Duchess Meghan wore black/navy Dior to the RAF 100th anniversary event

100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force

The royals came out in full force today for a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force. The ceremony was held at Westminster Abbey, and I vaguely remember that there was some Twitter back-and-forth last week about how some people were going and some people weren’t. Like, it felt like the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge weren’t always 100% on attending, but at the end of the day, both ladies did attend with their husbands. Meghan looks like a bride who just saw her husband in his RAF uniform for the first time and now wants to make a baby with him (while he wears the uniform).

As for the ladies wore… I can’t say I’m keen (!!) on Meghan’s RAF Widow look. This occasion was supposed to be dignified and conservative, for sure, and I don’t have a problem with Meghan wearing black in general… but the look here just doesn’t seem to “match” the occasion. Her black party dress is Dior. Again with the boatneck too – she’s trying to make that her signature. I’m fine with the boatneck. All together though, Meg looks like she’s attending the funeral of a famous fashion designer. Oh, her hat is Stephen Jones. Update: some of you are saying this is navy. It probably is, but it photographs as black in a lot of photos.

Meanwhile, Kate wore yet another version of the same McQueen coatdress. She must have about ten versions of this same coat in various whites, creams and pastels. Her hat is by Sean Barrett. I’m also including photos of the Queen, the Countess of Wessex, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles.

this entire looks is a win from head to toe 😍😍😍

    • HadleyB says:

I think ALL the women look beautiful in these pics. I don’t care for M’s shoes with the navy dress but they look great and everyone seems to be really happy lately. I hope this keeps up. We will see!

      • HeyDey says:

Another day, another inner child a the emperor’s parade -shrieking -about England’s aristocracy and their super weird AF fashion.

    • Bella DuPont says:

1000% win for me as well. I don’t even care if it’s midnight black, I think she looks absolutely AMAZING. It feels like she’s turned the style corner finally into a simple, chic, elegant look.

And Harry also looks drop dead gorg in his full uniform too.

Eat your heart out, Samantha! 😀 😀 😀

    • SlightlyAnonny says:

I almost screamed in my office. That skirt is the type of skirt that flatters her figure but I was worried she wouldn’t be able to find it in the proper weight to avoid a “Marilyn Moment.” She looks good!

    • lucy2 says:

I really like the dress. She looks great.

    • Bluthfan says:

Yep. Meghan looks stunning. No complaints from me at all. Kate looks dowdy as usual. She consistently dresses like she is in her early 50s. Camillas outfits are hipper/younger than Kate’s

    • Aren says:

      I agree. She looks divine.

    • PrincessK says:

I agree! She looks absolutely divine, thankfully she did not wear awful pastels like the others.

    • LahdidahBaby says:

Yes, it really is a big WIN as far as I’m concerned. Dress is fitted beautifully to her petite frame. The fascinator is so flattering, too! Love her hair pulled back into that side bun. One of her very best looks!

    • OkieOpie says:

Agreed. She looks perfect. Love how handsome Harry looks!

  2. Cidy says:

It looks like peppy funeral attire. I’m not digging the whole boatneck thing either. It’s not a great look.

Kate looks normal, it looks like everything else she wears in a different shade. That humungous ring always makes me do a double take lol it looks like costume jewelry that my niece plays with. Like a brooch on her finger lol.

    • minx says:

Yeah, I love Meghan’s look, but not really for this occasion. The dark color…..I dunno. At least her clothes are finally fitting well and she’s looking chic, experimenting with stronger colors.

      • Nancy says:

She always looks nice…but, yesterday we saw olive green head to toe to hands for a Christening. Today we see a black dress that would be more appropriate for the evening or as Kaiser said, a funeral for a famous designer. Maybe she wants to stand out, as virtually every one else is dressed in summer pastels. Her life, her choice, I guess.

      • Jan90067 says:

She looks beautiful, but this seems like it’d be better suited for fall or winter. The navy is too dark for summer (esp. since it’s not a funeral), and personally I like the original design of the dress, with a more “pencil fitted” skirt, more like yesterday’s silhouette. IMO, that looks so much better on her than these flared/A line outfits.

      • notasugarhere says:

Duchess of Gloucester is also in navy with beige shoes. Plus gray hat, gloves, and clutch which don’t go with her shoes. Anne is wearing pleated brown silk chiffon cocktail dress under heavy cream silk brocade jacket, complete with giant floral hat and bows on her shoes. Princess Michael of Kent also in black pleated silk chiffon with a bright red jacket, cream and black shoes.

Meghan’s outfit is fine to me. Navy, tones with Harry, classic silhouette she can wear for years. Beautiful but not showy, and definitely not out of place.

      • Mac says:

This is a gorgeous party dress, but not occasion appropriate. Also, she seems to angling for a Jackie O comparison.

      • liriel says:

Jackie O!! This. I was supposed to be the first one to say this. Gorgeous look but a funeral one

    • Whaaaaaaatttt? says:

I wish I had Kate’s coat in that blue!

    • norah says:

i think i have been seeing kate wearing just different colours of the same outfit since the wedding –

    • Green Girl says:

“It looks like peppy funeral attire.”

Oh my goodness, YES! I couldn’t initially put my finger on why I hate this dress for this occasion, but you put it into words just perfectly. I think this would have looked fabulous in a jewel-tone color and would have been suitable for the occasion, but this just feels so heavy for a summer service.

      • Lady D says:

But if she had worn a fabulous jewel tone she would have accused of taking focus from the Queen. She’s going to be raked over the coals no matter what colour she does or doesn’t wear.

      • magnoliarose says:

        Yep Lady D.

      • notasugarhere says:

Do you also have a problem with the Duchess of Gloucester’s long-sleeve, two-layer navy outfit? Or just Meghan’s?

      • passerby says:

        @ notasugarhere

        Just Meghans’, Duh.

    • c8c8c8 says:

Queen Elizabeth also wears practically the same outfit in different colors. Maybe she and Kate have more important things to think about then fashion….

  3. erni says:

    Love Sophie’s dress!

    • Ms. Turtle says:

Yes! Since Sophie is a “minor” royal, she never gets her due. But she usually looks beautifully dressed.

I thought Meghan’s dress was navy but Hello is saying it’s black too. Looks navy to me.

    • Megan says:

Sophie looks great. Since she upped her fashion game she rarely gets it wrong.

    • notasugarhere says:

Sophie’s is a nice dress but too casual for this event.

  4. Melania says:

    I love Meghan’s dress. She’s stunning.

    • Nev says:

      Word.
      So fashion. Love it.

    • Belluga says:

It’s a gorgeous dress and her hat is fantastic! In a slightly lighter colour, like an unquestionably-blue deep and rich navy, it would have been perfection.

    • homeslice says:

Beautiful dress, but wrong for a summer day occasion. Everyone else seems to be in light colors…

      • Nic919 says:

I guess that the Duchess of Gloucester is also wearing the wrong colour since she is wearing navy, and princess Anne as well since she is wearing brown.

      • YankLynn says:

homeslice look for coverage where many more pictures of the others attending and you will see all kinds of colors – including dark colors, including navy. Princess Anne is wearing brown gloves. People who were getting the vapors yesterday over Meghan carrying gloves must be out cold on the floor after seeing Anne on this July morning actually wearing gloves 🙂 Yes I’m being a little snarky but the “shock” over navy blue seems a little startling from people. For those that think this dress is too night time — I think the royals wear a lot of stuff out in daylight that us average folks never would so I don’t know what the standard is. Did you see the size of the diamond earrings Kate has on ? That is not a daytime look among ordinary people either.

      • passerby says:

Too much sense in your comment, YankLynn. Folks Shook and don’t know how to respond.

  5. Runcmc says:

I looooove Meghan and she’s by far my favorite royal, but the black dress + hat surrounded by everyone else’s color choices kind of makes her look like a Disney villian. A hot Disney villian though? Kate…wears the same thing all the time. To be fair, I honestly think those coat dresses look awesome on her! It’s boring but she looks nice.

    • Milla says:

At first glance i thought it was navy. And i wish it was.
I love mint on Kate. So I’m gonna take Kate’s colour of the dress and Megan’s fit and there… Perfect outfit

      • Jess says:

@mila, was it dark navy? I zoomed in on the pic, and i did see the tinge color of navy or is that just the sun sort of like Kate’s dress during thecwessing where it looked white but actually yellow? Idk I see both colors. Overall, she looks lovely. Adding color would have really avoided these criticisms, but oh well.

      • Milla says:

        Jess
Maybe it is navy or midnight blue. I am sure we will get a confirmation. I really do like the look, it’s very chic. Both k and m look great, the brothers married well.

      • PrincessK says:

The dress is very clearly navy blue. I watched the whole church ceremony and fly over on TV. She is NOT wearing black.

    • Swack says:

It’s almost like she is trying to be opposite everyone else. Yesterday thought it was strange that everyone else was wearing white/cream while she wore olive.

      • Nancy says:

I said the same thing Swack. I don’t know how hot it is there, but it’s in the 90’s or close to where I am, and I can sweat looking at her. There are better ways to develop a signature for yourself, other than running east when the crowd is going west.

      • Swack says:

@Nancy – where I’m at we’re reaching heat indices of 105+. We had no spring it was like we jumped from winter to summer. Most of it in the 90’s. I can sweat looking at her also.

      • PrincessK says:

At the christening she did not want to steal Kate’s thunder.

      • Nancy says:

Swack: Lord it is HOT. My daughter and I just got home and man that AC feels fabulous. I could have used Meghan’s green gloves to mop the sweat, hahaha. Tomorrow, in the Cleveland area anyway, it’s supposed to cool down a bit. Yeah trump, there’s no global warming. We have two seasons now frigging bitter cold winter or hell burning summer. F him. PrincessK……no, she wasn’t trying to steal Kate’s thunder. Did you see Kate’s face. Meghan could have gone streaking and not taken away that joy. She will have her turn, sure it’s almost baby time. Tick tock, she’s not getting any younger to START a family.

    • Elle says:

I so agree. Megan has the type of figure that can make anything look good but her choices are all so mismatched for the occasions. The party dress doesn’t fit the occasion, the color is way off and she does stand out for all the wrong reasons. I can’t even tell you how much I hate the shoes mismatched with black dress and purse.

    • Masamf says:

@Swack, I don’t think she calls them up to find out what color they’ll wear and then pick the opposite. I think she is just trying too hard to not seem like she is stealing the show. I think Meghan knows that whatever she wears, at this point she will be the center of attention so my conviction is that she is trying to stay low key, that way no accusations of being attention hungry.

      • Belluga says:

I agree with this. When other royals are around, which they have been for 90% of her post-wedding engagements, she wouldn’t need to wear a very bright colour to be accused of attention seeking. Some people said her olive dress yesterday was an attempt to hog the limelight and I can’t think of a less “look at me!” colour!

We’ll see how Ireland goes, since that’s just her and Harry and is a bit less formal.

      • Nancy says:

I don’t buy that. If her dress was a lighter, softer color, she’d hardly be stealing the thunder. She would be dressing appropriately for the occasion and season. Maybe in December, she will wear pastels! JK

      • notasugarhere says:

I agree she’s just picking classic and sombre, so navy is a good choice for this.

      • Nic919 says:

So are we going to rip on Princess Anne for wearing a brown dress? This is getting crazy. She wears a light pink dress and it’s too pastel, now she wears navy dress for a military commemoration and it’s too dark. It’s one thing to comment on whether or not the colour works on her, but the constant criticizing that that Meghan is unable to dress for the occasion when clearly she is goes beyond nitpicking.

      • Snowflake says:

Yeah, i think she’s going with the clean classic look. It’s the right choice imo. And maybe she just likes dark rich colors becsuse they look better on her? Reaching pretty hard when youre criticizing her color of clothing Nancy.

      • Nancy says:

Nic919. Nobody is watching Princess Anne. All eyes are on the newlywed Meghan. When she does it right, she gets thumbs up all around. She’s married to royalty and until and unless that no longer is the case, she will be critiqued. It’s not personal, just ladies voicing opinions….the purpose of this website. I’m with Kaiser, the dress looks black to me and yesterday’s olive green was perfect for October. But tomorrow, she will knock it out of the park!!!

      • notasugarhere says:

Nancy you’re continuing to complain that Meghan’s dress is too dark, while ignoring the Princess Royal (who is in line to the throne herself) who is wearing brown. And Duchess of Gloucester in navy. And Princess Michael in black and red.

    • bonobochick says:

It isn’t Black. It’s navy blue. You can see it here: https://twitter.com/KensingtonRoyal/status/1016704089009385473

And others were wearing dark colors.

  6. OriginalLala says:

I love a man in a good uniform (hello sailor!) but Harry’s is not hot at all, and I usually find him pretty hot.

The shape of Meghan’s dress is nice but I don’t like the colour or the neckline, Its the only neckline she wears now?

  7. Rainbow says:

Meghan looks too severe, especially next to the Queen and the others wearing light colours. This outfit would be better at Remembrance Day ceremony.

Kate is Kate. This is her look now and I must say, for her it works. Even the big brooch is a good addition to the outfit.

    Sophie looks the best.

    • Masamf says:

Is Meghan the only one wearing a bespoke designer dress?

      • Becks1 says:

        Kate’s is bespoke.

      • Masamf says:

I was trying to understand the comment “Meghan’s outfit is bespoke, she is racking up those numbers” with no mention of all the other ladies’ bespoke and expensive outfits..

      • Rainbow says:

I never said Meghan’s is bespoke. But it is Dior. It’s still expensive no matter how you look at it. Do we always have to rag on Kate every time we comment on Meghan’s expenses? Kate is a notorious spendthrift. Everyone should know that by now.

They’re all wearing bespoke except Sophie (maybe). This lot never misses an opportunity to spend taxpayers’ money. They’re all the same.

Kate’s is like a uniform. This is her look now for royal family events. Gone are the lace dresses and printed dresses. She’s like the Queen. Always wear the same cut and style. You can never mistake Kate for copying anyone else with these McQueen dresses. She’s made this boring look her own.

      • Masamf says:

@Rainbow, I didn’t mention Kate not even once in my post, you did. So I don’t get where you come from accusing me of “always have to rag on Kate every time we comment on Meghan’s expenses”. If you are going to comment on Meghan “racking up those numbers”, yes you need to take ALL of them to task about doing the same, otherwise it starts looking like you just singling out Meghan for whatever reason your reason is. Regardless of Kate being notorious for her spending, still they ALL wore bespoke expensive outfits, so its not just Meghan and if you gonna call her out, then they all deserve your mention. And yes, that includes Sophie too.

      • Jan90067 says:

Meghan’s is bespoke Dior. The SS18 collection, I believe. The original has a slim, pencil silhouette, but with the same neckline and sleeves.

    • Becks1 says:

Also Kate’s brooch is RAF related – it has do with her position with the RAF.

    • Honey says:

I remember thinking that Kate’s outfits were too girly and immature for her role during her first year but that those choices were reflective of her relative lack of work experience. Meghan is struggling too. Her clothes are beginning to fit much better (thank you!) and we are beginning to see a bit more color (thank you!) but she is struggling nontheless. Where Kate lacked the overall life experience, I thought to make better choices given her age and role, I think Meghan is struggling with the overall look and feel for each of the occasions. She hasn’t found the Goldilocks spot yet but I think/hope that she’ll get there (Kate too).

    • Mac says:

The brooch used to be given to the top RAF female cadet, but a few years ago they switched to a sword, which is what is awarded to the top male cadet. It looks nice on her. I think she is old enough to start wearing more substantial bling.

  8. starryfish29 says:

That definitely reads as navy to me. Whatever the color, I’d like the entire look in my closet please. As for Kate, if you’re going to have the same dress in a million colors, for the love of god at least make it a cute one. That coat dress is some seriously matronly fug.

    • harla says:

Can we share, please?! While I admit to having multiples of the same t-shirts, I certainly don’t have multiples of the exact same, high end, bespoke dress. I can only imagine Sarah Burton’s frustration when Kate orders yet another identical coat dress only in a different color rather than try something new.

      • Starryfish29 says:

Of course we can share! I really don’t get the Kate/McQueen relationship; I get why she’d want to be associated with their fashion cred, but honestly since she started wearing them it feels like the brand has lost any semblance of it’s avant- grade reputation. Everything she wears from them is such basic boring rich lady stuff, and you hardly see any other celebs wearing edgier stuff from the label anymore; Sarah Burton is clearly skilled, but her design philosophy has definitely killed my love of the brand. It seems Burton was better as the right hand woman than she is as the label head.

      • magnoliarose says:

Do not get me started on McQueen these days. I loathe what has happened and I hate that Kate makes it all look like boring clothing for 65 year olds in 1973. If they weren’t going to keep the spirit of Alexander alive they should have just forgotten it and moved on.
Dressing a royal like this is just not what he was about.

    • Masamf says:

ITA. This dress is navy blue in some pictures but appears as gray/black or off black in others but I believe its more navy blue than black.

    • magnoliarose says:

I like Meghan’s look. I had to see it from different angles. It reads as charcoal to me but whatever it is I like it. I like that she is trying different color schemes (who wrote that summer is the seasons of pastel parades?) and flattering lines. I like that her shoes are lighter than her dress and I like that her hat doesn’t look like a cupcake for heads.

      • Masamf says:

Magnoliarose, I agree. I really like Meghan’s look lately, and I did really like her outfit on the christening day. Well, I must admit, the only outfit I didn’t like what the blue floral dress for cuzo Spencer wedding, the rest of them I really like on her. Kate looks good too, I just don’t like the heavy paste of makeup on her. Kate’s makeup makes me cringe.

      • Honey says:

What I like is that her clothes, so far, are contemporary. I don’t have a problem with retro at all but the BRF is stuck in the 80s in terms of look and feel. Let QEII and Anne et al. rock that decade. Let them have it😊.

      • Agenbiter says:

        “cupcake for heads” lol

  9. Abby says:

I like Meghan’s outfit! I laughed at the “widow” description though. I would have loved some statement jewelry of some kind though! A brooch, like every other lady here?? Maybe some colored shoes, if that’s allowed. But this is much better than some of her other outfits. Again, I love the fitted, tailored pieces she’s been wearing this week. And I need that fascinator. Need somewhere to wear it. Her hair looks great with the hat. Just a trim, tailored look all around. I would wear that dress.

Everyone else looks fine too. I would not be able to wear Kate’s dress for a couple of decades (I’m 34) but… whatever. She looks comfortable.

    • Bella DuPont says:

Re the brooch, yes…..something with orange stones for example, would look amazing with that dark colour.

    • minx says:

Meghan has really upped her hat game. I just love it, suits her petite figure.
No more poop hats for her.

      • Nancy says:

We’re going to a theme party from the 20’s. I can’t wait to wear my headband with veil. Chachacha. Not everyone can pull off wearing a hat. I guess they’re great to cover bad hair! I know my grandma “Nancy” (and u thought this was my name!!) wore them to church when we were kids, with gloves. Well hats off to them. Some of these feathers or whatnot on top make it appear as though some of these women are ready to take flight. The flying nun comes to mind…ha!

      • Masamf says:

IKR? I like the hats really much, but for me, the only one I disliked was the Christmas pudding brown one; otherwise the rest were/are alright. Is it true Meghan doesn’t have a stylist? Because the difference is really huge compared to when JM was her long distance stylist. If she still has no stylist, I guess her and Harry are doing just fine, hmm!

      • magnoliarose says:

The poo poo hat was the worst. She’s come a long way.
I love hats and I just found some antique cloches that I like. Nancy’s 20’s mention is right up my alley. I found a retro straw one with a flower for my daughter and she looks so cute in it.

      • Nancy says:

I would love to see your daughter’s hat magnoliarose. I wonder if she is under five. My youngest girl will be two in September. She’s a girly girl….I always have bows or flowered headbands in her hair. No hats yet. She’s not crazy about me dolling her up when it’s so hot. She’s like me, she likes the AC. Can’t wait for this party. I was meant to be born in that era!

    • LizB says:

I’m pretty sure those other ladies are wearing brooches that were given to them by the RAF, so that is why Meghan is the only one not wearing one.

  10. Darkbloom says:

Meghan looks stunning! Re the color, it’s confirmed as navy. It does read as black though in pictures.

    • Polly says:

Dior confirmed that it is black and it’s couture, not bespoke. I love the look on her but I don’t think it’s right for the occasion.

  11. Digital Unicorn says:

I love Megs whole outfit, it is so Hepburn. Katie Keen looked like a middle aged housewife next to her. Why oh why does she insist on wear the SAME style of dress coat to everything. Pale pastel colours do nothing for Kate, she looks better with darker reds, greens and blue.

But am sure Megs will get slated for her look.

    • Red says:

Yet you just slated Kate for her look! Both women get criticized too harshly for their looks/outfits.

      • kate says:

Why the men often turned looking like potatoes and nobody criticized them. The royal fandom are a cesspool of sexism, often led by women, it’s mindblowing.

      • Surely Wolfbeak says:

I love you, Kate. I love you.

      • Levin says:

So true kate, I snort whenever most royal watchers speak about their feminist principles. From clothing to speech-reading to body language, the princes sit largely uncriticized while they pick a woman to tear to shreds.

      • magnoliarose says:

Maybe because their clothes all look the same and they do get criticized. We discussed at length about William’s ill fitting pants that were jammed up his bum last year. We talked his weird look at an outing with Kate. We talked about Harry’s ubiquitous blue suits and desert boots. We discussed their hairlines and William’s unfortunate loss of sexy. We even discussed his package and how he put on his pants.

And for real criticizing fashion is just what it is. It has nothing to do with feminism. They are photographed public figures who spend millions a year just so we will talk about it. They don’t get to dictate if it is positive or not.

    • harla says:

I agree that Kate does look better in richer colors, the pale pastels just don’t do anything for her.

      • HadleyB says:

She will be wearing bright colors when she is Queen.

      • notasugarhere says:

Oh, is that the new “She’ll get off her ass and get to work once she’s Queen Consort”?

Kate wore hot pink to the 9/11 Memorial; she doesn’t always go with yet another identical bland pastel McQueen.

      • Masamf says:

@HadleyB, why, is she gonna wait for the next 25-30 years to wear bright colors? That’s a long time to wait, non? And, who knows, she might never be queen. Might swell start wearing her clothes is she wants, we only have today to do what we can. Yesterday and today is her’s, tomorrow may never be her’s

    • Bella DuPont says:

To be fair, let’s also remember she has a very young baby and is probably still working on her baby weight as well……I’ll give her a pass style-wise for the next 6 months or so…(personally).

      • magnoliarose says:

I won’t. She is on her 3rd child 7 years in. Nope. And has a fleet of nannies and servants to help her.
If she were a larger woman who had struggles losing baby weight I would be all on your side. She is slender and fit and young with a very very light “work” load.

    • whatever says:

This coat dress is one of the most modern looking ones she owns. It isn’t fussy, doesn’t have huge buttons or fills and has clean lines. So the middle aged housewife jab makes no sense.

      • minx says:

Yeah, I don’t mind this coat dress at all, for the reasons you stated. Not crazy about the pale color, I like her in stronger colors, but otherwise not bad at all.

      • Bluthfan says:

It’s incredibly dowdy. I don’t know if it is color, the fabric or the collar. But it looks like a mother of the bride suit.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Am not a fan of the coat dresses as I think they age her – she’s 36 not 56. Her coat dresses would look great on Carole who generally dresses well. Just because she has 3 kids doesn’t mean she needs to dress like a middle aged housewife – just look at the European royals who dress fabulously. Queen Rania and Queen Letizia look amazing and they don’t wear coat dresses. But I guess they have become her go to uniform for the job.

      • homeslice says:

IMO neither Kate or Meg will even match Letizia’s sense of style. You either got it or you don’t.

      • notasugarhere says:

Letizia’s royal style took years to develop. There were some horrible evening gowns, cocktail dresses, and frilly daytime outfits for a few years until she found her more classic style.

      • Becks1 says:

The coatdress in itself is nice enough, but the overall pattern of coat dresses does somewhat age her. Kate dresses very similar to carole middleton and Camilla (just look at their outfits from yesterday! Camilla’s was very similar to Kate’s) and what works for your mother and MIL….probably shouldn’t work for you. And I think Carole and Camilla are both pretty nice dressers.

    • whattodonow says:

Meghan will get slated for her look. Makes a nasty insult toward Kate.

      LOL. Impressive. /s

Seriously though, your comment is mind blowing. It completely shows the gross double standard. And the sexism toward these women.

  12. BendyWindy says:

I hate Meghan’s shoes; love everything else.

I also like Sophie’s dress a lot. Chevrons!

  13. Lizabeth says:

I think Meghan’s dress may be a dark navy. In lots of outdoor pictures the hat clearly has a blue base. And in daylight the dress looks blue when seen against mens dark suits.

I wish Kate had worn this bespoke version of her many McQueens to the wedding. Unlike what she wore, it’s so clearly not white/cream.

    • Belluga says:

That’s true, the mint would have suited the wedding very well and would have fit the much-touted colour scheme too, while being definitely not cream.

  14. Maria says:

Not keen on the black dress. Kate’s dress is the exact repeat of the yellow wedding dress, the pink trooping dress last year, and the white dress she wore at Charlotte’s wedding. A bit much.

    • Becks1 says:

It also looks very similar to the outfit she wore yesterday, from what we could see.

      Branch out Kate.

    • Coz' says:

The pink one was totally different except for the lenght non?
I agree for the others thought

  15. Jane says:

Love the black dress on Meghan. It is the summer of the collarbone.

  16. BaronSamedi says:

I love Meghan’s whole look. It seems like she found herself and now Kate is hosed.

    • Ms. Turtle says:

Why is Kate “hosed”? These kinds of comments always perplex me. Because one woman has found her style footing means another woman will now what? Be forever compared unfavorably? Is there not room to think both women look fine? Kate has a specific style. It clearly isn’t approved of by most on this site, but she seems not to care. She found her own style years ago and I doubt she will change because of Meghan. This pitting two women against each other is ugly.

      • Nancy says:

They do the same thing in Hollywood. Kate has no worries. People can mock her clothing, style, whatever…she’s going to be married to the King and in all likelihood, later on in life, the mother of the King. Meghan is Aunt Meg who comes to tea with silly Uncle Harry. It’s all about birth order. So, either William won by being first born, or lost, depending upon how badly they seek the throne. Granny won’t let go at any cost. Sucks to be Charles.

      • magnoliarose says:

Nancy don’t let your biases show or anything. lol
It will be a very long time before William can even contemplate a throne. He is second in line so this whole excuse that one day this or that makes no sense. We are talking about what is today.
After Brexit the entire BRF will be hard to sell to the public. When TQ is no longer alive a lot of goodwill will go with her.

        @Mrs Turtle
There is room for both to look fine. I agree. But I can’t pretend to like a look just to keep things even. I don’t see Meghan’s successes as Kate’s failures or visa versa. I think those stand all on their own.

      • Nancy says:

Mags: I don’t have a preference for either women. Yesterday, Kate knocked me out with her joy at the Christening of her son. Maybe it is because I’m vulnerable now, still in a semi haze over my brother’s death while carrying twins of my own. Even though Meghan is close to my age, she seems like a kid. I never had a thing for Harry like a lot of women do, not a ginge gal. But whatever, they’re great. Like I said the other day, I wish we had our own royalty so we wouldn’t have to fawn over another countries royals. We will never be Royals…courtesy of Lorde!!!

    • homeslice says:

I guess I don’t understand why Kate is “hosed”? From the look of Kate yesterday, she looks like she is living her best life. Why can’t they both just be different from each other?

    • Masamf says:

I don’t know what @BaronSamedi meant by “Kate is hosed” and it seems not many do understand. So I’ll refrain from attacking the poster because I know not what they meant.

    • perplexed says:

I think both are well-dressed women. Neither are lighting the world on fire, but I don’t think either is inappropriately dressed like Madonna at Event X. I think they’re both dressing like they’re supposed to for their roles. To be honest, I think they dress…similarly. I don’t see much of a difference — they both look like they’re following a dress code (i.e “appropriate.” slightly conservative, and not something that Kim Kardashian has ever heard of. And if I had to choose, I’d choose how they dress over whatever Kim Kardashian and her family are selling at Sears).

  17. Beth says:

Meghan would’ve looked better in something with color. That pretty yellow dress got me thinking she might have realized blah colors didn’t look that great.Nude pumps must be a duchess fashion regulation or they wouldn’t wear them with every single outfit

  18. Sam says:

Nah,Meghan was always going to attend, her name was on the list last week.Kate decided to at the last minute.
Her dress is also dark navy from the pictures not black.
Love the whole look and her hat game is getting so much better,I like it

  19. Belluga says:

Kate’s 4 for 4 on new McQueen at her most recent public appearances (wedding, Trooping, christening, RAF service) and 2 of those were the coat dress she must have in about 6 colours by now. Let’s talk mixing it up, love.

  20. Thatsallfolks says:

First the mushed peas monstrosity, now the black widow look. Girl needs help.

    • LizB says:

      Girl is fine.

    • notasugarhere says:

She looked great in the olive yesterday.

    • Masamf says:

Meghan looks fabulous in both outfits, none of them classify as “monstrosity”.

      • Nic919 says:

I think the only truly horrible outfit Meghan has worn post marriage has been for a private event, which was that Oscar de la renta house coat. The rest have varied from ok to very stylish, like that yellow dress or today’s outfit.

      • magnoliarose says:

I see good things post marriage. I like she is trying to find herself and hasn’t looked like a walking joke. I haven’t loved a lot of it but I haven’t hated anything beyond the Oscar dress.

    • RoyalBree says:

Meghan looked fabulous in the olive green yesterday and the cut really suited her. But I’m tired of endless boatnecks on her — a little variety, please! And I don’t like today’s dress in the chest area. Once again, crumpled lining. And it looks way too tight, as if she’s bound her chest to be as flat as possible. I can’t reconcile this with the huge bust she had on Deal or No Deal. She either had implants then (and had them removed afterward) or a very padded bra, because there’s nothing to speak of now. And Kate needs more variety too. It drives me nuts that all these McQueen dresses she has pull open at the waist.

  21. Annie says:

Enough with the boat necks, Meghan! i think Meghan looks good in full skirts, though. And this dress fits her nicely. The color isn’t right for the occasion compared with the other ladies.

I like Kate’s look, as I do the other women. Kate is a bit boring, yes, but Meghan’s boat necks are fast becoming the same.

And I just want to mention how refreshing it is seeing unbotoxed, filler-free women.

    • Sam says:

Kate has been wearing the same style McQueen for the past 7 years,Meghan’s boatneck is only less than 2 months…ok

      • Mei says:

I’m so with you @Annie. Yes it can be your ‘signature’ but 4 outfits in such a short space of time with the exact same neckline doesn’t have to happen. It’s such a different neckline which makes it even more obvious (even if it isn’t a conscious choice when picking the outfit), plus everyone remembers her wedding dress as it was so recent.

@Sam Not saying that Kate doesn’t need to change it up because lord knows it’s been said for YEARS, but I don’t feel like she’ll ever change now and we kinda have more hope for Meghan.

      • savu says:

@mei I’m totally with you. Great that she wants this to be her “thing”, but ya gotta cultivate it over time. When it’s this quick, it comes off more like a phase than a signature.

  22. Busyann says:

I first I was a little surprised that she went with black, but looking at other photos, I think this is actually navy? It doesn’t matter though, it’s gorgeous and looks great on her.

  23. wheneight says:

Anyone else super over the nude shoe trend? I think it’s so ugly. It just makes me do a double take because I think the person is barefoot. I really don’t get it, what’s the point of wearing expensive shoes that just blend into the background? Is it supposed to make you look taller or something? Someone please explain this to me.

    • magnoliarose says:

I like it sometimes. It is hard to wear colored heels to certain events and black heels can look too severe. White can become tacky very fast. So nude can be the least visually jarring choice. She could not wear a color to this event but a deeper shade of brown like chocolate would have been a lot better.

      • Milla says:

I know it’s wrong but i loveee white pumps and ankle boots…
It’s like going back to the 70s. I cannot explain it but i love white shoes.

      • magnoliarose says:

Haha Milla. I wear white shoes but more than once I had to think about it.

    • Beth says:

+100 nude shoes are so ugly. Wearing nude pumps makes the person look like they’re walking barefoot on their tiptoes. They could save money by just going barefoot instead of buying expensive shoes that make them look barefoot

    • jan90067 says:

Wheneight, nude pumps are thought to elongate and slim the leg, so if you’re not blessed with long, lovely legs, this is one option. Sort of the same “eye trick” as matching hosiery to shoe color. One long, uninterrupted line of “color” (or lack of, in this case).

  24. Jayna says:

I like Meghan’s dress. She’s finally wearing things she’s not swimming in, properly fitted, and it makes a difference.

I love the color of Kate’s dress.

  25. Becks1 says:

Meghan looks wonderful. I love the boatnecks on her – this sounds weird, but I personally really like my collarbone/shoulder area, so I am drawn to boatneck/bateau collars as well, so I’m with Meghan there, ha.

Kate looks nice in general, but she really does have that dress in several colors, or similar dresses in that exact color, etc. She needs to branch out a bit.

    • harla says:

I agree Becks1, the bateau/boatneck lines really works for Meghan, highlighting her long, beautiful neck.

    • jan90067 says:

I love boatnecks for that reason, too. My collar bone/shoulders look so much more “delicate” than the rest of me lol. I have a lot of tops that showcase them. Nothing wrong with that. You find what works for you. What would be wrong if this becomes Meg’s signature, just as coat dresses are Kate’s, long coats/dresses in bright colors are TQ’s, etc.

  26. Bea says:

Meghan’s dress is navy which also explains her choice of nude color shoes that I’m not a fan of with this dress. I love the shape of the dress, though. It’s a new look for Meghan and it’s nice to see her try a different silhouette.

Kate’s standard uniform is fine but it’s boring.

  27. Mego says:

I love Meghan’s dress all except the colour for Summer. It’s Fall/Winter colour but she looks like she is having a great time playing dress up. Sophie looks good and I thought Anne Princess Royal looked really lovely in her outfit. Kate looked nice and I appreciate the fact that although a tad matronly her outfits look a heck of a lot better and more dignified than younger years. As well her hair looks so much better not flying around her face. She looks so good and healthy at this weight and I hope she doesn’t go back to that extreme thinness she was.

  28. Aang says:

I’m reading a book about the year 1947 right now and just read about Dior and the “new look”. I absolutely love this silhouette and I think it suits her. And as someone that owns a closet full of black I’ll never complain about black for any occasion.

  29. Hkk says:

I so don’t want to be one of those people looking for trouble. I love MM but does she basically ask permission to hold hands/arms with her husband when they are in public as royal family? That seems so demeaning. 🙁

    • harla says:

I don’t think she asks permission, I think she does it because she wants to and Harry certainly doesn’t seem to mind 🙂

      • jan90067 says:

Harry reaches for her hand just as often as she does his. They are still in the Honeymoon stage, and they’re mad for each other. I love this! We’re so used to seeing K & W who are usually so stiff with each other in public (to the point where, up to this last pregnancy) he wouldn’t even help his heavily pregnant wife up/down stairs!

I say GO FOR IT M & H! Love it up, and any “protocol”, written or unwritten, be damned! lol

    • Masamf says:

I noticed that when she touched his elbow, he “conveniently” placed his fingers on his coat buttons so she hooked her hand in his. Soon after she let his arm go and placed her clutch in that hand, he dangled his arm. I don’t think she asks for permission.

    • notasugarhere says:

No permission needed. Charles and Camilla also hold hands and are openly affectionate while on the job. Charles is always reaching out for her, calling her His Darling Wife, etc. They are not forbidden to show PDA; William and Kate choose not to.

  30. kate says:

I would not have worn black for this occasion but I love the dress and the HAT. YES. And the impeccable fit if that Dior dress really shows how much her wedding dress did not fit. SMDH at Givenchy.

    • Ms. Turtle says:

I like the dress. And I think it’s navy, so I love that. Big fan of navy. But what about the breast darts? Does anyone else notice the bust looks weird in nearly every picture?

      • May says:

Uh true, now that you said it it’s quite noticeable.

      • RoyalBree says:

I noticed — the bust is way too tight and the darts are weird. I think the bust area looks weird, crumpled lining, and ill-fitting on just about every dress she’s worn since the wedding dress, except for her day with the Queen, Ascot, and yesterday. The christening dress was a total win for me — I’d buy that in a second!

    • notasugarhere says:

Go read up about the dress and fabric, plus the design in general. It was made to skim not be skin tight, a function of the design of the dress and the weight of the fabric.

      • kate says:

That was not skimming, that was floating.

      • notasugarhere says:

That’s a lovely way of describing it and how one fashion blog described it positively, floating or suspended in air around her and not corseted within an inch of its life.

      • Linda says:

Nah, the fit of the wedding dress was atrocious, compare it to this dress. Meghan looks stunning here.

      • notasugarhere says:

That may be your opinion, but not mine. Nor it is that of the professional fashion critics who wrote about their love of her dress including the deliberate loose fit. Those who get it, get it.

      • Msthang says:

She is like Chutney, she needs to find the same bra strapless and stick with the same brand, the green top she is wearing in Ireland makes her look busty, that Navy dress made her look flat as a board, she just needs help in the lingerie department!!

  31. Ninks says:

I think they all look fine.

It does make me laugh to think that for the past two months Meghan has been attending loads of events showcasing how great and wonderful and mighty Britain is, lots of traditional stuff highlighting the power and majesty of the British royals. Then this week she’s travelling to Ireland and her visit will include the site where the British army opened fire on a crowd attending a football match and killed 13 innocent people and one of the players, and the famine museum where she’ll learn all about how centuries of British rule, negligence, racism, and ethnic cleansing led to one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of the 19th century. It’s a different side to the family and the institution she’s married into.

    • OriginalLala says:

yeah, the whole awful colonial history of the BRF tends to be glossed over, which annoys the hell out of me as a Canadian

      • magnoliarose says:

It annoys the hell out of me too because we are still suffering the consequences of it.
Every country the British colonized or interfered with is in turmoil and that includes America.

    • Masamf says:

Folks, every place on earth that the europeans grabbed to make their own, they killed and ravaged to near extinction of the pre existing peoples. ALL those places are is still suffering the consequences, not just exclusively British colonies. And yes, the Irish have their history too of doing same to other peoples.

      • Linda says:

But we are specifically talking about the British royal family. As a Nigerian, the effects of British colonial rule lingers and the recent killings in my country plus the Boko Haram insurgency further highlights the atrocities committed by Britian one of which was amalgamating the northern and southern regions of my country.

      • OriginalLala says:

@Masamf of course, but we are talking about the BRF and how they are so very good at “forgetting” their atrocious history around the world.

      • MrsBump says:

I must have missed that history lesson 😉
Which country did Ireland colonise again? How many people did they enslave? How many countries have they f*cked up?

  32. Belluga says:

Ok can we talk about whatever the heck The Queen is wearing? She so very rarely gets it wrong, but I’m not a fan of this. I think it’s the dupion silk…

    • notasugarhere says:

Same here! What was Angela Kelly thinking?

    • minx says:

Yes, not my favorite look for her, at all.

    • jan90067 says:

I love purple and green together. I did my first apartment with emerald and amethyst accents and it was gorgeous. Always got compliments 😊

    • notasugarhere says:

The more I look at it, even the scale of the hat is wrong. Makes me think, badly, of the pale blue dress coat Diana put William in one year.

  33. cee says:

Why does Kate insist on having the same designer coat in different shades and with minimal tweaks? I swear she owns at least 20 coats by McQueen in different shades and with some minimal differences in the sleeve and neckline. Too much money she can’t think what to spend it on.

  34. Iknow says:

If you open my closet, all you will see is black. As a lover of all things black, I am loving the hell out of Meghan’s dress. She looks stunning. I’m not a fan of the shoes, but I doubt she’s allowed to make a statement with a colored shoes. The tailoring is also well down and she looks as if she knows it. This is Meghan’s lane and she should stick to it. Kate as usual, looks the same. Even down to her hair. It’s the same dress!

  35. artistsnow says:

    hahahahahaha,
Poor Meghan. She can never get it right for you all. Too dark, too light, too long, wrong color, too loose, too short, wrong shoes. lol

That girl is so gorgeous and so in love she could wear a sack dress to church and it wouldn’t matter.

    • Milla says:

Of course people are gonna comment. It’s BRF. She’s part of it. Mostly positive comments for Meghan, but she cannot wear a sack or ripped jeans. Her role requires her to dress up.

    • homeslice says:

Nah, she wore a sack to a wedding a few weeks ago and looked a mess.

      • Lmao! It looked like, she threw on the duvet from her bed.

      • minx says:

The bedspread dress was her worst look, IMO. Second worst was the Ascot shirt dress, she looked like “the help,” so sad and drab. She’s definitely been on the upswing since then.

      • PodyPo says:

And then there was that striped jumpsuit thing before the wedding. I’ve blocked out the details. She has made so much progress since then. We really do nitpick, but that comes with her “job” now. I do believe she looks at the photos and is learning quickly about how things photograph. And thankfully she got the hair sorted out. It’s looked great lately.

      • magnoliarose says:

I hated the wedding dress but I hate most wedding dresses and was prepared to hate hers. lol One day she will look back and cringe. I read Diana looked back and hated hers too. It was a cloud of disaster.

    • minx says:

I don’t think that’s true, I think Meghan is well appreciated on this site. Personally I try to critique her clothing, not her.

  36. April May says:

Meghan was always attending, it was Kate who was never meant to, until she showed up today. I can’t believe she has yet another version of this coat dress. Why not wear they light blue one to the wedding. At least it’s not photographing white. Agree that Meghan’s should have been in a lighter colour. It’s lovely but a bit dark. Adore her hat/fascinator. Its amazing.

    • whatever says:

Kate was always attending too. The BRF released as press release about a couple of weeks ago detailing which members of the family were going to attend, Kate was on there..

      • Nic919 says:

The first press release didn’t not include Kate. Check Gert’s Royals on Twitter and on June 28 it notes only that Harry, Meghan and William would be attending. Gert is not a “hater” and takes her information from the press releases. Kate was only added later on.

      • Lizabeth says:

I don’t think so. Every media outlet is also referring to Kate’s attendance as a “surprise.”

      • Belluga says:

The press release I saw had The Queen, Charles, Camilla, William, Harry, Meghan, Andrew, Edward and Sophie. No Kate, her attendance was announced this morning.

      • Vogue says:

The press release a couple of weeks ago did not include Kate’s name, however her name was listed in the church programme. Church programme’s are printed in advance so I think it was always expected that she’ll be there. As she’s officially on maternity leave they probably didn’t want to announce anything in advance. Kind of like William showing up for the Anzac day service during his paternity leave even though he wasn’t listed as attending.

      • magnoliarose says:

Kate decided last minute for whatever reason. It could be that PR wise TQ being there and Kate being absent a day after TQ not being at the christening would have appeared strange. Especially since Kate doesn’t have the family orders for service it might have been construed as some fodder for gossip.

      • Vogue says:

@magnoliarose I seriously doubt it was a last minute decision for Kate to attend. Her name was on the church program & they are usually printed well in advance. I think trying to link this to a family order or the Queen not attending Prince Louis’ christening is too much projecting!

The only people gossiping about this is the royal fandom! Everyone knows Kate is on maternity leave so no one would have found it strange if she wasn’t there.

    • notasugarhere says:

It is Kate’s patronage, she should have been scheduled for this all along. No reason to play this game and show up unexpectedly. And yet she still had plenty of time to have a new custom outfit made for the event. Hmmm.

      • homeslice says:

Annnnddd, people were complaining a couple weeks ago that she could fit in a polo match with her kids, so she could fit in an official engagement. So which is it? She should sit at home on her bum or show up? Just admit you loathe her and nothing she does pleases you, because that’s exactly what we all know already.

      • minx says:

You complain that she doesn’t work. She worked and you still complain.

      • notasugarhere says:

You’ve made the point yourself. She had plenty of time to make it to a horse show and polo match, both of which were private events. And obvious Take Our Picture events since they didn’t protest the pap shots as they usually do.

But the idea that she wasn’t going to show up to this event, honoring her biggest military patronage? The one HM basically tricked her in to last year? Instead we get the game playing that she isn’t going to show, then last minute she does. And in a brand new custom outfit, so she was obviously planning on showing up the whole time.

      • Enn says:

But if she’s on maternity leave, then this was optional especially given that the christening was yesterday.

      • Enn says:

@Homeslice, that would certainly save time!

      • Josie says:

KP is playing games ahead of the release of Kate’s appearance numbers at the end of the year. They’re going to be super low again, but this time it’s going to be “she rushed back too soon after George and Charlotte, she took it slow with Louis.” Showing up only unexpectedly allows this main (dumb) narrative to work.

Hats off to the Cambridges, though, because Kate’s low number of appearances inflames the Internet but has no measurable effect on the overall popularity of the Cambridges. Public polls consistently show them as well-liked (to the extent that anyone pays attention) and in a hidebound institution, they’ve clearly decided to play the very long game.

Internet fever dreams aside, the line of succession has only been changed under moments of extreme duress. Even in 1936, the Firm stuck with Bertie regardless of their concerns about his fitness to rule, lack of male heirs, and the availability of other, more “appropriate” brothers. William and Kate have clearly decided to do whatever they want now on the assumption that it won’t have any real effect by the time their turn comes.

[I don’t think the existence of the dress proves anything about Kate’s plans. She must have those McQueen coat dresses made by the dozens.]

      • MrsBump says:

@Homeslice – don’t you know, if ONLY kate worked more then some of the commenters here would have not a *single* word of criticism against her.. oh wait she is working more and they are still complaining 😉 😉

      • notasugarhere says:

Working more is not the complaint. The complaint is the games she and William played around this. She wasn’t announced to be attending until the last minute, but she had a custom outfit made for the occasion. The last minute announcement was meant, as Josie points out, to make it look like, ‘Gee she just couldn’t wait to get back to work’. Snort.

      • Josie says:

In fairness, that’s Catherine Quinn with Nanny Maria and the kids. She’s Kate’s Private Secretary and I’m pretty confident she doesn’t do nanny duties.

Actually, the sourcing on the multiple nannies story has always been suspect to me and there are enough unauthorized shots of the kids with only Maria and their security detail for me to doubt the doubters on this one.

      • notasugarhere says:

France ski trip first-person witnesses said three nannies + Carole. They had William’s original nanny plus night nurse originally, lied about both until they were outed in photos. Most of the time they’re strategically cut out of the photos, so you have to find multiple sources who choose not to edit for PR.

      • MrsBump says:

So all these assertions basically hang by the thread of kate’s bespoke outfit? Snort

She’s got a wardrobe full of those boring dresses, who knows, maybe a few that’s never been worn ?

But by all means let’s not let a logical explanation get in the way of hate for good old lazy kat. Sigh.. if only she worked more 😉 😉

      • Nic919 says:

There has to be another nanny in addition to Maria at the moment because Nanny Maria was at the wedding with the kids but for Louis. So someone was with him while Will and Kate were at the wedding.

      • passerby says:

“Just admit you loathe her and nothing she does pleases you, because that’s exactly what we all know already.

Homeslice, I think this may apply to you…Your feelings towards Meghan and stuff.

      • Josie says:

I know the source was the French ski trip, that’s why I don’t trust it. Eyewitnesses today saw two nannies in the window and one of them was actually Kate’s Private Secretary.

The Cambridge household is locked up tight as a drum. I don’t believe they tell us everything (I’m inclined to think there are two nannies, or at least an assistant for Maria$ but I don’t believe most of what’s written, either. There just aren’t enough sources to have confidence that it’s not all page-filler.

    • Josie says:

And … Kate didn’t show up for the reception afterward, but the Sussexes did, before booking it for Ireland.

(Do we give her a pass since the kids were in the building and she may have had to nurse Louis? Maybe? She left Charlotte for a day of tennis at about the same age, after all. The simple fact is, the Cambridges don’t care what gets published about their work habits right now.)

      • notasugarhere says:

There were two nannies shown at the window, no? Third nanny must have been with Louis.

      • magnoliarose says:

William does better on his own. He should cultivate that.

      • Josie says:

Sorry, threads get confusing on my phone. That’s Catherine Quinn in the window there. She’s definitely not on nanny duty!

  37. MellyMel says:

I actually think they all look great! And Meg’s dress is navy.

  38. Peg says:

DRump is visiting Friday, and Theresa May in a precarious position, let’s hope a no confidence vote, is not held on Friday.
I want Meghan to be at Windsor Castle for his visit, start practicing her diplomacy, maybe she can borrow a Tiara, dRump likes glitter.

  39. Mellie says:

I love everyone’s look. I think Kate looks very summery and pretty, but man, I love Megan’s dress, the fit, the cut, the boat neck…it just looks classy to me. Sophie and HRH were on point as usual.

  40. Eleonor says:

    Where are the buttons???

  41. Hmm says:

I think this dress is better than anything else Dior has made recently. But at the same time it looks out of place.

  42. Hattie says:

Beautiful women. Unfortunately she looks like she’s going to a funeral. Just an awful look. Why go so dark. Makes her stand out in a horrible way.

  43. p says:

Meghan’s dress is really pretty, Sophie looks great, The Queen, well, not a fan, but its a very Queen outfit. Kate, stop it with that same coat dress all the time.

  44. Tiffany says:

Now that MM is a duchess, her shoe game has gone to hell. I do not like them, at all.

  45. TyrantDestroyed says:

I think all of them look very good here and aligned with the event. I’m just not a fan of the black eyeliner. It looks too harsh. I can’t believe I will say this but William wins this time the who wore it best among the men. Dude looks very fine in uniform.

  46. Enough Already says:

Sophie looks stunning – radiant and sophisticated. Meghan looks chic and elegant but the shoe choice is underwhelming and makes her legs look even tinier. Pics of the queen look like replicas of pics of her mother. Twins.

    • violet says:

@Enough Already – Sophie does not get nearly the credit she deserves for individuality combined with royal duty. There is something so refreshingly unpretentious about her.

      • liriel says:

I agree with you violet a lot. Sophie doesn’t get enough credit. She is not the most beautiful but I loved her outfit and the whole vibe. She looked perfect.

  47. Goldengirlslover34 says:

Damn if that dress aint both chic, simple and sexy! I would wear the hell out of it! This is the type of dress I would buy in every color. It’s so damn flattering and beautifully cut and timeless.

  48. PodyPo says:

Meghan is risking running the boat neck/off shoulder look into the ground. Yes, it is flattering on her, but it’s so trendy that it will render these outfits unable to be reworn. The silhouette is good on her, perfect length, and the hat looks lovely. It just looks a bit too cocktail party to me. She could have repeated the navy dress she wore on the day before her wedding, which was stunning. But they all do seem to like to throw mass quantities of money to the wind.
P.S. Queen should burn that hat.

  49. Britt says:

Kate looks boring, but god I’ve seen her look beyond stunning so I imagine she has this wardrobe for boring events and then another wardrobe for more exciting occasions.

Meghan is wearing navy and I think this boat neck dress she is wearing is perfect for her, her fuller skirt looks grand.

I think the Queen is unwell currently and probably psyching herself up for what can only be a stressful week leading up to the unfortunate meeting with Douche Trump himself…

The Queen is well known for despising missing appointments/engagements/events etc and missed the christening of Prince Louis, which I imagine she must have hated. Given her age, I’m surprised at how well she does attending all that she manages.

    • notasugarhere says:

The announcement about her not attending the christening stated the decision had been made weeks ago. It wasn’t a last minute cancellation due to health or tiredness.

  50. homeslice says:

So, I thought they weren’t allowed to wear black? Wasn’t that the thing around Kate’s Metoo let down? So the dress must be dark navy? It’s a very pretty look on her, but it’s summer, and I think it looks out of place.

  51. Guest says:

I love it’s not an old lady dress so kudos to her for that. Harry though, oh boy does he win best dressed 😻

  52. Amelie says:

Love Meghan’s outfit. She is definitely wearing navy, not black from the pictures I saw on People. The only thing that looked slightly off was the darting around her bodice. Also the girl likes her boat necks so I expect we will see those a lot on her, it does look good on her. It is a perfectly demure outfit that works well for somber occasions and parties.

As for Kate’s outfit, I don’t hate it but I could have sworn I had seen this on her during one of the tours (like Australia or New Zealand). But I found the picture of the coat I was thinking of and it’s not the same just similar color. She looks perfectly fine. I think for these kind of somber occasions she likes to wear repeats/similar outfits she’s worn in the past to take off the conversation off her clothes.

Sophie’s outfit is the best IMO.

The Queen looks like an Easter egg, I am not a fan of that color combo.

    • Sofia says:

I will never understand why such talented and expensive design houses can’t avoid that unfortunate darting. If it’s inherent to the cut of the dress, then cut it another way!

    • Lizabeth says:

@Amelie, I wish Kate would wear repeats instead of wearing brand-new bespoke dresses that look almost identical to dresses she’s worn in the past. Even TQ seems to repeat more often these days than Kate.

  53. Jessica says:

The dress is clearly navy. Not sure why people are seeing black. I love the look and fit and flare works best for her.

  54. Karen says:

Love Meghan’s dress!! It is definitely Navy. So chic.

Kate is wearing her uniform. Also I am believer that pastels are for bridesmaids.

  55. Other Renee says:

They all look lovely. However, Meaghan’s dress screams “funeral” and I don’t like the shoe color. The Queen for the win.

  56. Joannie says:

I really dislike Harry’s beard. He looks much better clean shaven.

    • minx says:

I’m probably one of the few who think Harry is extremely average looking. Probably a nice guy, etc. But he really married up with Meghan, and to his credit he seems to know it.

      • liriel says:

I agree with you look-wise but come on, he’s a prince. So I think it’s a trade off – he was the most eligible bachelor, she was one of many pretty actresses. No diss to Meghan, it’s unfair as hell that’s why I dislike royalty in general.

  57. Annie says:

If you compare this dress to her wedding dress, you can see just how badly the wedding dress was tailored. They both have practically the same neckline and sleeves, but this dress actually fits her torso and her arms are not drowning in loose fabric. It’s such an improvement! Proves once and for all that her clothes can be tighter without looking cheap or skanky.

  58. TheOriginalMia says:

The dress is navy. And she looks great. Not a fan of the shoes, but the rest is spot on especially next to Harry’s uniform.

Kate is Kate. Bland, boring coat over a dress we’ll never see. I will say it’s nice she has dieted/exercised the pregnancy weight away. She looks much better with a little weight on her face.

  59. Agenbiter says:

What determines where the RF members stand on the balcony? There was a lot of discussion about this at the Trooping. Here MM is standing next the Queen.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5937331/Kate-wears-prestigious-diamond-Dacre-brooch-attends-RAF-centenary.html

    • homeslice says:

Eh, there was more room on the balcony this time. I don’t think it’s a big deal at all.

    • Mego says:

Looks like the balcony appearance was really pared down and Prince Andrew got to go to accompany TQ. Wessexes, Anne et al not there unless I’m missing something. Read that this is in keeping with Charles’ vision of a paired down monarchy.

      • Josie says:

The queen’s four children and their spouses, Charles’s children and spouses, and the senior Kents and Gloucesters were all on the balcony. There have been a number of photos published of Kate appearing to look away from the main group — she’s actually standing next to Anne, and they spent a fair amount of time talking to each other.

      • Becks1 says:

Wessexes are on the left, Anne is on the right (next to William and Kate.)

    • magnoliarose says:

This also shows how similar in height Kate and Meghan are. She is not 5’4 and Kate is not 5’9 unless Meghan is 5’7.
We should whip out this photo to put that argument to rest.

      • liriel says:

They’re no similar in height. Kate is definitely taller. Not by 5 inches by any means but this one picture doesn’t prove anything. Both are slim/skinny yet Meghan is petite and Kate on the tall side.

    • Agenbiter says:

At Lainey’s you can see 18 people on the balcony – and she notes Meghan being at the Queen’s side (with a nice pic of the two of them together). http://www.laineygossip.com/the-queen-and-the-royal-four-attend-100th-anniversary-of-the-royal-air-force/50324

  60. Ginger says:

Meghan has lost all her flavor. The Firm works fast.

    • Sage says:

Flavor, confidence and energy are all gone. She’s quickly morphing into a stepford wife.

    • Mego says:

Part of the problem is that we have seen so much of her with the RF and she has looked intimidated and deferrential. The first balcony appearance really seemed to unnerve her. I look forward to some solo appearances in the future. I would also love to hear her to give a public address rather than Harry at some point as well.

    • notasugarhere says:

She looks great here, just like she did yesterday. Looks stylish, happy, and relaxed arriving in Ireland too.

  61. AmandaPanda says:

I don’t think the fit & flare suits her at all. It looks very wide at the back – it’s the peril of having a comparatively boxy waist. And let’s not talk about the cost of a bespoke Dior. Girlfriend has well and truly got her claws on that royal credit card.

    Her face is beautiful.

Kate looks lovely if boring in those coat dresses. I don’t understand why they have to be McQueen though – couldn’t a good tailor run them up in any colour for her for half the price?

In summary: both women look pretty. But am grumpy about all the excessive spending.

As an aside – the flyover in london waS AWESOME. And a little scary – those typhoons were flying low…!

    • violet says:

@AmandaPanda – well, I have to disagree, I love the fit and flare here, I just think the look is Major Cocktail Party and wrong for the event.

Agree re Kate, and more and more I respect her for sticking to her own authenticity, even if it is a bit boring. She’s a future Queen Consort, mother of future a future King, being a fashionista is not her primary role, she doesn’t have to out-glamor anyone. I think Kate kind of grasps that like the Queen, she needs a reassuring and consistent look, because royal is supposed to be beyond style.

The costs, of course, are another story. I don’t know why we expect rich people not to live and dress like rich people, but somehow we do and somehow, they do.

      • liriel says:

I don’t love Kate style but I find it amusing in a good way that recently she chooses outfits that look almost exactly the same. She’s sending a message she’s not a fashionista. She must have read the comments yet she couldn’t care less. I think maternity suits her and reassured her to dress the way she likes. Constant Diana comparisons must have been exhausting.
And yep Meghan chose the wrong dress for this occasion. She looks great and has confidence but looks kind out of place.

  62. bonobochick says:

It looks navy to me: https://twitter.com/troubleshade/status/1016671540337881088

I like the outfit though I am meh on the shoe color. Duchess Meg looks great.

I smiled at her next to the Queen. I need them to take another girls trip somewhere.

  63. violet says:

I have mixed feelings about this outfit. On the one hand, I’m loving the silhouette, which I think is the most flattering I’ve seen on her yet. On the other – just as with the christening outfit, it seems oddly out of place. She does look like a wealthy widow at an afternoon cocktail party, and it so screams Audrey Hepburn that it becomes more imitation and less “homage” if you know what I mean. The nude heels look odd, too.

I can only guess, but I think Meghan is trying to carve out her individual identity by not looking like the rest. The problem is, she IS one of “the rest” now, and this is an event honoring the RAF and the Battle of Britain, and she comes off looking as if she doesn’t care about the character of the events instead.

I also think, and a poster upthread kind of referred to this, that Meghan is realizing that she isn’t going to be shaking things up or changing things and the Firm is reeling her in and making her aware that this is, indeed, going to be her life, and that her clothes are becoming her primary mode of individuality.

I love the outline, I think the dress looks adorable on her and does exactly the right things for her waist issue and figure, but it is totally the wrong look and wrong color for this event, and the pale shoes look weird.

Lastly, it’s another foreign luxury label – at an event on the balcony honoring the RAF.

    • homeslice says:

Yase! Dior! Girlfriend like to spend!

    • Jessica says:

The creative director of Dior is a working mother and feminist; that seems to be her theme.

      • violet says:

I doubt the British public either knows or cares who the CD of Dior is or about her identity as a feminist/working mother. What the British public will see is Another Expensive Bespoke Foreign Luxury Label At An Event Honoring The RAF. As others have pointed out on earlier discussions of this, It’s The Optics.

    • LizB says:

The heels aren’t nude, they’re cream. To see the difference, notice that Kate is wearing nude heels.

    • whattodonow says:

Yeah, the money spent on her clothes doesn’t go into the british fashion industry. She just doesn’t wear british designers and I think that’s a mistake.

  64. MrsBanjo says:

There are pictures of them on the balcony for the flyover where the navy is more obvious, and standing next to the Queen, the blues play off of each other really well. She looks fantastic and that silhouette is great on her.

  65. Aren says:

“Meghan looks like a bride who just saw her husband in his RAF uniform for the first time and now wants to make a baby with him (while he wears the uniform). ”
Kaiser, thanks for the laugh, I love you 🙂

  66. RedWeatherTiger says:

So practically, speaking, does someone hand Meghan a list of events, descriptions of same, the dress code, and perhaps photos of what people wore to this event in previous years? I’d imagine it would be difficult to keep up with knowing what was protocol, what level of sombre-ness was required, what colors were appropriate, and getting these outfits all ready for these apparently daily events. I know it’s her job now, but still…and without a stylist? I’m already exhausted on her behalf (and sort of get why Kate just picked a dress that worked and ordered it in 27 colors).

  67. ladida says:

I agree with Kaiser, it’s a beautiful dress and I do like boat neck because it’s always elegant, but it’s not occasion appropriate. Kate’s hat is really nice. In these pics I’m a little annoyed at the whole perfect stepford wife thing from both spouses.

  68. LizB says:

Just finished scrolling through all the pics on the DM. It’s clear that Meghan gets on great with Will and Kate. They were laughing together lots of times and interacting positively.

    • Enn says:

I saw those and thought the same. I hope they can be good friends! It’s so much easier when in laws get along well…I speak from experience.

    • magnoliarose says:

Kate isn’t a great actress so I tend to think they get along. She certainly looks a lot more relaxed so it could be they like each other. It would be nice if they did.

      • liriel says:

Yes, I believe so. Frankly Kate has done this so many times and recently almost all of her outfits looks the same. Everyone is complaining about it but to me it sends a message “I don’t care”. She looks happy being around kids, she purposefully and literally I think laughed off the rivalry with Meghan. They seem to enjoy each other’s company.

  69. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

    They all look great!

Please don’t meet with Drumpf, Queen Elizabeth & Royal Family…..please don’t meet with Drumpf….please! Do not 😫 🙏🏻 meet with Drumpf! He will break protocol a million times in the first minute; he will brag incessantly about their meeting for ages.

  70. Incognita says:

Meghan looks absolutely gorgeous right here. The fit of her bodice and flare of her skirt are great. I don’t know about y’all but I really like Meghan’s signature boatneck tops. I also like her fascinator too and it makes me almost forget about the unfortunate one she wore to that wedding a few weeks ago. She has been knocking it out of the park for her last few outings!

  71. Claire says:

I love Meghan’s whole look here. Very chic. However I don’t find her very pretty. Don’t get me wrong she’s somewhat attractive when done up but not pretty at all.

  72. artistsnow says:

To all those who are complaining about Meghans BLUSH, check out this photo. It is her SKIN COLOR!!!!!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5938453/Meghan-puts-confident-display-Buckingham-Palace-balcony.html

    • Moonpie says:

I don’t get that either? She looks just a sun tan darker than Queen Elisabeth and about the same shade as Kate??

    • Iknow says:

I’ve been equally confused about people saying she is blending correctly and every time I look at her, I see her skin color.

  73. Moonpie says:

A black dancing dress for a mid day event meeting military people?

Kate: bland and boring as usual but in contrast to Meghan’s dancing dress she looks appropriate.

  74. Sage says:

The blush Meghan and Kate use for contouring is too dark. They also need a better blending brush. I find their makeup is always so heavy and dark for daytime.

  75. Sage says:

  76. TeamAwesome says:

Anyone know where Prince Edward is? Not that I mind Sophie, but all the other kids are there, even Andrew.

Also: pics from Ireland are in. More color!! Yay!!!

    • Lizabeth says:

Pretty sure I saw Edward at the service sitting next to Sophie but don’t see him on the balcony.

  77. Sparkly says:

I love the Queen’s look. Meghan looks nice, but I’m getting tired of all the boatnecks.

  78. Nikki says:

I don’t know why we are reviewing Meghan and Kate and Sophie; the QUEEN’s dress was the absolute winner!! I want that dress in my size…She is so adorable, with her bright colors!!

  79. hogtowngooner says:

    Meghan looks amazing.

  80. YankLynn says:

I read links to a couple of British papers and they are reporting Meg’s dress is navy blue Dior. There are other pictures where you see that better. I think she looks absolutely stunning and I’m a fan of the dress and the hat. I don’t know that I’d have worn nude pumps but whatever. Nude pumps appear to be a go-to for a lot of public figures. She looks great on the balcony shot also, where her look is darker, but not clashing with the Queen and Kate. There were others dressed in dark colors at the event — Princess Anne was in brown with GLOVES on. There were others in navy so its not a pastel-only event clearly.

Speaking of dark colors in spring — I actually was kind of surprised how much navy I saw among female guests at Meghan and Harry’s wedding. Navy isn’t really a “spring wedding” color to me but obviously others who are more fashionable than I am really do pull out these darker colors for summer events.

I loved Meghan’s olive ensemble at the christening but it did occur to me it might have been ordered for her upcoming Fall events (the gloves made me think that) and she decided to wear it yesterday and grabbed all the accessories. Then, like I would, she had a “ummm, its July, I don’t need to wear gloves moment” and carried them. I know, I’m writing fan fiction now 😉

  81. BegoneOrangeCheeto says:

I love this outfit on her. Absolutely stunning. Meghan looks fabulous. My only nitpick here is that it looks more fitting for a cocktail/evening event than an outdoor event. It’s almost “too” formal, if that makes sense. Very Audrey Hepburn like, though, and, personally, I love the flared skirt. A lighter color might have been better for the day.

(Side note: Meg’s outfit for getting off the plane in Dublin is PERFECT. I want it for myself – but, alas, Givenchy.)

Kate’s outfit is very Kate. Nothing too bold and I think it’s a bit blah. But I found it more suitable for a day event like this. I really would love to see her in bolder colors – but she likes to play it safe and I get that. It’s probably her comfort zone.

Sophie always dresses so nicely. I love the Countess.

    • YankLynn says:

Begone – I see what you and others are saying about the dress being not typical for outside, day time event. But the royals wear all kinds of stuff in the day, and outside, that us mere mortals never do. Kate has massive diamond drop down earrings on which amongst my crowd is a night time formal look. Not for standing around outside in the sun. Princess Anne is wearing brown gloves. Do I know anyone who’s wearing gloves outdoors in July, no. Or hats with feathers either. I don’t think Meghan looks any more out of place than they do really. I will admit there have been times I thought Kate was totally out of sync at an event. I remember a lace cocktail dress she wore at a day time event where the female foreign officials were in business suits. So that’s an example of something I found very jarring vs I don’t see that kind of disconnect with Meghan and the others at the event today. Especially in the balcony pictures — she looks dolled up as the others are.

      • magnoliarose says:

Good points. They are always somewhat overdressed.

      • BeGoneOrangeCheeto says:

Good point. Yes, they do normally overdress. This just strikes me as a more of an evening cocktail dress than for an outdoor ceremony like this. Nothing wrong with it at all. And Kate HAS done it too – I remember that lace cocktail dress and it was out of place there too. But to each their own. Royals be royaling. 🙂 It gives us good fashion gossip!

  82. Vava says:

    I love Meghan’s ensemble!

I like the pin that Kate is wearing, but for a bespoke garment, the designer didn’t do a very good job of tailoring on her coat dress. It pulls at the waist. That’s on the designer, not Kate. Not sure I’d buy multiples of this coat dress, either.

  83. liriel says:

“She does look like a wealthy widow at an afternoon cocktail party, and it so screams Audrey Hepburn that it becomes more imitation and less “homage” if you know what I mean.”
    And “disney villain”! this this.
I think she looks stunning. Surprisingly the fit of the dress and material looks better to me in black than navy. But she’s seriously like a gorgeous villain! I think if the boatneck will be her signature – I’m all for it frankly!
    But but..
has anyone noticed Harry looked PISSED recently when they do official walk? Meghan is clearly aware to beware of having a nice smile yet Harry looks angry to be there and isn’t hiding it.
    Anyone?

  84. liriel says:

btw, why no one commented that Meghan pushed Kate and William to the side on the balcony? It’s not the order. Kate was grilled here for “purposefully” blocking Meghan.

    • Guest says:

Oh please, there is no video anywhere showing her pushing. William is the one that told kate to move down. Nice try though 🤨

    • Sage says:

      Wtf…Meghan didn’t push kate or William. 😆

      • violet says:

I think liriel was being sarcastic, as people accused Kate of blocking Meghan at the Trooping the Colour when there was no evidence of any such thing. Shoe on other side of balcony, but no one accuses Meghan of deliberately sidelining the Cambridges.

Irony doesn’t travel well on the Internet.

      • liriel says:

Thank you, Violet! That’s exactly what I meant and referred to! 🙂

    • MrsBump says:

      Lol, indeed.
Meghan next to Queen =BFFs forever
Kate next to Queen = jealous of meghan and queen being BFFs, blocking meghan’s view, inconsiderate as it was Meghan’s first trooping, growing extra tall on purpose to dwarf Meghan, saying bitchy comments about Meghan..
Basically, according to some people here, Kate (mother of 3 and future queen of england)’s life revolves around Meghan.
In fact even the sun revolves around Meghan, such is her importance.

      • liriel says:

MrsBump, I totally agree. I don’t understand how here on celebitchy we can be so petty and over the top at the same time. It’s like war. I get that in sport but these women aren’t rivals for the same prize!

    • Skipper says:

      It was william

  85. KiddV says:

William and Kate look so much better in video than photos. They’re a good looking couple but most photos make them look all sorts of dorky.

    • liriel says:

I agree. Many people are like this. After all that’s why some people are models, they photograph well, camera loves them, they know and work all the angles and can even look better in pictures than in real life/camera.

  86. Cerys says:

I am in a bit of a minority in that I don’t like Meghan’s dress or hat. I’m not sure why but it just didn’t seem right.
Kate was her usual boring and bland self. If she has this McQueen coat in blue, why didn’t she wear it to the wedding rather than the cream/yellow one? It would have saved a lot of upstaging the bride comments.
The DM had a video clip of the so-called Fab 4 going into the church, Kate was smiling away at Harry but seemed to ignore Meghan. There didn’t seem to be much interaction between them on the balcony either but, in fairness, the media may not have published any pics where they were talking to each other.

  87. Flying fish says:

I love Meghan’s dress, color and style.
The darts around the breast are too high though.
    Sophie looks nice.
    Kate looks like Kate.

Meghan is wearing emilia wicksted. I guess that puts the “wearing wicksted is a slight to Meghan. Its offensive” narrative to bed.

Just saw the two sets of Ireland photos. Love the simple green pencil skirt and top and the shoes from the arrival, but not too impressed with the Wickstead dress. It’s perfectly pretty but again makes her look boxy in the middle. But her hair for the afternoon cocktail event looked so lovely, and do my eyes deceive me or has Meghan added some subtle highlights? I hope she keeps the side part, it’s so much more flattering.

DM managed to throw some shade at the morning’s Dior by calling it “achingly stylish”.

    • liriel says:

She looked great on arrival. For one minute my mind tricked me into thinking that maybe it was a bit too casual, after seeing all the officials. The wickstead dress is ugly, she looks a bit heavy which seemed kind of impossible. The square neck definitely didn’t help! Her proportions are off. I prefer her hair in a bun to be honest because finally with the side part she looks effortlessly chic. French style. I’d probably just tease her hair a bit so it doesn’t look too flat but it’s a classy look. With her her down she looks gorgeous but more like a Bachelorette contestant if it makes any sense. Some people has this type of beauty that is perfect for Hollywood but needs to be tone down if more serious. She’s confident and has a tendency to look smug. It’s like the resting bitch face, you can’t help it. I’m nitpicking of course but that’s what we do at celebitchy. Btw, the dailymail pictures surprised me, her skin is far from glowy, it looks dry in some of the close ups and makes her look much older. Here’s hope to the rest of us. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5938909/Harry-Meghan-land-Dublin-embark-overseas-tour-married-couple.html#i-263f6ce2c7f25605.
Btw, does anyone know when she’s going to give a speech? The Royals must know by now we’re all waiting for it, she is obviously prepared, everyone will go wild.

I love her look. The fit is amazing on her. I think it is navy, but even so, I think a less dark color may have been better and maybe a less fancy hat could have made this look slightly less formal, but still…she looks amazing here.

On the topic of boatnecks, I had no idea they had a name, but that is my preferred and go-to neckline, as well. I didn’t even realize that until people started talking about boatnecks on this and I realized that I naturally gravitate toward them without thinking about it and have a closet full of them. I think they are flattering and comfortable.

    • liriel says:

I agree about the boatneck, it’s very flattering and classy. I love it myself so that might be a part of the reason.
What surprised me that I prefer the dress from the distance when it looks black. When I see it closely in navy it’s very flashy, literally, not muted. Something about it screams “prom”.
Agreed about the rest, she looks glamorous.

    • PodyPo says:

The problem with a boatneck is that I must wear a strapless bra, and those can be ill fitting. See photos on Wednesday of Meghan in Ireland in a taupe dress. Boatneck – check. Asymmetrical hem – check. Badly fitting bodice – check. Strapless bra visible in some photos. This is getting to be her signature look and will be outdated when the off shoulder trend ends.

      • liriel says:

Actually you do have a point. Especially when you’re a royal or want to be official. Thanks for feminine me!

  91. Helen Smith says:

I thought the dress was navy to match the fascinator but photographed black. The navy color would go with the RAF theme of the event since RAF uniforms are blue.

  92. Helen Smith says:

I love the fit and flare look. I have several dresses in that sillouette.

  93. Patty says:

I want the green dress she had on when she landed in Dublin!

  94. Busyann says:

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been able to comment much, but all of meghans looks were gorgeous and appropriate today. My favorite little nugget is a video from the flypast. Wills had to continuously nudge Kate out of the way to make room for Meghan next to HM and I swear, Kate did not look pleased.

    • Vogue says:

We must be seeing different things!
The video shows they were all hanging back waiting for the Queen to take her place on the balcony. Kate seemed uncertain where to go & William pointed out a spot where she should go. He was hardly nudging her to move continuously! Also there was nothing on Kate’s facial expression that suggested she wasn’t pleased, she was photographed smiling several times during the flypast.

      • Busyann says:

He tells her to move yes, but he starts nudging her back when she didn’t move over enough. I had to watch the video a few times to see it, but it’s pretty clear. He is moving her along, she stops, he nudges more and she eventually moves over further and makes a motion with her mouth.

      • liriel says:

I think we’re overthinking this. It’s a stressful occasion and when I had to pose with my family at wedding etc I was as lost as Kate and it wasn’t because I wanted to be front and center. If she was thinking where to stand it’s natural she isn’t smiling, she’s thinking where to go literally.

  95. Jane says:

I’m not fond of the deep navy dress. Kate and the Queen look very nice. The woman in white looks like what Diana might look today in her 50s. I think she resembles Diana a good deal.

  96. Katebush says:

Her last few clothing choice have shown a marked improvement. My only quibble would be that the colours are too dark. Especially yesterday’s olive green and today’s navy/black … I think they are more suited for autumn or winter.

I feel like Kate has developed her style and she’s sticking to it. Have to say I think it suits her.

    • PodyPo says:

Meghan seems to want to be a fashion icon and is wearing clothing one season ahead – now wearing fall colors.

  97. Reece says:

Saying this here since I clicked on the other thread first.
Gorgeous, from head to toe. Not one critique.

  98. zia says:

This makes her boobs look weird. Makes her look flat which is not a big deal of course… but… it just is funny since you can tell that she obviously wears cutlets a lot in her bras since she doesn’t usually look this flat chested. And the tailoring in that area is off. She should have had an installed bra. It looks ripply. too bad since it is a gorgeous look.

    • PodyPo says:

The ill fitting bodice is a hazard of off shoulder and boatneck looks which require a strapless bra.

  99. Littlefishmom says:

Meghan is perfection from head to toe.
