Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande attended last night’s VMAs to perform together – they did Ariana’s song “Side to Side,” and if you paid me to explain/say the lyrics, I wouldn’t be able to. Ariana could have been singing about her janky ponytail for all I know. I’m going to piss off Ariana by focusing on Nicki at the top: Nicki wore this sexy, half-sheer Bao Tranchi gown to the VMAs, and she was easily one of sexiest and prettiest women there. I’ve been enjoying Minaj’s “sophisticated” makeover so much the past few years. Minaj’s date was her boyfriend/fiancé Meek Mill. So many photographers just cut Meek out of the photos, that’s all I’ll say.
As for Ariana…my God, everything about her was annoying last night. Her pre-show interview was done completely to the left side, she tailored her performance so she could sing only on her left side, and how long is she going to do this? Girl, your left side isn’t that much better! You have a complex about this. Her red carpet outfit was Alexander Wang and it didn’t even fit (it was too big), and she changed into lingerie/pajamas for her performance. As for the performance…
It was so stupid, right? It was so stupid that #SoulCycle started trending on Twitter. The idea of making SoulCycle the theme of a performance is… unique. And dumb. And there was a vault there too. Like, a gymnastics vault, on which Ariana climbed and writhed. What was the point? The point, for me, was that I was a little bit embarrassed for Minaj.

Concur. Really tacky. I saw a pic of it with more of a profile view and now I know that she doesn’t shave or wax completely bare. I didn’t need to know that or see that much of her and neither does anybody else. All of these dresses that are too sheer in strategic places just reek of attention seeking desperation. It would be so refreshing for a change to see some class and elegance on red carpets.
If the sides were not sheer and not so cut out it would have been a much better look.
I don’t think that dress flattered Minaj’s figure at all.
Also, there are rumors that Grande always wears a ponytail fall, because her own hair is damaged and she has bald spots.
This look is both too much and not enough. Too much sheer. Not enough good design.
I think she looks amazing, and the dress is amazing.
Nikki’s dress was too much of everything but it worked for her.Perhaps I’m subconsciously to previous outfits. As for AG, her fifteen minutes was up after the donut incident and the left side only is so ridiculous. If she was a legend or diva(powerful and commanding singer) may be she could pull that off. She comes across as a silly little kid playing dress up.
So Tacky. Ugh.

99% of the people who attended the event last night should just be thankful that Joan Rivers is dead.

Nicki looks great but I think if the skirt was solid she would look amazing.
I am impressed by how good Ariana’s voice actually is. I’m just so used to singers like Taylor “wouldn’t make it past auditions on American Idol but has rich parents” Swift that I’m literally shocked when someone actually has an ounce of talent.
Not defending Mean Queen Taylor, but the girl can write a song.
She really can’t though. Her lyrics are juvenile and she has a team of writers.
Ariana really does have a fabulous, beautiful voice.

I’m not sure I’d even classify that as a classic ombre. The lines between shades is too definitive, its really straight up stripes.
This is the best Nikki has looked in a long time. She’s a beautiful woman and I love that she’s dressing and doing her make up to reflect her natural beauty.

I hate the design on the front of Nicki’s dress, it looks like a thong between her breasts, but the color looks amazing on her.
Nicki looked fantastic (and she’s also too good for him). And hopefully Ariana figures out that problem/insecurity.
For myself I always find Minaj beautiful but tacky. I can’t remember the last time I saw her wear something that looked classy.

Beautiful color and super flattering on her. As for the performance, Nicki deserves better than to be paired with Ms. Grande and her an-tics. I swear that chic sings like she’s gargling marbles. For the love of all things holy, e-nun-ci-ate.
I like arian grande songs and think she looks pretty here. Think that the baggy look even enhances the look. I think the hate for her comes from her annoying attitude but she is a visually entertaining performer and she has a great voice.
I don’t like Nicki’s dress but I do think she has a beautiful face. I am also not a fan of whatever Ariana is wearing but she is a gorgeous girl and has an amazing voice. The MTV VMAs were absolute trash this year. Too much vulgarity and too little talent.

That gown is pretty frickin cool on Nikki. I had to stare at it for awhile. Doubt anyone else could rock it like that.
