Olivia Jade Giannulli was on USC’s Board of Trustees Chairman’s yacht this week

Lori Loughlin finally flew back to LA and surrendered herself to federal authorities yesterday afternoon in LA. According to TMZ, she made prior arrangements to surrender on charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, honest services mail fraud and more. She and her husband paid $500K to get one of their daughters into USC on completely false pretenses. She was processed pretty quickly and released on a $1 million bond. She and her husband both used their home to secure as collateral. Unlike Felicity Huffman, Lori didn’t have to surrender her passport – Lori made the case that she’s currently filming projects for the Hallmark Channel (Hallmark Channel: “we would like to be excluded from this narrative”) in Canada, so federal authorities are allowing her to travel out of the country for the limited purpose of work and work alone.

All of that was just the appetizer for this story though. Lori’s daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli, the same one who knew her mom and dad were bribing people and faking like she was an elite crewer, was actually partying on a yacht belonging to the Chairman of USC’s Board of Trustees when she learned her parents were being arrested this week:

As Lori Loughlin traveled from Vancouver to L.A. Tuesday night to surrender to federal authorities in the college bribery scandal — which got her daughter, Olivia Jade, into USC — Olivia spent the night on the yacht of the Chairman of USC’s Board of Trustees … but she’s off the boat now, TMZ has learned. We’ve learned 19-year-old Olivia was on Rick Caruso’s yacht in the Bahamas. Caruso’s daughter, Gianna, Olivia and several other friends were spending spring break in the area. Gianna and Olivia have been friends for quite some time, occasionally posting photos of them together on social media.

Caruso, a billionaire who has major real estate holdings including The Grove in L.A., tells TMZ, “My daughter and a group of students left for spring break prior to the government’s announcement yesterday. Once we became aware of the investigation, the young woman decided it would be in her best interests to return home.” Olivia is off the yacht.

Caruso was elected Chairman of USC’s Board of Trustees last year. We’re told the Board will NOT decide the fate of Olivia and other students involved in the case. That decision is left squarely in the hands of the University’s President. By the way, Caruso came out strong Tuesday in the wake of the indictments, saying, “The charges filed today against employees of USC are disturbing and the alleged activity is absolutely wrong. I am saddened that these people would abuse their positions of trust and, as the government has alleged, victimize USC in the process. There is no option other than zero tolerance for this type of behavior. As a result, USC has fired the alleged wrongdoers.”

[From TMZ]

Well, it actually sounds like Caruso was not on the yacht at the time? Like he allowed his daughter and her friends to use the yacht for their spring break? I really need to know the name of the yacht too. Let me see if I can find it… OMG THE YACHT IS NAMED INVICTUS. *facepalm* Brand ambassador and scheming fake-college student Olivia Jade Giannulli was doing Jell-O shooters on the yacht Invictus when her parents were being arrested.

Something totally superficial: I can’t tell if she’s pretty or just that over-make-up plastic face that has seemed to take over in the beauty world.

    • Myriam says:

Wipe that makeup off and she’s just another basic b in the world of celebrity offsprings.

    • Leah says:

Right. I got curious and went on the internet yesterday to see if I could find her “original” face. I found it. Clearly, the girl’s looks are of least importance here and not relevant to the happenings of the week, but I will note that the daughter’s superficiality all around is a great symptom of our larger social problems with greed, avarice, all byproducts of capitalism. We value what we can hold or manipulate with our hands.

    • Hannah says:

What makes me mad is that you could help a few kids who actually want to go to school with that much money…instead this makeup barbie got that chance.

      • Erinn says:

See, I don’t even find it fair to insult the makeup loving aspect of this. Her attitude though – is 100% free game, and it’s awful. She’s vapid, entitled, and not bright. Which is what makes it so disgusting. It’s one thing to try to market yourself in the beauty industry – there are some incredibly talented people out there who make their looks a priority- but they still manage to be well-spoken, kind, interesting people.

      • Jan90067 says:

What EVERYONE is missing, is the fact that this man, *CHAIRMAN OF THE USC BOARD OF GOVERNORS*, IS A *FAMILY FRIEND*, AND THEY *STILL* HAD TO BRIBE AND CHEAT TO GET THEIR DAUGHTERS IN!!!!!

This is REALLY too funny in a lot of ways!!!!

      • Ramona Q. says:

JAN90067: I have a friend who works at his new property in Pacific Palisades. He is there often and has about a thousand celebrity friends. McLaughlin is just one of many, many – it’s very possible they aren’t close enough for her to rightly ask for college admission favours from him.

    • Veronica says:

She’s got her mother’s looks, so I think she’s a fairly attractive young woman. She just insists on coating it with eighty layers of makeup that ages her about ten years.

      • Kitten says:

She’s very pretty. Her parents look like siblings so it’s to be expected that she would have those cheekbones. I hate everything about this disgusting story but I feel no need to attack her looks. But her terribly entitled, self-absorbed-celebuspawn personality is fair game.

All this media attention will probably get her a gig on some terrible reality show. Sigh. Welcome to America: 2019 y’all.

      • Dani says:

That’s…not her natural face. She had her chin shaved down and her now redone. She looks more like her mom after surgery than before. I couldn’t figure it out yesterday – something about her face wasn’t right to me – so I fell down the rabbit hole. I would feel bad, but not for this very obviously self absorbed little girl.

      • Khy says:

@dani She looks like she had cheek implants and a nose job.

      • Veronica S. says:

Holy shit, really? That just adds a layer of creepy parental narcissism to it.

    • ama says:

On each and every picture the same (vain) pose… *LOL*

      • Mari says:

I think she looks like she’s up to no good in every picture I’ve seen of her to the point I don’t find her attractive at all.

    • Louise says:

Nope, in one video, that I watched, she looked like Corey Feldman without all that make-up and photoshop.

      • ama says:

        Hahaha…please, were is the link?
I bet the Kardishans look like Corey Feldman too, when you catch them without make up. I bet they get up earlier in the morning and put on the gypsum, before their lovers see them … with their Corey look 😉
This posing!! Downtown it’s all you see, girls posing in front of old plague collums, doing the pouty lip… it makes even the prettiest gir loke ugly…

    • minx says:

I looked at one of her videos, the one where she’s going to her first college party. This girl loaded on SO MUCH makeup it was unreal. She doesn’t need it, no 19 year old needs that unless you’re going to a big formal event, and even then… And if you want a good laugh go to her Sephora palette comment section—a lot of irate customers who are dragging her privilege.

    • Arpeggi says:

She’s pretty, but I think she’d look prettier with her real lips, especially when talking.

The black & white pic really highlights the difference between her skin color (at the hairline) and her foundation, yikes!

    • Alyse says:

This.. every photos looks like she’s gone too far facetuning or something?? Lots of makeup and filters.

Actually think her sister is the prettier one!

As mentioned by OP, totally superficial! Though I suppose to people like Olivia, those are the things that matter most…

    • A says:

The over make-up thing is a trend right now among young people. I’d really be careful of associating that with superficiality because that’s really not true. There’s be a big movement towards being conscientious of what make-up and skincare does to a woman’s perceptions of herself, as well as peoples’ perceptions of women, and I’ve noticed that especially around young women in her generation. It sounds like it would be incongruous with the current Instagram trend and all, but people are remarkably self aware, and I’d be really careful of insulting young women who wear a lot of make up, because for many of them, it’s more a method of self-expression rather than a crutch.

That being said, this girl is superficial and unintelligent based on her actions alone.

  2. ds says:

I just noticed that she gained new followers. Yesterday it was 1.3m, now is 1.4. could be my eyes and brain playing a trick on me but I’d bet on it. now that’s sad.

    • greenmonster says:

I noticed the same thing before I read your comment. I had no idea who she is, so I looked her up yesterday. If memory serves me correctly she had 1.3 Million followers then.

      • Michael says:

But she is an “influencer” isn’t she? Influencing people to cheat and lie to get their way. Gawd, how can I get a gig like that?

      • Amy Tennant says:

Sadly, this will probably end up serving the girl’s ends. No such thing as bad publicity (that’s not really true, but it’s closer to true in the reality star/Kardashian era than it’s probably ever been before). More people know her name now, and I admit I went and looked at her vapid Youtube channel (i couldn’t make it all the way through a video, but I guess it counts as a click). She didn’t care about college anyway, but it boosts her fame, which in the long run is what she did care about. So congrats, Lori, I think you gave your daughter the career she wanted anyway at the price of your integrity and criminal record. She’ll probably manipulate this into some paid appearances/gossip mentions/mid-level reality show appearances.

      • Original Jenns says:

This makes me think of the E TV show “Pretty Wild”, which followed a couple girls on the LA party scene, one of whom was arrested in the first episode because she was involved in the Bling Ring crimes. It would have been a forgettable show but for that and definitely upped their profile. I have no shame in watching it because it was a GD mess and definitely a brain break.

I think with social media and the shallowness that’s encouraged, this will boost her for at least a little bit. Now young girls who have never heard of her are checking her out.

    • Mia4s says:

Eh, I don’t think to means anything other than people love a scandal and celebrity garbage. Most of these new followers would be looking for inside scoops or waiting to mock any apology she might post. Her sponsors will be quietly disappearing regardless, this is way too messy.

    • adastraperaspera says:

Possibly bots? Weaponizing a divisive outrage issue again?

    • Adrien says:

There’s a spike in R. Kelly and MJ music sales right after they were exposed as predators. I’m not shocked. People are obsessed with fame.

    • Mamunia says:

I went on her channel to watch her and she really is a vapid waste of time. Her new followers will quickly fade away.

    • This is typical when a scandal happens. A lot of people will follow an involved person so that if they take their page private you’ll still be able to view their posts. I know some journalists do that as well. I don’t think she’s gained a ton of new fans or anything.

    • Bishg says:

Sadly, this scandal and her parents’ arrest is probably the best thing that happened to her “brand”. She’s gained a name recognition that she could only dream of before. I bet her numbers will keep going up.

    • AnnaKist says:

The news reports down here 🇦🇺 can’t seem to make up their minds as to which number to go with – 1.3, 1.4, 1.7, 2.0 million followers, but they have been reporting that she’s lost a lot of “sponsorships”, if that’s the correct term. You know, I can totally understand why people tell some lies – we all do it when necessary. But we don’t all cheat, commit fraud and still pretend to be honourable people. And the girls are pretty, but need a good scrub. All that slap on such young, pretty faces is not necessary.

  3. Alexandria says:

    Lol that IG caption though

  4. Becks1 says:

My reaction to this headline – “of course she was.”

  5. grabbyhands says:

Sorry, but anything less than expulsion for these brats is unacceptable. They all knew on some level that they were not qualified to be there and that something shady had been done to procure their placements in these schools.

I’m reasonably certain that most if not all of them could give a shit about actually getting an education and any kid whose parent was willing to shell out half a million dollars or have someone take their tests for them in order to get into college is never going to have to worry about money anyway.

None of these billionaires needed to do this. Every last one of them could have basically purchased entry for their children in any number of ways that was more or less above board for all that they are reprehensible. They chose to use illegal and immoral means to get their precious wastes of space into schools they didn’t deserve to be at because of arrogance, so David Mamet and everyone else defending these people can shove it.

  6. James says:

Anyone know why Lori gets to keep her passport? I thought everyone accused of federal crimes had to surrender their passport.

    • Darla says:

She seems to be a very special gal doesn’t she? She just happens not to get arrested by agents with guns drawn at 6am. She just happens to be able to negotiate to turn herself in. She just happens to be able to keep her passport.

So special. It fascinates me in a way because to me she was always such a nothing. A bland looking bad actress who was in an old tv show I never watched. I had no idea she hangs around billionaires and is so special. Huh.

    • Jay says:

Not everyone. As the article explains, if you make the motion and the judge agrees you can keep it. I’ve had a couple of my federal criminal defendants be allowed to keep theirs for similar reasons.

    • Shrute’s beet farm says:

She’s contracted to work on Hallmark movies in Canada. The judge told her she could complete work on the projects she’s already contracted to, but once those projects are done she has to surrender her passport.

    • Myriam says:

Kaiser explained that she made a case to the judge that she’s doing Hallmark filming projects, which is filmed in Canada.

  7. Joy says:

I just don’t get it. Why not go to one of the million other schools in Cali?

    • boredblond says:

Maybe their trustees don’t provide yachts ..now I’m wondering about this caruso guy, his daughter and her pals (there’s more than one way to pull strings).

      • Megan says:

If she had a connection to a trustee, why did her parents need to pay a $500,000 bribe?

      • Esmom says:

Megan, good point. Normally I’d say a trustee wouldn’t be able to pull strings like that but USC seems to be rotten to the core. So I’m guessing she didn’t meet the trustee’s daughter until after she started at USC?

      • sealit says:

        Esmom,
I am a USC alumna and I was on the rowing team. Please don’t call my school rotten to the core. My friends and teammates worked our butts off. Rest assured we were not on yachts for spring break. I gave up all 4 years to train with my team.

      • Esmom says:

sealit, My apologies, I should not have phrased it that way. The corruption at the administrative level is alarming. My son is a collegiate rower — he had spring break training last week — and I’m fully aware that any university is more than just a few select corrupt administrators. I don’t mean to diminish your accomplishments at all.

      • Lynne says:

Keeps her close to home,,,,,,If you live in so cal there is a lot of business networking between SC grads. Plus the film school.

    • Tourmaline says:

They wanted to go to USC. For whatever reason. Part of it is where it is located–she probably wanted to be close to her parent’s multimillion dollar estate. Maybe part of it is the social life associated with USC (like the yachting trustees). Maybe they are huge USC Trojan football fans (I’m not kidding).
And whatever kids like this want, their parents will try to get.

      • whatWHAT? says:

USC also has a pretty well regarded film school, I think, so there’s that association, too.

        networking for future roles?…

      • Tourmaline says:

@whatWHAT? Yep- one of the families (not Lori Laughlin or Felicity Huffmann) had a kid that specifically wanted to get into the USC program founded by Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre (Iovine and Young Academy)

      • Amy Tennant says:

My daughter really wanted to go to USC specifically for the animation program. I don’t think that’s Olivia Jade’s deal though. I think she wanted the social scene (and she clearly did not want to go to college for any other reason than “games and parties,” according to her own words).

      • minx says:

Even with “help” she wasn’t Ivy League material, but I also think her parents didn’t want her in some podunk college town, either—even if an excellent university was there. She had to be where the action is.

      • Harryg says:

USC is really good. The film program is great. Only about six people were involved in this fraudster s***, it’s a massive school.

      • Anne Call says:

People are focusing on USC because it’s the school that the famous people wanted their children to get into. It’s very hard to get into now and if you are apart of the LA scene already, it’s a good fit. Has world famous film school. Coaches from UCLA, Stanford and Yale and Wake Forest were also implicated, so unfair to just target USC. Obviously most of these schools have thousands of very hardworking bright students who are thrilled to be going there.

    • Susannah says:

I remember reading an article about Goop ages ago when she was popular. She said she didn’t have the grades to get into college so her dad asked his friend who was an alumnus of UC Santa Barbara to get her in, that alumnus was Michael Douglas. She said she didn’t really care for college though and dropped out.
It sounded like he just put in a good word for Gwyneth but now I wonder if money exchanged hand there too…

      • Julianne says:

This is how you know you have real pull in this town. When no money is exchanged, just a friendly phone call.

      • H says:

My dream was to go to UCSB, but my dad said no I had to stay in state. And Goop dropped out of it? Makes me dislike her even more.

      • Anne Call says:

UC’s are more difficult to bribe than private schools and it’s true Michael Douglas went to UCSB and she may have used connections, but UCSB wasn’t too hard to get into back in the day (I went there-Go Gauchos). She also had an actress mother and famous producer father so that helped. And she attended a very elite private school, so that automatically opens most college doors.

  8. Annika says:

    Assholes

  9. BengalCat😻 says:

Her name irritates the shit out of me. I know it’s not her fault, but that’s the way I feel. And her makeup sucks too.

  10. BengalCat😻 says:

    Double post, sorry

  11. Meganbot2000 says:

What I don’t get is how someone can raise a child so poorly she grows up with zero work ethic or desire to learn, then turn around and try to force her into an elite academic environment she clearly had no interest in.

    • Shrute’s beet farm says:

It’s almost like Lori and Mossimo knew they hadn’t done a great job as parents and this was their (stupid-as-f*ck) way of making themselves feel better. I mean, the kid clearly had no interest in school and was only there for YouTube views and to placate mommy and daddy.

    • Jess says:

My thoughts exactly. It’s sickening that they didn’t bother teaching their daughters to work hard and take their education seriously so they could get into a great school, but they also turned them into raging spoiled brats who arent even grateful for the opportunity! I could ALMOST understand it if the girls were smart and truly tried but just missed their grades by a little bit, but they don’t give a shit so why bother going this far for them?!? I think Lori and Mossimo wanted bragging rights so they could come off as better parents.

      • Megan says:

She is a teenager with 2 million YouTube followers and a bunch of endorsement deals. She has clearly worked hard on building her brand. Frankly, she didn’t need to go to college as she already has a career. I think this about her parents’ egos and bragging rights.

      • Lynnie says:

Olivia is actually on the low end of successful influencer when you factor in her built in advantages. It’s even more sad when you realize that there is no standard for said “career.” People like the “catch me outside” girl have a bunch more followers (not bothered to look she annoys me), endorsement deals, and have released songs that have actually charted. Influencer culture rn means that anyone with either a modicum of fame or notoriety is going to get followers and deals. Olivia should definitely not be using this as her sole plan, because she’s not very good at it.

      • Kebbie says:

I’m curious how many of those followers are even real. If her parents dropped $500k to get her into USC, I’m sure they’d drop some cash to buy her followers too. Especially when those followers are then used to secure sponcon deals.

    • Dazed and confused says:

My guess is that the spent her entire life removing any and all obstacles from her path. Didn’t do your homework, sweetie? Mommy and Daddy will bully your teacher until she gives you more time with no penalty. Want the newest, most expensive phone? Mommy and Daddy will get you one right away? Awww, you broke it already? Here’s another one. There are plenty of parents who do this sort of thing for their kids and call it “letting the kids have a good childhood.” They just lack the funding to take it to such an advanced level. Lawn mower parents. It seems as though the lesson of learning by failing has been sidelined.

Meanwhile, there’s a kid in New Jersey who just got 17 college acceptance letters. He spent some time being homeless when he was little and that is what drove him to try and succeed. The story is all over the web. Lots of comments alluding to the difference between the two.

      • Anne Call says:

This. My kids grew up in Silicon Valley and the entitlement felt by affluent Type A parents was mind boggling. The kids never had a moment’s peace because they had to be best at academics and music and sports and volunteer in Ghana every summer. Bunch of my kids friends are now bakers, farmers and landscapers, trying to run away from the stressful life their parents forced on them.

    • M.A.F. says:

That is the hard cold truth with all of these parents: 1. they failed at parenting and 2. they didn’t believe in their kid.

  12. Lucia says:

I just want to point out that this is the same girl who didn’t have enough life skills to complete her college application on her own…

  13. sheilaj1 says:

They should all be expelled. However, prior to doing so they should give them the opportunity to re-take admission tests see if they would have qualified despite the parental shenanigans.

Let’s see how many actually show up to re-take those admissions tests. I’d bet zero. They’d be too embarrassed to have the truth come out.

    • Michelle says:

I agree with this 100%. Their permanent records should be flagged because of this as well. I understand probably some kids were oblivious to what their parents were doing, but I think in this case, she knew what was going on.

    • Dazed and confused says:

Absolutely! The NCAA gave Silvio De Sousa a two year suspension from playing basketball because his uncle/guardian got payments to secure his playing for KU. Silvio had no idea that it even happened. Seems to me, this should have a similar consequence.

  14. Valois says:

I‘m afraid none of these kids will get expellled due to some bullshit „we couldn’t prove they knew without a reasonable doubt“. I think all of them should expelled, even those who claim they didn’t knew. Doesn’t matter, you still didn’t earn the right to be there.

    • Veronica says:

Even if they didn’t legitimately know, they should honestly be expelled – the ones still in school, anyway. It demeans the work of other students at those universities to have to graduate alongside them. And it’s not like their fall won’t be padded by plenty of money.

    • ama says:

I am not from the US so don’t know much about admission policies, but even in far away Europe we know what it takes to get int Ivy League schools. And if you are part of the college rowing team and haven’t sat in a boat, not to mention being very good in it, you have to be very stupid to not realize that something is weird.
And how can you be part of a (rowing-) team and not attend the training session?

    • Lynne says:

I think if not expelled, peer pressure will force them out. Plus, better to drop out than be expelled. That stays on your record.

  15. Mophita789 says:

OK let’s not pretend college admissions are all merit based (legacies anyone?!). So my question is – you’re a successful vlogger with wealthy, famous parents and you have connections to those in important positions at the school – how bad do your grades and SAT scores have to be that your parents resorted to bribery?! It doesn’t seem like you need to be an A student to get in with those “credentials”. Get a private tutor, pull in some B’s, write an essay about being an entrepreneur and your acceptance will still be lame and unfair but at least it would be legal.

    • Tourmaline says:

Well, admissions are tough and USC is competitive. Lori and Mossimo, and all the others, wanted a sure thing, which was what the guy was selling them, due to the fact he had scammers getting bribes inside the USC athletic dept that would make admission a sure thing.

They could have offered USC a multimillion dollar donation to get in their good graces, but this scheme was a lot cheaper plus they could deduct it from their taxes as it was a fake charity.

    • noway says:

Thank you and the whole process is filled with inequalities. First, some schools place a huge emphasis on the SAT/ACT and one test score. Kind of ridiculous. It can be legitimately gamed with tutors, prep classes and private schools. Avenues some not so wealth and minority people don’t have. Second, just do the math, basically one test score, 3.5 years of school grades on a 5 point scale and one application plus thousand of applicants. Even if you use a matrix giving so many points to certain areas how many people do you think will be statistically tied or very close to each other. Probably quite a lot, and not everyone can go. Plus we have to stop with these elite schools being so much better and harder academically. Show me one study that shows that. I don’t think there is one.

  16. Esmom says:

She seems like the type who would be deep resentful of having her spring break interrupted by her mom’s arrest. Even if it was for fraud on her behalf. And something tells me they aren’t even capable of feeling shame about this.

Also, the funniest tweet I saw last night about the yacht said something like “Was she rowing it?” Lol.

    • whatWHAT? says:

      “Was she rowing it?”

      DEAD.

    • me says:

      lmaooooo

    • Veronica S. says:

Yep. Honestly, that’s why I don’t worry too much about all the online abuse she’s getting on her accounts. It’s not like she’ll ever have to pay any real cost to a criminal action of this scale, despite being personally involved in it.

    • Pandy says:

Was she rowing it … oh these clever, clever, people, LOLLLLL. Yeah, pouty princess had her spring break RUINED … by her PARENTS …

Bet she continues on as is. Bet they all do. Shameless.
PS: I believe the kids DO know what is happening … if not the specifics, they MUST have a good idea that if they are failing or barely passing classes that they aren’t Ivy League (or really ANY) candidates? They aren’t THAT stupid, surely??

  17. Karen2 says:

Which is probably why parents are motivated to cut corners. Her parents may seem like superstars but the dad used his house as collateral for his bail. Being the child of actors counts for little in millionaire rich Cali. Maybe.

  18. Mia4s says:

“the young woman decided it would be in her best interests to return home.”

The young woman decided? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Tell me another one!

Try: upon realizing the optics of this I called my daughter and screamed at her to get that little bitch off my yacht and away from us or your trust fund is going to charity!!

“The young woman decided”, that’s hilarious.

    • Christin says:

The daughter’s good friend is suddenly nameless. Obvious distancing, eh?

I’m still processing that Lori the teenage catalog model is apparently this poor a parent/role model. If Hallmark keeps her, then that speaks volumes about their supposed brand.

All of these folks make me so ragey. The insipidness of the kids, the casual unrepentant criminality of their parents. All of it is so disgusting.

  20. IlsaLund says:

This craziness is triggering in so many ways. It spotlights the glaring inequality in our society and our education and justice systems…..not that we didn’t know the inequality existed. Also, the spawn of the 1% (either through legacy or bribery) are admitted and graduate from these “elite schools” and are the asshats being put in positions of power to run this country. Look at how many Supreme Court Justices are Ivy League grads. Bush & Trump both had their college spots bought and paid for. Trump’s evil spawn are also products of paid for degrees and look where they are now. Olivia Jade is an “influencer” who brianwashes other mindless kids just like herself. No wonder, things are so f@*cked up in this country.

And so many people of color were/are made to feel undeserving of gaining admittance to schools because “you’re only here because of affirmative action and you’ve taken a spot from a more deserving white student”. That’s the biggest lie ever. POC had to have the qualifications to get admitted into these schools to begin with and affirmative action didn’t help them stay there and graduate. You studied hard and worked your ass off. But it’s affirmative action that’s always singled out and challenged and said to be unfair to white students….not legacy and bribery students….smdh.

    • mycomment says:

if anything, the one and only positive to dotard’s reign is to confirm and highlight the fraud that is this country’s endless marketing of equality of opportunity and adherence to the rule of law. for all of the world to see.
and the fallout is just beginning… have you seen that the ntsb was begging for the return of the black boxes from the Ethiopian crash. and they were denied; they’re going to france instead. sooooo, the country’s bragging rights to being the leader of aviation has been destroyed by boeing/dotard/faa’s refusal to ground those planes. until this country was left as the only one flying them. the uk and Canada had both denied overflight of their countries.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Exactly right. POC are minimized when they deservedly gain access to these schools. And Vapid Barbiebot Mcsilverspoon is lauded for her parents casual end-run around the rules to get her into USC where she jets around on yachts and blogging about peachy metallic make-up.

    • noway says:

The problems happens way before college. There are studies that have said the standardized test are geared against minorities. In addition, just the level of education offered to minorities it’s amazing some do as well on things as they do, while wealthy privileged mostly white kids get the best teachers, tutors and education money can buy. Which means they generally start with a higher average to begin with. Finally with the test even if colleges are making them less of a concern for admission, they are a big concern for scholarships. So if you do manage to make the best of the education you had available and get in, you might not be able to afford it cause you couldn’t excel on a test which was rigged against you to begin with.

  21. Ksweet says:

But in this day and age, is anyone surprised? At any of it? Vapid Kardashian wanna bes. Famous for nothing, with millions of “followers.” We should ALL be so proud.

  22. Steff says:

    Expel her.

  23. Veronica says:

Imagine having the kind of money that allows for that kind of brazen stupidity.

  24. Adrien says:

Saw her vids and honestly I find her to be plain looking so I guess her celeb parents and wealthy status are the reasons why she’s an influencer. I’ve seen prettier girls on YouTube but they belong to lower income families so they’re not aspirational. Her older sister though is stunning, like a young Tiffany Thiessen.
Olivia made her uni life her blogging content. One vid had her doing a dorm tour in which she showcased all her clothes and makeup with only her USB cables the educational part. Damn. She is young, I still have sympathy. Hopefully she learns from all this.

    • Deering says:

Eheheheh. It speaks volumes that her room had the tiniest desk ever seen in any dorm anywhere. 🙂

  25. Vanessa says:

Henceforth, any time any negative comment is ever made about affirmative action in college admissions, it should be answered with a mandatory 30 second slideshow of Olivia Jade instagrams – with captions. UGH.

    • me says:

I bet some of these rich a$$holes are going to blame Affirmative Action as the reason they had to cheat their way in. “All the schools are taking POC over White kids. It’s not fair. They are stealing spots away from White Kids. We had to bribe our way in.” Total b.s.

  26. Lady Keller says:

Here is what I don’t understand. Your kids aren’t smart enough and dont have the drive to get into a good school. So you buy their way in, and then what? Obviously the kids can’t hack it academically. They must be in completely over their heads. Do they cheat their way through 4 years of college or do you pay extra to have the school look the other way and hand them a diploma?

I’m genuinely curious what happens next. I’ve heard this kind of thing before (looking at you entire Trump family) and I want to know what the kids actually do to get given a diploma.

    • whatWHAT? says:

there was a GREAT, very eye-opening column I read through sharing on fb last night. to answer your question, YES they cheat their way through their entire life.

the column was written by a professional writer who, in her leaner years, took any job she could get writing. some of her jobs were…yes…writing college essays for applications. and college papers. and GRADUATE LEVEL uni papers. and job application essays, and on and on. these wealthy are supported, coached and mentored, some by their parents, some by the Fortune 500 companies that hire them (due to connections), for their entire lives, until they end up on the board of some corporation, making a seven figure paycheck for their job, another one for their “board membership” where all they do is show up four times a year and listen to the annual report. and then they do the same for their own kids. this kind of thing perpetuates the haves and the have-nots. it’s one of the reasons that the poor stay poor and the rich get richer. it’s a closed-door realm, and none but the 1% get to reap benefits of it.

found the link, hope it’s OK to post.

      • Veronica S. says:

Yep. You can actually make some pretty decent money as a writer helping other people cheat their way through life. A lot of schools are cracking down on it, but I imagine plenty turn an eye aside when some money is thrown their way. There’s a reason why a startling amount of people in higher level corporate positions are completely amoral and/or incompetent when left to their own devices.

      • me says:

        @ Veronica S.

Yup. I have had so many bosses with less education and experience than I have. I am a WOC with ZERO connections. I have had to train my new boss on how to do things. It’s like if I’m smart enough to train my boss, why didn’t I get the job instead??? F*cking bullsh*t. At least I know whatever I have earned is because of my hard work. I worked so hard in undergrad and graduate school. The feeling of getting an A on a paper that I wrote is the best feeling. I live in reality. I know that hard work doesn’t always get you on top…in fact it rarely does. The ones who have connections and are able to k*ss ass tend to move up fast.

    • Julianne says:

She wouldn’t have been expected to stay there long. Just long enough to make connections, or meet a husband, that sort of thing. Once she got a job in the business, whether it was an acting gig or even a solid sponsorship deal, she could drop out without anyone giving it a second glance.

  27. Mamasan says:

I got into college by working two jobs, my mother watching my kids, my own test scores and grades, and the GI Bill. These parents sicken me. What do they think they are teaching their children? It’s sad.

  28. Sharon Lea says:

After expulsion, I wish she and others in this situation, were made to volunteer for the next two years at a place like the following:
*Malala Fund – education programs that help girls to go to school to reach their potential
*Room to Read – supports girls education and literacy, they build schools and libraries in Asia and Africa
*K.I.N.D. (Kids in Need of Desks) Fund – through UNICEF – provides desks to Malawi students

  29. Tourmaline says:

This girl’s brows legitimately give me a fright (in the black and white picture)

  30. Mary says:

So how did she graduate highschool?

    • me says:

I am sure there is a lot of corruption in high school as well…especially in wealthy areas.

    • Esmom says:

I don’t think it’s that hard. I had a co-worker who missed more than half of her senior year — being absent on and off for undiagnosed mental health issues, I’m pretty sure — and she still graduated. It was a little touch and go but she and her parents somehow worked something out with administration. And money wasn’t even involved, I’m sure.

  31. Julianne says:

One small correction. Rick Caruso owns The Grove but not the land it sits on. The Gilmore family owns that land and most of the land in that area.

  32. Embee says:

Hi Kaiser just a quick note: someone on a crew is a rower, there is no such thing as a crewer. Also, crew is a noun not a verb, like golf. So one rows crew, or is a rower on a crew. Or participates in crew/rowing. Does that make sense? It’s a small sport, relatively, so the terms are confusing. I can say that girl has no where near the muscles it would take to row! Rowers are tough ladies!

    • noway says:

They were saying she was a coxswain. You can laugh now. Yes rowers are tough!!!

      • Embee says:

Lol I’m so sure she could take responsibility for eight rowers and approximately a quarter million dollars of equipment, setting strategy and coaxing or inspiring said athletes to give when they feel they can’t. Little Miss I Cant Be Bothered.

    • windyriver says:

Listing as cox also avoids the issue of height, although I assume USC has lightweight women’s crew as well, where being tall is less of a factor.

Took up rowing with a club team in my 30’s. Best shape I was or will ever be in. I’d be interested to see the photos of these girls supposedly taken on rowing machines. My local gym has a couple, and I flinch when I see people using them, as their form is almost always wrong.

  34. Taya says:

How shitty was her gpa and test scores that despite being friends with board of trustees chairman’s family, her parents still had to pony up half a mil? All papa Paltrow had to do to get goop into to UCSB was have Michael Douglas make a call.

  35. Hmmm says:

This story is so crazy. LoL

  36. LunaSF says:

I guess going to these colleges is a status thing for these parents and brats? It’s not like these kids will ever need to actually put a degree to use or send out a resume. Obviously they will continue to have everything handed to them (Sephora palette at 19 **cough cough**) and eventually inherit their parents wealth. Please just drop out and let someone who will actually NEED an education have your spot.

  37. ElleKaye says:

Did admissions not even bother to look at their social media? She posted this in 2017….

it’s so hard to try in school when you don’t care about anything you’re learning

    9:07 PM – 20 Apr 2017

This fiasco needs to fall on the admissions staff and the administration as well.

    • Veronica S. says:

To be honest, there’s no way admissions has time to extensively go through the social profiles of these kids. My sister works in admissions at a relatively small college, and she is extraordinarily busy during enrollment periods. I can’t imagine how much larger the workload is at a major university like USC. They’ll do requisite background checks, but otherwise, it’s dependent on the individual being honest in their applications – which is why lying carries such hefty penalties and fines.

  38. HeyThere! says:

This story gets more disgusting every day!

  39. Mellie says:

If these people had any brains at all they would start eating some humble pie, come out and start apologizing their asses off because people are hot over this story. This hits home for so many of us, but wait I stated, “if they had brains”…..I guess that’s why we had the cheating in the first place.

  40. holly hobby says:

Hallmark just fired Lori from their show. So I guess she no longer has fly back to Canada to work while this case is winding through the court.

I suspect they are also not that wealthy. I read the hubby had to take out a line of credit to post his $1M bail.

    • Deanne says:

Look at all of the people that her deception impacted. There was a Garage Sale Mystery currently in production and another 3 or 4 in pre-production. All of the actors, crew, etc. are losing a huge amount of work because of her lies. She’s also the star of another series on Hallmark. What happens to that? Her daughter has already lost Sephora and a clothing sponsorship. I don’t feel sorry for either of them. but I do feel sorry for those who lose because of their entitlement and dishonesty I guess her talentless older daughter’s acting career is over. She was riding the nepotism train despite her lack of talent. Since her Mother’s no longer the sweetheart of Hallmark, she won’t be able to get cast in any more cheesy Christmas movies on that channel. I have zero sympathy for any of them.

      • Darla says:

My mom likes her shows and she just told me about this. She is bummed, but she knows they had to do it. What I said is they should just pull an old soap trick. I am a lifelong GH fan and I can’t count the times the little voice says “the role of, will now be played by…” and that’s it, bing bang boom. Two months later you forget about the person who used to play the role.

Everyone keeps their jobs and you give another actress the work.

      • Deanne says:

I know. They do it all of the time on soaps. At least the series could go on. Meredith Salenger was nominating herself for the part. It was funny but she’d probably be good. Haven’t three different actresses played Carly? It can work.

      • Darla says:

        Yes! They have (Carly) lol

      • Deanne says:

@Darla Tragically, I felt the need to look it up. There have in fact been 4 Carly Corinthos. So it could work if they chose the appropriate person to take over the role.

  41. Dttimes2 says:

Sephora ended partership with the daughter

  42. blunt talker says:

Lori the mother has lost her job on Hallmark today. Hallmark has severed ties with Lori. The daughter has been dropped by 2 or 3 of her sponsors. Both girls have withdrawn from USC because they are afraid of the bullying that will happen if they stayed.
