Melania Trump’s parents just became naturalized citizens, but it’s fine, they’re white

Donald Trump hates immigrants. He hates brown people. He hates black people. He hates Muslims. He hates Hindus. He hates Sikhs. He hates anyone and everyone from what he deems a “sh-thole country.” He wants to stop brown and black immigrants from coming to this country. He wants to revoke citizenship from black and brown naturalized citizens. He has ranted and raved and tweeted about the evils of chain migration. All this from a man who has married two immigrant women – Ivana was an immigrant, and Ivanka, Tweedledee and Tweedletreason are all anchor babies. Melania was an immigrant who lived in the US under a shady, questionable visa, and then weirdly became a naturalized citizen shortly after she started dating Trump. It’s taken some-odd 17 to 18 years, but Melania’s parents are now naturalized citizens too. But they’re white, so I guess chain migration is fine when it involves white peeps.

First Lady Melania Trump‘s parents became naturalized United States citizens on Thursday, PEOPLE confirms. Viktor and Amalija Knavs, Slovenian immigrants in their 70s, took the citizenship oath at a private ceremony in New York City, the Associated Press reported. The husband and wife — a former car dealer and a former textile factory worker, respectively — had been living in the United States as permanent residents.

The couples’ lawyer, Michael Wildes, did not specify the length of time the Knavses have been living in the United States, according to the AP. Under United States law, permanent residents must be in the country for at least five years in order to apply for citizenship.

“The dialogue we are having on immigration, this is an example of it going right,” Wildes added. Wildes confirmed to PEOPLE that the Knavses became citizens on Thursday, but declined any further comment. The first lady’s spokesperson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

[From People]

“This is an example of it going right…” Make no mistake, right = white. It’s a plain as the nose on Melania’s facelift. You can’t tell me that Melania maybe/probably got a “genius” visa, overstayed that questionable visa, worked illegally, somehow got greenlighted for naturalization, and then was able to bring her parents over here where they’ve maintained permanent resident status for years AND EVERYTHING WAS DONE CORRECTLY? No. And no one is really going to press Donald Trump about this either, let’s be clear. We’ve all just accepted the fact that the traitorous president’s immigration conversation is ONLY ABOUT RACE. Which is to say, it’s only about Trump’s racism and stoking fear of brown people, so much so that there are still children in f–king cages on American soil. Don’t give me this horsesh-t about this being one of the times it went “right.”

So, Melania’s husband and father share the same closet?

    Nice.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Yes that was the first thing I noticed – Daddy dresses in he same ill fitting suits with long tie as husband, plus she dresses just like Mummy too.

      • Nanny to the rescue says:

I’d say it’s in reverse: dad picked up Trump’s style and mom Melania’s.

It’s not likely that it went the other way around. It’s the “kids” who have money for these fabrics and designers.

      • Jan90067 says:

Forget the suit… WHERE IS THE SCREAMING ABOUT “CHAIN IMMIGRATION”!!!!! Holy Sh!t, does ANYONE believe that Melanoma got in here on merit for her Einstein Visa!?? And then brings her parents over, who had no discernible talent/occupation?? WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE ON FAUX NEWS!! IMMIGRANTS!!! AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGG!!!

Sorry… didn’t have my first cup of coffee yet, but man, it just so p!sses me off!!

        ~rant over

    • Iknow says:

Yes! Not that I need any proof because I loathe her as much as her husband, but looking at her father further solidifies my belief that she is just like her husband. She loves that fat, sick, jerk. She married her father.

    • M.A.F. says:

Aren’t they also the same age?

  2. Mel says:

You know what baffles me the most in all this? The shamelessness of it all. It’s so in your face and yet…
I guess « hidden in plain sight » is an effective approach… (racism, collusion, treason, lies…)

    • Darla says:

This is so true. The shamelessness is shocking and sometimes it seems as if no one cares.

    • Snappyfish says:

So much for being anti chain migration. Melania got a “genius visa” in order to get a green card & her parents chain migrated. Trump is so full of hypocritical poop it’s hard to keep up.

The classic robber baron. I loathe these people. The only one I carry a modicum of sympathy for is Baron.

      • FLORC says:

Trump is unfit to say the least. I do not believe he grasps 90% of what a POTUS deals with daily. And I’m being generous with that 10%.

Baron is the only 1 here that isn’t there by choice.

      • BearcatLawyer says:

Ha ha ha. If you believe Melania got an EB11 genius immigrant visa, I have oceanfront property in Kansas to sell you! The scuttlebutt in the darker corners of the immigration world is that she had a brief marriage to a U.S. citizen in the late 1990s, which is how she got her green card. She was nowhere near qualified for an EB11 at the time.

    • Coco says:

I was reading FOX News comments about this yesterday (I know, I know) and everyone was congratulating them on doing it “the right way”. It’s chain migration. It’s reunification of family based upon Melania being a citizen, nothing more. What are they contributing to society? Correct me if I’m wrong but they haven’t contributed to our tax system but are now free to use a wealth of benefits if they wanted to, right? I personally have no problem with them becoming citizens because bringing over family members strengthens the fabric of our society. It’s just blatant VIP treatment that it’s ok for the Trump family but not for those fleeing suffering and hardship.

      • holly hobby says:

Yes they haven’t contributed to anything but they are qualified to dip into the medicare pool. I wouldn’t be surprised if they asked for other benefits too. I doubt Orange Nazi is “supporting them” financially. I’m sure Daddy’s suit was a cast off from the giant orange.

    • Moco says:

It’s not that no one cares. Republicans have their own news network and a separate reality. Fox News puts a positive spin on it – they immigrated legally! They followed all the rules! – and any other angle on it is Fake News, period.

  3. Sarah says:

That shameless, good-for-nothing witch that pretends to be the FLOTUS was supposed to hold a press conference regarding her immigration *check notes* two years ago.

  4. Beth says:

Enraging how he’s against something like immigration unless it involves someone in his family, and then he has no problem with it. Hypocritical as hell

    • B n A fan says:

He said he wants to stop chain migration. Well, I guess now that his in laws are here, (they are here because of chain migration), everyone else is screwed, he will put a stop 🛑 to it now. Oh, btw, if you’re white it doesn’t matter. He did say a few months ago they want white people from Poland? or some predominantly white country, I forget which ones to come, not The Blacks or The Browns.

      • Jan90067 says:

I believe it was Sweden, or Norway. You know, the RIGHT kind of Aryan blood.

      • babypeanut says:

Don’t forget Denmark – they’re pure as well.

      • CairinaCat says:

I imported my husband from Denmark on a fiancee visa, we did do it the right way and it sure as hell wasn’t easy.

You need to be RICH and white apparently, or the potus

  5. boredblond says:

Not only did the third wife get here by shady means, so did the first..she had a Canadian work permit (where she initially moved to) when she began teaching skiing in the US..w/o a green card. As far as melanie’s story, well, the press just gave her a pass, as they often do..it would be interesting to find out who okayed her papers..

    • RBC says:

That person is probably now living overseas enjoying a early retirement courtesy of a “large bank balance”…

    • Iknow says:

Personally I think it was Chuck Schumer or Hllary Clinton. He was very buddy, buddy with them before seeing a black man in office made him lose his mind. Gave them money, invited them to his wedding.

  6. Rapunzel says:

Ugh. Those deported (with no due process) asylum seekers whose kids were taken from them (with no due process) were doing things right. The DACA students who trusted the government with their information for a pathway to citizenship only to have that used against them when our government went back on its word were doing things right. The numerous Legal immigrant citizens having their citizenship questioned and investigated did things right.

This sh*tty ass Slovenian couple using their daughter’s gold digging marriage to a pseudo rich a**hole did not do things right.

This is clearly not about illegal immigration anymore. It’s about cutting off immigration for people who don’t have the appropriate skin color. It’s sickening.

  7. Swackd says:

And it’s spreading. Have you heard the statement Laura Ingraham made on her show:

Dropped into the national conversation without any other context, the comments made by Fox News host Laura Ingraham on her show Wednesday night are jarring.

“In some parts of the country, it does seem like the America we know and love don’t exist anymore,” she said, with videos of agricultural work playing over her shoulder. “Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people. And they’re changes that none of us ever voted for and most of us don’t like.”

“Much of this,” she added, “is related to both illegal and in some cases legal immigration that, of course, progressives love.” (from WaPo)

    This is just SICK!

    • Rapunzel says:

Yep. Those Trump supporters that say that they just want people to come here Lthe right way” are fooling themselves because it’s not about the way the immigration happens. It’s about the color of the immigrant’s skin. Ingraham’s comments clearly show. Demographic changes nobody voted on? F*ck you, bi*ch.

It’s slowly shifting from we just don’T want illegal immigrants to we don’t want immigrants at all. It’s frightening. Because they can easily start going back to people who immigrated the right way and take that back. The government is not keeping it’s word and we need to hold them accountable.

      • holly hobby says:

If that’s true the Native Americans can begin purging all the white people from the land. After all, they were here first.

They are already trying to rescind citizenship. Baby Goebbels is heading a task force to kick people out – even if you’re naturalized.

      • FLORC says:

I’m naturalized. My mother was an anchor baby. Her family benefitted from reunification.
Every member contributed to our adopted nation. They served in armed forces. Worked impressive jobs for the government. They did things right. Meaning they came for a better life and were not a burden in a time of war and suffering. Paying taxes the whole way.
It took time and it’s legal. We are white and olive toned so no gleeful deplorable will look at us like we don’t “belong” and this whole mess makes me sick.

    • Christin says:

The woman who looks perpetually constipated needs to think about who will pick her organic prunes, should immigration be limited.

    • Elkie says:

If you think that’s sick, Nazi Salute Barbie actually has a daughter she adopted from Guatemala…

…who will spend the rest of her life knowing that Mommie Dearest is unashamedly a white nationalist s***bag who believes that girls like her should be made to feel unwelcome in their new home country based solely on the colour of their skin.

      • Louisa says:

Wow! I had no idea about that. How does she possibly explain this to her daughter? The hypocrisy blows my mind.

      • Kitten says:

WHAT? She has a daughter she adopted from Guatemala?

OMFG calling that cognitive dissonance is too f*cking generous.

WATP had some interesting comments recently about foreign children who are adopted by Americans and how Trump’s anti-immigration policy could affect them.

Holy shit my mind is REELING from this news. Have never heard that about Ingraham before…wowowowowow…

      • CJW says:

She was also engaged to that a**hat Dinish D’souza (sp) that tRump just pardoned.

      • AnneC says:

One child from Guatemala and 2 from Russian. So a whole family of “immigrants”. She’s vile.

      • holly hobby says:

Maybe the Russian babies are spies for pudding? She is most likely a treason weasel too.

    • Stumpycorgi says:

Ugh, Laura Death Eater Ingraham!! “Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people. And they’re changes that none of us ever voted for and most of us don’t like.” Excuse me c*nt?!! Speak for your own racist, xenophobic, dumbass self. My neighborhood is full of signs in yards that say things like “wherever you are from, you are welcome here!” I understand that there’s a big difference between my blue city and the red countryside, but fuck that noise!! Most of us actually think you’re a Death Eater, and those who “like” you only value you as a blonde hatred-barfing automaton. Just wait until your Republican no-longer-bangable expiration date comes. You’ll never be Princess Complicity. 🤬

      • Kitten says:

It’s like Republicans forget that diversity is far more popular than unpopular. WTF do they think that cities are so densely-populated? People aren’t clamoring to live in San Francisco because they love fog.

    • Veronica says:

Yeah, that was on CNN’s front page. Even they seemed taken aback by how obviously racially charged the rhetoric. I’m not. It was a matter of time before they stopped coding it.

    • Jan90067 says:

On Erin Burnett’s CNN show yesterday, an African American reporter was sent to a small, rural town in PA to talk to an out n’ proud Neo-Nazi. It is just chilling. “It” (I refuse to humanize a Nazi) was spouting the same thing as the c*nt LI was saying. If you scroll in to about 19:50 on the video, you can see the report: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLuzWBQWITg

Then she had that disgusting front person who spouts “Women for Dump” trying to justify… Unreal!

    • holly hobby says:

Boycott Ingraham’s advertisers and let them know it. As long as we’re doing it, we should also boycott Marvel because their CEO (Ike Perlmutter) is secretly running the Vet Admin (he was not appted and he never served). How is this ok?

Ike got to treat the VA as his toy by simply becoming a member of the golden tacky palace (Mar a lago).

  8. Original T.C. says:

This is so disgusting. Miller and Trump are about to place executive orders preventing legal immigrants from becoming citizens if they are on Obama care. Then Sessions is reviewing records of US citizens to revoke their citizenships if there is even a slight error in their original documentation. Meanwhile Melanie gets away with her shady “genius” visa and citizenship.

But of course this family of crooks will get away with it because we have become worse than a so-called Banana Republic. Except in Banana Republics the people still will take to the streets and call out corruption. I can’t wait for the new generation of Democrats and Social Democrats to get into congress and make some noise.

    • holly hobby says:

Sue sue sue. They won’t get away with it because it’s illegal (due process). The courts are the ones who’s holding us up until November.

  9. Becks1 says:

And now Stephen Miller et al are coming for legal immigrants as well.

It’s all so enraging and like someone said above, the shamelessness of it all….

    • B n A fan says:

I hope the dotard remembers wife #3 is an immigrant, legal or illegal.

Off topic: anyone noticed his father in law is four years older than him and looks 10 years younger. All his sins are really take a toll on him, IMO he looks like hell. I bet he smells to with his sour looking hair and I’ll fitting and wrinkles suits in that area down there.

    • Original T.C. says:

It’s because they can’t will elections fair and Square. They need it kick citizens off the ballots so their small minority of voters can will elections. They are pushing for South African minority rules the majority.

  10. Eric says:

As the wardrobe of Melania’s dad points out, EVERYONE in or attached to this administration has long red ties (to Russia).

  11. Lolo86lf says:

Republicans are such blatant hypocrites when it comes to immigration. For instance Ann Coulter does not want swarthy immigrants in the country only white European immigrants are okay in her book. Ann Coulter loathes brown and black-skinned people. I remember when she was making fun of Fareed Zakaria’s accent from CNN, and then the next day she was praising Melania’s “cute accent”. Both Zakaria and Melania have a foreign accent which racists like Coulter detest but somehow Melania’s is cute but not Zakaria’s. What makes the difference? Melania is WHITE and Zakaria is NOT. Republicans like Coulter are disgusting racists.

    • holly hobby says:

And I think she is dating “swarthy” Jimmy “JJ” Walker too. Yeah I couldn’t believe it either but it’s true.

  12. PlayItAgain says:

I’m assuming this was added to the deal when Melania renegotiated the marriage contract right after the Orange Asshat was inaugurated. Since they never expected to win, and she never wanted to be First Lady, I believe that the reason she stayed in NYC for so long was because she insisted on changes to the trophy wife contract. If new duties were going to be added to her list, she was going to get paid more. I bet citizenship for her parents was included.

  13. Beth says:

Are they too old to join the U.S. Space Force that their stable genius son in law wants to create?

  14. Amelie says:

I am so glad my father became a citizen under the Clinton administration. I don’t know if it’s just my perception but I feel like the pathway to citizenship changed dramatically post-9/11 and Bush’s multiple War on Terrors. Had my dad waited a few more years (he became a US citizen in 1998) I think it would have been more difficult (but not too much as he is white and from France).

Let’s not pretend Melania’s parents weren’t fast tracked and didn’t bribe a few people to get their citizenship.

    • Kitten says:

Stephen Miller’s plan via Trump is to go after green card holders and legal immigrants now. It’s really scary. I don’t *think* he will go after green card holders who have lived in the US for so many years–his plan is to target future green card holders–but who knows…
My mom is a green card holder so this sh*t literally keeps me up at night.

    • Veronica says:

The demographic shifts mean this wave of xenophobia would’ve been inevitable either way, but 9/11 certainly hastened it in an uglier way with more fear-driven politics.

    • Dara says:

Amelie, for your father’s sake, please don’t assume naturalized citizenship means he is completely safe. Usually, stripping someone of their citizenship has been reserved for the most heinous of criminals, but that doesn’t mean the Trump administration will abide by the usual standards of fairness and decency when it comes to purging this country of those they deem undesirable. In fact, they have already started.
      http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/392034-uscis-will-seek-to-revoke-citizenship-of-naturalized-americans-for or
      https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/in-america-naturalized-citizens-no-longer-have-an-assumption-of-permanence

    • Amelie says:

I’m not assuming anything but based on those articles you provided I’m not going to worry myself sick over it. The only thing I can think of is for them to prove that my parents 36 year marriage is a sham which… is going to be very hard for them to prove. The thing I could see them doing is holding people under scrutiny for not renouncing their native country’s citizenship. My father still has his. The US doesn’t officially recognize dual citizenship but it doesn’t ban it outright and hopefully not something that occurs to the Trump administration to investigate because millions of Americans hold dual citizenship (including myself and my sister). France does recognize dual citizenship (which is how I was able to acquire it and I’ve had it for 10 years).

      • Dara says:

I agree, for many this shouldn’t be a major worry – for now. But we’ve seen how this administration has been implementing extreme changes to policy when they think no one is looking. Just because there is no reason to worry today doesn’t mean the same will be true in a few months, or in a few years. And I would bet that most people think once citizenship has been granted, it cannot be taken away. The opposite is true, and that has always been the case. We’ve just never been in a place where it was conceivable it could be revoked in all but the most rarest of circumstances.

  15. RBC says:

Interesting timing on them being granted citizenship. Parents are still separated from their children and the anniversary of Charlottesville is coming up. It is almost like a big F… You to people
Melania was certainly making a point with that coat she wore a few weeks ago

  16. BrutalEthyl says:

BO had his black, living illegally in America aunt to become a citizen. I’m just saying if people are going to call other people out, they need to look in their own closet first.

    • B n A fan says:

There are lots of people living here illegally, BO one aunt is a problem for you but what this dotard is doing to people seeking asylum with their children are split apart and treated like animals. There are more white people coming to this country via air, overstaying their visas, than people crossing the borders. So what you are saying does not make sense. What we are talking about is the President of the United States playing favorites and being a hypocrite. Btw, BO was called the deporter in Chief, but he did not discriminate. Anyway have a nice day and bless your heart ❤️ for being so up on the news about BO.

    • Veronica says:

Zeituni Onyango had come here originally as an asylum seeker fleeing violence in Kenya. She did violate the terms when they refused her case, but she was also struck by an autoimmune disease that produced medical complications. When awareness of his aunt’s legal status came to light, he stated that she should be subject to the same laws as anybody else. Obama is not the one who gave her legal status – the COURTS reopened her case for review in Boston and later granted her clemency. You’re free to speculate how that privilege was linked to the fortune of her blood relation, but the lawyers have been explicit that Obama was not involved personally in the process. She’s also not a citizen – she’s a green card holder who planned to apply for a work visa. Legal resident, yes. Legal citizen, no.

There are aspects of the Obama administration that I didn’t agree with in regards to immigration, but it is not at all equivalent to the hypocrisy of marrying a woman who committed potential visa fraud, and then pushing for massive immigration “reform” that is actually a thinly veiled white supremacist purge of demographics of which they don’t approve.

    • Typical hypocritical trumper, this has nothing to do with Obama, this is about your guy and his racist policies. Quit trying to change the subject because you have nothing good to say about Dump.

Do you really think Melania qualified for a “genius” visa? Lol No, she’s just the “right” color.

    • babypeanut says:

Bless your heart for the need to point out it was Obama’s “black” aunt. You know, just in case we thought it was the God lovin’ white Kansans.

    • holly hobby says:

Ok honey thank you for the daily dose of whataboutulism. Do you have one for Hillary too?

  17. Marjorie says:

Cadet Bone Spurs is an anchor baby too, his mother immigrated from Scotland.

We are all paying for him not being accepted by NY high society when he wanted to be a knickerbocker New Yorker in the 1970s. Also for the NFL refusing to let him own a team. He’s got the buried rage of a true narcissist.

It’s Friday, something usually comes out in the afternoon…hope it’s an indictment of Tweedledum and/or Tweedletreason – thanks for that, Kaiser.

  18. Lyla says:

He doesn’t want to just go after illegal and legal immigrants, but he wants to denaturalize citizens too. And he wants to change the 14th amendment – the one that grants citizenship to anyone born in the US.

I hate him and his croonies so much. Every morning, I wake up to horrible news. I just want my sanity back.

  19. Veronica says:

Except that the visa they utilized to get in is one that Trump and Miller are opposed to and are consider overturning – and there have been discussions of whether Melania was using her properly, too. I mean, feel free to assume the rest of are idiots, but frankly, anybody who’s opened a history book can recognize the racial and ethnic implications of this kind of dialogue. Cracking down on immigration to the extent of pursuing maneuvers against legal residents when we have an aging population and a dropping birth rate seems pretty illogical to anybody with a basic understanding of economics unless you look at the real intent behind it.

    • babypeanut says:

Veronica, you’re being kind. An illiterate, kindergarten drop-out could recognize the coded language. People who don’t see are willfully blind.

  20. Pandy says:

Oh thank God. I was worried they would be denied. Said nobody.

  21. HyacinthBuckey says:

Melanie’s “work” has always been questionable. I love that both parents aren’t exactly trim. Gonna be hard for Melanie to keep that flat ass as she ages

  22. babypeanut says:

Despite the shadiness of Melania’s parents being naturalized, it angers me for another reason. Melania was a grown woman when she came here, and while it’s nice her parents were able to follow, it wasn’t necessary. I worked with a Romanian woman who worked for a decade to bring over her husband and two small children, and was still struggling when last I saw her. It’s clearly far more important to reunite two small children with their mother, than it is for a trophy wife to have her parents present to help her avoid her husband.

  23. Kookila says:

I just want to celebrate the name “Tweedletreason”. Thank you. *insert all celebratory emojis here*

  24. Ferdinand says:

Yeah, but I guess Trump’s not keeping these fine people’s kids in cages. Wait a minute …

  25. why? says:

How do we know that Melania’s parents did it the “right” way? So how do we know that the Dotard didn’t call in a favor because he is the “president”(it seems like Putin and Stephen Miller are making decisions for this country)? Then there was that time when Jared’s sister was giving out visas to those who invested in her business. What about Melania’s sister? Did she also do it the “right” way? We have the press to blame for this, they kept buying into Melania’s con about how she was miserable in the WH, totally ignoring that her parents and sister were profiting from her being married to the “president”.

Remember when Ivanka said that her mother came here legally? Turns out that was all another lie. According to her mother’s book, Ivanka’s mother married a man just so that she could get a visa and then she taught ski lessons without a proper work visa.
