Rosario Dawson confirms she’s in a serious romantic relationship with Cory Booker

Eva Longoria Foundation Dinner Gala - Arrivals

I’m still interested in Cory Booker as a presidential candidate. I care more about his issue statements, his goals, and yes, his past political actions. His personal life doesn’t really matter, and yet let’s be real: of course a candidate’s family life and personal story have an effect on how we view them and whether we vote for them. Cory Booker is 49 years old and he’s never been married. He generally shies away from conversations about his romantic life, and as such, there were always rumors about his sexuality, and whether he’s ever been on the downlow. There have also been rumors about Booker with various famous women too. Famous women like… Rosario Dawson. Rosario just confirmed that she’s been in a relationship with Booker?!?

Rosario Dawson’s all in on Cory Booker for President in 2020, but she might be a little biased … because she just confirmed with us … they’re in a serious, loving relationship!!! The actress was at the Reagan National Airport in D.C. Thursday when our guy quizzed her on what’s been widely rumored — she’s the woman Booker referred to last month on the Breakfast Club when he said he was dating someone very special, while adding, “I got a boo.”

It didn’t take much prodding before Dawson said it was true and began gushing over her man, calling him an amazing human being and saying their relationship is a wonderful thing. She continued … “I am just grateful to be with someone that I respect and love and admire so much,” and added several more doting words to describe the presidential hopeful.

Speaking of that … Rosario says Cory would be an amazing Prez, and she’s pushing him with a campaign button. As for whether wedding bells are on the horizon, making her potential First Lady material … she’s not quite ready to say.

[From TMZ]

This doesn’t feel like Rosario and Cory Booker have been in a long-term relationship where we could or should refer to them as each other’s “partners.” It just feels like boyfriend-girlfriend, and it also feels like… it probably won’t last when the campaign heats up, because he won’t have time for it. So, yeah, I don’t know what to think. Rosario generally seems like a cool, low-key kind of person and she would make an interesting First Lady. But wow, do we have a ways to go before then.

Were there prior rumors about this? I can’t recall.

    • smcollins says:

I remember hearing a while back that they were supposedly dating, but this is the first confirmation of it. I’m thinking that having a “Hollywood” girlfriend is not going to work in his favor unfortunately.

    • whatWHAT? says:

yes, there were. and there were rumors that he had a thing for exotic dancers. and there are rumors (as you can read in several posts below) that he’s on the down low.

I don’t like Dawson much because of the 2016 election, but I do like Booker. This is the guy who was shoveling his constituents’ driveways in a snowstorm when he was Mayor of Newark. He took people who didn’t have power into his home in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. I do take issue with his coziness with big pharma, but in essence, he seems to be one of the good ones.

    • TabithaStevens says:

      Beard.

      • Rachel Phelps says:

He’s not gay: I know two women he dated. One when he was younger he was deeply in love with and she’s sweet and kind, and the other woman was stunningly beautiful, like a 3-4 month thing, but it likely ended because she sucks. My significant other knows the sucky woman well.

      • NWRose says:

        Word.

    • Bella Bella says:

He’s gay and she’s his beard. It’s a contract. I believe she is gay as well. Have fun!

  2. Darla says:

Dawson voted for Jill Stein and viciously slandered Hillary as a money grubbing corporatist. Now, there is no way Booker is less a corporatist than Hillary, so to say I find this interesting is an understatement. Internalized misogyny? Stunning hypocrisy? Both?

    • Sash says:

I was about to say! Booker is also very close to HRC so Rosario’s choice here is…something.

      • Darla says:

Yes, they are close, and I love the way Booker speaks about her. I watch that closely, because so many of them erase Hillary and when they erase her, they erase me.

This is something alright. Quite interesting and very eyebrow raising. I really do not know what to make of it.

    • adastraperaspera says:

I didn’t know this about her 2016 choices. To me, it seems off that Booker would not have made a formal announcement of some kind himself.

    • Ader says:

      A gig.

Sorry, I just don’t buy this. Having lived in DC for too long…..yeah, it’s just like Hollywood in many regards.

      • TQ says:

        Yep. It’s definitely a gig.

      • broodytrudy says:

I think Cory Booker is certainly involved with someone, just not Rosario Dawson. I don’t think she’s his type.

      • Leah says:

HUGE bummer. You’d think society has advanced enough so that he wouldn’t have to find a “girlfriend,” but here we are…maybe he didn’t think the year we have to unseat the MAGA trash was the right one to run as himself. It isn’t my choice to decide for others when/if they should come out, nor is it anyone’s business to know with whom our politicians choose to spend their intimate moments. I just wish no one felt obligated to do hold themselves back anymore.

      • isabelle says:

Rosario is very much into politics, very possible she is using him for that game and he suddenly no longer singe as a Presidential candidate. good match I guess.

    • Lulu says:

Girl, both! I’m amazed as well but then quickly remembered we’re discussing a relationship between a politician and a starlet. Don and Mel on the other end of the spectrum.

    • 90sgirl says:

      Yawn.

I can’t take much of what Rosario does now . She stood yelling Wh-re ,Wh-re, about an accomplished woman Presidental candidate. I’ve never forgot the hate she spewed and also several other hateful things towards other women, in their faces, just because they were not voting the way she wanted.

Done with her and I use to be such a fan of hers, tried to support whatever she was in as a POC in the industry.

I’m done with her. Sorry Rosario.

      • Steff says:

I was just going to say the exact same thing. Rosario is worse than Susan Sarandon in her idiotic crusade against real democrats. Booker’s political leanings are too centrist for her. I wonder how this will play out on the campaign trail…

      • Pete Booty Jig says:

@Steff: real Democrats? I guess you mean fiscally conservative Democrats? If so they’re not centrists.

      • Tiffany :) says:

She yelled “who*re” at Hillary!?!?! I didn’t know this. Wow.

      • 123naptime says:

I believe this is a tiny bit inaccurate. At a NYC Sanders rally Dr. Paul Song used the phrase “corporate democratic wh*res” in reference to congressmen that are tight with big pharma. Rosario Dawson did say at another Sanders event that she was “with Monica Lewinksy on this one” referring to Lewinsky’s anti-bullying essay and how she (Dawson) felt Sanders supporters were being bullied. Many HRC supporters found that reference to be in poor taste I guess, but nah she never called HRC a wh*re.

  3. Ifeoma says:

Lol. First lady though? He’s not even going to win the primaries but go off sis. And interesting timing too, starting a relationship as elections approach.

    • Moneypenny says:

This announcement is no surprise to me. It is politics. I told my husband last week that him being single is not a good look for a candidate (not that I feel that way, but that’s how it goes). I don’t personally care about sexual preferences, but men who are single at a certain age will always have rumors about them. This is to quiet any of that talk.

  4. Alissa says:

This seemed crazy random to me.

  5. TheOriginalMia says:

Rosario has been on my shitlist since the 2016 election. I’m surprised someone who was so passionate about her support of Bernie to the point she voted for that quack Stein would stoop to being with Booker. I’m suspicious tbqh. I’ve noticed none of her former Bernie or Bust people have called her out on her hypocrisy. She’s the ultimate sell-out. It just makes me go hmm.

    • 90sgirl says:

      Yes!
Since I saw how she behaved during 2016 towards women who were not falling in line with her candidate, I’ve been done with her.

And also I was reading Essence, Ebony, BET, several news sites which feature news of POC, and they were so done with her, after watching her 2016 behavior.

Is this some kind of PR rehabilitation for her? I don’t know.
It won’t work, if it is,

    • Bella Bella says:

      It’s a paycheck.

  6. ByTheSea says:

I call BS, frankly. This is showmance. Is Rosario hard up for money? I know that people do crazy things for their political career, but come on, Cory.

  7. Kealeen says:

Booker is the Wall Street/charter school candidate. My friend had to witness him forcefully reciting “Phenomenal Woman” at a small Stacey Abrams event last year, and said she wanted to sink into the floor from secondhand embarrassment when he made eye contact with her. Hard pass on this couple.

  8. deezee says:

I feel like this isn’t new news. I’ve read about them being a thing before, and honestly, I thought it as first reported here too on Celebitchy, but I could be wrong about that. If they’re happy, whatever, I don’t care.
As a Canadian, we really care so little about the family situation of our politicians. It is usually considered quite irrelevant to the job.

  9. Frida_K says:

She’s a Bernie Bot and a Stein voter.

I used to like Cory Booker but this has made me stop and reconsider.

Also, it’s just tacky and creepy that this *cough* “big reveal” is on TMZ. Haven’t we had enough of reality show trash invading our political lives? Do we really need someone who thinks it is appropriate to gushingly announce their fauxmance on TMZ to be our next so-called First Lady? What does this say about her, and what does it say about him? Haven’t we suffered enough with the reality show trash poisoning our country and, indeed, the world?

I don’t need that. I do NOT need that.

Sorry, Cory. Best wishes to you and your boo, but no thank you.

  10. Lala11_7 says:

I will NEVA forgive Rosario for her 2016 lies regarding HRC…

    PERIODT!

    • Darla says:

Agree. She was so low. So low. Truly dirt.

    • 90sgirl says:

Yep. NEVA…. ever, will I see anything Rosario is in, unless it’s by mistake.
So done with how she put down accomplished, educated women during the 2016 election processes.
She put down groups of women voters too, for voting for Hillary as well as the candidate herself and also legendary respected women who have been involved in civil rights and social causes and politics ,who did not support her chosen candidate.

  11. ReginaGeorge says:

Ummm….. So the tea in Newark and the Tri-State area is that Cory is trapped in the closet so hearing the news about Rosario has everyone side-eyeing this as just a bearding contract. But, do you hunty! It’s not like he has any chance to get past the primaries anyway.

  12. isabelle says:

Booker has always been a low key dater and dated quit a few women. Gayle King was one of those but think she denied it? However it was heavily rumored on DC circles they had dated for real.

  13. Wisca says:

This is so obviously not true and utterly absurd. Do they actually think people will buy this?

  14. Chisey says:

I like them as a couple, but I didn’t know she voted for Stein in 2016. Then again, if there’s anywhere you can vote third party, I think New York is probably it since that state was going blue no matter what.

The thing that seems weird to me is that she’s confirming this to TMZ. I would think the campaign would want it confirmed in some glossy magazine interview where they can also talk up his candidacy and some of his issues. The TMZ of it all makes me think it’s way more serious on her end than it is on his, and he might not be excited about the confirmation. I doubt he’s looking for TMZ headlines right now, even if this is probably the most wholesome TMZ headline I think I’ve ever seen.

    • MrsBanjo says:

It’s not that she simply voted third party. It’s that she’s a Bernie Bro who hardcore trashed HRC and then made a big thing of voting for Stein. Booker has always been very close with HRC, so this pairing is outright bizarre.

      • 90sgirl says:

Also she stood and yelled wh-re, wh-re about a certain woman candidate.
That hate spewed, shocked me and just turned my stomach when I saw her behave like that.

        Never liked Rosario since that.

    • adastraperaspera says:

Could she possibly be trying to hurt his candidacy?

  15. Heather says:

I don’t know if I buy into their relationship, but whatever.

Everyone who is calling RD out on her stance on HRC and how can CB possibly be with her because of that….please google James Carville and Mary Matalin.

    • Darla says:

No no, how can SHE be with him? He is a bigger corporatist than Hillary, who she lied about, called names, voted third party against, AND told everyone else to vote third party. No no, it is her. Why? Does she hate women?

      • Heather says:

Again, google James Carville (prominent Democratic political commentator and lead strategist for Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign and advisor for HRC 2008 campaign)and Mary Matalin (campaign director of George H. W. Bush’s campaign, Republican operative under Reagan [reportedly now a libertarian but fully approves of Trump]). They’ve been married since 1993 with 2 daughters.

      • Ader says:

The Carvilles may be on opposite aisles, but they’re both centrists. Rosario Dawson is a fire-breathing public figure for the “down with the neo-liberals!” crowd. And Cory Booker is the calendar boy for “neo-liberalism.” It’s like if Taylor Swift started dating Lil Yachty…it’s just…out there.

      • Darla says:

Listen Heather, I don’t have to google them, I was there back in the day. They do not apply to this situation. At all.

      • Heather says:

That two people can push aside the political narratives they’ve entangled themselves in and be just two people (possibly) together apart from that? Maybe they’ve found a love for comic books outweighs her opinions on Hillary and Bernie.

      • LNG says:

        George and KellyAnne Conway……

      • Jaded says:

@Heather – Neither Carville nor Matalin ran for president. This fauxmance sounds fishy as hell.

      • pantanlones en fuego says:

Comparing JC and MM to Booker and Dawson is comparing apples and oranges. Carville and Matalin are intellectual politicos which is why, despite their differences they have been together for nearly 30 years. Rosario Dawson is not what I would call an intellectual. Also I think that Mary Matalin has been vocally against many of 45’s policies.

    • Fluffy Princess says:

Speaking of “opposite couples” — What about Kellyanne Conway and George Conway. One lies daily for that orange monstrosity while the other lights up Twitter with scathing commentary on the same topics. Honestly, do they even live in the same house anymore? Same bedroom?

Because frankly, if my husband was the “Kellyanne” in our relationship, we wouldn’t have a relationship. Even though we’ve been together forever. The Orange stain would be a dealbreaker.

      • Ader says:

He’s a Republican, though. And, Kellyanne is a notorious opportunistic trickster. I wouldn’t bat an eyelash if it eventually came out that she was the Cyrano behind George’s missives.

  16. Lizzie says:

    she sucks and he’s corny.

  17. Jb says:

I unfollowed and cancelled Rosario during 2016 election, Chica was spouting so many lies and was a pro Bernie die hard, like DONT VOTE because Bernie didn’t make it to the end. She is not a “cool down to earth” person…moronic and selfish are more apt

  18. mycomment says:

well, fwiw, I read several weeks ago prior to this press release, that it’s one of those contract arrangements to redirect from the ‘booker is gay’ that was gaining traction. but then, being gay is just another day in right wing smear tactics.

    • Bella Bella says:

Actually, I think he really is gay. This a horribly conceived roll-out. I guess no one else wanted the gig?

    • isabelle says:

Where did you read it? Singe men in their 40s/50s, never married often get labeled as a closeted gay. A form of sexism really. Unless it is from a reliable source, it is 100% gossip.

  19. Patty says:

It’s an open secret on Capital Hill that he’s gay. Not bisexual, gay. I don’t care for how RD handled herself during the 2016 election but she’s got way too much going for her to be bearding for Cory Booker. WTF.

    • isabelle says:

Do you live and work in DC? Cause when I was there it was opposite and well known serial dater of WOMEN.

      • CK says:

I’d love for anyone to respond to you with some actual tea. This is akin to Sean Mendes/Hugh Jackman are secretly gay in that everyone repeats it ad naseum without even giving the faintest to evidence. Heck, at this point a personal anecdote would be more information than we’ve ever been given on the subject.

      • TabithaStevens says:

If he dated women he did so to maintain his cover. It is his business that he’s gay but he shouldn’t pay women to keep his closet door closed.

  20. Charfromdarock says:

Huh. I had no idea about her actions in the last election. You can be in opposition to someone without trying to degrade them.

Like @deezee said above, in Canada poltician’s personal relationships are such a non issue that it always amazes me how much of an issue it is in the US.
I have no idea if or who my MP or MHA have a relationship. I also have no idea if they have a religion either.

  21. Shannon Malcom says:

I really like Cory Booker, and for entertainment purposes only I thought this was pretty cool when I first heard it. But I did not realize she voted for Stein and was anti-Hillary. That’s a bummer.

  22. Parigo says:

Wasn’t he internet flirting with Mindy Kaling just a year Ago? Looks like he was looking for an actress wife.

    • The Other Katherine says:

I remember the Mindy thing, which is part of what makes me think this might be a gig rather than a real relationship. The Mindy flirtation seemed like a low-key audition (doubt Mindy approached it that way, but that was sure what Booker’s behavior looked like to me). It wasn’t gross, exactly, but it did make me think that a run for president was not going to work out.

  23. KC says:

I’m just here to say I’m doubly, maybe triply shocked.😮. Last I heard of her she was dating Eric Andre and I was wondering how that was going with his lewdness and raising an impressionable pre-teen so I’m shocked but relieved he’s out of the picture. She typically has dated clean cut white men so Eric seemed off the beaten path but now it seems she’s interested in the brothas-also shocking and making me wonder if her daughter is black and she’s trying to model healthier relationships of substance involving blacks for her. I didn’t remember who Corey Booker was and was confused by all the “First Lady Rosario” headlines I was coming across but now I realize he’s a presidential candidate AND he was the guy seemingly trying to holler at Mindy Kaling a while back. Maybe he likes actresses on his arm?🤷🏽‍♀️

  24. Crawford1967 says:

I’m sure his “alleged” boyfriend must have thoughts on this.

  25. Amelie says:

Why did she even give the TMZ vulture the time of day?? I don’t get it!
