Taylor Swift made her godson cry when she tried to sing him a lullaby

Let’s do some catch-up on Taylor Swift. There were several stories about her this weekend, including her sold-out concerts at the Staples center in LA. Her friend-collecting truly knows no bounds. Her weekend concerts featured appearances from Mary J. Blige, Sean O’Pry, Chris Rock, Matt LeBlanc, Kobe Bryant, Uzo Aduba and Ryan Tedder. SO MANY FRIENDS. So famous, so popular, so much better than… Katy Perry, amirite? The only one that gave me pause was Kobe Bryant. While Kobe is a God in LA (and he got a great reception from the crowd), do you think it was smart to align herself with Kobe and his issues?

Meanwhile, did you know that Swifty will actually turn down millions of dollars just so she can make babies cry? It’s true.

Taylor Swift proved that she isn’t all about making profits after reportedly turning down the chance to earn $2 million to perform at a wedding. The superstar was allegedly offered a million dollars for each song she chose to perform at a billionaire’s wedding, if she also spent 30 minutes mingling with the bride, the groom and their guests.

However, according to the Sunday Express, Taylor turned down the offer in order to sing for free at the christening of her friend’s baby. The 25-year-old, who has reportedly amassed a £160 million fortune, had understandably chosen to help her close pal Jaime King celebrate the christening of her second child, Leo. Taylor is godmother to the one-month-old tot and she was sure to do her duties and serenade little Leo and all the guests.

A guest told the paper: ‘Taylor arrived with her own music backing tracks and belted out some of her biggest hits, including Love Story, I Knew You Were Trouble and Red. She even rocked little Leo in her arms and hummed a lullaby to him. But he started screaming almost immediately, so she sheepishly handed him back to his mom.’

Actress Jaime, 36, and her husband, Hollywood screenwriter and director Kyle Newman, 39, were described as being ‘deliriously happy’ about Taylor’s ‘sweet gesture’.

The insider continued: ‘You have to admire her for putting friendship ahead of financial considerations. She said no to a small fortune so she could bring happiness to a good friend.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Well, how would it look if she chose money before the squad? In all honesty, she did the right thing – I could see missing a christening or baptism if you were just a guest, but Swifty is the godmother. She really did need to be there. Even if little Leo loathes the sound of her voice.

Swifty also posted this preview of her new music video for “Wildest Dreams,” which will debut on Sunday.

    kids are brutally honest

  2. aims says:

I too want to cry in pain when I hear her sing.

  3. Tiffany says:

The only thing I took from this is Mary J. needs to come out with some new music.

    • word says:

I don’t know, but I honestly don’t think Mary is a good performer when she’s singing live. Sorry don’t hate me for saying what I think lol.

  4. Tilly says:

What is she trying to prove by bringing the likes of Julia Roberts out on stage? It seems … odd.

  5. emmyb1608 says:

Best thing about these pictures is Matt LeBlanc doing a Dad dance, haha!

  6. LadyMTL says:

If she’s a godmother then I would freaking hope that she would show up at the christening. I mean, that’s sort of like the basic minimum requirement of being a godparent, lol.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Lol, I hadn’t thought of that. Even if that’s the only thing you ever do, yeah, the Christening. Sort of a requirement.

      • Betsy says:

My sister is law blew off my son’s baptism last year for the “meh”-iest reasons ever. So… not to some, I guess. : )

  7. Tacos and TV says:

Will this just be our lives forever? TAYLOR SWIFT? I can’t take her anymore. She is overexposed. My favorite Switfy moment was when he was talking to Jay Z and kept saying how they needed to do brunch and kept repeating it and he was ignoring her. 🙂

I think people find her irritating but because she is so hot right now, it’s smart to align with her. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. But I were them, I’d sleep with one eye open.

  8. Neah23 says:

She makes me cry in pain every time I hear one of her songs so I know we’re the baby is coming from.

I wonder the the Nicki Minaj tweeter war was a ploy for her new Video being shown at the VMAs I wouldn’t put it pass Taylor or MTV.

  9. shoochai says:

NO to the bangs, T. Swift.

Also, re: the billionaire’s wedding offer….ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME. 1.) that someone is okay offering that kind of money for a SONG and 2.) that she is loaded enough to turn it down. My mind is a whirl.

  10. mia girl says:

The way she is obsessively collecting famous “friends” and showing us the latest and greatest ones reminds me of how some people collect and show off their beanie-babies or precious moments figurines.
There is something so strange about it.

  11. Nessa says:

Ugh. For someone who is at the absolute top of the game, she still seems so desperate for approval. Why does she have to bring out all these famous “friends” at her shows? True talent doesn’t need a schtick, and that’s what this feels like to me.

  12. Eve says:

Sadly, I felt the baby’s pain when I heard her sing live during her opening monologue on SNL.

“Never again” I said at the time. Never again.

  13. InvaderTak says:

My brother’s cat started “crying” when Tom Petty played. Animals and kids don’t bother to lie people.

  14. Allie says:

No one finds it strange she arrived with her own back tracks (because she can’t sing on her own COUGH COUGH) and she played those songs at a baptism?!

Also, the friend collecting is getting too much. I get bringing up other artists, but random actors and comedians? Why won’t more people call her out on this crap?

  15. Don't kill me I'm French says:

Just a question….does she pay the celebrities to come on stage ?
This tour looks like a ” me and my famous paid friends” tour

  16. someone says:

Not going to lie – my teenage daughters and I love Taylor’s “Wildest Dreams” song. After a month of non stop play on the radio I’m sure we will get tired of it though.

  17. ell says:

i love taylor’s music, but i never like her videos. they’re cheesy. and don’t match her sound.

  18. AG-UK says:

Do not get the appeal but honestly I can’t say I have heard any song as I usually stick to the R/B or indie stations. Her bringing up those people is annoying and yes overexposed.

  19. thaisajs says:

She doesn’t exactly need the money and those kinds of gigs have to be brutal. I’d skip it too to hang out with Jaime King etc.

  20. Mitchie says:

She’s been trying to break into the acting biz., so that would explain Julia Roberts and the other acting people. The musicians are a thinker…, but the Kobe thing is obviously her trying to break into the NBA. She’s tall enough with her heals. Not sure how her ball handling skills are. Probably needs a lot of work, considering. My thoughts are she’s trying to be a Jackie of all trades, but certainly not a master of none…at all!

  21. kri says:

for why does she have one of my goddesses Mary J up there? What witchery is this?! My god, i swea if Missy Elliott appears anywhere near Swifty, i’m getting out the holy water and the salt. Speaking of Missy, when is she coming out w/ her new album so that these toddler in their tiaras and spike heels and their Baby Princess Gangs can be out down for damn nap???

  22. LO says:

Taylor and her “crew” seem so boring and although the christening happened it still sounds like a PR play “she turned down millions to sing for free”
    Ugh. She bothers me.

  23. Zee says:

Y’all know she did this same thing on her last tour, right? She brought out one or more other people at every concert. She seems to be even bigger now in terms of the public (much due to her own doing), but I don’t remember her catching any flack for it on the Red tour, but this time around it’s a horrible thing?

As far as the music biz goes, it’s very smart. She’s giving her fans a surprise so that each show’s attendees feel special because only they got that guest. It also gives her something to post online about for each show and automatic publicity. Really, it’s just all around smart business.

  24. lucy says:

**** and ITA with all of the above!

  25. Savannah says:

Kobe’s “issues”…does that mean the rape case that was thrown out because the accuser informed the DA’s office shortly before trial (therefore she had been cooperating with the investigation prior to this change of heart) that she was no longer willing to testify?

I’m a sexual assault victim, albeit at the hands of my boyfriend at the time. Not one to point the finger at a woman who is coming forward with a rape allegation. That story seemed fishy from the start. And I’m a Blazer fan so this isn’t even about my NBA bona fides….
