Pippa Middleton might get a ‘correspondent gig’ with NBC’s ‘Today’: UGH.

wenn21495048

Here are some photos of Pippa Middleton enjoying some leisure time at Wimbledon yesterday. She went with her brother James, unlike in years past when Pippa and Kate used to go together. She returned from her bike trip across America last weekend, I guess, and flew immediately to England where she dove head-first into a tanning bed and spray tanner. Seriously, this is the worst color she’s ever been. And she’s usually a gross shade of orange, but this shade is like… “Kardashian Orange” or something.

Anyhoodle, we’re still waiting to see what amazing things Pippa will say in her Today interview, which airs next week (and they’re going to milk it for a while too). Today did release some quotes, including Pippa’s answer to a question about whether her relationship with Kate has changed at all since Kate became a duchess: “Not particularly, no. I mean, obviously she has pressures that she’s taken on and things. But we spend a lot of time together. We still do a lot together as a family. And I think that’s really the heart for all of us is having a really close family that we can sort of be normal with each other, treat each other normally. And that’s sort of kept us all, you know, affixed to the ground.” Affixed to the ground?

Also…Page Six claims that NBC might offer Pippa a job as a special correspondent.

NBC is considering offering Pippa Middleton a correspondent gig on “Today” following her interview with Matt Lauer. Sources tell us NBC has been angling to interview Pippa for a while, and it is set to make a job offer to the 30-year-old sister of Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Pippa this week sat down with Lauer in London for her first TV interview, which will air on Monday and Tuesday on “Today.”

A source told us, “NBC, along with all the major networks, have been trying to sign Pippa for some time. NBC is set to make a fresh approach to her following the interview.”

The source added NBC’s offer to Pippa could be for her to take a similar role as Chelsea Clinton’s on “Today,” appearing in special reports rather than dishing on her famous family. It was reported in 2012 that NBC was set to offer Pippa a $600,000 deal to be a royal correspondent. But an NBC spokeswoman denied this at the time. However, Pippa would never have agreed to take on the beat because she wouldn’t be able to dish on the British royal family.

Still, the TV source added, “Pippa could do reports based on her party planning book or her charity work.”

An NBC rep sniffed last night, “This is 100 percent not true and it seems anyone suggesting otherwise is ‘royally’ jealous.”

[From Page Six]

It’s amazing to me that Pippa is able to fall, ass (of lies) first, into all of these plum, well-paying jobs. I think it’s stupid that Jenna Bush-Hager and Chelsea Clinton are “special correspondants” for NBC too, but at least in Jenna’s case, she actually pulls a few good “gets” with presidential families and such. But Pippa wouldn’t even be able to do that. I mean, there will be no situation where Pippa is able to get an interview with someone in Britain that any other journalist wouldn’t be able to get. If anything, the average celebrity, athlete or royal would be more wary of speaking to Pippa. Dear World: stop paying Pippa to have pretend careers.

    Oh God NO.

    • GirlyGirl says:

Lauer must be excited, now he’ll be able to say “I’m not the most boring person on the show!”

  2. Kiddo says:

People still watch the Today show outside of random clips? I ask sincerely.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Not that I know of. I answer sincerely.

    • feebee says:

I can’t even stand random clips of Matt Lauer.

UGH is the only answer to this particular story.

    • SnarkySnarkers says:

Its my background noise in the morning but I don’t actually “watch” it. Theres something comforting about having it on while drinking coffee and interneting before I go to work lol. Maybe I’m alone here but I will probably watch Pippa tips Today style just for the lols. I kinda hope this is true.

      • bella says:

i have it on every morning, too!
it’s a tradition comfort…i listen while getting ready and stop to watch the clips that interest me.
right now, i’m in front of the TV watching/listening to philip philips…because i love him!
aside from annoying matt, i quite love the show.
and, i am in the audience every NYC trip…
say what you will, but today is part of the american culture.
on pippa…ugh…she lacks substance, but i would watch her just to see how awful she may be…though i wish her well…

      • JudyK says:

Add me as having to have TODAY on to start my day w/ my morning coffee and paper.

There’s not a morning news show that can compare to it, and as much as I like George Stephanopoulos, I’ll never watch Good Morning America…just not the same.

      • Kate2 says:

I watch it too. I have it on as I get ready in the morning. I’ve tried watching some other shows and I don’t see what’s so much better or less annoying about them. As you said, its background noise and for me its a way of keeping track of time without me having to look at the clock. I don’t even hate Matt Lauer as much as everyone else seems to. They have pretty interesting segments sometimes.

      • Ruth Dunbar says:

I’ll own up to being a Today viewer too, but it’s mostly out of habit — I started back when I was 11 and would have it on while I was getting ready for school. Thirty years later I have it on while I get ready to leave for the office. I still miss Jane Pauley.

I guess having people like Pippa around would help ratings? Is that what they are thinking? Because it’s not ability. Poor Chelsea Clinton has all the charisma of used dental floss. Jenna Bush is ok on camera now — she’s grown on me and I like her– but good lord she wasn’t any good at first either and, I agree, at least she can get a Presidential story now and then. Let’s just hope they keep Luke Russert away from the set. If you don’t know who Luke Russert is, consider yourself lucky.

I don’t hate Matt — what I hate is what appears to me to be decisions by the network or producers or whatever to reduce the show into utter fluff. I mean, who decided to make the ladies dance on camera during musical performances? Say what you will about Savannah, but the woman has a law degree and was the former White House correspondent for NBC. So I can’t even watch that. There was a time when they actually did hard news segments, and not just cooking and relationship stories. So what I hate is NBC’s dumbing down of the show.

Long enough rant? I just got up and am working on my first cup of coffee, so my apologies.

    • M.A.F. says:

I get up and leave too early for the national news shows. But when I was at home during those hours I would have the Today Show on. I can’t stand anyone at Good Morning America, never could. I think George Stephanopoulos is a waste at GMA, he should be doing a Charlie Rose type show.

  3. Sullivan says:

Michelle and her friend look lovely.

  4. lower-case deb says:

    affixed to the ground?
is this some kind of euphemism?
like, waste matter colliding with an aeration device? or spectating an accident involving mass transportation?

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Don’t know. Will have to give it some electrical activity amongst the neurons.

    • Lucrezia says:

When one has nothing of importance to say, adding extraneous pompous verbiage can lengthen one’s time in the spotlight and potentially obfuscate the fact that one is actually saying nothing at all #Pippatips

    • Hazel says:

I think that may be some sort of Anglicized version of ‘keeping your feet on the ground’. Or, I’ve noticed a lot of celebs have been saying how they’re ‘grounded’, or being a parent keeps them ‘grounded’, etc.

  5. PHD Gossip says:

Orangina was seated in the Royal Box. Sheesh.

    • Darkladi says:

      Haha! Direct hit!!

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

I don’t know, is it possible that she got a little tan while bike riding? Notice how the back of her arm in the first picture fades to white. That’s a crapjob if the tan is entirely fake. Methinks maybe she got a bit of sun and then spray tanned herself to oblivion.

Do you have to dress like you’re going to your grandmother’s retirement party to watch a tennis match? It just seems so weird.

  6. other side says:

I find the dude with the blue tie more interesting.

  7. PHD Gossip says:

When was the last time Kate was photographed with Pippa? Just asking.

    • MinnFinn says:

That’s an interesting question. Wimbledon 2013? I don’t think Kate has been papped shopping in awhile and I have to believe it’s not because she hasn’t been shopping.

    • wolfpup says:

I wish we could see them smiling side by side, because Pippa’s teeth are *so* much better than Kate’s! Pippa is more natural than Kate, and easier to like. She didn’t angle for her place in the spotlight, but she has taken it on, and done her best, and that should count for something. If I were suddenly famous because my sister had married *whoever*, I wouldn’t like the forced attention at all! Good for Pippa! Oh, and I like her sense of style, much more than Kate’s.

  8. shix says:

Who’s the hotty in the navy blue suit in the last 2 pics?
Ps: I don’t get why they’re in formal wear at a tennis match. Is there some rule I need to know about?

  9. eliza says:

“Pippa could do reports based on her party planning book” Lol! The party planning book that was a huge fail and made a mockery of by everyone for it’s juvenile and done 1000 times over ideas? Allllriiighty then.

  10. Darkladi says:

Work it, girl. Get that cash! #shamelesshustle

  11. JudyK says:

Don’t get the appeal of Pippa at all. Let me add an Ugh to your Ugh.

  12. Azurea says:

I’m not a Pippa apologist, but maybe the tan came from cycling outdoors for 3,000 miles.

And it’s “dived,” not “dove.” Thank you. 🙂

  13. Barrett says:

    Her Tan looks aging, no?

    • Faye says:

Seriously. Look at the contrast between her and Michelle Dockery, who I think is older than Pippa but looks years younger.

  14. Francis says:

This family never stops cashing in on their Royal connection. They are referred to as the British Kardashians by many.
William has no control over this family, they do as they please, they cash in and he just sits back and watches. Probably afraid to confront them on their cashing in or probably doesn’t ever see them that way. The Middleton’s certainly have him wrapped around their fingers. IMO
Rumours in the press about a year and half ago was the Palace had Kate privately ask Pippa to lay low. I wonder now why the sudden interviews and possibly tv network job for US Tv station?

  15. Tiffany says:

Kate’s first exclusive interview since the marriage is coming and guess who the interviewer is going to be. I can totally see this happening as even an anchor who is new to the gig will but her through the ringer. Good will is gone, PR is a mess so one has to be coming soon, right?

    • Faye says:

I bet Pippa would love it, but I don’t see the Firm approving that -certainly not with an American broadcaster.

Does Kate even give interviews at all? I don’t recall one since her engagement. I know sometimes she reads prepared remarks at her charities, but I don’t think she is interviewed.

      • Francis says:

Kate won’t do an interview ever, UNLESS the marriage is on the ropes and divorce or separation is about to be announced. She would probably then do a runny black eyeliner tears welling in eyes interview about how she did everything to save the marriage, yadayada, yadayada ………….but for now NO WAY will Kate do an interview, but she might be able to leak things to Pippa, …..

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Yeah, why would she do an interview with a US TV show when she doesn’t even do them in the UK? Also, I think the US only started to hear from these people when Diana went AWOL and started talking to anyone who would listen, which apparently included Baba Wawa.

Also, since it hasn’t been mentioned yet, does anyone recall Princess Fergie or whatever her name is’ really brief stint as an entertainment correspondent? I mean, that lasted for all of two weeks because guess what, no one in America really cares! Why would anyone think it’s going to be any different with this one? I just feel like some of these people try to capitalize on their “fame” in a country that will let them get away with it. Unfortunately, that country seems not to be interested. Maybe try Canada.

      • Faye says:

@We Are All Made of Stars -I agree re nobody in America really caring. There was a spike in interest around the time of the wedding, just because of the paegentry of it all, I think (I mean, even Kim K’s wedding got tons of press, so clearly we’re not too discriminating). And certainly, blogs like this one and the celeb mags garner royal interest. But I think sometimes people from outside America don’t realize how big the country is and what a small percentage of it the blogs represent. Most people just really don’t care about the royals. I don’t see Pippa garnering especially high ratings as a “correspondent.”

      • Hazel says:

Sorry, but I mentioned this yesterday. Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, got a ‘reporting’ gig at the Today Show. ‘The Firm’ would have no say in it.

      • Faye says:

Hazel, my comment about the firm wasn’t about Pippa getting the job – which obviously they have no control over -but about her interviewing Kate, which is what the poster I was responding to mentioned. Please read the context before commenting.

      • wolfpup says:

What’s wrong with capitalizing on fame? – most everyone (including corporations) do it. Who, I call out who, is not going to take cash, by doing a job that you get by having connections; most people get their jobs because of their connections. Are we all really so high and mighty? I doubt it. What’s wrong with making the most of your opportunities? So what?..it’s the way of life.

      • Faye says:

@wolfpup – I don’t think anybody is saying she has a moral obligation not to take the job, or that we would all turn down the chance to take a job we got through the connections (although personally, having worked very hard at my studies and work experience while in school, I was very proud to get the job I did on my own, with no help). The point is that without any sort of journalistic experience, she just doesn’t have much to say. What does she bring to the table? She doesn’t do much besides shop and party (and the occasional charity athletic event). Look at what happened with the Telegraph and Sainsbury’s and I think Vanity Fair too – they got rid of her because she just didn’t have much to contribute. I don’t care if she takes the job, but it seems weird to me they’d choose her.

      • hmmm says:

        @wolfpup.

Well, KIm K capitalised on her sex tape. Where does one draw the line? I would certainly capitalise on an opportunity if I felt competent and had shown myself competent in a field. It takes a bit of self- knowledge and humility to know where you can make a contribution .

Of course, you could just greedily grasp the brass ring for all it’s worth to get the cash and take, take, take. You get the filthy lucre, you get the notoriety, but no self- respect, or respect of others and a shady reputation. And/or you show yourself lame and become an ongoing joke like #PippaTips. Your choice.

    • Talie says:

Not Kate, but I could see Harry going for it… or William. They always go to Today when doing an American interview.

  16. TG says:

Apparently Pippa didn’t take advantage of all the benefits the US has to offer in regards to the spray tan. Did she start her trip in CA? Maybe not and that is why she didn’t get oranges up.

  17. elo says:

I really like Jenna on Today, Pippa however is like the Jennifer Aniston of England. Boring and purposeless.

    • Francis says:

Pippa and Carole are the British Kardashians. That’s how Carole is viewed by a lot of people, pushy mum, pushing her daughters into the limelight and the daughters taking it from there pushing themselves..,,, and

There was a book written by some guy who is part of the Aristo circle and a friend of Pr. Charles, ( or old former friend) he evidently compared Carole to Kris Kardashian throughout the book and the family to the Kardashians, interestingly the book was said to be coming out about two years ago, but has not arrived yet!

    • Cricket says:

I like Jenna too! She has a warmth and personality to her. Chelsea, I believe, suffers from the same lack of personality, charisma as Kate. Jury is out but I think Pippa might do well on US TV in a Bridget Jones sort of way.

  18. Francis says:

She started trip in Oceanside California, near San Diego, at the beach, there were photos of her arriving with the bikes. They group was around Oceanside for a few days. She loved America, she said she was surprised how HUGE the US is and how breathtaking the landscape and scenery is. She loved the US.
When she said that it made me appreciate the vastness of variety of landscapes in the US. Sometimes as an American I forget how beautiful it is.

    • MediaMaven says:

I live a few miles south of where the race originated, and I sometimes forget how gorgeous this part of the country is. I’ve been here for about 30 years, and when driving from Point A to Point B, I often get a random view of the Pacific Ocean, and remember what a lucky girl I really am.

      • HappyMom says:

I live here too-and my daughter’s (public) school has views of the Pacific. I love it. 4 years here and I’m still blown away :).

  19. Megan says:

Her hair looks really good. Kate should consider that length.

  20. MinnFinn says:

Pippa was in America this time last year. I bet she keeps coming every June for the next few years seeking media attention with the goal of landing some sort of deal with an American company.

Brits, we’ll take Madonna back if you agree to keep Pippa on your side of the pond. Deal?

  21. Justme says:

Pictures of Pippa taken the day the race ended, while still in her Lycra suit show her this color. This is the color she turns when she tans.

As to the broadcasting job – aside from the fact that NBC has denied it twice (when they deny it three times, the cock crows), they’d never have her move to the US. She’d be reporting (badly) on British things (of the non-royal variety)

  22. Beatrice says:

Apparently, all of the GOOD ideas have already been taken. Does anyone (anywhere) really want to see MORE of Pippa? She makes a terrible fashion icon. Her party planning tips are vapid and absurd. She can’t get anyone interested in her maybe engagement. UGH is exactly right! Go away, Pippa! Bring us more GEORGE!!

    • wolfpup says:

Oh, let Pippa play – she isn’t a threat to anyone if she is so boring… The Kardashion family is more like a circus, with all the strange body parts.

      • MinnFinn says:

wolfpup – So right, Kardashians are the circus and Middletons are the peep show.

  23. Trending says:

Pippa would definitely draw viewers in. You can’t deny that.

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Really? You seem to be the only person making that assertion. Fergie’s two week long stint as a correspondent didn’t go over well, and she’s got more name recognition in the US as a result of being a tabloid target and, you know, being married to some guy who has something or other to do with royalty.

      • wolfpup says:

Oh, we would want to look at her for sure. There would be all kinds of people who would want to see William’s sister-in-law. I don’t see why anyone should resent this. If she is to crash and burn, so be it. If she were actually engaging, wouldn’t that be nice? Big deal, who cares, this is a very big world, after all, and everyone has a life, to make happy.

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

I don’t resent her in the least. Where are you getting that from? I simply stated that America doesn’t know who she is, and that’s a fact. Most of America would draw a blank with “Kate Middleton.” I wish her no ill will in any way.

    • Faye says:

For the first show or so, maybe. After that? Doubtful.

    • megan says:

If this is true, I would guess it is to draw younger viewers to the show. Would it work? IDK?

  24. Adrien says:

Hey, Pippa! The View is hiring. Perfect replacement for Jenny McCarthy. Pippa tips are very much needed for that show.

    • Cricket says:

Lol! Since they are hiring two hosts how about Cheryl Cole or Coleen Rooney too!

  25. QQ says:

BwahhahHahahaha I cant pay attention to what was written cause this chick looks an 11 in The Boehner Orange scale!!! LMMFAO she actually looks like a lightskinned black chick…only in another 5 years there’ll be a gazillion more leathery wrinkles!!!

  26. Hausfrau says:

For what reason, precisely, would Pippa need assistance in being “affixed to the ground”? SHE DOESN’T DO ANYTHING. She’s only known because her sister married well; she wants us to accept that her family’s second-hand fame is so life changing that they need to keep each other grounded? And here I thought I couldn’t dislike this oompa loompa any more…

    • Dame Snarkweek says:

Pippa has strangers sharing very emphatic opinions about her on a foreign celeb blog. I guess herfamily’s second tier fame probably has been life changing, wouldn’t you say?

  27. QQ says:

Jenna Bush in the Today show Is A HOT MESS!! The twitter goes Crazy when they trot her out, she has Awful diction, cant read the prompter (islike taking over Ann Curry’s mantle!) cant work the Orange room touchscreen when they put her there, and MOST (and i mean over 50%) of her interviews are with her family members, where invariably and like clockwork, she WILL cry/get weepy etc.

    • siobhan says:

+1000 – she does not deserve that job and has done absolutely nothing to work her way up. BTW, I thought she trained as a teACHER, not a journalist.

  28. Skins says:

Maybe her and Alec Baldwin’s wife can get some kind of show. 2 Non-Talents for the price of one

  29. may234 says:

I’d watch it! I like her though I don’t think she going to be very entertaining but Jenna was nothing special and Clinton was a disaster, so I’m expecting Pippa will just do this for a little bit and go back to whatever she was doing before.

  30. GeeMoney says:

I just don’t get why she’s famous. She has literally done NOTHING other than be Kate Middleton’s sister and wear a nice bridesmaid’s dress to Kate’s wedding. WTF.

  31. P.J. says:

Nooooooooo! Also, if Dina Lohan is Orange Oprah, then we definitely need to come up with a nickname for Pips. (Cinnamon Barbie?)

Yeahhhh. American press, please stop incessantly trying to make Pippa a “thing.” We aren’t interested. Except for when she gets drunk and gets caught doing stupid things with her fellow entitled rich and wannabe aristocratic friends. Then we LOVE her 😂

  32. melissa says:

Just goes to show how out of touch NBC is.

To my great disappointment, Vanity Fair hasn’t gotten rid of her yet.

    She is the British Kardashian.

  33. Duchess of Corolla says:

She looks a bit like Julia Louis-Dreyfus in that first photo.

  34. TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

Stopped watching the Today show when they let Kris Jenner talk instead of honoring the victims of 9/11 with a moment of silence; has that classless incident been forgotten? She will fit right in; Natalie Morales is hardly a journalist imho.

    • melain says:

Oh for a journalist. I remember them. Back before corporations owned media outlets. That was when most cities had a newspaper, maybe even two. People went to school to learn how to research and reason and write. Those reporters took their jobs seriously and only the best made it to the national news. And now…well it seems to have unraveled. The Wal-Mart of “news” is looking for ratings bump. Hey, I have an idea: stop with the parade of celebrity relatives. Quit packaging your swill as ‘news.’ We know the difference.
