Jessica Hart tries to backtrack on her Taylor Swift shade: ‘I adore Taylor Swift’

Although some of you were trying to defend model Jessica Hart yesterday, it was pretty clear to me that Jessica was in fact shading Taylor Swift after Taylor performed at the Victoria’s Secret runway show last week. Jessica was asked some variation of “Do you think Taylor Swift would have made a good Victoria’s Secret model?” and Jessica said definitively that Swifty would NOT “fit” with the VS look. It was a bitchy and unnecessary shade for Swifty. A VS executive came out and spoke to Us Weekly, basically saying that Jessica never said that and even if she did, she didn’t mean it and by the way, Taylor Swift is a goddess on earth, etc. I can only imagine that the same executive got on the phone to Jessica Hart and told her she needed to call up every media outlet and correct herself:

Maybe this she could write a song about it? It seems the supposed feud between Taylor Swift and Victoria’s Secret model Jessica Hart was all a misunderstanding.

Hart spoke with Us Weekly exclusively about the surprising comments she made to WWD about Swift’s cameo on the runway at last week’s big Victoria’s Secret show: “I adore Taylor Swift, and I was so excited to be with her at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. What Taylor does on stage is nothing compared to what we do,” Hart tells Us. “I could never get up there and do what she does! She is a true rock star and she absolutely killed it the other night. Her song ‘Pieces’ was one of my favorite songs, and I own her first ever CD. I can’t imagine why I would have said anything bad about her.”

It all began when Hart told WWD that the Grammy winner wouldn’t make a good lingerie model and “didn’t fit” at the famed fashion show. “I think what you find is that for a lot of us, we’ve been working for 14, 15 years; what it takes to make it here comes from experience and confidence and knowing how to be confident with yourself,” Hart explained. “I think it comes with age. It’s definitely the benchmark of all jobs.”

Swift never responded, but the brand’s chief marketing officer, Edward Razek, told Us that the comments were misinterpreted.

“I can tell you that everyone at Victoria’s Secret was blown away by Taylor’s performance,” he said. “She could not be more beautiful or talented, that we felt extremely lucky to have her, and that she is welcome back to do the show anytime she wants.”

[From Us Weekly]

If you’re really looking for it, you can still find some subtle shade in Jessica’s new statement. “What Taylor does on stage is nothing compared to what we do…” Meaning, “make no mistake, she is NOT a model and no one would ever mistake her for one because she doesn’t FIT.” Or maybe I’m just looking for controversy. Anyway, I hope that Swifty ignored this crap, but you never know with her – she’s probably writing a song right now called “The Cruelest Hart”. Or “Heart to Hart”. Or “The Bitch Named Hart”.

Oh for the love of God, if you have balls to shade then stand by it. So tired of people opening their mouths only to backtrack when the heat turns up on them. Either STFU or own your words. Pretty simple.

  2. TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

She should stick to her guns and not be intimidated by this overrated contrived juvenile pop princess; No wonder much of the millennial gen is lame – if this girl actually thinks Swifty is a “rock star” she is utterly deluded as are many of her generation. Enough books have been written of how real rock stars of the 60s/70s, especially, behaved, lived, and performed, and it’s nothing like milk toast swifty and her plush ponies. Noooo, Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Michael Hutchence ,etc. were rock stars and could sing live without gimmicks and party little swifty right off the stage and back to her playroom. Terms like “rock star” and “edgy” are used so promiscuously as to be meaningless – just like these world’s sexiest titles from another post.

    • gg says:

I agree she’s not much of a rock star but you don’t have to die of drugs and sex related accidents to be a rock star. You’ll need a better argument.

  3. Lindy79 says:

Swifts right arm looks amazingly fluffy in that picture.

  4. CaTX says:

Jessica seems to need some PR lessons. Even if you think Swifty would never make it, just say “Yes, she would be amazing, I’m such a fan of hers!” and move onto the next question.

  5. BreeinSEA says:

Too late girl! I agree, admit to your words. If you have nothing nice to say… I realise the irony as I’m posting this here 😉

  6. ANDREA1 says:

I don’t want to sound mean or something but how come this gal is a model she don’t have the looks at all no wonder she is still unknown at 28.

    • cs says:

I said the same thing yesterday.. She’s 27 or 28 and no one heard of her before. Which is one foot in the grave in modeling as 40 years old is for women in acting.
You knew it was coming, just like Lorde back tracked her words and was seen lunching with Taylor in NYC. Tay Tay is just Powerful these days. New York Magazine is releasing a Cover story how Taylor Swift is the most powerful Pop Star in the world. She’s outselling the other girls in concert tix and albums.

      • cs says:

Let me add .. Taylor sold out some Australian stadium (55K) that no other woman has played or sold out since Madonna 20 years ago.

    • MrsB says:

+1. That gap in her teeth really bothers me.

    • Eleonor says:

Actually I think Taylor Swift is better looking than her.

  7. Grace says:

The hair on Swifty’s arms is quite long, isn’t it? So Taylor Hairy Swift?

    • scylla says:

Something new to shade a woman and make her feel insecure…. hair on her arm… OMG alarm the beauty police!

      • Sarah says:

It’s fact. She is hairy. The same as saying she is a tall girl. It’s you who associated stating such a fact with shading.

    • mj says:

Stop it. Come on. She’s a mammal. We’re mammals. We naturally have hair on our bodies.

      • LeLe25 says:

I’m glad she has hair on her arms and doesn’t shave them. This arm hair thing is just another BS chore assigned to women, who knows why. Men are allowed to have hair on their bodies and so are women. I swear the world just wants to turn us into real life plastic dolls.

    • IzzyB says:

I have dark hair on my arms. I considered waxing but pulling a plaster off my elbow was more than enough pain for me.

Screw it, I’ve got hairy arms. But my legs go on for miles and I shave those every day 😀

  8. phlyfiremama says:

Sounds like a case of “Harpo, who dis woman?” to me. I’m sure she does by now but it wouldn’t surprise me if Taylor had never even heard of this woman until she was thrown under the bus by her. Can you say “attention ho-ing 101” tactic?

  9. minime says:

Oh please, can we just stop talking about this VS chick, who greatest achievement in life is to look good in lingerie (and in my opinion only when we are not looking at her face, or at least she has her mouth close…those teeth…)
Maybe Swift just paid her to say that crap, because I’m sure that never before people cared in such a positive way or defended Swift so much (maybe when she was Kanyed).

  10. j says:

“Pieces?” I’m not a huge TS fan, but I do like some of her music, and that song doesn’t sound familiar at all. Just looked at her entire discography and there is no song named “Pieces” unless I’m missing something. Lol.

  11. TG says:

That nasty gap in her teeth. Yuck. I am American and I do not apoligize for my teeth fetish.

    • IzzyB says:

I completely get it. I’m 23 and paying for braces because I have gaps and a couple of twisted teeth.

My friend told me they weren’t a big deal and I felt like an awful person because I wanted to take her with me. She’s lovely but gap teeth aren’t healthy, and I can’t understand how they’re “sexy.”

  12. Katy says:

I caught that line too – “What Taylor does is nothing compared to what we do.” I’m not sure if she said it incorrectly, meaning what they do is nothing compared to what Taylor does, but that’s kind of a dumb mistake to make when you’re trying to backpedal so hard.

  13. T.C. says:

I am not a fan of Taylor at all but the girl looks prettier and has a hotter body than any VS model. Check out Taylor’s long SHAPELY legs with muscle definition while still being slim. The VS girls have just plain ugly stick legs, not sexy at all. Taylor’s upper body is slim with small breast but she has an hour glass shape. That is sexy. Taylor Swift is 23 years olds making $50 Million a year on her voice with no need to show off her boobs. This Jessica Hart chick maybe makes $1 Million a year only due to showing off her boobs and ass. Bitch is jealous .

    • KC says:

Taylor Swift is flat as a board, front and back. Not sexy at all. It is however the kind of shape designers like on their models i.e. no curves to distract from the clothes, so I guess theres that. Either way the VS model was out of line.

      • T.C. says:

You don’t have to have big boobs and a big ass to be shapely or have an hour glass figure. That’s a myth. It’s a waist to hip ratio. If your waist is a certain percentage smaller than your upper body and hip area you get an hour glass figure which Swifty has. Look up pics of skinny women with hour glass figures. It’s there. Swifty’s legs are slim but girl has muscle tone. A woman’s body shape can be beautiful whether she is slim, plus sized or inbetween.

      • KC says:

I repeat, flatter than my breakfast pancakes and utterly unsexy. You are ofcourse welcome to you opinion (and I, mine)

  14. A says:

WHY would TS a extremely successful singer want to be a VS model???? Running around in underwear- MMM life goal creating music vs walk down a runway in underwear?

  15. Jackson says:

The song she writes should be titled: “You’re only a model because you’re tall.”

  16. dahlianoir says:

Call me when one VS model does something except starving herself and strutting naked. Team Taylor and I don’t even listen to her music.

  17. Tails says:

Like someone else mentioned above, Taylor doesn’t even have a song called “Pieces”. -__- Plus that “What Taylor does on stage is nothing compared to what we do” comment. Nice try Gappy. It’s not that hard to learn how to strut down a runway.

  18. emmie_a says:

Jessica needs some PR training. In her original statement, the ‘God Bless her’ part was totally condescending, as is now the part when she claims what Taylor does is ‘nothing’ compared to what she does.
And the night of the fashion show, Taylor was part of the VS brand. She was part of the product. For Jessica to tell the media that she thought Taylor was inferior was sort of dissing VS. Most people would get fired if they openly dissed their company’s product.

  19. dcypher1 says:

I think she said all that shade on purpose. Cus before no one ever heard of Jessica hart before and now we have. She just wants to get her name out there. She used swiftly for that purpose and only that purpose.

  20. kim says:

Ya it’s a shade, buts it’s truth too. Taylor is a singer song writer not a model so why bug?

I like that Taylor is loppy when she dances !!! It’s funny to me and that’s ok.

  21. Vera says:

This Jessica person needs to sit down and shut up for reals.

  22. Caroline says:

    What the hell is “Pieces”?????
Taylor Swift never made a track with said title.
    What an idiot.

  23. didthesame says:

Her job requires no skills or talent.get over itself girl

  24. Andrea says:

    Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn hairy ass arms

  25. SuSu says:

just because Taylor is pretty doesn´t mean she can be a model. I think some of you confuse looks with model qualities.
