Kylie Jenner covers Interview Magazine (Germany) and I guess this interview happened a month ago or so, maybe even before the Jordyn Woods stuff? I say that because there’s zero reference to all of that, and the biggest quotes from the piece are about whether Kylie can or should call herself a “self-made” billionaire. We’ve already talked about this several times, when she insisted that being “self-made” is solely about whether she inherited money specifically. She also once again wore the “self-made” label when Forbes declared her to be the youngest self-made billionaire in history. So here we are. You can read the full Interview piece here. Some highlights:

Whether social media comments affect her: “I can’t remember the day when I didn’t have millions of people telling me their opinion on everything that I do, so I have no idea what it would be like for that not to happen. It does get to me sometimes but I feel like God put me in this position because he knew that I could handle it.

How she’s a self-made billionaire: “I never thought that this could happen. I believed in Kylie Cosmetics but I didn’t even know what I was getting myself into. It feels amazing, it’s wild, and being the youngest ever to do it is a blessing. I now want to focus on giving back to people and doing things that I’m passionate about.

Whether or not she really considers herself “self-made”: “There’s really no other word to use other than self-made because that is the truth. That is the category that I fall under. Although, I am a special case because before I started Kylie Cosmetics, I had a huge platform and lots of fans. I did not get money from my parents past the age of 15. I used 100% of my own money to start the company, not a dime in my bank account is inherited… and I am very proud of that.

How she hopes she’s remembered: “I hope people will remember that I pushed boundaries, inspired them, worked incredibly hard, set trends, and made history with my business – all at a young age. I hope to inspire other young women to know that there are no limits and to work hard for what you believe in.”

[From Interview Germany]

“There’s really no other word to use other than self-made because that is the truth…” Is it though? I mean, I’m somewhat tired of debating this because it’s NOT a debate. It’s the wrong term to use. She might not have had “inherited wealth” like a Vanderbilt heiress or whatever, but her start-up capital came from her salary on her family’s reality show and the modeling work she had gotten because of her name. Her inheritance was what Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian did to make the entire KJ klan famous. So no, honey, you are not self-made.

Also: “I feel like God put me in this position because he knew that I could handle it.” God didn’t have anything to do with it! YOUR MOTHER MADE A PACT WITH SATAN.

It may be technically true that she used her “own money” out of her own bank account. But where did that money come from Kylie? From you appearing on a TV show that happened only because your big sister starred in a sex tape. You would not have “used your own money” if that money consisted of your part time after school McDonalds paychecks.

    • Wilady says:

It’s frustrating, but I try to think about how many people work at their parents restaurant, shop, or business (an automatic job and income for no other reason than you got accepted for the position) and instantly have a platform (however big) to make your own money and open your own based on the clout earned from your parents reputation of success? I’ll admit it’s a gray area, but she wouldn’t have success if people didn’t like or want her product, or hated her character on the show or her social media presence. I’m not into her, and this site isn’t her target audience, but obviously many are, and if they thought she was a hack with no style or personality, she wouldn’t have a following. People do reality, some people hate them, and they lose credibility and fade into the ether. You can’t just “be” successful if people don’t want you to be.

      • me says:

Firstly, I worked at my parent’s store as a teen and they never paid me. I lived under their roof. Secondly, Kylie misled many young girls in to believing her full lips were due to lip liner when secretly she was getting lip injections. She conned them.

    • runcmc says:

I’m going to give her ONE thing: out of the 5 K sisters, she’s the ONLY one who is a billionaire. They all had the exact same privilege, audience, reach, and social media platform. And you know every last one of her sisters (except arguably Kourtney) would freaking KILL to be billionaires too. Look at all of their apps, makeup lines, clothing lines, spin-off shows, cell phone games. Every last one of them wants to be a billionaire. Only Kylie succeeded.

  2. My3cents says:

Yup, and Aunt Becky’s daughters are Rhodes Scholars.

    • jan90067 says:

HAHAHA! ^^^^^ That’s pretty good! lol

Frankly, I’d call her “Man-made” (ie: plastic and fillers) rather than “self-made”. And let’s face it… this girl doesn’t have the education to do more than pose.

  3. JadedBrit says:

Lip-kits are the result of divine intervention? Now I’ve heard everything.
If there were ever a time to use your words, Kylie… Well. This isn’t it.

  4. CharliePenn says:

Yeah I don’t think God took her childhood away and put her on reality TV with no choice in the matter at the age of 9.

  5. Shannon Malcom says:

It’s like she gets part of why she’s not “self-made,” she gets that she had a platform handed to her. But she still wants to lean into the self-made thing. Whatever, it’s just semantics I suppose. But whoa, maybe this is old news to other people, but I did not realize she had gone for the huge, disproportionate butt along with her sisters.

  6. Lisa says:

    Just ugh at this point.

  7. NotHeidisGirl says:

“I hope to inspire other young women to know that there are no limits and to work hard for what you believe in.” And don’t forget the key, Kylie – lies, lies, lies.

    • lucy2 says:

Yeah, didn’t she admit she got lip fillers, after claiming she hadn’t and it was all the makeup? She’s lucky she wasn’t shut down or sued.

I don’t know why they’re all leaning so hard into the “self made” thing, other than they knew it would pi$$ people off and they’d talk about it.

  8. Kateeeee says:

Just came to be petty: she looks ridiculous. Thanks.

Edit: went back and read it. I am glad at least that they invested in media training. The “shrug, I hate being famous” Kylie of yore must’ve gotten tossed alongside her original face and body.

  9. elimaeby says:

Also here just to be petty: their Pinocchio butts look like overfilled diapers, hanging halfway to their knees. To me (a bi woman), this is not sexy in the least. I very much appreciate curves. Knee-butts? No, thank you.

  10. Mary says:

Spoiled little rich girl who isnt even aware of her privilege and entitlement. She is not self-aware

    • Lady2Lazy says:

No, she is not self aware. She is in the zone of blatant spoiled rich kid who has no idea as to what the real world is.

  11. babco says:

    No other words to use?
    What about “momager-propelled” or “social-media-over-leveraged”?

    • Himmiefan says:

She’s mom-made. I can just see Kris announcing when Kylie was 16 or 17 that it was time for her to earn her keep, thus the ridiculous make up and hair, the clingly clothes, the sexual everything, etc. Kylie to me has always looked miserable, and if left to her own devices, I don’t think she would have chosen this life. I’d love to see her run away.

      • CuriousCole says:

Himmie – I agree, sadly. Kylie has talked about her anxiety issues for years, it’s clear she never would have chosen this path for herself, but she never had a say. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who raised an eyebrow about parents cutting off their 15 year old child.

      • me says:

How did her mom “cut” her off at 15? She was living at home. I doubt she was paying her mom rent. She moved out at 18 once her lip kits took off.

  12. me says:

She looks like a cartoon on that cover. Stop with the insane photoshop ! Her “success” came from lies. She said her fuller lips were due to lip liners…sold a bunch of lip liners…then admitted it was really from injections. That’s false advertising.

  13. Anne says:

My God, I am sick of this family. They are utter trash.
No honey, you are not self-made. You are an uneducated trash-teen mom who lucked out because your mom capitalized on your sister’s bad porn.
They are the worst, literally the worst.

    • otaku fairy... says:

Because I’m sure your hymen was still intact at 19 or 20, like all the other women in your family.

  14. Nancy says:

Not one dime of her money is inherited. That’s cool Kylie since your rich parents are alive. I guess she has spent the last ten years on that reality show without pay. For a billionaire…lol, she is clueless.

  15. Lightpurple says:

Self-made? How about “surgically made,” Kylie?

BTW, dear, some of us are wise enough to know that the very wealthy don’t have what bank accounts that resemble ours. We have heard of “trust funds.”

  16. Anastasia says:

SHE IS NOT SELF-MADE. SHE IS THE OPPOSITE OF SELF-MADE. SHE WAS HANDED MONEY AND CONNECTIONS. SELF-MADE PEOPLE CREATE WEALTH AND SUCCESS OUT OF NOTHING BUT THEIR OWN GUMPTION AND HARD WORK.

    PERIODT!

  17. jodeceit says:

TF? She it literally pulling her face with her hands… sad.

  18. Nikki says:

No other words? How about Completely spoiled rich girl helped by her rich well connected PARENTS!

  19. Margo Smith says:

First of all, I think if she wants to call her self a self made millionaire, let her. Plenty of young men out there get the same kind of funding and help from their families, and don’t get anywhere close to where she is. But also second, damn she doesn’t even look white. She looks Armenian but she ain’t Armenian!

  20. Dani says:

It looks like she jumped on the diaper ass family trend. Ew.

  21. Ashipper says:

To me, for her to be self made, she would have to be the developer of the Lip Kits. She didn’t invent those. Her mom hooked her up with a company making a good product and Kyle parlayed her social media fame into making it successful. She got very lucky that the product she had little to nothing to do with was actually good. Remember when she and Kendall were sci-fi book authors? It’s all a facade.

    • me says:

People seem to forget this important point. Those lip kits were not Kylie’s invention. She was paid to smack her name on them and then fool young girls to spend their money while secretly getting lip fillers ! How is this ok?

  22. Pandy says:

Girl never finished high school so not surprising she doesn’t have “any other words for it”.

  23. Reggie says:

Good lord, when did she get that Frankenstein ass?????

  24. MrsPanda says:

Yeah she’s not self-made, whatever way you choose to slice it. I suspect she’s overtaken her sisters in income because of her (twisted) Cinderella makeover story. She was pretty but always the ”plainest sister”. Suddenly she sprouted lips and the most extreme extensive surgery of any of them. From a pasty, skinny freckled teen to looking like Kim. Her entire head and body were transformed. Young tweens loved the Kylie lip challenge. I think it gives young plainer kids hope that if they follow her ”roadmap”, and get her lip kits, they will go from plain to sexpot. She also has a good creative eye (I think) and good Instagram shots, however her stylist and creative team will be behind all of that. It’s a dangerous yet powerful narrative and I think that’s why she’s surpassed her sisters income-wise. Tweens are a billion-dollar market also, just ask 90’s britney spears!

  25. Yes Doubtful says:

How is she self made when everyone already knew who she was? She was a celebrity long before she started her brand. And how does she not understand that nobody refers to her as such? You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.

  26. jules says:

“I am a special case”…. well that’s one way of putting it.

  27. echophoebe says:

Unless she sells her company for a billion dollars or her company is publicly traded and therefore we know it is worth a billion dollars based on its stocks price she is NOT a billionaire.

  28. Valerie says:

There are others, but she wouldn’t understand them.

  29. Katashae says:

This family really illustrates the toxicity of photoshop. Millions of people of all ages and identifications look to them as something real you can or should look like. And even with ALL the plastic surgery and enhancements they consistently have, they simply DO NOT look like this (any of their posted images) irl. Like, at all. It is sad for all the young folks that are, have been and will be brainwashed and/or confused by this. It physically disgusts me.

  30. Nina says:

Yes, there is: product. She is the product of people investing in her. At least her public persona is.
