Chrissy Teigen tried to bring a fake baby to NBA finals: trolling the trolls?

Spike TV's 10th Annual Guys Choice Awards

Sometimes I feel sorry when Chrissy Teigen is mocked for her motherhood choices, like hiring a night nurse or spending a child-free evening out with hubby John Legend. This time, not so much. On Thursday, Chrissy decided to swipe back at her social media haters by wrapping a stuffed toy up in a blanket and trying to pass it off as her seven week-old daughter, Luna, at game 1 of the NBA finals. Then she posted a picture of the stunt on Snapchat, and joked, “Twitter is gonna get so mad.” Apparently no one really did, especially because she wasn’t able to bring the fake baby into the arena. She posted highlights of the stunt on her Twitter.

I get that Chrissy is tired of all of the “backseat Moms” giving her grief, but I don’t get this prank. It’s really kind of lame and attention-grabby. Use your social media for good, Chrissy, like the picture of Luna you posted last week where she is rocking freaking angel wings. I am hardly maternal, but that image melted my cold little heart.

Chrissy used her Snapchat to more effectively kid around at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards, which were taped on Saturday night in California. Observing that Robert De Niro was (understandably) getting more attention than she was, she faux-lamented, “No one cares about me. The line to get to De Niro is pretty thick. It’s about 40 people… and nobody really wants to meet me.” I am truly, optimistically hoping she was kidding here. I will give her this, she and John looked great. I just think she stop trying to provoke people.

    What’s the point ?!

    • Erinn says:

She hadn’t gotten enough attention lately? Because other than that, I really can’t figure out any other reasons behind it.

She’s suuuuch a beautiful woman. It’s a shame she’s so into the drama.

      • joan says:

I think she usually charming and funny — but her humor gets her in trouble. Watch her talking on TV and she’s bubbly and fairly bright.

She takes chances joking around and social media has no sense of humor.

      • Flowerchild says:

        @Joan

No it’s more like she trolls Soical media looking for attention and people Just don’t find her as funny as you seem to think she is. She lives off the drama ,she no better then Nicki or Demi lovato.

Need attention, Chrissy? Kudos to the stadium for not allowing her to pull off this stunt. You cannot bring stuff into NBA games. We have to go through metal detectors and handbags are searched. Chrissy shouldn’t expect special treatment just so she can provoke discussion on Twitter.

  3. Jegede says:

How is she any different from a Kardashian at this point?

What else does she do exactly?

    • Alex says:

She shot to fame as a model (Sports Illustrated for one) but she hosts shows and writes some pretty great cookbooks. Her main thing is her cooking brand

      • Jegede says:

I know she shot to fame as a model.
        That seems like another age.

And all I ever read about her here & other places are social media antics like this, or red carpet appearances with her husband.

I mean Jordan Dunn has a cooking show as well, but what keeps her primarily in the public eye is her work as a model – her fashion deals, magazine covers, movement on the Forbes rich list e.t.c

Tiegen’s show can’t be doing that great if she has to resort to professional trolling to stay in the public eye.

      • amilu says:

I loved her Cooking Channel pilot with John so much, and I’ve always enjoyed reading her food blog and following her IG (primarily for food and dog photos). I don’t necessarily like the Chrissy Tiegen that shows up in gossip blogs, but I always thought she was so cute and funny elsewhere.

      • censorednt says:

        @Alex
She shot to fame as that model who was dating John Legend before him she was doing mainly catalog stuff not really high fashion much of her higher profile stuff came after him (they dated for yrs before they wed )

    • Locke Lamora says:

She was kinda famous a bit, but married well and took it from there.

    • DiamondGirl says:

She WANTS to be one, reallllllly bad.

  4. Locke Lamora says:

    Attention-grabby? Chrissy? Never.
Does she really think people care about her baby that much? She thinks she’s much more famous than she really is, doesn’t she?

    • SM says:

I was thinking the same thing. I know who she is only because I know her husband. And I have to say I like some of John Legend’s somgs but I can’t say that about her at all I wonder if she got a big part of her fame only because All of you is about her.

      • Lady Mimosa says:

I love that sound, but I listen to it rather than looking at the videos of them because I don’t like either one of them.
They also come across as closet racists, have you read their latest rant on Twitter.

  5. Guest says:

    Here…Chrissy..here’s the attention you wanted.
Your not trolling the trolls your trying to make the news.
    Good job.

  6. mellie says:

She’s beautiful, her husband is beautiful, I’m sure her baby is beautiful….she just needs to enjoy her very privileged life and stop worrying about what everyone thinks. You would think that, as a “celebrity”, she would have developed thicker skin by now.

    • amilu says:

That’s probably easier said than done. Before everyone was saying she was a “bad mother,” they were saying how ugly or weird-looking she is. I’ve always liked her, but I really wish she would just unplug (also easier said than done, I know…).

Robert De Niro? or some model who married a famous singer?…
    Who do I go see?
    Choices choices…

    • Nanea says:

      Choices? Not anymore.

Robert DeNiro is pro-disease, or, to put it more bluntly, an anti-vaxxer loon on the same intellectual level as Jenny McCarthy, someone who seems to buy what Andrew Wakefield is selling.

  8. Lucy2 says:

The best way to not have to deal with people backseat mothering? Stay off social media for a while. Or post a photo and move on with your life, I feel like she just lives for the drama of the comments at this point.

    • swak says:

And honestly, who cares what other people think of your mothering skills or anything else you do. Guess with age I have learned that I couldn’t care less about what people think of me.

    • Kitkatk8 says:

      Yep!

  9. Kate says:

I can’t with her. She’s been trolling since she got pregnant and she just can’t live without attention.

    • MP says:

I don’t understand either. She said she tried for years to get pregnant and now that she has her beautiful baby she puts so much time and effort to troll and argue with people on social media.
Go enjoy your child Chrissy and forget about the strangers on the opposite side of twitter!

      • Kate says:

there certainly are healthier and more mature ways to stay relevant…

      • Lady Mimosa says:

I don’t believe her when she said she tried for years to get pregnant,.Alisha Tyler said that years, then always said she knew what yo do not to get pregnant.

  10. Emily says:

She is the definition of doing too much. We get it, girl.

  11. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She’s exhausting. I like him so I try to like her, and I do think she gets criticized for things that are nobody else’s business, so I defend her, but then she just does such immature things like this. You’re on your own with this douche move, Chrissy.

    • Almondjoy says:

I feel the EXACT same way about her. I wish people would give her a break but then she does crap like this. I make excuses because I love JL and she seems to be having fun but she then she also seems so immature. Like she thrives off of stuff like this.

      • Lady Mimosa says:

I think it’s just the point, people idolize celebrities, and don’t usually know how they really are. John Legend starts many of those Twitter rants and she takes over.

  12. me says:

Now I understand why Chrissy and Kim are such good friends. They are so much alike. Super thirsty for attention !

  13. wow says:

The thirst is real with this one. She is beyond freaking annoying and not because of her parenting choices. Moreso because of attention seeking ways.

  14. Tiffany says:

Redirect….no talk of GS handing Cleveland their ass. Goodness gracious. This will be done in 4 at this rate.

    • tealily says:

Ugh, Cleveland is not on their game this series. Hoping they’ll pull it together when they get back home.

  15. tealily says:

    I think she’s funny. *shrug*

  16. Kitkatk8 says:

She was the only “celebrity” I followed on Instagram because of her cook book – and it took me just two months to unfollow. She’s constantly trying to play this cat and mouse game with media/followers. It was simply exhausting to keep up with her nonsense.

    • Lady Mimosa says:

How about that time she said the publisher accidentally put her real number in her cookbook? Who does that, most people can do it right the first time.

  17. Sarah says:

I find her desperation for attention a bit annoying. She is always in a Twitter fight with someone or other.
