Lori Loughlin fired from all of her Hallmark Channel projects in wake of scandal

Lori Loughlin was allowed to keep her passport when she turned herself into the FBI and got formally charged with the crimes associated with bribing officials to get her daughters into USC. Lori was allowed to keep her passport because she had work commitments in Vancouver, where she films many of her Hallmark movies and her Hallmark series, When Calls the Heart. She told the court that she had filming commitments throughout the rest of the year. I joked yesterday that the Hallmark Channel was probably like “we’d like to be excluded from this narrative.” As it turns out, that sh-t was no joke.

Lori Loughlin has been dropped from all Hallmark Channel productions in the wake of the college admissions scandal. In a statement obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday, the network said, “We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production,” the statement continued.

Along with stopping any current projects, the network will no longer air past content featuring Loughlin.

The actress has become a staple on the channel over the years, starring in numerous movies, TV shows and specials. She is currently starring as a series regular on Hallmark’s drama When Calls the Heart, which is currently in its sixth season. A representative for Hallmark told PEOPLE that the series will not air on Sunday, March 17.

“We are evaluating all creative options related to When Calls the Heart series,” the rep said.

Hallmark is savage AF, who knew. They’re not only firing Lori’s ass from all of the current sh-t, they’re also refusing to air her old sh-t!! Damn, chica. TMZ also has a source close to the production on Fuller House claiming that they have zero plans to bring her back for the next season they’re filming.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, I read some comments by a Hollywood crisis manager who offered some free advice to Lori, Felicity Huffman and any of the other arrested parents in this scheme. The free advice was basically “keep your head down, don’t release any statements, go away and don’t try to PR your way out of it.” Unfortunately, I suspect that Lori Loughlin’s publicist does not agree. People Magazine has started running these weirdly insidery and weirdly sympathetic stories about Lori and her family. Don’t get me wrong, this article was an amazing read – it’s all about what people in Lori’s “social circle” think, and how people are distancing themselves from Lori and her family.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s alleged involvement in the college admissions bribery scam has left those in their social circle divided. A source tells PEOPLE that some of the pair’s friends have been distancing themselves from the couple in light of the news, which broke on Tuesday.

“Lori and Mossimo are finding out quickly who their real friends are,” the insider says. “It’s not like they are the victims of a crime. They are the crime. Many of their friends don’t want to be associated with them right now. Their friends are shocked at the allegations.”

The insider went on to explain that Loughlin, 54, and Giannulli, 55, “always wanted the best” for daughters Olivia Jade, 19, and Isabella Rose, 20 — and often put pressure on their kids to succeed at school despite the fact that the girls did not appear to have an interest in academics.

“Olivia and Isabella’s personalities were always very different from their parents. They are average students. They have never been obsessed with school and didn’t seem to care that much,” the source says. “They attended school because their parents made them. Their focus was never about getting straight As. It was always clear that it was the parents that pushed them to go to school. Olivia always talks about her vlog. This is her passion. She never really understood why she needs to go to school.” (Neither of the daughters have been charged in connection with the scheme, and it is not known whether they were even aware of it.) Despite their disinterest, Loughlin and Giannulli would still champion the girls’ triumphs among their friend circles.

“They love to talk about how amazing their daughters are,” the source says of Loughlin and Giannulli. “They are very competitive parents and they like to show off.”

[From People]

Re: Olivia Jade’s disinterest in school… the thing to do when you have an influencer daughter who cares about makeup and looking pretty and partying is to encourage her to channel those interests into a career path. Get her to take community college courses in business, sign her up for acting classes, that sort of thing. There are so many other options besides “spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to bribe your kids into college.” But yes, this was all about Lori’s ego, and her inability to see that Olivia and Isabella just weren’t interested in being HER idea of “perfect daughters.”

You know what? What Lori did she was screwed up and she deserves to face consequences but the fact that she was *immediately* fired while (accused) sexual predators still have their jobs/have found new ones is infuriating.

Also, I love Becky/her relationship with Jesse and just wanted her in one episode of Fuller House’s final season so kinda upset about that too.

    • Maya says:

Exactly- rapists and pedos are free to work for a woman who cheated college/admission is fired????

      • Original T.C. says:

Unfortunately I think it’s because a lot of men don’t buy immediately that a man is guilty of rape or they think it’s a he said, she said. but this college thing doesn’t have an “other side” defending it. Like when pyramid schemes are discovered or Con artist taking social security checks from the elderly. Something like this pisses off everyone. The entire society feels cheated of either their place in college or their kid’s place.

      • HeyThere! says:

MAYA, I was thinking about this last night.

      • velourazure says:

I feel bad for the other actors and crew who now don’t have work / won’t have their project aired because of Lori. She wasn’t a solo performance in all of these things.

    • BaronSamedi says:

Yes thank you. I just sat here and couldn’t help but feel like justice sure was very swift for these women who did not actually hurt anyone directly.

I also think they should go to trial and be punished according to the law – but I don’t know why their careers are getting immediately yanked when Bryan Singer got to celebrate an Oscar.

      • Kittycat says:

I wish I had sympathy for Lori losing her jobs swiftly but I dont.

Just because other people lose their jobs at a slower pace doesn’t mean she is bring mistreated.

      • Frida_K says:

Others were directly hurt by these actions.

Do you think it could be enjoyable to manage a classroom with someone like Olivia Jade in it? Someone who comes and goes as she pleases, gets rules and exams and deadlines adjusted to her needs, and who drags down the discourse in the classroom because she really doesn’t care and she really doesn’t care who knows it?

When a student shows up sporadically, that student is behind. If it’s a small class, there are ripples in the pond as a result. In addition, it is spectacularly demoralizing to have to kowtow to little princes and princesses of this sort. The faculty are not fooled. They know what’s what. And yet, they are compelled to go along with it.

I could write you a letter, but just trust me. This steaming pile of horse manure does hurt others directly. The shame and frustration of being forced to be complicit with this performance hurts the faculty. The drag on the rest of the students in their classes hurts other students. It is damaging. It is a damage that is insidious and it is a damage that goes well beyond what I mention here. Truly, I could write you an essay on the topic.

Wealthy (not to mention white) privilege is corrosive. And just because you don’t see it does not mean that it doesn’t exist.

      • elimaeby says:

BaronSamedi, I do have to disagree about them not hurting anyone directly. They hurt the people who could have rightfully gained admission to these great schools, the kids who worked hard and really wanted it and were denied because they didn’t have bribe money.

I agree, it really does smack of sexism how quickly she was fired, but their crimes were not victimless.

      • Clementine says:

Did not actually hurt anyone directly? So, stealing a spot at USC (from someone else who DID meet the admission requirements) when you don’t meet the admission requirements isn’t hurting someone directly?

BaronSamedi, I am not sure if you have ever played the college game of testing, applying, paying, attending, and graduating…but yes, she did hurt someone directly.

And, sidenote… Mama Lori as well as Papa Mossimmo pretty much told the entire world that they DO NOT BELIEVE IN EQUALITY.

I’m glad that their gravy trains are getting the ax.

      • leela says:

x 100000 to what @Frida_K said. Of course, its infuriating that men accussed of sexual misconduct are not as immediately penalised but I’m glad that Lori Loughlin got fired promptly. Just to reiterate what @Clementine said – these people do not believe in equality.

    • Gigi La Moore says:

As a minority, I’m used to these inequities. I see your point but those predators don’t work for Hallmark, she does. I have no problem with her being held accountable.

      • klutzy_girl says:

The man who owns Hallmark has been accused of sexual misconduct.

      • jan90067 says:

I feel sorry for those on those shows (other talent, but esp. crew, behind the scenes) who are now out of work because of her. THIS is where *my* sympathies are. I hope Hallmark will find a way to compensate them, but nah, probably won’t. Their morality only goes so far, I’m sure.

    • Darla says:

Well, I think she is getting what she deserves but men like say, Weatherly, are not. To me the answer is not to let her off, but to call CBS and demand to know WHY WEATHERLY IS STILL ON THE AIR.

And in fact, thank you for this reminder because come 9am, I am going to make that call.

      • Bettyrose says:

        Darla,
Exactly. We don’t resolve injustice by forgiving this BS, but let’s demand equally swift and meaningful action for sexual predators too.

      • maria s says:

Thank you, Darla. I was wondering about Weatherly, too.

      • jay says:

There will always be worse things happening in the world when the rich and powerful have to be held accountable. Don’t fall for it. Talk about Weatherly in the Weatherly post.

    • Erinn says:

But they have proof. That’s the thing. It’s not like they’re just going with a suspicion. It’s not like it’s evidence that’s really reaching. She is a felon.

And the thing is – a company doesn’t have to wait for the sentencing. If they feel you’re damaging their brand – and it’s pretty freaking clear she did it – they have the right to remove you. Rapists working has nothing to do with this specific company deciding to drop her. She committed a freaking felony guys. It’s not like she stole a lipgloss from the store.

      • ZanB says:

Agreed. The Feds shared the evidence with the public. Transcripts of recordings. Hard to plead innocent after that.

      • FHMom says:

Exactly. These weren’t allegations. She was arrested for committing a crime. See Jussie Smollett.

      • Jay says:

These are still very much allegations. The “proof” you’re referring to was contained in an Indictment/Complaint (technically a Complaint but they can be viewed as very similar if you take the procedural aspect out of it). In every opening statement I make, I literally talk about how an indictment is JUST AN ACCUSATION. And I’m not sure what “evidence” y’all are talking about. Evidence is what a judge determines to be evidence at a trial. There has not been a trial.

Now, based on the Complaint, does it look like they did it? Absolutely. Do I think they did it? Yup. But let’s not continue the dumbing down of our understanding of the Constitution by saying “these aren’t just allegations.” Yes, they are. They literally are just allegations. Historically, procedurally, legally, they are JUST ALLEGATIONS.

      • minx says:

        Exactly.

      • Moneypenny says:

Thank you. She has been CHARGED.

      • holly hobby says:

People were leaving irate messages on HC’s Facebook page. I think that was enough for them.

    • Mia4s says:

Your point is well taken, unfortunately I also see the other side of it and it’s a reminder of how vigilant we have to remain as far as TimesUp and how much work there is to do. When accusations are made without any involvement from law enforcement employers have to exercise due diligence or they open themselves up to liability. In this case? She has a federal indictment against her. Being able to get rid of abusers on accusations alone is a very new thing and very tenuous. We need to strengthen oversight and the legal system or I fear it may not last.

Aside from all that, it’s Hallmark. Their brand is teeth-rotting sugar and family wholesomeness. Of course they ran the other way as fast as they could.

      • Lady D says:

Hallmark also hires people like home-wrecking, child-stealing, stalker types, e.g. Leanne Rimes.

      • Christin says:

@LadyD – They truly have lowered the bar within the past year. LR’s movie was atrocious. The acting and plot were subpar, but it was the low-budget “snow” and continuity were laughable. Someone pointed out how the “snow” would appear then disappear (in the same scene!).

Given who they now hire and the diminished production quality they allow, I thought Lori might be given a pass. Maybe they are trying to get back on brand after all.

      • Raven says:

        @ Lady D

Leanne Rimes did not commit a federal crime not to mention tax fraud. The fact that you would even compare the two is mind-boggling.

      • Christin says:

The point being made (as Mia put it so well) is about the channel’s usually super-sweet, wholesome, non-scandalous image. Federal charges OR messy personal issues played out in tabloids for years don’t seem to reflect that image.

The H-mark movies I have enjoyed the most usually have little-known actors playing the lead roles anyway.

      • Lady D says:

        Merci, Christin.

    • ME says:

Your point is well stated. I’m disgusted that people are more up in arms about the cheating scandal than they are about the attacks by this admin on our freedoms, environment, etc. That people like Kavanaugh still get the full support for their crimes and those same people are jumping all over these people. Such hypocrisy.

I’m saddened for those on the show hurt by the cancellation. Hope they can restructure some of the programs without Lori.

    • Lizzie says:

100%. what she did was desperate and gross and illegal and she is going to be punished for it by the law but i don’t see why her professional career has to be smashed to bits. r kelly still isn’t cancelled and he’s been holding children as sex slaves for 30 years. robert downey jr was in and out of jail repeatedly for like 10 years and every time he popped out of the clink a limo swooped him up and took him to the set of a new show or movie. is william h macy getting fired from shamless? i seriously doubt it. society loves to punish women.

      • Mary says:

yes this. I think part of the reason people are up in arms over this are its very clear beyond a doubt these parents broke the law and many committed tax crimes. It’s really clear they are guilty.

People still make excuses for R Kelly and MJ. But I also remember the press coverage around MJ when the accusations first came out was even heavier than this. The court system failed those children by acquitting him. I guess people can say there is a reasonable doubt but damn sexual assault and abuse in general are hard to prove but what do people want – video evidence?

I was driving and XM radio was playing a Jackson 5 song this week. It felt like a slap in the face to all victims of sexual assault. So gross.

      • lucy2 says:

It might not be – when this is all done, she might find someone to hire her again. But right now, being arrested and indicted on these charges? Her current employer wants no parts of that, and rightly fired her.

I don’t feel sorry for her, just those who worked on her shows, and I don’t think because the system has failed in many other ways, it needs to fail here too.

    • Fanny says:

She committed federal racketeering and spent half a million dollars on illegal bribes! She should be fired immediately, no question about it. That is not a gender issue.

William H Macy should be fired from his job too but that’s a little tricky because he wasn’t indicted for anything and there’s no evidence in Felicity’s indictment that he ever committed a crime. He *considered* committing a crime. Not the same thing.

As for Mossimo, I read that his Target line was phased out some time ago, so I believe he is unemployed.

      • Lala11_7 says:

Mossimo is designing high end golf wear….

And Target bought him out when they introduced the line to their stores…so he already got his payday….years ago…

    • Sue Denim says:

I came here to say the same thing! So so easy to attack a woman, but men, heck, let’s put em on the Supreme Court, in the White House, in a Cardinal Hat…let’s laud them as “artists” and “business leaders” etc etc. Not meaning to what about this, but seriously, this is a much lower level order of crime in terms of victims than so much of what has just been sort of shrugged off…

    • Meganbot2000 says:

I mean, I agree, but sexual crimes by their very nature tend to be difficult to prosecute because of the lack of physical evidence and the fact many allegations come down to he said she said.

Financial fraud tends to be extremely clear-cut in terms of evidence (and that is obviously the case here).

I’m sure there is a gender component but comparing a crime with solid evidence to an allegation of a crime is apples and oranges.

    • Original Jenns says:

Meh – kind of upset about what she did, which is bigger than a TV show. And while I agree that many sexual assaulters get a “wait and see” pass and it’s incredibly frustrating, she was actually indicted with federal level crimes. This sounds about right for her consequences.

    • Liz says:

I’m so glad I’m not the only one feeling this way!! I want these people to face consequences but why was her justice so swift yet so many of the other celebrities get free passes? Chris Brown beat the crap out of Rhinna and still got to perform at the Grammys. He had famous people defending him. Louis CK is already working again. Of course I could go on and on and on and this is just two examples but it just shocked me how fast celebrities turned on these two women. I mean how long did it take for someone to turn against Bryan Singer? He’s still doing major movies.

    • Veronica S. says:

I agree with the sentiment, but the company is probably looking at it from the perspective of legal consequences. The FBI is involved, and the charges are backed by substantial evidence. Not the same thing to them as allegations.

    • NewKay says:

I’m sorry but Black women have been jailed for using fake addressss to get their kids into better schools- so yeah, the wealthy entitled white woman who bought her kids an education they clearly don’t give a s$&)t about can get fired.

    • MoxyLady says:

This isn’t ok. Predators keep their jobs. Everyone wrings their hands about men’s futures and mistakes etc. ugh.

    • aenflex says:

      Agree.

    • NM says:

I agree with you and I’ve never heard anything bad about her but you never know what goes on back stage. Sometimes when they want to get rid of certain people they use the opportunity when given. Because one wonders sometimes.

  2. Kittycat says:

So has Mossimo lost any contracts?

  3. Rapunzel says:

Sympathy for the folks who lost their jobs over aunt Becky’s stupidity.

    • WingKingdom says:

For real. This decision impacts a lot of innocent people who make far less money than she does.

    • Deanne says:

All of those people who thought they had work lined up for a year are all out of a job. Her horrible behaviour is hurting hundreds of people. I don’t feel sorry for Lori, her husband, or their talentless, entitled daughters, but I feel for those who are losing their jobs because of them.

    • jessamine says:

This was my first thought … the people who count on those residuals and the steady employment of here current projects. This sucks for them, utterly.

    • KA says:

Current jobs, residuals, etc. It is awful how this will impact so many families. I am not sure what else Hallmark could have done, I appreciate how they totally cut her. I just wish it didn’t hurt so many others who were completely innocent.

    • minx says:

Yes, sympathy for them, no sympathy at all for the entitled parents and their spoiled offspring.

    • Original Jenns says:

Yup. More victims adding on to the kids who were kept out because of people using the system like this. If her shows are popular, re-cast her role.

    • Sharon Lea says:

Hallmark could recast her role in her series, any woman on that channel could play the part and keep the show going.

      • lucy2 says:

Exactly – plus they’ll get a round of free publicity out of it when they announce the recasting.
She is not some irreplaceable genius actor.

    • @lilith57 says:

      What Rapunzel said

  4. xdanix says:

Does this mean she has to surrender her passport before December now? Since she won’t need to be travelling for work after all…

    • Erinn says:

I would hope so. Honestly, if she only was allowed to keep it because of work obligations, she should be handing it directly over now that she no longer has them.

      • xdanix says:

That’s exactly how I feel, Erinn! I just don’t know how it works in a case like this where the judge has already given her permission to keep it for so many months- but based on conditions that are now no longer in place.

  5. Esmom says:

“…this was all about Lori’s ego, and her inability to see that Olivia and the other one just weren’t interested in being HER idea of “perfect daughters.”

Exactly this. And how ironic considering Loughlin did very well for herself without a college degree. And good for Hallmark for cutting ties.

    • Christin says:

Lori parlayed teen catalog modeling into a steady acting career. What would have been wrong with allowing the daughter to go a similar route?

The part about the parents being braggarts about their daughters is likely spot on. Why else go to such extremes to get them into college?

      • Agenbiter says:

Doubt the the kids could have followed her path – look up Jody and Preacher from Edge of Night

      • Still_Sarah says:

@ Christin and Esmom : I thought this too – it as all about the parents’ ego and wanting to brag about their kids. And you can’t brag to your uptown friends if your kid is a barista somewhere in the San Fernando Valley! Still it looked the kids were making some career moves in the digital world as “influencers” – whatever the hell that is. I remember the saying that if you can’t be a good example, then at least be a dire warning. And Lori Loughlin seems to be a dire warning of what happens when you don’t accept your kids for what they are. In this case, the kids were average academically and didn’t like school. I loved college and went back for graduate degrees. But if I had been pushed into something else because it was what my parents wanted, I would have rebelled against it too.

    • minx says:

Or heaven forbid the girls go to ASU!

    • oh-dear says:

I laughed at the statement that her daughters are not like her and her husband – they did not go to college and seemed to have started their careers in entertainment/fashion young….so they are very much just like their parents.

    • perplexed says:

Would anyone have cared if her kids didn’t go to college? That’s what is puzzling to me. Who does she even brag to about this?

If your parents are doctors or lawyers, there is an expectation to fit into that type of crowd. But in the Kardashian world or, heck, even among someone like Cindy Crawford (who brags about having gotten into Northwestern), nobody cares if you hold a prestigious degree or not.

  6. grabbyhands says:

She’s not going to jail, the kids didn’t get expelled and they’re all still extremely wealthy so life isn’t going to change much. The one daughter lost a few contracts, but she still has tons of others and now no longer has to go to school, which she didn’t want to do in the first place. Lori lost her place with Hallmark, but let’s be real – she’ll prepare some soppy apology about how she was mislead out of love for her children, go on an apology tour of sympathetic talk shows and everyone will forget because they all love to excuse a white woman and life will go on. She’ll talk about how God got her through the whole thing.

She won’t say, go to jail for five years for having voted “illegally”.

    • Darla says:

Your last sentence is a real punch. Anytime I feel any stirrings of sympathy I think about that and also, the black mothers who were sent to prison for lying about where they lived so their very young children could be a safer school.

      • claire says:

I don’t live in the US and this is the first time I’ve heard that. Unbelievable!!! Where did this occur?

  7. Erinn says:

People need to be more fulfilled by just having happy, healthy kids. Honestly, it’s pathetic how much people view their kids as a status symbol rather than a living breathing human. And it’s certainly not a rich people problem – I see this happen with regular people too. It’s a great idea to try to cultivate wide interests and experiences for your kids. But to push them to do something because it fulfills some weird desire of your own when they really aren’t interested isn’t doing them any favors.

    • Anne Call says:

This is played out over and over again in wealthy communities across America. My kids grew up in Silicon Valley and some parents sense of entitlement and their micro managing of their kids lives was off the charts. We saw kids that got into Stanford and Cal through parents donating big sums of money and pushing their legacy status. Some of them probably used this Singer guy, he’s been doing this for a long time.

    • WTW says:

@Erinn, thanks for saying this. I have a relative with a daughter who barely graduated from high school. She didn’t want her child to attend community college, even though that’s what was most suitable. Instead, she shopped all around for any school that would take her and ended up getting a small Christian school in the South to. Seems the school mostly took her because it needed all the tuition money it could get. My family member made a big deal of the college acceptance, throwing a big going away party for her daughter and everything. Well, the kid basically had a meltdown after two months and got kicked out of the school. She is now in community college. Shortly afterward, the struggling college she went to announced it was closing. And I just remembered my relative had her daughter apply for financial aid as an independent student to get more money, even though she was still supporting her. My relative is a lower middle-class nobody, but if she had fame and money, I could totally see her being involved in something like this. I think at least a quarter of parents would do something like this, so I am surprised by how outraged the public is. People seem to be taking this situation extremely personally, when we’ve all known for years that rich people buy their way into college.

      • Erinn says:

And I understand the mindset of the “you need to go to university!” because that’s what my parents and grandparents expected of me. I went for two years to one of the best schools in the province and have the debt to prove it. But I just wasn’t happy. I didn’t feel like applying myself, and I was dealing with an undiagnosed fatigue/pain condition that made it SO hard for me to function. I was really smart, and never had to put in a lot of work to get great grades. So I get why they felt I ‘needed’ to try to make the best career for myself that I could. I’d planned to be a teacher, and wanted to get a masters to do counseling. And I think I would have enjoyed the ACTUAL practical portion of that. But I was so bored with my bachelors degree and the health issues I was dealing with, that I just couldn’t commit myself to it like I should have.

I didn’t sign up for 3rd year classes, and instead took web development in community college. And I felt fulfilled. I have a decent job – I’m one of the best performers on the team. But the pay really isn’t great for what I do. But I’m so glad I ended up doing something that interested me in the end.

And I know my parents worried about my ability to get a job – but I got one before I’d graduated haha. So once they realized I could make a life out of it, I know they had a huge collective sigh of relief.

The thing is – you can go FAR in at least a good chunk of community college paths. My husband is a red seal plumber now – he makes great money, benefits, and is adored at work and by customers. If you’re great at hair or makeup – you can REALLY build a huge business out of that if you’re driven. Honestly, with the celebrity connections that they have I’m sure that Lori’s daughters could really have made an honest name for themselves in whatever beauty field interested them most. And I think that’s what’s really sad.

I think at the end of the day, the most important thing is to try to keep your kid healthy, fed, clothed, housed, and to instill some kind of passion in them. If they can find something they love to do and are good at – they’ll have a lot more drive to make it profitable than if they’re just going through the motions of doing whatever their parents want.

    • Malificent says:

No kidding. My son just started middle school and he has an older friend in the 8th grade. She texted him in tears the other night because her parents are upset that she got all As and one B. And they go to a public school for high-achieving students, so they already have triple the homework that their friends do in our town’s regular middle school.

My son says that his friend cuts and has other issues with severe stress. I don’t know these particular parents, but I’ve seen it before. And I fear for this girl’s well-being as she gets older. Life is stressful enough without having to live with ridiculous standards from the people who should be nurturing you.

  8. Brunswickstoval says:

I’m starting to feel sorry for their daughters. Imagine having parents who basically can only be proud of you for your fake academic achievements. These parents just sound worse and worse by the day.

  9. BearcatLawyer says:

So their daughters were never interested in school or education. Why? Could it possibly be because neither parent graduated from college and were successful in their chosen fields?

This is a prime example of parents who failed to adequately explain why education and lifelong learning are so important.

  10. mtam says:

It’s interesting because in one interview Olivia mentioned neither her mom nor dad went to college/university, & she “jokingly”called them hypocrites for making her go, though i suspect she really felt that way. Also it was both Mossimo and Lori doing this, he got indicted as well, so it wasn’t just Lori pushing expectations onto her daughters.

  11. Busy Bee says:

She will not do any jail time. She will cut a deal for community service and restitution. Meanwhile you have a black mother who served time for putting the wrong address on her school paperwork so her daughter could go to a better school district.

  12. Relli80 says:

Oh no not the garage sale mysteries!!!!!!! Who will solve the bargain bin deals now?!?!?!?

    • Elkie says:

I know! Devastated. The second I find out that these are really a thing that actually exists, they’re taken off the air.

    • Vintage says:

Don’t laugh, I loved that show. Great TV to read by.

Crossing my fingers they recast her or kill her off and bring someone new in. The rest of the cast is fun to watch.

Yikes, all this people and the crew out of a job!

  13. meh says:

    HAVE MERCY!!!

  14. meh says:

    Also, shes 54!!!???? damn

  15. AnnaKist says:

    Result! ✊🏻

  16. adastraperaspera says:

Hallmark can’t add “fraud” to their brand. Good for them. I agree with the PR manager quoted here–this won’t blow over. People in this country are sick of the excesses of this new gilded age. We don’t have to live with these gross inequities. We can change our society for the better, and bringing the hammer down on these criminals is a good start!

  17. ZinJojo says:

So Lori Laughlin deservedly is fired from her projects, what’s going on with all of the work that Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy have in the pipeline? Will we hear from Netflix or Showtime that their projects are cancelled?

  18. launicaangelina says:

Hallmark is hard core. I watch the channel because of The Golden Girls, but I’ve noticed they’ll fire hosts on their weekday morning show with no warning at all. Mark Steinas was fired last year with no warning, no scandal, no nothing.

    • Christin says:

I did not realize Mark was gone until yesterday, when I was looking at a channel social media site. Christina F was apparently unceremoniously dumped a few years ago, too.

    • SallyTomato says:

Same here! I’m all about The Golden Girls (in my insomniac moments I get into Frasier) and any time someone says “bitch” or similar in a playful moment it gets silenced. Maybe I was looking too hard into it, but did you notice a dearth of When Calls the Heart promos once the news broke?

  19. Chef Grace says:

Good. She was fired. No sympathy for a person who lies and cheats. For me, her crimes reflect what our country has become the moment that Fat Orange Poison number 45 stole the highest office in America.

  20. Lady Keller says:

Wow hallmark don’t play. Part of me feels glad to see there is actually real consequences but the other part of me is angry at the hypocrisy. Dont tell me hallmark executives haven’t given their kids unfair advantages. Maybe they haven’t technically broken the law but I am sure most people in LL’s social and work circles game the system in their kids favour. I have no doubt if we took an in depth look at the offspring of Lori’s contemporaries we would find plenty of shady dealings. It’s how the rich get richer and the rest of us struggle to get an education and a decent job.

  21. Jenna says:

Lori did it because for her daughters brand it was necessary to open up the college market, imho. Look at all the blogs Olivia apparently made abt colllege, alll the product placement, etc!! As for the daughter, These people who turn part of their lives in a reality show loose track of what’s real and important. She was a minor when she started, it must have stumped her emotional development and self awareness. It’s all abt what you put in your blog. Same with many of my early 20s students.

    • Alexis says:

ASU would have worked just as well from an influencer perspective. Lori and Mossimo did it for themselves, not the girls.

  22. eattea says:

I don’t believe in the idea that she put pressure on her kids to do well in school, there’s literally an interview where she states that she’s not harsh on them on education and that they can do whatever they want to do in the future so blah

    • jan90067 says:

What she says in an interview for public consumption, and what she does behind closed doors, are most assuredly two separate things. In her social circle, it’s appearances/status that are paramount.

I grew up in Beverly Hills, and I still live in this area. Take it from me, in a very affluent area, appearances are EVERYTHING to a lot of people.

  23. me says:

Well one less White woman in a Hallmark movie. Boo hoo. They need more diversity anyways.

  24. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I know there are literally thousands that bribe their kids into colleges, schools, academic and fine arts institutions. And it’s been done since there was a collection of people from whom to appeal. Lori is a tiny drop in a trough. If this is the beginning of major overhauls, then great. Most of us worked our asses off to make our applications stand out. But if this is a onesie, a tiny wave of a broom, then it’s overkill in every way.

  25. Debbie says:

I kinda miss the good old days when people donated libraries and swimming pools to get their kids in. At least all the smart, hard-working students benefited.

  26. Reef says:

lol, my mom is gonna be devastated. Welp, It’s Lacey’s time to shine.

    • Mary says:

I love lacey she is my favorite on hallmark

I couldnt get into Lori on Hallmark anyways, I kept thinking where is uncle jesse?

  27. Lena says:

The PR executive had good advice re keep your head down shut up and don’t make excuses. They should follow his advice. Hallmark and Full House probably have clauses in their contracts about being arrested for felonies will void their further employment.

  28. Paisley says:

Felicity H. Has some projects that are in post production. Wonder what will happen? My guess is they will delay airing until this has blown over; although there will be some sort of stigma attached.

  29. Ann says:

People need to stop holding up college and higher education as the be-all end-all of success. It is very clear that Lori Loughlin’s daughter didn’t want to go to college. It was worth what will amount to millions and felonies to save face for your elitist friends? I’m not trying to knock college at all because obviously education is a great thing, but academia really isn’t for everyone and the conversation around it should change so young people don’t feel so much pressure to pursue something that may not be right for them. And just to be clear, I am not defending any of the kids involved in this, especially Lori Loughlin’s daughters. If you hate school so much than don’t take staged photos to get into school. They have agency in this and everyone involved sucks.

  30. Jaded says:

I think what she and others have done in buying their children’s way into prestigious universities is despicable. Period. More rich white privilege at work. I’m glad a couple of students have struck a class action suit against a number of universities – education should be a level playing field, not a fraudulent pathway for those who can afford to bribe their kids into higher education.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/14/who-is-included-in-the-lawsuit-against-colleges-in-bribery-scandal.html

  31. Sharon Lea says:

I emailed Hallmark Channel and asked them to pull all her content. I like Lacey Chabert and Cameron Buhr (sp) and tend to watch what ever they are in. I told Hallmark Lori was very complicit, especially with the staged crew pics and that they had plenty of actresses on the channel to choose from. I am really glad they pulled the plug on her.

  32. Bunny says:

FTA: “the thing to do when you have an influencer daughter who cares about makeup and looking pretty and partying is to encourage her to channel those interests into a career path.”

I almost hate myself for thinking of this, but… that perfectly describes Kris Kardashian Jenner. Only one of her children has a degree (Kourtney).

Yet, with the possible exception of Rob, all of her children have thriving careers and make money hand over fist.

None of this makes KKJ a great mother, but what she’s done has worked. I’m not sure what to make of this…

    • Mary says:

all the socal girls want to be the next Kardashian

    • me says:

Rob has a business degree from USC. He’s not as rich as his sisters because he can’t use his body the way those girls use theirs. Half naked all the time, pounds of make-up and fake hair. The majority of “social media influencers” are skinny, pretty, white girls who want to make other girls envious of them.

    • Raven says:

      @Bunny

Kris Jenner sold her daughter’s sextape and sold her youngest daughter who was around 15 at the time to a married grown man and pumped her full of plastic surgery before she was in 19. Pimps do the same things for thier girls.

All of her kids have self-esteem issues, pathological Liars, cheaters, scam artist and relationship issues not to mention all of them have had multiple plastic surgeries done. The money is not worth it.

      • Bunny says:

@Raven, thank you for filling me in. I only know the Kardashian-Jenners peripherally, as we don’t have cable.

  33. Tourmaline says:

“Hallmark is savage AF” Is the best line ever!

    • ojulia123 says:

RIGHT? I feel like they should come out with a new line – the Hallmark Savage AF Collection.

If that happens, Kaiser should get royalties from it.

  34. S says:

Hallmark is the go-to network for Evangelical Christian viewers. It’s a network that doesn’t allow the words “hell” or “damn” to be uttered. Or show unmarried couples appear to spend the night in the same room, even if they’re fully clothed and played by a 50-plus Lori Loughlin. Heck, Hallmark couples can’t even (close-mouthed, two second) kiss until they’re engaged. It’s seriously G-rated in a way that not even Disney cartoons are at this point. There was a zero percent chance they were gonna keep an indicted felon as the face of the network.

  35. april says:

Lori’s in Cindy Crawford’s infomercials for Cindy’s beauty product line. I think Cindy states in the infomercial that Cindy and Lori are long-time friends. I wonder if Cindy will re-do the informercial. I wonder if Cindy is supporting her or not.

  36. JanetFerber says:

Agree about the double standard of justice. Winona was shamed for years because of the shoplifting, while Brett K. was put on the Supreme Court despite his assault of a woman. Hell, they wouldn’t even investigate Brett’s crime properly.

  37. jules says:

I recommend reading the full article on People, about what the inside circle is saying. It is full of snark and pretty shady!

  38. Sammi says:

Someone commented on an article that said she barely attended class and when she did no one took notice because she was barely there. I do like how people have been pointing out that rich folk “donate” money for a new library or hall & then suddenly their kids get into the school immediately. Dare I mention Donald trumps kids? He paid over a million + to get his kids into college.

  39. Julia says:

I hate that many movies and tv shows that I watch and would enjoy seeing again will now never be shown or rerun because of how everything is going down with Lori Loughlin.

  40. NM says:

I agree with you and I’ve never heard anything bad about her but you never know what goes on back stage. Sometimes when they want to get rid of certain people they use the opportunity when given. Because one wonders sometimes.

  41. Deering says:

“Hallmark is savage AF, who knew.”

Shoot, those who traffick wholesome family-values crap are ruthless in getting rid of anyone who tarnishes them. Disney back in the day was no slouch in this department, either.
