L&S: Justin Bieber brought six bodyguards to the dentist for ’emotional support’

Justin Bieber spotted attenings a pool party in a house in Malibu
Life & Style has a new story about Justin Bieber which could possibly fill me with schadenfreude, but somehow manages to humanize him a bit. Plus I’ve just been looking at recent paparazzi photos of Bieber where he looks like a little kid who is super happy to get new shoes and play Pokemon. He doesn’t look like a tantrumy baby either. (Remember these hilarious photos that Bedhead used to post all the time? Miss you Bedhead!)

Just glancing through his Instagram, I get the impression that Bieber always travels with an entourage. At least some of the people with him are well paid (not to mention the free perks) and serve a specific purpose – like the six bodyguards he brought with him to the dentist because he was scared:

In its latest issue, on newsstands now, an insider tells Life & Style magazine that during a recent routine visit to Dr. Kevin Sands’ Beverly Hills dental office, Justin Bieber brought along six bodyguards.

“He was accompanied by six bodyguards,” reveals the insider. “They weren’t there to protect him from danger — they were just there for emotional support.”

The singer is not a fan of the dentist’s chair. “Justin not only hates the discomfort, but the sounds of the drill and of scraping on his teeth make him tense up. He gets super nervous about feeling pain.”

Novocaine isn’t Justin’s favorite form of anesthesia, the source tells Life & Style, because he dislikes needles. “His friends give him crap because if he could, Justin would get knocked out cold just to fill a cavity.”

[From Life & Style]

There’s a photo from last week on Bieber’s Instagram where he’s wearing a surgical mask (that’s below) so I would assume that’s when he had dental work done. I get needing one person with you for support when you’re dealing with pain and a scary situation, maybe two, but six? I had a damn baby with less people around me and I would have thrown at least two of them out of the delivery room if I had my way. This is how it is for celebrities though, they surround themselves with people who will coddle and protect them from things the rest of us deal with on a daily basis. I also wonder if the bodyguards were there to intimidate the dentist into not hurting widdle Bieber. (Incidentally while doing “research” to see if any other celebrities have brought bodyguards to the dentist I found this article about Charlie Sheen punching out a dental assistant and threatening his dentist with a knife. Charlie blamed the nitrous oxide for his flipout. No wonder LA-area dentists are sticking to local anesthetic. Related: keep flossing your teeth.)

Bieber is still being sued for the egg-throwing incident on a former neighbor’s home for which he’s already paid $80k in damages and completed probation. The neighbors claim they’ve suffered emotional damage from living next to Bieber, however Bieber just won a minor victory in the case. A judge ordered the neighbors to undergo a seven hour psychological examination. Bieber would need a dozen people with him for that.

Air quality in la👎🏼, good thing I wore my mask !!

While I understand and suffer from fear of the dentist, mine just gives me valium to take ahead of time. It seems to work just fine. No need for a bodyguard entourage.

Damn him, he’s so stupid. As if they could do anything to suppress your pain or calm your nerves. But if I got paid, of course I would’ve gone too.

I get major anxiety when I go to the dentist, thanks to a history of having to have surgeries, teeth pulled, and etc. Still, the last time I had anyone accompany me was when I was 16, lol. Baby Biebs is apparently still Baby Biebs in truth. 😛

Last time I had someone go with me was when I had my wisdom teeth pulled (all 4 at once) and was knocked out to have it done.

I just can’t with this “entity”. He needs to grow up (and grow some balls in the meantime.) Dear God, I wonder if he was a woman how he’d handle monthly cramps? He’d probably need to be hospitalized every month.

  3. Konspiracytheory says:

LOL, that mask isn’t doing much good without covering his nose.

  4. Aussie girl says:

I bring no less than four body guards for a Pap smear.

  5. Lynnie says:

The stupid blond hair and buzzcut KILLS me 😑. WHO finds that attractive?? Especially after his 2012 look. The top photo is giving me trailer-park Texas vibes. 😪 He is not going to age well

  6. Looty says:

Awwww, let him bring his bodyguards, I would too if I had any.

  7. Detritus says:

Lol. So cutting out tomatoes might actually be more effective than flossing for inflammation? Noooooooo

Also, Biebs, just get knocked out. Partner has some long session dental work (3-4 hrs/session) and it worked beautifulLy. You’re kind of woozy and incoherent after, but you have six body guards to carry you home so it shouldn’t be an issue.

  8. what's inside says:

He just needs his passy and a diaper change…..

  9. Becky says:

Get some therapy, goodness knows he can afford it.

Lots of people have fears about going to the dentist and they have to deal it

  10. LinaLamont says:

Go back to Canada and take Clint Eastwood with you.

  11. Veronica says:

“Emotional support” = he needed help getting down from the front seat of the SUV?

  12. Moxie Remon says:

    Me.

  13. swak says:

I don’t like the dentist either, but that’s life. Also don’t like needles but I can tell you this, I would rather have that shot of novicaine than to have the tooth filled without it. And if he hates needles so much and had to have 6 bodyguards to give emotional support for one small shot, how many bodyguards does he need when he gets a tatoo – they use a needle for that. Also, why would you need to wear a mask after having dental work done? Weird.

    • Starkiller says:

To be fair, the Instagram caption does seem state that he’s wearing a mask due to the poor air quality.

This kid has turned in to the male version of Brittany Spears. Get help Justin….get your life on track before you crash and burn.

So, he doesn’t like needles but is covered in tattoos…makes sense..

  17. Liz says:

Definitely keep flossing your teeth. Ever notice if you don’t do it your gums bleed when you resume flossing? Sometimes it feels like these medical and dental bodies want to do more harm than good with their “recommendations.” Don’t need to floos, do breast self-exams, etc.

Also, one of the best anti-aging tips is to keep your permanent teeth so that you maintain your jaw shape. Keep flossing!!!
