Lea Michele covers Marie Claire Mexico: Cory ‘is the best person I know’

Lea Michele covers Marie Claire Mexico’s August issue. She looks pretty kick-ass with smokey eyes and a tailored, wide v-neck blazer paired with black undies and not much else. I love this look for her and would like to see more of the pictorial. Sadly, this was one of the last, if not the last, interviews that Lea gave before her boyfriend Cory Monteith’s death from an overdose less than two weeks ago. Cory accompanied Lea to the photoshoot on June 7 and she sung his praises in the interview. It’s hard to read her thoughts about Cory in light of his untimely death. Lea really adored him.

The editor of Marie Claire Mexico gave a statement to the press and expressed her condolences to Lea. She said that both Lea and Cory were upbeat, friendly and nice during the shoot and that everyone is sad for Lea’s loss.

Marie Claire Mexico and Latin America Editor-in-Chief Ariadne Grant said, “Lea Michele arrived early with her beauty team and her agent and was always professional, dedicated and her experience was obvious on the photo shoot but showed another side of her personality, softer and more innocent, on the interview when she got all excited with some questions, she said she loved Mexico so much. That side was even more evident when Cory showed up almost at the end of the session, she was very happy about him being there.”

Grant added, “Cory showed up in great spirits and was very nice to everybody there; he even took pictures with whoever asked for it. He just asked for a Coke and stayed there watching the shooting until it was done. They were both very nice and obviously happy and in love, we are very disrupted by the unfortunate and untimely events. Our thoughts are with Lea.”

During her interview for the magazine, Lea Michele touched on her relationship with Monteith, saying, “It’s more interesting having a relationship with someone you work with because we get more attention because we play boyfriend and girlfriend on the show and we are also in real life. But he is the best person I know, he has made my life so incredible and I am so thankful for him and not only to have him as a partner but also as a coworker.”

The young actress continued to say that in a relationship, “It is important to have someone that supports you and encourage you, someone that makes you feel that you are unstoppable, that you can do anything in the world because you have him.”

Lea’s quotes about Cory break my heart a little. She sounds sincere and like she was so enamored of Cory. She knew what she had in her relationship and she appreciated it. Sometimes people don’t realize that until it’s too late.

Lea tweeted this photo of her lunch that day, joking that her boyfriend was eating pizza while she was having tofu.

    . . . Life sucks, sometimes.
Thoughts to Lea and Cory’s family. I can’t begin to imagine what they must be going through right now.

  2. Kiki says:

Hey Celebitchy… Would you like me to get this so you can look at the pictorial?

  3. Amelia says:

Yeah, that’s sad. Not a Glee fan but i do pity her having to deal with filming his character’s death and basically getting on with her life when everyone – fans, tabloids, gossip sites etc will be reminding her of him. I hope she is a strong person.

  4. Kizzy says:

He was such a beautiful boy (man) … So sad.

    • John Wayne Lives says:

He was so beautiful. This is heartbreaking. This struck me so hard. From the beginning I’ve just loved him, in part because he looks so much like my first husband who passed away in a boating accident.. strange 🙁

  5. Esmom says:

The quotes are heartbreaking, and along with the photos you can see she was just head over heels for Cory. I like how the magazine editor said she softened when talking about him and seeing him.

She clearly saw the best parts of him, which feels especially poignant as so many people seem to now want to define him by his addiction. So tragic.

  6. Anna says:

Am I the only one who feels that the all-black cover is kind of exploitative? Like, ‘the mourning issue’? In any other context it would be very sleek and unusual but now…

    • Mimi says:

I agree… I’m also not sure how appropriate “The show must go on” is on the cover. Makes it seems as if she posed after his death, because of course the show must go on.

      • Meaghan says:

I can’t speak a word of spanish, so I have no idea thats what the cover said!

    • Bijlee says:

Nope. The issue apparently made it sound like they got the first scoop too. You would think they would scrap this all together or show some decency and make it low key. People would have bought it regardless.

    • Vesta says:

I feel too that it’s exploitative and a bit much. It’s the August number so I doubt black was the original choice.

But I really feel for her. They seemed truly happy with each other.

      • Anna says:

Ironically, MarieClaire would probably never go for such a dramatic cover otherwise – and it might be on the of the best ones I have seen in forever, on any magazine. Such a bold visual.

  7. Deidre says:

Then she needs to communicate with other like minded talented people who can manage not to foolishly dare-party with their lives in danger only to find death and avoid hanging out of that illegal crowd that supplies their party favors..

  8. spiderkitty says:

She becomes much more beautiful standing next to him. Like, you can forget about her annoying personality when she is next to him.

  9. Shy says:

Bless her that she is able to eat such a healthy dish, I wish I could but just looking at it, makes me feel like iam going to choke on it. I need dipping sauce to eat all that dry food. I like my food wet and fatty.

    • Annie says:

I like eating healthy but that looks like rabbit food. Sometimes I’m in the mood for salad, and I prefer veggies over meat most of the times. Salads can be delicious. Other times I’m happy with pizza and hotdogs and hamburgers. And cake!

I just could never pressure myself to only eat what she’s eating. That’s like… Fear of eating or gaining weight. Food is such a pleasure, and such an easy pleasure, I could never just stay with a craving and not have whatever I feel like having. Like what she’s eating is just an entre to me.

  10. Happy21 says:

Ugh! My heart is still breaking over this and for her. I’d love to just give her a big hug!

  11. tealily says:

Am I the only one thrown by the “my boyfriend’s eating pizza” thing? What?

    • Annie says:

Probably lamenting to hersef that rules are different for men, body wise. Nobody would’ve noticed if Corey had packed 10 lbs, but forget about it if Lea ever did.

I feel bad for the actresses who think they need to do this. I would never follow that norm. I’d stay healthy and 100% me, like others have. Very successful women out there are not skinny. Jlo, Sofia Vergara, Kate Winslet. You CAN look good and not be skinny.

  12. eliza says:

    This is beyond heartbreaking.

  13. Tig says:

They were a cute couple. It’s hard to fake that level of smitten-ness. I echo the thoughts re a hug- this will take her a long time to get over.
