Brad Pitt says the kids were ‘so still & respectful’ when they met the Queen

hello brad

Brad Pitt has a great new interview in the new issue of Hello Magazine. He’s promoting Fury, of course, and some of the quotes are variations on stuff we’ve heard in some of his other recent interviews. But he did talk in greater depth about going to Buckingham Palace and how the Jolie-Pitt kids reacted to meeting the Queen. Some quotes:

Getting married: “We have six kids already so we felt so beyond that [marriage] for a long time. But the kids were asking and so we thought it would be a lovely thing to do, for them and for us as a family, and it was all of that. But I was surprised afterwards at the effect that getting married has had on us – it was more than just a ceremony, it meant a real depth of commitment. I feel like a married man – I really do.”

He will speak French in ‘By the Sea’: “The film’s set in France so it makes sense for me to speak it. And I think my French is pretty good, so my writer/director put a lot of the language into the script and we’ll see how I do. My writer/director is tough as nails, as you know.”

Traveling with the kids: “Travel is the best education there is. I had never been on a plane till I was 24 or 25, so when I started to travel abroad, whether it was to Netherlands or Tokyo or Belgium, it was all such an experience.”

The possibility that ‘Fury’ and ‘Unbroken’ would be in competition at the Oscars: “I often end up with movies competing with my friends’ movies and I always feel that it’s great when we all make it there. I am immensely proud of Angie, she’s made an incredible movie, which is a big story about the triumph of the human spirit – we’re certainly not pitted against each other and I hope Unbroken gets all the recognition it deserves.”

Meeting the Queen: “That was a lovely day for our whole family. We were offered the opportunity to bring the kids in to meet the Queen afterwards, and I have to say I have never seen them so still and respectful in my whole life. To see them bowing and curtseying and saying ‘Your Majesty’ was an absolute delight.”

Hello Mag also says that the American ambassador to the UK hosted a luncheon for Angelina and the Jolie-Pitts after she got Dame’d. Pretty elite circles, right? Brad also talked a lot about how he and Angelina never wanted to make separate films away from each other again, after their schedules got mixed up and he was filming Fury in England while she filmed Unbroken in Australia. Angelina already said that they wrote hand-written love letters to each other during that time, and Brad confirms: “Well, they weren’t just love letters although there was a lot of love in them.” Aw.

I love a great love letter.. reminded me of the movie Roxanne.. lol
Letters writing is romantic. Much more so than a text or email. I HATE EMAIL

anyway they have been so MIA.. no real pics or news from the set. It has been forever when we have seen them together. I miss them..

I like the way they are with each other. Very Romantic

Right? They must have been pretty excited to meet a real-life Queen 🙂

      • Andrea1 says:

        Yea its cute 🙂

Can’t you just picture the Empress Z, taking it all in, and seeing it as right and fitting? I’d so dig it if she had a brief phase of carrying a handbag everywhere indoors. What a fab thrill for them all. A genuine queen! (With superpowers, if her front room is anything to go by.)
It’s a shame, just this once, that Buck House staff aren’t dressed like the Swiss Guards at the Vatican……Shiloh and Maddox would have been bursting with glee..
        Smashing interview altogether. 🙂

I really think Brad and Angelina have a very solid, lovely family. They’re a great team and their kids benefit from that. I also agree about the traveling comment also.

    • Andrea1 says:

I agree with you on everything.

I believe Brad is more committed to this marriage because he’s really in love with Angie and his children. IMO, I believe Brad married his x wife to get over goop and he was not really committed as he’s now, I believe he was on the rebound. I remember reading Brad saying he will see how his far his first marriage grows because when it stop growing then the marriage was over. Reading his comments here today he’s saying “I was surprised afterwards at the effect that getting married had on us- it was more than just a ceremony, it meant a real depth of commitment. I feel like a married man”. I also read recently Brad saying he always wanted this life, the life he’s living now. Hi Phool.

I always thought his first marriage was a rebound, too. That marriage made no sense at all, they had zero in common and no chemistry. A very bizarre pairing. This marriage makes sense.

Brad and Angelina are so cute together. And they really do sound like they truly love each other. It’s nice to read about a Hollywood couple that’s actually happy.

Just want to say this all just sounds so lovely (his new favorite word). They keep things low key when they want to. Lunch with the Ambassador is pretty nice and not a soul knew about it. Like his comment about the letters. Happy for him and them. I admire the support they give each other.

  6. Jag says:

Stories about them make me smile. 🙂

Fury is really a great film. I don’t usually watch War movies.. but I do support my Brad. I cried a few times and jumped.. lol

but it was more than a War movie. the relationship and hardship of the men was very moving..

that picture where the Queen is holding the box has me in stitches me every time 🙂
the Queen must’ve done it so many times that it now looks like she’s offering someone a box of chocolate.
“Munchies, yes? the one in the gold foil is very good.”

she just reminds me of my granny. “look what so and so just gave me, here try one.” nevermind that i only just finished the four she pushed on me an hour before that.

Gorgeous interview! He comes across as well spoken and a very happy man. Whats not to love about this couple?
