The Venice Film Festival started off with a whimper, not a bang, as Everest was the big gala premiere last night. It could have been a good night for fashion, as the film features performances by Keira Knightley, Emily Watson, Robin Wright and Elizabeth Debicki. Unfortunately, NONE of those women came out for the premiere. The men came out (Bedhead covered Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, Jason Clarke), but the most exciting fashion moments came from the ladies on this year’s Venice jury.
Diane Kruger is on the jury this year, because she loves film festivals and she loves getting all dressed up for premieres. She decided to forgo her usual Chanel and went with this… interesting Prada gown. The dress is okay. I like she found the one Prada dress that doesn’t have major darting issues. The dress is way more interesting from the back, though.
Bonus Kruger: She wore this red Cushnie Et Ochs Pre-Fall 2015 jumpsuit to the Opening Dinner event.
Paz Vega wore a Ralph & Russo gown to the Everest premiere. I like this, even though it’s a somewhat boring dress on a somewhat boring person.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen version of Elizabeth Banks’ Dolce & Gabbana gown a million times before. It’s a pretty standard D&G design, although the back is somewhat different. I’m not sure how I feel about that black detail – it makes her look like she’s wearing a mic pack.

I love the cape. I think it’s romantic and pretty on her.
Love it too! I think her gown would be more impressive and ethereal in person.
None of these dresses is a show stopper but at least these ladies didn’t wear another sheer dress with their boobs and butts in our faces.I am not prude but enough with this tacky showgirl trend.
Agreed- the dresses might not be the most edgy out there, but they all look beautiful and elegant.
Second this! Pretty dress, I also like the D&G dress on Elizabeth (minus the black in the back) and I am thrilled to see some elegant, non-see through gowns for once. Hope that trend is dead already:-)
I loved the cape too, more than the dress, but still thought overall she looked great. My favorite dress was Elizabeth’s with all the detailing. Paz looked fab too.
I think it would have been better if the dress OR the cape were embroidered. The cut on the sides of the dress are an interesting detail, but I end up distracted by the clashing beading patterns on the dress vs. cape. I did like her red jumpsuit and I usually loathe those.
Diane is a beautiful woman but this dress doesn’t do it for me
Diane’s dress looks pretty but dull, kinda like her.
I thought Paz Vega was Anne Hathoway in her Oscar gown from 2 yrs ago
I don’t love the dress but I can deal with it on Diane Kruger. But I will say this, Diane Kruger to me, is a style icon. I love the red outfit and she never misses a point when comes to fashion. So she is one of my favorite style icons to me.
I totally agree with you @kiki. I might be the only one here, but I liked her dress, and when I saw her red outfit I swooned over it! She definitely knows what fits her and what she likes, and I appreciate that.
+1. She always looks so effortlessly stunning. #girlcrush
Thay all look very pretty but Diane looks the best!. That dress is DIVINE and she is the most beautiful woman in Hollywood (okay, Angelina is just as beautiful, but Diane’s face is just perfect)
Really? I think Diane is cute, but not that stunning. I was surprised she played Helen of Troy. Saffron Burrows was much more beautiful in Troy.
I was mesmerized by her face as Helen, and then the magic disappeared after seeing her in other films. Everytime I see a picture of her I try to see what I did in Troy, but it’s gone.
Agree to disagree – to me she was more beautiful than ever as Helen of Troy. She’s gorgeous in “Inglorious Basterds” too.
I think Diane looks pretty, but without any makeup/styling, she doesn’t stand out. However, her face is very photogenic, and she’s versatile as an actress. Aristocratic-elegant, or just cold, as well as girl-next-door, or smart and sophisticated- there are a lot of possibilities to transform her type. In Troy, she looked beautiful, but didn’t come over mature enough for that role.
@ Siri: I saw her 3 times on random occasions in Paris and she is just striking! It’s not makeup it’s her! You cannot take your eyes off of her she has an incredible face… while Melanie Laurent (who lives 3 streets away from me) IS all makeup and fluff and is below average girls on the streets…
But diane Krueger is THE incarnation of beauty in real life!
Melanie Laurent I find so interesting and beautiful. She’s striking.
@Franca: interesting ? Sure she is!… Striking? Meh… not in real life she is a mess of bad complexion, inexistent eyebrows, washed out features and fried up and greasy hair! Kudos to her ” beauty team” they do an outstanding job! (crossing her path at least twice a week…)
ps: i used to find her pretty too in magazines
hello Emily Watson was there… poor Emily gets no pictures taken just because she’s a few pounds heavier than a size zero.
I wasn’t crazy about either her floral number or the shiny green evening gown (I’m anti-satin), although the green was a great color for her and the draped neckline was flattering.
The floral was trying too hard. Maybe if the entire dress was all the beige floral, with the hot pink floral for the collar and button placket it would work? Or vice versa, since I think she’d look better in hot pink than the beige, cream, pale melon – whatever color that dress is.
I think she’s done much better, like the short black number from TIFF a few years ago.
Stunnnnniiiiinnnng!!! Ps I want that red jumpsuit
A litte bit disapointed in Elisabeth Banks because she’s almost always intereting and beautifully dressed.
Paz Vega looks the best. Simple, but pretty and elegant.
Elizabeth almost never looks good to me. Her hair is always off. She looks like someone who would rather be in jeans and is just playing dress up.
When I saw Elizabeth’s picture, I couldn’t help but notice that it looked like she had lipstick on her teeth from far away. Of course that might not have been the case, but I sure was looking
gorgeous, all of them.
I like them all! I feel you on the black material in the back of the dress, though. If it had been red, I would have loved it.
Paz Vega is slaying her. I think Diane’s dress looks frumpy from the front. This is a girl whose career and festival appearances are enhanced because she loves nothing more than showing up in a fancy dress and being photographed. Take away the red carpet appearances from the past decade and think about it.
I hate capes but Diane managed to make it look good. Her red outfit is just awesome: beautiful, classy, sexy and original.
Paz Vega looks very clean and fit, which are the best of looks to me.
The other one is just meh.
First time in a LOOONNNGGG time that I unequivocally see it for Diane Kruger (and her fug Fashions) this is actually a Nice fit, pretty, not wackadoodle or strange
Rumor has it: Diane Kruger and Josh Jackson don´t live together, their relationship is over and they´re just keeping up a facade with occasional public appearances.
Thoughts?
