracy. For people that live outside of the US, it’s starting to look like a dictatorship there.

  21. debbles says:

In answer to Izzy — it IS a f**king dictatorship over there now — very much the simplistic theme that has been drummed into the sheeple-like brains of the masses — if you aren’t with us, you’re against us. Woe be to anyone with a BRAIN who wishes to rebuke the illegal and immoral actions of a brain-dead-dry-drunk president who illegally stole an election. And as to you brainwashed morons who say “if you don’t like it, get out” — that’s exactly what I did! I moved to Europe for a while and am now a very happy Australian citizen. So you can keep your tub-thumping-flag-waving hysteria which is LAUGHED at by the rest of the world. You are an ever-diminishing force in world politics (thank God!) and Ricky Martin or anyone else who feels negatively about the prez has the RIGHT to his feelings.

  22. atir says:

Ricky M is not doing us a favor by spending money on houses, etc. He got that money from the sale of his cd’s.
BOTTOM LINE; HE IS DESPERATE. HE IS NOT SO POPULAR IN THIS COUNTRY ANYMORE. SO HE’S FOLLOWING THE ACTIONS OF THE DIXIE CHICKS IN AN EFFORT TO GET SOME PUBLICITY. I DON’T MIND THAT HE DISAGREES WITH BUSH. BUT GIVING THE FINGER IS SO VERY CHILDISH AND IMMATURE. GROW UP RICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Athena says:

Wow, I can’t believe how many people didn’t realize Puerto Rico was a Commonwealth of the US. DUH! Some folks need to open a book, for real!

As to Ricky and the Prez, don’t care. Just like to read comments.
