Duchess Kate in a Jenny Packham repeat for Norfolk fundraiser: lovely or meh?

Even though I wasn’t looking forward to seeing the Duchess of Cambridge in another overpriced, badly-tailored doily, I was looking forward to seeing what Kate would choose to wear for one of the biggest A-list, elite and exclusive fundraisers she’s ever attended. And the answer was… a repeat. A repeat of a dress that wasn’t all that great the first time around. Kate repeated this £3,000-plus Jenny Packham gown which we have only seen once before, in June 2011, just weeks after William and Kate returned from their honeymoon. While Kate styled her hair differently (in 2011, she wore a fresh blowout and last night she wore a chignon), the styling is mostly the same. She even repeated the same nude LK Bennett peep-toe shoes she wore the first time around. Okay, there were a few new or newish additions. She carried a nude Prada clutch, and she wore a chunky diamond (?) bracelet, and “diamond drop earrings gifted to her by the Queen.” The Queen has to bribe Kate with jewelry to get her to do charity fundraisers, that’s how I’m reading it.

This charity fundraiser was for EACH, one of Kate’s patronages. The Cambridges didn’t open their home, Anmer Hall, for the fundraiser though. No, the grand estate Houghton Hall opened their doors for an elite “taste of Norfolk” dinner, prepared by five Michelin-starred chefs. Speaking of the food, William made a “joke” about his wife’s cooking. Because he’s one of the guys! He’s such a bloke! He’s just Bill Cambridge, man of the people.

With a special five course meal prepared by five Michelin – starred chefs, the Duke of Cambridge knew his luck was in at the dinner at Houghton Hall, three and a half miles from the couple ‘s 10-bexroom country mansion at Anmer Hall on the Queen’s Sandringham estate.

“William has to put up with my cooking most of the time,” Kate, 34, told the chefs. “It’s the reason I’m so skinny,” said William.

[From Express]

My wife’s cooking is the worst! The old ball and chain, har har. Take my wife, please! I was insulted on Kate’s behalf. I bet Kate actually knows her way around the kitchen, and most people insist she’s a decent cook, at least when it comes to roasting chicken and making cheese-on-toast. Of course, I don’t even believe that Kate is cooking for William most of the time at Anmer. I think they have (at least) a part-time chef. Plus, Carole Middleton knows her way around a kitchen too.

Like the dress, loathe her utter laziness.

    • Kate says:

She’s actually a keen and good cook. I don’t know why no one can see that William was joking. I think she’d be perfectly happy to stay home and be a housewife all day long.

      • Bettyrose says:

Given that her most important job is to birth and raise the heir, I’d actually have no problem with the choice to be a housewife (other than my general concern for anyone who relinquishes economic independence) But she needs to forgo luxuries beyond the basics of a castle, staff and modest budget for public appearance clothing. You know, still have more than any of us could ever imagine, but no more than that. But I don’t see why she couldn’t be primarily a housewife so long as she honestly lived like one.

      • Vava says:

Bettyrose, I’m surprised at your comment.

Kate is not in the position to be “primarily a housewife”. She signed onto the role of the future Queen Consort and so she needs to step up to the plate and do charity work and public appearances on a regular basis. I don’t care if she won’t be in that role for many years, right now she needs to be more than a Stepford Wife. Her lifestyle is funded by the public, there is no excuse for being a sloth.

      • Vava says:

Well Kate, I guess if insults are what William and Kate thrive on, then the comment was fine. If I was Kate, I’d tell William he can cook his own d@mned meals. (But in reality though, I suspect Kate is not in an apron very often.)

      • Bettyrose says:

Vava, perhaps I’m unclear on the complexities of the role, but I thought Stepford Wife was the main responsibility of a royal brood mare. And clearly she’s quite good at it. I get criticism of her for expecting royal treatment while shirking public appearances, but if she committed to a simple home life and asked little in return, wouldn’t it be fair to say she was doing her duty in raising the royal children? William, OTOH, has no excuse.

  2. lisa2 says:

I like the dress. Saw pictures when she wore it the first time. I think her hairstyle this time compliments the dress better than when she wore her hair down

    • MrsBPitt says:

I agree…pretty dress, and love her hair like that! I am willing to bet Kate’s idea of cooking is “Wills, what shall we have cook prepare for dinner”, and then telling the chef!

    • Hazel says:

I thought she looked lovely & it’s due to wearing her hair up, you can see the pretty neckline of the gown. Shoes & clutch are the same as last time, earrings are different, & she added a bracelet. And William…I thought he looked skinnier after marriage. I didn’t put it down to Kate’s cooking but rather her strict dietary rules–no cakes at tea time & etc.

      • Trashaddict says:

she looks good with her hair up. She needs to lighten her eyebrows though, they make her look older.

    • minx says:

      Agree, she looks very pretty.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think she looks lovely. Her hair, the earrings, the dress. Ok, she needs a boring shoe intervention (shoes are my weakness, I just don’t get it!) but overall I think she looks great. And I think it’s good that she repeats such an expensive dress. She should.

    • SnazzyisAlive says:

I agree. I especially like the hair. Looks lovely!

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Agree with every word of your post, GNAT.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

I actually like most of her boring shoes. **scurries away in shame**

      • bluhare says:

        Pssst!!! Over here!

Although I do think she could mix it up a bit more than she does.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Don’t be ashamed, Goats. They are perfectly nice shoes. I like theM, too. She just wears the same shoe over and over and over. That’s my objection.

    • Giddy says:

I agree, and it’s great that her hair shows off those lovely earrings.

    • Adele Dazeem says:

Agreed. I think she looks better than she has in quite some time !

    • Imqrious2 says:

Perhaps she’s listening to us? Lol. She looks lovely and elegant here. With her hair up we can see the earrings, and finally, a bracelet! I like these shoes with it; a color would divert the eye. The only other shoes I might see is a silver shoe, to “go with” the silver in the dress. Otherwise, well done, Duchess!

    • hoopjumper says:

Don’t love the dress’s color, like everything else about it. Also agree with everyone who believes a dress that cost about $4500 should be worn more than once, and I think waiting five years is more than reasonable.

    • AmyL says:

I actually liked her whole look as well. In my opinion, her dress had enough going on so that I was satisfied with the shoe choice. (Goats on Roof – I am fairly boring in my own shoe choices so I do not have many complaints about hers either.)

I loved that she wore her hair back. I think her people are listening. It was appropriate and she looked great.

Also, I read it was suggested that the jewelry from the Queen is on permanant loan so it is probably unlikely that she is being “bribed” to attend specific events. For all we know she wears them around the house as she is cooking.

    • Mare says:

I know. She always seems to get crap for wearing the same thing twice.

      • kaiko says:

Huh? Not on CB, not that I have ever read…Most people, especially british commentators, just want her to actually do her duty so that the hundreds of thousands she spends on clothes are actually justified as a “work” expense.

  4. OSTONE says:

The dress looks better when her hair is not down. So kudos on the chignon for Kate.
PS: praying for y’all, British folks today on your referendum!

  5. als says:

She just doesn’t look good. For so many reasons but mostly, she doesn’t show her age, she looks older.

    • Hazel says:

Yep, agree see third picture. She’s only in her early thirties!

    • MsGoblin says:

      She’s a smoker, isn’t she?

    • Murphy says:

Yeah and the press isn’t Photoshopping her as much any more-look out its only going to get worse for her.

      • La Ti Da says:

Remember the fuss made over her first official portrait and how much older she looked in it? Yeah……. without all the Photoshop I’m starting to think other than the overlarge nose its actually really accurate.

    • Matomedah says:

I looked at the 2011 pics in the link. Has her skin really changed that much in 5 years?! Or is it really photoshop?
I do think she looks beautiful, though. I love the dress!

    • Megan says:

The heavy make up is not doing her any favors either.

    • HH says:

I like the entire look, but the dress only emphasizes how skinny she is. The fact that she has incredibly narrow hips probably exaggerates her frail look.

Also, has any noticed her hands?! Hands and neck tell the age. And hers aren’t looking too good.

      • kaiko says:

agree she has an extremely boyish body, I guess you call that a ruler shape?? ha, how fitting…Kate the “ruler”! heaven help the uk.

      • La Ti Da says:

I remember during the wedding Jemima Khan tweeted something along the lines of “Those aren’t heir-bearing hips” from inside Westminster as Kate walked down the aisle. It didn’t go down well.

      • HH says:

She has a “swimmer’s body” but instead of being both lean and muscular, it’s just incredibly lean. I don’t know if she actually has the broad shoulders, or if her lack of hips just accentuates her normal shoulders.

      • LAK says:

HH: she has broad shoulders. They aren’t as broad as Charlene of Monaco’s shoulders, but you can see them clearly in this dress which has no shoulder pads and is cut on the bias.

Or to have a better look, google their honeymoon pics were she’s photographed from the front, hair up in a black bikini.

Most of the time, her hair is down and that hides her shoulders which is why people do jot notice.

    • CuriousCole says:

I’m perplexed by Kate’s current appearance (not the dress or earrings, those are fabulous). I’m not trying to be cruel, just genuinely curious how she could age so much in the span of five years. Especially since those five years have given her access to the best doctors, facial treatments and nutritionists in the world.

  6. Only thing, i am super jealous of her, is the access to great, exotic food. I love food. It makes me happy! and yet she looks unhealthy skinny. I hate to comment on her weight, but this is she is all about; physical appearances. Her body looks tiny but her head is relatively huge. I see anorexia:-(

    • Kate says:

She’s always been tiny but now she’s extra tiny. You can clearly see a difference from when she first wore the dress several years ago. I think she’d look so much better with more weight on her bones. I don’t necessarily see anorexia but I do think she must have some kind of body image issue.

  7. Sixer says:

Bonus points to you, Kaiser, for getting cheese ON toast right! That’s a gold star, right there.

Hurry up and be over, neverendum. Then the press can get back to being rude about Twit and Twat. That will be most satisfactory.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

Questions for one of our resident Brits: from what I understand, this was a pricey fundraiser for attendees. In Texas, it would have been considered rather gauche for a prominent female sponsor/patron to wear an outfit that she had already worn – and been photographed in – to a different gala. I must admit, my first reaction to this story was, “How rude to not wear something she has never been photographed in to this event.” This way, no one confuses photos from one event with another one. Do you think the guests at this dinner cared? Or do you think she deliberately changed her hair and jewelry so as to minimize criticism that she was repeating this outfit?

Also, what do you think the result of today’s referendum will be?

      Thanks!

      • Somegirl says:

I’m also in Texas and go to galas or events like this pretty regularly as part of my job. While I personally don’t like to wear the same dress twice to them, that has more to do with my liking an excuse to buy pretty dresses! I would say that it might be considered a bit off to wear the same dress to the same organization’s event, but I’ve never heard it commented on as inappropriate to repeat a look, and I definitely know people who have, even prominent donors or sponsors. I think as long as the styling is different and it’s not the same dress for the same organization, she’s in the clear.

      • Sixer says:

Bearcat – I have NO idea what is or isn’t the correct way to do anything clothes or fashion-related, I’m afraid. But it is true that the BRF generally get brownie points for repeats, and they would be supposed to satisfy the public before they satisfy the other attendees, so that may be it. Or I could be completely wrong! LAK might know – she’s more au fait than I am.

I think a combination of the silent majority and status quo bias will mean that the referendum will go the way of staying in the EU. That said, I’m not what you’d call confident. I am voting Remain but holding my nose to do it. I think calling it in the first place was reckless and that, whatever the result, it has done more harm than good.

      • Eden75 says:

I do a lot of events for my work as well and I have never repeated a dress. Granted, I have mastered the art of buying gorgeous gowns on the cheap and having them altered if required. I have several that were sample gowns and have had the word sample that is sewn into them covered over. I think that the gown she is wearing is beautiful and it would be a shame to wear only once. I agree that there probably is a lot of flack to royals for not recycling them, we don’t get that because we are not royalty. (I like to think I am but royal redneck does not count.)

Good luck to the UK today. I have many opinions on it but since I am not British, none of them matter.

      • AmyL says:

Bearcat – The queen wears repeats to formal state occasions. The other female members of the BRF do as well. In fact, it is not uncommon for other royal women to repeat their formal gowns. CP Mary does it quite a bit, as does CP Victoria….

So, while I am not British, I am guessing that the answer to your questions is no…

      • Tina says:

@Bearcat – it’s definitely not an issue among the aristos. They often repeat formal gowns and it’s just what they do. That was purchased from Caroline Charles in 1985 and it is perfectly adequate, that kind of thing. New money, especially in London (and especially Russians) would never repeat any kind of outfit when being photographed.

And I hope and expect that we will vote to Remain, but the Newcastle and Sunderland results are freaking me out.

  8. Eleonor says:

I liked the dress the first time, I like it even more here with earrings and everything.
I think the shoes are fine, but I’m not a shoes person.

  9. Megan says:

The earrings are a loan, not a gift.

I thought William’s retort to Kate’s false modesty about her cooking was funny.

    • Me too! it was the first time workshy’s answer seemed funny to me.

    • Rapunzel says:

@megan- I loathe the false modesty. The lame patter about her cooking felt like a preplanned exchange geared to leave a sound bite and make them seem normal, since that’s their obsession. It’s gross, imo and insulting.

      • Green Girl says:

I agree, Rapunzel. I think it would have been more interesting if he’d praised some specialty dish of hers. Because even if you’re not a great cook, surely you can at least make scrambled eggs or something.

    • Liz says:

The bracelet is a loan, along with a tiara or two. The Queen has a massive jewel collection – to the point that she will never wear some pieces -she’s never been photographed wearing those earrings. Most senior members of the family have a collection of loaned jewels for use at formal occasions. They aren’t gifts, they still belong to the Queen – she asked for the return of loaned pieces when the Yorks divorced – they are long-term loans.

      • Feeshalori says:

I wonder if those jewels are part of the royal collection or personally owned by the Queen. Given the vastness, it must be hard to tell.

  10. Rapunzel says:

Has she changed her hair color? Looks different?

I love the dress style wise, but hate the color.

  11. Senaber says:

Kate looks like she cooks ice cubes or maybe bean sprouts for dinner. I think William’s joke was very pointed.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

She looks like she eats water and works out several hours a day. Her thinness is concerning.

  12. Megan says:

I wish there were better pics of Rose’s dress. It looks really interesting,

  13. Stef Leppard says:

    Bill Cambridge!! Lol!

  14. Lainey says:

I actually like this dress. One of the few I do. I think it’s worrying though that she can fit in it again. She first wore it at her thinnest- straight after the wedding. And it looks pretty much the same on her now as it did then.

  15. Lauren says:

She looks lovely, but her husband is such an ass! I hope that she is regretting now going that hard after him.

  16. Sabrina says:

I like the dress and the earrings are gorgeous.

  17. Ollie says:

As often her poor posture ruins a great outfit.
Part of why she always looks so “old” is her hunching. There are ways to correct forward head posture. She will have problems with her back when she’s older.
i don’t get why she doesn’t do something against it…. I mean she is a sporty woman.

    • Megan says:

I have posted this before … My trainer calls that posture “crunch curve.” She said it is the result of over strengthening the abs without balancing it with back and shoulder strengthening. I assume Kate wants a flat stomach, but does not want to broaden her shoulders, which can also thicken the neck.

      • Hazel says:

Interesting, although if Kate is practicing yoga as she is reported to be doing, as well as lap swimming, she’s getting plenty of back & shoulder work.

  18. lala says:

    English rose she is not.

    • kaiko says:

mte! yet she doesn’t have to be a delicate english rose…but she should at least try not to be a self absorbed do nothing. hopefully she changes for the better.

  19. Bex says:

I’d be wearing that dress to every event going if I could. I think it’s gorgeous.

    • Eden75 says:

Hell, I’d wearing it doing housework. It’s fabulous.

      The shoes? Not so much…..

  20. fanny says:

I swear if my husband criticized my cooking in such a public manner. I would take the microphone and say hiney if you don’t like my cooking WHY DONT YU COOK YOU DAMN SELF!!!
then i would flip my hair ON HIS FACE and leave.

  21. Seraphina says:

I adore that dress. But she looks so very thin.

Daily Mail had pics posted too and the look on Wills’ face said a thousand words. He looked like he’d rather be anywhere but there. If he dislikes his job so much, he should step to the side. His brother does a much better job and seemingly enjoys it.

    • Vava says:

I like the dress as well. Unfortunately it emphasizes how frail she looks right now. This particular hairstyle without some sort of hat/fascinator really ages her. The earrings are nice though. I think she wore the Prada bag with this dress last time, too.

      Kate does not look healthy.

      William is an ass.

  22. HyacinthBucket says:

The dress is beautiful, the chignon elegant. The posture is horrific, the way she juts out her chin aggressive and unattractive. The boobs and buttocks have all but disappeared. It is about time for a press statement. Her body, posture and facial expression point to a serious problem, probably in the eating disorder range.

    • Vava says:

There won’t be a press statement, but the signs are there that something is amiss.

      • HyacinthBucket says:

They shouldn’t leave it so late as they did with Diana. After all, they said they want to remove the stigma of psychological ailments. Best get a move on then.

      • Vava says:

Yes, I agree Hyacinth. Kate needs help.

  23. The Original Mia says:

The dress is fine, though that neckline is silly and looks tacked on. She looked better in 2011. Her hair, skin and posture have gotten worse. There’s a picture out there where she’s walking and her body looks concave. Something isn’t right with her, but keep on joking about her cooking Wills while your wife wilts away.

  24. Murphy says:

Has he ever made a comment that wasn’t a back handed insult?
    Answer: no.

Also if the Queen is giving her any diamonds then I’m President Obama. That’s a big load of PR BS. As is anything ever written about those two a$$holes.

  25. Canadian Becks says:

The proof of her long torso and (relatively) short legs can be seen in that 1st photo, where she is coming around the car. I never realized her proportions were like that.

    • Vava says:

It really became obvious to me when I saw them sitting side-by-side on the bench at the Taj Mahal. Very long torso.

    • HyacinthBucket says:

Her being so painfully thin and her horrible posture makes it look worse, nothing to distract the eyes. And, given that she wears heels, she looks decidedly unproportional.

    • Rachel Phelps says:

I’m built like that too, all torso and short legs. And since I’m already tall, when I wear heels, I slouch like that too, mostly to keep my balance and also to blend in with all the short people in my family, hehe.

  26. Fireweaver says:

The bracelet is Queen Mary’s diamond bar choker/bracelet. Kate wore it to the gala banquet of the Chinese state visit

  27. Anon says:

I actually like this dress way more with her hair like that. The makeup and fake tan are also way toned down. She actually looks like a person rather than “princess barbie.” which I appreciate. That said, when I make jokes about my cooking my husband always defends me. It surprises me not at all that William chose the punchline over defending his wife.

  28. Betti says:

They both looked tanned, private and quirky holiday? Glad to see she is wearing her hair up like this it suits her, that mop with the fresh blowouts does nothing.

    They are still Dolittles.

  29. macy says:

I think Kate eats low-carb and high protein to lose weight. I’ve got several friends on it, and at first they looked great and lost weight (which they didn’t need to lose, but they wanted low body fat I guess). However, after about five years of this low-carb and high protein business, my friends have begun to look very aged, just like Kate (we’re late 20s/early 30s).

Not to mention, they get puffy and start retaining water if they do eat carbs for a special occasion, which seems horrible.

Also Normal Bill has a spot in the last picture. Royals, just like us.

  30. Jessica says:

She’s lost weight since she last wore this dress. Someone needs to get her help for an eating disorder.

  31. wow says:

She looks amazing to me. Not many women could look this flattering in this dress, especially five years and two kids later. Lovely!

    • Nic919 says:

She looks unhealthy and way older than her stated age. Extreme thinness shouldn’t be praised when it isn’t her natural state.

She looked a lot better just after she had George when she had a bit of weight on her… And she was still slim. Now it is just a sign of an eating disorder.

    • hmmm says:

Not much of an accomplishment, if you ask me.

    • Polly says:

Her size is similar to many Hollywood identities and other women in the public eye. I honestly don’t think she looks unhealthy. It’s understandable that a high profile woman who is constantly photographed would be conscious of staying in shape.

  32. RapidPigeon says:

I like this dress but I’m always reminded of the fact that Blair Waldorf wore it in Gossip Girl

  33. burnsie says:

2011 was one of her best fashion years so I’m surprised she doesn’t repeat those outfits more often. I like this dress

    • The Original Mia says:

She was super thin in 2011 after the wedding. She hasn’t been able to fit into that wardrobe until now. And what’s worse, these clothes look big on her.

  34. hmmm says:

I am far more interested in that dress on the woman beside her in the last photo!

Meh. All Kate cares about is looking rich and hanging out with toffs. Mission accomplished.

    Man, she looks so battered.

  35. Pandy says:

I love the dress and her hair. She looks great.

  36. Joannie says:

She looks absolutely beautiful. Great figure! She stands out in a crowd that’s for sure!

    • Great figure? She looked extremely pretty during the girlfriend years and that too without any makeup. Now, she is nothing like her former self. Awful posture and no photo shopping doesn’t help either. It is rather pathetic When your appearance is the only thing for you to stand in the crowd. For her supposed highness, she is rather very ordinary.

    • sushi says:

She stands out because of her title. Nothing about her is special.

      • Joannie says:

Well it’s a matter of opinion. Mine is what it is. I consider myself to have good taste and I think she can go from rubber boots to high fashion and always stand out because she’s pure class. I see nothing ordinary.

      • joanie, trust me, i really want to like Kate Middleton. But i don’t see the extraordinariness you are talking about. Take away the title( unearned and pointless) and her physical being out of the equation, what is there to impress you? I sincerely want to know.
I went to London on vacation with my family once and i remember the local girls were the prettiest i ever saw. In Germany, too we have beautiful women. Beauty isn’t extraordinary, it is common and found everywhere.
There is something really pathetic about a woman who has had the opportunity to see the suffering of the human kind and yet do absolutely nothing about it. I come from relatively well off family, who earned their wealth by hard work and yet i sometimes feel weird guilt when i see documentaries on the world poverty and human suffering. This woman uttered “Gosh, how interesting” when told about the mutilated children, that wasn’t very classy of her. Now, humility is a very admirable human trait, your princess doesn’t possess that either. Phony accent, no work ethic, flashing her bits, pure class indeed.

      • Sarah says:

Nullius, Amen to all you said. Especially the comments in India.

      • hmmm says:

Oh, so very well said, nullius in verba!

    • msthang says:

Joannie, she stands out in the crowd in that everyone is saying to themselves, and whispering to each other ” Getting help for anorexia ? ” or what ” marriage falling apart ?” Hmmmmmmm !!!!!!!!

  37. Kaz says:

I think she looks quit haggard and aged. She needs a complete change of makeup style and some great products to make her skin look better.

    • Sarah says:

She also needs a good 20 pounds or she is going to end up in the hospital. Why don’t people talk about this except for here???

      • Vava says:

It’s taboo. Lots of people think it’s body-shaming.
The Duchess might enjoy being underweight like she is right now, but I guess she doesn’t see how she really looks.

  38. ClaireB says:

I didn’t like this dress when she first wore it, but now that I know how much worse her fashion can be, I like it much much more!

It’s hard to believe she could be thinner than she was then, but it’s definitely looser on her now. I wish she’d get help. Of course, I wish someone would smack William across the face with some reality, too, so I won’t be holding my breath for either.

  39. Penelope says:

I love this dress on her and the upswept hair is lovely too.

The grey mixed with brunette hair colour is turning a shade of (Irish?) red for Kate, I see.

  41. Starlight says:

I think she needs a medal she is trying to keep herself super skinny and Wills skinny which does make you wonder how many years you can keep up that regime especially if your naturally strong sporty looking and not naturally wafer thin. Eventually it takes its toll as you become quite sinewy looking. I always thought she looked lovely when she got her degree but now she has lost that healthy glow. The demands for her to look like a cat walk model showing off the latest designer gown when she is not naturally skinny thin is mega gym diet consuming.

Her hair is constantly up now. That plus all the events and press of these two lately, plus that bracelet, says to me the Queen had a talk with them and all coddling of them has stopped. They’ve been told – weights in hems, hair up, you’ve had enough years to adjust, now get to work.

I feel for Kate a bit actually though she wouldn’t appreciate it. The weight of being a royal is not something she’s naturally cut out for and that’s maybe why she’s aging so fast. Partly at least.

  43. orangecrush says:

The dress is OK, but it looks like it’s made out of swimsuit material. It’s like a synchronized swimming outfit, but a dress.

Kate is extremely thin – I understand if someone is naturally skinny, but Kate was not always this thin and it ages her terribly. I often wonder if Kate’s seeming obsession with her weight has anything to do with the fact that the press often wrote about Diana’s weight. Diana, too, became very, very thin and allegedly admitted to suffering from bulimia. Just how far is Kate willing to go to emulate her late mother-in-law…?

I honestly think that if Kate thought she could get the love and admiration Diana got from the public, there’s no limit to what she would do. Except work hard.

    Stunning

  45. Velvet Elvis says:

The dress, the hair, the jewelry…she looks simply gorgeous. I actually think this is the best she’s looked, that I can remember.

  46. She looks like she puts her makeup on with a cement trowl. And the eyes! She could haunt houses.

  47. MrsK says:

Her overall look was fine. The dress fit properly, her hair was well-styles, jewelry was fine. But why in heaven’s name does she look so utterly exhausted? I won’t speculate if she has valid reasons to lie awake all night. Many of us do, and it has nothing to do with material comfort. You never know what burden another person might be carrying in their heart. But even us peasants can buy and apply makeup that lets us look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when the occasion calls for it, no matter what worries we have. So why does she look so damn exhausted? She can get the best makeup wizards in all the land to apply a touch of highlighter here and a smidge of smoky liner there. Even the Queen gets good advice on how to look radiant (the diamond tiaras definitely boost the glam factor, but still).

I can tell, all is not well, girlfriend’s got a miserable existence !!!!

OMG Never saw this coming on Brexit.

  50. Dinah says:

It’s like a time-warp in the twilight zone. Kate is re-living Diana’s early life with Charles. Diana’s sister, Sarah, who once dated Charles, developed an eating disorder. Then Diana developed an eating disorder. Then Diana’s sister-in-law (at the time), Victoria Lockwood, developed an eating disorder. There was a formal dinner where Diana’s loutish brother, Charles Spencer, alluded in his speech to Victoria’s severe eating disorder to a stunned and awkward response, something to the effect of: “Those who know her, know she’s thin and she’s certainly thick.” Ouch.
