Tori Spelling, 43, is pregnant with her 5th child, because that will solve her problems

wenn28708065
Earlier this week it was reported that Tori Spelling was ordered to pay nearly $40,000 to American Express to settle a debt of about $39k plus court fees. AmEx sued Tori in January for failure to make payments on her bill. Over the summer we heard that she also owed over a quarter million dollars in back taxes to the state of California and it’s been rumored that she has other extensive credit card debt. That’s to be expected given her lifestyle, which included an extended trip to Europe this summer, although she did do some promotional appearances. So Tori has money problems, and she also has four children, ranging in age from four to nine, with her husband of ten years, Dean McDermott. Tori and Dean predictably marital problems, she claimed he cheated on her in 2014, but she forgave him and they had that romantic vacation over the summer. It looks like they didn’t take precautions because Tori is pregnant, at 43 years old, with her fifth child.

And baby makes seven: Tori Spelling is expanding her family once again.

“It was a total surprise,” Spelling tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week’s issue of her impending fifth child with husband Dean McDermott. “But we always wanted a big family. I’m really excited.”

The pair are already parents to Liam, 9, Stella, 8, Hattie, 5 and Finn, 4. Dean also has an 18-year-old son, Jack, from his previous marriage.

“Dean was saying, ‘We just got Finn out of diapers; I thought we were in the clear!’ ” says Spelling, 43, with a laugh. “For the first time this year, they’re all in school. So it’s like, wow. We’re basically starting over.”

Regardless of the inevitable adjustments — “We need a Sprinter van!” says McDermott, 49 — the couple, who recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary, say baby number five is definitely meant to be.

“This baby happened at the best time,” says Spelling. “Nothing is ever perfect, but I’m so madly in love with my husband and with our kids. The idea of adding to that is such a blessing.”

[From People]

So was Tori actively trying to get pregnant without telling her husband? He had to know something was up, he was in on it too, but the way she describes it makes it sound like he didn’t want any more kids while she did. How do you have a “surprise” baby after you already have four freaking children? It’s not a surprise if you had sex while you were ovulating and didn’t use precaution. This baby is Tori’s way of staying relevant and trying to drum up more interest in her life. Also, I’m the same age as Tori and I have absolutely zero interest in having another baby. I can’t imagine going through all that again, raising kids is hard and Tori has four under ten at home now. Kids are wonderful but they’re also so much work. I know some people enjoy having big families but her life must be chaotic.

This is Tori on July 27. She wasn’t showing yet. Judging from People’s photos I would guess she’s about four to five months along.

    Oh good grief 😒

  2. Size Does Matter says:

Is it me or is she looking a bit unhinged? She’s resorting to wearing grandma’s drapes. Five kids will do that to you.

    • doofus says:

yeah, that white dress is horrid.

and did People make her nose BIGGER in that pic?

    • Lisa says:

I too was just thinking, WTH is she wearing? So sad that this person only has children to stay in the public eye. Pathetic. I feel so sorry for those poor kids.

    • JenniferJustice says:

It’s partly an attempt to remain relevant, but it’s also partly to keep Dean. She is still very insecure about him and women who stay with cheaters always keep having kids…I guess because it makes her vulnerable, so he won’t leave her. But my theory has the opposite affect – men who cheat most always cheat when their wives are pregnant. I guess they miss the ‘hot’ body and don’t find their wives sexy while pregnant. She has got to be the dumbest – most selfish woman to pull this stunt at this stage of their lives – age, money problems, infidelity, instability….I feel sorry for those kids and the one on the way.

      • Tia says:

I thought someone said that she gets ‘child support’ either from her mother or some trust set up by her father for each child. It was when she was claiming Candy wouldn’t give her a penny and it turned out that a lot of the children’s bills were being covered, Candy just wouldn’t give her cash. In which case, she may well have needed to get pregnant to keep her income up.

      • lucy2 says:

I was wondering that too Tia, if it was to get more money out of her mom. Hopefully her mom is smart and pays the schools and other bills directly, not to Tori first.

  3. Lenn says:

Didn’t she almost die during the last birth? or right after? I remember there were complications.

    • pf says:

Yep, she had a relatively rare condition called placenta previa, in which the placenta covers the opening of the cervix; it’s also a condition that can lead to massive internal bleeding. Um…I think Tori is playing with fire here.

      • Lenn says:

Her health has been so unsteady. I just wonder how you can make this decision when you’ve already been through so much.

      • JenniferJustice says:

Because it keeps Dean around….and caring?

      • Betsy says:

I don’t believe placenta previa recurs just because you’ve had it, although being 43 rings my personal alarm bells like klaxons (yes, yes it’s safe, I live in an area with a lot of “old” moms – it’s still too much for me).

      • Chinoiserie says:

My mother had this while pregnant with my brother, she was in hospital for 3 months after she started bleeding suddenly and then had a C-section.

      • Granger says:

But placenta previa is also very “treatable.” I had it, and my doctor recognized it early enough that we were able to schedule a c-section two weeks ahead of my due date. It isn’t the scary death sentence it used to be (before ultrasounds and other technology existed).

      • Bridget says:

She had babies 3 and 4 too close together for healthy C sections, and it’s easy to wonder what kind of health she’s in anymore. Now having C section number 5 at 43?

    • what's inside says:

I think all four of her kids were born via c-section. Why or why would she want to risk a fifth pregnancy with a uterus that is scarred from four previous c-sections as well as a history of placenta previa? She has chronic migraines and all kinds of other health issues. This woman is absolutely mad.

      • sara says:

        Bridget:

What does being 43 have to do with a C-section? You are not worse off at 43. A 5th C-section is dangerous at 25. it’s just dangerous period. All women are different and a pregnant 43 year old sometimes is much healthier than a pregnant 23 year old. Besides my 44 year old cousin had her very healthy 4th baby unassisted (by choice) at home. It was a easy labor and birth and my cousin is in incredible health. She is also a NP, so she is very aware of the entire birth process.

  4. HappyMom says:

She is out of her mind.
    Signed Mom of 4

    • Anna says:

Are they joking about getting their youngest just out of diapers? Because 4 is really old to still be in diapers

      • Anastasia says:

That jumped out at me, too. Did they mean he’s finally dry at night? Or out of Pull-Ups? I’m the last person to be a judgy parent (seriously, I am, been through too much myself as a parent), but that seems old to be getting out of diapers.

      • jenn12 says:

That sentence right there tells you everything. Tori wants babies; she does not necessarily want to be a parent. Babies are fun to some people. They are attention getters, you can dress them up, and so on. Tori kept a 4 year old in diapers as long as she could, not for his sake, but for hers. She is the kind of person who keeps having kids to fill a hole inside her. She doesn’t get that you’re supposed to fill the kids up. She can’t just live her life; she needs events and new things happening all the time. I feel for those babies. If Dean is done, I suggest he get snipped, because she will keep going, and if he doesn’t prevent it, he is as bad as she is. Which I guess he is anyway.

      • Little Darling says:

Yep, stood out for me too.

      • PGrant's Girl says:

@Anna my oldest cousin kept her oldest child in diapers as long as she could because she was too lazy to potty train him. I’m not even exaggerating! The only reason she finally did is because in the state where she lives, at that time, kids couldn’t start kindergarten in public schools if they weren’t potty trained; the law wouldn’t allow teachers to change diapers (although maybe there were exceptions in cases of severe developmental delays, which her son doesn’t have). So he was 4 and still in diapers. I can’t imagine being so freaking lazy that you would rather change diapers (and pay for them!) than potty train your preschooler. Smh.

      • Betsy says:

Both my kids have trained pretty quickly (the first was night trained too by 26 months, the second is about 80% night trained at about the same), but some of toilet training is way out of parental control.

      • Bridget says:

Um, 4 is not absurdly late. That’s really freaking judgemental.

      • Shelly says:

It’s common for boys to not be totally poo poo trained til 3 or 4.
Judgy people need to brush up on child development facts.

    • J. says:

Hahaha, from another Mom of 4 – AGREED!!! I would be close to devastated to find out I was pregnant again. (Which is why I have an IUD, Tori!)

    • Bonzo says:

If her fourth one was via C-section, then it’s only a 5 min procedure to get her tubes tied while she’s already undergoing major abdominal surgery. That’s the easiest way to ensure you don’t have more kids.

Clearly, Tori wanted the option of getting pregnant again, which is crazy given her lack of financial management skills.

  5. Zuzus Girl says:

They are both entitled, spoiled brats. I guess Candy will end up paying for this kid too. They are the most irresponsible idiots.

  6. Lahdidahbaby says:

Oh my word, wtf is she wearing in pic #1…and pic #2…and pic #3… and pic #4? My head hurts.

  7. QQ says:

Is someone sponsoring this prenanTORIcy? is there a show coming built around this?

  8. Shambles says:

Can someone please tell me what is so off about her face? It bothers me every time I look at her, but I can’t put my finger on it.

  9. Dominique says:

I simply cannot figure out how they support themselves, their lifestyles, and their ever-growing brood. They are constantly in debt and barely bring any income in. I know her sob story has been about being cut off from the Spelling fortune, but obviously she is getting steady money from somewhere.

    • Missy says:

I think candy spelling is paying for the children’s, school and food. I remember reading that somewhere. If mom is paying why not have another? That sounds so ridiculous. I can’t understand for the life of me why dean hasn’t gotten a vasectomy, or tori have something done. She almost died with the last section, so she says. Why couldn’t she have her tubes tied during the last one…it’s absolutely insane.

      • Karina says:

@Missy: I wondered about this too. Why didn’t Dean have a vasectomy or Tori undergo a tubal ligation after the last c-section to prevent future pregnancies? Given her poor health, it is irresponsible to play with fire while a brood of young children depends on her/them.

      • SallyTomato says:

I think they put it out there that they were hurting for money and couldn’t afford for Dean to have a vasectomy. I really hope I’m wrong…

    • Squiggisbig says:

I’ve always suspected that her mother gives her money for stuff for the kids. Candy has previously said that she has been helping tori out financially.

    • Stella says:

I’ve read that Candy pays many of the bills directly, like the children’s schooling, groceries, etc.

      • Dominique says:

Wow, I wasn’t aware of this. Well that must be nice! LOL. But personally I would hate that feeling of having something held over my head.

      • LucyHoneychurch says:

I read that too. I wonder why she doesn’t just buy her a house so Tori and her family can stay put and put down roots, etc.

      • minx says:

I think Candy is generous to give any money to these two deadbeat parents. She’s smart to give money directly to the schools, etc., because Tori would blow through the money.

      • Wren says:

I remember reading that too. She pays for all the kids’s stuff directly so Tori can’t go off and spend the money on herself. Because that’s what she would do and probably has done in the past.

  10. MrsBPitt says:

If Tori thinks having another baby is going to bring her career, what small career she had, back, she shouldn’t have bothered. I think her fifteen minutes have been up for quite awhile…

  11. grabbyhands says:

So when poor and minority women have more kids than they can afford to care for, they’re irresponsible welfare queens leeching of the system. When Tori Spelling does it, it is an funny little surprise. Got it.

Pretty sure this poor kid is just a mechanism for her to continue to get attention and press, as well as gifts and possibly cash. She’s probably hoping her mother will crack and start paying their bills.

    • Missy says:

Well she’s not on welfare…unless you count her extremely rich mother paying for everything. I think candy should cut them off completely…maybe one of them would get a job or something. Ridiculous people. If tori had as hard a time having her last child as she says she did, they should be taking major precautions not to have anymore. What if she died and dean and candy were left to raise the children…

    • Darlene says:

I also think she keeps having babies in an effort to somehow end up with her mom’s money.

    • SolitaryAngel says:

Oh yeah, they’re hoping for gifts–did you notice how they name-checked needing that Sprinter van? *sigh* Outrageous. Poor kids.

    • jenn12 says:

Tori and Dean are irresponsible morons who are lucky enough to have a wealthy mother (in law) supporting the kids, who suffer due to their stupidity.

    • JenniferJustice says:

No, Tori is just as much a pilpherer as any poor mom having more kids to get more food stamps, more money toward subsidized housing. The only difference is apparently the money for kids comes from mom instead of the government.

  12. Jayna says:

She admitted later that he was a disappointment as a husband after the first kid. But they kept on with the charade of happy marriage, happy family. They sold that affair story for money and a storyline. There is no low these two won’t aim for.

They are both nuts bringing another child into a family they can’t support already.

  13. minx says:

    Morons, both of them.

  14. HK9 says:

    Tori sthap.

  15. Rachel 2.0 says:

Her mother needs to pay for birth control. It would be cheaper than paying for yet another kid.

  16. OriginallyBlue says:

She knows her mother won’t let anything happen to those kids. Too bad her mother can’t get custody of the kids and let these 2 grown adults pay their own way. I know she thought she was entitled to more of her father’s money, but you know she would have blown through all of it 10X over already. She has a problem.

    • ohdear says:

yeah, bur her mother raised Tori, so she may not be the best option. And Dean is the host of a cooking show in Canada. I do not watch it.

      • CatJ says:

He was fired from the cooking show after one season. Total drip.

      • swak says:

It was the Canadian version of Chopped on Food Network. I watched it because he did so well on the one celebrity cooking show on the Food Network. Believe he has a couple cooking books out there.

  17. Bridget says:

Okay, it’s not like the can say anything else publicly. I get that. But girl, you are playing with fire. Having another baby (especially after that many C sections, and supposedly a pretty bad health problem) isn’t going to fix her problems.

  18. Chetta B. says:

*sigh* Born for a paycheque 🙁 I thought her last pregnancy was life-threatening. God these two are repulsive characters. Is she trying to outdo Ethel Kennedy or something? Ethel was only trying to outdo Rose, for Pete’s sake. These two are the butt of their own joke.

  19. KBeth says:

Not my business but I find them both pathetic.

  20. DIRTNAP says:

I really, really hope that she is not faking a pregnancy so that she can later profit off of a fake miscarriage to settle debts. As gobsmacked as I am to hear she is expecting again, I immediately go to a suspicious place when it comes to Tori.

That being said, I only had one child when it became clear that that is what I could afford financially, emotionally, physically, etc. I am striving to give my one child a really great life, as opposed to giving the number of children I wanted to have a less than ideal life. Just because I REALLY want more kids doesn’t mean I should have them. Other people shouldn’t have to pay the price or foot the bill just because someone wants what they want when they want it. If a person has the means and stamina for a big family, that’s awesome. But I don’t believe Tori does, and I don’t think it’s fair to the kids she already has.

    • JenniferJustice says:

I was thinking more along the lines of reality show plot line….like the “Spelly Belly” or something. I’m sure there is a motive here.

  21. LucyHoneychurch says:

Raising kids IS hard but it’s not as hard for people like Tori who uses her mom’s money to pay for private school for 4 kids and nannies (and probably cleaning people and personal assistants as well). We know she has nannies because she is occasionally photographed with them.

  22. Jess says:

This was a shock in my newsfeed this morning! I thought Dean had a vasectomy for some reason, guess not. Hopefully the pregnancy is healthy for her and baby, it’s pretty risky if she had all the problems she claimed last time, also hope this isn’t an attempt to save her marriage to that loser.

    Congrats I guess?

  23. Nicole says:

    Is this band-aid number 3?
Hold up! Didn’t he have a vasectomy?! Also, what does she care? Her mom pays for all of those children’s needs.

    • Liberty says:

I’m always amazed when I think of people having kids with the assumption parents will pay the bills. I realize Candy is very wealthy, but it’s the principle of the thing. (I know, no principles here, move along….)

  24. Tessa says:

    Boo
I feel mean spirited – I’d chop my leg off for one

    • JenniferJustice says:

Sorry Tessa. That does suck to hear of rotten people having child after child that they cannot afford and cannot even provide a stable home for when you deeply want a child and would probably be a great mom but can’t have your own. We feel for you.

  25. Margo S. says:

Wow. Tori is actually looking good really good right now. You do you tori. 43 surprise baby though. C’mon now. Clearly some ivf had been used. It’s so rare to get pregnant naturally at that age isn’t it?

    • minx says:

I got pregnant at 46 and had my daughter a week after I turned 47, no ivf. Just happened. She was healthy and a gift!

    • HappyMom says:

Not necessarily. She’s clearly very fertile-so there you go.

    • Tourmaline says:

It can definitely happen naturally at that age.

    • swak says:

She had the first four within 5 years. Thinking that is pretty fertile.

    • sky says:

Ursula Andress had her first baby in 1980 when she was 44. Had never been pregnant before and ivf didn’t exist back then. It is possible! Kim Basinger had her first kid at 42 in 1995. So did Marilu Henner a year before that and without any fertility treatments according to her.

I don’t think Tori needed any medical assistance for a FIFTH pregnancy at 43 when all those women achieved it for the first time at about the same age.

  26. shannon says:

At 40, I say better her than me lol.

  27. me says:

    Why God Why???

  28. Donna says:

I don’t know Tori, obviously, and maybe the baby was planned, maybe not. But I can sure say that birth control does not work for some people. I was on the pill when I became pregnant with my first son, and I was on THREE forms of birth control when I became pregnant with my second! (Got rid of my husband a year or so after that, and that proved to be the successful birth control! lol)
So it does happen, maybe she’s a Fertile Myrtle like I was. Or not. 😊

  29. trillian says:

They choose pretty names for the kids though.

  30. Fl girl says:

    “This was a total surprise.”
Why didn’t she call the Psychic Source? …
    sorry

  31. Jenny says:

Can she even afford to feed another child? Poor kids to have such morons as parents.

    • Tia says:

Her mother pays a lot of the bills for the children (and I mean pays bills – when Tori says her mother won’t give her money she means she won’t hand over cash). My understanding is that their education and nannies are definitely covered – I’m not sure about accommodation and food but it wouldn’t surprise me.

  32. Bread and Circuses says:

She picked up zero life skills, growing up.

Not that she isn’t compounding the problem with denial and shopping therapy, but she grew up insulated from reality and it has not served her well.

  33. sara says:

Well I am going to be the light here and say congratulations. I think its great and I am happy for them.

    Signed mom of 4.

    • Marianne Z says:

I’m with you Sara. I think it’s rather nice having a baby, and I certainly don’t begrudge her having 5 kids. Congrats Tori.

  34. kodakay says:

They can have as many babies as they want. I don’t have to take care of them. DO I?????

    • Tate says:

Only if Candy completely cuts them off. If that happens, these two losers will need some assistance.

  35. Stadun says:

I wonder if the pattern will play out here “as usual”… have a kid & get pregnant within 3-4 months. If you look at Kids 1 & 2, then 3 & 4 this is her pattern. I can see her having an “oops” 4 months post birth and getting a reality show strictly on the premise of following her last pregnancy & the show has to pay for Dean’s vasectomy. Crazy!

  36. Nibbi says:

good LAWD she has had a lot of surgery on her face. i think her eyes actually look better (oh how rare do i think plastic surgery on a celeb ever looks “better” than the before, but she had her dad’s funky buried eyes). the lips are ridic tho and that model of nose is so , i dunno, last year or something. from certain angles she looks like the mom kardashian- i’m having a moment of joy that i can’t remember her name- those same lips and flared nostril/tiny bridge nose. i wonder if there’s like a catalogue of body parts that you can flip thru and choose in those plastic surgeons’ offices?

    • Itchyandweird says:

Oh thank god, I thought it was just me! Her mouth looks like it belongs on a much bigger head.

  37. ch2 says:

Agh… don’t these people know we have an over-population problem? *barf*

  38. Beer&Crumpets says:

Advanced maternal age FTW… I hope her eggs haven’t expired. Good God, I wish her luck. She’s gonna need it.

    • Stacy says:

She is pregnant and nearly 44? That is so risky to have kids, what if the kid turns out to have birth defects? I guess that won’t stop her.

  39. RedWeatherTiger says:

If this has been said before, I apologize, but…

The Deaner is not aging well.

  40. 2knitnwine says:

Women’s health nurse over here getting fidgety at the thought of her having another c section after having 4 so close together. She’s gotta have paper thin uterine walls and so much scaring, yikes! And then being pregnant @43 is no walk in the park either, the risk of complications etc…

Um… Trying to say something nice. Congrats on your band-aid baby? Aw shit. Ok I’m out.

  41. Mrs. Odie says:

Between pregnancy, birth, nursing, birth recovery, and caring for a newborn, couples struggle to maintain an active sex life. When a woman is ovulating, she’s far more likely to be receptive to sex. Maybe Tori is just trying to get a 2 year reprieve from sex with Dean. The rest of us have our whole lives. I don’t begrudge her a couple years.

  42. holly hobby says:

I guess they are going to Duggar route (minus the pervy brother) to remain relevant. I don’t know how they can support all those kids. That’s right, Grandma Candy is left holding the bag in terms of tuition and groceries.

Ugh, Dean needs to be snipped now.
