These are photos from this weekend’s 2015 G’Day USA gala in Hollywood. Chris won the Excellence in Film Award, which was presented to him by his Avengers costar Scarlett Johansson. Chris seemed very pleased to see ScarJo and they posed together for a long time on the red carpet. Such a long time, in fact, that Chris barely had time to pose with Elsa Pataky, his wife. Elsa looked like she was starved for the flash of cameras, right? I do not believe that it was Elsa’s choice to move the family to Australia. That was Chris’s decision, maybe as a way to shortstop Elsa’s fame-hungry ways. Or maybe it’s just because he a grumpy bugger.
As for the ladies’ style, Elsa wore this green Angel Sanchez dress. It’s pretty on her, but I don’t care for that faux-wrap detail in the front, it’s giving her a phantom bump. Scarlett’s dress was Preen and I don’t really care for it. The fringe doesn’t make me think of luxury and quality construction, you know? It’s very “cheap lampshade.” With Scarlett’s really short haircut (which is a relatively new thing, she’s only had that hair for a month or two), I thought she was Elsa in the thumbnails. Elsa’s hair used to be that short, but I guess Elsa is growing her hair out again.
During her speech at the event, ScarJo sort of went on and on about Chris’s hotness, and then when Chris got up there, he said his wife was the best thing that every happened to him, etc. You can read some of their speeches here.
Quick question: why hasn’t Chris Hemsworth had to eat it for the box office failure of Blackhat, plus his crappy attitude towards the press, LA and media in general? It feels like Hemsworth is coasting these days and I can’t really explain how or why there’s residual goodwill towards him.

I wouldn’t mind Scarlett’s dress is the fringe was only at the top, near the neckline. I love that neckline on her. But the fringe near the bottom looks misplaced. Putting aside the dress, she looks stunning, and her muscular back is gorgeous. I never thought she was a raving beauty, but with the shorter hair, I have to say that she is very beautiful.
Elsa’s dress is very pretty. I like the color and the style – it’s refreshingly simple.
I thought they said, “Fringed PEEN.” Whew!

remoras attach themselves to larger fishes so that they can reach a place without swimming and effort. basically, she is getting attention thanks to her husband without doing anything. or at least, that’ s what I got from the comments about her i have read, and they are not exactly wrong!

And I find it SO funny that Chris is (allegedly) anti-paparazzi, yet look who he married. And it’s not like he doesn’t know. Hard to reconcile both images.
I still don’t get how he got away with blowing off promotion for the Thor sequel.
I mean, I understand Marvel letting him off the hook. They’re acutely aware that he doesn’t really add anything to their marketing and I actually suspect they’re quite happy he’s distancing himself from them as he plays the one major character that hasn’t really connected with audiences. The less attention they draw to that the better.
But I don’t understand how his public image didn’t get damaged. Chris Evans got so much flack for being awkward and talking about his passion projects during his Marvel promotional work, but at least he actually showed up. Meanwhile Hemsworth leaves all the heavy lifting to his co-stars and pretty much goes underground for most of the promotional period, and somehow comes out smelling like roses.
What are casting directors seeing in him? He’s handsome, but not spectacularly, uniquely so. He has precious little personality, and what he does have isn’t great. He’s an average actor at best, has almost no range, and has yet to be in a single film where he wasn’t massively outshone by other actors. And to wrap up a bad package, he’s increasingly prissy about promoting his work when he has no right to be. With most actors I can see the appeal even if they don’t appeal to me personally, but Hemsworth (and his brother) I just don’t get.
I legitimately think casting directors/Hollywood are hoping that he’s going to be the new Brad Pitt. They should be looking at Garrett Hedlund and seeing what they can do to make him a mega-star.
I second Garrett Hedlund. He was great in “Unbroken” (very subtle)…and he’s extremely hot. Wow.
I agree with this. I think he got away with not doing his promotional work because Hiddles was so willing. I also think Thor is still a thing because of Loki. He’s the interesting character – not Thor and Jane.

I think his bad attitude might be getting lost in the fact that no one cares, which would go hand in hand with the bombs. He better step it up for marvel this time. I don’t think they’re going to forgive him twice. And he owes his adopted half brother an all expense paid vacation. I will say, I don’t blame him at all for moving away from the paps and Hollywood to raise his family.
Everytime there’s a Chris Hemsworth post I keep wondering ” but, why?”. It was like those Benedict Cumberbach posts for me. They don’t do much for me so I don’t ever click on them unless, of course, I’m absolutely bored to death. Hemsworth doesn’t do mush for me generally but Oh My My!!! He’s a handsome white man in Hollywood, does he really coast more then the others? Does anyone remember when Charliz Theron compared paparazzi to rape? Or even ScarJo, her words about Dylan Farrow/Woody Allen were pretty insensitive IMO, but rarely to do the celebrities have to eat their words.
I don’t thin what Chris said was all that bad, he just seems grumpy in a general sort of way. Which I’ll take any day over Johnny Depp’s increasing ridiculousness, to be honest.
Oh, good. At least you remember. Don’t forget the sodastream fiasco (and the various stories of her being mean to the rest of us “plebes” – at least for her Woody support, most speculate that was her attempt to get in his good graces so he can write her an Oscar-winning role) and Halle Berry running someone over with her car. And of course, the king of assholes himself, Marky Mark who wants to be pardoned for blinding someone and committing other hate crimes. No. He’s forgiven himself so he doesn’t have to apologize to the man or have a pardon on his record.

She does. I know that it is natural for women of very young children to be a bit hyperthyroid and thus skinny for the first year or so after giving birth. This is actually a normal thing for some women.
Then the pendulum swings the other direction and many struggle with the inexplicable sudden and stubborn onset of pounds when the thyroid goes the other way. Then the real work to repair a fatigued metabolism with proper diet (NOT starving) and regular exercise comes in.
She looks lovely and while I agree the dress would be better with simple and clean lines, I jujst love how she is working it.

My guess is Blackhat will be Hemsworth’s rude awakening. It wasn’t just a bomb, it was an outright rejection! I think he jumped the gun thinking he was headed for big things beyond Thor. He will be much more of a dancing monkey for Marvel for this next tour…if he’s smart. Why no backlash? Well none publicly. The guy is bland as heck and a blank slate so not many noticed! Behind the scenes? Who knows?
Blackhat is the result of Hollywood forgetting people still going to see a movie for the story.
I saw the trailer for “Blackhat” when I went to go see “Unbroken” on Christmas–first time I’d heard of it. It looked like they were trying to appeal to the “nerd” and “action-y” demographics….young men? I don’t know. It looked like a movie that I would watch on netflix, not pay to see in theaters. And it looked like a hot mess…..just the trailer itself seemed to try and make it into this supercool, intricate plot, with a super smart bad guy who is also crazy and can fight/shoot a gun really well…just WAY too many things.
First it was Bieber, now it’s Scarlett. B*tches be stealing Miley’s look.

I may possibly be one of the only people on the face of the planet that does not think that Scarlett Johansson is all that attractive. Of course, I readily admit she is likely far more attractive than me (then again, I am 50 years old… LOTS of things are more attractive than me) – but I just never “got” her look or all the hype about it. Nothing against her… I just don’t see it.

She used to look hot IMO, but she’s dead behind the eyes. She has a horrible personality and she’s nowhere near as bright as she thinks she is. She’s going to end up like Brigitte Bardot – hot in her youth, but with age her inner ugliness will begin to show.
We can keep laughing and joking, but by the way Hollywood is grooming Chris, he’s going to get an Oscar for being outshone by Ben Whishaw and Cillian Murphy in “In the Heart of the Sea”.
Like, I get it. He’s gorgeous and people want to watch him, listen to him and drool. But all these awards for acting are taking the p*ss. He’s not even trying! He’s got it, but he doesn’t bring it. When he does interviews and promo, he looks and sounds like it pains him to be there.

I don’t care what anyone thinks I think that Chris Hems and both of his brothers are good actors and have personality its just a very laidback kind of personality (yes i count that as a type of personality). I love watching their interviews and they make me laugh they just don’t try hard to be that funny guy you know. I was a little disappointed by the f-bombs he deployed in his past magazine article. I think that Chris just isn’t used to set backs or the disappointments that come with being in Hollywood like his brother Liam is (because of dropped movies). He probably heard that a movie released in January is a bad omen and bubble over a bit with frustration. The reason that Chris can get away with not promoting the dark world (besides his wife being pregnant) is because even when he’s dropping an F-bomb or asked to comment on something unpleasant he is still radiating a very humble, good guy charm. I think this new frustrated Chris is just a phase and he’ll snap back by the time the Avengers 2 comes out. P.S I LOVE THOR, BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE IMO (don’t understand the hate)
