I remember when Amy Adams first started doing the awards circuit. She was really an “it” fashion girl, and she took risks while remaining interesting and gorgeous. Now her fashion is kind of hit or miss, which is to be expected I guess. She’s not trying to pull focus on every red carpet, she’s just showing up, being a consummate professional and looking genuinely happy when she’s passed up, yet again. Amy’s time will come, but it’s not this awards season.
Amy was in this black Victoria Beckham sleeveless gown which just seemed very plain to me. It was a little black dress with a sheer crop top over it and a little polo collar. Maybe with less severe hair this would have worked, but the overall effect is very staid. The dress definitely highlights her killer figure. When she was presenting I was struck by how fit her arms looked. I had arm envy, but not fashion envy. Plus her makeup was overdone. She had those same bow shaped lips with freshly-applied lipstick on camera.
This is Imogen Poots, she’s a 24 year-old British actress who was in one of the most memorable dresses of the evening, in my opinion. She’s known for 28 Weeks Later, which I’ve seen but I didn’t remember her honestly. This amazing crimson cutout gown is Givenchy. Do you remember Amy Adams’ Globe dress this year? It was also Givenchy and was very low cut. Amy isn’t always so conservative. She could have pulled off a dress like this but maybe she’s just trying to mix it up.
Contrast that skin-showing showstopper to Sally Hawkins, of Blue Jasmine, in long sleeve Mulberry. This dress looks just like the one she wore to the Globes, which was similarly pale and embroidered. I dislike the bell skirt, I dislike the formal floral pattern, and I dislike the whole gown. It’s very old fashioned and fug.
Edith Bowman did some red carpet interviews last night, and I’m including her because she was awesome. I honestly didn’t know who she was until I saw her on BBC America ahead of the show. She was funny as hell, she was very good at talking to the attendees, and I just came away so impressed with her. That said, I was distracted by her flyaway hair. She made up for it with her personality, though. She was a lot of fun.

Omg.. That Imogen’s dress is what Kim K wore in black earlier this year. Ugh.
It’s a classed up version of Kim’s dress, but still looks like crap. Imogen is so pretty (and I LOVE her name…if I had my way I would have called my newborn Imogen but I digress) and way better then that monstrosity.
I also think Amy looked incredible and very appropriate for the BAFTAs. The dress fits her like a glove.
All I can see when I look at Imogen’s dress is the illusion of a one-triangle eyed monster with fangs. Do not like.
Agreed, I love the VB dress and i think Amy looks gorgeous in it.
Cut-outs: just no.
Hands down Amy looks perfect. The hair is perfect for such a structured dress and the makeup balances the effect. Overall the best look by far. And you can never go wrong with VB, always so classy.
Her hair and make up look perfect, but I hate the dress.
Edith is ok but when you have to listen to her on the radio you want to turn the station. She was in need of some hairspray..

hahahah that’s eyeliner lesson 101 for 16 y/o’s I didn’t think they put it on like that anymore.. if she did want to do that she should have had that smokey eye action going on .
I think Amy looks good, her make up could have been a bit lighter but other than that, I like it.
And Sally Hawkins looks like she’s wearing a bed spread, no.
Amy looks wonderful. The others … Not so much.
I really like Amy’s dress. Simple but still very interesting. But I agree on the makeup – definitely overdone.

Amy’s dress is awesome.

I feel so bad that Amy hasn’t won anything…she’s been nominated so many times, and I think she is a fantastic actress…plus, I think she looks stunning….I can’t believe Jennifer Lawrence keeps winning best supporting actress…now, she is overrated…

I think Amy gets nominated for O.K. level of work like in The Master and Doubt. I know it’s popular to complain about Jennifer Lawrence because Amy is the older more relatable actress but Amy is even more of an Oscar darling than Jennifer. They nominate her for every thing but she can’t beat the competion cause they are better. This year she was actually really good in American Hustle but Cate Blanchett was extraordinary in Blue Jasmine and Meryl also in August Osage County.
Agreed. I didn’t see August, but of course- Meryl. I did see both Blue Jasmine and American Hustle, and I think Cate was amazing in an amazing, meaty role. Just a tour de force. Amy was reliably good in what I thought was a pretty overrated movie, to be honest. Sad that Renner didn’t get more love, because I thought he was pretty great and understated (guess there was no scenery left to chew with B Coop around).
Jennifer has only won twice so far. Lupita has won twice so far.
I liked Amy’s dress-it really accentuates her waist. The others, not so much. Hoping for better at the Oscars!
I think Amy’s dress is sophisticated without being stuffy, & sexy without being smutty. She looks really put together! And why pick on the shape of her lips? Those of us with bow lips are

I have a feeling that she and Cate Blanchett both wore black on purpose because of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. They were both close with him.
Amy dressed as though she was going to a little cocktail event not a Redcarpet award show. Very disappointing dress with that collar. She had been bringing it most of this season with her sexy 70’s look to represent her American Hustle character.
Adams’ dress is perfection, wow. And Poots’ is also just effing amazing. They both win Fashion.
I loved Amy’s look the best. And i liked her lipstick color too. She has an amazing figure and she’s showing it off well! I hate that ill fitting blue dress though. Its the most fug of all.

Oh wow I love that VB dress that Amy has on. Geez it is sort of retro looking and really classy. That Givenchy dress looks like hell in my opinion, it looks like something made in a 7th grade home ec class. Everything else is just okay.

Yes, but I am not saying she did wrong , it’s just that based on the pics I saw, that particular dress was not a a perfect choice for her. And I would add that she probably looked great in person.
I thought it was boring. In general, the dresses were so dour, aside from a few highlights. I know it’s cold in London right now but jeez- you can still be glamouress whilst covering up!

Amy Adams looks like a line backer in that dress. not a flattering cut for her. and Kim Kardashian wore that other dress in black not too long ago, with a more open center V cut in the front.

I love Amy’s look, it’s sleek and elegant and her body looks amazing. When you have the perfect black dress, there’s not much more you need to add. Perfection.
This was the best Amy has looked through the awards season. She really pulled it together last night.
Sally Hawkins looks like Lacy Chabert (from Party of Five & Mean Girls) all grown-up.
I love Amy so much, I really wish she would pull an upset at the Oscars. I just can’t with La Blanchett, who always seem to look so… bitter.

I want to love this Victoria Beckham look, (seeing that I love both Amy and Victoria’s clothes), but I think the top isn’t sitting very well – and that’s on the construction of the dress, not on Amy. But I really liked the whole look, she’s very sophisticated.

I actually really love Amy’s look–I think she would’ve looked even more amazing if it had been a jewel tone, but I still love it. The tailoring is amazing, and she looks great.
And I like that the dress actually looks unique. I don’t have time to look through Vogue’s website for the latest looks, but this is an interesting and unique design for a long, black formal gown. I’ve never seen it before.
I loved Amy’s after party electric blue dress a lot better.

On the other hand, Imogen’s dress looks ALMOST as bad as it did on cat-face-Kim. The chest cutout is cute, the hip cutouts are cute, but together they look like a trashy drape dress.

As for Imogen: have you seen what she usally wears to premieres? She’s an incredibly beautiful woman but she does NOT know how to dress herself. So this is a huge improvement!
