Gal Gadot in red Prada at the ‘BvS: DoJ’ UK premiere: stunning or budget?

Despite terror warnings moving swiftly across Europe yesterday following the early-morning terrorist attacks in Brussels, Warner Bros did not cancel the big London premiere of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. They released a statement saying that they would not “yield to terror” and that the premiere would go ahead as usual, but the red carpet part (where the stars were planning to talk to media outlets) would be limited. Some Londoners also got their first look at the movie last night, and the early reviews are… all over the place. The one thing most people and critics agree on? Gal Gadot is a scene-stealer as Wonder Woman, and many think she’s the best part of the movie.

Gal stole the red carpet last night too, for which I am grateful. I feel like she’s been misreading the red carpet mood for the early promotion, and she hasn’t really been wowing me. But this Prada gown is really stunning on her. While the cut is not great (the back view is a MESS), she looks stunning. And finally, she looks like she knows what a big deal it is to play Wonder Woman.

Amy Adams wore this bespoke Antonio Berardi gown to the London premiere – I don’t get why this was made especially for her, since there are literally dozens of dresses that already look like this on every stylist’s rack. The color is pretty on her, but the look overall is sort of a snooze.

Here’s Holly Hunter, my forever love.

And here’s Henry Cavill – he did not bring Tara King, his 19-year-old girlfriend, to the New York premiere, but she did turn up at the London premiere. I hope she got a note to miss class! Also: the lady in pink is his mom! She’s so tiny.

Gal Gadot steals the show. She’s the only good thing about the movie. No joke either.

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

My husband thought she was a pleasure to see

    • Kate says:

I actually thought the Clark/Lois relationship was really good and sad. I teared up. It was the actual Batman/Superman stuff that was awful. Gal was great in action but….I’m still not sure she can ACT. Her role is little more than posing and she mumbled the few lines she had. I want her to have more layers and I hope we see them in her solo movie. To be honest, I’m kind of baffled by the praise for her bc her acting was….really poor.

      • oliphant says:

me too! was expecting so much more 🙁 i wish they’d gotten someone for acting abilities first, and then looks second- but that was never going to happen. would have loved to see someone like ruth wilson or sarah snook take a shot at it.(mind you i think they’re both stunning) in a world where Michael Keaton was batman, why not? OOF a young sigourney weaver, angela basset or anjelica houston would have been divine. *sigh*

      • V4Real says:

You don’t have to be a great or even good actor to play a super hero character. If that was the case Henry wouldn’t be Superman. I just didn’t think Gal had the right look. Another actress I thought would have fit the bill for Wonder Woman if she was about three inches taller was Megan Fox. She’s not a great actress either but she has the right look.

As for Michael Keaton the main reason back then that people thought he couldn’t pull the part of Batman off was because he had been typed cast as a comedic actor. Boy did he prove them wrong. To me he was the best Batman, even over Bale. I hope Gal doesn’t disappoint because I loved her character in the Fast & Furious Franchise.

      • oliphant says:

@v4real yeah i know, it just would have been nice to have someone picked who could act-i extend that to the whole of the film really, cavill and affleck both seem to have been told to just look grumpy and constipated, those who can act like adams, hunter, lane and washburne are wasted, and don’t get me started on the mess that is jesse eisenberg. And as you say she doesn’t even look the part-she must have tested well in the audition but that doesn’t come across in the film.

      • oliphant says:

        FISHburne not washburne 😉

  2. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think all of the women look beautiful. I wish Amy Adams hadn’t worn her hair like that, but I just hate that hairstyle. I wonder what Henry C’s mother thinks of her son’s girlfriend?

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@GoodNamesAllTaken, who wrote: “I think all of the women look beautiful.”

So do I! The ladies all look fabulous and I love their dresses and flattering dress colors! 🙂

I think Gal looks stunning in that red gown. Her 5’10” height is perfectly proportioned with her frame. Absolutely stunning! I wonder how old her son is?

  3. SKF says:

Good. I hope her movie ends up being the best and most successful DC movie and she disproves the bullshit once and for all about female superheroes or action stars not being as good, as marketable, as saleable, as successful. Go Gal!!

    • Miss M says:

I hope so too!!! I have been on the “Go Gal” team since it was announced she was going to play WW! 🙂

      • V4Real says:

I wasn’t always on Gal’s side when she was first cast as WW. I still don’t think she looks the part. I hope she proves me wrong because I like Gal. I loved her in The F&F franchise. To me her character was likeable. I’m rooting for her because WW is my favorite female superhero and I want her to do the role justice. So now, I am team Gal.

    • Jayna says:

I hope so, too. Team Gal for me also.

At least, Zack Snyder isn’t directing and having a hand in writing it. So she has a shot. LOL

    • INeedANap says:

I was pretty disappointed in her casting initially because it was such a great opportunity to cast a more muscular and athletic actress. But at this point, I’ve realized that what’s important is her acting-related portrayal of WW. If she nails that, I’ll be Team Gal forevah.

  4. themummy says:

I don’t really know who she is, in general, but that dress is AMAZING. Wow! I think her hair is almost too severe…or maybe just kind of boring…with that dress, though. Overall, I love the look, though.

  5. nicole says:

I feel bad for Tara. I think she needs some styling/garment help since she’s being thrust into this spotlight (I’m sure she’s not complaining). She’s very pretty but her clothes are just really off and ill fitting.

  6. Luxe says:

Gal looks gorgeous and I love the color on Henry’s mom.

    • Original T.C. says:

      +1
Gal and Henry’s Mom both steal the show. Their dresses look perfect on them.

  7. vanessa says:

Henry mom looks like jk rowling to me lol she is very cute. She even looked better than the teenage girlfriend !

  8. failfailfail says:

Is she 19 the same way Margot Robbie is 25 ?

Henry’s mum is so tiny I kinda wanna give her a hug.

Henry on the other hand I just want to give a slap across the face and tell him to get his shit together.

  9. Magnoliarose says:

Henry’s mother knew she was dressing for the camera and looks lovely. The color is pretty on her.
Gal’s dress I’d like more if the straps were a little thinner and reworked a bit. I like her makeup and her face looks good. I understood the need for an updo to highlight the dress.
Amy looks fine. Not spectacular but I like her and get there aren’t enough great red carpet dresses to go around.
Holly looks fine but her arms look strange.
    Henry’s coed is forgettable.

    • Kate says:

HC’s mom most def stole the spotlight from his teenage girlfriend. A calculated move, I hope, mama Cavill.

  10. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

I’m happy for her, I just wish she wasn’t so damn skinny and tiny. Her Wonder Woman and 17 lbs of ‘muscle’ make me sigh long and hard.

    • Jayna says:

People rave about Linda Carter, but her arms are thinner than Gal’s and maybe even her clavicle area. I think they all just focus on the big boobs regarding Linda and forget she had a tiny frame.. And Gal Gadot is five foot ten, so she has the height for the movie.

      • KB says:

Her body reminds me of Emily Ratajkowski

      • V4Real says:

My problem with Gal was not her thin frame but I didn’t think she had the right look. To me she doesn’t embody the character but I’m hoping she proves me wrong.

You should read the horrible things fan boys are saying about her. Not only are they saying she’s too skinny but racist ass hats are saying WW is not supposed to be Jewish, she is supposed to be pure White. I got so pissed at one poster that I let my anger get the best of me and responded to him. I told him that WW is only a character who can be played by any actress regardless of race, ethnicity or religion. I also informed his racist ass that Lynda Carter’s ethnicity consist of Mexican and Spanish. The dumbass didn’t even know that.

Back in 2008 for a short time Beyoncé wanted to play the part of WW and even met with studio execs.

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

But in the movie ,she has the “attitude” (according to my husband)

  11. lower-case deb says:

that pink on Henry’s mom is so lush!!! want!

    meanwhile, Henry and girlfriend?
from the pose, it’s more like Henry and his PA (there to wrangle photographers and event liaison officers). her face looks as bored/harried as someone working at the event rather than attending.

she’s like “okay one picture but i really have to check the buffet table for napkins and toothpicks.”

  12. Size Does Matter says:

Is anybody NOT in this movie? Good grief.

  13. Linn says:

The color looks fantastic on Gal and I like the the cut from the waist down. The top-part on the other hand does nothing for her and a little bit more fabric would have looked nicer.

Henry’s mother looks great, while the girlfriend certainly doesn’t look like she’s more than ten years younger than Gal. Not saying she’s lying about her age though, some people just have a more mature look.

  14. CornyBlue says:

The movie is 36% on RT. The reviews are hardly all over the place.
I know Henry Cavill is buff but he just looks fat in suits.
Gal GAdot is a vision but it seems her role in the film is very very less.

  15. Jayna says:

Wow. She is va-va-voom. Stunning. I love that gown on her and the color.

  16. Mia4s says:

FInally a great dress!! Glad to hear most people are positive on her in the movie, even though she has limited screen time. Although from what critics are saying being the best part of this movie isn’t exactly hard. Yikes.

  17. I Choose Me says:

Gal looks great. Love that colour on Amy and I’m just happy to see Holly Hunter. She should be in more movies, just not dreck like this purports to be. Not surprised to hear that the movie’s a mess. That was evident just from the trailer.

  18. Jayna says:

I’m gutted the movie is getting bad reviews. A bunch of us have tickets for this weekend. My sister said, that’s not important, you love certain action movies with low ratings. I said, All of those have one thing in them, Liam Neeson. LOL She’s the one that is easier on movies than I am, so will probably love it. Me, I’m not so sure now. But I do like dark movies, and at least the visuals look amazing.

Zack Synder is being evicerated about this and many fans are angry the DC extended universe keys were turned over to him in the first place after Man of Steel.

On a good note, minus a few bad or average reviews my boy Ben is getting great reviews. I’m happy for him, and I really hope he does co-write and direct the next standalone Batman movie. He has a great sense of where to put arcs in a movie and so you never get that flat period of dragging in his movies and good storyline development with not a lot of filler in them. He said the longer he directs he knows he will have a few not-so-well-received movies in there. I just hope a Batman movie with him writing and directing isn’t the one to be his first flop.

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

My husband watched the movie yesterday and he said that you see they worked on Wayne/Batman’s character

      • Jayna says:

What do you mean by “worked on Wayne/Batman’s character”?

And what did your husband think of the movie? Didn’t you say he’s a movie critic?

  19. Lucy says:

Glad to hear that! Wonder Woman shall NOT be ruined. Also, not really related but I saw The Man From U.N.C.L.E. yesterday and, May God forgive me, HC is HOT in it. No joke.

  20. Mar says:

All the ladies look great but Gal is exceptional

  21. Eden75 says:

Gal looks lovely. I love the colour and the makeup. Amy always looks good, so no surprise there.

I am amazed that people are shocked that this movie is getting bad reviews. Really? How on god’s green earth did anyone think it would be good? Cavill is pretty to look at but the first Superman movie he was in was awful. Gal is pretty to look at but the Wonder Woman character has been massacred every time she has been taken out of the comics. I won’t even start with Affleck as Batman. I was pi$$ed off the day it was announced and I will stay pi$$y about it. This is a comic book train wreck.

    • V4Real says:

Actually the critics are saying that Gal is the best thing about this movie and I hope they are right.

      • Eden75 says:

I’m not holding my breath as being called the best thing about this movie may not be good. Also, I’m sure she’s fine, I just cringe at the thought of what they may have done with the character. It’s not the actress herself I worry about.

    • oliphant says:

@Eden75 you’re right not to hold your breath- for me it was actually worse than I expected- It’s an absolute mess and I’m struggling to think of anything positive…just SO GRIM. I hope you do enjoy it, i have to say I’m just gutted with how it’s turned out…..and i actually quite liked man of steel 🙁

hopefully they’ll make/have made some good choices in directors for the next lot of films.

      • Eden75 says:

I have to admit that I probably won’t go see it. It’s the ruining of Batman that I can’t stand to watch. Affleck chewed the scenery and ruined Daredevil (thank you Netflix for fixing that as best they could). I dunno if I can stand to watch my fav comic character of all time go through another round of destruction. TV Batman was good for what it was supposed to be, a campy, fun tv show. The Burton movies were awful. Bale was a good Batman and those movies at least went to a dark side in the way it was intended.

Maybe everyone just needs to leave the freaking comics alone for awhile and find something else to make into movies.

  22. Murphy says:

Interesting how everyone thought Gal Gidot would be the worst part and she turned out to be the best part.

  23. JenniferJustice says:

Gal is stunning in that dress. She’s stunning anyway.

Amy’s hair is not flattering her.

    Caville’s mother is a doll.

Michael Keaton’s Batman Forever!!!!! Because he was good-looking, witty and sarcastic, subtle, and understood that Batman was just an impatient intolerant crusher. If you ticked him off or got on his bad side – he’s just kick you so hard, you’d go flying. That was Batman!

  24. Anesthetizes says:

she’s like a Morena Baccarin clone!

  25. Jen43 says:

Henry’s mom is gorgeous. Hard to believe that tiny woman produced that meathead.

Gail is old time movie star stunning. Holly looks amazing, too.
