‘Mission Impossible: Fallout’ premieres in Paris with Tom Cruise & a bad fashion parade

'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' Premiere in Paris

Here are some photos from the Paris premiere of Mission Impossible: Fallout, what feels like the twelfth (??) outing for Tom Cruise as Ethan the Unkillable. I’m so old, I remember when this franchise jumped the shark in the second film! But they just keep doing these faux-reboots with Tom Cruise and various new and old characters. Simon Pegg is around now, and I guess Jeremy Renner is not around anymore? One film had the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman as the villain. Beyond that, I couldn’t tell you. I stopped watching Tom Cruise movies years ago.

Is it just me or does Tom really not do much speaking when he’s promoting films now? He promotes like a madman, obviously, and he flies to every city to make personal appearances and he does it all with a smile. He will say vague words about how hard he trained for such-and-such action sequence. And that’s about it. At some point, Scientology just stole his personality. In any case, Fallout is actually getting good reviews – you can read The Hollywood Reporter’s review compilation here.

I’m including photos of some of Tom’s costars too. Rebecca Ferguson looked amazing in her “F–k it, I’m just gonna wear a robe” Sonia Rykiel ensemble. Vanessa Kirby’s Prada gown is horrible. Michelle Monaghan’s Valentino is possibly the worst look though. Also: Henry Cavill was there in a sh-tty suit. The real star of this mess? Ms. Angela Bassett. She looks like “give me my paycheck for putting up with all of this white nonsense.”

“ One film had the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman as the villain. Beyonce that, I couldn’t tell you. “

This is a terrific typo. Please don’t fix it!

  2. Birdie says:

    Lol: Beyonce that.

    • Kaiser says:

lol, I fixed it, my bad!! I do that all the time, I’m always making Beyonce/Beyond typos. Beyonce is Beyond.

  3. BendyWindy says:

We see all the crappy MI movies out of nostalgia. This is the first one I’m actually looking forward to seeing. The trailer looks really good. It looks like Ethan the Unkillable may actually have some character growth/development.

I hate all the clothes except Tom’s.

    • Fishface says:

The farshun is very, very strange….Henry Cavill looks like what my dad used to call a ‘last-chance trendy” and no, that was no a compliment.

  4. Alix says:

Did Cavill’s suit shrink in the wash? Why does Bassett’s face look so frozen?

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

I think Bassett is just surprised to find herself surround by lesser mortal beings.

Cavill’s suit is actively rejecting him after his crappy interview from yesterday.

    • Lady D says:

Check out the wrinkles on the sleeves of Tom’s suit. Everything about the pants says too big. Not his best look.

      • Scarlett says:

I was just thinking Tom’s suit has more wrinkles and lines on it than Angela Bassett’s face. Haha.

  5. Sash says:

The new movie is getting fantastic reviews, I’m actually excited for it.

    • AG-UK says:

I am seeing it with my son. It’s usually entertaining and some times that’s all I want to be entertained, will see others for deep meaning.

      • hunter says:

You can find deep meaning through seeing entertaining movies with your son. 🙂

  6. ocjulia says:

    Beyonce that.

    Another Kaiser Easter egg!

  7. Loopy says:

Say what you will about him but the man doea not age. Was watching Jerry Maguire last night and he looks pretty much the same.

  8. Wood Dragon says:

Angela’s just passing through. She’s got way better places to be. Wakanda forever.

  9. Clare says:

I can’t believe people still want to make films with the loonbag Tom Cruise. If people are boycotting other abusers, should he not be cancelled, too?

Also Cavill always looks like he needs a poo!

    • Loopy says:

Does he have any abuse allegations against him?

      • Clare says:

Doesn’t he? Haven’t several people claimed that he uses essentially slave labour provided through the church of Scientology? Surely that counts as abuse?

    • Sparkly says:

He’s been cancelled for me for a long time.

    • perplexed says:

He doesn’t say much anymore. Maybe that helps — I don’t think people know of a lot of things going on with these celebrities unless these celebrities call attention to it with something strange that they’ve said. Someone has put a muzzle on him, and I guess it works.

    • magnoliarose says:

I haven’t seen a movie with him in it in nearly a decade. I am not kidding. I can’t think of the last thing I have seen him in. I can’t with him and his cult nonsense.

OMG I just checked his IMDb and the last movie I saw with him in it was Collateral in 2004. 15 years of a Tom Cruise free life. That is almost a half of my life. My husband says the last thing he watched was Minority Report. He says The Last Samurai made him laugh too hard he stopped watching.

Obviously, I won’t be seeing this one either. lol

  10. Kitty says:

OH my god the clothes! Henry cavils suit looks horrible

    • Darla says:

These are collectively the worst clothes I’ve ever seen. What a group. Too bad they didn’t have Melania in her yellow get up with them. That would have really iced this bad cake.

  11. PlaidSheets says:

I don’t understand Cavill’s suit. Why is it so, so bad? Is it double-breasted?

  12. LizB says:

Holy sheeet. What the hell happened here?

  13. Laura says:

    White nonsense?

    • BrutalEthyl says:

IKR? Anyway my white boobs are strapped in place and aren’t all wonky like Angela’s. Didn’t they give her a mirror to look at before she took to the red carpet?

    • Aoife says:

it’s totally fne to be racist (oops, prejudiced) against “white folks” now – aren’t you updated?

  14. HK9 says:

You weren’t kidding when you said bad fashion parade. My god this is bad!!

  15. Lenn says:

There is only one thought in my head when i see Tom Cruise: abandoned his daughter.

  16. PBAN says:

Looks like everyone decided to wear the worse fashion. I hate what Rebecca Ferguson is wearing. But I think she has such a understated beauty.

  17. GogoRoboto says:

When I read bad fashion parade in the headline, I didn’t expect it to be this BAD. Did they run out of suits big enough for Henry Cavill’s chest and biceps? Can Tom’s forehead get any smoother?

  18. minx says:

That color completely washes Vanessa out and her hair looks like she just got out of the shower.
    Michelle…just astoundingly bad dress.
    The men, forget it.

  19. Elisa says:

I saw the trailer at the movies and it’s full of crazy-absurd stunts. So I’m def going to see this!
    @Angela Bassett: ouch!

  20. ladida says:

Just wow, all these looks are horrible, except for Cruise who went with a classic suit. I must say, even though he’s completely nuts, he’s aging well.

  21. Yes Doubtful says:

I don’t think Tom ever had an appealing personality tbh. He’s a hard worker, but I’ve never found him to be particularly bright with or without his cult.

    • hunter says:

Word on the street is he’s not very smart. Same for Daniel Craig. Really made me reconsider what it takes to be a good actor/actress and I think it is empathy and the ability to replicate and emote convincingly. Intellectual intelligence is not necessarily required.

  22. Alainalee says:

Every post you make lately has something rude about white people?????

  23. em says:

I find the MI movies very entertaining (except the Philip Seymour Hoffman one) the stories are interesting and rely on people skills which are vaguely possible and not superheroes and alien gods which makes a nice change. Tom is fine in the roles, not brilliant but we know what to expect after 5 or 6 of them. Big screen is probably best for this so I will go to the movies to watch it. I really liked Rebecca Ferguson/spylady in he last one and think she would be perfect if they decided to make a female ’00’ for the Bond franchise.

  24. Katebush says:

Unpopular opinion: I like the MI films and I’m really looking forward to this one.

Have to say the fashion here is awful. Angela Bassett’s jumpsuit looks super tight and uncomfortable around the crotch area. It made me wince.

  25. SJhere says:

Eh, I’m not interested in the MI series at all.
Most of these clothes are really awful. Do they not have access to advisors? Tom looks OK in the suit but Henry? OMG. Who let him out of the house looking like that?
Really, Tom has a ton of money he could have offered to have the best designers custom make everyone red carpet items for the premiere, so they would at least look like A list film stars. That blue dress looks very, very K-Mart. Nope.

Btw, Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher in the films from Lee Childs books…..TC is intense but Lee Childs sold out for the money. Reacher is described as 6’5″ and 250 lbs of pure muscle, ex MP, very intelligent, a natural born warrior. TC is not any of those things. Still, I’ve Amazon Prime and its 98 with heat/humidity so, in my A/C I watched the TC/Reacher with Colby Smuthers, most of the film I kept thinking “oh, it’s the girl from HIMYMother.”
Can I get some agreement that TC is NOT Jack Reacher. Armmie Hammer at least has the height, dang it. Still bugs me! The books are terrific, btw.

    • Karen2 says:

…yes..he totally sold out…but many of the books are never gonna be made with Cruise…too r rated & that will save Reacher as a property…cant wait til November…18 months to write 2 days to read…poor Lee Child struggling to cope…

  26. Karen2 says:

…the 2nd movie with Anthony & directed by John Woo with the incredible face changing scenes was fantastic…also thats the movie that probably made Thandie Newton into a star even though her character was crap…this site just hates TC…end of…

  27. Skippy says:

I think it’s sad that the cast haven’t got anything very nice to wear to the Premier.
    Except Tom, who looks good.
I like the Mission Impossible films. I especially like the ones with Simon Pegg.
Now I rarely see anything about Tom in the news. He probably likes it that way.
He can just do a movie, do a little publicity tour, then off to the next film and lots of privacy. Not like some movie stars living in Silver Lake or Venice so they can be papped.

forget the clothes tom cruise is kissing Rebecca fergerous at every opportunity he gets she has boyfreind and new baby which means nothing to him he seems to do what he likes .i find his interviews very changeable . he was letting his innocent sweet mask slip as his back old self overstepping the mark . he can,t control himself . i never really brought he changed all sudden becasue he never did . he just gave the impression he did .
