Are Brad Pitt & Angelina going to ‘Jaden Smith’ their son Maddox into the industry?

AES-114726

Back in 2011, there were some (mostly tabloid) rumors that Brad Pitt was planning to “Jaden Smith” his son Maddox into the film industry. Brad and Angelina seem to follow the same tried-and-true celebrity-parent rule for their young children: they let their kids have smaller parts in their films, just to see what it’s like. Shiloh has already made her film debut when she was just a baby, and Vivienne has a part in her mom’s Maleficent. Maddox too had a cameo in World War Z. But is Maddox going to go Full Jaden? That’s the newly resurrected rumor, that Brad is going to produce an adaptation of the graphic novel Battling Boy and he wants Maddox to star:

It could be time for Maddox Jolie-Pitt to come in for his close-up. Sources tell RadarOnline.com the 13-year-old son of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has slowly morphed into a strong candidate to play Battling Boy, a Paul Pope-created character whose exploits could be headed to the silver screen.

“Maddox would be amazing in the part, but Brad is wary of going ‘all Will Smith with his kids,’” an insider told Radar.

“This could be a special case though, because Brad got involved in the project so early that his influence – and Maddox’s — are really felt across the board on this thing. There are panels that even use some signature Maddox facial expressions!”

49-year-old Pitt’s company Plan B bought the rights to the character.

While insiders close to the Hollywood royalty denied Maddox’s involvement in the project back in 2011, they said that because of Maddox’s physical transformation — and the showbiz success of Will Smith’s kids — the idea is sitting better with Brangelina these days.

“This is the next movie Brad wants to produce and he even has financing lined up from his deal with India’s Reliance to make this thing,” the insider said, noting that “Maddox could be playing the part within 10 months or less.”

Jolie adopted Maddox (his birth name was Rath Vibol) from Cambodia in 2002. Battling Boy was originally a graphic novel that was optioned by Paramount Pictures.

[From Radar]

Maybe this is just my reaction to the sight of Maddox looking amazing in his little tuxedo, but I guess I could see this happening. He’s not a baby anymore. He’s a tween, soon to be a teen. Maybe it will happen. Do you think Brad is more into it than Angelina? I want to know what Angelina thinks before I weigh in!

Success of the Smith kids ? What?

  2. Alexandra says:

Golly she looks so thin – but beautiful; I love this family – they seem like they actually care about each other. Nothing wrong with letting the kids follow in their footsteps if that’s what they all want – as long as they are happy.

    • V4Real says:

Watch it ! You must have missed yesterday’s post. You will be called a hater or an Anniston lover if you call Angie too thin.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with putting Maddy in the business. He’s old enough to know if he wants to give it a try. I also don’t think they would force it on him . I think the Smith’s pushed their kids into it, that’s why Willow wasn’t happy and wanted out.

      • blue marie says:

You stepped in it yesterday. I looked at it again this morning and the level of crazy never lowered.

      • Kim1 says:

The story from Star Magazine aka Radar is BS.Idiots took lazy to google his age.He is not 13.

      • V4Real says:

@Blue Marie yep that was insane.

      • KC says:

        V4Real

Wow! Just seen yesterdays pile on, you aint kidding! Somebody needs to explain to me why people get so worked up on the Jolie/Aniston pieces. You dont know this people. You will never know this people. So why cant we all just get along?

I am definitely not a fan of celebrity nepotism, I dont care how small the role is either. Nobody should get to cut the queue on account of mummy and daddy, dont care if daddy is a stockbroker or Brad Pitt. If Mad wants to act, let him join the thousands of talented kids on the audition circuit without the damn clout. Sorry.

Why does poor Melissa Mcarthy get dragged into the middle of this every time? Is she the only chunky lady available?

      • Kate says:

wanna see crazy go on the IMBD board, smh

    • Gossy says:

      http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2007/02/27/va1237235801168/Angelina-Jolie-The-Australian-5401266.jpg

Here’s a pic of her back in 2005, with her thin limbs on display.

Anyway the reason some fans get riled up over these thin comments is that it’s on EVERY single thread about Angelina, and it’s completely unnecessary on a thread about her humanitarian award. Perhaps if Kaiser had posted a picture of her looking super thin, that’s fine, but in the pics Kaiser posted, she looks like a normal thin woman.

I mean, people lose their minds if someone calls Melissa Mccarthy “fat” or says “her arms look like sausage rolls in that dress” but apparently it’s super okay to say “god she’s so thin…..”

      • Toot says:

Exactly! Agree with everything you said.

      • ANDREA1 says:

@Gossy I agree with you completely but one thing I have come to realise is that they know the weight issue riles up the jp fans So they bring it on every single time there is a thread on AJ and at this point its the only thing they really have to hit her with but as a JP fan I have learnt to just ignore it because even with picture evidence and links people normally post to back up their claims of her always being this slim people still won’t let it go they bring it up again and again.

      • booger says:

Guys, I don’t want to encourage body shaming and such, but some of the posting double standards here are way too much. This is Celebitchy, for crying out loud. To be fine with criticizing how some celebrities look, and then throw a gasket when people express concern that AJ is too thin is ridiculous. Yes, she’s a humanitarian, but for all we know, the other celebrities on this site whose appearances are criticized on a daily basis could be just as committed to helping others. Maybe their humanitarian efforts just aren’t known, or publicized as much?

Honestly, enough with the “AJ is untouchable, anyone concerned with her appearance is a hater or JenHen” BS. I’m not joking when I say the thread about her winning the humanitarian award is pure insanity. I hope some of you defenders realize AJ would likely be terrified of you!

      • V4Real says:

Oh Jeez here we go again but the flood gate is already open. The post yesterday was about her award but it also asked us how did she look so we answered the question.

You said we talk about her being thin on every single thread about her. Ok, and we talk about how insufferable Paltrow is on every single thread about her but I don’t see people running to Gwyn’s defense. Most of us also criticize the way Gwyn looks and no one gives a damn but Angie is supposed to be exempt. There’s a difference in a fan and a fanatic. I’ll admit I’m obsessed with RDJ but im not going to go bat shit crazy on people every time they say a bad word about him or constantly bring up his drug past.

      • Kim1 says:

I’m bothered by the double standards as well.Imagine if someone posted “Melissa needs to lose 100 lbs she used to be thinner, Ive seen pics of her X years ago and she wasn’t that fat”.
Also I wished would people would stop using words like pale and pasty as a negative thing examples when describing Tillda. They would never say Viola, Lupita, etc is Too Dark .Tilda is naturally fair skinned .

      • blue marie says:

It is nothing new to call a big girl a fatty, or a thin girl skinny. It’s not a double standard considering both still happen. Go look at the threads, both sizes are called out and they shouldn’t be but stop acting like one is done more than the other. As for the “pale and pasty” bit, I’m considered extremely pale and pasty and have no problem being labeled either. I work hard to keep my skin fair and have no problems when people comment on it, but that’s just me.

      • Maria says:

        @Kim

While I won’t disagree with you on the double standard of thin vs big, using colorism as a comparison is not a fair thing to do, period.

Given that paleness wasn’t frowned upon or thought to be a negative characteristic up until about a decade ago (if that) whereas WoC who aren’t light complected rarely get representation, just no. No one comments on Viola or Lupita because their success is a rarity in an industry that highlights whiteness. To even suggest that people never comment on how dark they are makes my side eye twitchy.

Women are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. I read the thread yesterday and just opted out because of all the foolery; I also checked out a few other threads where folks were talking about Eva Longoria being basic and a few other actresses—when it comes to Angie there IS a double standard on this board.

I adore her humanitarian work, think she is exquisite to look at, and am in awe of how the inside matches the out in terms of beauty—folks can still comment on her frame provided they’re not calling her names or being downright nasty (the bobble head comment made my side eye go into full effect ).

        /my .02

      • Gossy says:

        @bluemarie

But it’s not equal. People think its okay to say rude comments about thin people but unacceptable about fat. For example, comments like “her arms look like toothpicks” or “I see so much of her collarbone” go by without any outcry but on any overweight actress’ thread if someone comments “she looks 9 months pregnant” or “she must be eating for FIVE people” you’ll instantly get a flurry of response attacking the commentator and saying things like “She’s hilarious and funny and I think beautiful. You’re just a nasty person.”

      • blue marie says:

@ Gossy.. It is equal you just don’t see it. It’s not a contest between the body types because its flat out wrong TO ALL body types.

      • Janet says:

@blue marie: apples and oranges. No very pale white person has ever faced a tiny fraction of the discrimination that dark-skinned black people face every day of their lives.

As for the weight issue, although I’ve had many snide comments directed at me for being thin, I still recognize that a lot of it is due to jealousy. No thin person faces the amount of opprobrium that is directed at obese people without a second thought. A lot of overweight people wish they were thin but I’ve never heard a single underweight person wish they were fat.

      • blue marie says:

@ janet.. I wasn’t comparing as I have no idea what it’s like to be a person of color. I was simply answering what it’s like for me as a pale person to Kim.

      • jj says:

I agree with the double standard on this board. With certain celebs it’s almost encouraged to spit venom, but others are treated like they have reached sainthood.

      • cs says:

        @Gossy
It true.. They come over here from FF spewing hateful comments. She’s so skinny, she’s looks unhealthy, she on drugs,, She doesn’t look the same when she was 23 year old as Lara Croft. First, what sane person would compare a woman damn near 40 years to what she looked like at 23 years old. So right there tells you you’re dealing with a Looney. Secondly, comparing shade towards GOOP the same as Angie. People shade GOOP for what she says in interviews and her actions . No one would say anything about GOOP other than she’s an attractive tall blonde if it wasn’t for her privileged interviews.

        @Vreal
The disguised patty Ann from IAN undercover. I hated her since her Treyvon Martin trial comments. Remember this is the same person who believed an unarmed 17 year old deserved his death.

      • jj says:

        @CS

Have you ever thought about the possibility people saying Jolie is thin and looking worrying, because she IS definitely very thin.

Sometimes I think crazy fans actually almost encourage and enable celebs in their unhealthy life style because none of their so called fans actually has the levelheadedness to speak up.

      • Kim1 says:

LOL at fake concern for AJ’s health particularly by people who have stated they don’t like her, don’t trust her, think she is fake, ugly, evil etc.If you haven’t made these comments than obviously Im not referring to you.

  3. blue marie says:

Meh, I think they’ll let Maddox acts if he wants to, I can’t see either one of them forcing him to do it. How cool is Rath as a name though? (never knew that was his birth name)

  4. Liv says:

Somehow I think he would handle it better than the Smith kids.

  5. Lark says:

Hm. Radar? Didn’t People deny this too? I don’t know….I could see Brad giving Maddox cameos or supporting roles (like he did with World War Z), but I have a hard time seeing Brad put Maddox in some starring role right off the bat.

  6. Patricia says:

I think if they did have him act it would be for his own self expression and fulfillment, whereas the Smiths’ focus seems to be on fame and notoriety and money.

  7. Viva says:

I know he’s a kid but wow – that look on his face aint sweet.

  8. ANDREA1 says:

I hope this isn’t true even as a brange fan I don’t want their kids acting would love for them to grow up and choose what they want to do with their lives.
On another note I just want to urge all the extra sensitive fans to stop defending Aj wen she is attacked AJ wouldn’t want that instead ignore it and let it go. No one is perfect. Thanks.

    • Toot says:

Agree, but I have an issue with the free flowing insults/comments at thin/skinny women, but don’t you dare say anything about someone with extra weight.

I’m a skinny chick so that’s where I’m coming from.

      • Viv says:

Me, too! I was always naturally thin, and I had to hear it all the time. And it was nothing for people to say it. And it’s something that can’t necessarily be helped.

Now, having gained a little more weight, lol, I wish someone would call me skinny, but when you’re there, it seems like an insult.

      • Janet says:

Did you have to go through the whole “When were you a POW” thing? I did, well into my twenties. People either have no idea how incredibly rude they are or they simply do not give a damn.

      • Kate says:

        Toot,
I’m a curvy girl and agree with you. I will call my more big bone sisters out for also using the term “real woman” or saying this person needs a hamburger. I would say to them, you know you’ll be salty if someone told your big a** you need to put that hamburger down. works both ways.

      • Kortnee says:

I’m not even skinny AT ALL, but I am so fed up with fat chicks who want to hate on thin women. To me, it just shows their own self-hatred and low self esteem.

      • Janet says:

@Kate: I went into a dress store in uptown Manhattan that had “REAL clothes for REAL women” plastered in big letters on the window. It turned out the smallest size they carried was a 10. I was like, WTF? Women like me who wear a single-digit size aren’t “unreal” women; we’re as real as anybody else.

      • Toot says:

        @Janet

I’m black so people would actually ask me if I was from Ethiopia, like one of the starving people. No lie. People just are rude and don’t give a damn.

    • Camille (TheOriginal) says:

ANDREA1 – great comment, I agree with everything you said.

A LOT of crazy on that thread yesterday- from BOTH sides.

  9. Lol says:

does anyone stops to think it’s not always the parents forcing the kids to act, but sometimes it’s the kids who want to act like their parents? For the longest time, even when I graduated High School I wanted to work in medicine, like my Dad. I spent most of my time reading about it, spent summer vacations interning etc. It’s not always parental pressure.

    • The Original G says:

But you didn’t actually operate on people, right?

    • Esmom says:

Exactly what I was thinking. Maddox sees what his parents do and has an insider’s view of the industry. It seems natural he’d want to give it a try himself. I get the feeling his parents will support him and all their kids in whatever they want, including acting and film.

      • Rhea says:

Yup. Also, I just don’t see either of them as the type that would use their connection to give their kids the main role in a movie without an audition. Unless it’s just a tiny-blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-type of role.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

What I think they’d do is have him take acting classes, and do school plays–at least that’s what I’d do if it was my kid.

      • Tulip Garden says:

        Virgilia,
Your idea sounds excellent and if they want to encourage his acting that would be the sensible way to go. I hope that this story is bull though.

  10. Toot says:

I don’t think it’ll happen, especially not a lead role at his age.

  11. M.A.F. says:

I could have sworn I have read an interview that one of them gave where they do mention that if any of their children were to follow in their path it would be the eldest but not necessarily acting.

  12. Tiffany says:

Since we know that Brad and Angie can keep things on lockdown, I am not going to believe this one unless he is starting in a movie and promoting it.

  13. mar says:

I have a lot of faith in their parenting, so hopefully this will turn out good. Angie looks gorgeous but a little tweaked

  14. TG says:

I was hoping Angelina’s kids would to intelligent things from being inspired by their morher’s good works. That kid is not attractive in the least right now either though you don’t necessarily need good looks to act.

  15. janie says:

I don’t see them going the way of Jaden Smith, look how well that turned out? These parents actually care about their kids & don’t let them “decide” what they want. I’m sure they’re all in school & not showing up at the opening of an envelope!

  16. lower-case deb says:

Maddox looks like a cross between Jackie Chan and Joe Taslim!

anyway, as i’ve said before, he looks very well put together, and seems like a good big brother to his siblings. i think both Brad and AJ will have a hard time pushing their children into anything they don’t want to though. but if Maddox himself wants to be an actor/insert-any-other-industry-related-occupation, i hope Brad and AJ will steer him the right path.

amongst the Jolie-Pitt kids, i think Maddox is the one i like most. possibly because he’s so heartbreakingly cute when he was so small, or just his aura. but i wish him well.

call me biased, but Jaden Smith is NOT someone Maddox needs to emulate. ever.

  17. ILoveMyScorpio says:

Maddox hit the jackpot when Angelina adopted him. Most actors have to spend years waiting tables, living off top ramen, couch surfing, and hustling just to get bit parts in b movies. His multi-million dollar A-list career is just handed to him on a silver platter because his parents are the most famous actors on the planet.

    • Esmom says:

Yeah well he wouldn’t be the first to experience nepotism. And it seems a little crass to say he hit the jackpot only because of his parents’ Hollywood pedigree. Loving parents and a stable home and family life are clearly what Maddox is getting and he is fortunate indeed.

  18. Maya says:

Nope I can’t see this happening – especially Mad still being so young.

I know Brad and Angelina both said they will respect whatever their children chooses to do when they grow up but they wish that they will continue the JP charity legacy instead. I remember Angelina once saying that she really hopes Mad becomes the CEO of all of their charities and focuses on that.

Having said that there is nothing wrong with the acting profession and if the children have stable parents, enjoys childhood and gets an education as well – they will turn out normal and wonderful like Natalie Portman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Duff etc. it’s all down to how the parents are dealing with it.

PS: as someone else mentioned above – the JPs know how to keep things a secret and this just seems like a false rumour.

  19. Cecilia says:

I sincerely hope this is not true. He’s a kid. Education should be stressed. He needs guidance, not indulgence. I have no idea how the Brand parent but I would be protecting my child at this point. Hollywood is brutal — but nepotism rules…look how Angie got into the ‘business.’

    • Maya says:

When will you grow up and stop calling them the brand? It’s quite insulting and immature. They are human beings and have names – how about having the decency to say the names?

As for nepotism – yes Angelina got into Hollywood because of her father. So did Jamie Lee Curtis, Colin Hanks and many more.

The idol you worship aka Jennifer Aniston only came because of her father and god father. How about criticising her? No? Then again you Jennifer fans are notoriously hypocritical and nothing is going to change that.

PS: since you always follow the JPs despite hating them then you should have known that Angelina once said in an interview that no matter what choices her children make – they will have to have an university degree before pursuing their dreams. She said because education is the most important thing in the world and as a good parent she will make sure her children will have an education to fall back to if they don’t manage to fulfil their dreams.

      • Cecilia says:

        Yawn

      • Maya says:

Thanks for proving me right – you are an immature girl who simply hasn’t been taught any manners nor respect for anyone else.

And also – don’t you have enough intelligence to actually write a reply or are you one of those Jennifer fans she herself called retarded? No – delete that because calling you a retard will be insulting towards people who are actually struggling with minimal brain capacity.

      • Sal says:

Thanks for the incentive for me to go harder against Aniston, Cecilia. Your vindictive and spiteful name-calling and your childish yawn when exposed shows you for the spiteful thing you are. I’ll now go harder against her three-fold, and the scum that support her. People can blame you. You really need to learn when to shut up and stop making Aniston look bad.

      • Esmom says:

@Cecilia, yeah, how dare you yawn and make Aniston look bad! Um, WTF?

      • Cecilia says:

        @ Esmom – WTF is right…

        @ Maya – you don’t even deserve a reply.

@ Sal – zzzzzzz zz zzzzzzzzzzzz

This is clearly someone who does not deserve our attention. Since I cannot abide passive-aggressive instigators, I choose to avoid her posts in the future.

They are a Brand! What we see is what they are selling us. Nothing wrong with that. We don’t know these people other than what they want us to see. Get real! They are a part of Hollywood! Obviously they can hide their real selves as we’ve seen with her breast removal. They aren’t above what the rest of Hollywood ppl do. It’s their job!

Some of you get worked up over nothing,so what if they’re a brand, how does that affect anyone?Although i’m curious maggie, you keep saying the same thing, what exactly are they selling?its an honest question.

  20. Evi says:

In answer to the question of the post?
I’d say yes, only because they’ve started doing that with the daughter in Maleficent. I’m sure there were so many other hopefuls that could have used the money?

  21. Moiselle says:

Enough with giving jobs because someone is a sibling of an actor/actress! Acting talent isn’t necessarily hereditary. Nor is watching your parents act going to mean you too can act. I suppose if the kid really wanted to act his parents could get him any part he wanted. GO TO SCHOOL! GET AN EDUCATION! Hollywood Kids, have a backup plan that doesn’t involve waiting for your trust fund to mature and living off your parents fame (or infamy). I’m looking at you, Ireland Baldwin.

  22. ANDREA1 says:

@Toot I totally get what you are saying we live in a twisted and one dimension society IMO where the thin/skinny women are trashed but you can’t say anything about the over weight else you will be called a bully! A society where a woman is called a slut a whore a homewrecker and the men don’t get insults thrown at them. I wonder when this is going to change and believe you mean I feel and understand what you going through this is totally unrelated but I am a gal with big boobs and I know the names I’m being called even when i try as much as possible to hide them and am always covered up but it doesn’t help I still get called names and makes ladies around Me uneasy I can’t help it cos its nature and there is nothing I can do about it. So I just live my life and make myself happy damning anything people say about Me.

    • ANDREA1 says:

Oops I see my reply was misplaced.

    • Sloane W!yatt says:

No matter where you put it Andrea1, it’s a great post!

The names, the body shaming, the media dictates, are what we all are expected to accept as a matter of course. Whether you’re skinny or fat or in between, a lot of body shapes are still not considered beautiful, and maybe never will be. – Misery

Women of ‘all sizes’ have to have these perfect ratios and still adhere to an imposed rigid body standard unattainable for the vast majority of women. Too many of us have bought into the patriarchal message that women are never good enough as is, and the only acceptable definition of attractive is when we fit their mold.

“I wonder when this is going to change” – Andrea1 The answer to your question is Right Now! We women are rising up against patriarchy. Instead of sleepwalking through divisively repellent outmoded social strictures, more and more of us every day are waking up to a true reality of universal beauty and the idea that women are people equally deserving as men. This form of thought control is absurd and, thank God, women are now seeing through this shell game and loving themselves as the perfect Goddesses they are!

  23. Tazina says:

Maddox gives a vibe of being a good natured and nice boy. There’s nothing wrong with him trying out acting. Obviously his parents are supportive and will be with him every step of the way. There’s a lot of money in acting and it can be spent on helping others, as Angelina does with her acting salary. She donates a good portion of it to charity.

Ireland Baldwin is 17 and still in high school. How can anyone know what she’s going to do with her life?

  24. Viv says:

I think Brad and Angie are too smart to put they’re kid in a starring role until he’s earned the right. That would appear pompous, sort of why I think it backfired on the Smith kids.

  25. Sarah says:

Forget Angie. With Brad Pitt always looking so greasy and dirty, I had forgotten how hot he was. Meow he looks good in these pics!

  26. mk says:

I think they deserve the chance to show how easy it is to let your kid act while leading a healthy life.

    • Cecilia says:

That’s a fine line there, especially looking at what has happened to many child stars. It seems no matter how healthy you raise them, if they are introduced to the sordid Hollywood machine too soon — they are gobbled up. He needs to be guided into a good education & get that under his belt — At that point he would indeed, be able to make a clear-headed choice.

oh please Will & Jada are far from the first actors to let their children attempt to join the family business if they show an interest in it. both Nell & Melissa Newman were actresses when they were younger but didn’t pursue it because they knew they would never escape their parents shadow. granted in that case both their parents were Oscar winners their mom had won before they were born and was nominated 3 more times in the following 33 years while their Father won on his 7th attempt in the best actor category and eighth all together he’d been nominated for best picture in 1969 for Rachel, Rachel though the academy didn’t nominate him for best director which prompted Joanne to threaten to leave the motion picture academy in protest though when cooler heads prevailed she didn’t and is a member to this day though she probably last voted in 2012 when Christopher Plumber finally won for best supporting actor

I’m curious why no one ever had a fit when Judd Apataw put his girls in his films. Rrated films at that. never heard a peep from anyone. Nor anything about all the other celebrities that take their kids to tons of RC smiling.. not screams of pimping or selling out their family.

but then we have to keep that double standard going.

This is an old story that is only being brought up because OMG Brad and Angie let there son walk the Red Carpet with his parents when his mother was getting an once is a life time honor..

And again all the talk about her being thin. Maybe those people should just reference their previous comments on every thread there is on her.

    BS story.

    • mayamae says:

I’ve read through the comments carefully. I didn’t notice anyone screaming – of “pimping” or otherwise. I’m not sure I even saw any comments of selling out their family. I am uncomfortable with any actor who allows their children into the business. Even the very level headed have a hard time, regardless of how perfect their parents are. I would imagine people went a little softer on the Apatow parents because their dad directed and their mother was present in the scenes.

      • lisa2 says:

I was making a general statement about what is usually said when there is any sighing of this couple with their children.

Angie and Brad let Viv have a tiny role in Maleficent. Go read the comments regarding that. NOT soft and her mother/father were there too.

I don’t know if you read the comments on other threads about this couple, if you did you would have understood the full of my comment and why it was said.

  29. Janet says:

If Maddox had a cameo in WWZ it must have lasted for a nanosecond. I saw the movie twice and didn’t even notice him.

    • Maggie says:

No me either. But i bet it was fun for him. I didn’t like WWZ. It was too preachy etc. and I’m getting to the point where I can only see Brad Pitt trying to act as someone else versus the character.

  30. lucy2 says:

I would hope not, if only because of the crushing scrutiny that a major film role brings, and the JP kids already have to face too much attention from the outside world (both positive and negative). Look at the reaction to the Smith kids, especially Jaden’s latest movie. Who would want their kid to potentially face that?
An interest in acting is great, but dumping a starring role in a big budget movie on a kid with little experience and no way to comprehend the responsibilities and ridiculous expectations of it isn’t fair. The Smiths were blind to that, but I don’t think the JP’s would be.

  31. holly hobby says:

I don’t know if it’s true but if it is, I doubt he will be successful in it – even with the Brangelina brand backing him. Why is that? It all comes down to race. Before anyone jumps all over me about this, I want to explain that it is a well known documented fact that Hollywood doesn’t know what to do with asian actors beyond the typical stereotypes.

People can cite Chow Yun Fat and ZiYi Zhang but their opportunities were limited beyond the basic chop socky schtick. Both have since returned to Hong Kong and China to further their careers.

Yes he was raised an American and all that but Hollywood won’t see beyond his face. Good luck in getting him cast as a leading man too. Russell Wong was the last Asian actor to be cast as a lead and I haven’t seen him in a movie/TV in years. For awhile, he was living in Hong Kong with his new wife but he hasn’t been active in years.

    • Kate says:

      Holly Hobby
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Maddox will learn from his parents and have his own production company etc.

    • mayamae says:

I have a friend who tried many years to be a stunt man and actor. He’s Filipino. He got a few small roles, but quit when he got tired of only playing drug addicts and gang members.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

That’s what I hate about Hollywood. They are so convinced that we, the audience, aren’t going to see past race, especially in a non stereotypical role. One of the big ones for me was when I saw “Lust, Caution”. That was the second film, outside of “Memoirs of a Geisha” where they had an asian leading man. And guess what? I didn’t look at Tony Leung and think, “man, he’s hot for an asian guy. he’s a good actor for an asian guy.” I thought “God, he is hot in this role. I want MORE.” I’m getting tired of seeing Asian guys be the geeks, black men being gangsters, etc. Hopefully they’re getting new blood in. I just wished I lived somewhere other than where I am now, because where I live–if the movie isn’t a romantic comedy, part of a franchise, an action film, or a kid’s movie–then it isn’t shown.

      • Sloane W!yatt says:

ITA, Virgilia! Hollywood’s white washing has soured me on their big budget flicks to the point where I look to foreign produced movies for my entertainment.

  32. Mayday says:

Okay I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them getting him into a movies.

He grew up with actor parents (much like jolie herself and countless other hollywood actors) on movie sets. It’s not surprising he is taking an interest in film and acting.

Furthermore, if he DOES get into moves, you KNOW they are going to keep him on a short leash and supervised etc.

Hey, some movies have kids and teenagers in them and given that the world need child and teen actors for those roles. It may as well be somebody well adjusted with parents who obviously care about them versus a a typical child star whose parents are going to take all their money and ruin their kid’s life.

Sure it’s nepotism, but who knows, he may be good.

  34. St says:

As much as I like Brad and Angelina I think they should not give him lead roles. Cast him in few small roles there and there. And then see how it goes. Don’t go full Will Smith. Many people did not like it that daddy Will bought his precious son movie roles. And they might not like when the same will happen to Maddox. Also no one knows if he can be enjoyable actor. Imagine he would be as bad as Jaden. People gonna hate.

  35. Faith says:

There’s nothing wrong with calling someone thin or fat,it only becomes bad when you call a thin person skeletal or a fat person a bull,in fact in my country calling someone fat is a compliment because it signifies wealth.I’m a very thin person, and because people around me kept bothering me,I would eat anything that contained fat even if i didn’t like it,yes i know that sounds bad but i was ready to do anything to gain weight. Then I realized that most of the people forcing me to gain weight were trying to lose theirs and that made me accept my frame and wear clothes that look good on my type of body.

On the topic;I really don’t believe this story, they’re are only saying this because he walked the red carpet with his parents.

    • Lucky Charm says:

My son is rail thin and eats anything and everything – he has an appetite of a horse! But he has a very difficult time gaining weight and complains about it all the time. Skinny guys are teased all the time for not being bulked up and “manly looking”, so it really bothers him when he gets teased for being skinny because he wants to put on a few pounds.

I used to be the same way when I was younger, and it truly made me feel terrible when people made fun of my being so skinny, and all long arms and legs. I hated it and felt like I was the only one being made fun of, and it was nothing that I did on purpose. I prayed every night that I would wake up the next day looking “normal” like all the other girls in school, able to wear all the cute clothes without them hanging off me like I was an orphan that couldn’t afford any clothes that fit me. And I was not “frail” or “not able to make it through the winter”, because what I had was muscle, not fat. When my kids were small, I could carry two toddlers on my hip with no problem, even though my mom was convinced I should be hospitalized for being anorexic because I had no body fat. I ate all day long and was busy and active, only slowing down when I slept. I was healthy, but really, really tired of people constantly tellling me to “eat something” or asking if I was sick. Yeah, sick of people making hurtful comments about my weight! Some people are naturally thin, some go out of their way to be unnaturally skinny. I have known both types of people, and neither one deserves to be picked on about their weight.

  36. Lucky Charm says:

I can’t see either one of them giving any of the kids a starring role until they are adults, and have shown a real interest and ability in acting. They are supportive parents but I just don’t get the Will & Jada vibe from either one of them. They want thier children to succeed in areas that really matter, not just being the next generation of celebrity. If anything, I can see them encouraging the directing and producing side of things, rather than acting.

  37. Kerrboom says:

Holy crap! It seems like just yesterday, Maddox was a tiny little boy and now he’s all grown up! What cameo part did he have in WWZ?

Anywho, if they decide to give their kids acting careers, it’ll probably go over better than the Smith kids because, IMO, a lot of people are turned off by the Smith’s association with the Co$, myself included. Whenever I find out about an actor being involved with the cult, I just can’t separate it and I’m unable to watch any of their movies.

  38. crazydaisy says:

I’ve been following Angelina Jolie since shortly before Billy Bob and have loved her always, and yeah, she looks frighteningly, sickly skinny in these pics. Bobble head city, no doubt. But her speech was very moving, and she walks her talk about wanting to do good for the world. So what if she’s got eating issues and weight stuff…? Let’s just move on, people. Discussing it ad nauseum is boring and missing the point.

    • Kay says:

Perfect comment crazydaisy.I became a fan of Angie after i saw her movie for the first time(tomb raider),i don’t care if she’s thin, sick, crazy,a drug addict,a homewrecker,a fake humanitarian,a bad mother, etc.I’m a fan of hers because i enjoy every one of her movies,i would see anything she’s in.I like reading about her but i hesitate because i always know what the comments will be even when the stories are different, there’s nothing wrong with hating her,i mean if i came to this site and everyone was gushing about her i won’t be happy but it gets tiring when its the same thing everytime!.Can’t people come up with something new? There’s so much going on in her life yet everytime we have to read comments about her weight, its been over 8 years!! Complain about something new pleaaaaaassssseeee.

Congrats to Brad and Angelina and The Perrin family, their wine Rose Miravel has been named #1 Rose’ in the World.I DK how to put accent over the e in Rose 🙂

Blue Marie- Wanted to comment on your earlier post. I’ve also been insulted for being “too pale” and told to tan. I don’t know why this isn’t considered racist, no one would ever say the same to a black person! I also find it ironic in a country where people kill themselves tanning in the sun and solariums.

  41. chloe says:

I think if the Brad and Angelina’s children want to be in movies they would support it, make sure they are not taken advantage of and probably still make them get their schooling, unlike the Smith’s who seem to require that their children must be stars. As for nepotism in the business, it’s just not in Hollywood, I have a friend who’s a firefighter because his father and grandfather was firefighters. I work with a couple of generations of families at my workplace and my brother and Mom are in the same field. As for their children having cameos in their films, I’m sure they were probably on set’s the days they might need a child for a scene, why wouldn’t use what’s there, my Mom worked for a TV station for years and I was in several commercials (along with other staff members children) whenever they needed a child for something.
I also wanted to say I thought Angelina’s dress from the other night was beautiful, I know it was black, but I thought the overlay had such a cool design on it, I was going to comment on that thread but I was not getting involved in that craziness.

  42. Desdmeona says:

Well, just because you have A list parents ,doesn’t mean you will have a great career in Hollywood. There are so many children or nieces or nephews of famous stars who struggling in Hollywood. They don’t have hot careers or anything.
Look at Bruce and Demi’s daughters, are they A list or B List stars? No. They could only land straight-to-dvd type roles.
Emma Roberts in comparassion to people like Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone has a crap career. Aunty Julia can’t her get her the kind of roles that Lawrence or Stone are offered, no matter how much she tries.
Even Meryl Streep has 2 or 3 of her daughters in acting, but I do not see them in leading roles or anything big. I have only seen them in small time TV roles.
Same goes for this kid. I really don’t think he will be very successful in acting, producing or directing just because his parents are Brad and Angie. There are lots of talented kids around his age who have no family connections or anything , and the directors usually go for them rather then some child of a star. I am sure he has the resources, but that’s not enough to have a acting, directing or producing career. You need talent and skills in the end.
