I love to see Monique Lhuillier dresses on the red carpet. They’re risk-taking yet usually flattering (with some misses). That’s why it pains me to see Anna Faris in this otherwise gorgeous Lhuillier gown. It’s just the wrong color for her and washes her out. Plus, her makeup is poorly done. In a darker color, with more flattering makeup, this dress would have been stunning.
Malin Akerman wore pale blue tulle Marchesa which somehow worked. The dress is Marchesa yet it’s not completely fug (see: Kerry Washington), Malin’s styling is spot on, and I love her jewelry. Have you seen Malin’s new show on ABC, Trophy Wife? There are a lot of decent actors in it, including Marcia Gay Harden and Bradley Whitford, but it was too dumb for me to enjoy. I only saw the pilot though, maybe it gets better.
Laura Dern was in pink Naeem Khan. This dress is very pretty and flattering on her. I love the detail in the embroidery work especially. Dern was nominated for lead actress in a comedy, for Enlightened, which went to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep. (Dern won the Globe for that role last year.) I watched Enlightened up until this season. It’s a decent show it just got uncomfortable for me. You don’t know whether to root for Dern’s character or hope she comes to her senses.
Taylor Schilling of Orange is the New Black was in simple white Thakoon with some awesome gold jewelry. She looks great but I didn’t recognize her at all! If you subscribe to Netflix streaming and haven’t yet seen Orange is the New Black you should give it a chance. It’s a dramedy set in a women’s prison and is created by Jenji Kohan, the creator of Weeds.
Schilling was actually in Argo, she played Ben Affleck’s wife, but her role got cut substantially. She told E! that she was disappointed but that Jennifer Garner helped her get over it.

That is absolutely a wig. She had a baby a few months (or maybe a year?) ago, so maybe she had some hair loss. I know I did after my son was born.
I love Anna and I LOVE this dress but not together, especially the hair from the female drummer on the Muppets. Laura Dern disappoints in a huge way. I can’t even stress that enough. The white dress on Taylor looks great.
Ha! Muppet female drummer hair… So true! Or it’s the wig that comes in every cheap princess Halloween costume. Her hair is all sorts of AWFUL it distracts from her face and her dress — definitely worst hair of the night.

I agree on Anna’s dress. I love it – especially in yellow – but it does wash her out. Plus, her makeup is bad and I can’t stand the heavy blonde bangs.

I actually gasped when I saw Anna. Her hair it too bleached, her bangs too thick and though the dress was a gorgeous cut, it was all wrong for her. Also, half the night her lipstick was smeared so she ended up looking like a drunken mess. Taylor did good. The lipstick is a bit dark and the yellow sandles a bit off but she worked the carpet.
Last picture of Anna is so absolutely unflattering. And somehow she just manages to look so much like Brittany Murphy!

I love Anna Farris, and I love the dress but together it is not good! Her coloring doesn’t work with the dress.
Why do dark-haired women insist on going blonde? Even with the best hairdresser, you’re still going to have a fake, brassy color. Anna needs to go back to her natural haircolor (or something closer like a darker blonde if she insists on going blonde) – it would look so much better on her.

Taylor looked so pretty! And I loved OITNB, I can’t wait for season 2. I loved Anna’s dress. I think it’s her hair that washes her out. If she had a more gold shade of hair and better make up she really would have pulled it off I think.

Laura Dern looks so ugly to me (in general) that when I see photos of her it startles me a little. I know that’s terrible, but got that woman is ugly. How she ever became a star in today’s looks-driven entertainment industry is beyond me.
Anna Faris’s dress is pretty, but I don’t think it is quite the right color for her. Her hair color is the issue, I think.

My husband and I love Anna. She’s so funny. But seriously did you see her interview with E? It was horrible to watch. She could barely move her mouth and it was awkward. Either the fillers/botox or she was medicated. I miss the old Anna….. 🙁
I hate whatever Anna Faris did to her face, lips especially. That hair is tragic- not just the horrible color, but the bad bangs and the bad style. Yikes.
The dress is lovely and I understand why she wanted to wear it, but it clashed horribly with her hair and skin tone.
Michelle Williams in that gorgeous yellow Vera Wang at the Oscars convinced blondes that they could wear yellow to stunning effect, but it has to be the RIGHT yellow and the right blonde, otherwise you get Anna Faris.

I think anna dress looks excatly the same as angelina jolie famous yellow dress.
Jolie has the coloring to carry that dress off; Faris doesn’t. Yellow looks very good on women with dark hair.
