Jason Momoa is hot & goofy, but he also rips out pages in other people’s books

Jason Momoa inside for AOL Build Series...

If Aquaman is going to make any money, it will be because Jason Momoa is really good at doing promotion. He’s carrying the promotion on his back, starting with his hosting duties on Saturday Night Live this weekend. Momoa has been in New York most of the week, stopping by various media outlets, giving interviews and doing stunts – these are some photos of Momoa from his week in New York. He’s also done the most to promote his episode of SNL:

*fans self* That’s a quality thirst trap. He also seems to be putting on the charm, big-time, in the official promos:

And to keep up this theme of “Jason Momoa is hot, goofy and willing to do anything,” here’s a clip of Momoa playing with tridents on the Tonight Show last night:

And finally, to complete this Jason Momoa extravaganza, it’s time to talk about this story that his costar Amber Heard told about him on Good Morning America this week. Apparently, Amber spent much of Aquaman’s filming hanging on wires about 30 feet in the air. This happened for hours and hours every day, so Amber organized it so she could have a special bag made out of green-screen material, where she could hide her books and then read her books in between set-ups and takes. She was very happy with her book bag, especially because it meant that Momoa couldn’t get to the books she was reading: “He adopted this method of ripping out the pages of my book so I would pay attention to him. It would drive me crazy because I’d have 30 pages left and it would be gone.” That is one of the most monstrous things anyone has ever done. WHY WOULD YOU RIP OUT PAGES IN SOMEONE ELSE’S BOOK???

I’ve never understood the attraction people have to him. He does nothing for me. Not physically, and clearly not intellectually if he’s intimidated by…books

    • Beth says:

I don’t understand it either. I see nothing appealingly about him,but I know that not everyone is attracted to the same thing as everyone else

    • Nancy says:

He is gross. I never get the attraction either. But, I find Norman Reedus sexually attractive, and most women on this site think he is gross. I guess, like they say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I think most of us have a type. I go for tall and learn, while Jason obviously is beefy. Ick

      • Grant says:

I feel like Jason and Norman look similar in that they both look kind of greasy and unwashed.

      • Nancy says:

Norman keeps his hair the same year round for WD. Some say it looks greasy….the dude who plays Eugene laughed at a CC convention when asked if Norman “smelled.” He said he always smells good…..hmm. Don’t know what Jason smells like but he has that huge giant head with the weird eyebrows. He scares me. Blah.

    • Cate says:

Same here. I don’t find him physically attractive at all, sorry.

    • Boodiba says:

I feel like I can’t see him under all that hair. Perhaps the appeal lies in his somewhat evil looking eyebrows.

    • H says:

I meet him a few times when he was on Stargate: Atlantis and just starting out. Other actors on the show said he would show up and not know his lines and at cons Jason was always drunk on stage. Always. Extremely unprofessional behavior. However, Aquaman and Wonder Woman were the best things about Justice League, so I’ll wait for reviews to see if I buy a ticket for the movie.

    • Jerusha says:

I’ve always found him repulsive. Thought I was the only one with the love he usually gets here.

    • Bunchita says:

Same here. Give me Steve Buscemi any day. Yes, I know I’m weird.

    • petee says:

If you read his BIO he loves to read. And obviously he showers.I usually dont like muscular men but I wouldn’t mind him at all.

  2. smee says:

    he is my guilty pleasure

  3. Sparkly says:

Hotness levels plummet when I find you mistreat books.

But I’ve also heard (third hand, mind) that he followed some girl around at a con because she was the only one not fawning all over him and paying him attention. That makes two stories of harassing women because they weren’t giving him enough attention. That’s a disturbing trend.

    • Steph says:

      That’s creepy….

    • QueenB says:

Add his “joking” about “raping beautiful women”.

      • Sparkly says:

Yikes, I either missed or completely forgot about that. It looks like he at least released a (real, not faux) apology. Hopefully he is willing to learn and change. I’d hate to have to stop enjoying him entirely.

      • Veronica S. says:

To be brutally honest, while I wasn’t thrilled about that comment, I preferred that he actually called it for what he was rather than skirting around and pretending it was consensual the way the writers did. Because holy shit, are the writers on that show misogynistic AF.

      • CL says:

One would think that being Mr. Lisa Bonet would make him a bit more “woke”

  4. Nev says:

    Happening.

  5. eto says:

god he’s so unattractive to me, never understood the hype! plus it seems that any story that’s supposed to endear us to him just reveals his unfortunate character.

  6. Trillian says:

He’s fine as long as he stands there looking hot, but if he touches any of my books he’s a dead man.

  7. Darla says:

I think he’s going to be very attractive to studios after this. He is certainly giving it his all. He seems to love everyone.

I am excited about this film! But I am such a fangirl, I can’t wait for Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 either. I just love this stuff! I need my escapes these days, don’t judge me.

  8. Incredulous says:

That is not how you treat books. Booooo!

  9. Case says:

The only thing I liked about this story is that Amber made herself a special book bag lol. That’s cute.

  10. Deana says:

He is a beautiful man. I could look at him all day.

  11. cate says:

this is such a nasty thing to do. ripping someone else’s book apart for attention? what a childish punk

    • Almond biscuit says:

He could have left a note in that book.
      Or a silly drawing.
Or he could have given her a spoiler by telling her about the end of the book.

But nope, he destroys a book. Dumbest and low-intelligence move. Not to be admired but to be condemned.

    • Tiffany :) says:

For some reason, this story is disturbing to me. It reminds me too much of men who DEMAND attention from women, and when they don’t receive it, use force or their size to get their way. He was probably just being silly, but I’ve had too many experiences with men like this where there was dark undercurrent of a power struggle going on.

  12. Shelley says:

He is absolutely sex on a stick. Any other man would be cancelled for this. But he is just raw man stereotype and I like it!!

  13. Caity says:

If someone did this to a book I was reading you would never find the body. Never.

    • Lady D says:

I know you don’t need any help, but I’d help you dig and bury, or cut and wrap, I’d rent a boat and buy the chum, or collect the kindling… whatever you need.

  14. No way says:

Amber loves to read and i liked the part of a special bag to her books.
I love to read too, and if anyone would do it with me i would go furious, i admire amber for keep her cool

    • Jag says:

Agreed! I wouldn’t talk to the person ever again unless they apologized after I ripped them a new one.

  15. Jessica says:

    So hot!!

  16. Veronica S. says:

Look, I can deal with him. For all of his awful gaffes, he’s yet to have a #MeToo moment, and at this point, the bar is set that low for me. He wants to be unapologetic, dumb beefcake, let him. While there’s a part of me that shrieks internally over book damage, they’re clearly friendly, and there aren’t horror stories of his behavior coming out otherwise, so clearly she meant it to be a funny anecdote. Whatever. I’m letting him slide for this one.

    • SilverUnicorn says:

Same. I think he is incredibly hot and charming but he is rough on the edges.
He’s also not very bright, so I never really paid attention to the crap he spouts in interviews. I’d bet his publicist has like a million heart attacks a day with him.

I know a few people in Hawaii who have met him and none of them had anything bad to say about him.

  17. Lady Keller says:

Amber should spend less time reading and more time in acting lessons.

  18. Jessica says:

Sometimes he repulses me, sometimes I find him the unbelievably hot. Such is life. He looks like a fleabag idiot as Aquaman – but he was a magnificant Khal.

  19. Almond biscuit says:

Destroying books or art is a crime morally. Especially if somebody else wants to read or see the art in question. He just did it so she couldn’t read it. It is disgusting and repulsive especially if you consider that he is an artist and apparently he has no appreciation for books and culture (?).

She should take him to the cleaners, the man clearly wants a confrontation.

  20. Charfromdarock says:

I would be super pi$$$$$ed if someone ripped up my book, I am pi$$ed on Amber’s behalf.

I don’t care how hot you are.

  21. PitaBites says:

    CANCELLED!

  22. ans says:

What i’m the most curious about is the tone with which she told the story. Did she find it funny, or was the story meant to be as dark and ominous as it comes across in print?

    • Almond biscuit says:

I am surprised about that, too.
She was quite direct when she accused Depp of domestic violence.
And now she just laughs about Momoa destroying her book(s) to get her attention?

  23. Giddy says:

I wish that actors wouldn’t get in the way of my fantasies about the part they played. If Jason doesn’t quit saying and doing bonehead things, I’m going to have to give up my dreams of Khal Drogo wanting me to be his moon and stars. Kindly shut up Jason!

  24. Sonia says:

Jeepers people, he more than likely did it to get a rise out of her and kill the boredom. If someone did that to me I’d have a moment of GAH and then whoever did it would give the pages back and I’d finish the book.
I enjoy him. I like to look at him and enjoy his interviews and skits on SNL.
    He isn’t destroying priceless treasures.
