Carrie Underwood discussed her tour for a minute & a half, then announced pregnancy

Earlier today Hecate covered the fact that Carrie Underwood said, in a recent interview, that she’s “35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family.” That statement was controversial in that many people interpreted it as Carrie saying that her window of opportunity for having children had passed. However others thought that Carrie was simply saying that she couldn’t have as many children as she’d hoped for. Carrie and her husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, welcomed son Isaiah three years ago.

Well Carrie is pregnant again. She made the announcement in a video about her tour, but it’s not until one and a half minutes into this video. For some reason that feels like an eternity. Her tour is in May of next year, which she explains is to give her time for the new baby. In case you don’t feel like listening to her, she says this at around 1:25 in:

You might be wondering or asking ‘Carrie, why is your tour starting in May?’ Well… [camera pans out to the word “Baby” written in balloons behind her]

Mike and Isaiah and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding another little fish to our pond. This has just been a dream come true with album and baby news and all that stuff. We’re just so excited and so glad that you guys can share in this with us and be a part of this with us. Love you guys and we’ll see you on the road in 2019. Yeah, have a great day. [Tour schedule comes on screen]

Why did she lead with her tour news first, that was weird right? A minute and a half is a long time to get to the point. Open with the baby news and then say you’re going on tour starting in May of 2019. This could have been a weird executive decision, like her people told her it was time to announce her tour and they considered the pregnancy secondary, but that’s short sighted. Also, the caption reads like they hired a sh-tty marketing consultant who wanted to make unique hashtags trend.

Congratulations to Carrie and Mike though and best wishes on the new arrival.

As of this publication, this is Mike Fisher’s last Instagram post, an endorsement of conservative Republican Bill Lee for governor of Tennessee. Bill has said thatWe need to do everything possible to stop Tennessee having sanctuary cities, and we’ll do that if I’m governor.” I don’t get how people can call themselves Christian and be so cold-hearted against immigrants and asylum seekers.

Here’s Carrie at the Radio Disney Music Awards in June. Her extensions are way too long

Hold up, Fisher has U.S. citizenship. I did not know that. Huh.

Oh yeah, he was and always will be garbage. Just because a person is nice to your face does not mean that they are not garbage.

    • KBB says:

I just read the Caitlyn post where she says something about how Republican politicians have never been mean to her face, and your comment here is exactly what I was thinking. Like it’s okay for someone to stab you in the back as long as they smile to your face. Bizarre.

People like that aren’t Christians. They’re just not. No one who reads the stories of the Bible and actually understands the message would hate immigrants that much. They’re nothing but sanctimonious liars.

  2. savu says:

Good for her! It always seemed like she felt off after that horrible accident. It’s nice to see her have some new joy in her life. Both with the tour and baby, ha! Yeah that was a little weird they buried the lead there.

    • Julia says:

I guess she thought the baby is the most exciting news and you save the best till last.

  3. SJhere says:

I’m sick of hearing about her. Don’t care at all. She seems very much an airhead, wrapped up in her looks.

  4. minx says:

Congrats to them but grossed out by Fisher’s support of that so-called “man of faith.”

    • MaryContrary says:

      Ditto.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

      Me three.

I live in Tennessee and I’m so glad the primary is over. Of the conservative candidates all the commercials were literally who could “out-conservative” the others and even worse who was more of a trump supporter. This state is a lost cause. Hilary only won 3.2% of the vote in 2016 🤦🏻‍♀️

      • lucy2 says:

Clinton won 34.9% of the Tennessee vote in 2016. But yeah, it’s always going to be a red state.

That “man of faith” comment to me translates to “he’s bigoted and I’m ok with that because he talks about Jesus.” Which is pretty sad, because a true man of faith would be doing everything possible to help others, not hurt them.

      • Himmiefan says:

Hopefully we’ll elect Bredesen (D) to the Senate in Nov.

      • Kelly says:

There’s some good candidates out there for the blue side. At least we don’t have to contend with that profiteering harpy Diane Black. I would have liked Fitzhugh but I’ll vote Dean in November

  5. Cdnkitty says:

They only care about white christian babies. The rest can go rot. #teamnope

  6. Sarah says:

    Her husband is disgusting.

  7. Indiana Joanna says:

“He is a great man of faith”

Great man of hypocrisy. And check out the comments of his supporters on that Instagram. Vile and not “Christian” at all.

  8. Chaine says:

At this point to me “man of faith” means “racist misogynist homophobic amoral white guy.” I’m Very Very glad to be an ex-Christian.

    • girl_ninja says:

Same. It was a long journey climbing out of the “sunken place.” I’m happy to be free.

    • Lindy says:

Me three. I never realized how much of my anxiety and unhappiness was rooted in my Christianity and the Christians I was around (even nice, progressive ones). Happy atheist for a long time now. Lately, religion just seems to be a cover for racism and misogyny.

    • NicoleinSavannah says:

This ex Southern Baptist/Nazarene high fives you.

    • minx says:

Same, from a former Catholic, short-lived Unitarian and now lazy agnostic.

    • Tate says:

Right there with you all. I ran away from it as soon as I could.

    • Kelly says:

Well it depends on the church and the denomination. My Presbyterian church is not close minded at all, accepts everyone. So I am finding definite comfort there in these times.

  9. Slowsnow says:

Just watched the last episode of Queer Eye about a Mayor (in Texas I think) who wants to bring his community of different religions and ethnicities together. Thinking about it again to wash off the terrible thing I just read.

  10. Original T.C. says:

I love how she continuously invites fans into her personal life yet when a critique is mentioned there is a pushback of “stay out of her marriage!!!!”. But I do wish her and her husband goodluck with the band-aid baby.

  11. Cali says:

At least she’ll talk about this for the next few months instead of her face injury…

  12. mtam says:

It’s interesting how everyone is criticizing her husband’s political affiliations (and rightfully so, what they stand for is horrid) and leave her out, when we know the majority of white women in the U.S. voted for Trump. It’s very likely she and her husband did too, and they seem to still support many of those ideals. My point is they are the kind of people also responsible and complicit for all the shit and abuses hapening there right now.
Now they’re raising another generation to believe and uphold this bullshit… F*ck all them honestly.

    • KBB says:

I didn’t think she was a Republican, but now I’m not so sure. They all hated her after she and Brad Paisley mocked Trump at the CMAs.

      • mtam says:

Yeah but that was a skit which can be innocent enough depending on how people take it. While she dated and married this man and is choosing to raise kids with him. That gives me more of an indication where her values are.

  13. JRenee says:

I know opposites attract but she has to be aware of the optics on his political statements. This is sad that in 2018 we are still trying to whiten up the USA. Foreigners allowed, just white ones only please. Very sad!

    • mtam says:

why are you so sure they’re opposites? Could be she also believes this dangerous ideology

  14. Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

    Sounds like damage control?

Bandaid babies don’t always work, Carrie.
