Katy Perry on if she’s dating Orlando Bloom: ‘when you get older, lines get blurred’

Katy Perry’s Witness Tour is just about to start. Much like she did with her album, Katy’s really putting her back into the promotion for it. I haven’t heard her album but Katy’s focus was her voyage of self-discovery that led her to her new music, which she calls purposeful pop. Unfortunately, people didn’t seem to hook on to that message and all they really want to talk about is who she’s banging. I have major issues with Katy but it makes me a little sad that she’s trying to take a more enlightened approach to her message while the media just asks about her love life. But, she has tickets to sell so if that’s all she gets asked, she’s still going to answer. The latest interest is over her outing with former beau Orlando Bloom at the Ed Sheeran concert, which let’s face it – being visible like that was supposed to get people talking. So what’s up with these two? According to Katy – maybe something/nothing? I’m not exactly sure because her answer is odd. She gave a non-answer that referenced blurry lines and her busy schedule.

The 32-year-old pop star opened up about rumors that she was getting back together with her ex-beau on Monday after the two were spotted together at an Ed Sheeran concert this month.

“Well, you know, I think people are in and out of your life,” she told The Morning Mashup, a SiriusXM Hits 1 program. “It’s nice to keep people you love around you. When you get older, lines get blurred. And you know what, I’m really busy. I’m about to go on tour for another year.”

The singer has admitted previously that she rekindled a romance after texting one of her exes, so now she has a strict policy of saving her messages to draft and thinking of it.

Perry told romance radio host Delilah Rene that her text habit inspired single, “Save as Draft”.

“I’ve been in that cycle before in a relationship and it had kind of reignited the relationship, and there’s only so many times you can reignite the relationship or want to or should and sometimes you just need to write it and never send it. It’s just that exercise — that cathartic exercise.”

On Monday, Perry also revealed whether her infamous feud with Taylor Swift had come to an end, admitting that she’d “love for the beef to end. I’d love to take it off the barbecue.”

[From People]

So… they’re banging occasionally, right? When the lines blurred with my exes, that’s what that meant. I’m all for old timessake hookups but her logic is shaky. When you’re young, the lines are blurry because you’re still figuring out lust from love. When you get older, you can usually clearly identify when you’re just horny. But I guess when asked why you got together, “because he was there,” is not the appropriate response for a pop princess. It’s possible Katy doesn’t know how she feels about him and doesn’t want to think about it until she finishes her tour. I could theorize all day about this but the fact is, I am not overly invested. I don’t mind them as a couple, I just don’t really care.

I do want to give “Romance” radio host Delilah a shout out. My gawd, the hours I spent listening to Love Songs with Delilah as I drove home from college, blurry-eyed from finals, in the middle of the night.

I must have had my head in the sand because I never made the connection that Taylor was attending the VMAs that Katy is hosting. Taylor’s album will have dropped and who knows if Katy’s Swish Swish video will debut during the awards. Both ladies are professionals so I don’t think we will have a Nicki/Miley moment. Just for fun – what if, instead, these two have schemed behind closed doors to manufacture a spectacular reunion on air?

Yeah, in my experience as I got older the lines got less blurry, you know exactly what you want and you’re able to state it to your partner so it’s clear to both of you. When I was younger my god, everything was so confusing when it came to relationships.

    • smcollins says:

      Exactly ^^^

    • Chicken says:

I just love that she’s talking like an elder statesman or something at 32. I’m 33, and the lines have not gotten blurry as I’ve gotten older. That said, I’ve never been a rich, famous pop star about to go on tour. I think that, more than age, could make things blurry.

  2. smcollins says:

Yeah…that’s just a classier way of saying “f*** buddy.” Whatever works for them.
I do like her practice of holding texts to give herself a chance to reassess the decision. Sometimes writing it out is all you need, without actually trying to engage. Smart.

  3. A Croatian says:

Actually, maybe she meant it as “we don’t need to define it” – I get that. After a while you get tired of strictly defining things. She is going on a year long tour – that’s a good reason for keeping “blurred lines”

  4. BeamMeUpScottie says:

LOL . She has given a very clear answer IMO.

  5. Electric Tuba says:

Purposeful pop. Everyone and their blogging moms are selling their “journey” and trying to market their typical business as enlightened, purposeful, altruistic, and sustainable farm to table goods. That’s all this is. Besides, pop already had a purpose: fun. People want and need to have fun. Pfffft Katy.

She’s just stunted in so many ways.

  6. Allie B. says:

This new look is not doing her any favors. I’m sorry, but she looks awful every time I see her. She should really go back to the long dark hair.

    • snowflake says:

      Yes, it’s horrible!

      • Nanc says:

100%! She was so cool with brown hair in a Barbie world. Then this bleach job came along. I’m sure it’s supposed to be badass and ‘feminist, b.c. short’, but it really doesn’t do her an ounce of favour.
        Feminism is actions, not haircuts!

    • wheneight says:

I know, it looks like she’s trying to recreate that 2013 Miley Cyrus look everyone hated.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

      She looks like a Fembot.

    • Originaltessa says:

It’s awful. She looks like a cockatoo or something. She’s a pretty girl with soft features. It’s too extreme.

    • frankly says:

It’s some kind of 2013 Miley Cyrus Bangerz cosplay.
I think it’s too soon to bring that look back, even ironically.

    • Stella says:

I have to agree. I am all in favor of a cute short haircut, but this is not working for her. The bleached blonde does not suit her coloring, and combined with the heavy make up she prefers, the overall look is terribly aging.

  7. Lolo86lf says:

Oh please, I can read between the lines. Katy and Orlando just want to continue having sex without strings attached. Why don’t they just admit it. It’s okay, couples often do that after they break up. This is 2017 for God’s sake. Eventually they will get over it and break up completely.

  8. snowflake says:

He’s probably convenient. When she’s horny, she can go do him and she doesn’t have to worry about him talking to the tabloids like a random guy might.

  9. Enough Already says:

Does blurry mean I really need the media and gossip columnists to keep guessing/caring?

  10. wheneight says:

I do think there’s a good chance there will be a Taylor/Katy reunion thing at the VMAs. Katy’s promoting a tour, Taylor will be promoting an album, it would be such a win/win. And then they get to stop being asked questions about the dumb beef in every interview.

  11. magnoliarose says:

I used to be ambivalent about her but after reading this I realized I dislike her. It isn’t just one thing either. It is everything about her. Her makeup is hideous. Who is her MUA and why do they still have a job? Her assy stylist needs to be banned from working with fabrics and drummed out of California.
She is a like cold week old boiled potatoes smashed between stale white bread.

  12. Alexandria says:

Yes because your eyesight is also failing.

In all seriousness, I’m with Jess above, relationships and what I want (sex etc.) get clearer as I grow older. I ain’t got time for this ish!

  13. Katherine says:

My experience has been that the most comfortable romantic partnerships are the ones where the reasoning was “because he was there” – no power struggle of who loves who most and who gives in first drama, no gut-wrenching heartache, just common values and interests and a reasonable amount of mutual attraction

    • Kylie says:

That sounds awful to me. ‘oh they were just here and it was convenient.” Just empty. Not bothered if it ends almost.

  14. Svea says:

As said above, she hardly qualifies as an elder statesman. Quite the opposite.?Seems to me she is being a bit of a love fool.

  15. Carrie1 says:

Between the two – Perry and Swift – I’ve categorized them. Both do a form of professionalism which passes but isn’t truly professional outside the creative world. To me, Swift is the corporate exec focused on revenue and dominance through any means. Perry is the artist who sometimes hits, sometimes misses, wants to be appreciated and be herself.

I’m hoping the beef ends too. Swift didn’t like being called out but Perry wasn’t wrong. New Reputation album, in that light, will be interesting.

Correction – it passes, but in my imaginary world of where all people are decent, it doesn’t pass. Swift grates on me especially.

  16. Jordache says:

This article needs some fact checking

-Katy’s new video came out last night
-Taylor’s album will not be out by the VMA’s, it comes out in Nov

    Oh and also
-if you are writing about pop music you should at least have listened to their albums!

  17. Millennial says:

I’m just here to say I also loved Delilah in college and I still listen from time to time
