Ben Affleck source explains why he leaves rehab every day & it’s what you would expect

BGUS_1336002_006
Do you know how Ben Affleck keeps getting papped outside his house despite the fact that he’s going to a rich people’s rehab with its own workout facility and could easily go to a nicer gym that’s closer? Well it’s ok because he gets a pass from rehab and his doctors have signed off on it. This news is in People Magazine, which has been carrying terse quotes from Ben’s side and even has an insider quote about his relationship with 22 year-old model Shauna Sexton. The other outlets which typically have quotes from Jennifer Garner’s side, like US Magazine, ET Online and E!, have barely covered Affleck since the first time he was photographed outside his house last week. This speaks volumes about Jennifer Garner’s stance on Ben. It’s like she’s not even trying to control the narrative anymore. I would bet she even asked that coverage be reduced at this sensitive time. Here’s People’s quotes about Ben.

Although Ben Affleck is currently receiving treatment for alcohol addiction in a Malibu treatment center, the actor, 46, is permitted to leave the facility during the day as prescribed by his treatment team.

“He has a specialized program to suit his needs — meetings, working out, reading, therapy,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Everyone’s journey with addiction and treatment is different and built for the individual. [Affleck’s] is a good mix of mental and physical work. This is what was outlined by his doctors and team..

“He recently put in a gym at his home and is most comfortable there,” adds the source of Affleck’s trips home. “Ben continues to work hard on himself and is committed to his rehab program, which includes a daily routine of multiple meetings and indoor and outdoor exercise”

[From People]

That’s what we assumed. How is that reassuring of his commitment to sobriety? “It’s ok, he has a pass.” Of course he does, and they’re implying it’s his treatment team’s idea. Ben is the one paying this bill, he’s probably staying in the most expensive room they have and getting all the available extras. Of course the rehab is bending over backwards for him.

Earlier this week there were more “no kidding” quotes in People about how Ben and Shauna are “getting to know each other.” While reading these brief quotes I’m picturing Ben’s PR team sitting around a table. One person is holding their head in their hands, another is shaking their head, and a third is shrugging like “what are we going to do?”

“Ben and Shauna met about a month ago,” a source tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “They’re just getting to know each other.”

[From People]

So they’re getting to know each other and meanwhile Shauna is staging pap walks and posting increasingly revealing photos to Instagram. I mean that’s her job, no shame in her game. Plus when she inevitably fades from the headlines she’ll have enough followers to get sponcon posts. It’s not a bad strategy. How do you think she hooked up with Ben in the first place? Do you think he contacted her on Instagram? He seems like the kind of guy who messages young models on social media until he gets a bite. He’s not that active on Instagram or Twitter publicly, but I bet he gets up to all sorts of things behind the scenes. He wishes he could live like John Mayer but he wants Matt Damon’s family man image.

Points to Shauna for this post:

Is he in rehab for alcohol addiction or sex addiction. He seems to suffer from both. Not a serious Jennifer fan, but she was rather saintly to put up with his shit for so long. What you won’t do for your children, he is included as such I imagine. Can’t miss those booty calls.

    • Raven says:

Please stop with this notion that Ben is sex addicted, he’s a cheater plain and simple. Jen is not a saintly for putting up wirh Ben.

      • Earthbound Misfit says:

The object of one’s addiction is irrelevant. Addicts conquer only choice of addiction, not addiction itself.

    • Chaine says:

Why is a separated guy having sex (or so he wants us to think) with apparently the same woman over a month’s time, after having broken up with his long term girlfriend, equated with sex addiction? If we count the nanny, that’s a total of three women he’s linked with in the past three years. Other than cheating on wife with nanny, he seems sort of like a serial monogamist if anything.

    • Nancy says:

Sorry girls. Never gave it that much thought. Just know he did the Nanny, and the now defunct girlfriend. Don’t really care what he does.

  2. Agirlandherdog says:

I’m in love with that dog. That’s all I’ve got on this.

    • Nancy says:

He has a little 🖤 on his belly!

I missed the ❤️ and went back to look: instant smile! Your comment gave me the first smile of the morning (and I’ve been up for over 2 hrs!), thank you!

      • Nancy says:

Aww. It is hard to smile knowing what the people in the path of Florence are going through. Breaks your heart. We have to get in every little smile we can. People can’t usually get the job done, but the heart on the tummy of sweet doggie sure can. Happy Weekend Jan!!

    • Leigh-Klein says:

I love that breed and have had nothing but good and joyful experiences with them.

    • Bettyrose says:

IKR? This article needs new headline: Affleck blah blah there’s an adorable pitty in this post.

    • Erinn says:

YES. That’s the only reason I kept scrolling to the comments. That dog is so freaking cute.

So yeah, she’s happy for her 15 minutes of fame, but at least she’s also promoting adoption! I just love big, goofy, wide headed dogs. We have a german shorthair pointer who I love to death – but she has such a narrow face lol. And it makes her look so bratty because she also tucks part of her lip when she’s giving us sass. I call it the “pointer pout” – “german shorthaired pointer pout” gives you some adorable google image results btw. It’s like she sucks in part of her top lip and sticks her lower lip out in a literal pout.

But big goofy smiling pitbulls will always be one of my favorite things. My BIL and SIL have a tiny little one who the BIL took from her previous owner who was being awful to her. She’s extra tiny for some reason, but she’s hands-down one of the most “PLEASE LOVE ME” dogs I’ve ever ever encountered. So whenever we’re visiting I always give her extra attention because my husbands parents aren’t a big fan. And they watch her super carefully with the kids – but she’s SO sweet with my niece and nephew. She follows them around and just tries to lick their toes. I’ve never seen a hint of aggression or annoyance in this dog ever. She runs away from my MIL and FIL’s little yappy demon dog.

      • Nancy says:

Erinn: I love German Shorthairs! My father-in-law lives in another state. When I was first married, we visited him in Florida. He had just returned from a hunting trip (ah, it killed me), and had taken his two dogs with him. I love dogs. I went to the shorthair named Willow. Now she had just been working hard and traveling long so was tired. I was baby talking to her about her trip and I looked up and saw her two front teeth and I knew I was a goner! She bit me through my nose. I bled through I don’t remember how many bath towels. I would not let them punish her because I should have left her alone. I have no fear of dogs and I love Willow. But I learned a lesson….leave sleeping dogs lie! True Story

      I know, He is beautiful!

  3. Mia4s says:

Yeah Shauna doesn’t phase me. She knows what she’s doing and how to play the game. Affleck is the adult here who should know better *cough*. 😒

I get that they say he has an easier time staying sober when he’s working and busy (hence the mention of meetings, etc.)…but there are always going to be down times. Also what is he going to do? Work constantly to keep himself sober and never see his children? Mess. Mess. Mess. It strikes me that he’s used this rehab to detox, not get sober. As soon as there’s another setback (movie project doesn’t go well, relationship problem) he will relapse again. I’m basically certain of it now.

  4. jessamine says:

A gym? Um, I think they mean “he recently installed a permissive, thirsty 22-year-old at his home and feels more comfortable doing whatever he wants under her undemanding gaze”

  5. Leigh-Klein says:

Isn’t that what most everyone’s day consists of? I mean aside from the meetings, and maybe not everyone reads, but how is that “program” different from anyone else’s ordinary day? Still shaking my had at why this guy gets so much attention. He appears to have no personality, mediocre at best looks, moobs, I’ve never seen him smile – what’s the appeal. Totally don’t get it. Plus we know he’s a crass pig.

  6. Esmom says:

Not defending him but after reading an article recently in The Atlantic about how treatment for alcohol addiction is evolving, it seems plausible that they’d give him freedom. His current situation seems a little loosey-goosey and sketchy to me but who knows. Maybe it is working for him.

    • Raven says:

It’s not working he’s done this half ass rehab before and it didn’t work then snd its not working now. He basically staying at a glorified Spa, that has a gym tennis court pool and all the top notch amenities. He’s going home and what do you think he doesn’t home stay sober No course he’s drinking.

This is what Ben has been doing since the JLo days he goes to rehab for looks whenever he gets bad press for his drinking.

  7. southernbelle824 says:

He is playing rehab and this facility is a joke. They would not allow him to come home for workouts or even allow her to the facility. In fact, I believe he dried out, and is staying there till they finish remodeling his home. He is never gonna recover. I worked addiction recovery and he angers me when so many people actually want help and he can afford the best and makes a mockery out of it. He should be ashamed. The Canyon should be too. He is calling the shots on his program and that’s his problem. Plus he is more a Fame hoe than his ex ever was. I’d cut him loose, let him flop. He isn’t going to be around much longer if he doesn’t get real help. This chick is going to get a lot of attention and not necessarily good attention.

  8. Other Renee says:

Shauna was a vet tech and clearly loves animals, plus she promotes animal adoption. So she gets kudos for that. I find it sad though that she’s regressed from cleaning up animal shit to cleaning up Ben’s shit.

    • stacey says:

I get that this is her chance to strike while the iron is hot with the publicity around Playboy and Ben…a vet-tech is a honorable job but don’t they basically just clean up kennels and answer phones?

In May she wrote on her instagram “Me after 10 shots of Vodka ..living what I perceived to be “my best life”. Only to arise from an alcohol induced coma and realize that I have $13 in my bank account, & will be living off Cheesy Gordita crunches for the next week.”

I don’t blame her for her going for this as it seems to be her only way out of being broke since doesn’t appear she went to college for a professional career. I do think Ben is a total dirty old man for “dating” her though. I believe he has sex addiction and substance addiction and his life will continue to fall apart. He doesn’t seem like a good person. His eyes are mean.

      • Syd says:

Licensed Veterinary Technicians are nurses that work along side the DVMs in animal health care.

Truth is- the things they are capable of doing are amazing and they do it without being motivated by money (because people don’t want to pay for animal services) but instead, motivated by their love of animals.

        Me: Veterinary Hospital Manager

  9. Socks says:

I’m sure the rehab knows he’s not committed to sobriety and are just taking his money while they can. Just because he’s in a rehab facility, doesn’t mean they have his best interest (ie restricting him going home). Plenty of rehabs just want your $$.

    • Sigh... says:

And with his very public track record, any failure/relapse will be placed squarely at his feet (as it should), because I DOUBT they give refunds (as they shouldn’t).

He’s going back to the way it was: white-knuckle grip on his image, he calls the shots, young women at his beck-and-call, and Garner biding her (children’s) time…

    • BrutalEthyl says:

I worked at a state detox/rehab facility for awhile. Ben would be better off there than at this glorified full-service hotel. At least the state provided the treatment necessary to teach our addicts/alcoholics the skills they would need to stay clean and sober.

By allowing Ben to act like he’s special, it’s going to be a short leap for him to think his recovery is special, too, and he doesn’t have to play by everybody else’s rules. That thinking helps facilitate his eventual failure and relapse, and wash, rinse, repeat.

      • Still_Sarah says:

I agree with everything you said. I have known many recovering addicts and from what I’ve seen, “life at the spa” doesn’t get you clean. Ben isn’t special – he’s just another addict and when his money runs out (if it ever runs out), that’s what he will have to deal with. I don’t wish him bad things but this specialness crap is going to harm him. Addiction is progressive – it only gets worse if you don’t treat it.

  10. Aerohead21 says:

Anyone who dates anyone during this kind of situation needs to evaluate the basis of the relationship. Real love has friendship built in and a true friend would not let someone they care about compromise themselves, especially during times like these. Ugh. Thirsty girls. Thirsty guys. Take care of yourself for your kids, ok? Worry about love (and sex) after you get shit straightened out.

  11. Aerohead21 says:

Edit to add: I’m not trying to say either of these two are looking for love in the other, but fun times for people with Ben’s condition lead to other fun times…….like we have recently seen.

  12. Aerohead21 says:

I just basically called Shauna his gateway drug 🙂 hahahahaha not what I meant, but anyhow…

  13. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

My take is “Who cares?” I mean to say that if he is abstaining while going on these excursions, good for him. If he isn’t, well, that is his choice too, and he has to reckon with the fallout. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  14. Who named the dog? That sucks.

  15. RT says:

I guess he sleeps at the rehab center so he can say that he’s there and in treatment. But really, he’s spending so much time away from the place that even if he were serious (which he’s clearly not), it wouldn’t have any effect or produce any results. He only goes to rehab to detox when the press around his addictions gets too bad. He’s surrounded by enablers (Garner being the biggest) so he’ll never really recover. Too bad for his kids. He’s the type who should never have gotten married or had children.

  16. Carolnr says:

He is having all this special gym equipment delivered instead of a high fence installed? He has that god awful black curtain hanging in the driveway of a 19.2 million dollar mansion?! The neighbors must just love him!
Shauna is just loving all this attention! What are the odds that the dog is named Lindsay, lol!
This whole narrative may have been more believeable if the 22 year old Playboy model was not driving around in Ben’s SUV & papped coming out of Ben’s house!

  17. ncw says:

“This speaks volumes about Jennifer Garner’s stance on Ben. It’s like she’s not even trying to control the narrative anymore.”

Actually, It’s more like if Jen tries to control this narrative, she’ll end up reminding people of how clingy she is.

    • JoJo says:

Exactly. What’s the reason for holding up the divorce signing again? Because rehab sure doesn’t seem like a valid reason anymore. The man can leave rehab for hours each day – and date a 22 year-old at the same time! But hey, let’s not ask him to sign any divorce papers.

      • stacey says:

yeah at this point..i cannot figure out why these two insist on staying married. Ben has clearly moved onto other women. Is Jen okay with this? I guess if she doesn’t care if her husband is in relationships with other women publically and lives in another home away from her and their kids, thats her choice..but how sad for her daughters to see their mom be so pathetic towards their father

      • RT says:

I never believed that anyway, that his sobriety was the reason for not finalizing. That’s backwards and only an idiot would buy it. A person’s out of control addictions are the REASON to shield the kids, enforce legal boundaries and finalize. It was just Jen’s excuse to stay Ben’s ashes forever. It’s all she knows and really at this point, no normal, stable man would want anything to do with her codependent life anyway.

  18. MoGrianach says:

This is very common. Inpatient rehab is not for everyone. When my brother needed to rehab he tried residential a few times and it was never going to work. He then had an outpatient program that so far (15 years) seems to have done the trick.
