Omarosa Manigault secretly recorded some conversations with Donald Trump

Donald J. Trump attends business affairs in the White House

As we discussed previously, fired White House staffer and reality-show villainess Omarosa Manigault has written a book. She was looking for a book deal the second Secret Service agents escorted her out of the White House kicking and screaming. She did some appearances and interviews, but she playing a dumb withholding game, all of it trying to get a book deal. Well, she got one, and Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House will be released momentarily. Omarosa will actually be making the TV rounds in the next week to promote the book – she’s appearing on Meet the Press (on Sunday) and the Today Show on Monday.

In the first excerpts from the book, Omarosa described Trump as seeming like he’s in “mental decline,” because she’s known him for the better part of like 15 years, and she says he used to be a lot sharper. Fox News Brain-Rot is apparently a medical condition now, huh? Anyway, the newest story from Omarosa’s book tour is that she possibly/probably recorded some conversations she had with Trump and maybe some other White House staffers?

Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and fixer, isn’t the only one with secretly recorded audio of the president. Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell The Daily Beast that Omarosa Manigault-Newman, the infamous former Apprentice star who followed Trump to the White House, secretly recorded conversations with the president—conversations she has since leveraged while shopping her forthcoming “tell-all” book, bluntly titled UNHINGED.

For months, it has been rumored that Manigault had clandestinely recorded on her smartphone “tapes” of unspecified private discussions she had in the West Wing. Audio actually does exist, and even stars Manigault’s former boss.

One person confirmed to The Daily Beast they had heard at least one of her recordings featuring President Trump. Multiple sources familiar with the so-called “Omarosa tapes” described the recorded conversations between Trump and Manigault as anodyne, everyday chatter, but said they did appear to feature Trump’s voice, either over the phone or in-person.

The mere existence of such recordings represent a dramatic betrayal of trust by a one-time Trump confidant who has since abandoned years of professed loyalty to the president and has apparently decided to profit off her years of closeness to Trump.

[From The Daily Beast]

Sources describe the conversation as “anodyne, everyday chatter.” So what’s the point? Why was she even recording him? Just to do it, to prove that she could? And at this point, who wasn’t recording their conversations with Trump? His own lawyer did it. Omarosa did it. Vladimir Putin does it. Ha, just kidding. Putin just installed a bug in the Oval Office so he doesn’t have to record every single conversation. I’m not imagining White House staffers gathering in the Oval for the morning meeting and suddenly there’s a high-pitched “feedback” sound for all of the competing recording devices on various staffers.

Unless she has something to really incriminating, she needs to go away.
No matter what it is, his crazy supporters won’t care. I’ve never seen such mental gymnastics as people trying to justify the lies, the corruption etc.

    • Alice says:

I have, unfortunately. I grew up in a cult. It is pretty terrifying.

      • tealily says:

The idea that that is the most direct comparison to what is happening politically in our country right now is just chilling.

      • TandemBikeEscapee says:

Well, from what I’ve experienced and studied, MAGA is a cult. It promotes community and “values” while slowly eroding follower’s basic rights. The people in the inner circle are allowed unbridled abuse that progresses to the top tier; I believe the top is Putin. Also, the top echelon do not uphold said values, but use lip service to manipulate the minions. C U L T= M A G A

  2. Petey says:

Isn’t that illegal unless in a public setting? I thought DC is two party consent?

  3. Neelyo says:

Still ain’t buying the trash you’re selling, Omarosa.

  4. Sarah says:

Who is not recording President Bankrupcy Batista?

  5. Medusa says:

Nobody really cares about this because she isn’t saying anything new and it won’t have any consequences for him whatsoever. The only thing this proves is that toxic attracts toxic. He will throw anyone under the bus, including his children, to save his diaper ass and so will anyone who befriends him.

    • Swackd says:

The only thing it’s doing is possibly selling more books for her. I say, show the receipts or STFU.

  6. Elkie says:

Two Scoops, One Cup has never been loyal to anyone but himself, so why not try to profit off him? Get that money, girl!

Also I like her bouclé jacket.

    • FLORC says:

Shes not a politician so theres slack given, but this is a part of why our system is broken.
If you have info on the mental instability of the holder in our highest office please don’t wait for a book deal. Dont profit while our country and people suffer.
That’s why few speak up so far. Dollars over patriotism

  7. Jenns says:

I refuse to take sides in this one. Both are garbage people.

  8. Naomi11 says:

I would love to hear the dirt on the dirt bag POS.

  9. grabbyhands says:

    Team No One.

It doesn’t matter if he qualified for Mensa pre-election. He has always been a hateful, vile, sexist, racist, xenophobic, narcissistic piece of trash and these excuses just make her look worse than she already did.

The fact that you thought you had to secretly record someone makes it obvious you knew he was horrible and was going to say something awful and it still didn’t matter until you were canned and still needed a way to stay relevant.

    • Esmom says:

Agree with everything you said. They’ve both always been terrible.

And if the tapes don’t reveal anything of consequence, I don’t get why she’s even sharing them with anyone.

    • Swackd says:

This – totally – “The fact that you thought you had to secretly record someone makes it obvious you knew he was horrible and was going to say something awful and it still didn’t matter until you were canned and still needed a way to stay relevant.”

    • magnoliarose says:

Exactly why people who now claim they never knew he was awful need to shut up. He’s been awful since I drew my first breath back in the 80s. For my whole damn life, this man has been a vile cretin. He liked her because he saw those same traits reflected back at him.
Her book will be nothing new. Unless she says she witnessed him giving Putin a naked massage and has visual and audio, she can go grift somewhere else.

      • Darla says:

        seconded

      • MaryContrary says:

This times one million. Not to mention, it doesn’t matter what putrid garbage she recorded him saying-none of it is going to give Republicans backbones or change his idiot followers’ minds.

  10. Crackfox says:

Ross Mathews said Omarosa spilled major, highly classified White House tea at a dinner party she hosted. I wish I was a fly on that wall.

    • Naomi11 says:

      Oh, me too!

    • jwoolman says:

Just put Ross Mathews Omarosa into YouTube search box, will have to check out all the hits.

I like Ross. He seems like a nice guy but is also very funny as a comedian. I’d rather listen to his take on it all than Omarosa’s.

  11. Eric says:

There’s probably little on the secret recordings of significance. However, it’s great that Omorosa is back for Season 2 of “Shitshow.”
Just FYI, DC has a law about recording individuals. Only one person needs to consent (Omorosa) to secretly record convos.

I hope EZ squirms a bit about it and others join in the recording sessions.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I like how you titled this series of horrific events. It’s the perfect name!

Yes, this won’t accomplish much besides pissing off Trump, which is ok by me.

  12. Sarah says:

Surely the people who kept bitching about HRC’s emails being a matter of national security are alarmed by this, right? Like, this is the POTUS being recorded by a Z-list reality contestant. If she can do it, literraly ANYBODY can…

  13. TW says:

Trump is trash, so he surrounds himself with trash.

  14. boredblond says:

How convenient that the title (unhinged) fits them both..there seems to be little evidence that either was ever ‘hinged’…both bullying, narcissistic fame ho’s.

    • Lady D says:

I know I said this once before, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how she got Micheal Clarke Duncan to propose. I can scarce picture a worse couple.

  15. jwoolman says:

Well, long ago Trump’s lawyers made sure they always visited him in pairs. He revised history in his head so much that they needed a witness to what was actually said and agreed upon. So I wasn’t shocked at all that Cohen kept tapes.

I’ve worked for people like that. If the equipment had been available as it is today, you bet I would have recorded them, for my own protection. As it was, I had to save every scrap of paper and take a lot of detailed notes. They still would try to blame me for what they told me to do. Such people with shifting convenient memories cause a lot of problems.

    • magnoliarose says:

I have had to do that too. I still keep journals of conversations I have with people when it comes to business. Contemporaneous notes, conversations with others and recordings are powerful proof. More than once I used it on people to get what was owed to me or to prove a quote. I never had to take anyone to actual court. Usually, a letter from my lawyer and a meeting spelling out my proof were more than enough to bring them around. It is a shame when it comes to that but I learned from being burned that some people are just lying corrupt greedy snakes without scruples.

      • jwoolman says:

I was once told I should beep periodically when on the phone because my logbooks were so detailed. I would just go back to the date in question and read off direct quotes from the person at the other end.
        🙂

Actually, I have trouble focusing on phone calls or any oral communication in real life unless I’m writing things down. I much prefer e-mail!

  16. Eric says:

Speaking of tapes and recordings (Lordy there ARE tapes), everyone’s favorite treasonweasel Devin Nunes is on tape saying the GOP needs to win the House in Nocember to protect Emperor Zero because “Sessions won’t recuse and Mueller” has free reign to crush EZ.

Independent source Scott Dworkin, not yet corroborated, says that Nunes, Hannity, and Rorhbacher are all under investigation. Please please please will an outlet substantiate this?

    • cr says:

      Dworkin’s not reliable.
But… I’d be very surprised if those three aren’t under investigation.

      • magnoliarose says:

Yeah I mean we know their guilty so probably others do too. It will play out eventually I suspect.

    • lucy2 says:

I hope so, but I hope it’s a legit investigation, not some ridiculous Congress looking into itself kind of thing.

    • Fluffy Princess says:

Oh please, please, please, please let Hannity get trapped in this net! There is a really good chance that he will, too! Because…Cohen has tapes of his “clients” and others–and who did Cohen say was one of his clients? Hannity!

Also, it was mentioned a few months ago that Hannity had been talking to Manafort for at least six months after Manafort was no longer the campaign manager for EZ. That’s bad for Hannity because during that time the Feds were recording all of Manafort’s communications. (phone, cell, email)…

I would love love love for this smug dumb dumb to get in trouble. Lots and lots of trouble.

    • Tiffany :) says:

This phrase of Nunes stuck out to me:
“and Mueller won’t clear the President,…”

To me, it seems that he knows Trump has committed enough wrong doing that he won’t be cleared by the investigation. Even though I assumed this, to hear him sound so matter of fact about it, so casual, it just stood out to me.

    • holly hobby says:

Not only that. He spilled that the Rosenstein impeachment was on hold until they ram Kavanaugh into SC. Once that happens and after midterms they plan to impeach Rod then. I knew it was fishy that those dicks gave up without a fight. Thanks for the game plan treason weasel. I’m sure Mueller is working OT on the case now. It gives me pleasure to see all those people hauled off.

Also NY Senator Chris Collins was hauled off and indicted for insider trading and cover up.

  17. PlayItAgain says:

She’s as big a grifter as the Asshat in Chief, so I assume whatever recordings she might have are innocuous one offs, like Trump bellowing for another Coke. I’m still not buying her damn book.

  18. minx says:

This woman is a trash heap like her former boss, so it pains me to say she looks really good in that last picture. In the blue dress.

    • Tiffany :) says:

Ha! I was wondering what magical bra she found to work with the exposed sides. I see the underwire, so I know there’s a bra! I have a relatively large chest, and in all my years of searching, I can’t find a strapless bra that works (much less one that doesn’t have sides!). They all slide down on me.

    • I thought the same thing, terrible person, but she looks great.

  19. holly hobby says:

Well someone on Twitter got an advanced copy of that book and she did detail that they were trying to find who the leakers were. Her Scaramucci and Complicit Barbie were gathering a list. Scaramucci was suppose to fire all those people from that list but darnnit, Kelly fired him.

I’m not buying the book but I will check it out at the library for free!

  20. greenteaandrosehip says:

Despite all of her shenanigans…she looks gorgeous in that blue dress. I love the high neck and the rhinestone sparkles.
