Jeff Bezos once emailed Gwyneth Paltrow with the subject line ‘Jeff Bezos’

I swear I wasn’t in a bad mood when CB and I recorded this week’s Gossip With Celebitchy podcast, but for some reason, I was calling everyone an “a–hole.” To be fair, they are all a–holes, especially Gwyneth Paltrow. Last week, she was promoting Goop in the New York Times. This week, she’s promoting Goop in Austin, at SXSW. Gwyneth went down to Texas (“how quaint!”) for a one-on-one conversation with Poppy Harlow. The quotes from this appearance are…classic Gwyneth. But she also told an interesting/strange story about Jeff Bezos of all people. Some highlights:

Gwyneth on ageing: “I am no longer in my 20s and 30s, I am 46 and I love being in my 40s. I think there is this incredible freedom that comes with a woman in her 40s and understanding that this is who I am and I’ve stopped worrying so much about what people think of me.”

Everything’s coming up Goop: “I have two incredible children who give me a full run for my money every day. I have this incredible company, I love my role and I love my team. I love the challenges that come with it. I wake up every day [and] my days are very challenging but I feel like I have a lot of agency and I feel so thrilled by all of the challenges and so excited. It’s just a really fun time. Plus I married a really hot guy in September, you know!”

She mentioned Jeff Bezos in an interview once: “In the Wall Street Journal, they asked me about my mentors, like you have, and I said, ‘Oh sometimes I, like, cold call people,’ and they said, ‘Well has anyone not called you back?’ And I said, ‘Yes, Jeff Bezos.’ So after that came out, I got an email and the subject was ‘Jeff Bezos.’ And the sender was Jeff Bezos! The body of the email said, ‘Hi there Gwyneth, the Wall Street Journal told me you wanna talk to me.’ So, I wrote him back and then he wrote me and then I said, ‘I would die for the opportunity to sit down and ask you a bunch of questions’ … and he never wrote me back.”

[From People & Page Six]

I genuinely laughed out loud at “I’ve stopped worrying so much about what people think of me.” Gwyneth has never cared what people think about her, because Gwyneth has always been convinced that she’s the coolest, smartest, most beautiful and accomplished person who has ever existed. Why would she care what some fat peasants think about her? As for “I married a really hot guy in September, you know”… I mean, I’m glad she’s happy with Brad Falchuk. I’m glad she’s his muse, lmao. But good lord, she really did have a big hand in breaking up his marriage and everyone is like *shrug* about it. Because Gwyneth.

As for the Jeff Bezos story, it’s sort of funny that Jeff Bezos sent her an email with the subject line “Jeff Bezos.” It seems on brand for him!

Oy vey! She’s a clueless beyotch, as always. The navel-gazing is strong with this one.

  2. Incredulous says:

    Of course she’s wearing beige.

    • NotHeidisGirl says:

And that color does nothing for her!
Also, I did NOT recognize her in the top photo…

    • sommolierlady says:

Vanessa, probably entering peri-menopause. No diets or exercise can sooth the peri-beast. I chunked up about then and lost the weight when I hit menopause .(Painfully for me , that took ten years.)

  3. Kebbie says:

    Love really is blind

  4. Mel M says:

This hairdo is not good and ages her significantly.

    • Wilady says:

She’s 46…? She’s not 20. If she looked perfect and 22 at her age, the comments would be full of the same negativity in regards to being nipped, tucked and botoxed. 🤷‍♀️ I don’t know what people expect.

      • Mel M says:

I didn’t say she needs to look 22 geez. I said that hairdo in my opinion ages her. She usually wears her hair down and looks her age but here she looks much older. Maybe it’s the weird center part of just the bangs and the rest of the hair in a weird pony tail. Maybe it’s something with her face that others have commented on but she doesn’t look herself to me. This is a gossip site after all and with GP constantly promoting herself and goop as the best of the best, ahead of the curve, and superior in everything health then maybe I should expect her to look 22.

      • Carol says:

I think Gwyneth looks pretty good in her beige top. But I’m wondering what she is wearing below the waist. She usually has a good look but screws it up with some balloon pants or crazy shoes. For 46, she looks pretty good to me.

    • Pandy says:

Agree, Mel M. She doesn’t look like her usual self and it’s not her best look.
That said, did she really think Bezos was going to give her advice for free???

      • Harryg says:

She did. She thought he’d be flattered to tell her everything just because she’s awesome Goop her highness.

    • Wilady says:

I understand. You didn’t say 22, I did. It was just an example. I do know this is a gossip site; I visit almost daily 🙃 I’m just talking about how she specifically gets crazy talk about her looks, and people seem to enjoy it when she looks like crap, and give others who are aging a soft place to fall with lots of forgiveness and understanding.

IMO she’s obviously out of touch with the ways your average human lives, but I don’t think she’s terribly toxic. Again, my opinion, but… she loves her husband and finds him attractive because it doesn’t matter if anyone else does (like most people), doesn’t wear Instagram makeup every day (like most people), kinda has hair oopsies and bad damage days (like most people), doesn’t stretch and pull her face when it starts to wrinkle (like most people), and tries her best to like her job when it gets crazy (like most people). I like her recipes even though I don’t do cleanses or wear $400 t shirts. Again, just me, but I’m ok if nobody agrees, too. That’s the beauty in the world! So many different people.

I’m going to be catty cause it’s it’s Gwyneth Paltrow and I think its allowed. If Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goopy advice on products, healthy diet and naturali supplements and such is so superior to all else why is she pumping her face so full of fillers. She’s so poofy. I have an infection in a tooth and her entire face looks as swollen as the right side of my mouth.

  5. Slowsnow says:

What this story is telling me is that Bezos and Paltrow are perfect for each other.

  6. billypilgrim says:

    Her face looks swollen.
    That’s all I’ve got.

    • PlainJane says:

Something weird happened to her face.

    • L84Tea says:

Yeah, as soon as I saw the photo I thought ‘what in holy hell is going on with her face??’

      • Good GRrrrrl says:

I met what who I thought was a smart young woman…until she told
Me she was going on a Goop Sponsored health/wellness girls trip. Beluchh. I’d need a cleanse after goop cult mind speak. Beluchh.

  7. Yup, Me says:

    I like her turtleneck.

    That is all.

  8. jules says:

I’m sorry, but I don’t find her husband attractive at all. He looks like Johnathon Cheban, that cling-on friend of the Kardashians.

  9. Jay says:

Jeff Bezos is basically like AI’s projection of what a human being would be and do and act like.

  10. Catherine says:

46? Lmfao. I need to see the receipts, she’s 50 right?

  11. MCV says:

Can’t stop thinking about that recent video of her skincare routine where she said that exfoliates her face everyday.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

You can but it depends on what you use, there are gentler exfoliates for every day use but if she’s using a scrub then yeah, its not great for your skin. And yes she does have bad skin, you can see it in the photo’s. it looks dry and if she’s wearing makeup its patchy.

  12. Canber says:

Goop deserves low shelf assessments, so here it is: she kind of aged into the face she deserves. She really doesn’t look good for her age.

  13. Lena says:

I remember back when she was still living in England with Chris Martin she did a vanity fair cover story and it was all about the backlash against her (this was around 2009) and she did seem to care about it then. Her excuse was everyone was jealous because she was so f— g great at her job. Her words not mine. But after all this time I’m sure she has stopped caring about what anyone says. We all get that way eventually.

  14. Milkweed says:

Did anyone else see her on SNL’s Weekend Update joining in on making fun of GOOP? It was weird.

    • jules says:

I didn’t watch it but I read about it. Sounds like she was basically making fun of all the stupid people who buy her crap and believe in her? So twisted.

  15. Looty says:

I honestly believe that the key to understanding Gwyneth Paltrow is that she care VERY MUCH what other people think, has her eye on what other people think of her night and day.

  16. Anna says:

What is with her face? It looks SUPER puffy??

  17. Bella Bella says:

I have friends who email me and put their own name in the subject line. Usually they put “From” before their name but not always. It helps the email pop out in a stack of emails and for me to know it’s something personal and/or important and/or work-related. Not so big a deal.

  18. Sel says:

Gwyneth is looking more like Martha Stewart here.

  19. Lena says:

Now she’s threatening to write a book on consciously uncoupling because she invented that too. Save me.
