Sandra Bullock in J. Mendel at the ‘Our Brand Is Crisis’ premiere: cute or fug?

As I mentioned in a previous post, George Clooney and Amal Clooney kind of stole Sandra Bullock’s thunder at her own premiere! These are photos from the LA premiere of Our Brand Is Crisis last night. Sandra is the star, George is the producer, and all of the headlines this morning are about George and Amal rather than Sandra and her movie. Which… if we’re being honest, might have been intentional. The reviews coming out of TIFF were not good. It’s got a 44% on Rotten Tomatoes.

As for Sandra’s look… it was fine. It’s a fresh-off-the-runway J. Mendel and it’s okay. Not crazy-awesome but very far from “bad.” I prefer Sandra in simple, clean designs and I would still love to see her develop a relationship with Narciso Rodriguez or someone like that. Sandy walked the carpet solo, posed briefly with her friend Billy Bob Thornton (more on BBT in a moment), and then Sandra was spotted leaving the premiere afterparty with her (shady?) boyfriend Bryan Randall – go here to see those photos. I want to believe Sandra has better taste in men these days, but this guy pings my radar.

As for BBT, he arrived at the premiere wearing cords, cowboy boots, sunglasses and a sleeveless shirt. Because… he’s Billy Bob and what did you expect? I’ve been thinking about BBT a lot lately because of Fargo Season 2. I’m enjoying Season 2, but I miss what Billy Bob brought to Season 1. So, yes, I miss Billy Bob. He’s a great actor and I wish he would work more in better projects. He attended this premiere with his wife Connie Angland.

Sandra also joked with People Magazine about how she and BBT have been friends for years and how “everyone thinks he wants to kill you. Like, he looks at you as if he wants to take a, what is it, a shank? What is that knife they make in prison?” But she says he’s just a sweetheart, and he says the same about her.

Eh, nice enough. Not outstanding, but not at all bad either.

  2. Capepopsie says:

Sandra could wear a Brown paperbag
    And still look great!

  3. Caro says:

She looks great, and the overly botox/filler look is wearing off. I like when her hair is tousled and softer it makes her face look less narrow and sharp.

Eye makeup is gorg, and I love the dress.

She’s another huvane (kevin) client that has always been so much prettier than Aniston.

I feel this movie will bomb however. It may come in 2 or 3 just because there’s a lot of other pure craaahp out there. Its why the Martian is still number one in several markets.

  4. Tiffany says:

I still want to see this movie. Eh.

Also, Billy Bob show be 50 shades of embarrassed. There has to be some stipulations for the red carpet, right? If I was a studio head, I would be pissed.

  5. Kitten says:

The cut of that dress isn’t flattering at all but I think her makeup and hair look great.

    • Kosmos says:

I love Sandra, but I’m not loving that dress or the color on her. She usually wears something simple but really nice fitting that brings out her color. This dress is too dull for her, and I don’t care for the cut outs either, so Meh…..

As a South American woman I absolutely detest this movie. So sick of us being portrayed as this underdeveloped, poor people incapable of making any progress without the help of the generous, ever-loving and well intentioned white folk of the USA.

But that’s not even the worst part of it. This is based on a true story. The actual candidate Sandra’s character is supporting is a well known son of a bitch who left Bolivia in ruins and murdered thousands. He had to flee the country and seek asylum in the USA because he fucked up so bad. But he was an American ally, so obviously he’s gonna be portrayed as a caring and good candidate.

For all people who will see this movie: Don’t buy a single word of it. This is the USA’s glossed over, completely fictionalized version of what happened. The acual story was bloody, dirty and terrible and, believe me: Bolivia does N-O-T appreciate what the USA did to them.

most people here don’t realize they live in a propaganda all their lives

    • I thought it looked like a hot mess (as bad as Sandra’s hair in the movie)….but thanks for this, because I now know I’m definitely NOT EVER going to see it.

And BBT looks effing embarrassing…..there’s a difference between dressing casually but still “fashionable”…..and not looking like you threw on something that’s been on the floor of your bedroom for a week.

    • Had a thought–I watched the trailer a couple of months ago, don’t remember the two main characters names, and for some reason think that George Clooney is IN the movie, but I don’t think he is??? Anyway…….

It would’ve been interesting if they’d made the film by having a scene set in present day, of them talking about this candidate that they helped, and what they thought he was going to do (plus him being an American ally) versus what he actually did, and then have the main section of the film as an extended flashback sequence. I think that would be interesting and different. IT doesn’t seem like ‘murica really acknowledges all the bs that we did to other countries in the name of spreading democracy/lower oil prices (or whatever background deals are made to get ‘Murican allied SOBs in office) and ‘Murican values……….

I honestly know nothing about the politician portrayed in the movie. Was he a right winger? I’m taking a stab in the dark as most of the dictators who are/were our allies are right wingers. Knowing Clooney’s lefty politics I would be surprised if this guy is shown in a favoranle light. I guess I’ll see Friday.

  7. SusanneToo says:

She looks great. I’m going to see the movie this Friday. I like SB in almost anything. And BBT is a great actor, but perhaps a little try hard for the oddball title.

  8. Christin says:

She looks great. The dress is so-so, mainly due to the cut combined with the busy print.

  9. Jayna says:

I think she looks great. There’s a photo with her boyfriend. They were leaving the premiere together, I think, or going in after she finished the red carpet. I’m not sure, but he was in a suit.

Billy Bob had an eating disorder many, many years ago. He once talked about having suffered from anorexia. He looks sickly thin again to me. Maybe it’s just his jeans are too big and are hanging on him. I don’t know . Nonetheless, he looks horrible in his outfit. I can’t believe he attended a premiere dressed like this.

  10. Wentworth Miller says:

She looks cute. Her dress looks like a Rachel Zoe dress.
The old guy looks…, old. Meh!

  11. Molly says:

I am just thankful not to look at another photo of those awful bangs. This hair is sooooo much more flattering than that harsh, flat ironed, pulled drapes look you kept posting for a while.

  12. tealily says:

I love it on her, actually! I think she looks fantastic.

  13. Able says:

I actually love this dress and love it on her, along with her hair. Beautiful and feminine and flowy.

  14. Nikki says:

I don’t think the dress is very attractive, but she sure is. She is GLOWING and gorgeous. Great makeup.
