Jaimie Alexander broke her nose on Blindspot’ & was back to work next day

If it’s not bad enough that actress Jaimie Alexander has to sit in a chair for seven hours so that makeup artists can apply the fake tattoos for her character on Blindspot, she’s also getting knocked around on the set. The 32-year-old actress got banged up while filming a fight scene for the NBC series on Monday. Jaimie took to Twitter to let her fans know, tweeting:

I wonder if she gets hazard pay? Breaking her nose might make her cooler, but returning to work the very next day makes her a total bad ass. On Tuesday, she posted a picture from the Blindspot set where she was in character:

You can’t really see her injury in the picture, but there’s a logical reason for that. Responding to a tweet from Gotham star Drew Powell, who called her “hockey player tough” Jaimie credits the lack of visible injuries to “Makeup magic!”

Jaimie, who is soon to be seen on the big screen reprising her role as Sif in Thor: Ragnarok, has been posting pictures from the set of Blindspot, which kicks off its second season on September 14. She posted one with show creator Martin Gero being, as she put it, “In our element.”

In our element. One of my favorite people to work with. @martingero 😎👊🏻 #BLINDSPOT

Full confession: I don’t watch Blindspot, but Jaimie seems like a kick-ass, cool chick. And it’s admirable that she came back into work the very next day after getting her nose broken. I’m sure my fellow cubicle dwellers would take the opportunity to milk an injury like that for at least a few days off, right?

kickass cool chick that slept with a married dad of 3. super kickass!

    • detritus says:

I remembered thinking she was cool and then being completely turned off by something she was involved in. That would be it.

    • Mar says:

Is this confirmed about her cheating? Nobody ever solidified this that I know of? Maybe he had chicks before her that ruined th marriage. I doubt she was the first women Pete hooked up with.

      • Mae says:

Unless she was in a relationship with someone else at the time, she can’t really be called a cheater though. The married dad wrecked his own home and is the cheater. She’d be the ‘other woman’. Not that going for a married dude is a good idea in any way, but it doesn’t make you a cheater. Messy and careless, and rather selfish and stupid, but most of blame for the ruined marriage lies with the husband for having a wandering dong. He’s the one who broke vows, after all. Jmo, but even if she was the more active pursuer (no idea if that’s the case), he could have refused instead of ruining his marriage. I think the cheating partner should be called the home-wrecker.

    • Evie says:

@meh: I had this exact thought, haha

    • Brandy Armstrong says:

This times a million. LOVED her till I found out about it – as a survivor of a serial cheater (and I say survivor bc his betrayals and subsequent mind games almost broke me) I have a hard time supporting the work of people who break up marriages/relationships (ESPECIALLY when kids are involved)…..but that’s just me.

Breaking your nose sounds worse that it actually is. I broke my nose and had no idea it is indeed broken until I had to go to the doctors because of the headaches I would get whenever I had a cold.

    • layla says:

      Depends on the break.

      I’ve broken my nose twice.

One time it was a fracture that ran the same direction as my nose, so you couldn’t tell and I didn’t even know until the x-ray came back (was hit by a car whilst riding my bike so all kinds of head exams were done) …

The other time it was noticeable IMMEDIATELY. There was blood gushing out all over the place and I woke up with two black eyes, a swollen face and a smooshed nose. The swelling and bruising only got worse before it got better. In hindsight, I really should have gone to the doctor for that one ….

On both occasions I went to work the next day. Nothing badass about it – just a little embarrassing and ego humbling (thanks gin – ugh!)

  4. Esmom says:

Oh yeah, some cubicle dwellers I know would definitely milk a broken nose. I worked with a guy who once didn’t come in one day because he said his garage door was broken and he couldn’t get his car out.

I know nothing about the show but I’m wondering how the tattoos don’t rub off if they’re only makeup.

  5. lilacflowers says:

She got hurt filming Thor: Dark World too. She needs to make sure they follow the safety rules when she is working.

And when is she heading to Oz?

  6. Little Darling says:

I don’t care for her. She doesn’t seem cool to me based on the stories I read about her. She has always come across entitled and like a complainer in the vain of Katherine Hiegle.

  7. swak says:

So she’s a bad ass for what normal people do every day. Phhht!

  8. PrincessMe says:

Good for her if she felt up to going in to work after being injured. That doesn’t mean that it’s the right decision for everyone or that someone who takes the time they’re entitled to is “milking” the situation. I don’t know how painful a broken nose is, but I’d be nervous about being in a situation where I could get hurt further when the damage hasn’t been healed yet.

  9. TippyToes says:

Broke my nose, separated my shoulder, broke 2 teeth, and fractured my pelvis, was back to work in 3 days.

  10. Cel2495 says:

Broke my foot in 3 areas, had surgery and then had to be back at work in 3 days to head for a shopping trip (footwear designer) to Europe. Walked in a boot like a crazy person for 5 days and I survive. That makes me responsible not kickass or a hero.

    • Siri says:

I wouldn’t call it responsible (or heroic) to be so careless with your health.

edit: The same goes to all the other people who brag about how soon they went back to work after (major) surgery as well.

      • Ange says:

I died, showed up the next day and did overtime while saving a kitten from a free.

      • cel2495 says:

ahh, here we go…. not bragging and is not carelessness. Obviously if I went back to work is because I was not dying, doctor gave the OK and I can tolerate the discomfort…what Im basically saying with this and other people implying is that is not newsworthy. Ms. Alexander and the production apparently felt the same way because she took to Twitter sounding very upbeat AND was back at work.

  11. Samtha says:

Is she going to be in Thor 3? If it’s filming now, and she’s filming Blindspot, how is that going to work?

  12. RedOnTheHead says:

Had my jaw broken in 5 places on a Friday night. 2 hour surgery on Saturday to wire it all together. Back to work on Tuesday. Meh.

  13. amilu says:

I honestly started liking her a little less when she wore that headline-grabbing, labia-baring gown to the Thor: Dark World premiere. And, no, I’m not body shaming her or calling her a homewrecker. It was just such a blatant, thirsty, Kartrashian move.

  14. spidey says:

It isn’t the injury that is always the problem, it is the effect of the anesthetic on body for the next few days that can be the problem, and shouldn’t be underestimated.

    Lecture over.

  15. believe says:

    I like her nose.
