Kendall Jenner faces well-deserved backlash for comments about runway models

Fashion for Famine show

Kendall Jenner is featured in the latest issue of Love Magazine (a British publication). I rarely cover anything from Love Mag, because I don’t really find their editorials all that compelling or notable, and the interviews (such as they are) are rather basic. But Love Magazine is making some news this week, because they published a quote from Kendall accompanied by some semi-nude new photos. Kendall apparently chatted with Love about her modeling career and how she was careful to avoid walking every runway:

“Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f–k those girls do. More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back,” says the 22-year-old, admitting that she “was on the verge of a mental breakdown.”

[From Love Magazine’s Instagram]

First of all, I’ve always believed the reason why Kendall and Gigi Hadid don’t walk every runway is because they’re both sh-tty runway models. Gigi clomps like a horse and Kendall doesn’t have much of a “walk.” Second of all, Kendall just pissed off the entire modeling community, the same community which already viewed her with justifiable suspicion because of her dumb nepotism.

Over the weekend, Love magazine posted the model’s quote along with an image from her accompanying photoshoot — and Jenner’s fellow catwalkers flocked to the comments section to share how they felt about her workload.

“This makes me so angry,” wrote Victoria’s Secret model Jac Jagaciak. “So disrespectful to literally 99% of people in the industry — yes, they had to work their way up. Please get in tough with the real world!”

Added Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition stunner Vita Sidorkina: “Maybe ‘those girls’ need to pay their bills that’s why they are doing 30 shows? No words…”

Other models screengrabbed and shared Love magazine’s post to their Instagram Stories along with commentary. “‘… Whatever the f—k those girls do’ is do their very best to make their way up AND try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families,” wrote runway fixture Daria Strokous. “Oh, and it’s 70 shows a season by the way and we are all f—king proud of every single one of the girls that did it.”

Peyton Knight followed suit, hashtagging her post “#ENDTHEPRIVILEGE” and writing, “This kinda disrespect towards other models who have NO NAME for themselves walking into the industry is disgusting. We don’t get to ‘choose’ which shows to do, and it’s an honor to do a lot… If we said no to multiple jobs we wouldn’t have a career.”

And transgender model Teddy Quinlivan shared a longer response to her Instagram Story. “As models we need to uplift each other,” she wrote. “If you are lucky as a model you might make enough to not be in debt to your agency; maybe even move out of the model apartment… Unfortunately this isn’t the case for the vast majority of models who have to leave everything behind including their families in pursuit of a better life….Models don’t just come from Calabasas… they come from Somalia, the Siberian tundra, a rural village in China, a trailer park in Tennessee. Making disparaging comments about your peers doesn’t lead to growth or unity which our regulation-less industry desperately needs.”

Jenner’s rep told Page Six that the star’s quote was taken out of context. “She realized the number of shows some models walk a season is closer to 80,” the rep explained. “The point was that it’s their path and ‘the more power to them.’ She admires their hard work and dedication. It’s an accomplishment.”

[From Page Six]

“The point was that it’s their path and ‘the more power to them.’” Yes, Kendall looks down her nose job at other models’ “paths” of, you know, actually working constantly and doing the day-to-day work of being a jobbing model. More power to the real models, because fake-lipped fake model Kendall only used the “model” job to do the bare minimum of work and then just coasted on nepotism. Kendall is such a pill. Oh, and the pill released another statement on Twitter:

It feels like the tenth time Kendall has claimed that she’s been taken out of context about something she said or did which was offensive. Anyway, I don’t believe her.

  1. Tiffany says:

Unless you are Linda or Naomi, yeah, you don’t get to say things like that Kendall.

    • Rescue Cat says:

That’s because she’s not at Naomi’s level. She will never be at Naomi’s level.

      • AG-UK says:

@Rescue cat you are so right. I use to help at the shows back in the day when it was Linda, Naomi, Christy, etc. and yes Naomi could be a bit nutty with drama she ruled the runway and still has a kick a..s body now to boot. None of that dead eyed walking looking like they have been hypnotized before walking out.

      • Tiffany says:

        @ Rescue Cat.

        You know that’s right.

    • Char says:

Naomi, Gisele, Linda, they would NEVER say that, they worked hard to get where they got, so they are grateful.

And the reason why Kendall, Kaia, Bella and Gigi don’t walk all the shows it’s because they don’t want to, if they wanted, any brand would get their horse walking. That’s what Kendall says, she is super selective, aka, only the big shows cause Karl will suck her up so Kim wears Chanel.

Her mom bought her a career, same with Kaia Gerber and the Hadids.

    • Milla says:

Linda and especially Naomi worked hard. They didn’t become supermodels overnight. God knows what those girls went through to become supermodels. And they stayed friends through all of it, admirable and rare.

    • Megan says:

Bi$ch of the moment needs to take a seat.

      • Jan90067 says:

Truly. And you just KNOW PR crafted and posted those remarks, that’s not *her* making those Tweets. She doesn’t have the brain power/education to write a concise sentence let alone 3 paragraphs.

    • AnnaKist says:

Methinks the lady doth rotest too much. Can this yawn-inducing bird still be considered a working model? Or a “resting model”, even? There’s the door, luv.

      • Manic Pixie says:

Can’t stand her, but she is literally the highest paid “supermodel” on the planet. Which makes this story all the more infuriating.

    • Silent Star says:

How about people just boo her next time she’s on a runway.

      • Gobo says:

Oh I have no doubt the models she will share runways with in the future will be hissing at her. Entitled and idiotic brat,

    • Adee says:

I don’t believe her denial at all.

She wants to seem more “in-demand” and “SUPERmodel” by doing less shows, but many models are doing this to survives and make ends meat, not just as a hobby occasionally.

She meant what she said but doesn’t wanna be held accountable for it, just like her pepsi add.

  2. Lightpurple says:

Her respect for them is immeasurable because it doesn’t exist.

  3. Beth says:

She definitely has to learn to think before she speaks

  4. Lucy says:

Drag. Her. She will have to take all the seats.

  5. ConnieQ says:

Why should she work so much? She can bridge the race divide plaguing this country with just a can of pepsi. can other models do that? don’t think so. not all hero’s need to work

  6. Alix says:

How, exactly, were her words “twisted”? If they were, she should demand that a recording of the interview be released to clear things up.

Amazing to think that this dead-eyed zombie is the world’s top-earning model. Does PMK threaten to break knees if her precious isn’t hired for a campaign? (Gigi may not be able to walk either, but at least she’s a versatile print model — unlike her sister, also a dead-eyed zombie.).

    • whatWHAT? says:

They weren’t (as I know you know).

she’s just an entitled privileged person who doesn’t recognize that she is privileged.

and “more power to ’em” is almost NEVER uttered as a compliment. It’s much more of a “well, it’s not for me, but you do you, boo” and is used in kind of a condescending way.

these Ks are so used to having people hang on their every word and the sycophantic fans and producers that they will just say stupid things without thinking and assume people will think “OH MY GAWD HOW BRILLIANT AND PROFOUND”.

    • Xi Tang says:

The Hadids are also nepotism models but I have a hard time lumping them with thi a**hole. Bella walks many runways throughout the year. And both her and Gigi have a reputation of being very professional and they’re beloved in the industry.

      • Betsy says:

This. I don’t so much mind nepotism when it’s backed up with chops (and let’s be honest, modeling and acting are two fields in which who you know and are protected by is HUGE).

  7. Loopy says:

She can afford to do less as she has other avenues to make a lot of money. Even Kourtney who only relies on her kuwtk cheque said ‘work is not her priority.’

  8. jwoolman says:

Apparently Kendall Jenner is the highest paid model in the world now?!? Is that even possible? She isn’t doing a lot of work and just seems so dull in comparison with so many others, including those “no-names” ’working 70 shows.

Kendall just seems so lifeless. Is she even really interested in the job any more? Would she have such jobs if not for Kanye West’s connections and the free publicity that comes along with her family?

Kendall doesn’t need the money and so of course she can do a much reduced workload to maintain sanity. That’s marvelous luck. I wonder if she fully realizes that and how different her life is as a result. She keeps saying the strangest things and has to backtrack after people point out how strange her words are. Does she just feel unfairly victimized, or does she realize how clueless she has been?

And has she ever taken real modeling lessons? She really should be working with at least a good tutor. She can afford it.

    • Kitten says:

Is she seriously the highest paid model?

      *bangs head against desk*

      • Pandy says:

How is that proven? I don’t believe it.

      • Hoot says:

Unbelievable as it sounds, I found this (dated November 21, 2017).

“Forbes‘ annual list measured income for top models from June 2016 to June 2017. Here are the 10 high-earning models who made Forbes’ list this year:

        Kendall Jenner, $22 million.
        Gisele Bundchen, $17.5 million.
        Chrissy Teigen, $13.5 million.
        Adriana Lima, $10.5 million.
        Gigi Hadid, $9.5 million.
        Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, $9.5 million.
        Karlie Kloss, $9 million.
        Liu Wen, $6.5 million.”

    • bears says:

I still remember her running around being an awkward tween on KUWTK. No way am I predisposed to view this entitled little brat as anything resembling an actual adult with real thoughts or motivations. She’s a vapid little condom drip that was allowed to exist because her opportunistic mommy thought (correctly) that she might be able to sell it someday. She has, thus far, given no indication that she deserves to be thought of otherwise. Moving on.

  9. Muffy says:

Can we collectively decide that the entire K family is over? Passé? Has-beens? Let’s let them fade into obscurity already.

  10. BlueSky says:

Was that dumb Pepsi commercial taken out of context too? 🙄. Have a stadium full of seats, Miss!

  11. Hazel says:

She’s always misrepresented. Remeber the Pepsi advert? I think that was her reason as well.

When you have success, money, and fame handed over to you, you have no sense of perspective. And anyways, I find the whole Kardashian-Jenner lot vapid anyway, so not surprised by this. They need to disappear, like yesterday.

  12. Newbie says:

Out of all kardashians i have never liked kendall because her personality is arrogant and ignorant. She is entitled to the point that she is blind to her own privilege. I’m glad that it has consequences for her. You see a big difference between kylie and kendall’s understanding of their lives in the public eye.

  13. Missy says:

I think the reason she is “taken out of context” so much is because she doesn’t understand any life but the rich life of privilege she grew up up. She probably never wanted for anything, she didn’t have to work to become a model or anything else that comes her way. I don’t want to say she sounds dumb in her interviews but I’m saying it lol

    • STRIPE says:

THIS!! I believe she didn’t *mean* to disrespect anyone but she is so clueless she doesn’t realize how she sounds. She’s bragging about how much work she has and turning down work, work that she was offered and can turn down because she was born into a famous family.

Her words weren’t twisted. She just doesn’t realize how privileged she is.

    • HeyThere! says:

This is exactly it! When you come of a place of such privilege, she simply doesn’t ‘get it’.

Looking forward to a time when people stop caring about what Kendall says. Lol Hopefully that time is soon? Walking runways is a hobby for her, not a job. If she quit waking runways tomorrow she would be fine.

  14. Patricia says:

I’ve been saying it a lot, she is really really REALLY the worst. She’s an A-hole brat of the highest order. She makes her sisters look like sweethearts (and actually I think Kylie truly is a sweetheart so it makes Kendall look even worse).
She doesn’t know how to do anything but complain and whine and put other people down. She should stop trying already. Stop being an a-hole in public and then apologizing while not actually taking any responsibility.

    • ChipnSticks says:

I agree. Her tweets about “I get to experience firsthand their tireless commitment, …” is SO condescending! She’s absolutely putrid.

      • Kathryn says:

Yes — as if she’s not even part of it!

      • Sigh... says:

The same person that wrote those tweets is the same “rep” who spoke for her = Pimp Momma…cuz Kendall’s only language is spoiled, uneducated dullard.

  15. Betsy says:

Why are you denigrating the work that models do? It’s not perhaps important work, but most of us aren’t neurosurgeons. I don’t denigrate those who work, even if it’s a field of frippery.

Except maybe brand ambassadors for tequila no one’s ever heard of.

  16. Miss Margo says:

I think Kendall is incredibly uneducated. Not very many kodels liked her to begin with, then she says that?! Wow. It’s going to be awkward next time she’s on the runway!!

  17. Betsy says:

She’s so dumb. She has no look, no face, her dead eyes glaring at the viewer. She has no presence. I’m not a model, never will be (unless they develop a plus size category for short, angey-looking women! Then you would all be reading the rambling comments of the next Naomi, lol), but I can appreciate that it’s a field in which you need talent, hard work and a lot of luck.

    Ken-doll just has the luck.

    • BrutalEthyl says:

I would absolutely buy that line! Work it Girl!

      • Betsy says:

That’s one of my powerball dreams, actually – a capsule clothing line made in America for sizes 0-30.

Angry looking is optional here at Betsy Clothing Laboratory. 😂

  18. Bea says:

The Kardashian-Jenner way. Say or do something offensive and then backtrack without accepting full responsibility. Wash, rinse, repeat.

  19. minx says:

She looks a little like Emily Rata… in that bottom pic.

    • Kitten says:

A little? They’re basically indistinguishable at this point. Except for the boobs, I mean.

  20. HK9 says:

Other models wouldn’t say that because other models had to work and couldn’t rely on nepotism and family money. Idiot.

  21. P says:

    Dumb girl

  22. Michael says:

So ignorant. So stupid. She just can’t help it, she was born into it

  23. My3cents says:

I canceled her when I read somewhere that she skipped paying for her meal at a restaurant and when the waitress ran after her she threw the money at her.
That tells you all you need to know about her mindset- bratty, spoiled A-hole.
Recently she had the incident where her dog unleashed attacked a little girl in restaurant-and surprise surprise she fled again.
Out of all the Klan I think she’s the worst.

    • Kathryn says:

I agree!!! I’ve read too many stories like that where she seems to be a pretentious brat. Out of all of them, she seems the worst to me too.

  24. Lisa Giametti says:

Her stupidity isn’t shocking, but the transformation of her face is. Wtf is she doing to herself? That is not her original face. 😁

  25. SlightlyAnonny says:

They aren’t her peers. They’re her betters.

  26. Rainbow says:

I used to read The Fashion Spot a lot and learned what most models go through. Many runway models don’t even get paid in cash. Sometimes they’re just given some items from the brands they walk for and most of the time the money is paid several weeks later, and almost all of it goes to their agent (flight expenses, booking, etc) and their apartment rent. They can’t speak up because designers like Lagerfeld and Prada can blacklist them from the industry altogether if they say anything that can be considered disparaging. Kendall is already so lucky in that regard that she can give her shitty opinions and is actually given a platform to do it repeatedly.

So for models who doesn’t have a celebrity name to back them up, and models who don’t get the big break a la Karlie Kloss or Gisele or Naomi, or those who don’t get to marry as well as Natalia Vodianova has done, or those who didn’t get to finish school because they come from very poor backgrounds in Russia, China, Ethiopia, Brazil, etc. their beauty is their only way to support themselves and their families. And that means doing countless go-sees and runway shows. Modeling isn’t just “posing in front of a camera” and people who denigrate models because “they’re beautiful, and that means they’re already lucky and privileged” have no idea what they’re talking about.

    • OriginalLala says:

I have a model friend – honestly it sounds like an awful industry to work in. She is pretty but really really photogenic (she does print modelling) and while yes, it was beauty privilege that got her a modelling contract, she basically is always being told that her look isn’t right, that she needs to lose or gain weight, get a new nose etc etc. It massively messed with her sense of self. Plus she has some messed up stories about how young models are treated by older men.

    • Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

Hi @Rainbow, former TFSpotter here! What you’re saying is so accurate.

  27. Bubble bee says:

Ken dull is so dumb. Also she’s really trying to steal em rata’s face.

  28. Kathryn says:

I think it’s pretty clear that Kendall is not a nice person. There was a lot being said on twitter after this by fellow models who say they’ve never seen her at a casting, when she gets to the showroom to be fitted everyone drops what they’re doing so she can be out in twenty minutes (rather than waiting hours like other models) and when she arrives to a show she sits as far away from everyone as possible. Compare that to say, Gigi, who has said on record about how her mom taught her how models leave their families and their countries and scrape by with no money and how much respect she has for them. I think it’s a big case of upbringing, spoiled vs. a sense of gratitude.

  29. Q T Hush says:

Well at least Kendall is the one who got the looks, the one who needed the least PS to enhance her physical attributes, but got gyped in the brains department. I predict a backstage frost at her next show and she deserves it.

  30. Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

Kendall’s back again with her Skendall… You know, if only she would think before she speaks…unfortunately as a celebrity your frankness and honesty comes with a price.

Kendall should take a step back and take a long break from the limelight. Alas, PMK would not allow it…

  31. Seriously says:

She is so out of touch with reality, she is just there because mommy dearest paid for a PR team to build a career for the spoiled brat.
Kendal, the hadids and kaya are there just because of their parents and privilege.
There are way better models and way more professional and stunning than those privileged girls (Sara Sampaio, Barbara Palvin, Emily , Stella maxwell, the list is huge, all of them work harder and don’t make so many stupid comments about everything)

  32. Lala11_7 says:

Another example of how PURE ENTITLEMENT…rewires your brain’s infrastructure so that you no longer have access to the part in your head where your common sense and logic lies so that you can readily use it….when it is needed and KNOW when that need arises…

  33. Kitten says:

I mean…I kind of get it.
I think Teddy Quinlivan’s statement was pretty good, especially where she pointed out that for some people, modeling is their only chance to escape their current circumstances. No doubt that a modeling career can be a ticket to a better life. I get that, I really do.

That being said, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes a bit at the characterization of modeling as such a terribly hard job that doesn’t pay well. I have no doubt that a model’s schedule can be incredibly grueling, but for many of them it’s a choice. When I think of the many jobs that are grueling and challenging and require long hours of work and crappy pay, I have to say: modeling isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.

And I look forward to Kendall being dragged for this. What an asinine comment to make about your industry peers.

    • Chem says:

You know they don’t get paid for doing those 80 fashion shows, they have nothing to eat, photographers sexually abuse them, casting directors tell them they are fat all the time, they have to wait locked in a room without food to do the castings for hours and hours and then Kendall arrives at the casting and she immediately can enter, that is if she goes to casting. Whatever money they earn they have to send to their families, etc. Check Cameron Russell’s instagram page, she posts confessions that models send her.

    • SK says:

Yeah this is a common misunderstanding and mischaracterisation of modelling. Modelling often IS a really gruelling, tough job with little to no workplace protections. There have been some excellent essays on Jezebel about this as well as some decent documentaries. Many models are roped in young or from poor backgrounds and attracted by the high paychecks. Then their agencies charge them insane amounts for everything under the sun and most of them end up in a really terrible cycle of debt. Agencies will stick 6 models in a 2 bedroom apartment and charge them all full rent. They will have pro shots done and model hooks made with no thought to keeping costs down or getting the best price and ship them out using the most expensive couriers and charge that all to the model’s “tab” which they then have to work off. A model might pick up some lucrative work but not be paid for it for anywhere up to 3 years. The ones who do ALL of the shows are worked to exhaustion during the seasons – often without any provisions for food. Credit where credit is due, these girls work HARD and many of them do not end up with much to show for it, or even in debt, because the whole industry is set up in such an awful way.

    • AmunetMaat says:

Kitten, but aren’t vast majority of us in chosen field, that shouldn’t be tossed into the argument. I mean I chose to become a teacher regardless of the atrocious pay, long hours and hard work. I hate it when teachers remark about their working conditions and someone inevitable says, “well you chose it”.

    • Kitten says:

Thanks for all the replies (I know the conditions of the modeling industry–it’s been talked extensively around here) but I stand by what I said.

“I mean I chose to become a teacher regardless of the atrocious pay, long hours and hard work.”

Please tell me that we aren’t comparing teaching to modeling. My SIL is a teacher, both of my BF’s siblings and his stepfather are teachers. Models don’t go into modeling to change the world or even change one kid’s life. It’s a superficial, vapid, soulless industry and most people that sign up for it do so because they hope to make some quick cash while pursuing other goals–it’s not their passion. Others get into it because they want to be rich and famous.
There’s certainly nothing wrong with being a model, but let’s not pretend that it’s some noble profession.

    • Cindy says:

“It’s a superficial, vapid, soulless industry and most people that sign up for it do so because they hope to make some quick cash while pursuing other goals–it’s not their passion.”

Let me guess, you’re basing this entire opinion of the fashion industry off Devil Wears Prada and Zoolander?

I wanted to write a longer reply to you, because I worked as a model during my teenage years and early 20’s and both of your comments made my blood boil. But I’m too old now to be engaging in online fights. Just know that you sound even more ignorant than Kendall. The fashion industry is NOTHING like they paint it on TV. It’s both a lot more brutal, and a lot less vapid than one would expect. A lot of those photographers, makeup artists and designers are expressing themselves artistically through their creations and models are the canvas that bring their art to life. People (understandably) associate fashion with characters like Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld, but they hardly represent like a 1% of the people working in the industry.

Are models changing the world? Well, no, but cashiers at banks are working to make a corrupt rich corporation richer and I don’t see them being demonized or not taken seriously.

  34. Bishg says:

I’m pretty sure she doesn’t even care about her modeling career, since she doesn’t seem to be interested in anything that could be remotely tiring / challenging. For those who take it seriously, modeling IS a hard job.
My opinion is that Mama-Pimp forced her into pursuing a modeling career, because she was the only tall and lean/ pretty-ish of the KK bunch and it seemed the easiest thing to do. BUT it’s like Kendall did the bare minimum, she always looks bored and uninspired in all shoots. Why do they still book her? She has zero charisma!
Gigi was also born into wealth and privilege, but at least she’s -by all accounts- graceful, very professional, always has a positive attitude towards her job and peers.
I follow some models on IG and Gigi seems to be genuinely friends with most of them- they leave comments on each other’s profile and they always support and encourage each other.
The fact that Kendall barely has any friends -inside or outside the fashion world-speaks volumes to me.

    • Prissa says:

@BISHG – so true. And she really didn’t even want to be a model at first. I remember years ago when Kim took her to learn to walk she wasn’t even remotely interested.

Her career has definitely been handed to her.

  35. Megan says:

Oh goodie, we get to see her crying on the next season of KUWTK because everybody is mean to her? Can’t wait!

  36. Prissa says:

Her cluelessness and privilege reminds me of Caitlin. She’s a chip off the old block for sure.

  37. Mumbles says:

They say that a lot of Gisele’s success as a model was due to her willingness to take any gig, and show up on time, be professional and courteous – habits she continued until she semi-retired. That this little snot who’s had everything handed to her to belittle the idea of taking any gig you can to make a living makes my blood boil.
And if her comment was taken verbatim, as most interviews are, I can’t see how she was “misunderstood.”

    • Leigh-Klein says:

Same with Janice Dickinson. Say what you will but she worked damned hard for at least two years in Europe just to get anyone to notice her. She finally got a pantyhose photo-ad and later saw it on the side of a bus in Paris and was over the moon. She took anything and pounded the pavement hard every day. And back then she had to work extra hard because then she was considered “too ethnic-looking” to get even a Vogue cover. Back in those days it was Gia who had her career handed to her, and girls like Janice had to work like dogs to stay afloat. Kendull isn’t any different from the rest of the K-Klan. Keep your mouth shut, you brat.

      • Lala11_7 says:

I never thought that Gia’s career was handed to her…Gia was blessed by the GAWDS with her looks and her magnificent relationship with the camera…and she was lucky regarding her timing and the people she knew who could exploit those truths for her…and THAT’S the essence of being a top model…Gia didn’t come from an entitled background…didn’t have a magical “in”….and Gia’s Mama pushed the HECK out of her…to her detriment too…No, I think Kendall is different..if PMK hadn’t used ALL OF HER LEVERAGE…which is extensive to foist Kendall up on stage and in magazines…there ain’t NO WAY that she would be known as a model…so yea, Kendall’s career..handed to her in a gift box with a pretty bow…Gia’s career…lightening in a bottle (which is how most top models are found)

Gotta agree with @Lala11_7 about Gia. She had a rough background and all, and had to battle a lot personally even though she was good at what she did. She went off track due to drugs.

PMK really went the extra mile for Kendall, but I also think that Kendall has some talent and a natural beauty with her. She seems like the only “legitimate” kardashian, but that is still used very…very…loosely. Kendall really needs to ghost everyone and stay out of the spotlight.

      • Leigh-Klein says:

@ Lala11_7 I meant compared to models like Gia, models like Janice had to work damned hard for what they achieved. I forget how Gia got her initial appointment with Wilhelmina but that’s all it took, one meeting, and it took off from there. She was much in demand because of that relationship with the camera and the “dark” looks she was so good at, but she didn’t work nearly as hard as some of them did at all.

They need to black-list this little twit!

I bet if she got them all a Pepsi she could make it and the world ALL better!

    Oh, Ken-dull.

  40. hogtowngooner says:

God, what an entitled, bratty, spoiled, arrogant, pretentious, vapid, born-on-third-base-but-acts-like-she-hit-a-triple twat. She swans into modelling because she’s tall, thin and has a social media following and a famous last name, but acts like those who have worked their butts off to be in the same show are less than her. On top of this monstrous attitude, she’s HORRIBLE at walking a runway.

Thanks PMK and Caitlin. Real winner you raised, there.

  41. Mew says:

I think Kendal is very anxious and not very good with interviews and stuff, it’s pretty obvious in KUWTK. It’s very much possible she blurts out things she doesn’t really mean that way.

  42. Ladygyms says:

I think what she meant is that she wants to take a zen approach to work and not be overwhelmed by all the things they have to do. To some working all the time and bringing your A game is important it may not be to her maybe she will like to experience other things since she can why not. She did not cause those other models to come from poverty and if they can work their way to the top good for them does not they are better than her just different. I don’t see a problem here

  43. Naomi11 says:

Cue big sister KK coming to her defense….

“Kendall really meant xyz and she’s shy and anxious but the world’s greatest person!”

Just because she’s nicer than the rest of you doesn’t mean she’s a decent human being.

  44. Hildog says:

Sorry I only have a short work break, but I had to say….I know this family does not value a traditional (or any) education, but I really wish she would properly capitalize her “I”’s. That is all.

  45. Jen says:

No one in her family understands the concept of hard work because they haven’t had to. They all claim to be so hard working while they have assistants doing the real work of running the businesses, nannies for the kids, housekeepers for everything else. All to be called “self-made” and have their momager billed as “the most hard working.” News flash- her abilities to exploit her offspring and push her very young daughters into altering their bodies through surgery is not a goal for most people.

  46. Sid says:

Does she realize that if not for the fact that the fashion industry adored Kanye, she never would have had the opportunity to walk these runways and get these magazine covers? The Kardashian (and by extension Jenner) name was practically trash among high fashion industry types before Kim hooked up with him. For her to be so dismissive of the models who actually have to hustle in order to be able to make it just vile.

  47. lucy2 says:

If I were the journalist who wrote this interview up, I’d be pissed. This idiot thinks she can say whatever and then just complain she was misquoted? Hopefully there’s tapes.

  48. Tw says:

She really is Katelyn’s daughter, isn’t she?

  49. paddingtonjr says:

She is so completely useless. I have a grudging respect for the Hadid sisters; nepotism let them in the door, but they seem to work hard at staying in the room. Kendall has no concept of work and has contempt for her “chosen” profession. Models, especially those starting out and/or from foreign countries, are seduced by the glamour and money but have to work hard and often to make a decent living. Like many arts/sports/entertainment professions, only a small percentage get to the level of being able to choose or refuse assignments; for the rest, it is a struggle, but it is their only (or best) way out of truly dire situations. A true professional makes the most of even the smallest, lowest assignment. Kendall will always be a novelty model and not a true professional.

  50. Gistine says:

What do you expect from this joke with the fake face, nose, lips, etc.? I have cancelled just about every magazine that has stooped so low as to put that farce on their cover – or in their magazine. She is hideous and drowning in hubris. I DETEST these people and their vile ilk.

  51. Linda Reid says:

She has no clue about real life. I feel sorry for her. But not in a nice way. In a pitying, condescending way.

  52. Littlefishmom says:

All of those “supermodels”, except maybe Cindy, were such spoiled, bratty, bitches. They treated people terribly. If you come from nothing and work hard and attain super success, remember how you got there and treat people with respect. Kendall shouldn’t have said that, yes, but let’s not act like this has never happened with models before.

  53. Rainbow says:

Runway models are also in a really tough spot. Those who go “commercial” and endorse everyday products like shampoo, or even pose for catalogs, are no longer considered high fashion and have a hard time getting booked for haute couture runway shows. Most models choose the runway as opposed to commercial work, even though commercial work pays more money, because they’re all vying for that big break: to be chosen as exclusive models and shoot ads for Chanel, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy, YSL.

Tyra was talking some sense when she’d commented on ANTM that a contestant didn’t have that high fashion look or was “too commercial”. Tyra herself has personal experience about getting turned down for jobs in Europe.

Only a few models can afford to switch between commercial and high fashion. Someone like Gisele can model for Pantene and still endorse Versace, YSL, etc. But even Gisele didn’t do that until she was past her peak and many people in the fashion industry still looked down on her for doing so.

Kendall really has no idea WTF she’s talking about because her privilege clouds her brain.

  54. Fifi says:

Kendall you had to buy your looks to even be considered conventionally attractive enough to be a model. Don’t forget that.

Face filler, eyebrow/eyelid lift for your hooded eyes, liposuction to get a smaller waist, who knows what else. Her crappy entitled, smug attitude make her so unappealing to me. She was so ordinary naturally unlike her sister kim who was stunning before she had any surgery. Not a fan of kim or the kardashians but I will admit that.

    Ugh make her go away.

  55. Kellay says:

As if she knows what the word immeasurable means. Kris Jenner’s minions are working overtime to make her sound like she isn’t a spoiled brat.

  56. SM says:

I kind of feel bad for her. She is an ignorant and spoiled brat. But that means that she not only never had to work hard for what she has but she also grew up in a family where famewhoring was prioritized over education, and self promotion over curiosity about the world, so I have no problem believing she feels like she was missunderstood or her words were twisted because she probably struggles with expressing whatever she has on her mind.

  57. Sexecution says:

Kendall is the dumb one in a dumb group. Room temp IQ. Without Kris they’d all be cocktail waitresses in the valley.
