Queen Letizia of Spain made a special trip to London yesterday! She attended an event at the National Gallery. The event was the opening of Sorolla: Spanish Master of Light. Her husband stayed at home, but she was greeted by the Prince of Wales, who was in the middle of a busy day already – just a few hours beforehand, he wrapped up the Prince’s Trust Awards. Charles even arrived on time for the opening, but Letizia was late by 20 minutes, reportedly.
Has anyone else noticed that it seems like Charles has grown much more affectionate as he gets older? I feel like he’s constantly kissing ladies’ hands these days, and greeting women with affectionate cheek kisses and such. Maybe he’s always done that, but it feels like it’s happening more often these days. So, yeah, he greeted Queen Letizia affectionately. Cheek-kisses and a kiss to her hand. The British papers are calling him Prince Charming or Charming Charles.
Letizia’s dress was gorgeous, right? It’s a custom Carolina Herrera, based off another dress from Herrera’s pre-fall 2019 collection. Beautiful colors, perfect for a visit to a gallery. Regarding the exhibit, it features 60 pieces by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida, and the exhibition runs from March 18th to July 7th.

I don’t know what it is about this dress- but Letizia is a relatively tiny lady, and it’s making her look really wide. Her bust looks awful. Maybe it’s just the way it photographs.
I think the bodice of the dress is a bit too boxy or something and it seems to swamp her a bit. I really like the skirt though and the colors on the dress, and it seems perfect for this kind of event, so overall thumbs up.
Charles is getting more affectionate – wonder if its just being photographed more, or if he feels less constrained by protocol as he gets older.
I don’t know for certain, and I’m not saying it’s performative, but it seems like members of the royal family are learning they don’t have to be so “stiff upper lip” all the time. The popularity of the more warm and tactile members—Harry, Meghan, Kate when she’s working around children or sport—could possibly be having an influence on his behavior.
I love Carolina Herrera but I don’t love this dress. The print looks like the flowers are going to eat her-they’re HUGE!.
I really dislike handkisses. They give me the creeps.
I think it is so elegant, especially when Charles does it. It is old fashioned and l have never seen any other other royal me do it.
Queen Letizia always has such good style!
Love the dress. Her confidence shows; she doesn’t need a short skirt to hold people’s attention.
Disappointing. She wears amazing clothes, and this looks like a Mother of The Easter Bunny dress. So stiff and saccharine. It fits the British royal dress code perfectly. Wish both of the duchesses would dress a bit more like Letizia and Charlene.
Looks like nice quality silk, but I think the print pattern is too large for her and the pleated skirt of the dress overwhelms her. Maybe it it was bit shorter it would look better. I think this is a case where the designer picked the wrong fabric for the style of garment. It’s too stiff for this style of dress.
Not a fan of the hairstyle.
Prince Charles smiles ,that’s what I like about him . Genuine smiles.
Oh no.
She’s normally so chic and edgy but this looks busy and frumpy.
With all the stinking trash in the news (my head remains on fire about the use of accommodations in the admissions crimes) I am really appreciating this story of a beautiful dress and a Prince Charles brining down his guard and being a bit more cozy. I credit time/wisdom and his new daughter in law. I feel like everyone is a bit more chatty with her around. I credit her California roots.
This looks like a mumu (sp?) that was made into formal wear.
So I think this dress looks awful. I was just wondering if Kate has worn the same dress what the comments would be? LOL
I like the fabric, maybe not on her, but all I really want is a close-up of her earrings! Emeralds maybe?
I love the fabric and appreciate the Laura Ashley style – so early 90’s. But why are Charles’s Hands so discolored and swollen?
Look at Charles’s hands in these photos. Zoom in a bit. Ouch…. they look painful and alarmingly swollen. Thoughts?
He has Rosacea which is why he is so red faced as time has went on
Those are what he himself calls his sausage fingers, which he seems to have inherited from his mother. William has sausage fingers too, Harry’s fingers are more slimline. Now Charles is older and has a bit of water retention, they look huge.

It’s not just his fingers, his entire hand looks swollen to the point that the skin is stretched tight.
This looks like a dress from H&M or something. Cheap material/pattern for a designer gown.
She usually looks better than this!
Queen Letizia’s hair has fallen out of place. Can you imagine the uproar if that had happened to Meghan.
Thanks for the Letizia posts! I really like her style and how she looks in her clothes.
[*Yes, even this dress.*]
I love this dress! I love the Spanish royalty posts, specially when they bring Drama.
Is it just me or Letizia has tweaked her face so much she barely looks like herself anymore? She used to be so beautiful, now she looks almost plastic…
