Blake Lively wears Chanel couture to ‘Deadpool’ NYC fan event: fug or fab?

Here are some photos of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively at a “fan event” in NYC for Deadpool. In all of the advanced promotion for Deadpool, Ryan has not utilized his wife practically at all. Which is weird, because Blake is really good at self-promotion and promoting her boyfriends/lovers. She should have been put in charge of Deadpool promotion! But Blake has been quiet for a while – she and Ryan take turns working, and their baby James is barely 13 months old.

Anyway, Blake decided to come out for this event. And she wore Chanel! I actually hate this. I know we’re all supposed to be in a tizzy because CHANEL, and while I admire the workmanship and detailing, this dress is not cute. The one-sleeve design bugs and the top part looks poorly constructed. Blake is also taking makeup tips from Kardashians – look at how her makeup is orange and spackled-on. I think she was trying to “contour” and it didn’t work out. It’s weird, because she doesn’t need all that makeup at all – she’s really pretty with light-to-no-makeup.

    Nope, sorry.

Everything she’s doing here is making her look a lot older than she is.

    • Melody says:

I was thinking she looked like Giselle – and older. Not good.

Rita: I’d like to make her look a little more attractive, how far can you pull back?

    • what says:

She looks a lot older than she is. ALWAYS.
      And her lips… Lip injections?

  2. frivolity says:

I don’t really know this chick aside from her possible fling with Affleck and certainly don’t pay much attention to her, but her face looks pretty terrible here to me for some reason. IDK why.

Take the sleeve off and I’d love the dress. I like them as a couple and figure she’ll be announcing another pregnancy later this year. They were quite vocal about wanting a large family when they first got together.

    • net22 says:

Love Blake Lively. Ya take the sleeve off and the dress is very nice. But then being beautiful and naturally thin, she’d look good in a potato sack. If only I looked like that (wouldn’t mind people saying i looked like i sucked on a lemon lol ;0)

    • tracking says:

Agree about the sleeve, would have been very cute as a little strapless dress. Needed editing.

  4. sdfsdf says:

Blake Lively is the prime example of white privilege and being a tall, thin, blonde. Her getting to live a life that only 1 percent live and she doesn’t even seem worthy of it. Also she has got game when it comes to guys. Marrying Reynolds was a good choice. But she also dated Ryan Gosling and a whole a myriad of guys that I can’t think of. But if 5 years I’ll be suprised if anyone remembers her she has done anything spectacular in terms of performances.

    • CornyBlue says:

She comes from a very well off family anyways. She also dated Leo for a hot minute but i think she knows acting is not her thing and she will never be a lead on a major thing which is good. Talentless people should not be getting chances.

    • marshmellow says:

I liked her in The Town, but that wasn’t a very large part, and yeah, most of her other performances were pretty forgettable. The ones I’ve seen were, anyway.

    • minx says:

She helped herself along with a nose job and implants.
I’ve never gotten her appeal..there are so many other more talented actresses out there, with more zing, or something. I don’t think she’s a pill like Goopy, I don’t wish her ill. but she’s just…meh.

And I vote fug on the dress.

      • qwerty says:

        Upper lids and teeth too.

      • Sam says:

So she’s gotten surgery just like 99% of Hollywood has? And what opportunities has she taken from other women? You don’t hear from her. She’s content with being a fashion darling and making a movie here and there. The hate for this woman is real. She’s just done nothing wrong. But because she’s ambitious and has gotten this far on little talent she’s ridiculed? She should be admired!

      • minx says:

Sam, I don’t hate her. Just find her boring.

      • Sam says:

Minx it wasn’t directed at you specifically. I just find it funny when people call her privelaged as if the rest of Hollywood isn’t.

      • Bridget says:

I think it’s interesting that you say that Sam, because in a lot of ways Blake is a prime example of exactly the kind of privilege that people have been talking about. She seems like a nice girl, but her profile and her access to fame and opportunities isn’t commensurate with her level of achievement. We use the example a lot that for a black woman to be featured on the cover of Vogue she just to be at the pinnacle of her chosen profession, while Blake has covered Vogue at least twice. Again, she seems like a nice lady and she and Reynolds seem sincerely happy to be together and to have created a family. But professionally, Blake is the epitome of what’s wrong with the system.

    • Nance says:

You have trophy wives in every culture and since when this is a privilege?

    • JenniferJustice says:

She is more a beneficiary of nepotism than white supremacy. Her family has been in show-biz for decades. Her older sister or aunt was the red head in that 80/90s movie about the teen witch who made herself magic tennisshoes so she could win a track meet. Doesn’t sound like much, but I’ve seen her aunt in guest spots on Law & Order and such. I’m sure they helped Blake get her foot in the door. And if you look at old pictures of her, she had work done before she ever entered the industry – nose job, teeth, boobs.

      • CharlotteCharlotte says:

@JJ, you got your teen witch movies confused. Blake’s sister was in “Teen Witch”. The magic running shoes was the first “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” movie with Melissa Joan Hart.
*I watched Sabrina years ago, and recently rewatched Teen Witch after reading the FUG girls talk about it. They reference it a lot.

  5. CornyBlue says:

Most of the couture dresses celebs wear are so bad looking like i just dont get it. Wear something off the rack if couture does not suit you.

  6. Hawkeye says:

This is CHANEL??? I thought it was an understated Marchesa!

    • aurelia says:

Yeah, karl has been losing his chite lately. I also hate the way he associates with desperate youngster starlets – kardashians included, to appeal to a young audience. I thought he needed hormone replacement when he made the statement he thought Claroil Middleton was hot!

  7. marshmellow says:

    Really excited for Deadpool!

That aside, why is rock candy growing on her dress?

  8. Tiffany says:

Of course he is utilizing his wife and talking more about his child. This film needs to be a hit for him. This 180 in attitude is not a coincidence.

  9. Dream Big says:

    I tried to muster up a comment🤔

    …that is all💅🏻

  10. Birdix says:

She’s going to tell us that James picked it out for her. Something about having a baby seems to make people gravitate to child-like patterns, like this with the candy colors. And based on the way she’s standing, she seems to appreciate that it emphasizes her small waist (understandable post-kid).

    • cr says:

“like this with the candy colors. ”
      It looks like cupcake sprinkles.
It might not be so bad if there weren’t so many sprinkles. And the sleeve. And the top. Oh, who am I kidding, it looks like some 4th grader’s home ec project.

    • ell says:

i think it might be custom made…

  11. Minxx says:

    This is Chanel?? Depressing thought..
    Hate the fake bake..

  12. Sam says:

Unpopular opinion on here but I love these two. Especially together. There’s something about them. Like they’re perfectly harmless, are private and didn’t sell their daughter on the cover of a magazine, which I respect…and don’t tell me people don’t care about their baby…Kristin Cavalleri got a magazine cover…they could have too but didn’t. Mad respect for that. Plus I think they’re both stunning and gorgeous (again unpopular opinion on here) and I love how much Ryan has changed for the better since getting with Blake. It’s like she’s allowed him to see the greater things in life or however you want to put it. Anyways I’m excited for Deadpool!

    • minx says:

I just LOVED him in Defintely, Maybe; I thought he was going to be a big star. But he’s had some really bad films since then.

    • vauvert says:

I also really like both of them. I have a soft spot for Ryan and since they got together I like her too. Compared to most celeb couples they are much less obnoxious and we see a lot less (none) pap strolls to the gym, getting coffees, etc. They seem to really love one another and have a young family, good for them. As far as her romantic history, what’s the big deal? She went out and had herself a good time, dated around. So? He had a starter marriage, didn’t work out, divorced very civilly. None of them went with nasty stories to the press about their exes as far as I know. I call that classy.
I hope his movie does well – personally I am a bit over superheroes and nothing outside the Avengers interests me but if the reviews are good I’ll go see it.
As far as Blake’s talent goes, I think it’s very subjective. There will always be several pretty white blondes working in HW and amongst the current crop she is one of my faves. The dress is bad and the makeup is overkill – she looks better more natural /lighter makeup. One day more people will wake up and realize that Karl has been phoning it in for a very long time, and the only reason to wear Chanel now is to show off that you can afford the brand.

    • what says:

They are private? LOL! She loves staged pics and he always talks about his private life.

    • Sunsetsnow says:

I like them too! They really seem to love and support each other’s careers and family. They are harmless! I hope Deadpool is a hit for Ryan!

  13. Luciana says:

Blake, we have a problem. Your hair is the same colour of your skin. Two options: stay away from the sun or go back to some darker shades. Bronze is better than suicide blonde. The dress is awful. I cannot believe it’s Chanel. It looks cheap, like a runaway project sh*t.

  14. Squiggisbig says:

“Oh you know what would be neat? Sweeping my hair to one side!”- Blake Lively before every red carpet event.

Are we sure she has a right ear under there? Maybe it’s one of those Lord Voldermort situations….

  15. Sumodo1 says:

Blair made this dress in home ec class in 1973, right? Oh, no. That was me.

  16. OrigialTessa says:

Just far too much makeup. She’s young and attractive, no need to just plaster on paint. The fresh and casual look is so much better on her. This entire look is very bubble gum and Barbie. I don’t like it at all.

  17. HeyThere! says:

I camt even see her dress because her fake bake is so bad, horribly distracting. Why not just be white? Why be this weird-not-natural shade of orange?!

  18. Sarah01 says:

The dress would have been perfect if it was sleeveless, and no embellishment on the skirt. Otherwise she looks great.

  19. Sam says:

The hate for this woman on this website is unreal. What has she done to warrant this hate? So she’s talentless…talent is objective but let’s be clear about one thing. Let’s not sit here and act she’s in 5 movies every year. She’s content with being a fashion darling and making a movie here and there. I don’t see what’s wrong with that. The fact that she’s made it this far should be admired considering she has no talent. I’ve heard nothing but great things from people who have met or have worked with her so I really don’t get it. And I want to add that unlike a lot of people in Hollywood she didn’t sell out her kid which a lot of you said she would.

    • Prince Valiant says:

Well, she has been in three movies of late which we have not seen yet. As for her lack of talent, I would not be so negative. I saw the Age of Adaline (which has made a decent amount of money, differently from many films of some revered actresses), The secret lives of Pippa Lee and The Town, and she was good in all of them. She is also very expressive, much more than many of the so-called ‘talented’ actors. You will see. Talent, like many other intangible virtues, is subjective.

    • ldub says:

      THISSSSSSS.

      1. remove the sleeve and its a great dress.

      2. she just wrapped a staring role in a movie that filmed in australia and is currently filming a woody allen movie. so shes not hurting out here.

      3. “The fact that she’s made it this far should be admired considering she has ‘no talent’. I’ve heard nothing but great things from people who have met or have worked with her so I really don’t get it. • cr says:

“The hate for this woman on this website is unreal.”
That could be said of the reaction of many celebs on this, or any gossip site. Some of said celebs I like, some I don’t.
So you like her? Great. I’m meh on her but have had a soft spot for Ryan for years.
But, I note that people do seem to take criticisms of a celeb they like as almost a personal attack on their taste. It’s not. So any defense of them gets very touchy very quickly.

  20. ell says:

i don’t hate her, but i hate this tan. the dress is pretty though.

  21. Pandy says:

I don’t mind the dress that much but I am offended by the his ‘n hers oompaloompah orange complexions. Geez.

  22. HK9 says:

Love the dress but without the mutant sleeve though

  23. margie says:

In the second to last picture she is morphing into a different actress- she doesn’t look like herself, and looks so much like someone else, but I can’t figure out who. Any ideas?

  24. Camille says:

They a good looking couple but they need to fire their makeup artist.

  25. jessoutwest says:

That dress looks like a life size copy of a Barbie dress.

  26. Bread and Circuses says:

Blake’s AMAZING figure rescues the dress, plus it’s not really that bad, and I love the jewels all over it. (Am a sucker for sparklies, sorry! 🙂 )

  27. KiddVicious says:

I love the dress but the sleeve has to go. It looks like a fun dress and looks great on her, but the sleeve made me laugh.

I love textured clothing, whether it’s feathers, jewels, or flowers.
