Lala Kent says Jennifer Lawrence sent her an apology after calling her the c-word

'Red Sparrow' Premiere in New York

I should have live-tweeted my weekend experience of FINALLY seeing Red Sparrow, because I absolutely loved that big, stupid movie. Red Sparrow was sleek, beautiful and nonsensical and Jennifer Lawrence’s performance was better than the dumb film deserved. Joel Edgerton is crazy-hot and they made Matthias Schoenaerts – one of the sexiest men in the world – look like a smirky Vladimir Putin. Red Sparrow also had one of the all-time great lines of dialogue: “You sent me to Whore School!!” I’ve been saying that to myself and laughing ever since. J’accuse! Whore School!

Anyway, several months back, when Jennifer was promoting Red Sparrow: The One Where You Sent Me To Whore School, she got drunk on Watch What Happens Live. She loves Andy Cohen and she loves Bravo’s reality show programming. She’s obsessed with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules in particular. She was asked about one of the stars of VR, Lala Kent, and she said something about how Lala seems really phony and then J-Law jokes, “I’m like, ‘Bitch, you’s a c–t.” Lala basically threw a party – she’s a C-list reality star and an Oscar-winner called her the c-word. Lala spent weeks going on a Diss Tour, basically, insulting Jennifer’s looks, her acting ability and more. Well, Lala appeared on Jenny McCarthy’s podcast recently, and she was asked about her beef with J-Law. Lala says the beef is over.

On Jenny McCarthy’s podcast, she was asked if Jennifer has apologized. She said she has: “I actually received a very sweet email from her. For me, it was more like I felt dumb because she’s an A-list, Oscar-winning actress and I’m like ‘Oh, that kind of hurt my feelings.’”

As for the type of apology, Lala said she felt it was sincere: “This is how I knew it was organic — because she said right after she said it that she wanted to punch herself right in the face…I only see her on interviews and she’s always so funny and that seems like it’s something that would come out of her mouth. So I just thought it was a very stand-up thing for someone of her stature to do.”

Ah, yes, Lala knew the apology was for-real because Jennifer said she wanted to punch herself in the face. That’s our J-Law! This has been another episode of J-Law Is So Real. She’s just like you, she has trash opinions about trashy reality stars and then she apologizes to them privately. Honestly, though, that’s probably the best way to handle it – Lala was practically throwing a party over Jennifer’s comment, and by apologizing privately, Lala was denied any further public attention.

I’ve had the Red Sparrow Blu-ray sitting next to my TV for a couple of weeks. I’ll watch it tomorrow night off the back of your recommendation.

Do it! The movie thinks it’s a super-serious spy movie but it’s just dumb fun and Jennifer’s line-readings are unintentionally hilarious at times.

  2. Feedmechips says:

I am unapologetic over my love for Lala.

I met her a couple of months back. We were in the US for our honeymoon and had dinner at Sur. She was there hanging out, and she was so lovely! I love watching her on the show but wasn’t expecting her to be nice in the flesh. She was very humble and friendly. She said she was so lucky that people paid her any attention, and it made her feel really special.

She’s also stunning in the flesh.

A young guy and his wife I know loved Red Sparrow. He is a big arty film lover and is very particular about his movies. But they just saw it and highly recommended it.

Red Sparrow was fine and I loved the ballet scenes. I love The Firebird ballet so I was very happy.

jennifer must have something coming out to which she needed to backtrack. Kent should have told her to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.
