Duchess Meghan wore Club Monaco to Harry’s friend’s weekend wedding

The wedding of Charlie Van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks at St. Mary the Virgin Church in Frensham

On Saturday, Charlie van Straubenzee married Daisy Jenks. The van Straubenzee family has been close to the Wales family for years, and William and Harry grew up with Charlie. Some people half-expected to see William and Kate at this wedding, but the Cambridges might still be in Mustique, God knows. So in their absence, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex attended the wedding, even though it was Meghan’s 37th birthday and chica probably just wished she was at the beach.

Meghan once again decided to go for a somewhat darker look for a church appearance. I get that she doesn’t want to wear a shade of yellow so pale that it reads as cream in nearly every photo, but I would like to convince her to try some lighter colors, especially for church appearances and especially in the dead of summer. This colorblock dress is by Club Monaco. Her shoes are Aquazzura, and her hat/fascinator is Philip Treacy. She looks lovely, and she also looks like she’s finding a balance between “chic duchess” and “I’m not pulling focus from the bride.”

As for the bride…her wedding gown looked like a million other wedding gowns, but it’s pretty enough. I don’t have a problem with anything here other than the fact that these two grown-ass people thought it would be “fun” or “cute” to do their church-exit on a tuk tuk, or a bicycle rickshaw. I guess we’re supposed to think it’s fun or twee or charming. I kind of think they look like a–holes, but what do I know?

As for the other stuff, like the fact that the British media is still reporting every little insult lodged at Meghan by her father and her deranged half-sister… The Sun did a dumb story on how of course Meghan could not and will not speak to her father, which DERP. And Tom Sykes at the Daily Beast had a story about how the Markles are not the first family to try to cash in on their royal connections, but something something Meghan should see her dad. No. She should not. Cut him off completely.

    Duplicate in error. Sorry

  2. My3cents says:

I really like her outfit, actually they both look really good.

    • Lilly says:

Yes, they all look lovely. I quite like the detail on the wedding dress. I think the groom driving the bride will age well and look good framed in their home for years. Best of luck and congrats. For any British folks, is the woman in the strapless green dress a celeb or otherwise in the UK? When I saw pics on other sites, she’s seems (to me) to be trying hard to get into the frame.

      • Tina says:

No idea. But wearing a strapless dress of any colour (for anyone but the bride, obviously) to a church wedding makes me clutch pearls I didn’t even know I had. Spaghetti straps? No problem. But something about strapless for a wedding guest in the day time makes me want to put a pashmina on her.

      • pinkrain says:

pearl-clutching, much? It’s a very hot summers day and many guests wore backless, lacy and strapless dresses.

      • Tina says:

Many guests? I haven’t seen any pictures of any guest in either a backless or a strapless dress other than Miss Thirsty there. (There’s nothing inappropriate about lace).

      • Lilly says:

Whilst I have no pearls near me to clutch, I agree @Tina about appropriate wedding guest attire and considering the bride. Especially a bride who is wearing a strapless gown. I always think of Kelly, from The Office (US version) and how she’d wear white to weddings for attention. I wrote something on my fb, during M&H’s wedding about not wearing low-cut dresses (when I saw someone in one) and a friend, who’s wedding I was attending the following week, told me not to wear a low-cut dress. Ha ha. She was so panicked that she didn’t read through what I wrote, but, of course, that wasn’t my plan.

    • Royalsparkle says:

      +1000
      Lovely!

  3. Maddy says:

Edit: it’s a dress not a skirt! Ha! Ignore my comments….

It is too dark for a summer wedding, but I do love the look. I’m a big fan of floaty skirts for wedding guest looks. It is easier to mix it up, and you can repeat with different tops so the amount you spent on the outfit for one day doesn’t feel wasted.

  4. Bee says:

I know Club Monaco is not Dior or Givenchy but her ensemble looks like it came from Forever21.
The top looks like it’s made of polyester, the belt looks tacky and the skirt, oh the skirt.

Come on Meghan, you can do better than this. I cheer her on when she hits it off the park. This is just disappointing.

    • girl_ninja says:

What Forever 21’s do you patronize? I’ve never seen a dress that lovely there.

    • Jan90067 says:

Nope 👎. For me it’s a fail, esp. in this “dark navy”. It’s AUGUST for cryin’ out loud! THIS a is the time to go lighter, especially for a daytime wedding. The color blocking on the skirt makes her look kind of hippy, and wide, and she is neither.

Hair, hat shoes, makeup gorgeous though. Best accessory: Harry 😊

A couple of papers tried to make it a big deal that a button came loose and, GASP!!, YOU COULD SEE A PIECE IF THE CAMISOLE UNDER!! Quick, pass the smelling salts! MY PEARLS! WHERE ARE MY PEARLS?? (Clutches and faints!).

      • liriel says:

Yup, the dress is too dark and looks somehow cheap. But wedding, dark colour and August doesn’t match up.

    • BooBooLaRue says:

Ugh the dress is cheap looking but those shades are marvelous! Can anyone ID them?

  5. Melania says:

I saw the video when onlookers were singing “Harry Birthday” to Meghan. It was really sweet

    • wisdomheaven says:

Do you have a link? I have not been able to find it!

    • MissM says:

Sorry but the onlookers were so rude. The cheering at shouting for Meghan at another person’s wedding was so inappropriate, I’m sure harry and Meghan were mortified. They had to leave before the bride and groom left the church so they wouldn’t attract all the attention from the crowd and gathered press. If you are going to camp outside of a random persons wedding to see two of the guests, at least have some respect for the couple getting married.

      • babypeanut says:

        +1

      • Flying fish says:

        So true.

      • pinkrain says:

If they hadn’t announced they were going, people wouldn’t have camped out, jus sayin… Just turn up at the wedding like all of the other guests without mentioning it weeks/months before. W&K have done that.

      • Lizabeth says:

@Pinkrain..Harry was best man. It’s probably hard to keep that hidden as lots of people would know. As to “announcing” they were going, I’m not sure this was ever announced by KP. It was reported in the media but it was also reported W&K would probably go since the groom was chosen as a godparent for one of their children and his brother for another.

  6. Jess says:

I loved loved the bride and the groom leaving like that. It was awfully cute!

As for Meghan, I like the dress and the shoes, I love the glasses, and I hate the belt. What I don’t like is that you can see either a lacy camisole or bra, I don’t know what it is, it looks kinda unpolished. But in general, this is one of my favorite looks on her. She looks really good

    • Becks1 says:

I think that was a mistake and a button came undone. In some pictures you see it (notably as they arrived) and then you don’t see it, so I think she fixed it.

      • Mumzy says:

Yes, her top button was undone when she arrived (separately from Harry). Her undergarment was visible at the arm opening and at the front center of her dress. Photos from when she was leaving, with Harry, she was buttoned. I was concerned for her when I saw that, knowing that there might be some fingers wagged…but it was clearly a little mistake and not indecent in any way.

  7. Mariposa says:

It’s pretty dark, but she’s probably erring on the side of ‘not upstaging the bride’ rather than trying to make a splash in something bright. I would opted for color in either the hat or the clutch though.

  8. Jennifer says:

The bicycle made for two is in reference to the Daisy, Daisy song. Same as the daisies on the dress, veil & bouquet. Cute and personal to the bride.

    • Esmom says:

I love the bride’s look and the bicycle was sweet.

I may be in the minority but I like Meghan in navy blue. That belt, though, ugh.

    • Lilly says:

That’s sweet. Thanks for the info.

    • Surely Wolfbeak says:

You’re right! Technically not a bicycle built for two, but there’s no way to pedal in that dress, so I’ll allow it.

  9. Jayna says:

Meg looked very nice. But in that heat, all of the midnight blue just looked hot to me, even though I know the material wasn’t. I wasn’t feeling it for the type of event. Other than that, it was nice, nothing special.

I thought the bride looked really lovely in her gown and veil. She looked so fresh and pretty for a wedding in the summer. I thought the bike was cute.

    • minx says:

I’m usually tired of strapless wedding gowns but this one is pretty and fits correctly for a small busted woman. The waist is fitted and cinched, the fabric is structured, so the top of the dress won’t start wandering southward. My daughter has the same figure and she had a strapless prom dress that was sort of a sheath style. The poor girl felt like she always wanted to pull the dress up so it wouldn’t start showing her boobs!

  10. Jane says:

I’m not feeling the dress at all. It just doesn’t suit her.

    • Eleonor says:

For me it was fine, until I saw the print.
Awful, the one she wore to the Polo match was far way better.

    • minx says:

It’s…okay. She, as always, looks pretty.

      • Bettyrose says:

IKR? She looks pretty in whatever. I just don’t ever really like aristo fashions which all seem like a throw back to the Mad Men era to me.

      • Lilly says:

So true @minx and @Bettyrose – I’ll see a photo and just think “she’s so beautiful.” The dress was good for trying to be low-key, but, of course, they’re going to draw attention. I’m sure the bride and groom were aware and still wanted them there.

    • liriel says:

Exactly this. It’s not for her especially in August.

  11. beatrixkiddo says:

I’d die before I’d wear bright colours, so it always amuses me that so many people on this sight keep whining about how she should dress brightly.

    • IlsaLund says:

The people on this site like to nitpick everything. The colors are too dark, not appropriate for the occasion, too expensive, yada, yada… Meghan should just keep doing Meghan.

      • Solidgolddancer says:

What’s wrong with wearing dark colors in the summer? Why is summer only reserved for bright colors and florals?? She looked appropriate and didn’t pull focus from the couple.

      • Boxy Lady says:

Thank you IlsaLund. Meghan gets criticized so much everywhere else (and often for more nefarious reasons) so it’s rather disheartening to see the levels of criticism here. She may have certain individual tastes in fashion but it’s not like she dresses like a bum. I’m sure that with all the rules she’s now living under, she still wants her individuality to shine through.

      • Himmiefan says:

Exactly. Meghan looked great, the bride looked great, and the bike and rickshaw were cute.

    • Jayna says:

There’s a whole lot of choices in between dark blue and wearing bright colors. It’s not just one or the other as you seem to imply. There’s plenty of choices in soft colors or even in the way you mix the dark colors. The dark blue on the skirt, with lighter on top might have been a good way to go. Maybe it’s just that she wears a lot of navy blue. So it’s become boring. Who knows? I like her in navy blue. She looked nice, but maybe for the day summer wedding, it’s just okay for me.

      • girl_ninja says:

Well then say its boring to you instead of saying its not suitable for a summer wedding. Sticking to dated fashion rules and using them as an excuse to diss Meghan’s style is so tired.

      • liriel says:

Actually when I saw other guests they were lighter/brighter and looked more fun and in vibe with the whole wedding. And nitpicking IS what we do, duh!

      • minx says:

Agree that it might have been better with one of the other skirt colors on top, the pink or the olive. That I could see. Yeah.

      • Becks1 says:

@minx maybe but remember when she wore olive last month and people ripped her apart for not dressing summer-y enough? and before that it was all criticism for wearing so many shades of pale peach/pink and couldn’t she wear some color!?!?!?

So, I get the idea that she is criticized no matter what – because she is. But this board overall is better about it than some sites like What Meghan Wore, where I swear all the commenters just hate anything she wears.

    • H says:

Thank you. I’d rather have bamboo shoved under my fingernails then wear yellow or any other bright color like that. I wear black, brown and navy blue. Every once in awhile I throw in a splash of dark violet.

    • Dietcokehead says:

I don’t wear color. My wardrobe is almost entirely black, with a few white pieces and one fabulous red winter coat. I feel my best in black, and maybe Meghan feels more comfortable in darker colors. I don’t like all the “she should do this or wear this” talk. She’s not a doll.

    • Erinn says:

I mean I hate wearing something like a bright yellow or orange or whatever. But there’s muted versions of colors that aren’t SO dark. There’s burgundy shades, jewel toned sapphires and plum and emerald green. There’s PLENTY of options that could be worn to a happy even like a wedding. Hell, medium gray would be less dark.

I just find it funny that you’re complaining about other people “whining” when in the same post you’re being so dramatic that you’d “rather dieee” than wear something bright.

      • Aud says:

        😂

      • Alix says:

People exaggerate online for (humorous) effect. Everyone calm down.

      • Dhalia says:

@Erinn. Touché lol. This look is too funeral chic for my liking and not appropriate for a summer wedding imo

      • minx says:

If she consulted with me 😂 I would tell her that she’s blessed with hair and skin that allows her to wear a whole range of colors. If she likes neutrals, gray or white would have looked better. I don’t think navy does a whole lot for her.

      • Lizabeth says:

@Minx…thank goodness she didn’t wear head to toe white or off-white! It would have been interesting though to see the media tie itself in knots criticizing white on Meghan even though less than 3 months ago many published stories claimed it was fine in the UK to wear white/off-white as a wedding guest (even though most UK wedding attire sites disagree.) There have also been many stories/comments published since the wedding saying Meghan needs to stop wearing pale colors including pink, shouldn’t have worn a shade of green in Ireland, shouldn’t have worn either a black suit or a LBD on the same trip, shouldn’t have worn olive green in the summer (even though that shade is currently a popular summer shade) can’t carry yellow….. I agree with you Meghan can successfully wear many colors but it seems not everyone w
agrees. So I hope she is wearing what she likes.

      • minx says:

lol I forgot for a second she was at a wedding, scratch the white. Personally I’ve liked most of the colors she has worn; not crazy about the dusty pink but I don’t really care for that color on anyone.

      • notasugarhere says:

If she’d worn anything light people would have complained she was drawing focus from the bride. This is simple, appropriate. Skirt reminds me of one Beatrice wore to Ascot a few years ago.

      • liriel says:

Yep, exactly, nitpicking is what we do!
I don’t think we’d get comments she’s drawing focus from the bride if she went a little lighter.
This look just isn’t summery at all. Other guests look summery, she looks like she doesn’t belong.

      • notasugarhere says:

She’s wearing sleeveless pleated chiffon. How is that not summery?

    • M.A.F. says:

I’m a 50 Shades of Black kind of person. I might thrown in other colors to go along with the black but bright colors? No thank you.

    • Becks says:

I don’t wear brights either. I stick to darks and neutrals, pretty much the same palette as Meghan’s. I see nothing wrong with wearing navy to a summer wedding. I just gravitate towards darks and neutrals and it’s OK.
It’s a matter of personal preference.
And BTW, I think she looks great!

    • Lilly says:

Ha ha. Me too. I try to buy brighter colors and I can’t. But, I do have lovely linen dresses in black and luckily no one is viewing a million photos of me in them.

      • Nikki says:

I love bright colors so much, I find myself looking at children’s fanciful clothes, wishing it came in my (adult) size!! My mother was a classic dresser who preferred well tailored dark clothes. I inadvertently drove her out of her gourd, and the clothes she gifted me with felt funereal immediately. Variety is the spice of life: be true to yourself! 😁

    • magnoliarose says:

FWIW I wear dark colors in the summer and pastels in the winter. I don’t really buy into color schemes or rules. I like navy a lot and think it looks good on a lot of different skin tones. I actually like that she wears clothes that can cross seasons. All that said it isn’t a favorite dress. I don’t hate it though and she looks lovely. The shoes are repeats. They always look good on her.

    • Tina says:

It’s a nice dress in my opinion and I’d wear it to a wedding in London or New York, but it looks a bit out of place in the country.

      • pinkrain says:

My god, you all must look so boring at weddings! You won’t see people wearing dark navy/black, with black accessories for Summer weddings in the UK. Pretty pastel, light colours are happy and appropriate for the occasion.

      • Lizabeth says:

Women wore dark colors to Harry and Meghan’s wedding–Chelsy D and Fergie for example. There’s also a women in a dark print ankle length dress in some of these pictures. Finally, a number of UK wedding attire sites say a LBD is fine as long as it’s not the sort of dress that one would wear to a funeral. I can’t imagine anyone seriously thinking Meghan’s dress looks like funeral-attire!

      • Tina says:

@pinkrain, that’s…my point? And @Lizabeth, it’s not inappropriate, it just looked a bit off. Chelsy’s dress was shorter and print makes anything summery. I am very fond of black or navy print dresses at formal events in the summer.

      • Becks1 says:

Kate has worn black to a summer wedding in England! I mean for pete’s sake people.

    • Totally Old says:

Same here. I would never wear bright summer colors. I’m a neutral girl all the way. Beige, grey, brown, tan, and black. I very seldom even wear white unless it’s a shirt. For me bright colors are not as classy and do not look nearly as elegant as dark, or neutral colors. I say good for Meagan – be yourself and stick with what you feel comfortable in.

  12. Flying fish says:

I am not loving this look on her, it seems off some how.
The hat is too far forward on her head, it’s just not working.
But, she looks happy and content.
HBD to the Duchess and Congratulations to the couple.

  13. Melania says:

I like the skirt with different colors

    • maxine ducamp says:

Apparently, it’s a dress? But it does feel that they are two different pieces that don’t go together, which is what I don’t like about it. Personally, I also am not fond of wearing dark on top and light colors on the bottom, it looks unbalanced. But I will admit that may be because I am “bottom heavy” and that accentuates it while the reverse helps disguise it. Obviously, that is not an issue for Meghan but it still looks odd to me.

  14. Becks1 says:

I love this look. I think a brighter color for the clutch would have been nice, but in general I love this dress. The colors in the skirt lighten the whole look and it looks chic and fun and comfortable. I didn’t see anyone super dressed up so I think Meghan’s outfit was appropriate in terms of level of fanciness.

  15. IlsaLund says:

Meghan and Harry looked very happy. I liked her look. Also, didn’t realize that Meghan and President Obama share a birthday on August 4.

    • Carrie says:

ANd the dear departed Queen Mother too (I only learned that the other day!) and maybe that’s why the Queen liked Meghan nearly on sight

  16. Who ARE These People? says:

She looked fine, she fit in, and it is so much fun going to weddings as a newlywed.

  17. Josie says:

I was unsurprised but also grossed out that the Express ran one of the “wardrobe malfunction” photos on the front page of their Sunday papers. Tabloids will tabloid I guess.

    • Swack says:

The Daily mail also had those pictures with a whole story on it. Didn’t read it but didn’t surprise me – more pearl clutching and anything to have against Meghan.

    • Harla says:

Geez oh pete, her button popped open and she fixed it but the papers continue to act like this is a event for which she should be sent to the tower!!! This level of scrutiny would make me crazy!!

    • indian says:

Isn’t it odd how they act so sanctimonious? Aren’t they the sleazes for even noticing, let alone capturing an embarrassing moment for someone. I despair of what’s happening to the world when people are ready to bully someone over something as simple as that…

  18. MrsBump says:

Her face is absolutely beautiful but that’s a given.
As for the outfit, i see where she was going with it but.. as it often does with Meghan, the execution falls a little short. She was right to go with something low key so as not to pull focus from the bride, and the silhouette really suits her and gives the illusion of a cinched waist. The colour is a little sad for a bright summer wedding and i feel like there are better choices on the high street for the same price point.
However it’s definitely a huge improvement over the expensive bedspread she wore to that other wedding and it’s good to see that she’s dialled back on the couture.
The bride looked stunning, she radiated happiness and the bicycle at the end was adorable.

  19. sunsetsnow81 says:

I love it. She looks like Meghan. She is finding herself again in this new world. She looks gorgeous!

  20. Melania says:

I propose Harry as the new James Bond. He’s so sexy and hot in those pics.

    • Nancy says:

Let’s take it slowly. Ha! At least he got out of the all occasion treaded blue suit. The Mrs. looked at him and said dude, really, again!? He has been coordinating much better with her as of late. Don’t think any James Bond wannabes have to worry just yet that Prince Ginge will take their jobs.

  21. Aang says:

I was afraid they were going have a servant driving the tuk tuk but I’m so relieved that’s not the case I have no issues with anything else.

    • corrine says:

Me too lol… they still look silly though 😉

    • Ange says:

Yeah same! I thought they might have actually used an Asian driver reading the story but scrolling down the photos and seeing they didn’t makes it such a non-issue.

  22. FloraPoste says:

The church this wedding took place at is in the village where I grew up and it’s where generations of my family have been christened/married/buried. It’s really lovely. Harry and Meghan visiting is just about the most exciting thing that’s ever happened in the village! Someone I know went down and saw H&M leaving the church – she looked beautiful and he’s much more handsome in the flesh, apparently! 🙂

    • Other Renee says:

Every time I see the word “village” in an English context, I think of Midsomer Murders, my current Netflix obsession, and wonder if life there is anything like it is portrayed on that show.

      • AG-UK says:

Probably not but depends on where the village is. You have some full of Londoners who want country life on the weekends. Personally not for me I’d be bored out of my mind. It was almost 90 here yesterday and today baby looks hot but I don’t fancy bright but something slightly more summery as probably will be 5 years before summer happens again.

    • BorderMollie says:

Aww, how nice, I love a good ‘sleepy’ English village!

  23. Millenial says:

I’ll be the jerk that bump watches her in this this outfit. It could be the poofiness of the shirt and skirt but her boobs look bigger and the skirt isn’t convincing me she’s *not* pregnant. Just hmmm.

    • Eldy says:

Count me as another jerk because I think the same. I think she also as a rounder face than before. Anyway, time will tell !

  24. Dazeem, Adele says:

I love Meg, but it’s official, she MUST hire a stylist/dresser. This would help w execution. It’s like the idea is fine, but something is always off—i can get past the wardrobe malfunction (it happens!) but the black slip showing through the pink portion of the skirt makes me crazy. I feel for her, this whole dressing as a royal thing has got to be overwhelming, but let’s be honest she needs the assistance.

    • Peg says:

Maybe Meghan knows her comfort level and dresses to please herself, which every woman should do.

    • Alix says:

Or perhaps just some time to figure it out herself. She’ll be a duchess for the rest of her life, maybe we should give her more than a couple of months to hit her fashion stride.

      • sushi says:

Judging by this site, whatever she wears will generate like and dislike, so just wears something she likes and comfortable.

    • pinkrain says:

Does Kate have an official stylist? Her looks are hit and miss also. Meghan is the same, I think she still has her BFF Jess as her stylist. I don’t understand how they can spend thousands upon thousands on new outfits every week, but not hire a professional stylist?!

      • Becks1 says:

No – Kate uses her hairdresser as her stylist? or her PA was her stylist? I think its unofficially Natasha Archer. I think Kate needs a real stylist as well.

  25. Lizabeth says:

In the picture before the one of the “Daisy Daisy” bridal couple the woman in front of Meghan, is wearing a dark print. I think Meghan’s colors look fine and don’t look out of place. After all, the men are wearing dark suits! And women did wear dark navy to H&M’s wedding. I don’t really like Meghan’s belt but big deal. I wonder if so many people weren’t staring at her tummy on “bump watch” if she feel less of a need to wear belted styles so often?

I think the bridal couple’s mode of transport was fine. When it comes down to it, alot of methods bridal couples choose– carriages, rented fancy sports cars, chauffeur-driven limos–are kind of silly and over the top. At least there’s the Daisy song connection here.

  26. Digital Unicorn says:

I liked the outfit but not sure about the brides dress – had waaay too many daisy flowers sewn on at the top and then all over the veil, a bit too much for my tastes.

Apparently Megs is going to meet Daddy Dearest in LA at some point – this was leaked by the Sussex camp so it seems like a power play from the Palace to me. They are putting down boundaries and taking control of the meeting and press narrative – Daddy Dearest and Scammy are probably discussing an exclusive interview with the tabs right now to see who will pay the most for Daddy to blab when the dates of the ‘secret’ meeting are. He’s being tested/setup, the min he blabs to the press about it, its all off and all the haters who keep telling her to talk to him can shut up. It would explain why father of the century has been quiet recently.

It was all over the DM last night.

    • minx says:

Ooh, interesting. Hope he blabs and then she can be done with him.

    • aquarius64 says:

If there were to be a meeting with Meghan and dad we wouldn’t know about this until after the fact. This leak is not from KP or any of the Sussexes’ friends; it’s from Evil Papa Smurf or Thing 1 or Thing 2. It’s a test to see if one of them leaks. If Bad Dad really wanted to patch things up he would have told his demon spawn from his first marriage not to talk, or not tell them at all. Too many details are out. This is strike three.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

I dunno – this could be the palace leaking before the vile family members do, thus diminishing the value of the news. The only thing they now have to sell is the dates and if the dates are leaked then its all off. Then again Markle could surprise us and keep his trap shut and then bail on the meeting at the last min – a repeat of the wedding fiasco.

If the meeting does happen, he’ll arrange pap shots in LA in the days leading up to it and then drive back to Mexico the day before, conveniently having a ‘heart attack’ on the day of their meeting in LA while being well enough to give TMZ a blow by blow account all the while screaming about ‘HEART ATTACK, I’M GOING TO DIE, IF YOU DON’T COME TO MEXICO AND LET ME RECORD OUR CONVERSATION SO I CAN SELL IT TO THE PRESS THEN I’M GOING TO DIE’.

The palace will control access – he will have to go to her and we know he won’t like that. If he’s not going to be able to control Meghan or the access then the above will happen. He did it the week of her wedding and he will do it again given the opportunity – this time I hope the press don’t hold back.

It doesn’t matter what she does he will find a way to abuse her.

    • magnoliarose says:

I doubt it. I think this is Markle Madness making up stuff to squeeze some more time out of their money grab. I would be surprised if she ever spoke to any of them again. Remember she has had periods of estrangement from them before when there wasn’t as much incentive to do so. She just got fed up with them. Now she has mountains of reasons not to speak to them ever again. She can comfortably and without guilt go complete No Contact and never look back. I think they passed the final straw moment long ago. We know Sam and co. have and now her grifter father has followed suit.
She has a relationship to protect and future children to think about.
Meghan has a strong will. She must have to come from whence she came to where she is now. This means very thick skin, resilience and an ability to overcome adversity.

  27. Ramona Q. says:

The sweetheart neckline is SO PLAYED. I think they are pushed by the wedding dress makers because they are easiest to tailor … ? I do despise them though.

  28. Peg says:

One of the ladies Meghan was talking to, outside the church was Prince Harry’s cousin, that was married a few weeks ago.

  29. Mego says:

Cute not overly expensive outfit, nice to see her looking happy and relaxed. Harry looks great too.

Meghan don’t make contact with your asshole relatives!!! They are jealous, cruel and narcissistic and not worthy of you. Ignore anyone who tells you otherwise.

  30. KiddV says:

I like the dress. I think it looks appropriate and nice. The belt is an odd choice, very dated. It does need a belt, but not that one.

I love the bride’s dress. The daisies all over are a bit twee, yet I love them. I would have preferred a non-strapless, but the strapless looks good on her.

  31. MellyMel says:

Very cute! Also as someone who wears black and other neutrals all year long, Meg wearing dark colors doesn’t bother me at all. Some if us just don’t like brights…even in the summertime.

  32. homeslice says:

Wow, I don’t like a single thing about this. Black shoes and hat, navy dress, the belt…OY.

    • notasugarhere says:

From what I can tell the dress is black with olive, light pink, and white blocks.

  33. Sparkly says:

Can’t stand the dress. I’m also really glad to see that no servants were hired for the pulling of the rickshaw.

  34. TheOriginalMia says:

I liked her dress. I’ve worn dark colors to summer weddings so I can’t bash her for it. I thought it was very sweet how the crowd sang Happy Birthday to her.

    • Nancy says:

I’ve wore a black evening dress to a September wedding reception last year. I looked good, wasn’t pregnant! I did, however, wear a different dress to the wedding. Color rules don’t seem to matter to me, it’s more the fabric of the dress. When it’s 90 plus degrees out there, looking at someone in dark clothing makes you sweat! Meghan looks the same to me all the time. Pretty, ready for the picture and happy!

  35. Boxy Lady says:

I seem to be the only one who likes the belt. It’s different and interesting. As for the navy blue, she is well coordinated with her husband’s outfit and it doesn’t pull focus from the bride. What is wrong with that?

    • Agenbiter says:

Yes. And there are many comments that her dark dress is inappropriate for summer weather, but what about the outfits the men are wearing …?

      • Line says:

Are you for real? Surely you know there’s something called dress code?

      • passerby says:

Did she break this so called dress code you speak of?

      • pinkrain says:

Umm, you do realise that men usually wear dark suits for weddings? People on this site are weird. clearly, know nothing about clothes, yet judge women so harshly! Laughable..

      • Lizabeth says:

Gee, I guess Prince Charles didn’t get the memo about what men wear to weddings. George Clooney either. I think the point is that the dark suits worn by the men here do not convey the air of a funeral. They do not look “depressing” or “sad” even though most of these same suits could be worn to a funeral. So why are we saying women must wear bright colors to all summer weddings or risk breaking a dress code that doesn’t really exist?

    • magnoliarose says:

I like the belt too. So you aren’t alone. I like unexpected things like that. I imagine it with all sorts of outfits.

    • Line says:

Your argument is the wirdest thing I ever heard… And for some one speaking of “so called” dress code; it is an actual dress code stated in the invitation. And yes I think Meghan’s dress is appropriate because it’s navy (rather than black) and it has light colour blocks. It would have been even better with light aceccoirs (hat, clutch, shoes).

    • Royalsparkle says:

      +100

Seem to be the wedding colours as well.

  36. Citresse says:

I thought the a-hole reference is a bit harsh to describe the bicycle exit of bride and groom from church. MM looked nice…I enjoyed the Neapolitan look of the skirt. The bride’s dress was quite cute and appropriate given the heatwave in UK. Good luck and best wishes to the bride and groom and I hope MM has a lovely day with Harry celebrating her birthday in private today…I have a feeling August may be conception month for polo baby…we’ll see.

  37. Peg says:

They’re going to places with the Ziki virus in October.

  38. InquisitiveNewt says:

Was stupid enough to read the Wail’s BTL comments re her dress. Apparently it’s because dark colours lessen the effect of her natural pigmentation. Never again, cannot stand this level of racism. I’m sure that lot would have been featured on certain American Deep South postcards before the late 1920s.
-Am I alone in thinking it a rumour that she’s supposed to be visiting the Narcissist In Chief, and thus vindicate him, Samantha et al? What could she gain from restoring contact with those who have abused, manipulated and misrepresented her?

    • magnoliarose says:

No, I think it is the Markle Grifters throwing out rumors too. I don’t believe it either.

  39. starryfish29 says:

I like the skirt of Meghan’s dress, though I wish the top was a little more streamlined; it’s something I would totally wear. The bride looks lovely, but she is carrying quite possibly the worst bridal bouquet that I’ve ever seen, what a scraggly mess.

  40. Dazed and confused says:

Did anyone see Piers Morgan on “The Talk” last week? He was going on and on about how Meghan should really contact her father, they used to be close, blah blah blah. I found myself yelling at the TV. Isn’t Piers Morgan’s morning one of TM’s favorite places to throw his daughter under the bus? Gross.

  41. Honey says:

It would have been nice to see her in some jewel tones this summer. A nice linen paint suit would have been great too.

  42. liriel says:

The bride looks like a little girl (might be cute to some, annoying to others), Meghan on the other hand gives off a sad vibe to me. She looks ok but her best looks were in Ireland and now she’s back to being ok-ish but nothing more. One thing – her hair and make up always works, she’s pretty. Oh those beautiful people. The dress doesn’t accentuate her beauty at all.

  43. Peg says:

What will the protocol pearl clutchers say, Mike Tindall was seen grabbing his wife (Queen’s granddaughter) rear end and he had the nerve to kiss her in public, i blame Meghan for this, setting a bad example for the Royals😳.

    • Royal Suitor says:

My eyes also goggled at seeing Autumn and Zara’s knees. Does the lack of a title mean that shorts and short skirts are fair game? I’m all for it! It’s been an age since we’ve seen Meghan’s knee cap. I’m ready to send out a search party. 😂

      • Peg says:

Now you’re complaining 😳 along with her ‘father’ why it should matter to him what a woman 37 shows.
Autumn and Zara are going with, if you have knees flaunt them.

      • pinkrain says:

Pearl clutchers are always going on about Kate’s legs and her so called short skirts, so they would do the same with Meghan lmao.

    • Lizabeth says:

Zara apparently grabbed Mike’s derriere first. Shocking!

  44. Hmm says:

Any one see Harry’s shoes? One shoe had a deep hole in it, head on over to skippy’s Tumblr if you dont believe me. Poor prince, the clothing budget is not for him, where is the love for her husband?

    • Olive says:

“skippy’s Tumblr”? going to need more info to find these photos than that… who is skippy?

      • pinkrain says:

Eh, Harry’s usually a scruffy mess… Look at his past pictures, unpolished shoes, unironed shirts and trousers! He’s stepped it up since being with Meghan, tho.

  45. Miss Margo says:

Gross, they look like losers on that bike.

    • pinkrain says:

They look happy and in love. You should try it sometime.

    • Ty says:

Yeah well better a hideos bike than a overpriced jaguar cabrio bought with other people’s money or just grifted using noble status.

  46. Pamm says:

“Will the Duchess of Sussex meet her father in the US in a couple of weeks time? No comment from Kensington Palace. There are signs though that palace officials believe there is a need to try to rebuild bridges.” From Richard Palmer’s Twitter page. There you go.

  47. april says:

Love Meghan’s dress and also the bride’s. The bride’s veil is very beautiful. The men look quite dapper too. Everyone looks joyful and happy and that counts the most.

  48. Valiantly Varnished says:

She looks great. It’s a pretty dress. And when she was wearing lighter colors everyone complained about her wearing too many pastels. She can’t win. I think she wears colors she likes and that’s fine by me.

  49. Espani says:

It’s fine but kind of dull for a wedding, the dress looks corporate and i dislike the black accessories (particularly with a navy/multi color dress). Maybe she’s playing it safe after all the criticizm of her other outfits (and yes I’m aware that I’m contributing to that). I’m starting to get why Kate sticks to a dull uniform for these things and suspect Meghan will do the same. It’s a shame because I want to see her in fabulous outfits!

    • Lizabeth says:

I’m really curious @Espani. What makes Meghan’s dress “corporate” to you? In my part of the world (Eastern US), corporate dressing unfortunately means having to wear mostly skirt suits. Sometimes dresses are ok–usually sheath-types or coatdresses (the kind of coatdress that is an actual dress, not a coat worn over another dress)– but definitely not sleeveless dresses of pleated chiffon-type fabric.

      • Espani says:

@Lizabeth, I meant corporate as in it looks like office wear to me. I work in a government job so I don’t have to stick to skirts and blazers, but I still want to look smart. Meghan’s dark coloured shirt dress with a bit of interest in the skirt is exactly the type of outfit I’d wear to work in summer (except I avoid polyester which makes this dress a no). She looks fine, it’s just not to my personal taste for summer wedding wear. I think the green Self Portrait dress she wore a few months ago would’ve been perfect here.

  50. sunsetsnow81 says:

She doesn’t need to! She outranks everybody there!

  51. Corporate in the sense that it looks like a contraption? The dress draws attention in the puzzle of the skirt. Was this all in a cemetery ffs??

  52. Katebush says:

I don’t like it it’s boring and seems like something an older person would wear. Also what’s with all the dark clothes?

  53. Peg says:

Vonnie is claiming Meghan is not visiting her abusive father.
So no recording of security wrestling with Thomas to take off the recording device.

  54. Heidi says:

The bridal couple look cute and so young! Meghan and Harry look like they could be the parents of either one. It’s their wedding so if they wanted to be silly with their transportation that’s cool.

    • pinkrain says:

This comment made me laugh!! Harry does look older for his age, but Meghan looks way younger than 37.

  55. MeghanNotMarkle says:

It’s…OK. I’m just wondering if she’s going to wear pastels and bright colors in the winter. All of her summer stuff has been either really dark or blerghy neutral. I’d honestly be able to get behind this more if she hadn’t worn a black slip. It detracts from the whole look.

The bride was beautiful but yeah, in these photos she does give off a bit of an asshole vibe. Hopefully it’s just bad timing with these shots.

  56. The Voice says:

It’s an interesting looking dress. She looks fine but I think she would’ve looked better in a looser and lighter color dress. Btw, she looks pregnant! If so, I’m excited for them!

  57. Neha Shah says:

The dress is so pretty. So is she!

  58. Lala11_7 says:

I adore EVERYTHING about Meghan…the very THOUGHT of her…her lineage (which, on her Mama’s side…is darn near a reflection of EVERYBODY I know!)…I believe she’s an intrinsically GOOD human being…and my Scorpion intuition is NEVA wrong about that…

BUT BABEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DEM CLOTHES SINCE SHE GOT MARRIED!!!!!!!!!! Correction…after the wedding party…because her wedding dress/reception dress…was SUPERB!

Nope…NAW…HECKY NO! HELL TO THA NO!!!! Just…No!!!!

I’ma need her girl Jessica Mulroney to step in…cause at this point…it’s a FASHION EMERGENCY!

    • Ravine says:

Lala, you should write her a letter! With magazine clippings! I’m being serious… OK, so she probably would never see it, but a random palace aide would get a kick out of it. And you’d get a nice card back in the mail with a nifty London postmark. My coworker does it regularly and collects them. 🙂

  59. YankLynn says:

Women wore navy blue to Meghan & Harry’s wedding, but its super grim if she does the same at someone else’s ? examples: Chelsea Davy, Idris Elba’s gf/wife – (in what was for me the fugliest guest dress, sporty knit navy and red and green and what all), Vic Beckham … well you get my point.

    • Tina says:

To be fair, Victoria Beckham was (rightly) criticised for her outfit at Meghan and Harry’s wedding. It was much more severe than Chelsy’s short flirty number or Idris Elba’s gf’s monstrosity, which was hideous but festive.

    • MeghanNotMarkle says:

You must not have been here for the piles of criticism heaped on those ladies for wearing dark colors to the wedding.

  60. ladida says:

The dress is fine, I think it’s a wise choice to step back from bespoke pieces that cost $5K plus. It’s still an expensive outfit.

  61. violet says:

I hate to be a party pooper (and I’m also late to the party on this one) but I hate this outfit. I think the hat’s too formal for the breezy look, the colors are dull, the big belt doesn’t do her any more favors than those belts ever do her, it all just doesn’t hang together for me. And it wasn’t just the open top button, you could see the foundation garment through the armholes. The latter is the kind of thing that causes me to put tank tops down in Ann Taylor Loft (whose tank tops too often have armholes with this problem). This is a simple thing to know before you buy and wear, just as she should have seen the outlines of the strapless bra in that grey dress she wore in Dublin. Those missteps are just not necessary at her level.

I don’t know, I’m feeling very frustrated at how Meghan puts things together. So pretty and vivacious, her face is so expressive (I love faces that are expressive rather than just coldly beautiful), I feel that simpler clothes would frame that up, it’s too much about the clothes and not enough about her.

The whole wardrobe thing should be working better than this. Sorry, but it is frustrating!

  62. Ravine says:

I read the Sykes article and what I took away from it was less “Meghan should talk to her dad” and more “the royal family needs to get proactive and quit burying its head in the sand when it comes to people cashing in on royal connections.” Paul Burrell is quoted at at the end saying M&H should intervene personally but I think Sykes is past that point; he just thinks the RF’s people messed up and could have prevented things getting this bad.

I think Thomas and Samantha are terrible people, but the broader question of how the RF should handle the relatives of new members is interesting. Someone like Doria, for example, went from being anonymous to being watched on live TV by millions of people. It was her choice, of course (she was also present at H&M’s first public appearance together, so it’s not like she’s camera-shy), but still, how does that affect her life, her career, her relationships? It’s one thing to be, say, Chris Hemsworth’s mom or something — no one will recognize you at the grocery store — but Doria Ragland is arguably a little bit famous now.
