Team Kanye: Taylor Swift ‘is a liar & nothing she says will change the truth’

wenn23819716

Many of us have been wondering what Taylor Swift’s next move will be following Kim Kardashian’s Snapchat reveal of Taylor’s complete misrepresentation of her conversation with Kanye West about the song “Famous.” In the hours that followed Kim’s Snapchat release, Taylor’s team tried valiantly to change the conversation to one of possible criminal charges and civil litigation, which is an interesting development but it doesn’t solve Taylor’s core problem: now we all know that she’s lied about him and misrepresented their interactions. So playing the victim in the same old way doesn’t play the same way it once did. Keep that in mind when you read these quotes from “sources” at People Mag.

For the past seven years, Taylor Swift and Kanye West have had a roller coaster of a relationship. While the pair appeared to bury the hatchet last year when Swift presented West with a prestigious award at the MTV Video Music Awards, a source close to Swift tells PEOPLE exclusively West has continuously taken shots at the singer throughout her career.

“Since 2009, when Kanye West stormed the stage and ripped the microphone out of Taylor’s hand, he has been trying to rewrite history; one that includes President Obama calling him a jackass because of his actions,” says the Swift source. “For seven years, Kanye has continued to attack Taylor, attempting to incite hatred for her at his live shows and on social media, even going so far as portraying her naked in his most recent music video. His obsession with and harassment of Taylor over the last seven years is unhealthy and if he were not a celebrity, he would be considered a stalker.”

After West released his song “Famous” – which includes controversial lyrics about Swift – in February, the pair’s feud was reignited. Swift denied the rapper’s claims that she had approved of the lyrics and suggested the line, “I made that bitch famous.”

“Once again, Taylor Swift is playing the victim. Shocking!” a source close to West tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Funny, she didn’t think he was harassing her when she thanked him for being so thoughtful and considerate when he called to get her permission for ‘Famous,’ or for the kind gesture of sending her flowers after she presented him with the MTV Video Vanguard Award. As the recordings reveal, she is a liar and nothing she says will change the truth.”

[From People]

Sigh… Kanye genuinely did do something terrible to Taylor Swift back in 2009. And he paid for it. He had to go on an apology tour, he had to disappear for more than a year, and the 2009 VMAs are still a defining moment of his life. That 2009 moment also garnered an enormous amount of public sympathy for Swift, and gave her the poor-little-girl/victim narrative that she’s been riding ever since. And it does feel as if there’s a general sense that… Taylor needs to grow up? She needs to stop thinking that she can keep playing that narrative over and over, and that at some point people will recognize that she’s an adult woman making adult choices, including the choice to completely misrepresent Kanye West.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s favorite video director Joseph Kahn – the man responsible for the neo-colonialist fantasy video “Wildest Dreams” amongst others – has been tweeting about the Swift-West-Kardashian drama. And he went too far.

You see the narrative Team Swift is using, right? I’m not imagining that? Words being used in the actual quote from Taylor’s team in People Magazine: ripped, incite, stalk, harass, unhealthy, murder, innocent, blonde. There’s absolutely a racial element to this story too, right? And where were all of these concerns when Taylor introduced Kanye at the 2015 VMAs? Where was this narrative when she and Kanye went out to lunch last year? Where was this dog-whistle racism when he called her to ask her permission to name-check her in a song?

There’s a fantastic article about how Taylor Swift is “the Most Dangerous Type of White Woman.” I’ll link it if that’s ok. It talks about how her perpetual victimization of herself creates danger for others.

      • C says:

        This article is awesome.

      • Lama Bean says:

VSB can be hilarious and on point about assessments sometimes.

      • Lucretia says:

“Right now she’s with the emo guy from Thor.” HA!

      • Betti says:

Like this is my new favourite quote, like, EVER:

“Kardashian” is actually Swahili for “White woman with receipts.”

      • stinky says:

        Great article.
        Sad comment thread.

      • Fiorella says:

I like the writing style and how deep the perspective is. But I’m not convinced or persuaded about the TS situation that she’s a darth Susan or that it’s a similar dynamic (and only for white Women?!) to lynching. Forgive me if I’m missing something about lynching, I went to cnd public school. But it wasn’t ALWAYS an evil plotting white woman behind it even in rape cases was it? I’m sure that could have been the scenario sometimes but it wasn’t the dominating reason so I found the whole piece a stretch. I mean black people cant be jerks? They ignore what Kanye did because he’s like a baby? It’s obviously not an unbiased piece. SO MANY articles these days (huff po even) seem like they should have been reread daily for a few days , editing all the while, maybe re researched after that. They just seem to be a draft more than a persuasive idea.

      • Kiliki says:

        Agrees here, Stinky.

      • Kami says:

We may as well call her Darth Taylor from now on lol 😂 #darthtaylor

    • C says:

She is dangerous indeed. But I think people are starting to realise that…I hope so.

    • mila says:

but this was all KK mess. and KK is not black. i have no idea if TS is racist, but this is KK using KW and TS to gain publicity. of course, TS is not a victim, but then again its not like she did something that awful.

KW and TS would be fine if he did not decide to marry into that family. his career would not be in such a mess. his public image is destroyed for good.

the only winner is KK with her sisters and momager.

      • Tiffany says:

Ahhh deflection. Thought it would take longer.

      • Palar says:

I didn’t realise that Kanye’s career is more of a mess now since marrying Kim.

      • Lynnie says:

To be fair, his music has slumped quite a bit after marrying her. Now is because of her, or is it just a creative slump we don’t know but the timing doesn’t help lol.

      • CareBear says:

Is Mila from T Swift’s PR team? Been reading her comments these past few days vigorously defending Swifty.

      • mila says:

CareBear I wish… I bet they get the money. I never visited TS threads before so your conclusion made me laugh.

I just think this is all done in favor of one family. Some people will see this as racist, but lets not forget that even president Obama called out Kimye. So, this is KK trying to play games using her husband and TS.

I get that people hate TS, but at least she is talented and a decent role model for teens. Kardashian family on the other hand is toxic. I do not care about TS, I just cannot stand that family. It is as simple as that.

      • cyn says:

Hold up! In what universe is Taylor Swift a good role model? She is the epitome of a mean girl. She’s a bully. She’s a lying manipulative pos. Find a new hero dude. This one only speaks to lack of character.

      • Sarah says:

The narrative is that Taylor is painting herself as the widdle, innocent white girl with the big, scary black man stalking her.

        Very obvious.

I am slowly starting to see this about Swifty and the way her personality is structured. Wherever she goes, others must take the fall around her, because she cannot take rejection and nothing can ever be her fault. Automatically than, someone else is the bad one, and Swift is the victim. This time she got caught setting someone else up to take the blame , and even if we don’t like who did it (Kardashians), at least it will be a lot harder for her to keep wrecking people’s reputations. And yes, I do think Swifty and her team were aware on some level, when they threw Kanye under the bus, that he was the big bad black man and Swifty was the sweet little white girl and they could lie and be believed. I don’t like Kanye either, just to put that out there. But Swifty, you’ve been caught.

At least this has been a distraction from thinking about the trump lunatics at the RNC convention….*shudders*

      • Azurea says:

You’ve just described the usual type of machinations of a person with NPD.
TH is in for a world of hurt, sooner or later.

      • MiniMii says:

Azurea – I was thinking the same thing: NPD

My Mom has it (I suspect) and while not nearly as extreme, I see the same “nothing is my fault, I’m better than everyone, poor-me I’m always a victim” behaviours in TS.

TH needs to run far & fast, because Swifty *will* throw him under the bus at some point and walk away without a glance back – all the while writing “He done me wrong” songs.

      • annaloo. says:

        THIS.

And it further validates my feelings that we see such a trend of people not taking personal responsibility anymore, the special snowflakes of all stripes who are never wrong, that others are haters against them, and/or everything they do is so important. We are talking about BOTH Taylor and Kanye here, but to Kanye’s credit, he has never ridden the innocent-girl-done-wrong-by-others as Taylor has… but he’s certainly played his cards of self importance and self aggrandizement. Today’s celebrity culture is so narcissistic, it’s poisonous.

      • Katherine says:

Completely agree with that entire first paragraph.

    • Cecilia says:

Not that she can choose her fans but apparently she is something like the white supremacists “manic pixie dream girl” – dangerous indeed

      • Onerous says:

Whoa. I had no idea all that was happening…

      • Wren says:

Good gravy, I don’t like Swift very much but you can’t hold that crazy person’s rambling against her. Even if she is a narcissist who likes to cry “woe is poor little blonde me!”

      • Jwoolman says:

The one thing Swift has no control over is her pale skin and blonde hair and I assume blue or other non-brown eyes. I’d rather see people criticize the behavior of all three (Taylor, Kanye, and Kim) rather than focusing on factors outside their control.

However, systemic racism definitely can be a factor in how they are perceived by others. People seem to be getting mixed up between what Taylor herself actually does and says vs what other people are saying both pro and con. That includes her official people, since if they are quoted by a magazine such as People- yes, they can get it wrong (both the official folk and the mag). The assumption seems to be that Swift has far more power than she could possibly have and that skews perception also.

      • La Ti Da says:

I feel like I just fell down the rabbit hole after reading that article and another its linked to.

    • detritus says:

That’s a great article. Funny too.
Darth Susan is a perfectly apt description.

    • HH says:

Are we all just gonna skip over the fact that some called Taylor “most talented”….???????? LIKE….

    • shoochai says:

Great article. Totally on point. Also, this line had me rolling: “Kardashian” is actually Swahili for “White woman with receipts.”:D

    • Sarah says:

I was saying this yesterday. Taylor has been playing the virginal white woman being attacked by the big, bad black man. This is NOT accidental. I wonder when Taylor will fake-sing at a Trump rally???

    • Obviouschillin says:

Uhhhh…. This whole thing is so obviously about garnering publicity for, and ensuring everyone will want to watch the making of Pablo Documentary.

  2. jeanpierre says:

She and her team are the absolute worst. This is disgusting and yes there is absolutely a racial element to this story. A HUGE one.

  3. Sixer says:

Well, I wish they would ALL get in the sea.

But um… yeah, Kaiser, you are right. Both “sources” and Kahn are using dog whistles. That’s absolutely, utterly, not on, even in this childish and public spat about such trivialities in life as pop songs and Instagram likes.

    • Aussie girl says:

I don’t think we should inflict that on any ocean life…..😂 I’m sure at this stage Tom would keep running along the beach while they all screamed for help.

      • Sixer says:

HAHA! (Get in the sea is actually a real idiom/euphemism for bugger off. I didn’t make that one up. Honest.)

      • Aussie girl says:

Another one!!!! So it’s like telling someone to go take a hike..? Fascinating, why travel when I can just post on blogs. 😊 Xo

      • Sixer says:

I try to spread REAL Britisher English (not that posh nonsense promulgated by the likes of LEGS) wherever I can!

      • Bonzo says:

I like confounding my friends with real Britisher English. It’s gone tits up / Pete Tong, chippy git / wanker / cockwomble and ya plonker, Rodney! are probably my favorites.

Sixer’s good for Euro TV drama recommendations as well. I’ve been most appreciative.

      • Sixer says:

Imagining Bonzo doing this has always made my day!

BTW: Brief Encounters, ITV. It’s set during the 1980s and is about women doing Ann Summers parties (first big party planning lingerie and sex toy business in the UK) and how the men can’t cope with the OUTRAGE. It’s a fab little show.

      • Bonzo says:

Well that’s an interesting plot concept. I’ll check it out. I’m just finishing up Spiral and starting Dicte on Netflix. I haven’t been back to ITV since finishing Marcella, which is also now on Netflix. I’ll check out Brief Encounters.

I’m sad Mum is over already. I loved that funny little show.

      • Sixer says:

I really enjoyed Dicte. And Mum was just lovely.

    • Christin says:

Do we allow Tom an escape opportunity? Surely he realizes he’s going to be covered with fleas from being around this mess? It’s gone beyond a tank top and love on the rocks / roll out Mum photo shoots.

      • Aussie girl says:

I think post swifty, Tom will go underground, date a commoner and do some theatre to convey a serious thespian image…… Plus whip himself every night as penence for briefly selling his soul for fame😁

      • Sixer says:

Yesterday, I was fantasising that he escaped by becoming a Monty Python Knight of Ni and coconut cantering his way out of the wood alive. I haven’t thought of a new escape opportunity for today yet.

He could, I suppose, become a method actor instead of a RADA one. Then he would become an actual god, not a pretend one, and would be able to whip up a whirlwind or somesuch, and spirit himself off to Oz.

How’s that for mixed cultural reference AND an escape route all in one?

    • lilacflowers says:

Time for Taylor and Kanye to take a long walk off a short pier arm in arm.

Which will save us from the drama of the inevitable Kimye divorce.

    • Insomniac says:

Those aren’t dog whistles. They’re more like train horns …

  4. Pinky says:

Taylor Swift is the worst kind of everything: woman, white person, white woman, feminist, human being, being, “race baiter,” “singer,” brat, affluenza “victim,” victim, girl, teenager, a**hole.”

    –TheRealPinky

    • frisbee says:

Yes, that sum it all up nicely.

    • yolo112 says:

Agreed. I have to constantly remind myself that she is 26… twentyfreakinsix…

    • Cricket says:

Pinky.. can you pretty please add ‘blonde’ to your list? not all blondes are evil.. she gives blondes a bad name (in Bon Jovi song style replacing ‘love’ with ‘blonde’)..

      thanks

  5. Roxane says:

The coded racism is just… Cosmo has produced a great think-piece about it. http://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/celebs/a61501/taylor-swift-kim-kardashian-exposed/

    • Mary Mary says:

Maybe, just maybe, this is what Kanye was inarticulately trying to point out when he jumped on stage and said Beyonce should have received the award for a better video, etc.

Or perhaps a more talented person of color should have been awarded.

You know? Think about it. Beyonce dances better than TS, is a better singer than TS.

So much of what one witnesses in the music business is appropriation of music by whites without giving due credit to where the roots of the music inspiration and talent comes from.

  6. Nev says:

Hahaha now it’s about race. She’s incredibly SAD. Loser.

    • Cricket says:

I think Swifty is seriously making a career ending – like crash ending if she goes down and keeps pushing this into a race thing. she should have fell on her sword, admitted she lied and went on to live in her Cinderella castle with her prince… um, just like Calvin Harris recommended she do..

I really wonder what would have happened if she just stayed with Calvin Harris and had a low key summer dancing to her EDM song written by her Swede name? Now she is literally hiding in a penthouse in Australia – not such a Gold Coast for Swifty is it? How is she gonna sneak out of Oz? Like Ronda Rousey with a hoodie and purple pillow hiding her face?

  7. Jen says:

I’m so disgusted by that tweet. Yep, Taylor Swift getting called out on her self-righteous BS after years of getting away with it is the exact same thing as a mother being stabbed to death. Unreal. Between that and her friend’s “prayers” for North tweets last night, how is she not shutting this down? Surely such a savvy self-marketer understands none of this is going to make her look better.

    • Tiffany says:

Just goes to show when left to her own devices, she is petty, vindictive and most importantly, not smart. I never understood this savvy, smart businesswoman narative when her interviews and presence has been anything but.

      • holly hobby says:

Her daddy hired the right people to manage her career and empire. This one is dumb as a box of rocks – this was before the video of her phone conversation. Really read her lyrics. Carole King she is not!

  8. respect says:

Kanye benefits here by changing the narrative from kanye is unstable and crazy to kanye is righteously wronged.

    • Kiliki says:

Taylor Swift is the ultimate Ice Queen…and not in the sympathetic Frozen Elsa type way.

I am absolutely shocked she did this. Never considered myself naive, always had a soft spot for Kanye, but I cannot believe she went this low or is this low and EVEN MORE she was legit exposed. That proof is so rare!

  9. paolanqar says:

    #SureTaylor

  10. jinni says:

Yup there is a racial element and also see how that got another minority to tweet that Nicole Brown comparison. Probably to reduce the chance of her team’s attack as being seen as racist. They aren’t slick.

If they want to compare this situation to serious criminal acts then she needs to be lumped in with all the other people that constantly blame imaginary black assailants for crimes that “victim” in fact committed or covered up. She thought she was going to pull a classic ” the black guy did it” mess that a lot of white people have done to get out of their shady mess ( ex. Rosewood, Susan Smith killed her kids and blamed some black guys, Charles Stuart killed his pregnant wife and blamed some black guys, etc).

    • Nev says:

      WORD UP.

    • Jegede says:

      Good points.

    • Missy says:

I am livid and ashamed that a man of Asian descent would tweet something so tone deaf, especially in light of all the issues the black community is facing today. Kanye has his issues, but he’s no OJ Simpson, and Taylor is no Nicole. The big, dangerous black man coming for the little blonde victim narrative disgusts me.

Joseph really wants to be on Taylor’s payroll, but there are way better ways to do that. I recommend not making problematic racial assumptions.

      • Erinn says:

I can’t imagine she appreciates his input either. Honestly – who in their right mind would want that kind of support. I cringed when I read that tweet this morning. It’s disgusting.

      • mee says:

Disgusting. he should know better than to say something like that.

    • sunny says:

This is so shady! Way to create/reinforce a dangerous narrative Taylor.

And honestly this is why Kim had to release those tapes(though she waited for the most opportune time) because the general public was never going to believe Kayne over Taylor without proof, for many reasons, including several that are racial.

      Sigh.

    • FingerBinger says:

@Jinni Comparing Swift to Susan Smith and Charles Stuart is just as bad as Kahn comparing Swift to Nicole Brown.

      • jinni says:

Maybe. But my point isn’t that she murdered anyone just that she, like those people, conveniently threw a black person under the bus when they were in the wrong. There is a history of making black people scapegoats and in her own way she and her team are continuing that tradition.

  11. Grace says:

Wow, Joseph Kann, way to go to make the ‘innocent blond woman’ more unsympathetic than she already is. Are they friends? I don’t know this person but he sounds like he frequently talks with his arse.

Good lord, ‘innocent blond woman’ used in such a context. Is this real?

    • Tiffany says:

Joseph Kahn at one time was one of the most popular music directors back in the day. He was in the top four with F. Gary Gray, Antoine Fuqua and Francis Lawrence. Most of his work was with urban artist. Then he directed a film, Torque, starting Ice Cube. Well, something went down because Cube never spoke of him ( but I totally believed his used is pull to end him because, hello, he is Ice Cube) and Faison Love went OFF about him in a interview. His career was never the same after, look at the career of the other directors I mentioned, and these tweet are not that surprising.

    • Jegede says:

      They’re probably friends.

But more than that, he probably fantasies about blonde women 24/7.

This beef and his crazy tweet is a putting voice to his desires.

    • OhDear says:

Kahn really should be ashamed of himself for that tweet; it’s wrong on multiple levels.

      • KBeth says:

It’s positively vile. It only makes TS look worse to associate with someone so disgusting & tactless.

  12. littlemissnaughty says:

Okay this is getting out of hand. If the only adult person in this triangle of terror is Kim Kardashian, there’s a problem.

I feel like people are taking this all way too seriously. They’re all known liars. So what if this time Swifty got caught? Like we didn’t know she was a liar before. Didn’t Kanye once claim that Obama calls him at home??? And do not get me started on Kim. I don’t feel bad for any of them, they’re all most likey going to make even more money off of this.

The one thing that made me throw up in my mouth is the “innocent blonde woman” shit. STFU. Why blonde? Why is that so important? That man is gross and Swift needs to do some damage control asap.

    • Sixer says:

I agree – although I also confess to flailing about in ignorance much of the time, as I don’t follow pop or reality TV AT ALL.

But from that position of ignorance, what I see is a childish spat of the type that seems to keep this whole industry of pop/reality/gossip going round has suddenly turned into Trumpesque (or even Brexitesque!) racially coded dogwhistling.

So, at this point, sideline involvement of my favourite mickey-taking target aka LEGS or not, I think I am OUT.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Also, I think Karma will sort this out eventually. I’m not sure though that Tom knows what he’s gotten himself into. He’s probably not unintelligent but I don’t see him on the same media-manipulating level as these idiots.

      • Sixer says:

Well, he’s certainly getting a trenchant lesson in the downsides of media manipulation. Perhaps that’s exactly what he needed and he’ll come out of it a better man, sans inspirational quoting, Hallmark archives, coy gobbledegook and all the rest of it.

Leaving just the worthwhile bits: ie, the LEGS!

      • frisbee says:

Yup I’ve been out on this for a while now, it’s got extremely silly and childish and I can’t find anything funny in it anymore, its just cringe making and embarrassing. It’s got so bad I’m actually feeling rather sorry for Legs, I’ve no doubt he signed up, but I do doubt he signed up for any of this…talk about being careful what you wish for – this is a prime example of being bit on the bum.

    • K.C. says:

It is being taken way too seriously and blown out of proportion for what it actually is. It’s a he said/she said that was stupid to begin with and should’ve been dropped months ago, and now it has been dragged to the surface again in a more dramatic fashion. All three of these people are widely disliked, and are all behaving shady and immature. And as I keep saying, the sad thing is I feel like in the beginning, Kanye and Taylor were both fairly well-intentioned. To be totally honest I’m not even sure what they’re arguing about at this point.

Kahn’s comparison was out of bounds. I thought it was a reach to bring racism into this, but he clearly did. Defend your pal all you want, but that’s gross.

      • Wren says:

Agree. This is stupid and petty and deeply high school. I don’t know what possessed Kahn to think that tweet was a good idea, it’s way over the line and brings a needless gravity to what is really a he said/she said argument that should have been over for years yet nobody can let it go. Yes, Taylor is a narcissistic mean girl who lies to make herself look good. Not news, we knew that. Yes, Kanye is delusional, makes grandiose claims about himself, and writes mysogenistic lyrics. Again, we knew that.

      • Noname says:

        Agree, KC.

I cringed when I saw Kahn’s tweet and asked.. why did he go there?

      • Cathy C says:

And yet here you are day after day defending Taylor Ssssssssssswift whenever you can because of course here you are not “taking it seriously” lol GTFOH!!!

  13. Priscilla says:

This is completely vile and loses ALL the goodwill I had left. I get being caught out and making mistakes. Covering up your mistakes with this garbage slightly-beneath the surface racism is disgusting. Get out, Taylor, and call your friends.

  14. Naya says:

You are not imagining the dog whistles, Kaiser. She has known since February that she needs to either speak truth or be outed but rather than make peace this is what she has been up to. Drafting and saving a denial on her IPhone and preparing her surrogates to retort in language that would make David Duke proud.

    • Jwoolman says:

Someone else has already pointed out that if you exit the app she used to write the response and go back into it later, you can search for it and it will show as a search and not notes. Just because some guy claimed she wrote it in February because it showed as a search does not make that true. She could have drafted it recently, let it sit for a bit (as everyone should) and then went back into the app to pull it out for posting.

Although there would be nothing wrong if she did draft it earlier, since Kanye has been claiming he had a video for a long time. She may not have felt it was necessary to pursue it at that time. But most likely it was written more recently.

      • Naya says:

I would rather chew off my tongue than be a Swiftie but I were one, I would focus my energies addressing the assertion that she is activating her racist fanbase via her surrogate here. Just some advice for her defenders 😀

  15. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Wow. That tweet was gross. Sigh. This is EXACTLY why so many people from celebrities to regular individuals have beef with Taylor.

You CAN’T live a life where other people who don’t have the perception of being a ‘good and pure’ as you are just fodder for your next or spin or single or Grammy speech. We all have bad moments in our lives and I will 100% say Taylor didn’t deserve the crap Kanye originally pulled and he was 100% wrong but Jesus Christ he didn’t kill her cat or physically harm her. He was wrong, he apologized, he suffered.

But to this day everything she does is a little act of revenge against him and that day. Talking about Nicole’s murder, her shallow friends suddenly wanting to reference BLM and the terrorism tragedies now that she’s not having a good Twitter day, all of it starts to turn the stomach. You’re tall blonde, white, and successful Taylor – for God’s sake you hit the genetic jackpot, now calm the hell down.

  16. OrigialTessa says:

Team Kanye. He did the right thing by asking her, and she got up on stage at the Grammy’s and smeared him. It’s like your worst nightmare Regina George moment when you think you’re cool with someone, you think they’re your friend, and they completely sabotage you in public. She’s dirty. He got drunk once and humiliated himself, and Taylor rode that moment to the bank and back for 7 years. Enough, Taylor! You’re done.

    • ds says:

Have to agree with you on team Kanye. Also documenting that phone call should be ok. If you can’t get a written statement, recorded audio that hasn’t been tampered with could be used as an agreement. He did a proper thing.

  17. Talie says:

Kim getting involved removed the racial narrative. She knew that the black man would never win against the white girl. Taylor’s PR team has relied on this nefarious narrative for far too long and the chickens have come home to roost.

  18. TheOtherMaria says:

    😮😮😮

I’m legit sitting here with my mouth open, that tweet is beyond vile and classless, just wow.

As for the racial element….I would say her PR’s spin on Kanye is playing into a narrative that can be perceived as dangerous because of systemic racism, it’s so unbelievably subtle but definitely there.

  19. Margo S. says:

Yeam Swift is messing up huge. You try and sue kanye and you are officially labeled a brat. They keep playing the victim card but she’s clearly not because she knew about the lyric. What she should do is just apologize! Say I messed up. I’m human, I have a lot to learn still. Her team is doing a terrible job at getting her back on the publics good graces.

  20. Karen says:

Swift need to regroup. Legal action only will mean more info is released in court and therfore to the press. That is only going to be worse, and it’s not like they don’t have the money to keep up with Tays legal actions, they’ll go to the end.

She needs to regroup. This is her summer of love, right? She needs to just enjoy her time off, go quiet, and come back to drop a new record. And a new image: no anti-Kanye, and no anti-Calvin songs. Something a bit more grown up.

    • holly hobby says:

Exactly. All her team has to do is look up Tom Cruise’s lawsuit with the tabloid. The depositions made him look worse. That’s why he settled out of court as soon as he can. Missy Taylor, do you really want to expose more lies in a lawsuit?

  21. Lucy says:

In no way would this be considered stalking. Taylor needs to take several seats. She’s been using him and this whole situation for PR nearly as much as he has.

  22. Christin says:

This has gone from mild amusement to hitting one of my biggest personal peeves. — When someone’s friends or associates say awful things on their behalf, and the person won’t step up and say something, ask them to dial it back, etc. I don’t buy the excuse along the lines, ‘I can’t help what they said.’

Yes you can. And, you could speak for yourself instead of hiding behind others.

    • Noname says:

How do you know she didn’t ask him to dial it back?

      • Christin says:

If she did, why hasn’t she publicly indicated so?

I would be distancing myself from that ASAP — on record. Did she do that? Is she just conveniently ignoring it, despite all the attention it’s getting?

      • Marianne says:

Maybe her team has told her not say anything else publicly for awhile *shrugs*. Who knows, There isn’t a lot of info out there right now to judge too much.

      • Naya says:

@Marianne Why would her team tell her to not publicly dissociate herself from racist sentiments? Unless of course, they are pulling a Trump i.e. Covertly addressing their racist fanbase.

    • ann says:

      Chelsea Handler comes to mind.

      • Christin says:

Exactly. There are several examples I’ve seen of celebrities sitting back while their inner circle says vile things.

  23. Annemarie says:

Her supporters treat her like she’s a 5 year old girl. Some of her fans on Tumblr were complaining about how Kim, a 35 year old woman with kids, is wrong for targetting a 26 year old…as if a 26 year old is not GROWN. Only white people get the benefit of being seen as kids in need of protection at all costs. I am no fan of Kanye, but I am glad to see her taken down a peg or too. She has portrayed herself as his “victim” for far too long. Looking back, what he did wasn’t even that horrible.

    • OrigialTessa says:

Right? It was the VMA’s! He was drunk and he made a scene. The scene had nothing to do with who actually won, just that Beyonce didn’t. Somehow Taylor managed to make it only about her, but it wasn’t really. Kanye was upset Beyonce lost, not that Taylor won. He didn’t know who she was. Disrespectful and out of turn? Yes! But he paid for that over and over, and apologized properly. She was the one that never let it go. Not him.

    • Bluebelle says:

@Annemarie you hit the nail on the head. Taylor is not an Olsen twin on Full House. She’s a grown ass woman! She’s closer to 30 than to 20, and disagreements occur at any age. As for Kim, being a mother doesn’t make you impervious to arguments and problems, as if you stopped being who you were before giving birth. Also, what Khan said was beyond stupid, that statement about Nicole Brown was reaching hard.

    • Nev says:

      WORD.

  24. Barnes says:

That People Mag quote is filled with coded language. Kanye “stormed” the stage and “ripped” the mic out of her hand? What he did in ’09 was a real jackass move, but that source is blantanly painting him as a King Kong figure. The man is about 5″7.

  25. Nikkisixx says:

Innocent blonde woman vs angry black man right? Why would an innocent blonde woman ever do anything like lie or scheme or manipulate when the angry black man is always there to be the scapegoat. I hope more people see these tweets. I know it’s not Taylor who said them but it goes right along with her image when she constantly has the token black friend as an accessory on her squad….

As for one of the most talented people…..hahahahahha

  26. Ariel says:

Ms Swift needs to turn off hey social media, send her “advisors” on vacation, f-k Hiddleston and explore Australia.
No more statements, no more wasting precious minutes of her life (and ours).

Y’all are right. She’s been playing innocent white girl victim for too long. She’s been busted.

She can come back next year and tell us she feels like an asshole for lying about Mr. West.

    There, problem solved.

    • Anna says:

Makes sense to me. She’s a pill, but Kanye’s off his rocker. He needs to take something from this, e.g, he has used other people’s, names, images, intellectual property etc too often. Is he relying on it? Mostly, let’s not take these two thirsty media w$&@es antics and turn it into a race issue. Back up TAYLOR SWIFT TEAM. YOU CONSTANTLY CROSS THE LINE.

  27. eileen says:

Here we go again a new chapter is written in the saga of our perpetual victim St.Taylor Swift, sacred virgin of pop princesses. Let’s all bow down and kiss her ring and throw our pennies into her fountain and lap up all the bullshit her team of handlers is pumping out. So you have a recording of her talking and agreeing to the song by Kanye? Hell no that’s not what she MEANT! Kanye and Kim are so mean and rude and oppressive! How dare anyone not believe the gospel of SWIFTY! Girl,please-I’m so done with checking out the important news of this world and seeing articles about St.Swift (as if in the annals of history she will be mentioned) when the true crime in this world is how much $$$$ this immature, emotionally stunted girl-woman has made being an air headed country singer-turned-pop-princess. I never thought someone would compare criticism of another human being who has been proved to be a vindictive liar to murder of Nicole Brown Simpson!

  28. lilacflowers says:

Did nobody on Team Kanye think to tell him NOT to write a song about her? Or once he had written it, NOT to go forward with it? Yes, Taylor is a manipulative brat who is behaving very badly. But this particular chapter wouldn’t be happening at all if someone had curbed his obsession with her. And he IS obsessed with her, in a very twisted way. There are no innocent parties here.

And I would love to know if Kim has a video obtaining consent from Anna Wintour, Rihanna, and Amber, along with Taylor to being depicted naked in a bed with Bill Cosby and the jerk she married in her bag of tricks? Or are we all just supposed to forget her husband’s decision to exploit those women?

    Team EveryoneShouldShutUp&GoAway!

    • perplexed says:

He didn’t sound obsessed with her on the phone call. He sounded friendly and pleasant from what I could tell. Taylor could have just told him on the call not to write about her, but she didn’t — he gave her an out, and she didn’t take it.

When he wrote the song, he probably thought he, as well as Taylor, would benefit (i.e names in the media, constant PR, buzz, etc). Perhaps she thought the same too, but then back-tracked when she realized everybody was up in arms for her.

I don’t think he remotely sounds obsessed with her. Just sounds like he wanted buzz for his album, and asked Taylor for permission to create the buzz. And apparently she obliged until it wasn’t convenient for her anymore. To be fair, I can understand her not liking the song or the video — what I don’t get is why she released a statement where she misrepresented events. And why did she do this with people who have nothing to lose? Kim and Kanye don’t have pristine reputations to protect.

    • OrigialTessa says:

He didn’t write a song about her. He wrote like two lines. He sings and raps about lots of people. But Taylor is a perpetual victim, so of course you think the song is about her.

      • LB says:

That’s what I thought. The song is about fame. Not just Taylor.

He’s free to write and sing about whatever his experiences are – just like everyone says about Taylor, right? That she’s only writing about her experiences when writing about her ex-boyfriends and enemies. The only difference is he was kind enough to run most, if not all, of it by her. And she threw it back in his face.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Fine, lines about her. He shouldn’t have written lines about her; he courted trouble. He’s bad; she’s bad. They both know it and should stay far away from each other.

      • Noname says:

I have to agree with Lilacflowers, he courted this and wanted it. He’s also somewhat obsessed with her… maybe it was an obsession to take her down a few notches but nonetheless he’s been obsessed. Just like he was obsessed with Kim.
No one sees anything wrong with this? I don’t care that TS played the victim card, she often does and everyone has known this for years. What did he think was going to happen?

      • Mira says:

Well he didn’t sound obsessed on the tape, he sounded friendly and like he was going out of his way to get assurances she didn’t find it offensive. I would say hes no more obsessed with her than she is with him. To go on that grammy stage and do exactly the opposite of what she had said to, even referencing that song in her grammy speech a smack down of him shows that she has been obsessed with getting her revenge on him. As far as putting her in the song well i don’t like the lyrics but to be fair she has made a career out of making not so nice songs about other famous people.

    • BunnyBear says:

Taylor could have told him not to when he explicitly called her to ask if she was ok with it?
And I don’t think it’s fair to say “he’s obsessed with her in a very twisted way.” That’s pretty close to the extremely coded language the Swift source uses in the People article.

    • Pepper says:

I don’t get why people say he’s obsessed with her? After the VMA scandal died down and everyone had had their say he pretty much ignored her for years, not in a pointed way, just in a ‘not on my radar’ way. She on the other hand brought up the VMA incident at every conceivable opportunity.

She reached out to him while doing her PR makeover before 1989 was released and they were friendly for a while, with her initiating contact as much as him.

He wrote two lines about her in a song about fame, called her as a friend for her ok, she gave it and he released it. Then she lied and created drama. So he responded to that. I don’t get how any of this makes him obsessive or stalker-ish.

      • perplexed says:

I think she also tried to invite Jay-Z and Kanye to brunch. They didn’t look all that thrilled with the idea.

    • cakecakecake says:

He is obsessed and its tired as heck.

what other GENIUS rapper is using Taylor in his work, its so ovedone. I can AT least admit to that.

She is no angel but when will he STOP rapping about her and WHY does he keep doing it. its sooo 2009.

      • maria 2 says:

and of course you only write that he raps about TAYLOR (!!!) no one else. doesn’t every rapper rap about other famous people? Eminem anyone? He needs to ride others cotails to, right? thank heavens for TAYLOR who can lift anyones career!

    • K.C. says:

They’re both to blame for how they behaved at the beginning of this. He KNEW writing about her would be super dramatic. He had the courtesy to give her a heads up, which really was very nice and not something he needed to do (which Taylor noted in her call). But if she was uncomfortable with what he said, she shouldn’t have passively accepted it only to publicly call him out on it later. She’s entitled to change her mind, and she’s entitled to be hurt by what he wrote. That’s human. She heard it in full context and realized it wasn’t what she thought he described. Ok, fine. Reasonable, even. But she should just say so if that’s the case. That would end the mess. All this he said/she said about getting approval really isn’t the point, and I’m not sure why that keeps coming up. He didn’t need her approval, and she didn’t require giving it.

I don’t think either one of them are outright lying, honestly. Seems like they came away from that conversation with different ideas, as many people do when they talk. It’s REALLY not that big of a deal, but they’re making it one. Team Everyone Should Shut Up and Go Away is right.

      • woodstock_schulz says:

@K.C. – exactly! he didn’t need to seek her approval for the two lines in his song referencing her, as others have pointed out, she has blind item songs about all kinds of people and as far as we know has never asked for their permission. In the transcript she clearly acknowledges that he didn’t need to run this past her first. From her reaction, she makes it sound as if she didn’t know what the lyrics were going to be or hadn’t heard the whole song/portion of the song, or something. The video/transcript shows differently. If she changed her mind, or is maintaining that she didn’t hear the context, etc, whatever her excuse is, that’s her prerogative, but she should say so. The stance she is taking about not approving something is making her look like a brat and a liar.

That said, I am very much Team Everyone Shut Up and Go Away.

    • jammypants says:

The video and lyrics are gross but she’s equally obsessed with him. She too wrote a whole song for him a few years back.

  29. Cure says:

Didn’t the KKK call Taylor the perfect aryan woman or something like that? I would’ve had more of a problem with that than anything KW says.

  30. Anna says:

My take on Taylor Swift is that she has co-signed enough nasty stuff her team has put out to make her nasty as well. She promotes herself in an adolescent manner, with the girlfriends club and parties etc., yet she has had adult relationships with more men at her young age than just about any woman I know. Her best bet is to act her age. She never should have taken his call. I believe she was placating him. It sounds so unlike a woman to agree with him about the “have sex with her” comment. It’s a creepy comment and he’s married. At the very least, she would be creeped out. Maybe she liked the idea for publicity, but to say it’s a compliment made me think she was really uncomfortable and running her mouth.

  31. Idon'tCare says:

I think Kanye is obsessed with TS. Wake up Kim!

  32. sensible says:

I wonder how many people here have watched the ‘Famous’ video? Although Kanye likes to think he is all bout the art and has ‘references’ he aludes to in interviews, its all very first year art school level bullcrap. If I were T.S and I saw what he did to my likeness in that crass piece of sh-t video clip, I would be next level angry too. It seems very convienient to forget so quickly what a weird obessesed misogynist he has been with her. So quick to defend a man that really is not worth defending …..no wonder all her friends are tweeting, however inappropriately.

    • Sarah says:

She’s using racist themes to try to hide the fact that she lied and got caught.

“Big, black man stalking widdle white girl. She’s blonde! Has blue eyes! Protect her!!!!!!”

And FWIW, I’m blonde with blue eyes, too.

  33. swak says:

There is something off about all this to me. First, yes, Taylor should have owned the conversation from the beginning. But Kim & Kanye are going to all lengths to really bring Taylor Swift down. I get putting it out there to give your side of the story (both sides). Both parties need to grow the heck up and let it go. In the scheme of life, this is barely a glitch. Both are getting publicity, good and bad. As others have said, both are losers in this.

    • perplexed says:

” But Kim & Kanye are going to all lengths to really bring Taylor Swift down.”

Maybe they’re tired of people thinking Kanye is delusional. She put out statements that made him sound crazy and mentally unhinged.

Mind you, I think Kanye has issues. I just don’t think any of them have to do with Taylor Swift. Maybe he’s tired of people thinking he has a mental illness related to Taylor Swift.

      • swak says:

Then go after those people also. I think both parties are idiots at this point in time.

      • Noname says:

Kanye is delusional .. Wiz Khalifa ring a bell? Amber Rose? Or how about his disgusting statement regarding Tyga and Kylie? Or the nonsense he spills about his wife?

Yeah but he’s a victim in the TS narrative..

      • Jwoolman says:

But Kanye is indeed unhinged. Remember Ellen? He has lucid phases but also manic phases. It’s perfectly reasonable to doubt what he says without proof and very suspect when the proof was not put out there immediately in unaltered form. I still don’t understand why he didn’t just post it right away in its entirety or even better just send a copy to Swift. That would be the grownup professional thing to do. Instead, he kept claiming there was video but didn’t produce it when people questioned that claim. That doesn’t sound like Kanye. Did Kim refuse to give it to him or what? And he does obsess over certain people and go way over the cliff about them. Remember Amber Rose? How about Beyoncé? Why are we supposed to believe he’s perfectly rational about Swift?

Has anyone seen and heard a truly unedited version of the phone call anyway? If the call stands alone, why is Kim exerting so much effort to get her interpretation out there in print and social media and tv? What is missing? Why are we supposed to believe Kim the pathological liar that her excerpts are all we need to hear?

A person can be not nice but also wronged. Neither Swift nor Kanye may be villains here, though. I’m willing to believe Kanye just misunderstood what was going on in that phone call and that Swift likewise walked away with the wrong interpretation. If communication were easy, there would be fewer wars. It was an odd dance all round and what Kanye did next with his peculiar video full of naked wax figures was even odder. But so far what we’ve heard confirms that he did not give her the final form of the lyric and in particular not the one part that seems to really bother her. Or are we now supposed to think the lyric was magnificent, wholesome, and wonderful? It’s still obnoxious to me, regardless of how Swift feels about it. (I find the way he talks about his wife in such lyrics equally obnoxious, no matter how accepting Kim claims to be about it.) I didn’t get the impression that Kanye was being deliberately sneaky on the phone call, the lyric was still in a draft stage and he was just letting her know she would be mentioned (not getting approval). I did get the clear feeling that Swift was uncomfortable in the conversation and not being honest about her real reactions, going overboard gushing about how nice Kanye was being to let her know, but did not know how to deal forthrightly with the situation and her mixed feelings. Not a crime and not uncommon. I did not get the feeling that she truly considers him a friend, although I do think Kanye felt she did. Her part of the dance was a combination of distancing and making expected respectful and supportive social noises. Those two need an experienced mediator…. Or at least a joint therapy session.

This is all such a junior high tempest in a teapot that should have been resolved long ago by adults over cups of calming tea. Instead Kim made it all about her leaping to her husband’s rescue, rather belatedly but conveniently in time to help her sagging tv ratings. No matter what Swift’s sins have been in the past or in the present or in the future, the real snake in this particular situation seems to be Kim. Kim is just using the conflict for her own purposes rather than honestly trying to reconcile Kanye and Swift. Kim is doing just the opposite, fanning the flames like a vengeful 13 year old rather than a mother in her mid thirties. Somebody has to act like a grownup here.

Kim’s mother was actually right. They should have just gotten together with Swift and hashed it all out privately. That’s what grownups are supposed to do when there are conflicts. If even Kris Jenner can see that, why praise Kim for acting so juvenile?

      • Noname says:

@jwoolman- When Kris Jenner becomes the voice of reason you know there is a problem. I agree with everything you wrote. I could not have said it better than myself.

Taylor walked right into this and she should have seen this coming. She should have just came out and said yes he ran the lyrics by me, I initially approved but now after hearing the song, I don’t. She didn’t and that was her biggest mistake. Her second is still trying to play the victim when she’s known she needed to retire that narrative 4 years ago. She has issues with admitting mistakes, as evidenced by this.

      • Elle says:

@jwoolman, you are so right. Kanye is clearly having manic phases in interviews, The Ellen show, especially. Rhymefest said that he needs help spiritually and mentally. Even his collaborator Malik Yusef said he wasn’t taking his meds for bipolar schizo disorder, then had to backtrack for fear of reprisal. You can’t trust anything the guy says because he isn’t evaluating his environment in a realistic way, and we know the K clan edits and manipulates all footage. Ask Kris Humphries. Dim just came to Ye’s defense because he is the family’s gravy train.

      • claire says:

LOL. Kanye is delusional. There’s no argument against that. It’s been proven time and again. I would personally be focused more on my husband’s obsession with this woman over anything else.

  34. Neners says:

They really don’t get it. The victim narrative is OVER. Even if it’s true (which I personally don’t think it is), it’s no longer an option on the table as a PR strategy. The more Taylor and company try to run that bs, the more ruthlessly people are going to drag her. That’s what people meant when they said “Taylor Swift is over”. Time to change your approach, honey.

  35. Blip says:

The Summer of Public Relations 2016

  36. “His obsession with and harassment of Taylor over the last seven years is unhealthy and if he were not a celebrity, he would be considered a stalker.”

I love that Taylor is so obsessed with herself she assumes everyone else is obsessed with her too. With Manaj, Swift assumed it was all about her. Now she gets caught lying through her teeth and her defense is that Kanye has an OBSESSION with and HARASSMENT that is UNHEALTHY and he’s a STALKER. I love that she doesn’t realize that the jig is up and everyone is on to her and her antics. Trying to associate her nemesis of the hour with these trigger words to try and deflect attention from her getting caught in a lie is beyond pathetic. Grow up honey. This doesn’t work for you anymore.

  37. Velvet Elvis says:

    #TeamKanye

  38. dotdotdot says:

Time for racism already? Oh Taylor, your team needs to stfu!

  39. Lucy says:

This is turning uglier by the minute. I used to think Taylor would be okay after this. I’m not so sure anymore.

  40. cakecakecake says:

I am by no means a Swifty fan BUT why does he keep poking her?? WHY does he keep talking about her?? Can she put a gag order on him or something??

WHY doesn’t he rap about something else, how about the women he IS/has boinked or something. it just seems like every album has something about Taylor in it. He has a naked likeness of her in the video, its tired.

(I mean I am sick of both of them BUT I was kinda getting into the Tom & Taylor stuff because it was becoming funny)…now we have this.

    • Slushee says:

Me too. Leave her the hell alone to run with her girl squad and churn out her songs. I largely find her inoffensive and bland (lots and lots and lots of girls cultivate a distasteful ‘likeability’ being sugar and sweet).

K is crazed and KW is desperate and TS is their prey. I really think her biggest offence is being blonde, white and successful.

      • Roxane says:

Some people really need to work on their coded racism…

      • maria 2 says:

of course. not that she, you know, lied. Constantly throws others under the bus and sells an image to the media as an innocent angel

      • Noname says:

And Kanye hasn’t said some crazy shit???

What’s worse: her coded racism or his coded misogyny? Or him supporting Tyga banging a barely legal Kylie? That’s acceptable to everyone here?

        Aren’t they both problematic?

      • Roxane says:

Dear Swifties defenser, Kanye West is still a mysonistic idiot i never said otherwise, but you’re all just deflecting, Kanye is awfull so Taylor by oposition is not? I’m sorry but no.
Slushee@ “I really think her biggest offence is being blonde, white and successful. ”
You do realize that she’s sucessful beacause of those atributes, seriously she is the embodiment of mediocrity. And calling her a “prey”??? So yes again, your comment is filled with coded racism, the thing is you don’t even realized it…

      • Plank says:

Racist much? Prey? KS is a woman not some teenager. Is this the same woman that targets individuals in her song lyrics or have we all misinterpreted it after all. Please enlighten us all!

      • Sarah says:

Really? I think you need to take a look at your racism.

    • Ican't says:

      #Cakecakecake

Please stop talking about things you know not about. Funny how your ok with Kanye talking about his exs as long as he’s not talking about “poor” Taylor have two seats.

      • cakecakecake says:

look, I can talk about what I want, its TIRED to keep talking about Taylor. period. He is almost 40yrs old and crazy as heck. YOU can take up for him and buy his tired music but its lame.

I’m sure he appreciates your undying yipping, LOL. If you read correctly, I do not care about Taylor and want him to stop singing about her, like some deranged fool. yall bringing up Eninem, from how many years ago?? LOL
        pathetic.

    • claire says:

Wait, so talking about his obsession with her now is racism? Lordy, y’all are really really reaching.

  41. Slushee says:

Chr**t. TS didn’t engage with them. She never wanted to engage with them. The Ks are trash and Kanye is unstable. Somehow TS has gotten dragged into their world. Who the f endorses being called ‘that bitch’?! It’s derogatory, dismissive and a million other things besides. Everything that would smart with a hardworking self-made woman.

She should have admitted her part in the conversation, and left it at that, but now here she is at the centre of their kind of drama. And the Ks stay relevant and newsworthy for another week.

TS is just a girl who’s written some songs. She probably wants to be popular and liked. She uses her life as material for her work. She works hard.

She’s really really not so different to your average 20 something girl other than her relatively boring music becoming hugely popular and successful. Instead here she is in a dogfight with a idiot who can’t let go, and his trashy wife who has nothing to lose. And a world of social media who want to burn the girl who made good on her music, because they probably wouldn’t be in her girl squad (we can’t all be cheerleaders).

F**k the eagerness to destroy this perfectly average girl in favour of these beasts who won’t leave her the eff alone is unbelievable. But then, she’s a privileged white chick so she deserves it, right?

I could not have put it any better.

    • BunnyBear says:

      Oh wow. Ok…

    • teacakes says:

“Beasts who won’t leave her alone”?

      Wow, just…..wow. Dog-whistle, much?

    • Josephina says:

What’s up with the use of word “beast”??????

How is Kanye’s actions or style of commmunication, anything like a beast??

He is a rapper and his style of rap has been consistent. Like Taylor, he is also wildly talented and successful at his art as well. (BTW I am defitnitely not a rap fan.)

He is a little weird… but a beast????

      REALLY???

    • Jwoolman says:

I actually remember being 26. I wasn’t very good at dealing with conflicts and negotiating uncomfortable conversations myself, both at the family/friend level and the professional level. At 36, I was much more experienced and self-confident and able to deal much much more constructively with such things. Something good really happens once you start to leave your twenties, you get much more comfortable in your own skin and with your differences and become more sure of what you need and how to get it. So I wouldn’t discount the age factor here. It might be more acute with Swift since she seems immature (might go along with starting her career at such an early age). But none of the principals in this dispute (Swift, Kanye, and Kim) seem particularly mature to me regardless of age. Fame seems to stunt emotional growth many times. That can help explain the unprofessional way they’ve all approached this conflict, besides all their personal flaws and Kim’s thirst for maximum publicity.

    • Nev says:

Oh have a seat too. Ridiculous. Hahahaha
Your probably dying to be in her so-called boring squad.

    • claire says:

Watch it. “coded racism” is the word of the day here. You aren’t allowed to speak out against Kanye’s actions now.

    • Sarah says:

Slushed, she is a privileged white woman, so perhaps her PR shouldn’t be painting him as a scary black man stalking the sweet, virginal white woman? Do you have any idea how racist you sound???

  42. Luca76 says:

Ok speaking as a black woman the whole thing makes me uncomfortable because clearly there is both racism at play and mysogony. So while I can clearly say that im no longer in Taylor’s corner I’m not going to pretend that everything that Kanye says/does is A-OK and that the Famous song/video isn’t despicable. Where is Belle Hooks when you need to disentangle this kind of sh**t.

    • Jwoolman says:

When I have a phone call with someone on a professional matter, I follow up with an e-mail giving the relevant points discussed and asking for any additions or corrections. It’s too easy for one party to hear one thing and the other party to hear another. The follow up prevents surprises and misunderstandings.

In this case, since Kanye didn’t do a timely follow up (might not be his style), all they needed to do was send Swift a copy of the full phone call when she first expressed discomfort about the one line. Then they could have discussed where the communication went wrong like grownups rather than plotting public humiliation like rival junior high cliques.

The professional thing to do in the first place would have actually been to send her a copy of the phone call right away after the call ended. This should be standard practice when discussing such things, if an e-mail follow up isn’t convenient. I didn’t notice Kanye even telling her he was recording both sides of the call, which does not seem wise to me even if it was legal.

  43. Goia says:

Yes Kanye, and your wife and her family never lie. They are the biggest liars on the planet. Hypocrite.

    • toni says:

Swifty is still the bigger liar but I see her White Supremacist friends have arrived to defend the honor of the innocent blonde goddess.

      • Goia says:

        Hi Toni,
My father is black and my mother Italian. Peace.

      • Lady D says:

Gotta go with Goia here. The Kardashians have spilled nothing but lies since their TV show started. They are horribly dishonest, horribly. You can’t believe a single word they say. Everything about that family is fake, phony and a lie. EVERYTHING.
Before you accuse me of racism too toni, I’m a fan of neither.

    • Plank says:

Doubt they are the biggest liars on the planet. But they own up to their sh&% and don’t sell themselves to be something bigger than they are! If you lie like TS it will come back to bite you, I give it to Kim for proving TS lied to people. Kim’s family may not be the greatest bunch out there but they aren’t stupid! They are proven business people like TS.

      • anon123 says:

Being honest about being an ass is not an excuse for being an ass. It doesn’t make it any better.
And no, Kim is not honest about a liar and manipulator herself.
Kanye is not honest about his issues either.

    • Guesty2 says:

Like now Kim isn’t the vapid, lying idiot she once was.
Now Kanye’s history of being unfiltered, rude and gun jumping doesn’t exist.
I understand that Taylor lied, and I think she’s getting exactly what she deserves, but Come on, let’s not make excuses for the Karjenners and Kanye.
And in no way am I making excuses for Taylor. I’m feel indifferent about her, I don’t care about her, so whatever, people now know she’s a liar. Doesn’t hurt me, because I wasn’t a fan.
But the Karjenner’s day is coming too.

      Everyone involved is awful.

  44. holly hobby says:

Missy Taylor, tell your legal team and teenage hanger ons to look up one case in Westlaw: Cruise v. Bauer Publishing. Yup when Tommy sued Bauer the depositions made him look worse. I’m pretty sure if she went that route for a civil case, this will open up a whole can of worms for her and it looks like the Kardashian Wests are more than happy to play ball with her too.

Either way, it makes good gossip fodder!

  45. anon123 says:

I saw a very apt comment in the article in the Guardian
“Kanye West is the Donald Trump of music…rampant egotism mixed with childish impulsiveness. Why do these people get so much press?”
I guess that makes Taylor Hillary. ))

  46. Guesty2 says:

I will never be a team Kanye /Kardashian anything.
I don’t care what they did. I’m not going to pretend that a couple of days ago, I didn’t depise them or that I still don’t.

Taylor lied, Taylor got caught in a lie, Taylor was a victim in 2009, but when this Famous thing came up she played the victim.
With Calvin as well, and I said, “how is Calvin so wrong if he’s only doing what Taylor does” and people told me, “she is younger, or Rita Ora”
let’s not forget who we are dealing with.
Taylor, Kanye and Kim…also vile disgusting Khloe.
People who are all in their own ways, liars, manupliators and famewhores.
    So I’m on team, I remember .
Cause I won’t forget who these people are, and pretend one is worse then the other.
    They all suck.

    • Ican't says:

      This so much this 👍👍👍👍

It never ceases to amaze me how often Tayler fans ues her age as a excuse for her behavior or treat her like a child and not the grown ass women she is.

  47. Bethie says:

Diva? Sure. Narcissist? Yep. Childish? Uh-huh. Racist? Seems like a stretch, and probably a bit of unnecessary character assassination. She’s doing that well enough herself. No need to bring race into it. There are enough real, actual race-based problems happening right now.

  48. Bread and Circuses says:

Joseph Kahn isn’t wrong about that second tweet, but he’s missed the point that just because someone is very talented doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to call them out for terrible behaviour. The one thing does not cancel out the other.

For example, I’m perfectly okay with calling Woody Allen and Roman Polanski out as child rapists, but they are both very talented too. See how that works? People are not all one thing.

That first tweet of his, however, is utterly vile and definitely racially tinged.

  49. Freddy Spaghetti says:

Having just seen Chris Brown’s now deleted (but screen grabs are forever!) comment to Taylor on Instagram, I think he wins biggest jerk award. At least for today.

  50. KatM says:

His comment is completely vile and repulsive. Comparing Taylor Swift’s “situation” to a woman who was the victim of domestic violence and brutally murdered is absolutely shameful. I cannot believe people actually think this is in any way acceptable.

    • Christin says:

I wonder if her fanbase even realizes or comprehends how terrible that reference really is.

    • Elle says:

Um, the defense led by the Kardashian father dismissed the domestic violence perpetrated by OJ, so you can’t use that as a defense for them now.

      • Ican't says:

        @Elle

        What are you talking about???

If your going on about what I thing you are then you can take that BS some place else. The abuse was documentedited just because it dismissed by his lawyer doesn’t change that fact that she was.

  51. Nev says:

    Word Up to everything @roxane.

  52. Kitty says:

This is my comment on the issue , Kim k only did this when it was appropriate to boost ratings. Taylor swift did manipulate the media when ‘famous’ was released but don’t the kardashians always manipulate the media , they make their money off a scripted reality show. Didn’t Kim play victim when her sex tape was released , but we all know she had a hand in it . In the world they live in , they have publicists to control their image , maybe Taylor didn’t know the exact context Kanye would refer to her , maybe she did and she played the victim because that’s her persona she creates , but to have a private conversation recorded and released is a violation of privacy . That’s the bottom line. How many times do we say things in private and then regret it . . They all play the media game . Kim included so for her to do that was low and just for attention and for khloe to attack a 19 year old who was encouraging people to look at the bigger picture , is disgusting . These people need to go away

  53. Bess says:

All parties in this feud are at fault. If I were advising Taylor, I would tell her to quite & keep doing her own thing.

Kanye & the K-klan live for this drama. She shouldn’t give it to them.

    • me says:

Exactly. Kim can’t stand it when the media is not talking about her. Why else did she post those vids to HER snapchat, instead of having Kanye post a link on HIS twitter? Kim wanted to make it all about HER. This family will stop at nothing to stay relevant. I’m not saying Taylor is innocent, but she surely doesn’t deserve this amount of backlash for something so dumb. We all know the Kardashian Kult is full of liars as well. Who are they to point out someone else’s lies when they lie the MOST?

      • Ican't says:

This whole thing is Taylor’s doing she could have shutdown this whole mess before it even started. When the song first came out she could have done one of two thing tell the truth that she gave the ok or said nothing. Instead she played the victim ( surprised by no one ) and lied. Kim/Kanye are opportunities and attention seekers and she gave him the ammo and then tried to play him.

The reason why Amber Rose always wins against the Kardashians/Kanye is because she has nothing to hide she been up front about everything, unlike Taylor who has a lot to hide. Just like Kanye has a lot to hide that why Amber can shut him down in a second.

  54. Hanka says:

I don’t understand why she lied about this in the first place. What did she get out of that?

    • Kiliki says:

      Hanka:

THAT is what is creeping me out.

      Is she the devil?

A psychopath? (Psychopaths are demons in the flesh you know.)

SERIOUSLY. If no one has ever seen her cry (anyone?anyone?) I’m 1000% sticking with that theory.

  55. HK9 says:

I find it quite telling that Taylor has been caught in a lie and her team/squad doles out a plethora of excuses. She’s been in the public eye for years, making millions but is not ‘grown’ enough to admit a mistake?? The weight of her entitlement has cracked the facade. Taylor, know this, it’s not a good day when you get read by Kim K.

  56. Jeanette says:

For the amount of attention this damn song is getting it sure does suck. I had to look up the lyrics, and typical Kanye, the song places him in a position above all the women mentioned. Past loves and Taylor.

This guy is such a toad, and whatever lie Taylor may have told he can thank for her for all the publicity the song is getting, otherwise it would have been another Kanye fashion show only on a CD.

BTW, when referring to acquaintances my male friends better not ever call me a Bitch, unless they want the taste slapped out of their mouth. If Kim wants to put up with that bullshit whatever, but that is not everyones cup of tea.

On another note, how many women as a compliment say “Bastard” when referring to a man they care about? Its very one sided. Bitch is not a flattering term.

  57. Scarlet Pimpernel says:

Sorry – really don’t get where Taylor is playing the victim. How? Kanye and the Kardashians are the ones taking the cheap shots. Did Taylor misrepresent the conversation? I don’t think so. She tried to make the best out of a very awkward situation, didn’t hear the full song and didn’t hear the bit about Kanye claiming he made her. Kanye has been riding her fame since 2009. He’s an embarrassment.

  58. stinky says:

Why is everyone pretending that Taylor is lying about this?
She gave him an inch and he took a mile. End of.
She can call him out if she wants (tho she really shouldnt have, obviously).
Its Kim who’s perpetrating the actual lie – just cuz she’s acting like her lie is the truth, it doesnt make it so.
Y’all are eatin it up w/ a spoon like a a volatile mob.
    Ridic.

    • Valois says:

Because she wasn’t saying the truth?

Her rep said Kanye didn’t call to askfor approval, but to ask if she’d advertize that song on twitter or something like that.
      -> The tapes disprove that.

Her rep said she suggested not to release a song with such a misogynist message.
      – > The tapes disprove that.

Yes, the “I made that bitch famous” line is not being discussed in the tapes they released so far, but some of the stuff she says suggests that they discussed this, too (she’s talking about fame and that it’s okay that he didn’t know her before etc).

The thing is, Kanye is an arsehole. He is an arse for writing that and he is an arse in general, but most people do not deny that. So why is it so hard to admit that Taylor might be an arse, too?

      • Jwoolman says:

The video proves that he didn’t call her for approval but just to give her a head’s up that she would be mentioned. Both Kanye and Taylor made that very clear within the conversation.

The other things were not disproved by the recording because we have only heard a few 10 second edits made by Kim. The full phone call was much longer than that. For all we know, Taylor’s other claims may be borne out by the full recording which Kim has not released.

I’ve been misquoted by journalists myself, so there is no guarantee that the reported quotes from her reps are actually correct. The errors can come from both the rep’s side and the reporter’s side. Such misquotes can and do cause tremendous problems when others assume it must be gospel because it’s in print. I had problems with someone locally for years because of an idiot reporter who did just that to me. I would go by what has definitely come straight from Swift instead. As far as I can tell, she herself did not deny the phone call but did deny hearing the final problematic version of the lyric, which so far is also borne out by the recording. Kanye hadn’t finalized the lyric yet and that has been verified by others. She might possibly have denied getting a call to approve the lyric, if she was asked that directly, but the recording confirms that the call was not about approval.

      • Valois says:

“The video proves that he didn’t call her for approval but just to give her a head’s up that she would be mentioned. Both Kanye and Taylor made that very clear within the conversation. ”
You do realize that that’s purely semantics, right? He even presented different lines and implicitly asked for her opinion, that’s not so different from approval.

“I’ve been misquoted by journalists myself, so there is no guarantee that the reported quotes from her reps are actually correct.”
Sure, People Magazine misquotes the rep of the worlsd’s biggest pop star and there’s nothing said rep did about it, sure. That’s so much more likely than her rep saying exactly that.

Your (justified) hatred for the Kardashians seems to cloud your judgement.

“I would go by what has definitely come straight from Swift instead”
Swift said that after the tapes were released and that was the only thing she could deny.

  59. EmberlyObvs says:

Obviously, a lot of articles have posted the timeline on this saga from February on, and rereading Kanye’s tweets where he first mentioned the infamous phone call, he also says the line was Taylor’s idea, because she told a mutual friend at dinner that “he [Kanye] made me famous!” This struck me more after reading the snapchat transcripts, specifically seeing where the edits are. A case could made that when she’s saying “Yeah she does! It made her famous!” what she is actually referencing is the conversation with the friend. There’s clearly some content left out before this bit. It doesn’t really fit, even grammatically, to a reaction to the line in question. “Yeah she does” what? It’s just weird. Anyway, I think Taylor overplayed the victim card and there are lies and missteps in her strategy … but for me, these pieces of video kind of reinforce both narratives instead of completely discrediting Taylor’s. I trust Kanye’s memory in February over Kim K’s edits in July, quirky as all memories are. Maybe he just didn’t quite remember how he knew about her comment at a dinner, that SHE told him about it ON THAT VERY CALL. Maybe he thought because she could joke about it, and was cool about the other line, that she’d be cool with the whole thing. He thought he had carte blanche, and from the way she talks, I can see why he’d get that impression. But I can also see why Taylor would’ve been shocked about the b**** line … maybe even a bit because she trusted him with that private little joke that was more about comraderie than how she would ever actually agree to being portrayed.

  60. Rebecca says:

I never could stand Taylor Swift or her music. I always thought she came off as “holier than thou.” However, I don’t think this is a fair assessment. I’m pretty sure this Mr. Khan has nothing to do with Taylor’s PR team and is just speaking his mind. Yes, he is racist and entirely inappropriate, but I don’t think his remarks were sanctioned by Swift’s team or that he was even asked to say anything. I can’t imagine a PR team approving what he said in those tweets.
