Jennifer Lawrence in red Dior at the Golden Globes: flattering or fug?

FFN_KM_GoldenGlobes_PR_011016_51943833

Controversial opinion: I hated Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior gown this year. I get that she’s the hottest actress out there and of course she’s paired with the most elite design house in the world, but I don’t think Dior has done her many favors over the years. This is a good example of that. My thought is that it was an either/or situation: Dior could have done the retro “shift” top part and no cut-outs, or they could have done cut-outs without the shelf top. Putting both together on what amounts to column dress was a mistake. I also thought the neckline was too high on her, which was made worse by the diamond bib necklace – she was going for “long-necked swan” but it has an ostrich effect. One good thing: she didn’t fall! She also won Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical for Joy, beating her BFF and co-presenter Amy Schumer. Like Ricky Gervais said, it’s like neither of them has ever had a friend before.

As for Amy Schumer, she wore this Prabal Gurung. I mean… I ended up feeling sorry for a little bit? I don’t mean that in a condescending way at all. It was a big night for her, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for a film role – her first film role! – and she wanted to look Golden-Globe-appropriate. She didn’t want to look like a “trainwreck.” I like that she took it seriously, it’s just that she veered too far and ended up looking dowdy. Like, I could see this on a GOP wife. So… I’ll give her credit for actually trying and taking it seriously, but next time, she should have some fun with it. Last thing: enough with the “raunchy” act on the red carpet. We’ve already heard you say “vagina” like a million times.

  1. Kate says:

I actually love the dress. It’s exactly the kind of thing she should be wearing more often.

The necklace was a huge mistake though, ruined the whole look.

    • Locke Lamora says:

Yeah, me too. The dress is nice, the necklace is awful. The hair wasn’t great either. This is the second best Dior dress she’s ever worn ( the sprkly one she wore to the SAGs a few years ago was the best).

I though JLaw and ASchu were very awkward while presenting. Queen Latifah’s face summed it up.

And in the press room Jennifer was rude to a foreign reporter. Again.

      • Kate says:

Well, he was messing with his phone and didn’t even know which awards show he was at. I think she was pretty gentle with the guy really, she just made a few jokes. He still got a chance to ask his question, unfortunately for him doing so highlighted his incompetence.

      • Locke Lamora says:

He asked her of she was preparing for the Oscars, he didn’t think they were at the Oscars. And you could hear he was struggling with the language, so God knows what he was using his phone for. And even if he was rude, she didn’t have to be rude too. Her jokes came of as condescending.

      • Esther says:

her actions in the pressroom where really mean and lots of people online are calling her out on it. that men was talking to a woman way more powerful to him in a language that isnt his own and she is snarky to him.

      • SugarQuill says:

Um, why exactly should it matter whether it was a foreign reporter or not? Since the Q&A part in the press room is a given at this sort of event, I doubt that the network/paper/media outlet would send a reporter that does not have a relatively good grasp of the English language. And the questions are mostly run-of-the-mill, so I doubt that there’s much preparation to be done on your phone. I haven’t seen the video of Jennifer’s interaction with the reporter, only a transcript of it, so I’m not sure what the tone of her remarks was like, but as of right now, I’m team no one. The reporter shouldn’t have been looking at his phone, but Jennifer’s comments don’t really seem all that bad to me.

      • Esther says:

because he could have looked up the questions to be sure what to ask her. its the Hollywood Foreign Press. its really uncool to be a dick to someone who speaks a foreign language. especially if you are only mono lingual like Jennifer is.

      • K says:

Her dress was fine not great but not the worst of the night, her hair and make up was horrible. Amy and Jenn tried way way to hard when they presented it was sad. I thought Amy looked nice, didn’t love it but I appreciated she took it seriously and tried. She needs to stop with the gross stitk.

Jenn’s behavior with the report behind the scenes was deplorable! She was rude condescending and it was embarrassing. The media should be calling out what a horrific intolerant brat she was. That man clearly was struggling with the language, he was probably using his phone for notes and it was obvious he was trying to ask if he thought this helped her for the Oscar. Sorry but Jennifer is just classless and you don’t mock people struggling with your language it’s horrible.

I hope she remembers she is like 3-5 years from being to old for Davis O Russell to cast or for Weinstein to want to sleep with and then what? She’ll just be the rude girl who mocks non English speaking reporters. I’m seriously horrified by that behavior and after that can’t wait until they throw her away like Gretchen Mol.

      • SamLT says:

According to another foreign reporter in the press room that guy was taking photos/video of JLaw while asking the question not using his phone as backup for questions or translation. Quite frankly I though he was just fanboying in a professional environment and got caught.

      • perplexed says:

Isn’t it possible he could have been taking photos for the publication with his phone though? I imagine if you’re a journalist you can’t live without your phone since they’re like computers now. Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t write for a living so she probably doesn’t get that the phone can be used for other things besides texting.

      • Alex says:

People are saying he was filming and taking photos. Press sends photographers I doubt they want a cell phone photo for their publication. That’s why there’s a pit for photogs in the back

      • V4Real says:

I like JLaw but stop giving her a pass for her bad behavior. She was rude and classless for doing that. Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade.

      • perplexed says:

If that’s the case, then I don’t get why her commentary doesn’t relate to him filming and taking photos — she made it sound like he wasn’t paying proper attention to her and the proceedings, and scolded him like she was a 50 year old schoolteacher. She also misunderstood the question about the Oscars, and rather than ask him to clarify, she assumed he was mistaking the Golden Globes for the Oscars. I finally saw the video on The Daily Mail, and she did seem kind of rude.

      • Rockin Robin says:

Very rude. Not cute at all.

      • Lambda says:

He was struggling with the language? Really? Then he shouldn’t have been there. And also be professional and memorize your questions, if that’s what he was using his phone for.

      • perplexed says:

It’s the Hollywood Foreign Press that hosts the awards, so I don’t know if it’s a requirement that the default language be English.

However, when I watched the video, I thought he sounded fine when he put forward his question. The problem is that Jennifer Lawrence interrupted his question, and didn’t understand what he was asking because she jumped in before he could finish.

      • Original T.C. says:

Agree, second best Dior dress she’s ever worn. It’s appropriate and young.

      • SloaneY says:

The guy sounded nervous. English is obviously not his first language. And if he was videoing perhaps it’s because he’s a REPORTER and was taping so that when he went back to write he could take direct quotes. She interrupted his question and assumed he was a rude dingbat.
Instead she looked like the rude dingbat. She seemed drunk or high all night too.
When is she going to be done with her 15 minutes??

      • WTW says:

I’m a reporter. I’m fluent in English, and there are still times publications want me to ask questions, record footage and take pics with my phone, even if they’ve sent a photographer as well. This reporter was likely using his phone for work.
I tolerated J.Law before this episode, but she came across as a rude and ignorant brat. It made me think that even the more down-to-home, fun-loving celebs are just as entitled as everyone else.
Don’t know why she assumed this man was texting his girlfriend or something. There are also times when I’ve been at events and had to communicate with editors who weren’t there via phone. This is quite commonplace.

      • V4Real says:

@Lambda who said “He was struggling with the language? Really? Then he shouldn’t have been there. ”

Well it is called The Hollywood Foreign Press; just saying.

And even people who are fluent in English and professional at what they do at times have stumbled over words. And she interrupted him as well. She was rude no matter how you try to dress it up.

      • Lambda says:

Nope, still unacceptable and unprofessional. It is what it is, and even at Cannes or Berlin or Venice, the language of conversation is English. And we’re not quite sure he was struggling with the language, no? He can’t be bothered to memorize a string of 15 words or so? Even stammering English would be better than reading from a phone or whatever. Be polite and make eye contact, you dolt. But if anything I fault his boss more than the guy himself.

      • Ash says:

I’m friends with a sports reporter. One time I asked him what kind of recording device I should purchase when doing interviews. I used to have one of those old school mini-tape recorders. Anyway, he seemed taken aback by my question and just told me that he records interviews with his smartphone. Also, he uses his phone to write down notes from the interview.

I’m guessing that that’s why the reporter (in this scenario) was checking out his phone.

      • Lary says:

        http://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/news/a52027/jennifer-lawrence-reporter-call-out-golden-globes/

Read this story before assuming things. Basically a reporter who was in the room explains what happens- she wasn’t rude, the guy laughed too, wasn’t that big of a deal.

      • taxi says:

I watched the video. She (rightly, imo) called him out for using his phone instead of paying attention to his questions to her. Interviewers are supposed to focus on the celeb when they’re asking questions. His English was fine & he did say “Oscars” instead of “GG” or HFPAA.

    • Ankhel says:

+ 1 on the red dress, it’s elegant but young and bold. I only wish she’d swapped the necklace for a bracelet or two.

    • LadyMTL says:

ITA, I thought the dress was great. The hair and the necklace were a miss, but the dress itself was awesome.

    • Alex says:

I don’t really love the dress. But it may be the styling that makes me not love it. For some reason Jen dresses great for movie premieres and awards season her stylists drop the ball (minus her 2013 winning awards season).

Her scolding the reporter? Well it wasn’t mean and he was on his phone. I find being on a phone rude as well

      • Bae says:

Maybe he was reading the question from the phone? Or using a translater? He was struggling with English. But even if he was rude, did she have to be too? Could she be gracious, just for once? She was rude to a foreign reporter when AH won best ensamble a few years ago too.
Also, how lovely of her to want to be burried next to a rage monster who molested a member of his own family.

      • Alex says:

She’s dealt with foreign reporters before none of them were on their phone. All I’m saying is when you’re standing up there and all you see is someone on their phone it seems rude.

    • Mgsota says:

+1. I love the dress, so different and cool but her hair is terrible.

    • I Choose Me says:

I love it! Including the necklace. One of my fave looks of the night.

    • layla says:

LOVE the dress. HATE the styling.

    • Pandy says:

I didn’t see the dress until today but did see the necklace last night. I really liked it. Like the dress a lot too. The necklace isn’t as sparkly in photos as it was on her. Amy’s is dull.

    • Sarah(too) says:

Agree. Lose the necklace, but I loved the dress.

    • sunglasses aready says:

Love the dress and necklace. Makes a statement.

  2. Greenieweenie says:

I kinda love JLaw’s dress. Imagine it on Sienna Miller. It has edge.

    PS–is Amy’s supposed to be trompe l’oeil?

    • qwerty says:

That’s cause Sienna has edge. JLaw looks like a soccer mom, again. And the freaking eyebrows…

  3. Dani2 says:

I don’t even think it’s that controversial – Jennifer’s dress isn’t that great and although I normally like her, I can’t stand her and Amy Schumer together – I don’t find them funny or cute or relatable, just pretty annoying, I like her relationship with Emma Stone and Adele a LOT more.

  4. Palar says:

Whatever Amy has got going make up wise under her eyes was a bad move.

    • Dani2 says:

Yeah I was trying to figure out what it was about her make up that I didn’t like but I think that’s it, I just feel like whoever does her make up either a) doesn’t care b) hates her or c) isn’t that great of a make up artist. I don’t care much for her personality but Trainwreck was a pretty good movie imo and she was great in it, and I know she’s not the most conventionally attractive person but nobody will look great with badly applied make up, I just feel like her make up looks could be way better.

      • Kate says:

Honestly, her features sort of limit what an MUA can do. She has very, very small features on quite a large face. Because of that her red carpet make-up often looks overdone, but also too restrained. Rumer Willis had the same issue before she had plastic surgery.

You have to do something a little unusual to balance those things, and it seems like Amy is surprisingly conservative when it comes to bold make-up and fashion in general. The other option is to simply keep it very natural, but of course people like to get all done up for these things.

      • QQ says:

Kate, I Think You Nailed The Amy Makeup quandary, I Like her and all But her lips and eyes are indeed damned near elfin and hard to do too much to? Also Idk but comparing to some stuff she’s worn (actually double cause this goes to J.Law too) This isnt Bad….Not Outstanding But not at all a sh!tshow, in fact is a good thing to not blow their load before Oscars, fashionwise

    • Alex says:

The makeup and he hair was a no. And them presenting together was just terrible. If this is an indication of their movie I’ll skip and I say this as a J Law fan

  5. Boston Green Eyes says:

I came here specifically to say how beautiful JLaw looked. I just love this girl. I know there are haters on here, but she’s one Hollywood actress with whom I’d love to spend a day with.

  6. ichsi says:

Love J-Law’s dress, she looks stunning in it.

  7. Belle says:

I guess no award season is complete without an award for Jlaw whether she/film is good. One nice thing, i like the color but that’s about it.

  8. Khadija says:

I actually lol at Ricky’s comment because it was spot on, but I have to disagree.. I actually like this dress. This is the only Dior dress that she has worn that actually looks good on Jennifer.

Amy looks a mess and I dont feel sorry for her at all.

  9. ell says:

is it me or so many dresses were SO boring and uninspired?

    • vauvert says:

Yes. They were. Only a few good looks and I didn’t think JLaw was one of them. And I can’t stand Amy but even trying to be objective, if you present with an elfin slim girl, and you are not, being swathed in a huge pile of fabric won’t help. And I know she gets called “pretty” which IMO she is not, and neither is she funny with the stupid language anymore.

    • Rockin Robin says:

The most boring batch of dresses ever.

  10. littlemissnaughty says:

They both look good although Jennifer’s shoes are a little questionable. As is the necklace. But what’s a red carpet if we can’t complain? I actually think Amy’s dress is great, it suits her. The top looks a bit wrinkled but that’s probably the fabric.

  11. minxx says:

I like it a lot though it could have been fitted better for her, Seems too big. But the cut and colour are fantastic on her. I like the hair and makeup too.

  12. HollandW says:

I thought she looked lovely also (Jennifer that is). I can’t even hate on the cut outs. Not really a fan of the shoes though.

  13. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Ew to that dress, one of those tragedies where you think something looks good till you scroll down.

  14. AmyL says:

If the dress had been black, the necklace might look better.

  15. Naddie says:

Apart from the matronly necklace, the dress is creative and the color is just stunning. But this hair… don’t really like it all so up and tight, it ages her.

  16. Mandy says:

I loved her dress and thought she looked amazing. I was disappointed she won again. At this point I think the globes would give her the award if she stared in Friday the 13th part 20.
Amy usually makes me laugh but I just didn’t get their routine last night. They weren’t funny and even though I believe their friendship is real, it seemed so forced last night. I used to find Jennifer so enduring but it’s worn off for me.

  17. vanessa says:

the dress is very beautiful, the styling is awful as usual. she looks like she is in her 30s

    • seesittellsit says:

Totes agree – basic idea good, execution of same, awful, and it easily aged her 10-15 years.

  18. Bee says:

Their intro was painful to watch. Hopefully that isn’t a preview of their movie together.

  19. CornyBlue says:

These people were so up the ass about Vikander and Mara comminting category fraud and yet Joy is a comedy. Anyway nice gown. Globes felt underwhelming this year. She and Schumer need to break up.

  20. Sez says:

I think my issue is only that the cut-outs are too low?? As in the come too far down the hip? Other than that I can live with it though it does feel like a re-work of what she wore to the Met Gala this year plus the red column she wore the year she was nominated for American Hustle… so you know.. yawn.

  21. Kate says:

I liked the dress but I was really frustrated with JLaw last night. Her over the top (and clearly on purpose) tribute to David O’Russell during her speech was really sad and gross. That man is an abuser and it’s like she thinks it’s hilarious. Then she was nasty to that reporter in the press room. I just don’t know what’s going on with her but it’s a serious turn off.

    • Jib says:

What’s going on with her recently?? She has always been a rebel and had terrible judgement. She is crass and immature and uneducated, and it is really starting to show. Her remark about her “slutty power lesbian” style would have gotten most actresses crucified, but she gets a pass, over and over.

I can’t wait until she is too old for Russell to cast her, which should be in about two years. I wish she would just shut her offensive mouth and go away.

  22. leigh says:

Please god send Amy Schumer a stylist and MUA that know how to work with someone that isn’t a size 2. Her makeup is almost always terrible and her clothes almost always actually work against her.

  23. Don't kill me I'm French says:

Lawrence’s necklace is a mistake but her look is okay even if I disliked it during the tv award

  24. Chloe says:

Love Jennifer’s dress, the hair and necklace not so much. I was cringing when they presented together, it wasn’t funny.

  25. kri says:

Jlaw’s dress is good for Dior. I kinda like it. Amy…oh, man. I agree with all of you about her makeup. Oy. I also think if she had gone for a dress with just a bit of edge it would have been much more interesting.

  26. mp says:

Amy Schumer, like Bryce Dallas Howard, probably struggles to find a stylist who can find cute high fashion stuff for size >6. For the “bigger” girls (and she and Bryce are not even) it seems to be slim pickings. Considering this, I actually thought she looked pretty good!

  27. Karen says:

    I hated the dress.

The fact that Joy mighty not make it to the Oscars, and this might be one of the final awards for her (that she’s nor a presenter) Dior could have been kind and opened the VAULTS. Put her in anything vintage.

The house barely makes anything that is “Dior” anymore. It’s styled as plainly, and fits as bad as Stella McCartney. Shame.

  28. Tig says:

I would have liked the dress more w/o cut outs and sans necklace. Red is a great color on her- she should wear it more often. Amy S’ dress was way too much fabric. Does Amy S/JLaw remind anyone else of Fergie and Princess Di back in the day? Like those two, they seem to bring out the worst in each other. Someone texted me that last night, and couldn’t help agreeing. Maybe GG should be like pro stadiums and cut off the alcohol at the start of the 4th qtr-LOL!!

    • Div says:

Agree. I like Jennifer and Amy but together they are way too much. I don’t know anyone who found that intro funny and it seemed like most of the people on twitter hated it even if some of the media thought it was great. I’m whatever on cussing but Amy’s c word is way too far for me. I realize it has different connotations abroad but in America it’s generally seen as worse than saying fuck.

The reporter thing with Jennifer made me cringe too. It’s 2016 and reporters often take notes or record on IPads or IPhones and I’ve seen people use them in other business situations too. My friend basically uses her IPad mini for all her business needs. It may be irritating but it’s the new norm and he clearly wasn’t using it to play candy crushes or text. Plus, he clearly had a heavy accent and was trying to formulate his words in the correct manner and it came across as mean and not funny.

I’m dreading the press tour for the film they wrote together because because I want to keep liking them but they make it hard when they are together.

      • Esther says:

the press tour certainly will be entertaining in terms of who annoying they will be and when the general public will turn on them for that.

      • Ash says:

“The reporter thing with Jennifer made me cringe too. It’s 2016 and reporters often take notes or record on IPads or IPhones and I’ve seen people use them in other business situations too.”

Exactly. I made a similar remark on this page. Reporters use their smartphones for the mic and note taking capabilities. That’s the way of their business now.

      • kate says:

Reporters don’t record these particular interviews since it’s already being filmed. It would be a total waste of time since everyone will have access to the crystal clear footage. If you take notes (which again, most reporters don’t since this isn’t a proper interview that requires detailed observations, they’re just there for the soundbites), you do so AFTER the interview is over. They have time for that between winners coming and going.

The other reporters have said the guy was photographing her (again, reporters don’t do that in this situation) and generally being annoying and distracting the whole day, they also were the ones laughing at her jokes. If other reporters thought she was justified calling him out I’m not really sure how/why non-reporters would have a problem with it?

  29. SugarQuill says:

The dress itself is nice enough, I don’t actively hate it. However, the top part of the dress combined with the necklace and the terrible hair is giving me all sorts of Barbara Bush vibes. Maybe it would have looked better if JLaw had kept the bob that she had previously on the press tour. It might have offset the dowdiness of the necklace.

  30. Argirl says:

Eh, I thought Jen looked great. Loved her whole look. Amy looked dowdy. Their award presentation was awkward and not funny.

  31. lucy2 says:

Don’t care for either dress, though Dior has put Jennifer in worse.
I saw Joy yesterday, and she was good in it, but I’m thinking there were other performances that were more award worthy.

  32. Angie says:

People need to stop acting like she wasn’t disrespectful, rude and down right mocking that reporter. Those people usually have their questions on some type of device or paper- she needs to hop off her high horse.

I was a sort of indifferent fan but now I’m just grossed out by her antics and try hard skits to appease the public.

    • K says:

Her behavior with the reporter was inexcusable. Inexcusable.

    • Kate says:

They do, but they check their notes BEFORE the interview starts. This guy was the only one messing around with his phone.

It’s not like this was a long one on one interview. If the guy was lucky he’d get to ask one question. He couldn’t memorise a couple of simple options?

Reporters also don’t record or photograph these things, as they’re already being recorded and heavily photographed. If he was photographing her, which his colleagues say he was, he was doing so for his own purposes, which is insanely rude and the kind of thing that gets you throw out.

  33. Wentworth Miller says:

Love the dress hate the clunky shoes and necklace.

  34. perplexed says:

I think she looks like a real movie star now — before, I thought she looked more like an ingenue, but now she seems to fit in with the A-list crowd.

Amy Schumer’s dress made her look bigger than she actually is. In other outfits, she has looked much slimmer. She’s more normal-sized than “big.”

Does anyone have video of Jennifer talking to the reporter?

  35. HeyThere! says:

Does anyone have a link to a video of the rude reporter thing? Or, just of the transcript of the conversation, please??

    • CornyBlue says:

      It is in variety.

      • anna says:

Variety has a short clip. But the video is longer and she isn’t rude

      • CornyBlue says:

Well yes. The part she calls out the reporter is very rude. The others not really but i felt like her jokes were not landing last night. The extended video is in youtube.

      • arbelia says:

She was indeed rude and condescending. I like her but she was really disrespectful with that reporter, who was probably just translating hs questions into english.

      • Nicole says:

Well there are other reporters saying they found the guy distracting and that she wasn’t rude. Personally I found the reaction tame. People are acting like she chewed the guy out.

      • CornyBlue says:

Well guess it depends on what you want to see because i have also seen reports that the guy was using the translator and it was giving out nonsensical results so he was struggling with the framing. But stan goggles i guess.

  36. TwistBarbie says:

J-Law’s dress is actually amazing, but she lacks the grace and elegance to pull it off. Oh, and the shoes are hideous.

  37. Elle says:

I didn’t like the dress or her hair. I just really prefer her hair down. And the dress just didn’t seem flattering..a bit boxy and the neckline was strange.. She’s lovely though. I laughed out loud when she told David O Russell she wants to be buried next to him. He had such a serious face on all evening, but was wearing her bold lipstick mark on his face after she won. Funny.

  38. JudyK says:

Jennifer Lawrence was exquisite last night–and classy…can’t say the same for Amy. She gets on my last nerve.

  39. Zigggy says:

Am I the only one who thinks Amy is totally overrated and not funny?

  40. AlmondJoy says:

Hmm it wasn’t her best look but also not her worst. Kinda blah I guess. I’m just glad she didn’t trip or fall again’

  41. Nikki says:

I liked J Law’s dress a lot. I am now sadly aware that I must have no taste, but I liked the necklace too. I thought it showcased her elegant long neck, and added cling and sparkle to a diff, geometric dress. I like her makeup and especially her hair. Amy’s outfit seems very old-fashioned to me, and not as flattering as s sleeker design either.

  42. Quinn says:

Amy’s dress looks like they found it in a box labeled “Pretty in Pink- Prom Scene”. Lord. 🙁

I personally hate cutouts in a dress…but Jennifer’s dress fits well. I’m not overwhelmed by her look, though.

  43. Tallia says:

I liked JLaw’s dress and the necklace was fine. I thought it was elegant and not too flashy. I preferred it to some of the try hard dresses on the carpet. Amy’s dress look liked it was created during a Project Runway’ challenge and completed minutes before she walked out. Where is Tim Gunn when you need him?

  44. Sandy says:

Her face looks totally different to me. She’s starting to have the blank Kardashian face, which is not to say she doesn’t look good, but she doesn’t look like her (old) self!

  45. KBeth says:

I thought they both looked matronly.

  46. FF says:

Liked Jennifer’s dress. Don’t care for her attitude.

Even if the reporter was fanboying there’s a way to get the exact point across without being catering to the asshole component in the room; whether she was making a valid point or not she looks obnoxious af. And not for the first time.

Don’t care about Schumer or her looks.

  47. SloaneY says:

Did anyone else think Jlaw was pretty drunk last night, even on the red carpet before the ceremony? She seemed to be concentrating very hard on the questions and gave very simplistic answers.

    • perplexed says:

She seemed kind of over the whole Golden Globes experience — like maybe she didn’t take the current award she got any more seriously than Ricky Gervais does.

I don’t know how actors are usually in the press room, but I was kind of surprised at how tired and unexcited she seemed in the press room after the Golden Globes. Usually 25 year old actors seem over the moon to be at these things, but she seemed a bit weary after winning. Maybe she’s too used to winning now…

      • Guest says:

That happens when people are ass kissing and turning her into America’s sweetheart. I am so over this girl. I call her girl because she certainly never behaves like a grown up woman. I will never unterstand the hype around her. There are tons of young actresses better than her and she was turned into the best paid actress because Hollywood desperately needed an oh so sweet next door girl, a sweet American one…. And yes I have watched her movies. No. Still do not get the hype.

    • Jib says:

I happen to think she’s drunk a lot at these things, thus the falling. As a previous alcohol abuser myself, that’s my take on her. I think she is a bit of a lush.

  48. Sam says:

The best thing for Jennifer Lawerence to do is to run away from Amy Schumer. That woman is not funny and it’s like her personality is a disease that is slowly but surely infecting Jennifer. Like isn’t Amy Schumer the same woman who 6 months ago made fun of girls like Jennifer and Blake Lively and when no one found it funny she was like “Oh I bet Blake’s never even seen the skit.” No we all saw it but it’s not funny because you so badly want to be them that you make fun of them. Hence why Amy is now BFFs with Jennifer. Let’s stop trying to make Amy happen. If their act is going to continue they can both go far away and not come back.

    • Bridget says:

So you’re actually going with the “Amy’s just jealous” argument? Like, women can’t possibly be motivated by anything other than petty jealousy of other women? Well, that and baby-fever.

      • Sam says:

I didn’t say that was her motivation. Her motivation is so her basic self can stay relevant. So she uses other famous people for the butt of her jokes to grab attention to herself. Like I said it was only this past summer when she was making fun of girls like Jennifer Lawrence and now they’re best friends. Yea sure okay.

  49. Carmen says:

    I’ve seen worse.

  50. Moon says:

I love this dress on her (Jlaw), to me she was the best dressed of the night!

    Amy looks awful.

  51. Grant says:

I think JLaw looks awesome. She positively radiates in red and I love her shoes.

  52. rudy says:

    Love the dress
    Love her.

  53. Crumbedtofu says:

My dislike of her as an actress aside, she looks great but was super awkward during her speech. Stream of consciousness isn’t a good thing.

  54. Marianne says:

I thought Jennifer’s dress was beautiful. I think I would preferred it without the cut-outs but I still think she looked gorgeous in it.

  55. La La Land says:

Wow. I know this is a fashion op thread … but I can NOT believe the praise these two are getting on here. What is with some … MANY of you ladies? Not trying to pick a fight/argue. But honies.

Whether their couture looked crappy (true that), they. were. awful… their movies were/are awful. But then, they’ve been overrated for a couple of years now. BOTH of them.

Moreover, there are far more talented and FUNNY women as actors in this business than the likes of JTurtleFace and AmyOinkOink. Very immature for a forty something year old to talk like this. But I am so sick of seeing this as lauded as quality. I watched the YT vids (definitely not the GG on TV) and Queen L said it all with that face. She was being very polite, but in her ‘hood’, they’d get their asses beat for wasting people’s time trying to be funny. Lame out the ayaass.
    Ahem, just my three cents:)

  56. What's inside says:

Amber heard was wearing the dress that Jennifer Lawrence should have been wearing IMHO. The necklace was not right, her makeup and hair made her look a decade older, and I vote for a new stylist STAT.

  57. JoJo says:

JLaw and actually most of the cast of American Hustle did the exact same thing at last year’s Golden Globes’ press room. JLaw, BCoop, Michael Pena and others from the cast were so blatantly rude and immature – basically like high schoolers trying to be cool – to the foreign press reporters. It was equal parts disgusting and embarrassing and made me look at them all differently. Hard to do for me since I tend not to care what celebs do in their personal lives. The only one who looked completely mortified by their behavior and stepped up to answer questions professionally was Amy Adams – class act.

As for Amy Schumer, I don’t at all get what is funny about her. Just being a woman who blurts out words like “v” and “c” for shock value doesn’t make you funny. Same as Chelsea Handler – although they have different styles of humor, I never found her funny either. Same thing – simply being sarcastic and insulting – and a woman – doesn’t make you funny.

    • perplexed says:

Oh yeah, you’re right! I just remembered how J-Law and Michael Pena acted. Amy Adams was the only one that came across as polite, and I think the reporter even requested that she answer the question since the rest were idiots.

    • Jellybean says:

I actually watched that video again recently and I agree that JLaw, BCoop, Michael Pena were not impressive, but I don’t think you could blame the others, throughout the press tour they had been pretty much ignored so they would not have expected to take a central role. There were a lot of people squashed into a small space with only one microphone. They needed a spokesperson and Cooper had been taking that role for months, but he just wandered off during the interview leaving Amy to deal with it. The press wanted to talk to JLaw and she didn’t want to talk to them. Any of the other cast members butting in to answer general questions would have seemed very odd e.g. Michael Pena, although it was what he said that was the real problem.

      • JoJo says:

It was how JLaw was rolling her eyes constantly and talking/whispering and making rude faces every time a reporter asked a question. That is literally how I acted in high school, I’m embarrassed to remember. :/ Oh yes, and then Michael’s comments – I’ve never liked him since. “No one can understand what you’re saying, man.” So incredibly mean – and it is the foreign press, so for him to say that … Just wow.

      • Jellybean says:

Hi JoJo, I agree with you on those two and Cooper seems to have dumped them all in it without warning, so I add him in. The others were probably quite aware that the press didn’t want to hear from them and would have been slammed for being pushy if they jumped in and took a question not aimed at them specifically.
