Constance Wu wears Ralph & Russo to ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ premiere

Premiere Crazy Rich Asians

Here are some photos from last night’s big Hollywood premiere of Crazy Rich Asians, which will hopefully be one of the big hits of the summer. I was pleased to see all of the interest in the Hollywood Reporter cover story, and it genuinely feels like there’s wall-to-wall positive buzz, both for the film itself and what the film MEANS. Constance Wu wore Ralph and Russo and more than 100 carats of diamonds from Lorraine Schwartz. Henry Golding looks Peak Movie Star in this Tom Ford tuxedo. They also look adorable together, just in general.

Awkwafina wore a long-sleeved ball gown by Reem Acra in a weird shade of beige-blush.

Gemma Chan’s Oscar de la Renta look was one of my favorites – she looks stunning, and this is a perfect premiere dress.

Michelle Yeoh – LEGEND – wore an Armani Privé gown, but she had one crazy accessory: a Richard Mille watch with a “flower that blossoms” worth $1.8 million. Love everything except her hair.

So lovely!! I would never have recognised Constance Wu with those red lips! I’m so used to seeing her as her “Fresh Off the Boat” character. She, Gemma Chan, and Michelle Yeoh (minus hairstyle lol) for the wins.

I’ll have to check this one out! My current favorite show (I’m Canadian) is Kim’s Convenience on the CBC, which is a comedy about a Korean Canadian family in Toronto. It’s fantastic and relate-able and it’s on netflix if people are interested in watching it! The star, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, has talked about the importance of a show like Kim’s alot.

The show also introduced the world to the tall drink of beautiful that is Simu Liu (look him up!

omg, I just started watching kim’s convenience on netflix and it is so fricking funny!! I am really enjoying it and highly recommend. Yes, the son of the Kim family is extremely good looking!

    • Spark says:

I love Kim’s too! Always fun to see the cast out and aboot (I live downtown T.O.). If you ever get the opportunity, watch the original play.

I’m so jealous you see them out and about! I’m in Ottawa, we see no one fun..just slimy politicians!

We just started watching Kim’s Convenience on Netflix and love it. I’ve been recommending it to all my friends.

Kim’s convenience is great. My Tuesday evenings are spent watching reruns of Kim’s and Schitt’s creek.
Can’t wait for a new season.

    • Erinn says:

      YES!
I followed @angryappa on instagram, too. Kim’s is one of my favorite shows, period. There are a lot of hit and miss Canadian shows for me (also Canadian) – but I love Kim’s. Simu Liu is absolutely gorgeous. I have such a tv crush on him.

  3. Esmom says:

Everyone looks lovely and Chan’s is also my favorite look, perfection from head to toe. Yeoh is a close second but that hair is really bizarre.

Henry Golding is my new celeb crush. Swoon, lol.

      Yes to everything you said!

Gemma is statuesque and carries herself in a very elegant way. There’s a silent confidence. Plus, she does a great job in Crazy Rich Asians and the show Humans (give it a watch!). 🙂

  4. Sarah says:

I might be in love with Gemma Chan.

  5. Becks1 says:

I think they all look great. Chan’s dress is my favorite.

  6. Tania says:

I’m going to see this tonight with my Mom! I’ve never been more excited for a Wednesday!

  7. Alexandria says:

Oh I was hoping you would cover some of the Singaporean actors in the movie heh. I did not recognise Victoria Loke but seems like she is Singaporean, so yay, it’s something heh.

    • Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

The Crazy Rich Asians instagram story last night had good coverage of them, I think!

  8. RG says:

As an Asian-American, I can’t help but feel emotional seeing people that look like me (ok, not exactly like me since they are all too beautiful for words, but our features are similar!) on a big Hollywood red carpet?!? I hope and pray that this movie is a success because it’s the only way POC, and our stories, can continue to be told.

    • Original T.C. says:

Yep, i’m going to watch. It’s always refreshing to see an Asian male as the desired leading man. They definitely have my money!

  9. Ninks says:

They all look really great. I could stare at Gemma Chan’s face for hours, she’s gorgeous.

  10. Josephine says:

Henry Golding – wow. Super handsome and I love the slightly offbeat tux. He’s really keeping up with his gorgeous costars. They all look like they’re on the same page.

  11. aang says:

Love Constance Wu on Fresh Off the Boat. Beautiful and funny.

  12. noodle says:

Gemma already channeling the coolness that is Astrid. I’m here for it

  13. Prettykrazee says:

I love Gemma Chan! Her look is Beautiful from head to toe. Constance Wu not so much. She is too petite for that dress. I understand that sometimes when you borrow a dress drastic alterations can’t be made. But this dress needed to be hemmed badly. It looks like it’s drowning her. It’s a shame bc her styling is perfection.

  14. Murphy says:

Super psyched for this movie, can’t wait to see it!

  15. Starryfish29 says:

This is the best looking red carpet since the Black Panther premiere.

  16. Who ARE These People? says:

What a gorgeous pairing on the red carpet.

  17. Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

They’re amazing! Thanks for covering this again, Kaiser. Constance keeps it real, and I love that. Awkwafina is hilarious, along with Ken Jeong, Nico Santos, and Jimmy Yang. Michelle “the Legend” Yeoh, whew…so elegante!

And in true RICH fashion, they rolled up in expensive cars to the premiere, haha.

I must say, their PR team has done a wonderful job.

Please watch the movie and tell a friend!

  18. Jordan says:

This movie looks so good! I’m excited for it

  19. lucy2 says:

Everyone looks great. I don’t love the yellow dress or the sleeve things on Constance’s, but overall, a great red carpet group.

  20. Eliza says:

I love Constance Wu. It tripled when I saw all the pictures with her bunny. I really want to see the film!!
