Susan Sarandon says words about Donald Trump, Debra Messing tells her to STFU

43rd Toronto International Film Festival - 'The Death and Life of John F. Donovan' - Premiere

I think everyone who has read this blog for the past three years knows how I feel about Susan Sarandon. I cannot stand her. My hatred for her is visceral at this point. It didn’t have to be this way, but she went off the friggin’ deep end during the 2016 election and she never looked back. She went all-in with Bernie Sanders, and then when Bernie stepped aside, Sarandon spent the next five months or so telling everyone that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are “the same,” or worse yet, that Clinton was actually a worse candidate than Trump. She ended up endorsing Jill Stein. Then post-election, Sarandon completely abdicated responsibility for being one of the moronic third-party voters who bear partial responsibility for Trump’s election.

Post-election, Sarandon has also been taking credit for… like, doing her part to get Trump elected, because now people are “awake.” She does not realize that millions of us were “awake” before the election, and that her purity vote is soaked in blood. Sarandon was at it again at TIFF, talking about how because of Trump, we now have more people involved in the midterm elections or something, so credit to him. And credit to Bernie for something too, I honestly can’t follow her stupid train of thought.

After Variety posted that video, Debra Messing – who is now Susan Sarandon’s ancient enemy – went OFF. I won’t embed the tweets, but here’s what she wrote:

STFU SUSAN. Oh yes, PLEASE let’s give Trump CREDIT. I mean how else are you able to walk out on the street. Convince yourself that that this CATASTROPHE of a President who you said was better that HRC IS NOT ripping children away from parents seeking asylum, holding children INDEFINITELY in internment camps with their new policy, DESTROYING all attempts to protect our environment (yes the water you properted to care about), endangered animals, taking away women’s ACCESS to health care and legal abortion, trying to block POC from voting with extreme Judges who will support jerrymandering efforts, not to mention destroying ALL good will and allied relationships across the Globe.

Oh, and lest you forget Syria, Crimea, and putting PRO-RUSSIA agenda BEFORE the United States best interests. YES, do go on And LAUD the effect Trump has had. Out of DESPERATION & PANIC for the DESTRUCTION of the Soul of our country. But you don’t want to look at THAT part of the equation. Because then you’d have to admit you were dead WRONG running around bellowing that HRC was more dangerous than Trump. Only a self righteous, narcissist would continue to spout off and not – in the face of Americans’ pain and agony -be contrite and apologize for your part in this catastrophe. But, you do you Susan.

[From Debra Messing’s Twitter]

Yeah, team Deb. What an awesome moment. She said it all. Except Susan just had to get the last word:

Susan Sarandon has some f–king balls. It’s like she doesn’t even realize that Kavanaugh would not be up for a SCOTUS seat if Donald Trump had lost the election. If only those super-pure protest-voters hadn’t voted for Jill Stein in Pennsylvania, Ohio, etc. Oh well, Susan. Maybe you should try doing what Debra suggests: shutting the f–k up.

Yes Debra Messing SAY THAT!!! Yes! YES!! I want more of this across the board. Call these sh*theads OUT!
Susan is so effing condescending and removed from any real consequences of this horrific administration. It’s obvious her life is untouched and she has no compassion for people of color or anyone else affected by this horrible time and this disgusting President.

  2. Tate says:

I wish she would just go away. Damage already done.

    • pottymouth pup says:

the Bernie or Busters are all out on the attack against Messing – they’ve beatified Sarandon the same way they beatified Sanders. One noted he was so digusted at the horror show that Clinton would be & stupid democrats for foisting her on us that he voted for Jill Stein – and he actually said something along the lines of asking if he is now part of the RUssia conspiracy. umm Jill Stein was right across from Putin & Flynn at that gala honoring Putin and she gladly aided the disinformation campaign so, yeah dude, you voted for Putin!

  3. Maya says:

    Speechless 😶

Well done Debra and Susan, there is a special place in hell for complicit people like you.

Debra – do point out to Susan that both Bernie & Jill are being investigated for possible coalition with the Russians.

    • Clare says:

How fucking patronising and dismissive is her response, though?

Referring to Messing as ‘Debs’ (a diminutive used for someone who is NOT her friend), and carrying on with the ‘get yourself self righteous’’ And ‘now you’re riled up’ tropes to present Messing as a hysterical woman.

      Disgusting woman.

    • holly hobby says:

Yep Bernie and Jill were part of the grand Russian plan. I wish Bernie would go away too. He is splitting the Dems up again. Right in time for the elections. That creep.

      • funfactor says:

Where did you hear that about Bernie? Jill I can understand, but Bernie? It’s not even on Snopes.

  4. Bea says:

YES! Finally, someone in her own circle tells off that raging idiot of a priviledged narcissist.

  5. Cidy says:

God SS is such a bent narcissist.

  6. Lightpurple says:

She would tell him to START OVER! I would tell him to RESIGN & GET YOUR BLOATED ORANGE ASS OUT OF MY WHITE HOUSE & MY UNITED STATES &TAKE YOUR CRIMINAL SPAWN WITH YOU!

And she’s still stuck on her damned revolution. People die in revolutions, Susan. I see how you’re willing to sacrifice others but not yourself. Debra’s right STFU

    • ByTheSea says:

      +1000

And “revolutions” take years and organizing to happen. Meanwhile, we (women and people of color) are getting our rights rolled back at an alarming rate. Meanwhile, the coal and oil are accelerating global warming and resultant health issues as Orange Anus rolls back regulations designed to slow down damage. Meanwhile, income inequality becomes a bigger issue as he gives enormous tax cuts to the rich. We don’t have the time to fight a revolution as we’re struggling just to survive!

    • EllieMichelle says:

I’d tell him something much nastier, you are very restrained 🙂

  7. Belluga says:

    I knew I liked Debra.

I wonder if SS realises she did shit and is desperately trying to spin or if she’s completely oblivious.

    • smcollins says:

I always liked DM, now I LOVE her!
As for your question, I think it’s safe to say it’s the latter. I used to think SS was kind of a badass but that has been completely squashed over the last couple of years. Ugh…so disappointing.

  8. Kaye says:

I remember when Susan Sarandon was somewhat admirable, seemed to hold thoughtful credible opinions, spoke out for women.

What the heck happened to her?

  9. Lorena says:

Debra is right. Susan Sarandon is really dumb, I can’t see her movies anymore.

  10. Becks1 says:

    GO DEBRA!!!!!

  11. Lucy2 says:

Wow, Debra with the burn! Well said, Ms. Messing.

Susan is being narcissistic and can’t admit she was wrong, so she’s just going to keep doubling down on her initial stupidity.

  12. Endoplasmic_ridiculum says:

Please resume playing ping pong Susan. It’s the only back and forth you’re good at.

  13. grabbyhands says:

Sarandon is the textbook example of tone deaf white feminism and liberal ignorance. It doesn’t shock me at all that she’s still out there saying this shiz because she’s part of that “the end justifies the means” mentality, so as far as she’s concerned, if a few more people vote, then that makes this whole nightmare worth it. She hasn’t been touched by the damage he’s inflicted so far and she won’t be when this continues, or if he manages to steal the 2020 election, so as far as she’s concerned, it’s all good. It’s all just collateral damage that she doesn’t have to deal with (but that she’ll be happy to take credit for because you know, she’s just so woke)

    • Goldengirlslover34 says:

Exactly. You said it better than me. She’s peak white female privilege wrapped up in a rich velvet bow. The same woman who would come to me as a black woman and try to explain to me how racism works. I didn’t realize Debra Messing had this fire but get it girl! Sometimes you need to tell someone to STFU

    • Betsy says:

If it helps (it won’t), as a white woman I find her to be disgusting, deplorable and stupid, an embarrassment to her race and sex. I just cannot imagine someone who is so incredibly blind to reality and is so incredibly loud about it. She’s like a white man in a work meeting: nothing to add, but convinced of the need for his addition.

    • tealily says:

She’s so far removed from what day-to-day life means for most people, it’s like she can’t see that people are actually suffering RIGHT NOW as a result of her actions personally. Wtf is wrong with her? I loved Debra’s dig about the environment. What end game are you playing, Susan? The damage is done!

    • Kath says:

Slight correction: peak RICH white feminism – as in, someone who never has to worry where their next job/paycheck is coming from, or if they can afford to keep paying the electricity bill.

      Disgusting, clueless individual.

  14. Darla says:

The embodiment of white feminism. A privileged idiot high on the smell of her own farts, if you don’t mind my being blunt.

    • Betsy says:

Be blunt. Perhaps if we’re all blunt with her, it will trickle down to the manure pit she dwells in.

      • Jerusha says:

Nah, nothing will penetrate her self regard. Good for Tim Robbins for getting out, whatever their breakup entailed.

    • Goldengirlslover34 says:

Hahahahahahaha. The visual made me laugh so hard. He as blunt as you want to be. She will still make excuses and deny it.

  15. Tiffany says:

Just FYI, SS redid her tweet after this story broke. She had nothing about Doughboy in the original.

And, SS is shocked that there is a rich, white woman out there calling her out. She is at a loss of what to do. You wanna bet she tried to get in touch with Debra’s people for a sit-down.

  16. BooRadley says:

Yes Debra. Her post original will and grace days have turned me into a huge fan from Smash (RIP) and The Mysteries of Laura (which was pure joy for a cop show) and then everything she has said and done since 2016. Debra can get it!

  17. Rescue Cat says:

So what have we learnt and what do we do differently next time around to beat Trump?

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Vote for Democrats. Ignore 3rd parties no matter how seemingly appealing (and I know they can be). Vote for Democrats at every single level of governance in every single election, and then hold their feet to the fire once they have power. Don’t take anything for granted this November election and vote for Democrats.

Oh, and send money to candidates running close races, too.

      Also, run for something.

    • Parvati says:

      1. Vote for Dems at every election. Stop the “purity tests”. Voting for third party candidates is meaningless in the USA.
      2. My biggest frustration is with the voters who stayed home or voted for Stein. How has that helped?
      3. Democratic party also needs greater reform. Stop being a centrist party. People want progressive leadership. They want hope. Stop trying to appease GOP. Run strong campaigns. Champion racial , sexual and gender equality, affordable education and healthcare, emphasize environmental conservation and building just, sustainable societies/cities.

      • Rescue Cat says:

        Totally agree.

      • Kath says:

I would disagree slightly with #3. Many areas DO want progressive leadership, but not in conservative red districts. Running a democratic socialist in Kentucky is not going to work – all it will do is make people continue to vote Republican.

The Democratic party needs to be flexible enough to have a mix of far-left candidates in blue/purple areas, but also run centrist, less ‘scary’ candidates in red areas where they might have a chance of unseating sitting Republicans.

      • Cranbee says:

“Democratic party needs to be flexible enough to have a mix of far-left candidates in blue/purple areas, but also run centrist, less ‘scary’ candidates in red”

        Kath’s got it right.

  18. Nancy says:

So ironic for me. I liked SS bc I loved Thelma & Louise. I didn’t care for Debra because I hated Will & Grace. I learned a lesson, don’t mix fantasy with reality and politics and religion are topics that can make or break friendships. Susan Sarandon grew old, but not wise and I can’t stand to hear her endless babbling and then ask us not to blame her. Since I can’t tell her, thank Debra for doing so.

  19. Caty says:

‘Stepmom’ is a classic PMS-ugly-cry movie and now I can’t watch it because I shoot side eye at Susan Sarandon the whole time.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

We can find you another ugly-cry movie, honey … not to worry.

Love Affair – Deborah Kerr, Cary Grant – probably the master class in ugly-cry.

  20. Kitten says:

As someone who is in a relationship with a Berniecrat/DSA dude I can tell you that they are not going to let this go.

He just told me the other night that he wants Bernie and only Bernie. I offered several other choices of viable candidates and he was “no” to all of them. I wanted to flip the dining room table over. I have tried to delicately explain again and again why Bernie is not a good candidate for 2020, how (generally) women of color are not enthused to vote for him, how many HRC-supporters are still salty about 2016, and how much baggage Sanders has (hello, Russia?)–all to no avail. The hardest thing for me is that he IS a reasonable person but loses all rationale when we talk about Bernie, which is exactly why we rarely talk about him–it almost always ends up in a fight. Sigh.

    • Nancy says:

It’s never a good thing to have strong political views that differ from your significant other, especially at this time of turmoil in our country. As I said above, politics can make or break relationships. Good luck…

    • Cee says:

Fanatism is never a good thing, whether for Trump or Sanders. All reason and logic goes out the window with them.

      • Kitten says:

Precisely! It’s tunnel vision, plain and simple. What’s wrong with Kamala Harris? “She was a cop and she’s too centrist.” Anybody I suggested, his response is “not progressive enough.”

        Gah.

        It’s so frustrating.

      • Jessica says:

Omg are you dating one of those fanatical Bernie bros. Sorry as a black woman I can’t stand them.
Also Harris is a lawyer. Why do they keep calling her a cop, when we can see their lies. That shit will only fly with fanatics and is the kind of deliberate misleading propaganda that will continue to alienate black wonen from Bernie. You know the 97% who has dems back that he actually needs to win a primary. I actually think his followers are doing more damage than him with their hatred of anyone not called Bernie.

Btw you can tell your Boyfriend Harris votes with Bernie 95% of the tone. Her voting record is the most progressive in the senate. Those are stats from various voting record sites. Both warren and Harris have more progressive voting record than Bernie. (His gun troll and arms votes are not progressive, he also voted for the 94 crime bill that’s responsible for the high incarceration rate of poc and Vermont has the highest rate of black men incarcerated of any state , cop unions in Vermont endorsed he basically layed off them so he could get their endorsement. He’s as pragmatic as any politician if it advances his career but for some reason those bros think he’s an idealist.. . Berniie has a lot of work to do to convince poc especially since he keeps dismissing identity politics and generally seems to think economic justice will fix racism -Sweden says hello!) .
Sorry for the rant. But I can’t with those bros.

      • Nancy says:

Jessica: That wasn’t a rant. It was an eye opening education. Silence isn’t golden any longer. You have to call out the injustices and corruption or nothing will ever change. Preach!

    • Enn says:

I mean this with complete kindness, but I couldn’t be in a relationship with someone like that. In the interests of transparency, I had serious discussions with my husband ahead of the 2016 election because he wanted to write in Biden, and I ended up sobbing and telling him that I didn’t know if our marriage would survive that (I was an HRC vol and killing myself giving every spare hour to GOTV). We enjoy an immense amount of privilege as a straight, cis, white, middle class married couple. I felt, and still feel, that it’s our responsibility to vote strategically to protect those who don’t have that privilege.

To me, there was just too much at stake for throwaway votes.

      • Kitten says:

He will vote for whoever the Dem candidate is, period. That much is a certainty. He actually switched his registration from Green (I know, I know) to Democrat when he moved in with me last month (I’m still Independent). That being said, in Massachusetts we have leeway in terms of voting because we are such a blue state so technically he *could* do a write-in (but he won’t).

But in my comment, I’m referencing the discussions we’ve had regarding a viable candidate for 2020. He wants Bernie and no one else. It’s the only thing we ever argue about in what is the best relationship I’ve ever had (I’m almost 40) so no, breaking up isn’t an option 😉 But yeah, I hear ya..We are ALWAYS talking about politics but I rarely bring up Bernie because of what I stated above.

      • Enn says:

As a 40 year old, I hear you. But we also thought Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh would keep PA blue and they didn’t.

I personally want Kamala but I don’t think she can win. Too much racism and misogyny seething throughout the country.

      • Kitten says:

I meant to add that ITA with everything you said in your first reply to me about privileged people stepping up. White women blew it in 2016. We HAVE to make amends.

And you are absolutely right that we should never take anything for granted, particularly because we KNOW the GOP will do anything to win, including gerrymandering, unregistering registered voters, pushing Kavanaugh’s nom forward ahead of the midterms, Russian interference…no state should be considered “safe”.

      • Lilly says:

@kitten I don’t think I could do it, but I often catch myself mid-rant when friends ask me about relationship stuff, I say: “wait, don’t ask me, I’m single and there’s probably good reasons for that.” I know something called compromise is important, but I don’t know too much about that. So best to you and yours and from what I understand the long haul view can be pretty satisfying.

    • Jerusha says:

Does he know that Bernie will be about 107 in 2020? But, seriously, we have plenty of those clowns here in Mobile. They yammer on about their progressiveness and they slam Doug Jones because he hasn’t turned into Abbie Hoffman. This is Alafvckingbama!! Doug barely beat a kiddie diddler by 20,000 votes. They’re infuriating.

      • Kitten says:

Hahaha..I know right? Plus he just has SO much baggage. There is a small, nasty part of me that wants to see Bernie become a candidate so he can endure the BS that HRC went through. Because you know they have dirt to dig up. You just know it.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Gah, Kitten, I know how important this relationship is to you so it sounds like focusing on the BF’s ideals is the way to go. Bernie won’t always be so visible. It’s hard when people get stuck and it’s the same psychological mechanism that gets a lot of otherwise “reasonable” people stuck on Trump, too. Hard to admit mistakes when people go all in…so keep an eye on that.

I find a lot of self-proclaimed ‘progressives’ to be as self-absorbed and out of touch as people in the right-wing. When the middle drops out of the body politic, things get ugly.

      • Kitten says:

Yes exactly, WATP. The worst is when I try to tell him that there are many WoC who are simply DONE with Sanders and he takes it SO personally. I’m like “I’m just telling you what I see” and his reply is always something along the lines of “Well you’re wrong” as if I’m just making stuff up. He really is a wonderful man but holy hell, the Bernie obsession is so bizarre and yes, it does remind me of the fanaticism of Trump-supporters.

Veronica’s comment below “It’s very easy to romanticize revolution when you know money and resources are available for you to escape the inevitable violence and social breakdown if necessary” is what I was trying to explain to him last night when I said his opinion is coming from a place of privilege. I didn’t articulate it as well as she did, but that didn’t stop him from reacting defensively. Sigh.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I feel you Kitten. My husband is a die-hard Republican. Not about the social platforms but the security, infrastructure, state’s rights…all that. I, too, was a Republican in my 20’s. Then I grew up lol. I’m registered independent, but the past two years have been detrimental to my psyche and physical well being. I literally loathe the right and it’s disgusting manner of placating and its complicit bullshit. When I try to disassemble the party into individual beliefs, mantras, hypocrisies and antiquated ideals (which are never adhered to in any of their personal lives anyway), he goes all general, sweeping and ubiquitous ambiguities they like to fall back on. It’s like they can’t stand the magnifying glass and want us to use wide-angled, panoramic surface views of the party without stripping away the top layers. So I won’t discuss politics anymore with him. If he wants to be simple, fine. I’m an all-encompassing woman and parroted talking points give me migraines and digestive issues lol.

      • Kitten says:

Lols yeah I completely understand. It is REALLY hard on a relationship–especially given our current climate–to have divergent political stances with a significant other. It really sucks to have a topic as important as this one marked as “off-limits” but sometimes it has to be that way in order for the relationship to survive. Never easy though…

      • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I always think of Matalin and Carville. How in the world do these two manage their personal lives? As opposite political consultants, I was enamored in their story during the 90s. It’s nice to see them still going at it, but do they turn it off? Their careers would indicate living and breathing politics so who knows lol.

    • Caitrin says:

Kitten, I am low key dying to know what your guy thinks about Julia Salazar.

  21. Esmom says:

I love this headline. In fact I wish more media outlets would use such direct headlines.

I was rolling my eyes as usual at her but when I read her Kavanaugh comment I immediately saw red. As if Debra can’t call her out and use her energy to fight his appointment. Gah, I was having a nice morning and now I’m pissed. Again.

  22. Cee says:

Sarandon has been cancelled. I will stream every single Debra Messing content I find on Netflix Latin America over the weekend.

    • Tiffany says:

The Wedding Date is one of my favorite fluff films.

      • Cee says:

Mine too! I still have the DVD and I know it was recently added on Netflix, so Il will watch it again and hopefully support Debra through streaming rights or however it works lol

      • Jan90067 says:

I love that movie, too 😊 Hmm… think I’m going to have to binge some DM movies/shows this weekend now lol

I LOVE that she called out that damned hypocrite. WTG DM!! WTG!

      • Nicole(the Cdn one) says:

OMG – I thought I was the only one! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie. Amy Adams is amazingly annoying as the sister and the chemistry between Debra and Dermot Mulroney is amazing. And Sarah Parish has the bests lines ever in a movie.

  23. Jerusha says:

I stumbled on Debra Messing’s twitter before the election and she’s been fighting the good fight ever since then. But, you would not believe the ungodly number of people yesterday who were taking SS’s side and dismissing DM as a dumbo and a corporate Dem shill. These are the people who, in November, will pull that “voting my conscience” sh1t again. Then they will sit around, all puffed up, saying, “It’s not my fault you didn’t run a combination of Emma Goldman and Che Guevara.”
When all is said and done, I know who’s on the right side of history and it’s not Susan Sarandon.

    • Thaisajs says:

      This. 100 percent. Go DM!

    • Who ARE These People? says:

A combo of Emma Goldman and Che Guevarra … too right about that. Extremists and idealists don’t make great politicians, and red-diaper babies don’t have any more right to foist their blinkered vision on the larger population than do Tea Party people and Klansmen.

That said, today’s Republican party is not centrist: It’s a radical theological party of kleptocracy filled with rich and raging Social Darwinists.

  24. adastraperaspera says:

At this point, the only conclusion I can come to is that Sarandon is being paid off to spout this nonsense. As for representing feminism in any way, just NO. She is a rich white lady, who has done nothing to advance equality for women. It is unfair to legions of true feminists that she keeps insisting she is one of them.

  25. Veronica S. says:

It’s very easy to romanticize revolution when you know money and resources are available for you to escape the inevitable violence and social breakdown if necessary.

  26. holly hobby says:

Go Debra! Susan should just shut up seriously. I don’t want to hear her anymore. Also Jimmy Kimmel was right about DEMS eating their own. Look at this. You have a bunch of people who only want to vote in “purists Dems.” There is not such thing. No one is perfect. People have to be pragmatic about this.

  27. Shh says:

Lordy. Until she admits she was wrong to split the vote after BS lost to HRC, she can go play pingpong.

  28. tealily says:

You know, I’m sick of the “call your senators” call to action as if it means we’re actually doing something. Yes, I call my senators constantly about EVERYTHING, but I live in a profoundly red state and my call isn’t doing a whole heck of a lot. I just get email responses saying “thank you for your input, this is why I’m doing exactly what you asked me not to do.” It’s infuriating. I’m sure she feels like she’s making some kind of great impact telling people in blue states to call their dem senators and vote how they were planning to anyway, but that does exactly nothing to solve this problem. Give me a break, Susan. The impact you could have made happened on election day.

    ETA: Still call your senators.

  29. JRenee says:

As we are 2 years away from the next Presidential election, the folks who “voted their concious” are not getting that the division is why 45 is in office. It’s so tone deaf and frustrating!

    • notasugarhere says:

Two months from the Republicans taking it all in a walk (because polls were wrong about Trump), getting 3 Supreme seats, and 6 solid years of Trump. As suggested above, ignore all third party, vote in every damn election, and vote solid Democratic. Every election counts.

  30. Addison says:

    Woo Hoo! Messing!

  31. Jessica says:

Sarandon is not a real revolutionary. Real revolutionaries make sacrifices. Sarandon and that entire Bernie or bust white bro group are fake AF. Posers. It’s poc and poor people who are affected on a daily basis by this administration.

Angela Davis a real revolutionary, held her nose and voted for HRC because she knew 45 would be disastrous for the black community. To paraphrase kanye “Bernie or bust bros don’t care about black people”

  32. ladida says:

I dumped my boyfriend because he voted third party. True story.

  33. Nibbi says:

Wow. Gotta say I’m surprised & impressed by the sheer intensity of Messing’s ‘pique.’ No pulling punches just ‘cuz she’s a celebrity too… Good on her, the fireball.

  34. wtf says:

I just came here to say….
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    and

    HA!

  35. Natalia says:

Maybe this sh– is one of that reasons Tim Robbins bailed.

  36. Helen says:

Meh..Sarandon was giving a backhanded compliment to Trump when she talked about all of the women he inspired to run for office. Watch the entire statement not the cut version. You’ll see Sarandon wasn’t complimenting Trump. The left are canibalizing each other.

    • Cranbee says:

The Republicans are very good at sticking together lock ‘n step even when they are morally wrong or overstepping against the wishes of their own voters, ie. dismantling ObamaCare. Of both major Parties internally fracturing, the repubs will pull back together sooner while the left will still be on the first course.

  37. North of Boston says:

“Now that you’re riled up, use that energy to call Collins, Murkowski & those Dem Senators still on the fence & tell them to #StopKavanaugh https://t.co/0G2MCpVpgi

There is so much wrong with Sarandon’s position, aside from the fact that is made me pleased with D Messing and I generally do not like D Messing.

But this bit irritates me. Why is it that, out of the entire majority of Republicans in the Senate, people only focus on Collins and Murkowski and hold them accountable. How about we all call the other 49 Republican Senators and the 2 Independents and hold their a**es accountable too. Yeah, I know, lost causes and all.

But that doesn’t mean they get to not feel the heat of their idiotic complicity with Trump and his destruction.

If Kavanaugh gets confirmed, it is not just the women from Alaska and Maine who should get the blame, but Every. Single One. of. Them, from bobble-head Mike Pence and his deciding vote to his second in command Orrin Hatch to Mitch McConnell and his rule-bending black-President disrespecting hypocrisy all the way down to the newbies from Mississippi, Sen Hyde-Smith and from Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl. Each and every freaking one of them owns their own vote, and their own decision to choose to support Party over Country and the interests of President Don-boy Trump over the interests of the American people and democracy.

History will NOT view them kindly, unless they start standing up for the country and the Constitution.

I KNEW there was a reason I liked Debra Messing. What a woman! Looking forward to her next lethally-aimed and on-point put-down.

Also: Kamela Harris for Democratic Party nomination.

I don’t agree with Susan Sarandon. But I am TERRIFIED by the way people are acting like these grown women aren’t entitled to speak their opinions, just because those opinions differ from your own. Given the times we’re living in, one party is getting an awful lot of the blame for suppressing freedoms of speech and expression while another is doing the same exact thing to those who disagree. No one is a better person for this. Let’s engage in civil discourse and learn about our differences instead of shutting people down and creating echo chambers. That is destroying the country from within.

      THANK YOU!

      Echo chamber indeed.:(

    • Deering says:

Hoo, boy, ZoeM. Sarandon can say whatever she wants. But people are under no obligation to let her ignorance pass uncommented on. You put your business in the street, and the street has every right to comment on your business. And that “both sides do it” shit is the reason the right-wing has gotten as far as it has. No, both sides are not right here.

  40. Deering says:

I’m not a Messing fan, but she’s dead right here. Nicely played.
